i wanna uhhhhhh update my ffxvi post: i did end up giving it a chance and so i will elaborate on the Me (tm) official review: theres a lot buckle in (spoilers for th3 entire game)

First id just like to say soken delivers another phenomenal soundtrack(no surprize there) Historie - the holy empire and Titan lost are some of my favorite tracks in the game i cannot say i expected anything otherwise and it was a delight to get to every major dominant battle to hear what he cooked

on the topic of battle the gameplay was another huge plus for me. when all else failed i found myself returning to ffxvi for the gameplay alone because it is very genuinely fun, fast paced, and i enjoyed the variety of each eikon it kept rhe game fresh for me espically when it slowed down in every other aspect, i enjoyed every eikon battle to death whenever i couldnt decide if i /liked/ the game while playing i remember fighting titan. i had no clue how the fight would play out despite being late to the scene and i was blown away by how good it was. everything about it was so enjoyable it honestly empowered me to get to the rest of them and bahamut was just as much of a treat. it helped i love dion (i will be getting to characters) and his phase themes (beyond the heavens&ascension) were brilliant. the bahamut fight much like titan did not disappoint. for me at least it felt odin had a bit of a much welcomed difficulty spike enjoyed that fight a lot even if it wasnt as cinematic as bahamut and titan

speaking of... cinematic scenes were a weak point to me.. as cool as they were and they /were/ i cant help but feel like there had to be a better way to interrupt the fight. sometimes it really took me out of the moment to have my fight paused to just like press a button or mash or some shit. its fine just got old /fast/

as far as the rest of the battles they were all fun adn well and good.. i enjoyed every fight theme and found every fight mostly enjoyable although i cant help but feel the DPS check section fighting ultima where you kinda fly arounf him in circles would have been leagues more fun if it was a drakengaerd 3 style synced to thr music event... imagine that....it would be so awesome it woukd be so cool................. anyway as far as the actual final fight.. well lets get to the characters and story first

i wont be discussing the controversy surrounding the game because, despite it impacting my experience playing the game in very real ways, it just isnt what i wanna get into in this base post

alright. maybe i wasnt paying rnough attention but the story to me fell apart when ultima became a bigger actor on the stage. absolutely dont get the lad or the crystals. were destroying yhe mother crystals cos theyre killimg the planet fine well and good the story's pacing in this part was really wonk to me haha it would go from desperately boring an sluggish to fun for a moment and then just so boring again. it wasnt until the final two mother crystals when i became invested in whats happening. the mothercrystal plot twist was like oh ok well cid died for nothing /shrug i really dgaf either way i only really care my beloved mid. i really found myself most invested when characters i liked specifically becme involved with the plot (dion its dion its always dion)

dion's story to me was easily the best (yes my favorite heavensward character was aymeric. whos fucking surprised) fang and and vanille always had the most profound impact on me as far as ff relations go and its def because they were the closest thing we had to a canonical queer relationship and i will say dion and terance felt.. good? i know theyre not the /best/ and fang and vanille were leagues ahead of them a decade ago bit theres that just the way theres no question about their queerness just felt so good to see as a long time queer fan of the series who put up w its homophobic moments lol........... they were definitely a genuine highlight for me and their relationship was so beautiful and refreshing i wish we saw more of them.. especially because clive and jill just did not hit lolll. i couldnt believe how little i resonated with clive, joshua too. for me i usually have no problem relating to the main cast they all feel so human and real even when theyre cartoonish theres an undeniable down to earthness and relatability of most of the ff main casts i just couldnt bring myself to really care about clive

jill's story was for a brief moment something interesting and exciting. this was a woman in a yoshi p game w her own arc where the male character plays a fully supportive role and she isnt put in a passive role for her own story to move someone elses development along jill for the briefest moment maintains her own active will to get closure on her trauma where she isnt punished for it its just so disappointing its her only moments in the game. her character arc is chapters short and afterwards she would almost exclusively play passive roles, even giving clive her powers after they share an equally intimate scene both naked and venerable only for a dynamic to be reinserted through the form of dominant's power

clive was just nothing to me, i honestly tried to like him and i did mostly enjoy joshua as a character but i just did not ever care for his story ultima was so unfleshed out and strange ffxvi was best when it was pretty grounded to the on continent conflicts, the story doesnt feel like it was built around ultima the story honestly feels like it was built around the empire and ultima was an after thought. and man vs empire and then suddenly extraterrestrial/celestial freaks are involved isnt even uncommon ff plot progression. i could play like 5 other final fantasy games at that point. if the combat in ffxvi werent so addicting it would have nothing. (untrue of course it always has a brilliant soundtrack) i just really did not like the way the game built off itself it never felt natural or believable. none of the conflict with ultima felt grounded or natural or like it was built up in any meaningful way

i really dont understand the hype around clive hes very genuinely just a pretty face. i just dont care about u at all no matter how hard i tried

i never cared about hugo or benedickta either, although theyre like tertiary antagonists to be fair

joshua was another highlight for me. hes just very polite and jote was cute if definitely underutilized. i really dont have much else to say i wasnt surprised he died

clive i knew would die, that was a spoiler i knew w out a doubt going in and i was completely disappointed in it anyway. joshua made sense at Least he was basically dying the entire game and dion well. it makes sense yoshi p would kill the one gay man we cant have shit in eorzea but seeing clives entire arc be no dont kill yourselfffffff..... the world and its endless beauty is a bounty of possibilities and meaning. just to die anyway feels well. it just feels and to be fair clive did sacrifice himself for the lives of others but the scene where cid tells clive not to kill himself- regardless of how ungentle he put it- just feels so empty because well clive u could hav just killed yourself there i guess. sorry you were a slave for 13 years youll die before you get to live your life for yourself. like cmon narratively a more satisfying arc for him would have been to overcome this and live for himself even if he has to live w out joshua. he can move on hes done it partially before hes accepted himself he must live but he doesnt get to

