MHA 2.18 - The Aftermath of Hero Killer: Stain - part 1
This is my first watch, so no spoilers please!
Tumblr media
! ! !
The police chief being a dog for no reason made me irrationally happy. It took me so off guard. He even has a Dalmatian pattern tie.
Tumblr media
WOOF. Midoriya is me for real.
Tumblr media
What were they supposed to do? Lay down and let Stain murder them and their friends? I get that there needs to be laws and regulations for quirks, but can't there be exceptions based on circumstances?
I guess it is debatable, considering that Iida did actively hunt Stain down. But Deku and Todoroki were acting defensively. Todoroki even notified his Pro Hero Dad, and asked for heroes to be sent to the location. Unbending law can lack nuance for individual situations.
Tumblr media
Oh, Todoroki is MAD mad. It feels so rare to see him get so openly emotional. It makes it stand out more when he does. He got mean with it too, calling the Chief a mutt to his face.
Tumblr media
WAIT. They are going to give Endeavor the credit for catching Stain?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Tumblr media
To be fair, these kids do not care about getting credit, but why did it have to be that crusty candle-ass excuse for a father who gets credit for their work? It feels wrong.
Tumblr media
Aw, I want to pat his head and tell him he's a good boy. Imagine a dog giving you a thumbs up. This is such a funny image.
Tumblr media
The sass, the eye-roll, the attitude, lol.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, let's see what the other students were up to while our rogue trio were narrowly avoiding death at the hands of a serial killer...
WHAT DID THAT DID THEY DO TO BAKUGO'S HAIR? (It kinda looks good on him).
Tumblr media
Poor Momo looks like her soul is getting crushed by vapid commercialism. Both of these girls deserve better.
Tumblr media
Uraraka made a great choice for her internship. Hand-to-hand combat skills are useful for times when she cannot rely on her quirk.
Tumblr media
Oh, they are going to drag out the will-they-won't-they crush angle until the end of the show aren't they? Romance in shonen is always so under-baked. It is a curse of the genre.
Gunhead is a cutie. I love tough guys being softies.

SCENARIO REQUEST: ❝recreational hockey.❞
Tumblr media
[ Fandom: Boku no Hero Academia ]  [ Characters: Class 1-A ]
「Scenario of Class 1-A finding out that you’re in a recreational hockey team.」
"Isn't it exciting!?" Mina clings onto your left arm as you walked towards the building that read 'Tokyo Multipurpose Ice Rink'.
"It's my first time actually going ice skating!" Hagakure exclaims, clinging onto your free arm.
It was during winter break when everyone agreed to do something together. It was a debate at first, everyone arguing over whether to play outside the dorms or go to an ice rink. And in the end, more people voted for the latter. Dressed in casual winter wear, the students of Class 1-A made their way to the entrance of the large building. As the class president, and one who loves taking responsibility, Iida approached the reception counter and handled the registration and whatnot. Everyone else was busy talking with one another or just sitting around in the waiting area.
"Are you kids done with the registration?" came the voice of your teacher.
"Yes! We rented skates for a total of three hours, it was much cheaper since we have student privileges! Furthermore, after 3 hours, we can all get dinner before places get crowded!" Iida informed Aizawa who looked ready to go home. Honestly, you wondered why he was here in the first place because he surely wasn't here to have fun with kids.
"Then, I'll just stay at the bleachers. Don't slip and injure yourselves." he mutters before making his way towards the seating.
"Why did sensei decide to tag along anyway? I feel bad." you questioned.
"Well, apparently we needed a guardian if we were going out in such a large group." Yaoyorozu mentioned, handing you a pair of ice skates which you thanked her for.
While you were busy putting on your skates, the rest of your classmates were already heading out to the rink. You could see a few of your classmates struggling to even move and only a handful of them seemed to know what they were doing. Todoroki seemed to know what he was doing which was no surprise, given the nature of his quirk. The girls were holding onto the bars, moving at a slower pace and taking their time. Iida seemed to be learning quite fast, capable of balancing on skates. You eventually stepped into the rink, and began skating around the rink with ease.
"[First Name]-chan, you know how to skate? Do you skate professionally or something?" Uraraka asks as you approach her.
"Well.....I've done it a couple of times." you told her.
You weren't lying about it but you left a few details. The reason why you're good at ice skating was that you were in a recreational hockey team and occasionally play whenever you were free. Even though it's been a while since you last played, you were still good at skating on ice. You left the girls and moved around the rink with
"Todoroki must be in his element since he slides on his own ice all the time!" Kaminari mentioned, shifting his gaze towards the dual-haired boy who stepped into the rink right after you.
"I've never been ice skating before.....and feels very different." you heard Todoroki mumble.
"That's surprising. We all thought that you might be the best skater out of everyone, Todoroki-kun! Especially since your quirk is all about making ice. And there were tons of instances where you used your ice as a means of moving about. But it could be really different since you're not in control of your ice and you did mention your boots has spikes underneath which is different from skates―"
"Shut your yapping, Shitty Deku!" Bakugou yelled, throwing a pair of goggles at the green-haired boy who let out a yelp and fell face flat onto the ice. You watched as Midoriya ungracefully falls onto the ice and Todoroki waddled in his skates like a newborn fawn. A small giggle leaves your lips, you found it cute how the two strongest students in Class 1-A were defeated by mere ice.
"Thank you, [Last Name]." he holds onto your hand a bit tight and you could see how hard he's trying to balance himself on ice. You looked at the green-haired boy and couldn't help but find it amusing how serious he looked. He yelped when he realized you've been staring at him, quickly yanking his hands away and falling backward. Luckily, you were fast enough to catch him.
"S-Sorry! Just give me some time to get used to it....." he squeaked.
"It's fine, Midoriya. I'll hold onto you until you get used to it." you offered. On the side, you could see Todoroki waddling a bit toward you and Midoriya.
"Are you okay? I saw you fall." Todoroki asks the green-haired boy.
"Have you two actually ice skated before?" you ask.
"Come on, I'll teach you some tricks!" you grabbed Todoroki's hand and pulled him along with Midoriya.
"[Last Name]! Hold my hand and skate with me too!" you hear Mineta call out to you, seemingly doing fine on ice skates.
"Mineta if you come any closer, I will kill you." you threatened with a dark smile, glancing over your shoulder.
The boy gulped in fear and slowly moved out of your way as you shifted your attention towards Midoriya and Todoroki who you were still holding onto. Midoriya gulped slightly at your change in behavior, intimidated by how terrifying you were. On the other hand, Todoroki was as stoic as ever and seemed more focused on keeping himself standing on skates. You helped Midoriya and Todoroki stay on their feet before retreating to the side. Some of your friends were seated by the bleachers taking a break and you decided to join them.
"Oh, it's [First Name]! It's been a while."
"Minato and Akari? What are you guys doing here?" you greeted the two.
"We're here to play some hockey, do you wanna join us?" Minato asks you with a smile. You glanced over your shoulders to see your friends waving at you enthusiastically as if signaling you to join them.
"Sorry, I'm here with my classmates and didn't exactly bring any gear with me." you admitted with a shy smile.
"Let's play again when you're not busy! Ever since you started your internship you barely have time to play hockey anymore. Oh! Let's not take too much of your time since you're here with friends! See you next time!" Akari said, waving goodbye. Your two old friends walked away as you waved them goodbye, letting them know that you'll play again once you're free.
"You play hockey?! That's unexpected!" Ashido exclaimed.
"Yeah but only during my free time. And honestly, we don't have much of that anymore....." you admitted, twiddling your thumbs behind your back as your friends began to surround you.
"We can play some other time!" Hagakure suggested.
"Or maybe right now! You could teach us all how!" Kaminari seemed quite eager.
"Absolutely not! Especially when we're all mere beginners on ice! What would happen if we were to get seriously injured?! As the class representative, I am responsible for everyone's well-being and I won't allow anything to happen to all of you!" Iida chastised which earned a giggle from you.
“Sensei! We’re going to the other rink to play hockey!” Ashido announced aloud.
“Can you guys even play hockey?” your teacher mumbled in response.
“Well, [First Name]-chan can!” Uraraka exclaimed.
“Only one of you can play? Just stay here.” Aizawa instructed.
"Yeah.....maybe next time guys." you grinned.

midoriya izuku
he is a closeted theater kid who goes wild whenever any of the contemporary musicals come on.
sometimes, right after a one for all/all might/deku’s 6392378 quirk explanations with all might, bakugo, and midoriya, the two boys will walk back to the dorms with each other. midoriya has an issue with his lack of a filter, and has ranted about how pretty uraraka is more than once to bakugo, who has responded with “shut the fuck up you damn nerd” each time.
he is autistic: have you seen how he obsesses over heroes and how he lacks a filter and how overly empathetic he is and how-
he cries to conan gray even though he cannot at all relate to his music. he just finds the concepts in his songs to be depressing.
todoroki and him have weekly get togethers to shit talk their dads. it usually involves face masks, coffee, and chocolate.
deku has a lot of freckles all over his body; especially the face and back.
he is an avid death note and demon slayer fan. he has cosplayed as tanjiro (with asui as nezuko) once. and in middle school he had this cringy “I’m writing ur name down in my ‘completely normal’ notebook you jerk-” where he would pretend that he’s light and that he can write the exact way he wants someone to die. he has ‘bakugou kacchan explodes and dies on april 12th at 2:00 pm’ in there at least once.
he has a lot of self harm scars on his thighs because of middle school, though he would never blame bakugo for it.
he related a little to hard to mirabel in encanto and cried to waiting on a miracle for a week.
he has in depth analysis’ on every pro, villain, vigilant, and hero in training that he’s ever seen/come across. his notebooks weren’t enough so he has a whole filing system in a binder in his room, safely hidden under his bed.
iida and deku train together with their legs, which looks weird— just two dudes kicking one another.
iida and deku spend hours in book stores with one another. deku likes horror books while iida likes fantasy.
deku and uraraka bake together. at first it was to help deku’s anxiety and to make mochi for uraraka, but then they liked the quality time together, so it became a tradition.

Chapter Seven
All Might(thinking): I was worried about you for a second… but that was superb, my boy! He still can’t adjust the power output! Yet he also can’t afford to cripple himself. So he waited until the very last second and focused one for all at the end of his fingertips. He used it for the shortest time possible at the last possible moment! You know what kid?
Izuku: I… I can still move!
All Might(thinking): You’re actually pretty cool right now!
Ochako: You finally got a record suitable for a hero!
Tenya: Your fingers are swollen… reminds me of the entrance exam incident… what an odd quirk.
Yuuga: It’s not stylish enough.
[Bakugou is shown to be shocked]
Katsuki(thinking): What the fuck…! A quirk manifest by age four at the latest! It’s impossible… and yet…! He said he’d won it!
Katsuki: What is this, Deku!? Explain it now, Shitrag!
[Izuku, scared shitless]
[Aizawa stops Bakugou with his capture weapon]
Katsuki: Guh-hh, what is this cloth? I can’t…!
Shouta: It’s my special “capturing weapon”, a steel wire alloy woven with carbon nanofibers. Jeez, don’t make me use my quirk so much. I got serious dry eye, damnit!
Class 1-A(thinking): His quirk is amazing, but it seems a waste on a guy with dry eye!
Narrator: Aizawa Shouta. He can “erase” the quirk of anyone he looks at! When he blinks the effect turns off!
Shouta: We’re wasting time, prepare for the next trial.
Ochako: Is your finger alright?
Izuku: Y-yeah.
[Bakugou clicks his tongue]
[Bakugou starts thinking about past memories with Izuku]
Katsuki(thinking): Up until just now… you were just another pebble on the road.
[Katsuki cues a dramatic flashback of when they were kids]
Izuku(4): I’m jealous, your quirk is such a cool one, Kacchan! I hope mine comes in soon too!
Katsuki(4): I told you! No matter what kind of quirk you get, Deku, it’ll never measure up to mine!
[Back to the present]
Katsuki(thinking): He shoulda been nothing more than a pebble in my path!
Izuku(thinking): I couldn’t get any oter records of notes while battling the pain and then all 8 trials came to a close.
Shouta: time to present the results.
Izuku(thinking): If my total is the lowest, I’ll get expelled…! Did anybody else get such low scores…
Izuku(thinking): The only real record I managed to excel at was the ball pitch.
Shouta: The total is imply the aggregate sum of each of your scores. IF I recited all your scores it’ld take a million years, so I’ll diclose them all at once.
Izuku(thinking): I did miserably at every other trial! I did especially horrible at the endurance run since I could barely stand the pain! If I’m expelled…
Shouta: Oh yeah, that whole “expulsion” thing… that was a lie.
[Aizawa gives a shit-eating grin]
Shouta: It was a logical ruse to pull out your best performances.
Class 1-A(aside from Momo and Shouto): Whaaattt!?
Momo: C’mon guys, use your brains! Of course, it was just a ruse!
Shouta: and… right. Yep, with that, it’s over. Your curriculum sheets are back in the classroom so give them a once-over. And Midoriya…
[Aizawa hands him a note]
Shouta: Go see Recovery Girl and get yourself patched up. Since your eyeballs will doubtlessly pop out at tomorrow's absurd ordeal.
Izuku(Thinking): Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad I’m safe, but there’s still too much I can’t do.
[Scoreboard order as followed: Yaoyorozu Momo, Todoroki Shouto, Bakugou Katsuki, Iida Tenya, Tokoyami Fumikage, Shouji Mezou, Ojiro Mashirao, Kirishima Eijirou, Ashido Mina, Uraraka Ochako, Kouda Kouji, Sato Rikidou, Asui Tsuyu, Aoyama Yuuga, Sero Hanta, Kaminari Denki, Jirou Kyoka, Hagakure Tooru, Mineta Minrou, and Midoriya Izuku]
Izuku(thinking): Last place isn’t exactly a promising start. From here on, I’ll study my ass off! So I can reach my dream!
All Might: Aizawa, you liar!
Shouta: Oh, it’s All Might. So you were watching, I take it? You must be free, then.
All Might: A logical ruse? April Fools was a week ago! You expelled an entire new class of first-years last year! You kick kids out without a moment’s hesitation if you judge them as having “zero chances”. This is a total 180 from what you used to always say! Could it be because… you felt it too, right!? Young Midoriya’s raw potential?
Shouta: You too? So you have his back, right? Normally, that’ be against your teaching style.
[All Might is too stunned to speak]
Shouta: His chances are above the “zero” mark. That’s all. I can kick out anyone whose chances drop below that mark at any time. It’s not a cruel thing to end the half-assed chasing of a dream.
All Might(thinking): So that's your brand of kindness, is it, Aizawa? However…
ALl Might(to himself): Just as I thought… we’ll never get along.
[END OF FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL]
Izuku: I’m pooped.
Tenya: Is your finger healed?
Izuku: Ah! Oh! Hey, Iida. Yeah, Recovery Girl saw to that…
[Flash back]
[Kissing noise]
Izuku: Wow! Amazing… it’s really healed! But… suddenly… I feel so tired…
[A note appears saying he fainted last time Recovery Girl healed him. So he doesn’t remember being healed the first time]
Recovery Girl: All my quirk does is magnify your own body’s regeneration process. In order to heal, you need to use up some of your own strength. If you keep getting injured and use too much of your body’s strength to regenerate, you’ll just end up dying anyway, so be careful.
Izuku: I’ll die anyways!?
[Flashback ends]
Izuku(thinking): I can’t go on like this, getting rescued all te time… I’ve gotta learn to adjust it, and quickly!
Tenya: I have to save, Aizawa-sensei really got me! I’d actually thought “So this is what the highest academia is like!” Now I see how a teacher can encourage through deception.
Izuku(thinking): Before, I saw Iida as scary. But he’s just a really honest, diligent guy!
Ochako: Hey there! Hey, you two! You headed towards the station? Wait for me!
Izuku(thinking): It’s Uraraka!
Tenya: You’re that “infinity girl”!
Izuku(thinking): infinity girl?
Ochako: Hi, I’m Uraraka Ochako! You’re, uhh, Iida Tenya, and if I’m not mistaken, Midoriya Deku!
Izuku: Deku!?
Ochako: Eh? Wasn’t that what that Bakugou kid called you?
Izuku: Erm, actually, my name is “Izuku”, “Deku” is just what Kacchan calls me to demean me.
Tenya: Oh, so it’s an insult?
Ochako: Ehhh, for real!? Sorry!
Ochako: But you know, I kinda like the name “Deku” for you! It gives me a sorta “I never give up” vibe, you know!?
Izuku(red faced): Hi! I’m Deku!
Tenya: Midoriya?!
Izuku(thinking): I may not have a lot going on for me at this moment, but like she said: I can’t give up.
Tenya: Don’t be so weak-willed! It’s an insult, remember? It’s just like when Copernicus flipped the paradigm…
Ochako: Coperni… huh?
Izuku(thinking): But you know something, All Might?
[Izuku thinks back to people laughing at him]
Izuku(thinking): I’m ecstatic just to have gotten far enough to make some real friends!
[cue to Small Might at UA]
Small Might: Sorry, my boy, but we haven’t got any time to relax… the real test starts tomorrow…
[We see the daily lives of UA students trying to get ppl to join clubs, present mic teaching English. We find out UA is required to teach normal lessons to all students.]
[At noon the kids have lunch]
[In afternoon students do their specialised classes]
All Might: It’s me!
Izuku: You came!
All Might: Coming through the door like a normal person!
Denki: I can’t believe it! All might’s really gonna be teaching us!
Eijirou: That design’s so silver age! That art style clashes so much! It’s giving me goosebumps.
All Might: Foundational hero studies! For this class, we’ll be building up your hero foundation through various of trials!
All might: Let’s jump in with this! The trial battles!
[Bakugou is grinning while Izuku looks confused]
Katsuki: The trial…
Izuku: Of battle!
[All Might stands on the side of the class where he presses a button and the children's hero gear comes out]
All Might: and to go with your first battle… we’ve prepared the gear we had you send in a request for to match your quirks!
Class 1-A: Our battle gear! Awesome!
[Izuku hugging his bag]
Izuku: My costume…
All Might: Go get changed and we’ll be ready to go! Everyone, gather at Grounds Beta! The garb you bring into the battlefield is vitally important, boys and girls! And don’t forget, from here on out, you’re all officially, heroes!
Izuku(running in an empty tunnel): Hey! Wait for me!
All Might: All right! Let’s see what you’re made of, you embryos!

