Robin kinnie moment #1
This is deadass based on stuff that happened like 30 minutes ago:
• I overheard my brother's girlfriend say that she couldn't find her phone.
• So I mentally attempted to turn on detective mode as if this were the Arkham games-
Tumblr media
• I ignore that I deadass tried doing that
• I then started brainstorming ideas on where it could be based on where I heard her footsteps earlier. And also factoring in that she said she had the phone a few minutes ago. So the phone would still be nearby.
• My intuition kicked in and I started thinking about blankets. I didn't know why I started thinking of blankets.
• She found the phone under her blanket
So I'm funny and that's a Robin kinnie moment

The Great British Blorbo Off Begins Shortly....
Thanks everyone for waiting so patiently while I take my time sorting this all out! I'm pleased to announce that I've decided on everyone that will be in the tournament, and we will be starting next Monday (16th)! So, here's how it's going to work:
There are 128 characters overall, and I have split them into 4 brackets with two rounds each.
I will be posting 8 polls (1 round) a week, and will reblog them in the middle of the week and at the end of the week.
Once we get down to one character left from each bracket, they will go against each other in semifinals until only two are left.
Winner becomes the new queen of England <3
If anyone that submitted a character has a specific image of them they'd like me to use, feel free to send it over. If you've submitted a character from a book then I will just be using the front cover of the book they're from as their image, so let me know if there's a TV/film version or certain cover you'd like!
Brackets are below the cut! As always, feel free to send an ask if you're confused about anything :)

Detective Comics #230
Detective Comics #510
When I was young and naive, I would giggle to myself thinking about Jervis killing the imposter Mad Hatter because he couldn't handle someone else kinning Mad Hatter, too, but then I began to think that's not quite it, is it? Because think about it, if they were both kinnies of Lewis Carroll's Mad Hatter, then why on earth would imposter Hatter adopt the name "Jervis Tetch"? In his universe, the real Jervis Tetch is just a random guy. Why steal the identity of just some dude? Furthermore, why doesn't the imposter seem interested in Alice in Wonderland at all - only hats? Simple: imposter Mad Hatter is not kinning Lewis Carroll's Mad Hatter, he's kinning Jervis Tetch.
In my verse the imposter is alive and well, but at a different ward at Arkham than the rest of the rogues for his own safety (the kinnie drama just got too violent).

How do you feel about the portrayal of plurality in Homestuck? Because it’s not good.
Cherubs are “supposed” to predominate over their other personality. With Calliope being portrayed as naive for trying to co exist.
Horuss is mocked for being a system. But I’d say it was a king fun of people who pretend to be mentally Ill on social media for clicks.
Then their are the sprites
Tumblr media
okay so
i guess we're doing this
HOMESTUCK AND PLURALITY: A PRIMER
BECAUSE JESUS CHRIST THERES SO MUCH
SO SO SO MUCH
okay. so
homestuck is one of the best pieces of media of all time for plurality and i fuckin mean it. no shot do not pass go i have NEVER seen anything that is more built from the ground up to Support plural reads. like, to the point where it feels impossible to read homestuck without it.
as a work dealing with two huge primary themes of a) finding yourself/identity/growing up, and b) ideas coming to life, plurality is pretty much the Perfect intersection between the two of them. like.
take rose for example.
rose is plural and it's great.
when the doomed timeline evaporates, future dream rose does not actually "cease to exist." she ceases to exist as her own person -- her memories, experiences, personality, thoughts (or, as shorthand, her selfstuff) all flows back into rose prime. and that experience is just something rose has to roll with. one becomes two -- that other rose is still in her mind.
jade's plural and it's great.
when her dream self awakens as jadesprite, jade has a horrific argument with her. if you're plural i'm sure you understand. fighting with an age-regressed version of you, stuck in a traumatic past, who WONT FUCKING LISTEN -- we've all . been there.
she has involuntary barks, she can't stop seeing images of fire, she wants to go back to nonexistence but she doesnt want to die and it's torture,
and then in cascade, jade fuses with her.
dream jade is still in there. that part of her she has to grapple with is still real. her dog who she loves is in there, too -- but, yknow. woof
then grimbark gets forcefully introjected into her. i've seen a few fics play with the idea that the grimbark personality is still residually there (read ygtpoasu), but it's not a huge thing that's explored in the text. more backgrounded. but still! her crisis of identity is in there.
wanna know what's NOT backgrounded
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
tavros's plurality is like, a pretty big factor in his character!!!! it's one of the bigger points vriska uses to bully him with (because she's projecting because she's projecting because she's projecting, because she's also plural and kins mindfang), it's like. a big thing that he has to cope with and figure out.
kanaya suggested tavros treat his self-confidence as his own brain guy, like, completely sincerely. she genuinely thought it would help, and it sorta did!!!!!
and like
Tumblr media
it is FAR from the only positive example of plurality in the comic.
Tumblr media
like. look at sollux and aradia defending "alternate reality copies" of characters -- which can be pretty easily extrapolated to them talking about fictives
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like. !!!!
i dunno, man. i think that homestuck is a DEEPLY plural story. you should read mtm and kgtac for more exploration of these themes. read detective pony too while you're at it. like.
i havent even TOUCHED on horuss or dirk or karkat here because there is just so much. there's so much! like ultselves. oh my god i completely neglected to talk about ultselves or cherubs or --
augh
but anyway here's The Screenshots from mtm
Tumblr media Tumblr media
homestuck is, like, the single most fictive compatible fictional work i've ever read.
"oh im being sent to another universe as a brain ghost? that happened to my buddy dirk"
"oh im one of many incarnations of myself, and perhaps not even the most 'canon compliant' one? haha dream bubbles moment"
"ive been isekai'd into another world? lol sburb"
it. yeah. god. i could literally talk about this all day. but instead im gonna direct you to my ao3.
check out no metaphors and then scroll through the "multiplicity/plurality" tag on my page
and if youve got more specific stuff, send in another ask!