its a shame. also unrelated the final fantasy namedrop made me reel but i forgave it for honestly being a little camp......... the lodestone name drop is Not forgiven. just horrible someone shpuld be fired

i dont really have much else to say and out of a desire to post this soon im gonna wrap it up. honestly i had high hopes for final fantasy 16 and im not one to go "oh final fantasy now sucks" because i Love ff13. i love ff15. i liked ff14 a normal amount. but ff16 just felt underwhelming compared to them.. it looked leagues better dont get me wrong even if ill always think ff13 is visually the best out of 'modern' final fantasy for its incredible cgi cutscenes good art direction and the ps3 charm the realtime cutscenes in 16 sometimes felt undynamic in comparison but real time vs cgi is very literally games hardware vs movie so........ not comparable tbh the environment and general worldbuilding of 16 was just so lackluster. the world felt so unreal even if it looked incredibly real, the plot was unfocused at times and inadequately built up, the characters are mostly uninteresting, and the character eith the most meaningful connection to clive was torgal. well torgal and cid but cid dies and leaves a gaping hole in the 'good character' category when it was just him mid and dion to begin with

ok so both movies start by introducing their protags, neil and jack. theyre both the Popular Kid/Leader, of sorts. has a lot of friends/knows a lot of people. life could be better, could be worse. adults treat them :// the story really Starts though after introducing his lovely Narrative Foil, todd and david respectively. both are more reserved, just want to finish school/do their job in peace and solitude and be on their way. but neil and jack are like Actually No. you're my best friend now and there's nothing you can do about it. todd and david are like. fucking . fine. anyway then plot happens, there's stuff about seizing the day and standing up to authority in both! how fun. however, the ending of the movies is where it takes a sharp left. by the end, neil and todd and jack and david have become Neil And Todd and Jack And David! cute. BUT. in dps, neil's attempt to seize the day and do what he wants with his life is stopped. so he takes back control of his life by leaving. permanently. which, you know, crushes todd. jack, on the other hand, successfully seizes the day, and still decides to leave. which maybe mightve crushed david. but since his way of leaving was to simply leave town, in another attempt to do what he wanted and take control of his life, he had the chance to realize he wanted something different now, and there were other options besides leaving, and there was something worth sticking around for. so. yeah

So far from what I’ve read from your DPxDC fanfictions I’m in love. Danny would just thrive so much having other supers/vigilantes to bounce off of.

BUTT it got me thinking… What about Dani? She doesn’t have the ghost crown tying her to Amity Park nor is she responsible for any ghost containment. If she’s really stabilized she can go wherever she wants in the world. Heck if she’s feeling drained she could take a dunk in a Lazarus Pit for all we know. Plus she’s got the black hair blue eyes too. AND a very good reason not to trust rich men wanting to adopt kids.

Danny would become top tier hero if he had other heroes to rely on >w< He already has the powers and from experience knows that life is in his hands, plus natural leader. I thought a lot about Dani's dynamic in DC crossover. There is a lot you can do with her, plus it be easier for her to run into heroes because she's roaming around. Also think it be fun if someone did a story of Catwoman semi-adopting Dani.. She be so proud of her little thief. XD I can see them both jiving well together. Meet while stealing =w= With the bats in particular, can see her wandering into Gotham and running into them. If she gives any of them a time of day its because one of them reminds her of Danny, so that little bit of security... (Which wouldn't be Bruce because Batman scary XD) Tim or Dick more likely.. or even Jason because he has that ghostly feel. Anyways Dani I see as a loner mischievous type, she's still fresh to the world so she doesn't have strong morals. I think Batman would actually be really good for her to grow, plus Batman actually has experience with kids that act like her. Once he overcomes her trust issues with billionaires of course. Dani also I don't see as the heroic type, anti-hero at best. She just rather be free and have fun, so I can see her running around as robin just for funs but decide heroing isn't for her. Her getting excited about doing normal things until she realize they're boring like school XDD. Can see Cass being a good mentor/older figure for her too. Dani would wreck havoc at galas.. and Bruce couldn't prove a thing. =w=' Kek. But like I said I see Bruce being a good figure for Dani because of his experience with the other kids.. and having strong morals. Which encourages Dani to start revaluating her own morale and what she is or isn't ok with. What crosses the line for her. Idk if her and B ever be close but she definitely would love all her family members and fight for them in a heartbeat. Ooo can also see if Batman doesn't know about Danny yet... Dani probably confusing the heck out of them.. when she mentions Danny.. because Dani is her name XD... but also them finding out about her "cuz". In DC crossover I see like Danny being good for Bruce's growth more than his own and Bruce being better for Dani's growth. Because Danny isn't like the other kids he's adopted.. despite looking and acting similar. He KNOWS the dangers, he knows how bad a screw up can change everything. He's half-dead, so he's very well aware that death is a possibilty. So Bruce would have to change his approach if he ever want to get close to/mentor Danny. Kek sorry for long post. I had the Dani thing explained better in my head, but anyways. Dani is perfect to use for a dp x dc especially for the bats. Tim bringing over Kon... Connner? ......k or c? ANYWAYS brings him over and she can relate to another clone. If going off from what I have written from my own fanfic.. can see Dani existing makes Danny and Bruce argue.. because Bruce like why haven't you told me and leaving her alone like that was irresponsible. Danny like WHAT YOU EXPECT FROM ME BRUCE?! I'm 16, she doesn't have a cellphone, and the only place that ISNT safe for her is my home town. Well until now.. AND WE HAVE A VENDETTA AGAINST BILLIONAIRES! Why would I tell someone I'm still trying to learn to trust?! Plus I like to make sure she's ok with it before telling you. Because its HER LIFE that's at risk. Anyways Danielle has so much potential. She just hyper little op demon. Chaotic little girl. ..again sorry for the long thing XD

this tier follows a rating of perfect-amazing-good-didn't really care-get them away from my face. major stone ocean spoilers under the cut, having said all that, lets proceed

this is possibly one of the few parts where i've actually enjoyed the main villain as much as the main group. jolyne is an outstanding jojo - while she shares the same ambition as her father (might be the joestar/kujo genes), she is very much herself. she shows extreme strength and resilience but in the same breath she cares for her friends/the stocean gang (see: jolyne telling emporio they can keep in touch with the phone she stole from rykiel). this caring, big sister esque personality seems to also carry over to irene. as someone who relates to jolyne a lot, i can definitely feel she has a lot of love in her heart despite not growing up with a fatherly figure. she is tough - shaped like that because of her circumstances.