class 1-a hcs based on science and shit: part 1
u cant tell me any of these characters smell completely normal. or good in a way u can make candles out of them. this is my hc list and i am RUNNING with it. @emogaeness this 1's for u, my dude
Aoyama: one of the only 'normal' smelling ones. he defs uses french parfum but also he probably smells like heated metal and cheese all the time. Energy doesnt really have a smell til it interacts with gas so i think he probably just smells like however he wants to.
Mina: IM SORRY TO SAY BUT MISS MAAM IS STINKY AS HECK. mina is an acid producer and therefore smells acidic--and going by what we know of acid, she smells PUNGENT. dairy-like but also sour. BUT her body is probably evolved to be antacidic and she's a gymnast. after reading like, 2 research papers, gymansts chalk (magnesium carbonate) neutralizes acids (caus its 10.5 ph) and so i think while she does kinda smell, it wouldnt be AS bad even if she's training. its possible for her to wear perfume if she wanted, since usually they're around the 7 pH range.
Tsuyu: Oh. wet grass. and just. damp. she probably smells like marshlands or just nature in general, because thats part of camouflage. she probably also has an underlying sweet scent from venom? idk. on the normal she'd probably just smell neutral if a little musty.
Iida: ok i had to wiki this but i dont think he smells like much? he faintly smells like exhaust--but when he overuses his quirk and inevitably combusts whatever engines he uses, the chemical reaction creates sulfur which would make him smell like rotten eggs. otherwise he smells like orange juice (his choice of 'fuel'), sweat, and cologne.
Uraraka: I think she just smells like mochi lol. gravity doesnt really alter her body so i think ochako's normal--if a bit sweet bc she generally seems to like sweet stuff in canon
Ojiro: OK HES JUST GOT A WEIRD LUMP OF FLESH ON HIS BACK FOR A TAIL THO LIKE?? IDK HE SMELLS NORMAL?? maybe a bit like spray-on shampoo and deodorant, but that's it. does a third limb of pure muscle smell like anything? no? godspeed, mashirao, godspeed.
Kaminari: he smells like ozone. He's probably crazy static since he generates the electricity inside of him constantly and is canonically a terrific electricity conduit, so unlike aoyama he'd definitely smell like frying electricity. also. (minor manga spoilers) he bathes enough to be able to call midoriya stinky, so he definitely has basic hygiene. other than that i think he smells like sweaty leather bc of his hero costume and candy.
Kirishima: not quirk related but he probably just smells like sweat. and like, meat. maybe dirt. i love this boy but i'm also a sheeple bc i believe in the hc that he smells like axe body spray. and really good conditioner bc of how fucked up his hair would be by now if he wasn't taking very good care of it.
Kouda: smells like animals. like. bunnies and hamsters and birds and stuff. its not bad per se, but he definitely smells like he's constantly hanging out with the city's local rodent and avian population. other than that he probably just smells neutral/like nothing, since that's more approachable to the prey animals that he seems to favor.
Satou: baked goods and candy.
Shouji: I think Shouji is probably the most hygiene-conscious of all the kids in 1-A. Because of the amount of open/accessible body parts like eyes, nose, ears on his limbs--he probably takes very good care in showering and all that stuff to prevent random infections or just generally damaging any of his senses. Dude's chill--smells like mild soap and laundry detergent.
Jirou: Ah, not gonna lie she probably smells a bit like burnt electrical wires. She's a bit like Kaminari in terms of smell, except her's have that more 'metallic' and burning sharpness whenever she uses the stunning part of her quirk. Other than that... probably also leather because of her hero costume, or just like the inside of an instrument shop (wood, ivory, brass, etc.)
Sero: Packaging type. you know when you pull like, a large strip of tape and--? yeah? that. smells like tack. other than that, excellent hygiene! bergamot and pine or whatever.
Tokoyami: he smells like bird, but only faintly. dude mostly smells a little musty caus he probably never airs out his room. Dark shadow is described like "dark energy" which, similar to aoyama, kaminari, and jirou, probably makes the air around him smell different bc thats gas interacting with energy. Aside from that, he most likely smells neutral. (... maybe with a bit of leather and metal because thats just how his fashion probably works)
Todoroki: Sweat, but not like, a lot. He definitely doesn't smell bad after battles because steam kills bacteria like, fairly effectively, and would eliminate most foul odors. I think he'd smell like Expensive herbal soap or whatever most of the time. He doesn't seem like the type to be unhygienic.
Hagakure: ????? fuck dude she probably tries her best to smell like nothing, caus if her whole schtick is being invisible then its probably best if she just smelt like nothing. imagine being a villain and then promptly getting kicked in the nuts by a gust of wind that smells like strawberry peach.
Mineta: i cant explain it but just... warm grape juice. his... orbs. have oily/sticky like substances to act as adhesive and ill be damned before u tell me he doesn't smell like anything even remotely artificial-grape-flavoring adjacent. he also smells of like,, axe body spray but stronger.
Yaoyorozu: herbal tea on a normal day. most likely the digestive kind just because i think thats the most practical tea to have with a quirk like hers thats reliant on eating large quantities of food. other than that, i think she smells like basic weaponry-grade materials like iron, polished wood, copper, and gunpowder.
Bakugou: stinky boy. canonically, his hygiene's great but that's likely for a reason. he sweats a lot and excessively, and while his sweat is described as 'nitroglycerine-like' it doesn't mean it smells like caramel. the common description for nitroglycerine according to the brittanica encyclopedia is that it's toxic and has a 'sweet, burning taste'. the sweet scent is described as sharp at best--so while its totally okay if you wanna think of his sweat as caramel-like, i just wanted to clear up the misconception that thats what it factually is. ASSUMING his sweat still has a similar molecular makeup to nitroglycerine and has nitric dioxide, it would smell sickly sweet, if slightly neutral due to the nature of sweat itself being odorless when clean. other than that? bkg is definitely just a smelly, smelly boy. smells like sun and smoke and teenage body odor and burnt plastic.
Midoriya: SMELLY STINKY. deku sweats like, a lot. not only does ofa expend a ridiculous amount of energy and probably strains his muscles like crazy (forcing him to expel all that lactic acid in the form of sweat), but he also spends a lot of time just outside in general. science slightly aside, deku smells a lot like grass and dirt and just,,, the outdoors in general. he, like kaminari, smells very strongly of ozone (clean, chlorine-like) because of the sheer amount of energy output OfA has. Not expounding past the manga, Black Whip is described as a quirk that produces tendrils of pure black energy. This probably creates the same effect/smell as an area struck by lightning.

“Deku!” Ochakos loud, peppy voice rang out through the living area of the new dorm building that had been built for the students of UA. The brunette practically skipped to meet her best friend at the elevator where he was coming out of. Almost immediately latching onto one of his arms and leaning against him. “We need to get some food, quick, Izu. I’m starting to feel faint.” Ochako huffed. While the girl probably was hungry, it was clear Uraraka was exaggerating just a bit. The green haired boy in question seemed to pick up on that pretty quickly, and had to stifle a little chuckle with his free hand. Seems like Ochako caught it, pouting up at the other. “It’s true! Oh, I can see the light, Deku. I’m fading, I can feel it. Hurry, we don’t have a lot of time.” She groaned dramatically, leaning most of her body weight against the other, to which Izuku locked strong arms under her armpits, hoisting her fully back up on her feet. “Okay, okay. I get it. I don’t think anyone’s gone grocery shopping yet, so maybe we should do that if we go out for food-“ Izuku started.
“Did you guys say something about food?” Came another, somehow even more excited than Ochako, voice. Although it was definitely deeper. Both of the kids glanced over to where Eijiro was strolling over to them, with Katsuki begrudgingly following behind him. Hands shoved inside his pockets. “Ugh, I haven’t eaten anything all day. Food sounds amazing right now.” The redhead groaned, giving the other two a look that read that he wanted to come with them. Izuku smiled gently. “You can come too, Kiri. We haven’t decided on where we’re going yet though.” He explained, eyes drifting over to the slightly agitated looking blonde behind him. Katsuki avoided his gaze, apparently very interested in the carpet beneath him at the moment. It’s been like that ever since they’d gotten Katsuki back. He seemed to be back to his normal self, except with Izuku. The normally hot-headed, loud mouthed blonde who would scream until Izukus ears were bleeding was suddenly quiet, and Izuku can’t remember the last time he’d been able to meet those piercing ruby eyes. It made his stomach turn, he couldn’t imagine how Katsuki felt right now. He’d gone through something horribly traumatic, no doubt not having processed a lot of it yet. Which is probably why he refused to meet Izukus eyes, because the two knew each other better than they practically knew themselves. Izuku could tell something was off, even if everybody else had slowly started believing Katsuki was back to his normal self, the facade didn’t fool Izuku.
“Are you coming too, Kacchan?” Izuku asked, gaze softening at the other male. A huff escaped the others mouth, as Katsuki suddenly crossed his arms, standing up a bit straight. He rolled his eyes, scoffing. “As if I’d ever go out with you dorks.” “We can go get those spicy sushi bowls you like~” Izuku retorted, almost immediately after the blondes original claim was made. Katsuki stilled a bit, eyes seeming to flick over to Izuku for a split second as a look of surprise flashed over his face, before it was quickly replaced with his normal scowl and his eyes squeezing shut. “You’re a freak for remembering that, and an idiot if you think you can bribe me to go with you guys.” The blonde snarled through grit teeth. Izuku raised an eyebrow at him, glancing over to where Ochako and Eijiro were already ready to head out. Grabbing their wallets and practically bouncing on their feet waiting at the door. At least someone was excited about this.
“Okay, if you say so…” Izuku hummed, beginning to make his way over to the others. The other two were already halfway out the door the moment Izuku took a step towards them. He had almost made it out the door himself when he heard a grumble from behind him, lips quirking up as he glanced over his shoulder. Katsuki was very pointedly looking away from him, cheeks going red, his own stomach had betrayed his words. He shot a glare at the green haired boy, gritting his teeth as he let out an agitated groan. “Fuck! Fine! I’ll go! Drop dead, shitty nerd!” Katsuki growled as he began to stomp towards the elevator. Going to retrieve his own money. Izuku let out a little giggle, watching the blonde walk away fondly before he yelled for the others to wait up for the both of them. Despite the groans from Kirishima and Ochako, Izuku didn’t mind waiting for the other one bit.

MHA Unhealthy Habits Headcanon Pt. 1
▵ This headcanon dawned on me while I was thinking about my own unhealthy habits.
▵ You don't have to agree with what I'm about to say here, but please be respectful.
▵ TW for topics relating to mental health and dysphoria. ▵
Tumblr media
▵ Deku never allows himself to be a priority. Why would he? As the successor of the former number one hero, Deku has an immense amount of pressure and expectation resting on his shoulders.
▵ Everyone else is more important than him — everyone else’s needs go above his own.
▵ For Deku, coping with stress and anxiety is practically a non-existent concept. The boy doesn’t know when he needs to take a break and refuses to do so when other people suggest that he should relax for a while.
▵ Everything, including himself, is a project for the benefit of others based on external expectations.
Tumblr media
▵ Bakugou needs to hydrate, and he knows he does — his quirk is reliant on his body’s sweat, which of course is produced by the water in his system — but he rarely drinks water at all.
▵ He will drink literally anything else before he drinks water, making him the most dehydrated out of any of the other 1-A students.
▵ He won’t get angry when someone reminds him to drink it, but he will absolutely do so begrudgingly and glare at whoever it was the entire time he’s swallowing down the glass of water like a kid after playing outside on a hot summer day, gulping and gasping when the glass is empty.
▵ He won’t drink a second glass of it afterwards for at least a while.
Tumblr media
▵ Uraraka likes to give herself small rewards when working on tasks. One of these is food.
▵ She uses it as motivation to complete a task, but because of the nature of things, her so-called motivation is more punishment than anything.
▵ “I’ll eat as soon as I finish this assignment!” She’ll say, working on an essay for class that takes twice the usual amount of time because she can’t stop thinking about Mochi and grilled eggplant, listening to her stomach growling as her focus disappears.
▵ She eventually finishes the essay and goes to eat, but it took way longer than it should have.
Tumblr media
▵ Denki’s internal body clock is practically non-existent.
▵ His sleep schedule is so horribly messed up that he can nap anywhere at any given time because of how exhausted he is.
▵ He finds himself staying up late, initially to work on schoolwork to help his grades or to keep socializing with friends.
▵ He doesn’t realize that what he’s experiencing is revenge bedtime procrastination — he just thinks that the nighttime is the only time he can do whatever he wants.
▵ He stays up playing video games, reading comics, or just about anything else to delay his sleep to avoid acknowledging the reality of needing to go to hero training in the morning.
Tumblr media
▵ Kirishima’s experience at Fat Gum’s agency was definitely one that helped advance his career as a hero, and he was very thankful for the opportunity.
▵ But with that advancement into his career came a change in his body type — to the point where it was noticeable to other students at UA who commented that “Fat Gum must’ve taught you to eat well!”
▵ Kirishima hates when people point out that he had gained some weight. He knows that it was actually beneficial for his quirk not to be pure muscle, but he can’t help but feel less manly with the bit of pudge on his stomach now.
▵ So he resorts to yo-yo dieting — off and on restricting certain foods in order to keep his muscle mass up and his body fat down, switching to “healthier” alternatives that really just disregard the necessary amount of nutrients he needs.
Tumblr media
▵ Iida has an immense amount of respect for himself and the people around him. He admires his fellow classmates, other heroes and mentors in his life, consistently striving to be a better version of himself and a better hero.
▵ On top of that, Iida holds a lot of responsibility, both to himself and to his classmates as class president, which makes it difficult for him to decline something when his plate is already overflowing.
▵ Setting boundaries for himself, letting both others and himself know that he has too much going on, is one of the most difficult tasks.
▵ He'll miss out on social interactions with his classmates to get through whatever extra chore he agreed to do, putting himself at the top of the pedestal for reliability and responsibility, but well below the lowest rung for social growth.
Tumblr media
▵ It started out as a joke. A petty way to get back at his dad for being a generic douchebag with lots of cash sitting away in a bank account. Taking Endeavour's platinum credit card didn't seem like that big of a deal.
▵ Todoroki would treat his friends to lunch one day, flashing the bright silver coating on the credit card as he handed it to their server that day.
▵ From there, it became treating his friends to lunch more often, buying things for them that they would complain about needing no matter the cost (especially for Uraraka, who had only basics due to her home life), which then spiralled into buying things for himself that he liked purely on impulse and without thinking it through.
▵ Todoroki's impulse spending became an even bigger problem when he graduated UA and became a pro-hero, spending every last cent of his paycheque on mundane items after paying for his basic necessities.
▵ After all, he has an issue with impulse, not responsibility.
Tumblr media
▵ Mina does very well to keep herself presentable and stylish when spending time around people. Her bubbly and flashy outfits are proof enough of that.
▵ But what Mina projects -- a bubbly outgoing personality and a clean appearance -- is not necessarily what takes place behind her bedroom door.
▵ While she keeps herself clean, her space is always a mess, to the point where walking through her bedroom is impossible, unless she's the one navigating through it. There is just enough space for her to walk through an endless sea of school books, costumes, outfits, accessories, and takeout food packets strewn all across the floor.
▵ Since Mina enjoys spending time with friends in their rooms or homes, or at the mall or movie theatre -- literally anywhere aside from her bedroom -- she never cleans her space.
▵ Her school desk, locker, and even her purse are an absolute disaster zone. Denki swore he found a two-week-old sandwich in the back of Mina's locker once.
▵ Part 2 can be found here. ▵

The New Class 1A Student
Description: Hunter, the new student, comes to the dorms ready to meet the class. And after a while of hanging out and helping his new classmates, class 1a plays a game that reveals some things about the new kid.
*Contains swearing, tickling, and a romantic moment. If this stuff bothers you, then don't read and move on with your business*
*There are some important notes at the end of this story that have this by certain words or sentences: * (make sure you read them)
*I truly apologize for this being so long, but it's the best I could come up with
Lers: Class 1A
Lees: Hunter, Deku (a rare, split moment)
It was a normal day for class 1a. The kids were either playing games, studying their homework (looking at you, iida), or just scrolling through the internet looking at random memes. If anyone were to ask if every free day was this slow, the class would say it was normal. And nothing was going to make it better.
Or so they thought.
Soon, someone started knocking at the door. Everyone stopped what they were doing, confused because no one was expecting any guests. The knocking continued, and it started to irritate a special classmate. "Can someone just open the damn door!? It's getting on my nerves!" Bakugo shouted over the knocking. "Bakugo, there is no reason to shout at our unexpected guest at the door." Iida said, gesturing with every word he said. "I'll get it." Midoriya piped up as he got up and walked towards the door. When he opened the door, the class was surprised to see who it was.
"Mr. Aizawa??" The class asked confused. "Well, it's nice to see you too." Aizawa said sarcastically." " Oh, no no. We didn't mean it like that, Mr. Aizawa. We're all just surprised that you came so unexpectedly, that's all." Yayarozou said. Aizawa just sighed and stepped aside, making way for someone the class had never seen before. It was a teenage boy with short, black hair (sort of like Todoroki's hair) and blue ocean like eyes. He was wearing wearing a black hoodie, dark blue denim jeans and black shoes. Everyone was confused as to who this was. Aizawa seemed to be reading their minds because he answered their question. "This is the new exchange student from America I've been telling you about the past week. The one who will be replacing Mineta." " Oh yeah, I forgot about that." Uraraka innocently said. "Forgot about what?" Hagakure asked her. "About Mineta getting kicked out of UA. It just slipped my mind." "Well, it's what that pervert deserves. It was bound to happen eventually." "If you two would just shut up and listen to the new kid, that would save me the trouble of doing it for you." Aizawa coldly stated. Once the room became silent, Aizawa spoke again. "Alright now. You can go ahead and introduce yourself so I don't have to." "Oh, okay. Uh, hi everyone. My name is *Hunter Saito." "Show him his room and help him get settled in. He starts class tomorrow like the rest of you. I'll leave the rest to you." Aizawa said before he left for UA. Midoriya shut the door behind him and helped Hunter with his bags. They set them by the couch and helped Hunter to a seat. Everyone surrounded him wanting to ask him questions.
Iida interrupted the bickering and suggested that they all introduced themselves so that they wouldn't be such strangers to him. And so they did. And after about 10 minutes of trying to remember everyone's names, Hunter eventually got it.
When that got settled, Mina asked the first question. "So, newbie, what was it like in America?" "Oh, it was fine. Lots of heroes there, but not as many with quirks." This interested Deku quite a bit. "Wait, there are heroes.... without quirks?" He asked. "Yeah. At least in the city where I was from." "What made you decide to come here?" Uraraka asked. "Well, my city was getting bad because of the crime rate there and lots of heroes being killed. My parents didn't want me to live in such a bad city. So when they heard about UA, they didn't hesitate to pack up our stuff and move out here." "That's insane!" Mina exclaimed.
Just then, Ojiro came and sat down next to Hunter to ask him the next question. "What's your quirk?" "Oh, my quirk?" Hunter held out his right hand and ignited a flame, taking everyone by surprise. "Oh man. It's almost like Todoroki's quirk." Deku stated. "Well, not completely." Hunter showed five more elements to his new classmates. He showed them ice, water, lightning, earth, and air. Everyone was amazed at his quirk and what it could do. Iida had to tell him to stop using his quirk in the dorms, as it was against the rules. Hunter obliged and stopped using his quirk. "But I must say, it is quite an impressive quirk. I would never have guessed that you had such a powerful quirk." "Thanks, Iida. I wouldn't call it powerful exactly, though." "Well, these bags won't move themselves. We better start helping you settle in." Iida suggested. And everyone (except bakugo) agreed.
After an entire afternoon of asking questions and helping Hunter set up his room, everyone sat down in the living room at around 7 at night. Everyone had gotten to know Hunter and his hobbies, and Hunter had made a bunch of new friends. Everyone was just chilling with Hunter, wanting to hang out with him. This soon became a commotion that neither Bakugo or Iida could stand. "No way, man! I wanna hang out with Hunter!" Kirishima shouted. "Oh, please! You only wanted to hang out with him after I said I wanted to hang out with him!" Kaminari shouted back. "I wanna hang out with the newbie!" Mina complained. "He obviously wants to hang out with me!" Kaminari and Kirishima shouted. This led to an argument between the three friends, making Hunter uncomfortable, and Bakugo and Iida irritated. It wasn't until Iida shouted that everyone shut up.
"EVERYONE, SETTLE DOWN THIS INSTANT!" He shouted at the top of his lungs. Immediately, he bowed. "My apologies for shouting, but this is just nonsense." He stood straight up again. "You guys shouldn't be fighting over who gets to hang out with him." "Four eyes is right. You arguing over an extra is just annoying and it's pissing me off." Bakugo chimed in. Iida looked at him like he was crazy. "He has a name, you know." "Shut it, extra. I'm trying to relax." Iida sighed and turned back towards the squabbling trio. "Besides, it's getting late. We shouldn't be making so much noise at this hour. And look at him. Does he look like he's enjoying you guys fighting over him?" They all looked at Hunter, who was a little shaken by the argument. "You're right, class rep." Mina said. "Shouting at each other isn't gonna get us to hang out with the newbie." She turned to Kirishima and Kaminari. "I'm sorry, boys." "Yeah, me too." "Me three." They all hugged it out with each other.
"Good. Now that that's taken care of, I think it's about time we all head to bed. You don't know how this works, Hunter, but we all have to be in our rooms by 7:30, and lights out by 8." Iida explained. And so everyone said their good nights and went to their rooms. The only ones left in the living room was Ojiro, Midoriya, and Hunter. Deku and Ojiro walked Hunter to his room (which was in between Ojiro's and Todoroki's rooms), said their good nights, and walked to their own rooms. Hunter closed his door and immediately collapsed on his bed, exhausted from today. He did so much today, that he just wanted to sleep. But before he did, he made sure to set his alarm to 5 in the morning so he could get some things done before the others woke up. As soon as he did that, he finally fell asleep, knowing that his new life would be amazing.