Back again with another Darkvolt question this couple is sooo Underated. Ok. What Disney couple do you think best fits these 2.
For me it's Aladdin and Jasmine ( Elmo is Aladdin Drake is Jasmine).
And What childhood monster do you think scared them when they were young.
Thanks hugs 🤗
Hmmmmm that’s hard tbh. My first thought is Drake Mallard kins Flynn Rider and that’s fact in my soul of soul and heart of hearts. Though not sure I can see Elmo and Raps being a good personality fit. Though I do thing a Tangled Darkvolt au would be fucking hysterical lol
As for childhood monster I think they absolutely watched horror movies as kids cause of COURE they did. Assuming they’re in their early to mid thirties (a hc I’ve always had but has been confirmed in the 2023 comics where Drake states he’s 35) in 1991 then they definitely grew up with the OLD school horrors. I think they watched both ones that came out before their time and also during. Drake, of course, would keep up a face of bravery where Elmo would absolutely hold onto the blanket for dear life. Of course, by the end of it both boys would be begging Ms Sputterspark to check under their beds for the fucking Wolfman or some shit.
I do think the two mostly bonded over videos game in the 70s when they were teens and probably were mega comic nerds because look at them they’re fucking dorks. I also believe where Elmo had a special interest in science, Drake had one in detective stories. Local autistic Duck has read every Philip Marlow and Classic Holmes story known to man s2g