i loved hermes a lot, her personality is super fun and her stand is insanely destructive. i liked how she came for revenge once she had properly figured out how kiss worked - which didn't take long to figure out. foo fighters' death was very upsetting to me, i personally loved them a lot. they showed amazing character development and it was very sad to see them die because they just... had something to live for. whether that be jolyne (which, to me, seems as a beacon of hope in stone ocean) or just valuing life. a life outside of protecting whitesnake's disks, a life that foof could call theirs. them & weather dying but pushing jolyne closer to pucci was really saddening, but their sacrifices definitely weren't for nothing.

emporio, my poor boy, deserves some slack. i find it very karmic justice that emporio and weather (via the weather report stand disk) defeated pucci. emporio deserves the best, i hate how kids (see: lucy, hayato and to some extent, the VA gang that is <18) go through such difficult situations which end up traumatizing them. emporio definitely carries a heavy burden on his shoulders and he's barely 11, which is very young for a boy. weather was very badass and his fight with pucci at a certain point felt like jotaro v dio (which is referenced with the knives pointed at jolyne) when the crystalized shards of blood were pointing at him. loved him a lot especially in the bohemian rhapsody arc, where he found out how to defeat ungalo.

and now... sigh. here on hitmanboyfriend dot tumblr dot com we LOVE narciso anasui. anasui is very unapologetically himself, with his little attitude, foul mouth and his extreme fondness for jolyne (which she doesn't reciprocate. she barely bats an eyelash. if there's anybody yall should hate, there's gwess. yall just hate to see a boytoy winning). anasui is also someone who went through INSANE character development - from not really caring about anybody else that isn't jolyne, to the point where he had diver down phased inside of everyone. hadn't he cared, he would've only had diver down phased inside of jotaro and jolyne at the MiH fight and even possibly wouldn't offer to take the damage redirected to him via dd. anasui is one of my stone ocean favorites and i love him a lot, despite all his flaws (which flaws? he's perfect).

and onwards to pucci - pucci is a good villain in the sense that what he wanted to do was for the better of humanity (same as FV who just wanted to make america the most prosperous land). in a sense, if you think about it, knowing what everyone's destiny might make you happy. but also, wouldn't it make you incomplete? life is here to be lived on after all, and the paths we tread aren't paths we need to know completely. it completely stumps the human experience. but either way, back to pucci. his determination and strength are no joke, and in my opinion made in heaven as an arc and as a stand are the most terrifying. there's nothing more terrifying than knowing time is slipping away from you since it's accelerating faster and faster. i can't wait for the anime to see how they'll do made in heaven (stand and arc). definitely gives you the chills

having been done with the gang - imo stone ocean didn't have many memorable minor antags like sbr, sdc and vento aureo. the only memorable ones i can point out were gwess (who despite my previous judgement, i love unapologetically). stand isnt that impressive considering formaggio exists (and can shrink himself, which gwess cant do), but her design and overall character are my favorite. unhinged women are my favorite. miraschon is also a favorite because of her design and her stand, debt collector. i thought her arc was very fun, although im not sure how dp will handle this (or even stocean as a whole) since stocean is a bit heavier with gore. from dio's kids, my favorite (Excluding giorno) is donatello - he definitely shares far more similarities to his father dio than the rest, reminds me of diego in the sense he just wanted to achieve personal happiness now that he'd been granted his stand and was ready to disregard pucci and his ulterior motives just for his own personal ones. the other dio boys weren't that bad (love rykiel as a character, sky high is an epic stand and i love his design - ungalo gave us wolf anasui so i think we should be grateful as anasui fans), but i just found donatello personally more intriguing.

fuck sports maxx. idk what else to write here. overall stone ocean has a very likeable main cast (depending on who you are, i guess).

do u got any baptiste tips? hes a lot of fun but i wanna get better at him!

ive been practicing a fuckton of baptiste this year and i finally reached 50 hours on him so im excited to share tips. im just warning that i dont play competitive and really just play quick play or arcade but i still work hard and study up to get gud at him despite that. im not sure what baptiste tips you need specifically but i guess i’ll do a Baptiste 101 with each of his abilities

biotic launcher-healing grenades

all i have to say about his primary healing is that it should be 70-80% of what youre doing during the match. also aim it at the ground instead of directly at players so you have a greater chance of hitting them

biotic launcher- damage

his gun is pretty clunky and hard to get used to but once youre decent at it you can be very effective at doing damage, like zen level effective, so make sure to use it when your team doesnt need healing atm

it’s also hitscan so focus pharahs when you have the chance. you can also wipe tracer out pretty easily and be a problem for her if she’s trying to get into your backline (if ur aim is good enough, but its super hard for me lol). also focusing fire on the enemy supports can be really helpful

regenerative burst

since this ability has a long cooldown, my thing with regen is getting as much Value out of it as you can because it helps a ton with emergency healing

if im not solo healing then i usually don’t use it to only heal myself unless its an Emergency. i’ll usually wait until either others around me need healing too or my 2nd healer takes care of me. im also very cheap with it but you know what, this ability don’t come cheap!

best used during intense team battles when your team is taking a shiton of damage as emergency healing along with your healing grenades. when youre pumping the grenades into them coupled with regen burst it can be super tough for the enemy to kill them

sometimes i use it to emergency heal the squishies around me who are being difficult to hit due to them jumping up and down from taking fire or whatever it is

in theory its good to use before/during one of your dps is using an ultimate that makes them vulnerable (genji/reaper/pharah/etc). it also wont really save you from most offensive enemy team ultimates

immortality field

this ability is the bane of my existence

obv we know its best behind corners during team fights

obv we also know its super effective against a bunch of enemy ultimates (grav, dragons, dvabomb, deadeye, barrage, pulse bomb, tire, meteor strike, blade, blizzard, gravitic flux, shatter, config tank) so tracking enemy ults is helpful.