~
The next week had been amazing for everyone. Because Hunter was so smart, he helped some of his classmates (looking at you, Kaminari) study the homework and study for tests. He was a very patient and fun tutor, who even gave Yayarozou a run for her money (pun intended). And because of that, the class average bumped up from 73% to 94%, the best class average 1A had ever. Not only that, but training had been amazing. Hunter showed off his quirk and created some new moves, his combat has improved, and he passed the Quirk Apprehension Test at a solid 3rd place, earning him a free hero costume paid for by Aizawa and All Might. The class had been really amazed by the new kid. Even Bakugo noticed that he was worth more than an extra, so he now had some respect for him (sort of like how he respects Uraraka).
The week had passed, and the class had a free weekend to themselves. On this beautiful Saturday morning, they got the school's permission to go to Ground Beta for some training. They invited Hunter along for training, and he agreed. So all morning, they've been training to gain better control over their quirks. At one point, Kaminari suggested a fun little free for all game to not only train their quirks, but also have fun doing so. Iida agreed, and so the game had begun. After a while, almost everyone was out, and the only ones left in the game were Iida, Deku, Hunter, Bakugo, Todoroki, and Tokoyami.
Iida made a swift move towards Todoroki, knowing that he had to tag him out since he's the only one, besides Tokoyami, who had an offensive and defensive ability. Shoto noticed the speedster and used his ice to slow him down. Iida noticed this and ran around the ice. He was on Todoroki's right side, ready to tag him, but someone else had already tagged the class rep. Iida looked over and saw Midoriya's hand on his shoulder. Iida bowed and congratulated Deku before he left to join his classmates. Deku jumped away from Todoroki, who jumped away from Bakugo blasting towards him at full speed. Hunter and Tokoyami we're trying to tag each other, with Tokoyami having the slight advantage thanks to Dark Shadow. Eventually, Hunter used fire to make Dark Shadow get weaker, then moved closer to Tokoyami and tagged him while he was blinded by the light. Tokoyami mimicked Iida and went to the sidelines. Now it was just Deku, Bakugo, Todoroki, and Hunter.
Midoriya and Todoroki left the field easily because both of them had tagged each other at the same time. Now it was just Hunter and Bakugo. Bakugo blasted at Hunter trying to tag him, but Hunter dodged and used wind to blow Bakugo away. Then, using his ice, he created a sort of ice ramp to run on towards Bakugo. The explosive hero noticed this and blasted his way towards him, this time with a plan in mind. Hunter knew he was in trouble, so he made a wall out of the earth, which Bakugo blasted down using his AP Shot: Auto Cannon. They dodged and attacked for a while until Bakugo used his Stun Grenade to blind Hunter. Then, he jumped towards Hunter and tried to tag his shoulder. But because he himself couldn't see where his hand was going, he ended up accidentally poking Hunter's side, causing him to yelp in surprise. When the light went away, everyone noticed Hunter bowing down in defeat, as Bakugo had won the game. Everyone came in and congratulated Bakugo for his victory, but he didn't pay any attention to that. He was too busy trying to figure out why Hunter made that sound.
Just then, Kaminari and Jiro pulled Bakugo to the side, wanting to talk to him. "What the hell do you two want?" He asked. "You heard it too, didn't you?" Jiro asked. "When Hunter made that sound?" "Obviously, I heard it. I was there, you idiot." "Well, what if I told you I know why he did that?" Kaminari said with a smirk. "I swear if it's something stupid, dunce face, I'm gonna pulverize you so bad, it'll make your quirk's side effect look like child's play." Kaminari gulped and backed away a little. "Noted. But it's actually a good one. Now hear me out. What if Hunter made that sound.....because you tickled him?" Bakugo looked at him like he just tried his brain from using his quirk. "For once, I actually agree with Denki. You know you can't see where you're going when you use your Stun Grenade. So maybe you accidentally poked his side instead of tagging him." Jiro stated. Bakugo thought about it. And he agreed with them (at least, in his head). No one would ever make that kind of specific sound on purpose. "And so what? What do you two idiots plan on doing?" "Actually, that's the other thing we wanted to talk to you about...."
~
A couple minutes later, everyone was just resting and trying to reenergize. By now, a handful of them were in on the plan: Kaminari, Jiro, Bakugo, Todoroki, Mina, Ojiro, and Shoji. The plan was to find out if Hunter was actually ticklish, and if he was, find out how ticklish he is. Hunter wasn't aware of the plan, but he would be soon. "Okay, everyone! Kaminari and Jiro have something to propose to us!" Iida said. Everyone sat down around the two and listened. "Okay now. Jiro and I have been thinking about how Hunter has been a huge part of this class the past week, and we wanna thank him for that." Everyone clapped for Hunter, making him confused, but happy at the same time. "However, we noticed that he hasn't gone through our endurance test yet." Kaminari stated. The majority of the class was confused. Then, Mina spoke up with a grin. "So that's why we wanted to let Hunter take the test. To see how his endurance level is. So, newbie, come on over." Hunter was suspicious of how Mina was acting, but he just ignored the feeling and went up there.
No sooner had he done that, he felt hands grab his hands and held them above his head. He felt another pair of hands grab his feet and hold them in place. This took him by surprise completely. He tried to break free, but it was no use. "What the... what's the meaning of this!?" He asked panicked. "We're gonna test out your endurance. This is our special endurance test, and only those who pass are truly accepted into the group." Kaminari answered, wiggling his fingers. Hunter couldn't see him because he was behind him. "Well, how are you gonna do that?" He looked at Bakugo holding a finger pointing at his side. "Now, tell me, avatar. How's your endurance level?" Now he understood what was going on. These guys were gonna tickle him. That was the endurance test. "Um, c-c'mon, guys. We don't have to do this. This isn't really necessary." He said, trying not to sound nervous. Bakugo noticed this and got ready to poke him. "And why not?" "Because I, uh....I...." "You're what, newbie?" Hunter didn't even get to answer because both Bakugo and Mina poked his sides. "Hehehey, be careful. I'm ticklish." Hunter said. He heard what he said and looked like he wanted to hit his head against a wall. Did he really just say that in front of his classmates? "Oh, you are, huh?" Bakugo asked with a grin. Hunter gulped. Oh boy, was he gonna get it now.
Bakugo and Mina started tickling his sides. Hunter tried to hold in his laughter, but it was proving to be difficult. "Oh, come on, newbie. You know it tiiiiiiickles. You know you wanna laaaaaugh." Oh, Mina's teasing wasn't helping him at all. Bakugo looked like he was gonna give up. Had it not been for Ojiro skittering across his ribs for a split second, Bakugo would've blown a fuse. "Aaah! Hahahahaha! Dahahahahahahahammihihihihit!" "Hey hey hey. No swearing. That's rude and not nice." Mina said. She then proceeded to squeeze his left side, while Bakugo spider tickled his right side. Both tickles were driving him crazy with laughter. "Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Cuhuhut it ohohohout! Plehehehehehehease!" "Sorry, buddy. No can do. We have to see where your endurance level is at." Kaminari said. "Dahaahahammihhihit, Denkihihihihi! I knohohow this ihihihisn't a tehehehest!" "Hey, what did Mina say about the swearing?" Hunter was just about to answer, but he felt fingers running across his feet. "Hehehehehehe! Hehehehehehehehe! Nohohohohoho! Nohohohot there!" He looked to see Todoroki and Kaminari tickling each foot. He tried to get free again, but couldn't move so much as an inch. "Why not here, huh?" Kaminari asked. "Is it because you want us to test your endurance level somewhere somewhere else?" Todoroki blankly asked. "Yohohou mean tihihihihickle mehehe?" "I mean, if you really want us to..." Kaminari said. In his head, Hunter cursed at himself for falling for that trick.
Soon, Kaminari started tickling his hips, running his fingers up and down at a fast pace. This had a little bit more of an effect on him. "Hehehehehehehehe! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Stahahahap! Plehehehehehehease! Ihihit tihihihihickles!" "Um, that's sort of the point." Todoroki said.
Shoji was just standing there, holding Hunter's arms up while at the same time blowing raspberries on his neck using his quirk. The class was just sitting there, watching as the new kid got wrecked. They were commenting on the fun happening in front of them, saying things like "How cute!" and "Isn't he cute?" and "Make him giggle again!" Hunter was now wondering why his classmates weren't helping him out of this situation. "Why ihihihisn't anyone hehehehelping mehehehehe?" "Because you're too adorable like this." Ojiro remarked, making Hunter blush. Just then, Bakugo jabbed his fingers into his ribs, earning a squeal from the younger hero. "GAhaHahahAha! Dohohohon't do thahahahahat!" "Don't do what, avatar? This?" Bakugo repeated what he just did, making Hunter squeal again. This made Bakugo grin even wider. "Oh, you mean don't do that. Why is that? Would you rather me do this?" Bakugo have Hunter's right thigh a quick squeeze. Hunter jolted away from Bakugo when he did that. "GAAAAAHaHaHaHa!" Everyone aww'd at that.
"Wow. I never knew Hunter was this ticklish." Kirishima remarked. Uraraka chimed in. "Yeah, but he's not as ticklish as Deku." Deku was taken aback by the sudden call. "T-That's not true! I'm not even ticklish!" Tsu squeezed his hip, making him almost bark and roll over towards Iida. "Really? I couldn't tell." Tsu calmly (and sarcastically) said. What got their attention against was Hunter screaming. They quickly turned to see that the tickling came to a halt.
"Hey, Bakugo. I think we found his weak spot." Kaminari said. "No shit, you dumbass! Obviously I know that!" "Ojiro, do that again." Shoji said. Ojiro did, and Hunter screamed again. This made everyone grin. Kaminari had an idea that would probably get the new kid killed. "Hey, guys. Why don't you join in? This is an endurance test after all." "NONONONONO! PLEASE DON'T!" Hunter shouted. But everyone (yes, I mean everyone) already got up and positioned themselves next to all of his tickle spots, including his back. "Alrighty, guys. Just one more thing before we do this. Leave his most ticklish spot to Ojiro. He's gonna finish him off for us." Kaminari said to the class. And they agreed. Hunter gulped and made a silent prayer, hoping that someone would stop this. "Three....." The class started counting down. "Two....." Hunter was hanging on to his hope for dear life, hoping that someone, anyone, would save him. "One....." Hunter just gave up at this point, knowing he couldn't get out of this "endurance test" anymore. "Class 1A Ultimate Tickle Attack!"
They had Hunter screaming with laughter for three minutes, but to him, it felt like forever. Eventually, everyone stopped (except Shoji, who was still holding Hunter), letting Ojiro sit in front of an out-of-breath Hunter. Ojiro got his tail ready, along with his fingers. "Ojiro..... please, no......" Ojiro just grinned. "My....my stomach is.....too ticklish.....I can't......handle it....." "Sorry, buddy. But I just gotta hear that adorable laugh again." Hunter looked at him extremely worried. He noticed Ojiro's grin, his tail, his..... blush? *Wait, was Ojiro actually blushing?
Hunter immediately forgot about what he was thinking about when Ojiro starting full on tickling his poor tummy. Ojiro was told to be ruthless on his tummy. Did he feel bad about doing this ruthlessly? Yes. But was it worth seeing Hunter laugh so adorably? Yes. "AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! PLEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEASE! STAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAP! I CAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAN'T TAHAHAHAKE IT! NONONONONO! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" *Ojiro started blushing like crazy. The way Hunter's hair was wildly waving around, the way his laugh was warming his heart, the way his torso was wiggling back and forth.....it was all a little too much for Ojiro to handle.
Remembering his mission, he pulled up Hunter's shirt, revealing his surprisingly smooth abs. He used his tail to swirl around his abdomen, teasing him in the process. "Tickle, tickle, tickle." "NOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO! NOHOHOHOT THE TAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAIL! IT TIHIHIHIHICKLES TOO MUCH! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" " Aww, aren't you adorable?"Ojiro teased. Hunter blushed, but it wasn't noticable because his face was already red. "Hey, Hunter. You getting hungry? Cause I sure am. And I am on this new diet I'm trying. I only eat a couple of fruits a day. One of them are my favorites, though." Hunter quickly shook his head, too busy laughing his ass off to say no. "That fruit I like so much are called......" Ojiro leaned closer to his stomach. "Raspberries!" With one big breath, he blew into Hunters stomach, while also giving him butterfly tickles with his fingers and swirling his tail across the stomach. Hunter knew he was gonna die. He just never expected his death to be by tickling. And by his friends, of all people.
"AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! TOO MUCH! I CAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAN'T TAHAHAHAKE IT! MAHAHAHAHAHAKE IT STAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAP! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" This went on for about another minute. Hunter felt his body slowly becoming weaker by the second, and he knew if he didn't say anything soon, he would pass out. And most likely wet himself from all of the tickling. "I GIHIIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIVE! I GIHIIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIVE! UHUHUHUNCLE! MEHEHEHEHERCY! I'LL DOHOHOHOHO ANYTHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHING! JUST STAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAP!" And with one final raspberry to the tummy, Ojiro finally stopped, and Shoji let him go. Hunter collapsed onto the ground in exhaustion. He tried to get as much air into his lungs as possible. All of Class 1A (this time, including Bakugo) helped him breathe and gave him water to hydrate his body. Bakugo, Jiro, Iida, and Sero were chewing out Kaminari for doing such a thing to Hunter. They even promised to get him for doing something so horribly. Kaminari fought back, saying that they were in on it too, and that he wasn't the only guilty one. While he did make a fair point, no one cared because it was his idea in the first place.
After about ten minutes, Hunter could stand up straight and breathe and talk normally again. "Hey, Hunter. You okay?" Deku asked. "Yeah.... I'm fine, Midoriya. Just a little weak, is all." "Oh, don't worry about that. Well make sure that Kaminari gets what he deserves." Iida said, looking at him and scaring Kaminari into running away, but being caught later by Bakugo and Kirishima. "The most important thing is that you're okay now. My deepest apologies for not stopping the attack sooner. I had no idea they were gonna tickle you for an hour." 'An hour!? Are you serious!?', Hunter said in his head.
"Yeah, I'm sorry about that, bro. I just wanted to see how ticklish you were. I understand if you hate me and don't wanna do that ever again and-" Kaminari started to say, but was interrupted by Hunter. "Who said I hate you?" This took Denki by surprise. "What?" "Dude, I don't hate you. Yeah, I'm a little pissed off that you did all that. But I won't hold a grudge against you for something like this." "Oh. Well, thanks, man. Again, I am so sorry." "It's fine, Kaminari. I forgive you. But you should've just asked me if I was ticklish. That would've been much easier than tricking me." That shocked everyone in the room. "Hold up. Are you telling me that we could've just asked you this entire damn time?!" Bakugo asked angrily. Hunter nodded. Bakugo looked over at Denki with his "You have 3 seconds to run before I murder you" look. Kaminari wasted no time in running away. Bakugo soon chased after him, catching him seconds later. Bakugo was saying things like "You damn idiot!" or "I'll fucking kill you, Pikachu!" or "Eat this, you stupid extra!", and no one cared about that. They let Bakugo beat Kaminari into a pulp cause it's what he deserves.
"So, anyways, you're pretty ticklish, aren't you?" Midoriya asked. "Yeah, I am. But I don't see that as a bad thing. In fact, I found it pretty fun." Hunter answered with confidence. "Wait. You're telling is that you actually enjoyed us tickle torturing you?" Kirishima asked. "Well, yes and no. Yes because I find tickling fun. And no because I don't want to be tortured with tickling. At least, not if it's with any bad intentions, like killing or revealing private information to use for evil purposes. What I like is a fair tickle fight. I like being tickled and tickling others." All the class stepped back a little after hearing that. "Don't worry. I'm not gonna get you guys back after that. You guys were just innocent victims roped into this." Everyone sighed and stepped closer to Hunter. 'That's what I want you to think. I'm definitely gonna get you guys back for that.' Hunter plotted in his mind.
"But man, you sure handled that like a pro. I could never do anything like that. You sure are manly." Kirishima complemented. "Thanks, Kirishima. So I guess all that was really an endurance test, huh?" "Yeah. And now that you passed, you're officially one of us now." "Which reminds me, you need a nickname, newbie." Mina said. "I'll take a nickname that's preferably not 'newbie'." Everyone laughed at that. Then, Kirishima got an idea. "Hey, your nickname could be Huntz. It has a nice ring to it." Hunter thought about it for a while. No one has ever giving him a nickname, so he really liked this one. "That sounds amazing. I like it." He said. Everyone clapped and cheered.
Iida soon said they had to get back to the dorms because of lunch. So everyone went on their way. The only ones who stayed behind were Ojiro and Hunter to clean up the mess. They hung out and talked some more, and after a while, they got done. *Hunter kept staring at Ojiro a lot. Mainly because of the way Ojiro had spoken to him while tickling him. His voice was soft and kind and innocent. Unlike any other voice he's ever heard before. And the way he looked was just so.....
Sato had called out to them, saying to hurry up or else all the lunch would be gone. After hearing that from their chef, together they ran out and towards the dorms, racing each other along the way. Hunter had to admit: maybe his new life would be so much better then he had expected. He had lots of friends, he has more fun times with them....and now, he has another secret that he has to keep from his friends. While hanging out with Ojiro, he realized something. He realized..... that he developed a crush on his monkey tailed classmate.

And that concludes my first story. I hope you liked it.
*While researching last names for Hunter, I found one that I liked, but found out that the name already exists in real life. And im too lazy to do more research and create a brand new name for him, so that's his name.
*Yes, Ojiro did blush. You'll find out why in the next note.
*This has turned into a Miraculous thing. Yes, both Ojiro and Hunter have a crush on each other, but they're both oblivious to it, even if it's waving under their noses.
That's all the notes I have to write. If there's a mistake I made, please let me know. And im open for any ideas you may have. I'll write more of these stories in the future to come. Have a good day/night, and may luck and love bring you peace and joy in life.