The Tragedy of Jafar
Tumblr media
And no, this isn’t a reference to StarKid’s Twisted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jafar is one of the most iconic Disney Villains to date. Appearing for the first time in 1992 Disney’s Aladdin, he continues to appear in sequels, merchandise, remakes, and crossovers, cementing in the public’s eyes the role of the Evil Grand Vizier. But what people don’t know is that more than just an adaptation of the evil magician from the original tale, the vizier Jafar is a character that appears in a couple of tales from the original One Thousand and One Nights, almost always as a sympathetic character and more, that this character is inspired by a real person.
Tumblr media
The most important story that Jafar plays a role is in The Three Apples, or The Tale of the Murdered Woman. The story starts when caliph Harun al-Rashid, a eunuch called Masrur, and the Grand Vizier Jafar are going into the city’s market to question the people about the performance of government officials. Just calling it right now, the caliph Harun al-Rashid is super important in Jafar’s ultimate fate and we’ll soon find why.
On their to the marketplace they find a poor fisherman who still hasn’t caught anything and feeling sorry for the old man, the caliph says for the man to cast his net on the Tigris' bank because whatever it ends there he will buy for a hundred gold pieces. The man does this and brings back to the caliph a locked wood chest. They bring the chest to the palace where Jafar and Masrur break it open and find inside a basket of palm leaves corded with red worsted. They cut it open and see within it a piece of carpet which they lift out, finding a woman's mantilla folded in four, and when they pull it out; they find at the bottom of the chest a young woman cut into nineteen pieces.
Enraged, Harun orders Jafar to find the responsible for the murder:
“[…] if thou bring us not him who slew her, that we do her justice on him, I will hang thee at the gate of my palace, thee and forty of thy kith and kin by thy side."
Jafar then asks for three days.
The story is too complex to try to completely summarize here, and within it, Scheherazade tangles at least two other tales. The point is, that Jafar fails, is almost executed twice, and only because of a series of coincidences the reasons for the murder are clarified.
So, not only Jafar is not a villain, but he even plays the role of a detective in a mystery murder, a very bad one by modern standards, but a detective nonetheless.
Another role that Jafar plays is of an adventurer in the somewhat comic Tale of Ataff. In this Dramedy, the caliph Harun wakes feeling melancholic one day and asks Jafar and Masrur to lead him to the chamber of his treasures in hopes that it can cheer him up. They lead him there, and amid all his glorious treasure, he finds a collection of books. There he finds a particularly special book. While reading, he can’t help but weep three times and laugh three times. Jafar notices this and is scared and asks why the caliph is crying and laughing like a maniac. Harun gets offended and sends Jafar away, telling him to only return when he understands why. Jafar's father advises him to go to Damascus. There he meets the title character, Ataff.
Now, Attaf is overly generous, like, REALLY GENEROUS. I can’t help but wonder if the bad things that happen to him are because of bad choices or because he is just unlucky.
Jafar falls head over heels over a woman he saw watering her plants, and when Attaf learns that this woman is his wife, he divorces her so Jafar can be with her. He also takes the blame for a false homicide just to protect his neighbors from suspicion. Thanks to the goodwill of the warden, he escapes from the prison and goes to Baghdad, but he is robbed on the way, finds a body in the shelter he was hiding and is arrested again. I also need to add that he also accepts the blame for this homicide too.
Back to Jafar, he finally learns that the woman was Attaf’s wife all along. He puts her in a separate palace and refrains from having intercourse with her. Rushing to Baghdad, he goes to tell the caliph about all of this, when the caliph shows him the book. He discovers that the book that Harūn was reading describes his adventures with Attaf. In the end, Jafar saves Attaf from execution, shows him the book, and makes him governor of Syria.
Jafar and Harun appear in a couple of other tales too, usually with Harun al-Rashid as the jerkish but still benevolent caliph and Jafar as his loyal sidekick, assisting him or going along with his adventures.
These two characters are very important because they both are inspired by real people. Harūn al-Rashīd was the fifth Caliph of the Abbasid Caliphate, the third caliphate to succeed the Islamic prophet, Muhammad. He is very important because his rule from 786 to 809 is linked to the beginning of the Islamic Golden Age, a period of economic and artistic blossoming in the Muslim world. Baghdad became a center of science, culture, philosophy, and invention. Jafar is also a SUPER important figure.
Jaʻfar ibn Yahya Barmaki was the vizier of Harun al-Rashid. He was one of the Barmakids or Barmecides, a highly educated, respected, and influential Persian family from the town Balkh, which is in modern-day Afghanistan. They were originally hereditary Buddhist leaders in the Nava Vihara monastery but came into power thanks to the Abbasid Caliphs in Baghdad.
As the vizier, Jafar sponsored the academy which was translating Greek works into Arabic and is believed to have helped bring the paper to Baghdad, by convincing the Caliph to open the first paper mill there.
Tumblr media
But Jafar’s life had a tragic ending. At only 36 years old, he was executed in 803 by Harun al-Rashid, and parts of his body were displayed on the bridges of Baghdad. Other Barmakids were imprisoned and had their property confiscated. Nobody knows exactly why the caliph executed Jafar and the Barmakids. A popular story is that he had an affair with Harun's sister Abbasa, but is theorized that the caliph simply feared that the Barmakids were becoming too influential.
Okay, but why is Jafar today always represented as a villain? Two reasons: Historical bias and Hollywood.
Harun al-Rashid is such an influential figure that many scholars, writers and poets over the centuries tried to justify Jafar's execution and saw the Barmakids with suspicion.
Then The Thief of Bagdad happened.
Tumblr media
The Thief of Bagdad is a 1940 movie staring Sabu, John Justin, Conrad Veidt, and June Duprez, and is inspired by the One Thousand and One Night stories. There Jafar, depicted by Conrad Veidt, is depicted as a treacherous and scheming Royal Vizier.
Tumblr media
In the same way that Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is influenced by 1946 Jean Cocteau’s film, Disney’s Aladdin is inspired by this movie, with Abu being named after one of its characters.
Jafar also appears in 1953 The Golden Blade, which straight depicts Harun Al-Rashid as a swashbuckling hero and Jafar as a sinister evil vizier.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1989 video game Prince of Persia depicts Jafar as a treacherous vizier who wants to marry the Sultan's daughter.
Tumblr media
I think the worst part about Jafar is that he’s just a guy. There is nothing in History or in the folk tales that depict him as the type of villain deserving to be dismembered with his body parts left to be displayed on the streets, but because of historical bias and Western misunderstandings of Middle-eastern culture and folklore, he will be always remembered as an evil sorcerer and the reason why Grand Viziers are not to be trusted. In a way, he is the middle-eastern version of Hades. There is no reason for works inspired by Arabic and Persian culture to have a super sinister vizier, but they do it anyway. From what would otherwise be an obscure historic person, to a generic bad guy.