timing is also helpful too, e.g., wait till rip tire/dvabomb gets close so the team cant destroy it before they land, wait till youre taking damage from grav/see if youre gonna take any damage at all, etc

throwing it behind a blading genji forces him to have to do a 180 to destroy it & disorients him

you could argue that it’s not as effective against death blossom and tac visor BUT i have a few tips for them

death blossom: i usually wait for during/after the 2nd “Die” to throw down the field, assuming my team has most of their HP already. this means that the remaining duration of his ult has to be spent killing the field, and your team wont have any deaths and will maintain around a quarter of their health

tac visor: this one’s trickier since soldier takes it down pretty quickly. you can wait till he uses a little bit of it to throw it, you can chuck it behind something, you can use it to give yourself/your teammates a little bit of time to get out, its just super dependent on the situation but can be effective if the situation is read right

torb’s lava destroys it (unless you strategically place the drone next to the lava), emp hacks it, bob targets it when he realizes he cant kill an enemy, too much knockback on winston & roadhog’s ults to place it effectively

super helpful when the enemy team is jumping your bastion, gives him the opportunity to just wipe them

super helpful to save individual teammates from potential oneshot abilities like charge, hook, mei freeze, trying to get through a sniper nest. id say doomfist too but realistically it happens way too fast to react quickly enough to it

during team fights i usually wait to use it when the team is taking too much damage that im not able to out heal

a lot of this ability is 1) management and 2) quick reactions and really the only way to get good at those is to practice him!

amplification matrix

use it to either 1) initiate 2) counter-initiate or 3) during big team fights

it’s a throw away ult in all honesty, don’t be afraid to be liberal about its use because youll get it back in like 2 mins

i find that most baptiste players place it directly in front of them but i find it most effective when placed further up in front of the enemy team instead, it gives more of an opportunity to be used by the rest of your team

yes it can be placed in front of you to allow you to emergency heal during big team fights but i have to move around so much at those times that i dont find me getting use out of it from that? im still trying to figure out how to best use it to amp heals but i havent yet :/

comboing with bastion is pretty fun. comboing with mccree, soldier, roadhog, or bastion when theyre ulting is even more fun

im still learning how to best use this ult too, its whats taking me the longest to figure out about bap’s kit tbh

exo boots

this is such a good ability to give yourself high ground so do just that! just make sure youre not isolating yourself to get shot at. getting high ground allows you to see the playing field clearer, give yourself more access to heal your team, keep yourself safe, and throw down immortality field at key moments to save your team (e.g., your entire team getting earth shattered)

also be careful not to be that guy and get sniped because of it LOL it makes baptiste very slow moving and predictable

once you get a finesse for it, you can use it to dodge, avoid damage, give yourself more access to heal, etc, but its all about practice

if you think youre about to get meteor striked, save yourself by charging them up all the way and jumping after you see the red circle. you’ll still take damage but you’ll maintain like 50 something hp

if you cant get out of blizzard you can delay getting frozen by jumping up all the way. you’ll still fall back down and freeze but it gives mei less time to kill you

its good practice to keep to keep it charged at all times just in case (but i dont even do that LOL its still good practice)

thats all i have for now there’s probably many more good tips about him & maybe some of this isnt even right but its what i learned from playing him since his release :) he’s one of my favorite heroes to play and very very fun. not only that but he’s in the current meta for the first time which is exciting. everyone should pick up baptiste!

Just like how pretty much every dps ult can essentially wipe out a team? But ok, Mercy is too overpowered.

"Whyre you so mad, you can still keep rez? And you can still Valk?"

Oh joy, all the fun of usual mercy being killed, left behind and screamed at but now I can fly for 15 seconds and lose everything else that makes an ult, an ult.

"Mercy is still going to be top picked, I don't understand why people are so upset"

Yes, because she is still the most reliable support character and the easiest to pick up and heal adequately on a team of 6 dps mains, even if you've never played her.

"But she can be the only support and the team can still be fine! See, too OP"

See above, she is still the most reliable in terms of delivering the healing each person needs. I personally think the other supports need to be buffed when it comes to healing but nerfing mercy is too much fun now.

"Well you still have rez shouldn't you be happy?"

Oh I am, an almost unusable and situational ability that is almost a guarantee for death now if you sit and rez, at least when you ulted you got a taste of the quickness and flight that made valk live up to its name.

"Well Mercy was too hard to hit during her ult!"

What's the first person everyone aims for in a game? the mercy. I cant tell you how many times I've died or been shut down the moment I ult as mercy by 3 dps or 2 solo ults on just me so I don't get a rez in before I can breathe. But she's suppose to be fast during ult, she wasn't invincible! If people still managed to headshot tracer or lucio zipping around, you can kill an ulting mercy too. Why don't we take away Tracers blink and Lucios speed boost then on the same logic?

"I dont get why youre complaining, other hero's have been nerfed too"

Every other week? Anytime we even see the words rework or nerf in an update who is the first character to jump into your mind? Mercy.

"Then stop playing a garbage character"

Says the guy who probably rages the most if someone picks Zen or Lucio to heal instead of a mercy, or who loses his mind if he wasn't pocketed or revived and blames the mercy for the loss.

"But this should help deal with some of the players who got mad and toxic when Mercy would save her team"

We should be happy that the support hero is being punished for essentially doing her job too well?? And oh yes, I'm so happy those rage quitters and throwers are truly happy and they will probably never blame a loss on their healer again. Yup.

"Well she's still super strong and you guys should be grateful you still have her and her kit."