02.
everything has changed (whether we like it or not)
When did everything change?
That was an easy question to answer, really. But there was more to it.
Everything could go back to the time Bakugouu first discovered his quirk in kindergarten, he had just turned 5, during playtime, he playfully shoved you before you felt force, heat – an explosion, before faceplanting to the ground.
Little Izuku ran towards you, helping you off your feet. Meeting the panicked look in your best friend’s eyes, you turned back to the blond, staring at his palms in awe, at the little explosions emitting off his sweat.
Funny enough, whenever he sweats, it was always sweet-smelling, never foul or salty.
“Uwah, amazing quirk, Katsuk!” your teacher said, kneeling down to give your best friend an appraising look.
Carmine eyes looked up from his palm, tiny explosives going off excitedly.
“Cool! His quirk’s so cool!”
“It’s so radical, just like him!”
Beside you, Izuku’s eyes sparkled with excitement, happy for your best friend for finally manifesting his own quirk.
“Kacchan’s amazing!”
Discovering your quirk at such a young age, especially with an amazing quirk, should be exciting. However, the look in Katsuki’s carmine eyes was scaring you.
The more he was praised for his quirk, the more his explosions went off, the more the gleam in his eyes was scaring you.
Who is…? What is this?
“Ah, I see. I’m just awesome, and everyone else isn’t!”
Later that day, a small burnt mark was found at the back of your neck. A tell-tale reminder of what’s to come.
And then, Izuku found out that he was quirkless.
It was supposed to be a secret between the three of you, but somehow, everyone caught wind of it and began avoiding Izuku, lest they get caught with his ‘quirkless’ germs. Because you were with him a lot, not showing signs of quirk, kids easily assumed that the quirkless germs were true.
Was that when things changed?
After kindergarten, Katsuki found himself a new set of friends, those who weren’t quirkless like you and Izuku, friends who had cool quirks that could considerably pass up to his.
Since discovering his quirk, not only did it fuel his ego, but it also put a strain on your once impenetrable and inseparable friendship.
Now, he was more bent on being the best of the best, together with his amazing quirk that’ll surely bring him there no problem.
Everyone else were just beneath him, not worth his time, effort, or breath. Especially Deku – how you detested that nickname, so full of malice, disgust, and mockery – everything Izuku didn’t deserve, especially from his once best friend.
Since then, he’s deserted the two of you.
You didn’t care, you had Izuku.
Fuck Bakugou and his new quirk, ambition, and shittiness.
You didn’t need him anyway.

From: Izuku
To: (Name)
(Nickname)! I’m doing well. Just having lunch with my classmates right now!
Tapping the photo, you could see Izuku smiling at the camera with a few friends in the shot – the brown-haired girl, Uraraka Ochako, the bespectacled boy, Iida Tenya, and the quiet boy, too busy eating his soba, Todoroki Shouto. It made you smile in return, having your own lunch as of texting.
To: Izuku
From: (Name)
You better eat up, then. You hear me?
Also, stop being so reckless and take care, okay?
Right after the events at UA – the whole League of Villains intercepting the school, Izuku was, more than ever, always brought to the clinic. And you, being one of his immediate contacts (next to his mom), would rush over just to check on him, fighting a tooth and nail just to be with him. And time and time again, Izuku would give you an apologetic smile, matched with his unyielding assuring words, kind eyes, and warm hug.
The only thing you ever hated about Izuku is his recklessness, wrought by his strong sense of justice.
Having enough of everything he’s been through, it was only fair that he revealed something to you, something to explain a bit of him getting accepted at one of the most prestigious schools in Japan while bearing an almost enduring and testy quirk, a secret he knew he could only entrust to you because you were one of the few people Izuku trusted more than anything in the world – his quirk was not his, but it was passed down to him by All Might.
The revelation was shocking to you, especially because it was tied along with so many other factors you couldn’t begin to fathom. But with enough explanation, eventually, everything seemed to tie together and make better sense.
Although worried about his well-being, once again, Izuku was quick to assure you that he was working his best to make everyone – not just his idol, All Might – proud and safe. That was more than enough for you.
Still, it was such a big secret to bear. But, obviously, he trusted you, because you were his best friend.
Well, you and that other guy, for some reason.
"(Name)-san, you're going to snap that broom in half!" your co-worker called out.
Loosening your hold, you inspected the wood, glad to see that it was still intact. It was still three minutes past four, you realize, just a few minutes before dusk.
Sighing, you turned to your co-worker with an apologetic smile. "Sorry, Otoha, just got something on my mind."
Izuku did tell Bakugouu his secret in a roundabout way, the blond would at least catch on to that, being a smart asshole. You just couldn’t wrap your head at the idea of having to entrust him Izuku’s big secret.
The younger girl tilts her head to the side, in thought, as she stares at you. "Are you sure? You seem to be out of it since this morning."
"Yeah, I am. Promise."
Right after revealing his secret, Izuku had planned to have you and the famed Symbol of Peace meet – to assure both parties. But you declined, knowing how busy hero work was.
(Also, to be in his presence would be something. You couldn’t deal with that. Izuku going a mile about how amazing he was made up for it.)
However, with the newfound information given to you, it was almost too much to bear. It was amazing to hear how Izuku was adjusting to his new life, working his hardest, granted that he earned it all. Guilt gnawed your insides, realizing that you were doing him a disservice at the same time, as you had your own secret you weren't telling your best friend.
Exhaling through your nose, you walked around back, to return the cleaning supplies, missing the group of people entering the cafe, hearing only the cheery greetings from Otoha and your other co-workers.
Tumblr media
05:51 pm.
The café was in full bloom, packed with students from various schools filling all the seats. You’d spot some of your regular customers, most don’t stay long whilst stop just drop by for a coffee fix before they’re off.
From the far corner, a small group of students you could only guess were from UA, judging from their uniform, were making quite a ruckus.
Thankfully, there was enough staff that day.
Still, working was taxing!
Off to handle drinks, you kept the newbies by your side, promptly teaching them how to mix orders, which cups to use for which drinks, the amount of syrup, etcetera before they finished up for you and you were left to prepare another order. Like clockwork, they’d be back by your side for another order, and the process would start all over again.
Seeing as how well they were doing, you decided to leave them to make their own drinks as you worked on your own. Coming up to serve at the bar, readying your smile, your expression froze as you were met with the last person you wanted to see.
"The fuck-"
Not letting him finish, you forced the smile on back before practically shoving the drink into his hands, uncaring that it almost spilled over.
“Oi-“
"Enjoy your drinks, sir!"
Otoha, your young, sweet, co-worker, saw the whole thing, flinched at your gesture, warily watching you turn your back to help fix other orders without another bat towards the blond who just stared. Discreetly walking over, to fix her own order, she whispers, "(Name)-san, do you know him-"
"No."
"Are you sure-"
"Yes."
"But-"
"Otoha," turning to her with a pained smile, you reply. "I've never seen him before in my life. Okay?"
Feeling a shiver run down her spine, the younger girl slowly, nervously nodded. "O-Okay..."
“Bakugou my man, are you alright?”
“…”
“That girl looked really pissed at you, do you know her?”
"..."
“Is she an ex-girlfriend? Is that why she was so angry?”
"..."
“Yeah! And you’ve been wanting to head to this café for a while now.”
"..."
“I must admit, she’s kinda cute- “
“I will end you, dunce face.”
Tumblr media
09:08 pm
Ever since she applied, you had taken Otoha under your wing and she all but admired you after your first meeting. You both lived in the same area, so you’d take it upon yourself to walk her home, not trusting a young teen like her to walk alone, especially when evil abounded. Also, she was quirkless.
That night, you were walking along the quiet streets, hands in your pockets as Otoha hummed under her breath. You stopped, ears picking up on footsteps – two, no three people were trailing after you. Gently taking the girl by the arm, you led her to another route, to a busier area, hoping to lose them.
Otoha was too gung-ho about her surroundings to understand your predicament, which was probably for the best. Still, you could feel them behind you.
Exiting the busy lane, the two of you crossed the street, turned a corner, into an empty square. Just as you walked in, so did they – three guys in godawful flashy clothes.
Scared, the younger girl hid behind you and you took a step forward, shielding her from their lecherous gaze.
“Can we help you?”
One of them laughed, some pansy in ridiculous SUPRA outfit waltzed towards you.
“Oh no, no, no, can we help you, young misses?”
You had to roll your eyes at that.
“Well, let’s see, it’s late at night,” he drawled, flashing gold in his teeth “two girls are out walking out,” his two companions chuckled “dangerous is it not?”
Your expression remained, betraying nothing. The pansy decided to talk some more, probably on some shit about chivalry.
“And well, we gentlemen thought it would be just right to walk you girls home!” And there it was. “It’s dangerous for little girls to be out so late.”
And he was right.
“Otoha,” you whispered, as he continued to babble. “take this alleyway,” to gesture with a quick tilt of your head, something the guys didn’t notice. “go straight then turn to your first left, you’ll be safe then.”
“E-Eh? How about you?”
Smiling, you met her gaze. “I’ll be fine.”
“…So, little girls, what’s it gonna be?”
Crossing your arms, you sighed. “Well, you guys do have a point…”
They smile amongst themselves, rather smugly.
“But” taking Otoha’s hand, you tugged her towards the alleyway, pushing her with all you have onto her shoulders. “I don’t trust fuckers who look like they belong to the world’s worst dance troupe that easily!”
The younger girl took this as her cue, albeit slightly confused, but fuelled by panic to run for it.
Loosening your bag, you allow it fall off your shoulders, before it hit the ground, and just as his goons were about to touch a hide of Otoha’s hair, you were before him, eyes ablaze with a ferocious, eerily calm expression on your face, before kicking him away from the young girl.
The force of the kick sends him rolling on the dirt before he’s out cold. One down, exhaling and you fell into a stance, eyes yellow like the moon above you.
Bracing yourself for the next assault, your ears picked up something clinking – a weapon? Ah, knuckle braces which circle his entire fists. Ah, his quirk.
Beside him, his other companion put on his glasses, his godawful flashy clothes engulfing him like an armored suit.
Always gotta be ballsy.
The lights flicker above you; you didn’t move from your spot nor did you deter from their sneers.
“You’ll wish you came willingly like a good girl!” screamed armored flashy guy. Fists hammered against each other and the two were dashing towards you.
Despite being outnumbered, adrenaline rushed through your veins, reeling with excitement as you messed with them, toying at every chance you got.
Dodging a fist thrown your way, eyes caught on the armored flashy guy you easily swung low, aiming for his legs, playing a dangerous tango against two. Sweeping low, you managed to just barely block the kick thrown your way, using the awkward push back, forcing the weight unto your back before swiftly kicking him back.
Once knocked out, you focused on fists, quick to press your body flat against the ground to dodge a measly kick, before lifting your body ever so slightly to deliver a kick to the back of his head, slamming painfully to the ground. Two down.
The light above burst, glass flying everywhere as the armored flashy guy smugly laughed to himself. “Now look what you did, little girl. It’s night out~ A dangerous time for little girls like you~” putting on his shades, which were actually night vision goggles, he walked towards the unsuspecting girl. “And I have to take good care of good girls like you~”
Without turning, you grabbed the hand that reached for your head.
“Eh?”
You could hear the thump of his heart, the hitch of his breath, his muscles moving – it was satisfying to know how much he underestimated you.
“What was it you said again,” came your voice, smooth and calm. “you’d take care of a little girl like me?”
Clenching your hand in his, you heard a crack, he screamed in pain, falling to his knees with one hand in the air.
Head turning, he flinched at the sight of you – eyes once were (e/c) gleamed a dangerous yellow, maybe not like the moon, but of a creature of the moon, a dangerous smirk playing on your lips.
“You’re right, it is dangerous to be out this late at night.”
Faster than the eye can see, you elbow him in the face, hearing a satisfying crack, before tossing him away from you.
Exhaling, you felt your nerves come to a calm. Yellow eyes took in your surroundings, ensuring that they didn’t have any more accomplices.
Three bodies, down and unconscious. You were good. With the help of your heightened senses, you found that Otoha had just fled to safety and that there was an unwanted presence behind you, smelling like burnt sugar and spicy cinnamon.
“Can I help you,” without looking his way, you turned to grab your bag from the ground “Bakugou Katsuki?”
Having seen the whole thing, he was rendered speechless, voice caught in his throat. “(N-Name)…” was all he managed to say, clearly shocked at the new discovery. "Oi, oi, oi, what the fuck? Y-You…you had a quirk all along?"
Exhaling through your nose, quite angrily, you nodded. "Yes."
Even without looking his way, you could tell his expression had changed – feel his heart thump slowly, hear the hitch in his throat – completely seething that he was lied to, kept in the dark.
You barely flinched when he grabbed you by the shoulder, rather forcingly. "Then why the fuck didn't you-"
"Tell you? Oh please, don't give me that bull that you wanted to know." Pushing him away, you didn't mind the pain in your abdomen, choosing to distance from him. "It was enough knowing that you thought having a quirk made you the king of the world and those who didn't were peasants. In layman's term, it wouldn't change a damn thing."
Carmine eyes remained on you, wide, heated, for once not filled with anger, but of confusion. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing." You sighed, tiredly this time, massaging the bridge of your nose.
"No, tell me."
"What good would it do you?"
"I just want to know."
Scoffing, you shook your head, running a hand through your hair. "Your chances were used up; you have no fucking right now."
And with that, you left.

Despite being quirkless, Izuku managed to make up what he lacked with the help of keen observation that was powered by his fascination with quirks. Thus, began his ‘Hero Analysis’ notebooks, in which he’d list down hero after hero, their amazing feats, quirks, abilities, possibilities, theories – basically, a Wikipedia page. In addition, Izuku was stronger than he looked, especially because he had a heart of gold and a strong sense of justice.
You, on the other hand, could care less about quirks. They were something to behold, true, but that doesn’t change the fact that you’re still human just with an added bonus, that’s it.
For the longest time, you withheld the one secret you could never have the heart to tell your best friend – you had a quirk of your own. It wasn't an impressive quirk, but it wasn't a bad one either.
Your quirk was called ‘The Night One’ - having heightened senses, agility, and strength but only at night. Most of your abilities were likened to those of nocturnal animals. When activated, your eyes would turn golden yellow. As the quirk made you active at night, obviously, and making you a bit of an insomniac, its drawback was that it made you restless during morning time.
The Yoruichi family came from a long line of martial artists, all of which mastered every martial art known to man. Before you were 10, you'd mastered it all.
Your family was more of an anti-hero, which is why they chose to lay low and pretend they were normal quirkless folks. It was easier to hide in plain sight, after all. The family had a reputation in the underground business, especially for stealth and espionage work.
Eraserhead was a family friend, he was basically your uncle growing up. He was also your idol.
Your quirk first appeared when you got your first period, which was normal for a female in your family. Not only was it terrifying experience, but you didn’t really care much for it, especially since you just wanted to live a normal life free from the expectations of society and the weight of it.
The thought of heroes and quirks made you skeptic, to say the least. And it was thanks to a certain blond.
However, your parents were more than understanding with your views – however jaded they were, assuring you that it wasn’t all bad.
“But since you’re doing this for Izuku’s sake, I don’t see why not.” Your father had said, patting your head gently.
“He’s my best friend,” 7-year old you were quick to say, cheeks puffing.
“Yes, yes, we know. We all know who you’re really setting your eyes for.” Your grandfather said teasingly, causing your cheeks to burn, sticking your tongue out to him.
Laughter left your parents’ lips, your grandfather included. Gently, your mother took you in her arms, smiling kindly at you. “But, (Name), what you’re doing is quite noble. You may not like what I’m about to say, but what you’re doing is a mark of a hero – putting others before yourself.”
“Still, we’re going to work you to the bone in the Yoruichi fashion!”
Both your parents turned sullenly to your grandfather, clearly displeased.
“Father, please.”
“You ruined the moment, old man.”
Tumblr media
So, when did everything change?
Was it the time Izuku and you were paired more often during class? Katsuki had plenty of friends anyway. He didn’t seem to mind, stating that it was better than being exposed to quirkless germs.
Was it when Izuku and you would still tagalong to play? In the end, Katsuki would leave you in the middle of a game with his new friends.
Or was it the time Katsuki fell off that log?
You could remember it, clear as day, you and bunch of other kids tagged along to play in the forest, Katsuki leading the charge as always, you and Izuku in the last. The lot of you found yourselves with a log that connected the two cliffs together, but Katsuki just walked on, the rest followed. Halfway through, he slipped on the mossy part of the log before falling into the water.
“KATSUKI!/KACCHAN!” both you and Izuku screamed in unison, scurrying down to help him.
While the rest of your friends called out, watching, the two of you were waddling knee-deep into the water towards your best friend.
“Kacchan,” Izuku’s small voice called. “are you okay? Can you stand?”
Yes, you remember it well. The look in his eyes when Izuku offered his hand, offered him refuge and help. You were next to Izuku, unsure of the tense situation at that single moment.
And what did Katsuki do?
He slapped Izuku’s hand away, throwing away everything you three had in the process.
That’s when everything changed.
Tumblr media
Friday, you were working the bar, lazily keeping the counter clean, when the door opened.
“Welcome!” you cried, smile in place, it widened when you were met with green curly locks. “Izuku!”
“Hi, (Nickname)! Uwah, so this is where you work, it’s rather cozy-looking!”
Smiling cheekily, you pressed your palms against the counter, watching as he approached. “Well, it is a café.” Noticing he wasn’t alone, you smiled at the company. “And who are these lovely people?”
“A-Ah, how rude of me! Everyone,” he turned to the small group, who had been watching your interaction quietly. “this is my childhood friend, (Name) Yoruichi.”
“Yo!” you gave a two-fingered salute in greeting.
“(Nickname), these are my friends-“
“I kinda know who they are, Izuku.” You teased, cutting him off, making you laugh. “But, by all means.”
“Greetings, I’m Tenya Iida!” the tall bespectacled boy says, waving his hands robotically, almost dangerously.
“Shouto Todoroki.” The dual-haired boy nods at you, eyeing the menu behind you in interest. Idly, you handed him a menu so he can have a clearer view, he mutters his thanks.
“And I’m Ochako Uraraka!” the lone brunette female says, cheerily, grabbing both your hands in hers. “It’s so nice to finally meet you! Deku-kun talks about you a lot!”
“The pleasure is all mine, then. Thanks so much for taking care of my clumsy little broccoli.”
“(N-Nickname)!”
“Any case!” Iida chops a hand in, catching everyone’s attention. “We shouldn’t dilly dally! We must place our orders!”
“No worries,” you wave at him. “it’s pretty quiet this time of the week. But,” fixing your posture, standing a little straight, you put on your work persona. “anything you’d like to order?”
“I’ll have the chai latte,” says Todoroki, having made his decision. “cold, please.”
“Okay,” nodding, you turn to Iida, who orders a hot mocha, Uraraka orders a strawberry Frappuccino with cheesecake on the side. Uraraka turned to Iida and Todoroki, looking checking for available seats whilst waiting for Izuku – you liked them, they were a good bunch.
Turning to the green-haired boy, he was left eyeing the menu rather clinically, taking his time. Poking his forehead, he blinks at you. “Hot Matcha?”
He chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck. “You know me too well, (Nickname).”
“That I do, Izuku, that I do.”
One thing that never changed though, the one thing you hoped never would, was the friendship you have with Izuku.

My first thought was the webtoon True Beauty 😳😳 I don't know if you guys know it, but it’s a great story (and free to read online!) and the author is kinda infamous for looking exactly like her MC!! Though Iida’s VA, Kaito Ishikawa, 👀 👀 looks exactly like his character IMO!!