Allie @ailonwy tagged me in a character meme! I tried to avoid doing everything trigun and landed in everything is ff14 lmao. Thank you!!
Gonna tag @tetriminas @werewolfharrington @dust-rats (could not remember your anime sideblog sorry blue) @blackvampirecat311 @landofgay @mrveils and the girl reading this <3
Tumblr media
some explanations under cut and the blank...if it works at least
Blank
Tumblr media
So!
Hate: Zenos yae galvus (ff14). it's not even really hate he's just kinda lame and I really don't get his appeal?? Feels like standard villain to me idk I found him boring.
Funny: Hildebrand (ff14). Zombie! Detective! I haven't played the new quests yet but the arr ones were fun!
Dating: Wolfwood
<- priest kink. That's it, that's the explanation. He's an undertaker in tristamp technically but I definitely like his tristamp counterpart a little more than the manga. Tristamp has kinda cut the humor down a lot too. Have yet to watch 98 anime. God I could talk about trigun forever if I'm honest.
Deserved better: Haurchefant Greystone (ff14). (uncontrollable sobbing). He and my current WoL (Verren. If you care) had a Thing and I know that's pretty common but he was such a good character and like that one comic: ishgard didn't deserve him or his fuckin sacrifice. I'm still angry about it tbh
Kin: alucard but specifically the Netflix Castlevania alucard. He's a vampire he has a huge mansion he flipped off Trevor. He's my babygirl etc etc etc
Radiates comfort: and out of left field we have yakumo from code vein. I just think he's neat :^). He has a big sword and he's quicker on the heals than some of the other companions and his entire story was how he was an orphan and how awful he felt for not being able to get Emily (I think that's her name) out from under the bad guy who's name I'm also forgetting. Something something big brother types.

1. What do you like about Doc Oc?
2. Favorite movie villain of all time?
3. Do you have a favorite kind of tea?
4. Favorite animal?
5. What anime have you been watching recently?
6. What anime would you recommend?
7. Thoughts on Maka Albarn as a character?
lets see lets see for doc I think that actor was cool as the character even tho i didnt read any comics about em, and i just love characters with long arm/leg added limbs! like one of my favorite cartoons invader zim the irkens had legs that come out of their paks too! i just loved howa Doc Oc used his arms for a lotta stuff hehe. woof favorite movie villain thats a hard one hmmm i dont think about it often but i think Professor Ratigan from the great mouse detective hes just so *evil* and also he goes absolutely rabid he was a scary mother fucker lol. I like loose leaf tea blends the most cause they taste better to me but flavor wise i love berry teas like blackberry and blueberry! as for animals i really love all animals i dont know how i could narrow it but im a dog person if that helps lol :3 i havent seen an anime in a while i think the last one i watched waaass.. damn it may have been Monster with my mate @limirror but i didnt get very far OTL short attention span, and woof im bad at recommending animes to be honest i dont have the best taste lol and its been so long i dont have any to give im sorry 🥺
maka the babygurl I really love her, i think shes a great character and i really relate to her, as you have probably deduced i am very hard on myself and Maka suffers from the same problem, she expects everything from herself but very little from others be it her father because hes proven he has little to offer or her friends because she doesnt want to burden them. Shes really the only person who has complete unconditional love for crona, she can see the real villain and thats Cronas mother, she sees right through her and knows with all her heart crona can be and is worth saving. which is a duality for me because my mate @limirror has like most of us been told theyre "too much" and weren't treated well by "friends" but the moment we met i cared about them deeply i could see that they were hurt and misunderstood and i wanted to earn their trust and be their friend. little did i know we would fall in love though u//u blush heh anyway! those are just a few lil reasons i kin her
thank you so much for the asks it means a lot