Yes quite. Some will stop playing because now it seems like a prison sentence to have to play her, and it isnt as fun. But one half of mercy mains will no doubt adapt and still somehow be good enough to tilt several dps players and I have no doubt their complaints will be heard again. Soon mercy will be nerfed once more and a FMA play style will be formatted that you must give up her life in order to rez and be punished for healing stability by making her lose her own hp in an equivalent exchange to heal her teammates. Can't wait.

So my friends have been wanting me to start playing Overwatch, so I decided to look into it. It seems like a fun game, and I definitely want to try it out; I'd just like to know a few tips before I get started on playing?

hoo boy i may be a plat skrub but i know what im on about sometimes

get your personal settings down like binds and sens and that before you play!

learn a selection of heroes that teach you more about the game than just straight up DPS, like lucio, reinhardt and winston (theyre so helpful for positioning and game sense)

understand when your pick has value and when it doesnt (for example, swapping off reinhardt if youre not shielding anybody at all)

pay attention to team comp! its not too bad when youre new, but try to combine synergies! (for example, pharmercy or rein and mccree)

ignore medals! they mean nothing! “but rey, i have gold elims, im doing the best!” did those elims mean you won a teamfight, or was it the right pick at the right time? focus on whether youre winning or not more than your stats!

remember the win condition! for example, pushing the payload is what you need to do to win, but winning team fights is the win condition. win the teamfight, win the game!

GROUP UP OH MY GOD dying to regroup is better than feeding enemy ultimates i promise

focus fire priority targets, but remember healers arent always the top priority. for example, a carry tracer can be the priority, and if youre not getting kills as a team, its probably poor focus fire!

ultimate usage is so important and youll learn as you go, but make sure you dont panic ult to save your life, as one death isnt as impactful as a team wipe!

Analysis of the incoming PTR Changes for Overwatch, by Me

https://blizztrack.com/patch_notes/overwatch_ptr (Written on 11/18/19) jesus christ have yall seen these patch notes? Orisa is completely fucked, as is every shield tank, but her worst of all. Rien is fucked, Orisa is fucked, and poor Sigma, brand new, is extremely fucked. They didn't even lower her barrier cooldown back to what it was before they were trying to nerf her shield. 10 seconds for 600-point shield? you kidding? god. Dive is coming back 100% from this. Legit, no question. they didnt even bother to nerf winston's barrier shield with it, so that bubble is going to remain just as strong as before. At least widow will be harder to play, so thank god for that (I hate snipers), but the genji and moira changes were just plain unnecessary. None of the "buffs" the shield tanks are getting are actually going to make it worth playing them, because blizzard still doesnt know that making heroes worse at their jobs just fucks them over, and no "alternative adjustments" will fix that. You'd have thought they'd learned that with the mercy nerfs and how bad of a spot she was in after that (she still isnt considered a "main healer" anymore), but now the 2 of the biggest main tanks and the newest off-tank are just down the drain.

D.va is definitely gonna make a comeback, that's guaranteed. Her armor and defense matrix are getting buffed, and with shields meaning even less, and one of the main healers getting FUCKED (bruh, Moira, 80hp/s to 65hp/s? that's 5 more than pre-heal-nerf mercy, which was still not super fast), she'll just be able to melt absolutely everything. And with Zarya getting a minor buff, she'll need to eat more graviton surges than before, so I'm predicting she's making a comeback, 100%. Pair her with Hammond or Winston, and you'll have the unstoppable dive meta, if you combine with say, Lucio and Ana (who will probably get nerfed later because god forbid any of the healers be good at actually healing, thanks blizzard). But yeah, Dive Meta returns is my prediction. And the dps who will sit at the top will be Doomfist, who is still unpunishable (don’t try to argue with me on this, literally all of the pros have said the exact same shit), Tracer, who's buff means even faster death for healers who can no longer hide behind shields, and Genji, who they felt the need to buff his ammo for no reason.

Now, for an opinion.

Dive is the worst meta, ngl.Some people really like it, but dude, there is nothing fun about not being able to actually hit anything because the movement of their dps makes them extremely hard to hit, as their whole team kills you in .2 seconds, sending you back to the spawn room over and over again. It’s not fun.

gw2 is still a fun game but after playing a game as polished as ffxiv i can understand why people prefer pay to play vs free to play / buy once but no sub. the writing is a big thing tbh- i really hate how a lot of people will excuse the really bad writing- like PoF was great, i loved it- the pacing was nice, the writing actually felt good for once, but it still doesnt really excuse the uh. drop in quality during the LS segments. And doesnt really excuse how trahearne, caithe, braham, have been treated within the last year or so. or really how some things never get resolved, or the fact that like... trahearne was killed for no good reason. other than the forumbase hating him. Like okay you could argue that on the FFXIV side as well, but FFXIV has the uh.

At least has the ability to make ______’s death absolutely emotional. I actually cried. I didnt cry when trahearne died. bc i saw it coming from a mile away, because i knew they would give into the pressure. ppl dont like him, might as well kill him. there are a lot of things that, after taking a break for as long as i did, im noticing now in gw2 that i actually... kind of hate. or at the very least, dislike. not just from the writing standpoint- but also from the way that anet balance’s things, doesnt do testing before hand, doesnt try to right what they got wrong bc they dont actually realize how their classes actually work. people joke “haha necro’s dead, time to wait until the next big balance patch before they (maybe) fix it.” same with thief. that isnt right. no class should be absolutely nerfed into the ground every time theres a balance patch.

like they nerfed scourge dps into the ground but I guess condi weaver, sitting pretty at 47-48k for single target dps, is fine??? i genuinely dont understand why anet does the things that it does to gw2. I feel like they... maybe dont know how to deal with it. that theyre understaffed and have to cut corners. I know its not pay to play, and they rely on the gem shop to help them out bc they have no sub, they have no other income than ppl 1: buying the game and 2: ppl buying gems from the gemstore. which is really unfortunate. because theres a lot of good in gw2, despite all the bad. the new maps are gorgeous, the new characters were dynamic, the new specs are fun.