The headcanons in question are here, and since the character is already referred to as [Name], I’ll be referring to the voice actor as [V/A] only, but it’s still the reader 😊😊.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Shitty Half-and-half.”
“Bakugou,” Todoroki replied, turning fully to face his former classmate. Several years had passed since they both confronted each other over Todoroki’s [Name] acrylic charm, and even now, both Pro-Heroes deep into their careers, their love for the anime character never waned.
The series had finished up during their last year at U.A., leaving both boys a mess while Aizawa could only wish that he was able to nurse his headache with half a bottle of ibuprofen. Todoroki mourned the fact that they were able to defeat the last arc’s antagonist at the cost of [Name]’s powers leading to their ultimate retirement and Bakugou raged from the ambiguous epilogue where [Name] was seen laying their head on the protagonist’s shoulder while looking out into the sunset.
“Don’t play dumb with me, you damned trust fund kid,” Bakugou spat, pushing himself off the spot where he leaned against the wall and striding over to the taller male. He had filled out in the past several years, nothing but toned biceps and broad shoulders. “You’re thinking exactly what I’m thinking.”
“What?” Todoroki asked innocently. His time with Uraraka had paid off, but the cutesy look would only let him get so far. Bakugou was eye-to-eye with his “eternal” rival. Todoroki had only gotten taller recently. Still slender and toned, he was nearly his father’s height and had already surpassed Natsuo.
“Might Con.” Bakugou really had grown from the way he didn’t rage from Todoroki’s feigned ignorance. “You’re going to be there aren’t you?”
Todoroki froze.
The blond smirked at his expression. “I know for a damned fact that your manager scheduled your panel at the exact same time my panel is held —”
“We’re hosting the panel together with Midoriya, Bakugou —” Todoroki tried to say.
“At the exact same time as [Name]’s fucking seiyuu’s autograph session, huh?”
At Bakugou’s words, both boys were at a standstill.
Due to the popularity of the anime, the voice actors were going to have their schedules jam-packed the entire con with panels, interviews, and meet-and-greets, but due to scheduling conflicts, every voice actor was allowed only one autograph session at a time. Bakugou didn’t care about any of those other shitty extras. He only wanted to meet [Name]’s seiyuu.
The voice actor was infamous for hiding their face during the anime’s run, only doing radio shows or paper interviews. They cited that since they were still a minor by the time the anime came out, they wanted to preserve their privacy, but now that they were of age, they were going to reveal their face at the con for the first time.
But they couldn’t make it. Their entire Pro-Hero career was stabbing itself in the back.
He held a hand out.
“If one of us can’t see [Name]’s voice actor the other can’t.”
It was otaku solidarity.
After a pause Todoroki reached out and shook it once. “Fine.” The two boys dropped their hands as fast as it came.
Yeah.
Not.
Tumblr media
Todoroki Shoto:
Tries to go incognito, but he sucks at it.
He’s wearing shades indoors to hide his heterochromia and his scar, a bucket hat to hide his half-and-half hair, and he’s wearing regular, but not so inconspicuous clothes.
Once he gets to the front of the line, he nearly drops his gigantic load of [Name] merch. If it weren’t for the fact that he’s a Pro, he would’ve needed a wagon to carry the entire thing.
His face immediately flushes.
You’re wearing glasses and a large sweater while smiling and waving happily at the last fan that walked away. His mind is seeing every equation. You look exactly like the High School spin-off your mangaka made after the protagonist wished that everyone was able to live normal lives.
He stutters out, “C-Cosplay...?” softly the moment he gets to your table.
This dude is blushing so hard his face is as red as his hair.
Were you a secret love child, perhaps?
You brighten up and laugh. “Oh, wow — you have a lot of merch,” you laugh and he nearly swoons. “And oh, no! I just look like this normally.”
He mentally thanks his mom for giving birth to him.
You compliment him on his casual Idol!Shoto cosplay and he’s so embarrassed that he nearly lets go of the left side of his Quirk.
“Yeah! You make such a handsome Shoto!” You use your [Name] voice to say, “I love you, Shoto-kun!” and he nearly dies right there.
He uncharacteristically even puts his face into his hands ;; and just screams internally.
You hold up your pen and look at him with such wide eyes and ;;; YOU’RE SO FUCKING CUTE!!
None of the fanfictions have ever prepared him for this.
[“So who should I put these out to?”
He inhales once and quickly goes, “Todoroki, please. Written with the character for ‘a roaring fire.’ I have admired [Name] since their character introduction arc and felt a bond from [Name]’s tragic history and my own. I hated my father for the longest time and wanted to forage my own path similar to [Name] and they gave me strength —”]
You fight to keep the largest grin off your face, but then the door busts open and in walks Ground Zero. The security are all scrambling to stop him, but he barrels through them like dominoes.
[”HALF-AND-HALF!!”
“Oh, Bakugou —”
“I FUCKING KNEW THAT YOU WOULD BE HERE WHEN YOU DIDN’T SHOW UP TO YOUR OWN DAMNED PANEL!!”
Bakugou takes him by the collar and his shades and hat falls and everyone’s immediately fangirl shrieking as Bakugou forcefully drags him away.
“Wait, Bakugou — ! My dakimakura — !“
“Fuck that!”]
After his panel, he’s smugly going through all of the merch you were able to autograph with Bakugou sulking in the corner because he managed to go and Bakugou didn’t and he nearly drops his figurine when he realizes what you wrote in the corner of the box.
“You seem pretty cute, handsome stranger! ;) XXX-XXXX-XXXX”
He discharges his Quirk and Bakugou could be heard shouting, “WHAT THE HELL, HALF-AND-HALF!” in the background.
Tumblr media
Bakugou Katsuki:
He doesn’t even bother hiding the fact that he’s there. Everyone’s so stunned by the fact that the Ground Zero is just storming through the autograph session that the autograph line splits like the Red Sea and he goes right up to you.
When he sees your face he just stops in his place and he does the face above for like five whole seconds.
Did he die and go to heaven?
WAS THAT NOT T H E [SURNAME] [NAME] SITTING IN FRONT OF HIM???
AND YOU LOOK SO SOFT!! Who gave you the motherfucking right to look so cute??? You look exactly like the panel in volume twenty-one, page 105 where [Name] were first seen wearing glasses. (Yes, ofc he remembers the exact page and volume. What was he, a fake fan?)
He didn’t have a thing for megane 😳😳😳 until [Name].
[“You...You fucking look exactly like [Name],” he manages to stutter out.
You blink out of your stupor at the Ground Zero at your autograph session because your manager just elbows you at your side and you nod quickly like an idiot.
“Y-Yeah!” You laugh nervously. “Hahaha, I guess that’s why they chose me to be the voice actor, you know because the voice matches the face — or-or is it the face matches the voice??” The two of you have matching red faces. “I-I even have a Quirk like their’s!” You hold up your hand and activate your Quirk slightly and he goes still.]
H-His wifu/husbando... in the flesh...
All those years of reading metas and watching analysis videos and calculating the compatibility of your Quirks are coming into fuCKING FRUITION!!
And he just grabs your hand out of nowhere, running on pure instinct, wrapping his hand around yours in a vice grip like a claw game and the both of you freeze.
”S-So what would you like me to sign??” you say quickly because he’s holding up the line, but everyone else is watching his go down like a soap opera.
He asks you to sign the manga. The first volume, the volume where you’re introduced, and the last volume.
[“They fucking did [Name] dirty in the series finale,” he says while you sign the manga for him. “They don’t belong with the pissy protagonist.”
“Yeah?” you ask, looking up at him. You gesture for him to lean closer and he does while you whisper in his ear. “Between you and me I don’t ship them either.” You lean back in your chair. “I don’t think the mangaka developed their relationship enough for me to root for them. Personally, I think that that they should just settle down with someone who’s going to make them happy and protect them — “
“I can do that.”
“What,” you blurt out.
“What,” he replies.]
He’s in such a daze that when Deku and Shoto barge into the autograph signing and drag him away he doesn’t even fight back.
HE WANTED SENPAI TO NOTICE HIM BUT NOT LIKE THIS!!
Even through his panel that he nearly missed btw he’s so confused. Equations are spinning around his head.
When he finally has free time and looks at the manga you signed, it read, “Ground Zero, you’re my favorite Hero! Glad you liked the anime! Wanna talk about it some more? XXX-XXXX-XXXX”

Unbreakable
Fandom: My Hero Academia
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Relationships: Kirishima Eijiro/Midoriya Izuku
Characters: Midoriya Izuku, Kirishima Eijiro, Bakugo Katsuki; MINOR ROLES - 1-A students
Summary: “Get out of the way, Kirishima,” Katsuki warns him. “I won’t hesitate to break your face in fucking pieces!”
“Then DO IT! I DON’T CARE!” Kirishima roars. He’s never sounded this angry. “I won’t let you break Midoriya EVER AGAIN!”
--
In which someone finally stands up for Izuku.
AO3 / Fanfiction
A/N: basically I wrote Kirishima being protective of Izuku, because it’s interesting how he hates bullies but never stands up to Bakugo...
I hope this isn’t too OOC. Enjoy!
TRIGGER WARNINGS - minor violence, bullying/abuse and injury.
*NOT BAKUGO/KIRIBAKU/BAKUDEKU FRIENDLY!
--
Izuku is happy, really.
Sure, it can be exhausting. It can be aggravating to live up to what comes with being the Symbol of Peace. And it’s also terrifying the reminder that Katsuki knows about his secret and has a lot more reason to hate him.
Not that Katsuki would ever quit hating Izuku, but still.
In the very least, the explosive boy doesn’t hit Izuku regularly anymore. People in their school don’t take Katsuki seriously like it happened in Middle School, so it’s a relief.
(They constantly call Katsuki and Izuku childhood friends, though.)
(Or rivals. Are they really rivals?)
Regardless, as long as Izuku stays away from Katsuki, he’ll be fine.
So, he’s happy.
--
When they can, 1-A has fun nights that may include eating cake and candies, playing games and watching movies – sometimes all in the same night. His classmates are very united in that sense.
Tonight, they’re sharing a big cake everyone helped Sato with; the teenagers are all separated in groups that fill the common room with life.
Izuku might subconsciously flinch every time a certain voice raises near him. Thankfully, it’s not directed at him – once he looks, he finds Katsuki and his friends messing with him. The greenette sighs in relief.
The boy spends most of the night alongside Uraraka, Iida, Tsuyu and Todoroki. At one point, though, Izuku rests alone on the green couch, honestly a little drained by all the energy today, given the yelling and cursing that persists in what should’ve been a good time.
As his head is stuck in his thoughts, Izuku jolts when someone reaches him in the almost untouched spot.
“Hey, Midoriya! What’s up, man?”
Kirishima grins at him. His usually spiky hair is down today (a detail Izuku strives not to stare at for too long, because that’s creepy).
“K-Kirishima-kun! Hi!” Izuku stammers.
“You partied a lot?”
Izuku laughs shyly, “Yeah, had plenty of cake.”
“That’s the spirit,” Kirishima smiles. “Mind if I take a break with you?”
“A-Ah, sure. I mean, you can sit! Feel free to!”
His red-haired friend sits close to him, maybe… a little too close, the other notes. Izuku holds his cup of now-warm soda, playing with it nervously. Kirishima’s enthusiasm and passion honestly still catch him off guard. At first, Izuku thought he’d be… different. Spiky hair, red eyes, sharp teeth…
Instead, Kirishima turned out to be one of the sweetest and brightest people Izuku has ever known. He brings a lot of spirit to their class.
(And now that Izuku knows, Kirishima does look a lot more friendly and… cute.)
“… Midoriya, you’re looking kind of red…”
Izuku’s green eyes enlarge comically, cheeks burning.
“GAH! I-It’s nothing, Kirishima-kun! It’s just- h-hot in here, isn’t it?” Izuku ignores the fact they’re all wearing sweaters in this chilly night; but he supposes Kirishima does it as well, since he doesn’t touch on it.
If anything, the redhead smiles at him fondly.
(For the love of All Might, it’s too breathtaking.)
Izuku finds some ease, though, in his friend’s heat next to him. Kirishima’s presence is solid and stable like his quirk, but soft and gentle all at same. It perfectly encapsulates who Kirishima is, as a hero and a person.
Still, the freckled boy can’t help but wonder why Kirishima has decided to join him. Izuku is not doing anything particularly interesting. They’re not talking… but it’s not awkward, either.
Regardless, Izuku’s peace is disturbed yet again by Katsuki’s yelling bursts, his steaming hands felt from far away. As always, it’s just Sero, Kaminari and Ashido having fun with him.
Before Izuku can dive in his terrified relief, he’s reminded of the fact Kirishima is next to him, and maybe watching him as well.
“You okay?”
“Y-Yeah! Yeah… Kacchan’s enthusiasm is…” Izuku gulps, “a little too much sometimes.”
“Oh.” Kirishima sounds a little suspicious, but he quickly resumes his smiley nature. “Man, tell me about it,” he jokes.
Izuku holds his plastic cup tighter, refraining himself from tearing it apart and spilling all the soda on the floor.
“I can tell he’s having fun, at least,” Izuku analyzes. “He really likes you guys.”
“Yeah…” Kirishima pauses, only to laugh nervously, “he doesn’t really know how to show that, though.”
(Izuku recalls all the punches to Kirishima’s stony hair, and the insults Katsuki throws at him on a daily basis.)
“At least he likes you, Kirishima-kun,” Izuku reassures him in a lighthearted tone. “Kacchan was never happy with me.”
Admittedly, he hasn’t quite thought over these words – nor was he expecting Kirishima’s concerned gaze, his fondness of Katsuki gone.
“What do you mean?” The red-haired boy inquires.
“Ah, you know…” Izuku clears his throat, as his other classmates party and pay them no mind. “Kacchan’s called me weak since we were kids. He’s always been competitive, and- since my quirk took a while to show up”— he gulps due to the weight of the lie —“we were never…” he trails off, really not wanting to give more details.
“… you were never friends?” Kirishima completes.
Izuku swallows the bitter taste in his mouth and silently shakes his head.
“B-But it’s okay, though! We’re good now,” he tries to convince his friend (… and himself). “I just have to stay away from him because- you know how he is. But he’s got you guys as friends, so I know he’s happy.”
Kirishima looks away, thoughtful. He doesn’t seem entirely relieved by his words. Izuku suddenly feels the need to escape – what has he done?
“I- I need to go to the restroom!” He jumps from the sofa before Kirishima stops him.
Izuku is in such a rush that he doesn’t realize Katsuki is in his way.
“Oi!” Katsuki snaps. His eyes are immediately spiteful. “Deku…”
“K-KACCHAN! SORRY!!” Izuku runs even faster – how embarrassing.
“Get in my way again and I’ll fucking kill you!”
“Bakugo, chill,” Izuku hears Kaminari say nonchalantly.
This is his reality.
He’s happy with it. He is.
--
Everything was fine. Truly. Izuku has no idea what he did wrong.
(He’s never known, beside having no quirk in the past.)
They were training at the gym, outside of class time. Izuku tends to train on his own, but lately he’s been sparring with Kirishima, whose quirk helps with more physical attacks. It also helps Kirishima’s special technique in return.
Basically, Izuku and some of his classmates were going for a break, to drink water and eat whatever strengthens their quirks (like Sato having to eat more sugar). On his way, Izuku passed by Katsuki, who’s literally never in a good mood.
“Deku.”
“S-Sorry, Kacchan! You can go ahead!”
“As if I’ll fucking do what you say,” Katsuki bumps his arm into Izuku, hard, as he mutters in his breath, “shitty nerd.”
Izuku gulped and said nothing else.
(The freckled teen strived to not let One for All concentrate in his clenched fists.)
So, when everyone is gathered, chatting with one another, Izuku is admittedly distant from them. Katsuki would glare at him every now and then just for existing, no matter how far he was.
That’s the reason Izuku refuses to train with all of them when Kirishima suggests. Izuku tells them he’d be on his own again – his tone maybe too tight and serious. His classmates don’t question it, despite their concerned looks. Izuku tries to avoid Kirishima’s in particular – because he loves spending time with them, with him, he really does but…
“Yeah, leave Deku,” Katsuki voices in opposition, “it’s better than dealing with a dead weight.”
“Yikes, Bakugo! That’s really uncalled for!” Kaminari protests.
“I know you guys are rivals, but that’s too much, don’t you think?” Sero scolds.
Izuku stares at Katsuki, ignoring his classmates’ statements. Izuku stares deep into his red eyes: unlike Kirishima’s, they’re dreadful, have been since they were only five. He has the same superior stance and tone. Katsuki is the exact same person as the senseless bully that told Izuku to kill himself not too long ago.
The green-haired teenager’s look becomes intense. Furious. The kind of fury that doesn’t always show, because everything is bound to fall apart.
Even when his eyes avert from Katsuki, that’s what ultimately happens.
“Oi, fucking look at me!”
Despite Katsuki’s terrifying rage, Izuku defies.
“Why should I?” He mumbles, his voice gradually raising and deepening, “I can’t even exist near you.”
“What did you fucking say?”
Izuku’s hands clench into tight fists, glowing with One for All. His green eyes sparkle with intensity and ferocity.
“You heard me, Katsuki.”
The atmosphere is instantly changed.
“H-Hey guys, come on, don’t fight!...” Sero chuckles nervously, only to be pushed away by powerful hands.
Katsuki rages and advances, raising his arm.
Although he can defend himself, Izuku can only brace for the impact.
(It’s what he can do. The anticipation. The acceptance. He’s always expecting a blast to his face, and the reminder that he’ll never be good enough. No matter how hard he tries, whether or not he has a quirk; nothing matters to Katsuki, as long as Izuku stops existing.)
Izuku waits.
But it never comes.
No. He hears the explosion blocked by something hard – hard like a rock. And once Izuku looks up, he covers his mouth to contain a gasp.
“What the hell is your problem?!” Kirishima screams, arms together like a shield, the sharp skin scratched by the burnings of Katsuki’s hands.
Katsuki himself is also shocked for a moment. For one, nobody else has ever dared to get in the way of his attacks, either because they’re too scared of him… or they don’t fear him enough to stop him. But most importantly, Kirishima has never stood up to Katsuki. Kirishima has endured his insults, sure, but he’s never defied him in an actual fight.
“Get out of the way, Kirishima,” Katsuki warns him. “I won’t hesitate to break your face in fucking pieces!”
“Then DO IT! I DON’T CARE!” Kirishima roars. He’s never sounded this angry. “I won’t let you break Midoriya EVER AGAIN!”
Izuku can’t move. He can’t say a word.
Katsuki is about to hit Kirishima again without any remorse, only for Sero to hold him back with as many tapes as he can make. Sato, Shoji and Koda help, while Kaminari tries to calm Kirishima down, which has zero effect.
“You’re not a man, Bakugo! You’re a goddamn abuser!” Kirishima points at him. “And abusers ARE NOT MY FRIENDS!”
“Dude, stop! You’re going to make it worse!” Kaminari scolds him, whereas Katsuki has already reduced himself to incomprehensible, enraged noises. Jiro might even rush to call Aizawa-sensei to hold both Katsuki and Kirishima back.
In spite of all the rage he must be feeling, Kirishima still stands protectively in front of Izuku, instinctively approaching him every time Katsuki threatens to break free and come after them.
Regardless, Izuku can still do nothing.
Nothing at all.
--
As expected, Katsuki and Kirishima are suspended for days – similar to when Izuku was forced to fight his classmate a few months ago.
Uraraka and Todoroki stay with Izuku as they wait. Only Kirishima returns to the dorms for now. His friends initially don’t understand why he fought Katsuki, assuming he’d lost his calm for nothing.
Yet Kirishima answers to none of these questionings. The moment he finds Izuku, his look softens, and he rushes to check over him.
“Midoriya,” he whispers in concern, “are you okay?”
Izuku dumbly gazes at him in response, swallowing a gasp when he notices the damage that Katsuki’s explosion did to Kirishima’s face; even with Recovery Girl’s help, the painful scratches can still be seen.
“K-Kirishima-kun…” Izuku chokes with tears welling up in his eyes, and the many feelings and words he’s struggling to understand.
The boy isn’t sure how he should feel. He’s guilty for putting Kirishima in danger, and for ruining his friendship with Katsuki. But Izuku is also angry at Katsuki for not hesitating to hurt someone that cares so much for him. Izuku is furious that Katsuki hasn’t changed at all.
Even so, the freckled teen feels relief. That someone was there, that someone actually stepped up and defended him.
(That someone was his hero, differently from when All Might saved him from the slime monster.)
Izuku launches himself towards Kirishima, wrapping his shaking arms around him. He wants to say all of those things so badly, but he fails. Kirishima’s soft arms hold him back and caress him, fingers running through his messy green hair.
“It’s okay,” Kirishima whispers to him, and says those same words countless times. Izuku’s cries are muffled by his shirt.
It’s like everything else disappears, and it’s only Kirishima and Izuku in this world. Kirishima shields him from every insult, every kick, every punch and slap across his face and his ruptured heart. Kirishima embraces his scars and making sure to be there to tend to them.
Izuku can only cry.
--
Later that night, Kirishima stays with Izuku in his dorm. It’s not like he can sleep with Katsuki’s room right next to his.
Izuku has already dried his eyes out of tears, and flooded Kirishima’s shirt as a result. Regardless, the two boys are glued to one another in Izuku’s bed, Kirishima rubbing his shoulders and the back of his neck. Izuku can’t help melting and clinging to him.
Even so, Izuku only has one question in mind.
“… Why did you do it?”
“He hurts you,” Kirishima answers simply.
Izuku gulps. “But he’s your friend…”
“I don’t think he was ever really my friend, Midoriya.”
Izuku pulls away to face him, the scratches in Kirishima’s face clearer than ever.
“I remember our first class with All Might. Bakugo wanted to kill you,” Kirishima harshly reminds, hands tighter on Izuku. “I knew there was something wrong with him, and yet I still went on to hang out with him. I admired his skills, I called him a man, I sacrificed everything to save his goddamn life because I cared about him. I… thought he was my friend.” He pauses. “Even when he called me Shitty Hair or hit me… I thought I could endure him – and maybe I did. But in the end, I ignored who he really was, and I let him hurt someone I care about for way too long.”
“No…” Izuku protests, “please don’t blame yourself! I was the one who—”
“Midoriya, you’re my friend. I knew Bakugo sucked, and even if he was my friend, I never did anything! And I’m really, really sorry.” Kirishima cups Izuku’s cheek with one of his hands. “I’m so sorry I ignored you. I promise you, I’m not enduring any of his shit anymore.”
Izuku gapes at him. “Kirishima-kun…”
“If he ‘cares’ about me, I don’t give a crap,” the red-eyed boy says firmly. “He sure as hell doesn’t respect me, only when I behave the way he wants. I don’t owe him anything, and I’m not standing around and letting him hurt me or my friends ever again.”
Maybe he should insist. Tell Kirishima that, if it weren’t for Izuku’s pathetic existence, his friendship with Katsuki wouldn’t have ended.
But Izuku doesn’t.
Because Kirishima is right.
Izuku’s hand touches his face, internally flinching when he feels the wounds caused by Katsuki.
“I just don’t want you to hurt because of me,” Izuku admits.
“Midoriya… nothing Bakugo does to me could ever hurt more than knowing he’s abused you for your whole life.”
Abuse. The same word he used for Katsuki earlier today.
“I’ll make sure he never hurts you again, okay?” Kirishima squeezes him. “I promise.”
Although he doesn’t literally say it, it’s clear to Izuku the love in his friend’s words.
The love in Kirishima’s smile whenever Izuku stutters and says a jumbled mess. The love in Kirishima’s concerned eyes when Izuku insists he’s okay when he isn’t. The love in his red eyes and words when Katsuki hurt him. The love in his touches, his soft hands protecting Izuku, understanding his scars.
Kirishima loves him. He really does.
Izuku bursts in tears again and Kirishima lets him, soothing him until the end.