💪for the essay ask game with Dirk? :D
Edit: oops I found this in my drafts 🤦‍♂️ sorry for the belated posting!
💪 Describe a theme or other element of the original source material that you feel is strengthened or reinforced by the presence of your ship.
Thank you so much!!! This is such a fun ask game and I'm thriving on the essay set-ups >:3
Themes of Homestuck that continue into my selfship with Dirk include: loneliness, friendship, coming of age, stories and how we interact with them, self-examination/destruction, and Really Complicated Relationships With Ourselves And Others
But in this essay I'll focus on stories and how we interact with them :)
All of the Homestuck kids have defined and complicated relationships to stories. Dave creates his comic, which is both ironic and nonsensical but has also been analyzed as relating to his experience of trauma. Rose writes her dense novels, John loves his movies, Jane hyperfixates on detectives, and so on.
Dirk is at the intersection of a lot of media that never really... gets explored? Much of his aesthetic references anime, we know that horses are a part of his character but they aren't referenced in his intro, his interest in philosophy is clear in his intro and his pesterchum name, he’s interested in comics as his own creation but mostly as a connection to his Bro/ancestor, AND rap is important enough to his character that his fetch-modus system references it.
Some of these are developed or related to plot/relationships and others virtually never come up. But Dirk has a lot of relationships with stories, and that impacts his self-image as well. The way he approaches his relationship with Jake is clearly more based on a fictional ideal than either of their real personalities... the way he holds himself to an ideal caricature of heroism is also representative of that to me.
I also have a very complicated relationship with stories! Between kin experiences and selfshipping and being a fanfiction creator, stories are incredibly intrinsic to my own identity and the way I live my life.
Within our selfship, Dirk and I use anime and philosophy as a way to bond. Dirk is ironic about his interests, and I’m genuine about my interests, and my wholeheartedness works around and under his irony in a way that lets both of us enjoy our conversations without Dirk having to stop his ironic masking. Similarly, both of us have interest in history and philosophy, which is a great way that we can verbally spar, in a way Dirk doesn’t get with a lot of his friends. I can’t rap, god knows, so that’s something he shares uniquely with Dave, but we have our own rapid-fire debates in a new way that suits both of us.
As fancreators, we also can relate to each other through our shared interests in creation! Leaving aside the fact that both of us are obsessed with recreating ourselves, we can stop channelling that into self-destruction and channel it instead into self-inserts and fandom proxies and other suchness.
Bit disorganized but that’s my story about why the Homestuck themes of relationships to stories is continued by my selfship with Dirk!

kravitz and lup for the taz x persona 5 au
(askmeaboutthepersonaauaskmeaboutthepersonaauaskmeabo)
lups design had a lot more thought put into it than kravitz. her codename is phoenix, for several reasons (her fiery personality, shes the creator of the phoenix fire gauntlet, shes literally known for using fire based spells so i had to go with some kind of fire based theme, all that good stuff). my old concepts for her had things like a flowy dress that would end in a kind of feather design, then briefly a kinda mob boss look, and then a few concepts later, i ended up going for a different idea entirely. i think a detective style trenchcoat would be fitting for the kind of roal i envisioned for lup. shes definetly the thief most dedicated to justice and solving who the black mask is, so a detective look matched with a red and yellow scarf to try and still give a phoenix look seemed fitting. for her dailywear, i stole a ginjaninja jacket. im sorry it was what i doodled and i really liked it.
her moveset is similar to ann's, focused on powerful fire attacks with some status ailment skills to go with it.
lups role in the story is either as a very late game party member who's been gone the whole time for unexplained (as of yet) reasons, OR she's been around from the start and joins the party after getting curious about where taako's been running off to all the time and following them into the metaverse. if the latter is what happened, lup awakens after seeing the party (or at least taako) in an unfair fight and wanting to protect her little bro because nobodys allowed to hurt taako but her.
kravitz was a lot less complicated, and is also probably the most joker looking fella. most of his design sketches were just combinations of a suit and some kind of reaper look (i didnt draw it but his weapon is a scythe dont worry guys). the only major change across all my sketches was the lack of hood (i debated a lot and decided to remove it, but i might add it back) and the flowy bit of his suit is new. i stole it from my older lup designs because raven queen he gets a bit of bird theme too. his dailywear may be the average cartoon scientist but thats okay. he can kin sasha if he wants to. i think he works as a mortician or akechi kinnie but is really trying to get his music to work out
kravitz's moveset is very inspired by third sem akechi, focused on curse skills but overall pretty balanced. he can be support or not depending on your mood.
his role in the story is probably similar to the black mask at first, but about halfway through he starts working with the thieves instead of against them. probably because of a deal like third sem akechi or in the crystal kingdom comic. they share similar goals so theyll work together for the time being. also hes super gay for taako. like yknow he tried to kill him but also taakos really hot. how can he not love him.
the arcana and persona choices were the result of several hours of reading the smt wiki. i almost gave lup judgement or chariot arcana but those actually went to killian and magnus respectively. id give you my reasoning for the specific arcana choices for them but for some reason on my notes i wrote "just read the wiki page" so.