i think the most i love out of gw2 at this point is my characters. and thats kind of where the love ends. i loved raiding- i got pushed out of my own group. now when i raid- its almost... easy. It is easy. too easy. theres no challenge. the one thing keeping me in gw2 was that, and now its just... disappointing. im glad that people still enjoy the game, i really do. it has so much potential still, 5 years later, and i want to believe that anet can fix what theyve gotten wrong (over the last 5 years) and really pull gw2 out of the slump its been in since HoT dropped. bc i really want to hope and believe that anet can do that.

basically just like

what race they’d be/play, what class, what spec, how theyd play, how often they play, etc, etc...

idk how many characters im doing so more below the read more bullshit

OKAY so lets start off with the kids

ok personally i think john would play either a monk or a paladin?? like i think he’d prefer the playstyle of a paladin but his monk would be for heals in case a raid group or smth needs it. he’d honestly probably do LFR and just casually play in general, but sometimes he’d play for like 11 days straight then not get back on for 2 months. but when he’s playing casually he just does LFR and world questing, maybe sometimes doing dungeon groups with dave or something. he’d probably be a DPS paladin because tanking is bullshit and so is healing. (believe me i know) he’d also use the heckin goofiest mounts there are. like you know the chicken? he’d spend the money to get it. like actual cash. he wants the chicken. let him have the chicken. but back on the topic of race he’d probably play a dwarf or a gnome. he’d probably have a level 2 gnome hunter. he also runs a prank guild that all the kids are in! a few trolls are in it, too. vriska, kanaya, terezi, and karkat are in it.

rose??? would probably play a shadow priest. probably nothing else, really. she may go heals every once in a while but dont expect her to want to. she plays a human. she only plays human and worgen. belf if she has to go horde. i dont really know if she’d just play casually because dave roped her in, or if she got really into it so now she has 12 max level characters. even if she doesnt like the game itself, she’d probably really like the lore!!! she’d probably also love the idea of xmog and what you can make your characters look like, bc some of the xmog is really badass. she’d probably use the emo purple bird thing as a mount (i forgot the name) or maybe she’d use the wotlk undead dragons. maybe the bc netherwing dragons?? im not sure!!! for pets she’d def have the feline familiar with her at all times (roxy would too) because who doesnt want a little witch kitty flying on a broom with you???

dave would honestly play a survival hunter. except he’d just punch shit to death. just autoattack. though when he’s ACTUALLY playing like a normal person he’d probably play a dps warrior. i could also see him tanking sometimes if he needs to. he probably only has one or two max level characters, but they have decent gear. he probably sometimes actually plays his hunter in a decent way but he probably just goes to low level neutral areas. he probably plays on a pvp server for that exact reason. he has one level 10 belf. he uses it to dance on mailboxes and get gold. he really just trolls people on it. he also roleplays, but makes sure to do it in the shittiest way possible. he only uses walk. no running. he uses the biggest mounts he has and walks on roleplayers when hes playing on an rp server. he probably raids on his warrior and is probably in a raiding guild. he purposefully mic spams the raid so he just gets muted, though. for mounts he’d obviously use the love rocket that he worked oh so hard for. for pets i dont really know what hed use?? probably brightpaw or whatever the purple cat thing is. he makes rose disappointed because he pays for mounts and pets with real money. tsk tsk. he has no professions except fishing, which he has maxed out. he may also have a DK that he has just to piss people off. hes the second highest tier in the prank guild. whenever they do raids (they occasionally do) he rp walks across the map to get to the raid. kanaya screams at him to accept the summon but he insists that he’s almost there.

jade would def have herbalism as her main profession!! she may also have mining to sell on the auction house. she would DEFINITELY play a bm hunter!! its a worgen all the way. she prefers to have it in worgen form too. since she doesnt really like horde and cant use many wolf mounts, shed def go with the mechanostriders! for flying i think she’d use the serpents!! i could also see her using the pandaren turtle moutns. her fave xpac is def either mop or wod. she actually liked garrisons. she’s really slow w leveling so she isn’t max level for legion, but her friends still play with her!! (me too buddy) she likes doing mount/pet/reagent farming and regularly gives her friends herbs and other mats to level their professions! she also sometimes roleplays with dave in goldshire to mess with people. she loves using emotes like /lol and /joke! she also uses toys VERY often. her hunter pet is a white wolf named bec, and she has a team of battle pets consisting of fel pup, frostwolf ghostpup, and cinder pup! sometimes she’ll use lil bad wolf, though. she’s actually super good at pet battling, but she only battles friends. she doesnt play to be the “best”, she just plays because its a fun game! she also loves playing hearthstone.

jane doesnt play much, and has a level 60 dwarf resto shaman. the only reason she has looms is because roxy gave her the gold to get them. she only has level 20 riding, and only has a single horse. she still plays with friends, but the game just really isnt her cup of tea. she has a few cool pets she found while playing in low level areas, and she likes playing the auction house when she does play! she’s in a prank guild that john owns (all the kids are in it, they prank the trolls and roleplayers) and that’s honestly the thing she enjoys the most.

roxy loves doing pvp with dirk. some of her friends call them the sneakies. she plays a rogue, and switches around her spec depending on what kind of pvp she’s doing. (as in she switches specs for open world, battlegrounds or arenas) she’s decked out in full pvp gear and always gets the newest tiers when theyre released. though she loves pvp she really does love raiding but she prefers playing with her friends! she helps everyone exploit game bugs for the prank guild, and will help cover peoples tracks when gold buying and such. she has all of her fun mounts set as favorites and just randomizes which one she rides. she uses the feline familiar pet EVERYWHERE. she wont use any other pet. at all. roxy also datamines ptr and spoils new lore for rose occasionally.

