is it too much of a reach to say that zelda being reduced to basically an object to farm items from in totk just kinda adds more salt to the wound of how badly shes treated?

#ganondoodles talks #zelda #totk #i know im nitpicking #but i have talked about the big problems alot already #and now i start to see the smaller thingy that dont feel good #i guess you could see it as well if she wasnt farmable for items it would be weird compared to the other dragons #or that you are supposed to realize that you have been farming items from your best friend the whole time is to mean something #or maybe its just a game mechanic #i knew super early that the dragon was zelda #and when i saw i need items from her to upgrade my armor i was like .... im not gonna shoot out heR TEETH WTF #good thing she remembers nothing i guess #so she doesnt have to cope with the fact that link kept shooting off her scales - claws - teeth and horns #god i just want to see her have agency for once #and no i dont count begging unnamed faceless champion mcguffin guys to do a swear or dragonfying herself when she had no other option #thats not a character moving the plot but the plot shoving around a character imo #i want to see her go around HER hyrule and talk to people- solve mysteries- get more competent at defending herself- actively doing anythin #gnawing on wood as we speak

I just finished Tulin's storyline and excuse me while I bawl about this game further cementing the fact that Revali made himself a Champion. He was no descendant of an ancient Sage nor did he have a loving family to train him (that we know of). There was no power destined to be his: he crafted his own version of wind control without any support or spiritual guidance and excelled at it and then he and the other Champions went into battle without the special helms, without a sacred tear/charm to further enhance his abilities, without the certainty of two rulers (and a sage from the future) with god-like powers that could back them up if things went awry. Because of this, the original Sages survived where the Champions did not.

Revali was doomed from the start and if he'd known he would've still honed his craft and piloted Medoh with his beak held high and I am in shambles about it

#totk spoilers #tears of the kingdom spoilers #totk meta #don't mind me i'm having a normal one #and to be perfectly clear: this is not me downplaying tulin's achievements #I adore him and he worked his ass off and he /made/ himself worthy of the title of Sage and i wouldn't have it any differently #son boy son i would die for him #but by god do the champions (and revali in particular) hurt an extra amount in retrospective #totk may refuse to mention the champions by name (at least so far idk about the other regions)#but revali is so fucking present in the negative spaces he inhabits #revali's theme still plays at the flight range #when teba is introduced there is an emphasis on the strip of cloth attached to the great eagle bow #revali's landing is the first area of rito village that clears after the blizzard #the village's main spire is now named after medoh #and tulin looks far more honored to receive revali's bow (which is regarded as the very best) than he is about becoming a sage #it is thanks to revali's sacrifice that the village was granted the chance to thrive and defend itself #and that truth lives on no matter what

Had the realization last night that one of the main reasons why Zuko had to take a lightning bolt for Katara was because he wasn't used to fighting on a team.

Pretty much every battle he'd fought before was a one-on-one or a free-for-all. Even before he went rogue, it wasn't like he was worried about his soldiers, or facing anyone who was an actual threat.

So it didn't even enter his mind that someone else was in lightning range.

He goaded his sister into attacking him, forgetting that he wasn't a lone wolf anymore, and that every attack he allowed Azula to make was a danger to those around him.

#atla #zuko #azula #Katara #there's something glorious about zuko finally getting all the power he wanted and then succumbing to pride #in the final moments of the duel the champion boasted of his victory and in that moment his deceptive foe pulled a wicked trick #he survived the battle and still claimed victory but he was forever left with a scar as a reminder of his arrogance #a mark to truly remind him of his humility #but this one is easily covered and hidden--a mark only he and those closest to him would see #likewise Katara was also not used to fighting alongside someone who wasn't keeping track of her #she was used to fighting on a team and having backup or watching her own back when she's alone #so she wasn't prepared to defend herself and didn't get herself to safety before the lightning flashed #but she was more than ready to fight on her own

Did Katherine of Aragon ever said nasty things about either Elizabeth Tudor or her parentage? Did she said something else than "Scandal of Christendom" about Anne Boleyn? It seems even today writers and historians are so eager to remember the nasty words of Anne, but forget when Anne or her baby daughter were insulted.

She referred to Elizabeth as “perverse offspring” (this was technically more about whatever issue would come from Henry & Anne’s “illegitimate marriage”, but); of Anne, besides that quote, she was not recorded as having said anything about her directly. Her confessor did (‘Jezebel’), though, and it’s plausible that given how frequently Chapuys recorded his private meetings with Katherine, she herself might have often been the source of his retellings of court events involving Anne.

yeah np anon<3 in my personal opinion it’s just an overhyped song at this rate like i wouldn’t say i’m anti bang the doldrums im more just genuinely sick of people saying it’s (one of) their best while it constantly overshadows songs the band has done that are way better both lyrics wise and sound wise 😭 it also doesn’t help that there’s a good chunk of people who say it’s their best solely cause it’s about “petek*y” and completely disregard, again, way better songs especially with this bracket being … doldrums vs one of fob’s most “political” songs... especially with fob being thee political bandom band yknow

#i am also a defender of centuries/abap the album and champion/mania so seeing these same kinda people fall those songs overhyped is like lo #*call #*lol #i do also just have a soft spot in this case for youre crashing cause i got her as one of my double 8balls :’-)

What do u think about Daruk?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i have so much headcanon characterization of him. um. i think about him a normal amount. very little of this will be supported by canon probably but im right anyway.

idk if this is backed up anywhere in-game but in creating a champion it says that daruk and link's father knew each other and that's why he's so friendly with link when we see him in cutscenes. my personal headcanon is that daruk called link's dad "big guy" (tongue-in-cheek since he was definitely nowhere near the size of a goron) hence link's nickname becoming "little guy" by default! I don't think link and daruk REALLY knew each other pre-sword, at most it might have been an uncle-you-see-once-every-five-years type situation. However i think because of that prior connection daruk feels a bit of parental responsibility for link post-sword, and because of this almost familial affection, he is probably the champion that comes the closest to actually doing anything to help link. the problem is, daruk is a goron, and gorons are. well. they are not hylians. gorons have a very strong sense of loyalty and their culture values strength and commitment above all. So when it comes to link, whose issues stem from the fact that he's trying to be TOO strong, that he won't allow himself to show any sliver of weakness, daruk is actually uniquely ill-equipped to help him. His pride and his culture as a goron makes him unable to even pinpoint what exactly link's issue is, let alone how to help him through it. It's obvious to him that SOMETHING is wrong with link; he knows his father, and he knows how the kid acted before the sword. something changed for the worse, that much is certain. but he is, because of the way he was raised, completely blind to the root of the problem. because of this, a lot of what he does to try to "help" link comes off as just. very aggressive encouragement. cheering him on, reminding him of how strong he is, doing everything he can to make sure link believes himself capable of his duty. And his efforts aren't necessarily in vain; it's important that link has SOMEONE in his corner; but they aren't REALLY what link needs in that situation.

#botw champions are SO interesting because they all have this common theme of being victims of circumstance.#zelda and link obv could not choose their paths as prophesized heroes.#mipha can't relate to link as he changes because she was born a zora and is doomed to age twice as slowly as everyone she loves.#revali is SO similar to link that had there been no war they could have been good friends.#urbosa defends her people against a threat that was once one of them.#AGHHHHH.