Cult Leader Villain!Deku - Engagement and Suspicion Pt. 2
On Wednesday mornings, there was always one thing that Shouta could count on: Todoroki and Uraraka showing up at least fifteen minutes late to homeroom. And, according to Principal Nezu, there was nothing he could do to punish the two of them for it. Something about exemptions made for religious practices or something. All Shouta knew about it was that apparently Todoroki and Uraraka had to do some sort of special ritual every Wednesday morning that meant they had to take a later train in order to get to school. Whatever it was, it was illogical to prioritize worshiping someone or something (that probably wasn't real in the first place) over one's education, especially when in the hero course, where actual real lives were potentially on the line.
As for the students who weren't late to class every Wednesday, it was always up in the air as to who would be early, on time, or sneak in just as the bell rings. Today the early birds included Iida and Bakugo (no surprises there), Momo, Jirou, and (slightly more surprising) the entirety of Bakugo's little entourage.
As Shouta slipped into the room to start putting the day's schedule on the board, he mostly tried to ignore the group's gossip but it caught his attention when he heard Ashido gasp before saying something about one of his two most elusive students.
"- you're kidding me right?? Todoroki said that?!"
"Yeah, Denks was asking him about this mark on his arm that he and Kiri had noticed in the locker room, turns out it's some sort of tattoo for their little cult thing" Tattoos? Cult? Shouta snorted quietly to himself - well that was mildly concerning, but teenage gossip was hardly a reliable source. Whatever this interaction Sero was describing was certainly interesting though. "Anyway he was telling us what all the different parts of it meant, and get this, he told us that the part with the leaves- uhhhh how did he put it Kiri?"
"He explained to us that the leaves were uhhh yarrow leaves I think - don't quote me on that - and he more or less said that they 'symbolized his engagement' or something to that effect."
Shouta froze. That couldn't be right. As he started to turn he noticed that Jirou and Momo had also approached the group to join the conversation.
"Wait, wait," this came from Jirou, "Todoroki's engaged? To like ... a person?"
"Yep," Kirishima answered eyes wide as he nodded in affirmation.
"At first Kiri and I were convinced we had misheard or misunderstood, but when we asked for clarification Uraraka told us that he was engaged to a human person, and when we asked if maybe it was arranged or something he totally blew up at us."
Kaminari nodded his head violently in agreement with Sero as Kirishima cut back in, "Uraraka and him were super pissed that we asked that and he started going on about how they were 'given God's blessing' and that they had apparently fasted for like a week or something."
Shouta blinked, it seemed as though each word that poured from Sero or Kirishima was ten times more concerning then the last-
"And that's not even the half of it," Sero cut in once more, "We, definitely, one-hundred percent heard Uraraka say that the person he is engaged to... is 'The Verdant Angel'."
Now Shouta had no fucking idea what the hell that was but based on Yaoyorozu's gasp and Mina's "No freaking way", his students clearly did.
After a half second of silence Jirou let out a derisive snort before crossing her arms and lifting a single eyebrow, "You guys are bullshitting us aren't you?"
"We are not!" came Kaminari's indignant reply.
"Todoroki is fifteen, the same as the rest of us, there's no way the leading figure of his religion-"
"Cult," Sero coughed into his fist.
-is engaged to him" Jirou finished and turned to look at Sero more directly, "And there's no proof his religion is a cult guys, I saw an article about them just the other day talking about the work they've been doing with the local homeless shelters and how they have been putting together a support network for children facing quirk abuse and discrimination. Cults are abusive and controlling by definition, you guys are just being mean."
Shouta let out a slow breath and turned back to the board to finish the last bit of the schedule before crawling into his sleeping bag to try and fit in a quick nap before the bell rang, Jirou had a good head on her shoulders and made some valid points, Shouta would look into his wayward students religious practices later just to be sure, but it seemed pretty likely that Kirishima, Kaminari, and Sero were exaggerating about their supposed recent interaction (as teens are wont to do). As he slowly shut his eyes he picked up the tail end of their conversation-
"Well if you don't believe us then one of you should ask him out after class and see how he responds, I guarantee he'll say something weird about it."
"Fine, Momo can do it since she's the most familiar with him"
"Well, uh, actu-"
"Deal!"
----------
True to form, the bell rang and it was another twenty minutes before Todoroki and Uraraka shuffled quietly in to class while Shouta explained about upcoming events they would have to participate in as first year hero students before setting them to use the rest of homeroom as a study session. As he watched on he couldn't help the slight discomfort he felt in his stomach when he looked over at Todoroki and Uraraka. While teenagers aren't the most reliable source of information, much of what was said earlier was highly concerning and it would probably be smart to keep a closer eye on the two.
Shouta had almost forgotten about the latter portion of the kids conversation when he looked up to see Yaoyorozu walking sheepishly over to the dual haired boy's desk, with 2 minutes left of class.
"Hey, um Todoroki. How are you?"
The boy blinked slowly up at her before replying, "I am well."
Yaoyorozu laughed slightly, "Oh that's good, I was wondering umm, maybe if you're free sometime, if you would like to go out... on a date. Go out on a date... with me?"
"Oh," he blinks up owlishly at her from his chair, "no thank you," then turns back to his work.
Yaoyorozu starts to turn back to her seat when Sero and Kirishima wave her back, as though telling her to keep going.
"-uhhhh," she pauses and turns back once more, "Could I ask why not?"
"Well," Todoroki said looking up at her once more, "I am already betrothed to God's redeemer, to date you would be to turn my back on God."
Yaoyorozu made a high-pitched hum of slight discomfort as all the air left Shouta's lungs. Perhaps Shouta had been too quick to agree with Jirou's assessment of the boys' gossip. Because as much as he hated to admit it. That definitely sounded like cult stuff, in the worst possible way.
If Shouta felt dazed until the end of the day that was no one else's business. And if at the end of the day he asked Todoroki and Uraraka to stay behind well...
"Are you two okay? Is there anything going on that you need help with?"
They blinked slowly at him.
"No, we're fine Sensei." Uraraka said hesitantly in response.
Shouta breathed out, of course it wouldn't be that simple.
"Well if either of you ever need someone to talk to, of if you need any help at all - you can come to me or any of the staff at UA and we will help you. Okay?"
"Yes Sensei," they said in what Shouta could only describe as creepily perfect unison.
He sighed once more, "You two are free to go."
They looked at him a bit longer, squinting their eyes in confusion, or maybe suspicion, before turning to leave. Leaning in to whisper with each other as they exited the room with one last glance at Shouta.
He buried his face in his hands, rubbing at his temples to combat the incoming headache. He really, really, didn't want to - but it seemed like he might have to dig into the religious practices of his students on the off chance they may have joined a dangerous cult.

BNHA Chapter 306 Spoilers Quick Thoughts: Holy Shit, Deku
Ok, I’ve decided to wait until I read the ReadMHA fan translations to make a full “Spoiler Thoughts” post because it’s easier for me to look at them than look back and fourth at various Twitter accounts to get the full picture.  Regarless, THIS CHAPTER OH MY GOD!!!!!!!  I haven’t been this antsy for leak images since the “Dabi is Touya Todoroki” reveal.  I wanted to write this last night, but I was already in bed crying and screaming my head off that I couldn’t.  Now that I have most of it processed, I need to write down some quick thoughts at least to get some stuff out:
First of all, I need to address THE BALLS ON HORIKOSHI-SENSEI FOR PULLING THIS SHIT OUT ON US AND MAKING IT WORK SWEET JESUS I DID NOT SEE THIS COMING AT ALL!!!!!!  THIS MAN BAITED US WITH THE 2ND AND 3RD ONE FOR ALL USERS AND MAYBE SOME THERAPY FOR OUR KIDS BUT NOPE!  HE JUST PULLED THE RUG UNDER ALL OF US AND THEN MADE DEKU LEAVE UA AND GO ALL VIGILANTE ON OUR ASSES!!!!!  I HATE IT HERE BUT I ALSO LOVE IT HERE I-
Second of all, the big topic that we all need to talk about: Deku leaving UA and everyone else to go off on his own.
Out of all the twist Horikoshi has pulled on us, I think this is the biggest and most unexpected one.  I honestly did think that some UA students would quit trying to be Pro Heroes after the war because of how much corruption and trauma has been brought to the surface.  But, Deku was one of the last people on my mind.  Out of all the characters in this series, I would think Deku would stay and prove to everyone that it’s ok to keep striving towards being a hero.  But, no...  He still wants to be a hero, but not the way any of us expected.
Before Deku left, he wrote and left individual letter for every one of his fellow 1-A students (and hopefully his mom, All Might, Mirio, and Eri (OH, ERI ;~;)).  In it, he tells them the truth about One For All and why Shigaraki and All For One are after him.  Of course, all the kids are devastated.  What’s interesting to me is that we didn’t get reactions from everyone, it was mainly Uraraka.  This makes me wonder a few things:
1. If Deku wrote these out individually (his arms probably mostly healed at this point b/c he’s using them in the last page), I wonder if he wrote anything special for some of them.  Especially the people he’s close to.  Like, I need to know what he wrote to Iida, to Uraraka, to Inko, to All Might, TO SHOTO, TO BAKUGO.
2. WE DON’T GET TO SEE SHOTO’S AND BAKUGO’S REACTIONS TO DEKU LEAVING THEM AND I NEED TO SEE THEM NOW!  I DON’T CARE HOW SAD AND ANGSTY IT WILL BE I NEED TO SEE THEM!  I WANT TO SEE SHOTO BE A LITTLE BETRAYED BY THE LYING BUT ALSO COME TO AN UNDERSTANDING THAT DEKU DID THIS TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE!  I NEED TO SEE BAKUGO WONDERING WHERE HIS DAMN NERD WENT AND MAYBE TRY TO FIND HIM BECAUSE HE WAS THE ONLY OTHER STUDENT WHO KNEW ABOUT OFA!  I KNOW I’M SCREAMING BUT AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!
The final panel takes place in April, about a month after the war started and ended.  We weren’t given a specific timeline in when exactly Deku left UA, but it’s somewhere within that month.  So, does this mean he’s been on his own for nearly a month?  What has he been doing this entire time?
And that final double-page spread...  Good lord almighty.  It shows Deku standing on top of a building looking down at a villain attacking the city.  He’s in his hero costume but it’s all ripped up and worn out (probably what remains of it after the war arc.  I noticed his air gauntlets and arm bracers are gone too after looking at Deku again.  He still has his iron soles for his Shoot Style though).  He has his backpack on him and what looks like the rest of Gran Torino’s cape.  It hasn’t been confirmed if Gran Torino is alive or dead if Deku took his cape, but I can only assume he died based on Deku’s sad face and that there’s honestly no way Torino survived his injuries I’m sorry.  I’d be shocked if he were alive at this point.
And the last panel...  Deku looks so tired.  The light in his eyes is just gone as he says “A big villain” while looking out at the city.  Bringing us back to Chapter 1 of BNHA where one of Deku’s first pieces of dialogue was “A big villain!” while watching it rampage in the middle of the city.  Everything’s come full circle it seems and in the most depressing way possible.  I feel so bad for Deku.  He’s only 16 and even though his will to be a hero is still strong, I feel like a part of him has died honestly.  That childlike hope and innocence he’s shown since the very beginning doesn’t look to be there anymore.  My boy’s exhausted, Horikoshi, please give him a break.  And give yourself one too.
I wonder, if Deku is still doing hero work, but isn’t at UA anymore, does this mean he’s a vigilante?  I know he has his Provisional License, but does that thing even work if you’re not enrolled in the Hero Program you went to?  Because if it doesn’t, then Deku has technically gone full vigilante.  He looks like he’s about to put his bunny mask on in that last panel actually.  His current state of his costume screams vigilante to me even.  I’m really interested in seeing what Deku’s been doing and what he’s going to do now.  We know he left UA to protect everyone he cares about (because OFA is like a beacon to AFO now), but how long is he going to keep this up?  Is he going to run into Bakugo or anyone else in the meantime?  Is he going to run into the vigilantes from the BNHA Spin-off manga (Koichi, Pop-Step, Knuckleduster) or other vigilantes?  Is he ever going to see his friends and mom again?  Will any of our UA kids drop out of the hero course too?  I have so many questions, guys.  I want to go back to high school shenanigans, but that’s clearly not happening soon.
Finally, the chapter appears to be titled “The Beginning of The End” or “Opening of Final Chapter”.  Ngl, I legit thought that this meant that the series was really ending like Horikoshi talked about in his last interview.  I took that with a grain of salt, but I don’t know anymore.  This could mean an end to the whole “Academia” part of the story.  We might get a big time-skip like Naruto, One Piece, Haikyuu, and a lot of other manga did before it.  I kinda don’t want this to happen because I like seeing characters grow in chronological order and Horikoshi-sensei has been pretty good at twisting the usual tropes, but I don’t know this time guys.  The chapter ends on a good spot to do a big time-skip if Horikoshi wants.  But, honestly, everything’s up in the air right now.  I have so many theories in my head right now about what might happen next.  This is truly some peak fiction though like goddamn.  I really hope this doesn’t mean that we’re reaching the final arc of the series, but if Horikoshi want it to be, then I have no choice but to respect that.  I really hope it isn’t though.
Me after the insanity that was this chapter:

Hi! Then a prompt, if you don't mind. I've seen lots of arts crossovering bnha and among us, but I haven't seen any fics. Dekusquad playing the game, and Izuku acting like a mischievous kid, while being the impostor would definitely be cute
I love this idea so much! Sorry it's taken a while though - I've never actually played Among Us and had to watch a bunch of videos to learn the rules and strategy :')
'ORANGE IS MY FUCKING COLOUR, ROUND FACE!' Kacchan roared, the static of his microphone muffling his voice and making him sound eerily demonic.
'Like I want your fucking colour anyway!' Uraraka retorted, levelling the blonde's disgust. 'You wanna go, you expired bottle of mayonnaise?!'
'HAAAH?!?!'
‘LOOK WHO’S TALKING, BAKUHOE!’ Ashido joined in, passionately. ‘PINK IS MY COLOUR! GIVE IT BACK!’
Izuku winced at the volume and removed his headphones to prevent his ears from bleeding. They had only just begun playing and he was already starting to regret this.
Luckily, Kirishima and Tsu quickly interjected and managed to convince the three parties to just let it go and switch colours. Uraraka was white, Ashido was pink and Kacchan was orange - although Kirishima had insisted that ‘pink is a manly colour, Bakubro. It suits you!’ which just proved to further enrage the blonde. Before Izuku could completely regret all of his life decisions, however, his screen suddenly changed as the game loaded.
"Impostor"
Izuku's pupils dilated and a smile curved across his face. When Kaminari had initially suggested that the alleged Dekusquad and Bakusquad play Among Us together, Izuku hadn't spared a single thought in his research leading up to the game night. The fact that he had gotten the Impostor so quick was almost too good to be true.
Call him competitive, but Izuku was on a mission to win, and now was the perfect time to see whether his research had paid off.
Fake Tasks: Electrical: Fix Wiring (0/3) Weapons: Clear Asteroids (0/20) Navigation: Stabilise Steering Navigation: Chart Course
He read over the tasks and had a quick look at the map. Simple enough - both groups had decided to start easy so everyone could get used to the game. Muting his mic as he mumbled to himself, Izuku spotted the blue skin of Shoto and smiled. His partner would always have Izuku’s back and while he felt bad about exploiting that, he couldn’t just not take advantage of that!
He wandered over to Shoto’s side and together they ran off to electrical to complete tasks, making sure everyone watched them go. He faked fixing the wires quite well, he reckoned. However, before he could carry out the next step in his plan, Kaminari suddenly called an emergency meeting and everyone turned their microphones on.
‘Hey, Shitface! What’s the-’
'IfYou'reTheImpostorSayWhat.' Kaminari interrupted.
'What?' Iida exclaimed. Poor, innocent Iida.
'HA! The jig is up, pal!'
Calamari has voted. Pinky has voted. FlexTape420 has voted. BabyShark has voted. Uwawaka has voted.
‘Not you too, Uraraka-san!’ Iida sounded so upset that Izuku almost felt bad for him.
‘The plan was foolproof, Iida-kun.’ Uraraka replied, intelligently. ‘Welcome to the real world, rich boy.’
‘What?!’
Dr_5PeePees_M.D. has voted.
‘Todoroki-san! I didn’t expect such a betrayal!’
Izuku shook his head affectionately and clicked on the Skip Vote button. Eventually, everyone had voted and the results appeared. As they had expected, the entire Bakusquad - excluding Kacchan - had voted for Iida, while the others had elected to skip.
What was most interesting was the little blue circle underneath LordExplosionMurder.
‘You think you’re funny?!’ Kacchan roared, while Izuku refrained from sniggering.
‘I think I’m hilarious.’ Shoto answered easily, as Iida was ejected. ‘What’s up? Gonna cry?’
Before Kacchan could reply, however, the game restarted and it was time to mute microphones. Izuku cracked his knuckles and exhaled.
Okay, let’s go.
They were back in the cafeteria; Kacchan immediately stuck close to Shoto, which Izuku thought was rather amusing. Leaving his boyfriend to try and shake the orange creature from him, Izuku busied himself with going to Security. As he wandered down the corridor, he passed Ashido and Kaminari.
Good. Alibis.
Izuku entered the room and had a look at the cameras. Shoto, Kacchan and Kirishima were in Weapons, Uraraka and Tsu were in Navigation and Sero was alone in Communications. This wasn’t good - everyone was travelling in groups. If he killed Sero now, even Kaminari could figure out that it was Izuku.
He tapped Sabotage. His finger hovered over the screen for several moments, before eventually landing on the Lights.
‘Plus Ultra.’
The moment he tapped it, the ship escalated into chaos. He watched as Uraraka ran out of Navigation, while Tsu was in the middle of clicking out of her task. Wasting no time, Izuku vented into the room and killed the lighter green avatar before venting back into Security and running to Electrical to start fixing the lights. Sero arrived shortly after, followed by Ashido and Kaminari.
Once the lights came back on, Izuku followed the other three out of the room and they ventured towards Storage, until a dead body was reported.
‘Microphones on, lads!’ Ashido proclaimed. ‘Right, who, what, where, how?’
‘We found Tsu in Navigation!’ Kirishima instantly chimed in. ‘I was with Todoroki and Bakubro.’
‘Unfortunately so.’ Shoto mumbled into his microphone.
‘Well, I was in Security and I saw that Asu- I mean, Tsu-chan was in Navigation with Uraraka-san before the Sabotage.’ Izuku commented.
Yeah, me and Mina passed Midoriya-kun.’ Kaminari added; Izuku smirked.
‘I didn’t do it!’ Uraraka exclaimed. ‘Deku-kun, how could you say that?!’
‘I’m not accusing you, I’m just saying what I saw and if...’ Izuku began mumbling to himself, fast enough that only Shoto could keep up with him.
‘Fess up, Round Face!’ Kacchan shouted. ‘Stupid Deku saw you in Navigation. You’ve been clinging to that frog since the game started. Who else is it gonna be?!’
LordExplosionMurder voted. HeNeedSomeMilk voted. Dr_5PeePees_M.D. voted. BabyShark voted. Calamari has voted. Pinky has voted. FlexTape420 has voted.
‘I am honestly feeling so attacked right now!’ Uraraka answered before voting.
The screen revealed the results. Everyone had voted for her… Except for the white and blue circles underneath LordExplosionMurder.
‘WHAT THE FUCK, ICYHOT?!’
‘I’m onto you, Bakugou.’ Shoto remarked. Izuku had to mute his mic before he let out a very unattractive snort.
‘If I was the Imposter, I’d have killed you ages ago!’
‘Sounds like something an Imposter would say.’
Kacchan set off an explosion that could be heard from Izuku’s room and they were back in the game. Izuku took to following Shoto for a bit, while the Bakusquad also went off on their own. Keeping Shoto alive was very important for now. Not only would his partner stick by him, but he was also unknowingly helping Izuku win the game by constantly accusing Kacchan.
Izuku ducked into the Reactor, while Shoto continued on towards the Lower Engine. When he was out of sight, Izuku then raced into Security, noticed that the Bakusquad had split up, and vented into Electrical. As soon as he appeared, Sero tried to run, but it was too late. Izuku sliced him in half before venting back into Security and joining Shoto in the Lower Engine room.
It didn't take long before his body was reported.
'I would like to preface this by saying sorry to Uraraka-san for the last round. I  feel really bad for accusing you. Love you!' Izuku spoke quickly. Within seconds, his phone notified him of a new text.
Uwawaka [19.34] I've been tricked, I've been backstabbed and I've been quite possibly… Bamboozled.
Me [19.34] You snooze, you lose :P
'Where was damn Deku and Icyhot?!' Kacchan shouted into the mic, drawing Izuku back into the discussion.
'Izuku was with me in Lower Engine.' Shoto calmly explained.
'Yeah, we were together the whole time.' He reaffirmed. 'Where were you guys?'
'I was in Shields!' Kacchan declared angrily.
'Me and Kirishima were in Admin.' Ashido chimed in.
'I was Communications until I found the body.' Kaminari replied.
'Okay, so it's between Bakugou and Kaminari.' Shoto contemplated out loud.
Dr_5PeePees_M.D. has voted.
'I fucking swear, you bastard. I'll end you!' Kacchan roared.
'Well, it's either you or Kaminari. I'll trust my instincts, thanks.' Izuku could practically hear his boyfriend shrug.
'I reckon you and damn Deku are in cahoots with each other and are covering.' Kacchan accused. 'How come neither of you have been killed yet? You're protecting each other!'
'Kacchan, that's ridiculous!' Izuku squeaked into the mic, albeit his eyes were stoic and his face was relaxed. 'Shoto-kun and I have been sticking together, so the Impostor hasn't been able to get one of us alone yet! Stop trying to deflect the attention away from you.'
HeNeedSomeMilk has voted.
'Oh, fuck you!'
LordExplosionMurder has voted.
'Guys, calm down.' Kirishima spoke up. When everyone fell silent, he cleared his throat and continued. 'Anyway… Kaminari has been pretty quiet during all this.'
'Bro!' Kaminari exclaimed, clearly betrayed. 'I thought you were bae! Turns out you're just fam.'
'Bruh!' Kirishima replied, passion laced in his voice.
'Don't let his mediocre vine references sway you, Shittyhair!' Kacchan sounded almost desperate.
'You're right, you're right.' The redhead sighed.
BabyShark has voted.
'I've just gone from low-key flustered to high-key irked.' Kaminari cried out dramatically.
'That's rough, buddy.' Ashido deadpanned before voting.
Kaminari screeched into his mic and also voted.
Blue and green appeared under LordExplosionMurder; orange appeared under Dr_5PeePees_M.D., while pink, red and yellow appeared under Calamari.
'You voted for yourself?!?!' Ashido exclaimed. 'Why?!'
'When a bro betrays another bro, there's no longer a reason to bro on.' Kaminari sniffled, before turning his mic off.
When the screen showed that Calamari was not the Imposter and they returned to the game, Izuku sighed.
The previous discussion had put him in a difficult position. Izuku had two options, either kill Shoto and hope that he can convince the others that the 'Imposter' had staged it, or keep Shoto alive and remain under suspicion. Sure, he had blagged that they'd stuck together in order to stay alive, but that wouldn't work forever.
He'd have to take a risk.
He travelled to Navigation with Shoto and pretended to complete a task, before Sabotaging the O2. When the screen turned red, he turned to his partner and hesitated for only a moment before killing him and running out of Navigation to fix the Oxygen.
Several seconds passed before Shoto knocked once and entered Izuku's room, phone in hand.
'I want to break up.' He muttered, shutting the door behind him.
'Shhh, do you hear that?' Izuku cupped a hand over his ear. 'That's the sound of forgiveness.'
'That's the sound of your boyfriend dying.'
'It was necessary, Sho.' Izuku replied easily, not taking his eyes away from the screen.
'You're enjoying this.'
'Of course I am!' Izuku flashed him a brief smile. 'Only Kacchan suspects something is up. Thank you for helping with that, by the way.'
'Help, I'm dating a monster.' Shoto sighed, before throwing himself onto Izuku's bed, face down.
He giggled in response and turned back to his screen. The Sabotage was quickly dealt with and Izuku staged looking around for Shoto's blue avatar. However, when he returned to Navigation, he saw a red avatar standing over Shoto's body.
What?!
Izuku quickly reported the body and turned his mic on.
'Sooo…' He began, genuine confusion in his voice. 'What the fuck, Kirishima-kun?’
'My internet lagged!' He defended.
'We have the same internet!' Ashido retorted.
'Kirishima-kun, how could you? You killed Shoto-kun!' Crocodile tears streamed down Izuku’s face and his voice choked up, helping him feign his distress.
'Woooooow.' Shoto whispered, voice muffled by the duvet.
'Shut the fuck up, Deku!' Kacchan cut in. 'How do we know you didn't kill Icyhot? I accused you of working together, seems a little sus that-'
'BAKUGOU SAID THE WORD!' Ashido squealed. Even Shoto snorted at that.
'While it's true that killing Sho would definitely turn the attention to me - seen as I've spent the most time with him - isn't that awfully convenient for the actual Impostor?' Izuku started to mumble, albeit he made sure everyone could understand what he was saying clearly. 'I mean, even if I was the Impostor, I don't think I'd be able to actually kill Shouchan…'
'I've heard enough.' Ashido interrupted. 'Sorry, Kiri, but I'm with Midoriya.'
Pinky has voted.
'Well, I think it's damn Deku!' Kacchan shouted.
LordExplosionMurder has voted.
'I don't know who it is!' Kirishima sounded distraught. 'I want to vote Midoriya, but he's right, he'd never kill Todoroki!'
'Thank you, Kirishima.' Izuku was genuinely touched by the comment. His plan was working, but he couldn't vote yet, he had to wait until last.
With one final push, he spoke, 'You're so manly!'
'Bro…'
BabyShark has voted.
HeNeedSomeMilk has voted.
Green and pink appeared under BabyShark, orange appeared under HeNeedSomeMilk and Kirishima had skipped his vote.
'What the hell did you do that for?' Kacchan spat.
'I didn't know who to vote for! I ain’t gonna vote randomly' Kirishima defended, before turning his mic off.
'"BabyShark was ejected." I so want that printed out and hung on my wall.' Ashido commented with a snigger.
Everyone then proceeded to mute their microphones as they entered the endgame.
'What's your plan?' Shoto asked.
'I've waited over a decade for this moment.' Izuku replied, a smirk on his face as he ran towards the orange avatar. 'As my final act, I will spare Ashido-san and taunt Kacchan before I kill him. I will make him suffer for everything he's done and for forcing me to kill you. Besmirched by his own hubris, I want him to know it was me, as I take victory for all to see!'
'Fucking hell…'
'Oh, hello Kacchan!' Izuku cornered the orange avatar in Weapons and smirked. 'Fancy seeing you here.'
Before his childhood friend could do anything, Izuku sliced him open and turned on his mic as the screen revealed that he had won. 'You just got Deku-ed.'
The group chat went mental, voices crying out with shock as they overlapped each other and became unintelligible. Meanwhile, Izuku leant back in his desk chair, smiling innocently.
'Man, that was so fun!' He turned to Shoto, who was staring at him with wide eyes.
Before his boyfriend could say anything, however, an explosion sounded from outside his room as Kacchan kicked his door down.
'YOU READY TO FUCKIN’ DIE?!'
Once upon a time, Izuku would've backed down at such a remark and apologised to the blonde for killing him.
Today was not one of those days.
'I'm a bad bitch, you can't kill me.'