hoo boy. dirk is a top tier pvper. he mostly mains a ww monk and a rogue for pvp. he has 12 max level characters and 12 horde ones that are also max. he chooses class/race combos based on which one is the most reasonable for lore. he has an orc hunter named getshrekt. hes gold capped on all of his alliance characters. hes basically sleeve (if you play on bonechewer i hope you know who im talking about) he multiboxes 25 accounts to shit on leveling players. roxy helped him set this all up. all of his bots and multiboxes are hal. hal plays with him. he buys gold from a third party source and overthrows the wow economy. he causes the great depression in wow. he buys out every mat and then puts them back on the auction house for a few silver. since hes gold capped this has 0 affect. his character for the prank guild is maxed out and in pretty decent pvp gear. its also gold capped. he buys level boosts and uses actual money to buy tokens to increase his gold numbers. hes everyones worst nightmare. hes the reason no one plays horde on dirks server. dirk plays with roxy a LOT. they do arenas and basically just crush anyone who dares standing up to him. he exploits game bugs and has items people didnt know exist. he uses his special snowflake mounts that people thought were unattainable. he has bots farming spawn points for herbs and mining nodes. he plans on ruling the economy of his server. he ganks people that are his own level. he camps their corpses until they force quit the game. hes absolutely hated. he’ll be flying, and itll look like someone with a glitched name. then he’ll land in front of someone, and 20 multiboxes will spread out behind him. he ganks his victim. there is no escape. no mercy.

jake plays a worgen mm hunter! he refuses to use bows and crossbows. it ALWAYS has to be xmogged to a gun. he mostly does world quests and only has horse mounts to keep it simple and traditional. he likes to collect pets and plays with jade a lot! he’s also in the prank guild and absolutely LOVES it. he loves the open world aspect of the game. he also collects random items in-game, like the scarabs from ahnqiraj (i personally collect those oops) he’s also a bit of an altoholic, and loves leveling, but never really finishes anything. he has all of the exploration achievements. ALL OF THEM. he love love LOVES exploring the maps in the game. he also actually LIKED the cata revamp because it gave him more to explore. he has a goblin thats also a hunter thats level capped just so he could explore horde areas without worrying about being ganked or attacked. he knows his way in all of the major cities. you know huntards? well jake is the complete opposite of that. hes an amazing hunter. it surprises his friends.

bonus: hal helps dirk with being an asshole to everyone on the servers he plays on. he multiboxes with dirk and set up bots to watch the auction house for him. hes just as much as an asshole as dirk is.

NOW FINALLY ON TO THE TROLLS!!!!

aradia plays a belf destruction warlock. she’s a casual player and plays with sollux a lot. she doesnt play very often, but when she does she gets really into the game, especially when playing with friends! she doesnt have many mounts, but she has the headless horseman mount and thats what she uses most of the time. she has maxed out archaeology and has all the items for it. though she has the pets from it, the only pets she uses are frogs.

tavros plays a gnome bm hunter unironically. hes not a very good hunter but not huntard level. he mostly plays with the other lowbloods, sometimes vriska. he only really got roped into wow because of its ties to hearthstone. he wanted to know more about the characters, but stayed because of the animals. it really isnt too much of his cup of tea, but still plays because his friends do. he doesnt have professions nor a maxed out character. he has the mechanostrider mounts and the default pets. he also has the heartstone mount.

sollux heckin loves wow. he plays a troll mage. he switches between fire and frost, but never arcane. he hates arcane. he mostly plays with aradia, but he likes the occasional raid. he has good dps with decent gear. hes mostly a casual, but he loves messing with the games files and datamining.

karkat is a....special player. he has a blood dk that hes maxed out but hes in all green quest gear. he keeps trying to defeat dave in a dual but it doesnt work. dave got rose and john to help convince karkat that gnome is masterrace. he believed them. now hes a shitty little gnome aggroing everything and getting caught in the fire. he’s very upset because he cant beat dave. help this poor boy. his only pets are crabs. he has all of them. every single one. they’re all the poorest quality, but he loves them anyways. the only mounts he’ll use is mammoths to be an asshole to everyone. he plays a lot because he wants to crush dave’s pride. help this boy.

nepeta plays either a bm hunter or a feral druid! she roped equius in, and they tried to level together, but equius went too fast, so nepeta doesnt have a maxed out character. she enjoys playing with him nonetheless, even if its just running around stormwind! she plays on a roleplay server (NOT moodguard) and loves roleplaying and meeting new people. she rides the tiger/saber mounts and has all of the cat pets! she almost refuses to go out of cat form when on her druid. both of her toons are nelfs.

kanaya mains a human affli warlock and a nelf demon hunter. she likes the aesthetic of both locks and dhs, but prefers the play style of a warlock. she plays with rose most of the time, and they do world quests when they play. she has tailoring and enchanting as her professions, and both are maxed out. she prefers this because she can just make her own gear to sell and get gold. she has the jade panther that rose made her, and uses that mount most of the time. she doesnt really like collecting pets, but rose gave her a moth that she adores.

terezi plays a resto druid on nepetas server, and mostly roleplays with vriska. she roleplays as a dragon most of the time. she has all of the dragon pets and mounts, and shes VERY proud of her collection and wont hesitate to rub it in vriskas face. she almost got banned multiple times trying to complete her collection. she prefers doing old world raids and farming to get xmog to improve her roleplay outfit, and so she can have different sets for different characters. she sometimes roleplays with nepeta, but most of the time she roleplays with vriska.

vriska plays a nelf demon hunter, and roleplays with terezi on her server. sadly theres no spider mounts but she has the recruit a friend rocket because she did raf with tavros. she does pvp when shes not roleplaying, and she’s trying to get on the highest level. she has all of the spider pets. every single one of them. she tries to overthrow the auction house, but cant. (shes not on dirks server, so hes not messing her up. its just that she doesnt have much gold because of xmog.) she likes to ruin some peoples rolaplays, but loves roleplaying with terezi and sometimes nepeta.

equius only got into the game because of nepeta. he didnt think hed like it at first, but he really does. he prefers to tank. he has a maxed out dk, warrior, monk, and paladin. he and nepeta tried to level characters together, but he went too fast for her. he has all of the horse mounts and will only ride those. hes not very interested in pets except the engineering ones, and engineering is maxed out on his main toon. he enjoys raiding in his free time, but will also pvp for mounts. hes mostly casual.