Long Night in the Valley Chapter 1
Behold, my attempt to rectify the appalling lack of into the mind fics in the BNHA fandom.  :P
AO3
FFN
.
“You shouldn’t be here.”
He stood on top of the stairs to the beach, looking down on them.  With the sun rising behind them, his pupils were pinpoints, his irises shockingly bright. He wore a thin windbreaker over a t-shirt that read ‘tracksuit’ and a pair of sweatpants with his signature red shoes.  His expression was strangely flat and blank.  He had never looked at them like that before.
“Deku?” said Ochako, uncertainly, taking a step forward, her hand half raised, as though she could reach him despite being so far away.
The commission instructor flung out an arm, stopping her.  He was staring up at the boy, too, his eyes blown wide, lips pulled back with something like worry, something like fear, and something like avarice.  “Whatever that is,” he said, “it isn’t Midoriya Izuku.”
.
Aizawa reviewed the program the commission had sent to him, ignoring the gentle bumping of the bus and the barely controlled chaos of the students around him.  It looked fairly straightforward, all things considered.  The requirement was new, and Aizawa felt it was illogical to test students like this, when they could simply have the material added to the course load, but, overall, he’d seen worse.
So why did this bother him so much?
He scanned the paperwork again.  He was going to be getting the same certification as his students, had arranged to be part of the same general ‘cohort’ even, because he didn’t trust them on their own.  At all. Ever.
But that shouldn’t be an issue.  Even when they did get split up, they’d be going in groups of five and—
Ah.  There it was. Groups of five, with any odd numbers being used to fill out other groups who were undergoing testing on the same day, most of whom were adult heroes, if he recalled correctly.
With the addition of Aizawa, there were twenty-one of them.
Calling on years of experience, Aizawa didn’t groan.  The thing was, Aizawa knew, even before arriving and having numbers and groups assigned, who the odd one out would be. There was only one student who could be so problematic without trying or indeed having any control over the variables that went into causing the problem.
Midoriya.
Aizawa almost suspected that Midoriya had some secret trouble-attracting quirk on top of the lightning-spitting bone-breaking insanity and the randomly appearing eldritch abomination tentacle things.  It would fit right in.
Sadly, Midoriya’s ability to find trouble didn’t seem to go away when Aizawa stared at him, so he had to acknowledge that the kid was just that unlucky.
If Aizawa let Midoriya go off to complete the course on his own, he would probably discover that, oh, pro hero Wash was laundering money from an overseas smuggling operation disguised as an environmental clean up charity.  Or, somehow, locate a villain, despite being at a secure hero commission building. Like he had during the provisional license exam.  Or break a bone.  Again. Or discover a previously unknown aspect of his quirk.  Again. Or get into a fight with Bakugo. Again.
No way.  Not if Aizawa had anything to say about it.
.
Izuku bounced in place, excited.  He was attending a professional development course given by the Hero Standards and Practices Commission.  It was like a dream come true!  Literally!  He dreamed about this!  Of course, he’d had the dream when he was seven, and he’d just learned about the HSPC and what it did, and All Might had been the course teacher, which he wasn’t going to be for this course, and which was also a little redundant, because All Might (Mr. Yagi, Toshinori, Eight) was already his teacher, and the reason behind this course, and making everyone with any kind of hero license take it, was a bit disturbing, and he’d had to opt out of some of the course features, because reasons, but, regardless—
“Midoriya,” said Jiro, tapping on his shoulder, “they’re calling for you.”
“Oh!  Thanks!” said Izuku, nodding vigorously, and, man, he really had to cut his hair soon. It was getting long enough to fall in his eyes when he did that, and that would be distracting in the field. Good thing it wouldn’t matter for today!
They weren’t going to be doing anything physical, after all.
He walked up to the table, showed the person with the clip board his provisional license (he could still hardly believe he had it!  It was so cool!) and received a card with a number on it.
“Pin that to your shirt,” said the man, hardly looking at him.
At least, the man was trying to look like he was hardly looking at him.  Maybe he recognized him from the sports festival and didn’t want to make things awkward?  But it had been a while since the sports festival.  They tended to drain from common memory pretty quickly, and—
Oh, no, he’d been holding up the line.
He sketched a quick bow and ran over to where the rest of his classmates and teacher were waiting.
“So,” said Aizawa, looking as exhausted as ever. There was a spark of something in the man’s eye, though.  Vigilance. Had he noticed something amiss? Should Izuku be on alert as well? “We have consecutive numbers, so most of us should be together in the same groups.  Problem child.”
Izuku jumped to attention.  “Yes, sir?”
… It was kind of sad that he answered to the name ‘problem child,’ wasn’t it?
(Was it sadder that he almost liked the nickname? It was nicer than what some of his other teachers had called him.  It didn’t have the same bite.)
“Trade numbers with Yaoyorozu.”
Izuku blinked and looked at Yaoyorozu in surprise.  “Um,” he said.  “Okay?”  He unpinned his card and held it out to his classmate.
Yaoyorozu took it carefully, frowning at the number.  “Why are we doing this, sensei?” she asked.
“Because knowing his luck, Midoriya is going to be the odd one out, and you’re the only one I trust not to kill someone or get kidnapped if you’re left on your own.”
Okay.  Harsh. But fair.
“What about Iida?” asked Kaminari.
“I know what I said.”
Harsher—Wait.  Aizawa knew about that?  Since when?!
“Didn’t she go off that one time, though?  At Kamino?”
Aizawa turned to stare at Mina, who held her hands up. “Forget I said anything, sensei!”
“No, no, you’re right.  Hagakure, you take Midoriya’s number.”
“Eh, me?” asked the invisible girl.
“Yes,” said Aizawa.
“Er, are you sure?  I don’t know if I could survive a Midoriya-level calamity!”
Izuku felt his jaw drop a little.  Was that what they were calling it now?  Rude.
“The calamity won’t happen if he isn’t there,” reasoned Aizawa.
Which.  Okay.  True.  But also, rude.
Izuku wasn’t that bad, was he?
Izuku took Hagakure’s card.  The number put him between Uraraka and Aizawa, so he’d probably be with at least one of them.  On reflection, Yaoyorozu’s number had put him on the other side of Aizawa.  Which probably wasn’t a coincidence.
The rest of the class got through registration shortly thereafter, with several of his classmates trying to trade their own numbers, only for Iida to scold them.  Which was typical, really.  It was almost calming, and Izuku needed calm after… that.
Was his luck really that bad?
Now he was much more nervous than before.  Except, before he’d been excited, and, now, he was really—
Not.
He fiddled with the sleeve of his uniform, trying not to pick at his scars or cross the line into overtly fidgeting and being distracting.  He wished he’d brought one of his grip strength training tools.  At least with those he could pretend their only purpose was working out, unlike his other fidget toys.
Oh, gosh, was that pro hero Rosemary, the memory hero? And Strato!  The high altitude hero!
Wow, he’d been so worried he almost hadn’t noticed how many amazing heroes were here!  There were even some he didn’t know!
And then they were being called up, number by number.
Hagakure, true to Aizawa’s prediction, was placed with a group of confused-looking strangers, including Rosemary.  Izuku was almost jealous.  He’d love to learn how her quirk worked.
Actually…  All of the people in that group were heroes with mental quirks.  How interesting!  Izuku would have to ask Hagakure if they gave her any tips.  He was sure they’d have different insights than the other people in their class, especially considering the subject matter of the course.
The subject matter being combating mental attacks.
That’s why Izuku had to opt out of being a ‘subject’ for the course.  He didn’t entirely understand it, not yet, but One for All definitely had a mental aspect, and he didn’t know how or if that would show up in a simulated attack like the ones they’d be demonstrating.  It was better to play it safe.  His quirk was already weird enough as it was.  He still wasn’t sure how he’d manage to talk Aizawa and his classmates out of being suspicious after blackwhip came out.  Most of that day was a blur.
Izuku suspected that things would not have been smoothed over nearly so easily if Nezu hadn’t known about One for All.
He also wasn’t looking forward to the reaction when the other user’s quirks started coming out – Even if being able to use them was going to be really cool.
Anyway, his own group had resolved itself to consist of Aizawa, Uraraka, Iida, and Todoroki.  He was relieved.  Todoroki looked relieved, too.  That made sense.  With what Todoroki had told Izuku about his history, he wouldn’t want to be doing this with people he didn’t know, either.
But Todoroki would have opted out, anyway, right?  Or did Endeavor not let him?  Honestly, that would be par for the course for Endeavor. Todoroki said he was getting better, but…  Izuku had doubts.  He liked to think that people could always be saved, even from themselves, that most villains could be reformed, even if the government didn’t think so, that people like Endeavor and Kacchan could see the error of their ways. But.
But even though Kacchan was better than he was before didn’t mean that he didn’t still do things that Izuku… didn’t like.
And he couldn’t imagine that Endeavor was changing faster than Kacchan.
“Who will they have us do first, do you think?” asked Uraraka. “I mean, I know they’re going to go through all of us, but all of this is making me so nervous.  I have a lot of embarrassing memories, I mean, I’m sure everyone does, but, ugh, that didn’t come out right…”
“Well!” said Iida, energetically.  “If they let us volunteer, I shall go first!”
“What?” said Izuku, surprised.  “You didn’t opt out?”
“Opt out?” asked Uraraka.  “That was an option?”
“I mean, yes?” said Izuku.  “I mean, I had to file a bunch of paperwork and get Mom, All Might, and Principal Nezu to sign off on it, but, I mean, it’s an option for people who know secrets that shouldn’t be exposed.”  Like Iida.  What was he thinking?
“I… did not know that was an option,” said Iida, who had evidently now realized he was in deep, deep trouble.
Izuku resolved to protect his friend’s secrets as best as he was able, even if it meant he didn’t get a good score in the training.
“I didn’t think there was an opt-out option, either,” said Todoroki, frowning.  He reached towards his face but tugged on his hair instead of touching his scar.
Okay.  So.  “Am I- Am I the only one that asked?  L-like, it wasn’t easy, I had to get a bunch of signatures, but it was doable, I…”  He shrugged, helplessly.
“I wasn’t informed there was an opt-out,” said Aizawa, grumpily and a little… suspiciously?
Izuku cringed.  He did not need his teacher to be suspicious of him.  He did not need people looking into his life.  Into his past.  Into his quirk.
Maybe, if they couldn’t keep Iida’s and Todoroki’s secrets quiet, he could play his reluctance off as pertaining to those.  Even if the idea made him feel incredibly guilty and unworthy of his friends.
He would just have to do his best to help them.
Before any more conversations could be had, their group was called into one of the rooms.  A set of six cheap futons laid on the floor.  Monitoring equipment lined one of the walls.  Two commission personnel, a man and a woman, were waiting for them.
When the woman saw Izuku, she frowned and pulled her phone out of her pocket.  What was that about.
“Hi,” said the man, who had a rather hooked nose and very bright, almost glowing, yellow eyes.  “I’m Ito Kenzo, and I’ll be your instructor for today.  You can call me Ito-san.  This is Saito Yume, we’ll be using her quirk for today’s demonstration.”
The woman smiled brightly, putting away her phone quickly. “The way my quirk works is that I can put up to five people into a shared dream state modeled after a sixth person’s mind.  All six people lose consciousness when I use my quirk, and the perception of time in the dream state is usually altered, although by how much varies depending on the group.  The dream state persists until either I release it, the people involved break free, or eight hours pass.  However, I’ll be making the rounds once an hour to pull everyone out and let you move on to the next person in the group.”
“I’ll be joining the dream state with you, to help point out tactics,” said Ito.  “Although the person the dreamscape is modeled on won’t be completely aware of what’s going on, the goal is to familiarize you with what it feels like to have your minds invaded in a safe, secure environment.  Saito-san’s quirk is similar enough to that of several known villains to be a good example of what to expect.”  Ito paused.  “Any questions?”
Uraraka raised her hand.  “Who’s going first?” she asked.
“Ah, that would be—” He broke off as Saito tugged on his sleeve and showed him her phone.  The man did a double take, then paled, slightly.  He glanced at Izuku.  “Er,” he said, “you’re not supposed to be in this group.”
“Yes, I-I am,” said Izuku.  “This is- This is my number?  It matches?”
Ito glanced at Saito.  Then his phone rang.  “Oops,” he said, looking at his phone.  “It looks like I’m in the wrong group.  You kids are supposed to have Suzuki-san, I was, was requested by another group, so sorry! He’ll be here in a minute!”  Ito retreated through the back door at high speed.
Izuku swallowed.  Something was going on behind the scenes.  This wasn’t about the suspected traitor thing again, was it?  Izuku had thought, after the training camp, that it was pretty obvious it had to be a teacher…  And it couldn’t be Aizawa-sensei.  He’d almost been killed by the noumu.
(Also, he was the best teacher Izuku had ever had.)
A new, much taller man walked through the door.  “Hello,” he said.  “I am Suzuki Takami.  I am your instructor.  Apologies for the mix up.”
“No worries!” said Saito.  “Everyone, go ahead, lie down, get comfortable.  Midoriya-san, you’re first!”
“What?” said Izuku.  “But, I, um, I opted out?  I filled in the paperwork and everything.  I got a signature from Abe-san, and Kondo-san, and, and—” He fumbled to pull out his paperwork.  He’d kept copies, just in case.
Saito and Suzuki didn’t so much as look at it.
“This course doesn’t have an ‘opt-out,’” said Suzuki.
“Excuse me,” said Aizawa.  “He clearly has paperwork for an opt-out.  Maybe you were misinformed.  Like you were about the room.”
Suzuki shook his head.  “I don’t know who you talked to,” he said, “but they were either mistaken about what course you were referring to, or you misunderstood them.”
“But,” said Izuku.
“Midoriya,” said Aizawa, “if you want to sit this out, it’s fine.  I can go with you, so you won’t be alone.  No one’s going to make you subject yourself to a quirk you aren’t comfortable with.”
“He can do that,” said Suzuki, “but he’ll lose his provisional license.  He’d have to go through recertification entirely.  When’s the next licensing exam?”
“Hold up,” said Aizawa, “you’re doing this course two more times, aren’t you?  I know I was given multiple options for getting this certification.”
“Sure,” said Saito, “but it’s still going to be my quirk.” She wrapped a strand of her hair around her finger, stressed.
Izuku’s mind was racing.  He couldn’t lose his license.  He couldn’t lose his ability to help people.  He—What would All Might think?  He couldn’t—
“It-It’s-It’s fine, sen-sensei, I’m um.  It’s fine!  I’ll- I’d have to do this anyway, right? Mi-might as well get it over with, huh?”  He walked over to one of the futons, and set down his backpack, trying to hide his trembling hands.  “So, is-is there anything special or specific I have to do for your quirk to work?”
“Nope,” said Saito, cheerfully, “just lie down and close your eyes.  Come on, everyone lay down.”
Aizawa moved slowly, which was nothing short of shocking considering how eager he usually was to crawl into his sleeping bag.  He put the bag down on one of the futons.  “You’re sure there’s no way for Midoriya to opt out?”
“Positive.  We’re really sorry,” said Saito.
“Illogical,” grumbled Aizawa.  He got into his sleeping bag nonetheless.  “You sure about this, problem child?”
“I-I’m sure, sensei!  Plus ultra, right?”  He laid down, trying to get comfortable, but the panic rising in his veins really didn’t allow for that.  He could, distantly feel One for All (and all it contained) pressing up against the back of his mind with something like concern.  He swallowed.  Don’t think about it.
His classmates were, hesitantly, picking out their own spots. Iida looked like he wanted to say something.  Uraraka’s brow was furrowed, her lips pursed.  Todoroki was difficult to read, as always.
Suzuki was already lying down, staring at the ceiling.
Izuku closed his eyes.
“Alright!” said Saito.  “Here we go!”
.
Yume left the room with Midoriya Izuku in it, feeling just slightly dazed.  She paused for a moment in the back hallway.  She had dozens of other groups to set off, and she was running late after that little snafu.
Midoriya Izuku was supposed to be in a group with Suzuki-san and four other specially picked professional heroes.  Heroes who would get to the bottom of why and how he had multiple quirks, who would find out who he really was, who would figure out how he was in contact with the League of Villains and why they decided to pick some random quirkless nobody—
Assuming that’s what Midoriya Izuku really was.  The initial investigation had uncovered some discrepancies in his family records.
In any case, he was not supposed to be in a group with his little friends and overprotective teacher.
Oh, well.  Except for Midoriya, they were all clean.  If they were really heroes, they’d do what was right.
Yume pushed off the wall (when had she started leaning on it?) and stumbled.  Something bright and red caught on the periphery of her vision and she looked down.
Her nose was bleeding.
She licked her lips, tasting copper.  It shouldn’t be bleeding.  That only happened when she overused her quirk, when she tried to put too many people into one dreamscape or tried to combine two dreamscapes into one. She’d been pacing herself.  This shouldn’t be happening.  It shouldn’t be bleeding like this, like she had just put more than a dozen people under.
Suzuki Yume promptly passed out.
.
“Wow,” said Uraraka, looking around in delight.  She was still worried about Deku.  He’d looked really bad right before Saito-san activated her quirk, and she and Suzuki-san had been acting kind of shady, but—
But—
This place was beautiful, and she couldn’t help but be a little in awe.  She’d kind of expected dreamscapes to be more… Mushy, maybe?  Darker?  Her dreams usually weren’t very clear (except for the nightmares, and those didn’t count).
But Deku’s dreamscape was as bright as he was: a beautiful beach and a cerulean ocean at sunrise.  Or was it sunset?  Either way, the sun hovered above the ocean, its light gleaming off the waves.
“Wow,” said Todoroki, approaching the breakers on the beach.  He crouched, looking at the sand.  “It’s really…”  he poked the sand, “detailed.”
“As expected of Midoriya!” exclaimed Iida, waving his hands. “His attention to detail is unparalleled!”
“Hm,” said Aizawa.  “Too bright…” He put on his goggles.
“Excuse me,” said Suzuki.  “If I can have your attention, please.  I apologize for the deception, however—”
“You shouldn’t be here.”

Before I start, this is in no offence to anyone else’s opinion. You are all valid and probably make more sense than me. This is a bit of a rant and then a short character study.
Warning: This got too long.
I tend to come online for manga updates and ended up reading through opinion posts because I am a curious cat. Most of the time I come across really well-thought out posts, really valid points. But then MHA is also a soap opera/family drama where the main character is not supposed to have any progress in his story unless its to bolster or move along the other favs . But then they shouldn’t be bolstering his story either because why is a story about Deku’s journey all about Deku?
But then there are people who are happy Deku is finally edgy and they want him to wipe the floor with his classmates who love him and are willing to fight him if only to get through to him. So there are both extremes and honestly there is validity in all these thoughts because despite the writer’s intentions, a reader brings the story to life.
I personally hate making my own predictions because most of the time I feel it ruins the experience of reading a work for me. I go in with different expectations and when the story goes a different way I don’t enjoy it as much but I feel its more my fault.
So I do understand and respect the difference of opinion because there is no fandom without discourse.
In my opinion though, this Deku solo arc was a long time coming and I think Horikoshi has handled it really weird. I’m still trying to understand what he wants us to think about.
A story about heroes and putting your life on the line for someone else is controversial, but, I thought it was a given. Recklessness had been part of Deku’s character but an overly-cautious character would do nothing. Deku’s lack of self-preservation wasn’t unnatural for a hero, he rushed in to save Bakugo from the slime-villain when Pros stood by putting himself at risk but it spurred AM to act. Katsuki experienced it as well during the war arc, when his body moved to save Deku.
Going to Kamino to save Bakugo was suicidal, reckless and potentially flawed but story-wise it made sense. How is hero-work anything than risky? Kirishima and Todoroki initiated it.
Disclaimer: Deku, Bakugo, Uraraka, Momo, Toga and Shigaraki are characters that are very dear to me because they have had me extremely invested since the beginning of the story. This is my personal opinion, flaws, rant... basically me working through my feelings about this manga I had been obsessed with recently.
1) There is an opinion where Bakugo had a right to be upset/angry/bully Deku because he wanted to be a hero but did nothing for it. Firstly, I don’t understand the need to justify his behaviour when he himself has expressed regret on it. People want others to move on from the “go jump off the roof comment” but won’t stop talking about how everything about Bully Bakugo was justified. Deku was weaker, but he had the same dreams, dreams that were the basis of their friendship earlier on. Regardless of how Deku wanted to achieve them, Bakugo had no right to keep trying to stop him from doing so. No, 5, 10, 14 year old Bakugo did not do so because he had the brilliant foresight that Deku would be self-sacrificial and it was for his sake, he was an angry kid and Deku was a timid, wannabe that confused him, intimidated him even. Taking out his anger was a way of working through those feelings. He was in Deku’s words “a punching bag”. In a world where the powerful reign, Bakugo couldn’t understand how a quirk less, weak little boy could think he could stand shoulder to shoulder with someone as gifted as Bakugo. Yeah, society is very much to blame. The change and maturity Bakugo goes through where he is humbled by a cast of amazing hero students who are just as gifted yet with inspiring personalities and then traumatic consequences of being kidnapped, watching his hero use the last of his powers to hold back a great evil, having that fight with Deku where he bared himself open, failing the licensing exam, training with todoroki, the internship... the war has changed him in a way that has brought out his full potential as a hero and a person. There is a lot to admire about him yet I see so many people fixate on headcanons that glorify his every action/word instead of praising the amazing person he has become/how well written his growth has been.
2) “Deku wanted to be a hero and he did nothing for it”. “He could have been a quirkless hero like Batman.” Listen, the story is about AFO vs OFA first and foremost. Hori has done a good job of worldbuilding and adding a cast of interesting characters that its easy to forget what the main plot point of the story is. But it really is about a weak/timid boy who was born with a sort of handicap who dared to dream to be someone strong enough to have others rely on him instead. A lot of the times people want to become something they feel they needed, someone who gave people hope just by existing. Its natural for someone who is ‘considered useless’ to want to be the most useful person ever. His mother didn’t believe he could do it, Bakugo told him repeatedly he shouldn’t even try, everyone else made fun of him, and his hero gave him a wake-up call, no... you can’t be a hero without a quirk. Deku studied heroes and quirks all his life, hoping he’d find something that could work for his advantage. Not every hero relies on physical strength, their bodies are adapted to the nature of their quirks. Deku’s analysis, quick-thinking and impulsive nature is what helped him progress even after getting the quirk because he didn’t gain control until really late. People act like he was handed power, seem to forget he has just learned to use it without consequences. His studies of quirks also made him the best candidate to get new quirks, quirks that he has learned to utilise as tools quickly and efficiently. He was doing what he thought was going to help him become a hero without guidance, without backing and constant discouragements. Its admirable and relatable. If you don’t relate to him that’s fine, your life was different.
Batman was loaded. Deku is not an inventor. The Editors shot that idea down because it would not have survived in a genre where power fantasies are the main hooks. Aizawa, sure he’s training Shinso because he sees his potential now but he would have either expelled Deku/moved him to General studies on that first day for scoring the least in that test. He changed his mind not because of Deku’s quirk but because of Deku’s ingenuity.
When Deku did find his guidance, he tried to do years of work/training in a short period of time. He acknowledges how far behind he is, that the rest are leagues above him and all he wants is to be able to stand side by side with those incredible people and he would go to all lengths to do so. DEKU has never said he wants to be the number one hero. He always says he wants to be one so reliable he saves people with a smile and later on, he wants to be a hero that can save without having other people worry about him. Bakugo works hard, he’s not just exceptional he works hard for it, all of 1A do but saying Deku does nothing when he is constantly shown, studying, training his body, understanding his shortcomings and working on it is just petty. You don’t like him because of his saviour complex, newsflash, that is a hero thing. Hero course is about that, Deku’s is just highlighted because of how often he gets hurt. How can you be a Todoroki stan and hate Deku (although to be fair its your right, I’m just making a point), the kid saw Shouto and decided that it was more important for Shouto to stop hurting and gave him a hell of a fight. I still remember Shouto’s smile, it gave me goose bumps.
Deku’s lack of self-preservation is a part of his programming so much that he hasn’t noticed it yet. Deku broke his bones, but he didn’t realise the permanent damage. When Deku got injured with Muscular, he was never intending to fight him alone. He wanted backup, his phone was broken and he wanted to get Kouta out and tried but Muscular gave him no opening. He was driven into a corner and fought his way out. Like Aizawa said, “He got that injured because he has no intention of dying.” Before rushing to find Bakugo, he informed his superior first, knowing she can spread the message.
The fight with Stain, he messaged his location to all his classmates, didn’t intend to fight Stain alone, just defend Iida long enough for help to come along. Fight with overhaul, he just wanted to get Eri away and when he understood Eri’s power, he gave her the opportunity to fight back against her oppressor by teaming up with him, keeping her secure with the cape made out of Lemillion’s hair. During the whole fight he was present-minded enough to take the fight away from civilians and managed to prevent damage and casualties. During Natsuo’s rescue he played support.
During the war arc, he realised with despair that Shigaraki was coming in all his destructive glory for him and tried to stop him before but he didn’t object to Bakugo joining him. In the movie Heroes Rising (the initially planned ending) he willingly gave OFA to Bakugo, because he trusts him with his life, and was willing to be quirkless again if that’s what it took to keep the kids safe, and himself and Bakugo alive. Its mostly been good decisions on his part.
Its the war arc that’s been his downfall. Watching his childhood friend/rival almost die, his best friend, his mentors almost die while he could barely hold Shigaraki back set off a fight or flight response in him. The seriousness of how Shigaraki came for him and left such death and destruction in his wake because he was not strong enough and AFO is a monster and the sight of Shigaraki and the reality of his situation pushed him down the current path. His solo arc started well because constantly training in the field has helped him master his quirk, and he had the backup of the vestiges who trained and guided him in learning to use it as a toolset instead of a one-punch solution. Then coming face to face with the flaws of hero society and the power, manipulative nature and destructive intentions of AFO has prepared him emotionally. He is not acting like AM, he hasn’t in a while. He is acting like NANA and i don’t blame him because she’s in his head. No adult stopped him from doing this, instead using him as bait to lure out the league.
When they started realising he’s spiralling out of control, that’s when they realised they messed up.
He’s running on adrenaline/fumes alone and I think he’s actually terrified.
“AFO is OFA’s responsibility” “Tell the world I am here” “You’re not as strong as me yet,” “You are not a worthy successor”
Deku isn’t self-centered and but I agree with the screw loose comment (its years of “you are useless, not good enough, not worthy and I bet a dozen or so concussions, bloodloss, dehydration lol). I know Bakugo means well and that’s how he talks. At the moment, he’s probably the only one whose sole goal is Deku’s survival. Deku’s like a wild animal, terrified, lost and as always backed into a corner. AFO has him where he wants him and I am curious to see how class 1 A are going to get through to him. I don’t want them to fight, all those fanarts of Bakugo reaching his hand out to Deku and then maybe punching him in the face would have been a lot better then the mocking (the slow clap was a little triggering for me) but again maybe it just bothers me and Deku needs it. I’ll just have to wait and see. Deku and his class together would be an unstopabble force and I am waiting for that to finally happen.
P.S. Class 1 A looks so mature, everyone going crazy about Bakugo and his tie and I’m here like, look at baby Kirishima and his roots <3
I’m sorry if I gave anyone a headache lol.