oh man, gamzee should be interesting. he plays a troll shaman. no one really knows what he does, really. they just see that hes online and in a major city. is he playing the auction house? is he talking to people? no one knows. when the darkmoon faire comes around, he plays for all 7 days straight. he doesnt really ride mounts or have pets, but he collects them. no one knows why he plays or HOW hes maxed out in raiding gear. he just is.

eridan is a whiny bitch when it comes to wow. he wants to get on dirks level but doesnt know how to. even though hes sometimes a bitch about it, he does enjoy roleplaying and playing with karkat. he plays an arcane mage or a mm hunter. the only mount he rides is the sea turtle mount. you know the one? the one that makes you slow on land but fast in water? yea. he rides that. he HAS other mounts, but he wants the turtle.

feferi does NOT like wow. i mean, yea, she’ll heal for raids, but she doesnt like killing things. she plays a resto shaman and doesnt use a specific mount because she doesnt play that often.

calliope also doesnt like wow, but will play with roxy. she likes doing pet battles, and thats really all she does. she has a level 10 druid that doesnt have a spec. she has no mounts but has cool pets that roxy gave her. she camps in stormwind and refuses to go ANYWHERE else.

caliborn LOVES world of warcraft. he roleplays with dirk on moonguard, but dirk says nothing. just to piss off caliborn. he tried to multibox to kill dirk, but he ended up freezing his game. he constantly pesters the alpha kids, and really doesnt talk to anyone else except to make fun of new players. he has 1 mount and its the goblin mount. he mains a goblin rogue thats level 40.

everyone complaining about no one wanting to play support. but then there’s me who keeps getting teamed up with 6 and a half other support mains and no one knows how to push.

when i finally, FINALLY team up with more than 1 dps main, life was beautiful, i’ll keep y’all healed, go deal damage my heathens

one story about my season 6 placement experience under the cut

so i warmed up a bit as mercy and decided to get into comp. i now have the habit of checking my teammates’ mains while starting comp, and at first it was looking bad because some of them only played mercy. (i only later came to remember that it’s still pretty early into season 6, so their most played isnt necessarily their mains.)

so this team? at first, i dont have a very good impression on them. there was a zen, a zarya, someone that kept switching between tank and dps, a soldier and a tracer. but holy shit we ended up holding our defenses pretty well, and quite a while into the game we started chatting. i only used team chat, while some used mic (to be specific, it was the soldier and tracer). but the important thing is that we had communication, which is pretty much a non-existent thing when you’re from the lower ranks (i’m from silver). i’m kinda glad someone took the initiative to keep the team well informed about enemy whereabouts, especially from a dps. it was super duper fun, and i was able to work with them as mercy and kept them healed because they stayed in a group around the payload on dorado. of course tracer and soldier had to flank, but now and then they come back for heals, and actually thanks me for them.

so by the time we switched to attack, we were all chatty, and actually talked things out about how our team composition is going to be. furthermore, the soldier, tracer and i were super enthusiastic about having such a good team, and we just kept caps locking in chat “WE’RE GONNA WIN THIS, BOYS AND GIRLS”.

fast forward to when we had only about a minute left to push (or i might be wrong, we were just panicking that we were so close to the winning checkpoint). things were not looking too good, and our other healer, zen, actually asked if i was okay solo healing. and??? that was the first time anyone ever warned me before switching off healer??? i was so touched by them tbh. and of course i solo healed before in comp, so i was okay with it. the zen then switched to rein.

then towards the end of the game, i duo rezzed and we kept pushing the payload and won the game. we were already sending each other friend requests and grouping up for another game. when someone said to do a 2-2-2 on kings’ row, the tracer from dorado switched to zen, but i told them if they arent doing well as zen, i can solo heal (because i believed in people doing their best, rather than being pressured to play another role they are unfamiliar with, which is something i experienced). they did end up switching back to tracer in the middle of the game, and we won again.

we left after the two games, but it was a very nice experience! i was so happy i got to meet these people and managed to be friends with them. enthusiastic people who communicate with and support each other, and not just in a healing sense.

and i liked to believe i also played a role by breaking the 2-2-2 traditional team comp via encouraging my teammates to play whatever they think is best in contributing towards a win. because remember when i said i checked their stats, and was worried everyone is a support main? what if they were just pushed into a situation where they were forced to play support? the tracer and soldier with me were good flankers, but knew when they had to return to the payload and help with the front lines. they did well as a dps, and people should let them continue to do their best instead of forcing them into a role they are unsuited for.

this is not to say people can switch to whatever they want, though. we need to have a sense of self awareness of our performances in the game. if you are doing poorly, and you keep dying without getting any kills and not contributing at all to the team, it’s a sign you NEED to switch. you say you are practicing, but that is what quick plays are for. if you already practiced, but are still doing poorly? ask yourself this then. are the medals/a POTG or a win (and 10 comp points) more important to you? the whole purpose of competitive is to have a more serious and intense gameplay compared to quickplay, rise up in the ranks and gain recognition (as well as competitive points of course), all the while maintaining good sportsmanship, not your one-trick mains. i myself am trying to branch out to playing other heroes and classes, so i can be more flexible in future team comps.

if you want kills, death match is finally here in the game, you can go there and have fun instead. please let the deserving, sporting players play competitive in peace.

in conclusion. let me be teamed up with more good dps in comp. if we’re doing well, i am completely fine solo healing, because that’s the task im best at while they do theirs to their full potential.

p.s. im also training myself to read into team fights and thinking how to balance out our team so we can counter the enemy team better. if we can’t hold ground, we need one more tank. if we can’t push, we need someone to ult and/or combo. if the team is doing well but the other team is giving too much suppressing fire, we need a second tank. if we still cant push, a second healer, and it’s back to 2-2-2. hoping i can be a decent coordinator when i master this technique.
