If Stede doesn't send the message with a kiss how would Ed know how much he loves him??? Kissing the love letter goodbye is a must!
Besides, it adds dramatic effect (~‾▿‾)~
And we know how much both of them love drama

Various CR characters, the latest of which is Ashton Greymoore: I don't believe in fate
Matthew Mercer, descending directly into the narrative: the interplay of fate and free will is the most consistent culture-spanning theme in the entire universe I built and is set up as the crux of the finale of Campaign 3 so your belief does not actually matter but this is a great character trait for you to have so go off

There’s something so important about Gillion - who never heals himself, who rushes into danger, who hides his wounds- facing death and realizing he isn’t unafraid as he was raised to be. He uses his magic on himself to help with the exhaustion, to keep his life intact. And still he tries to comfort Jay and Chip while he’s coherent, being realistic about his chances but refusing to make it painful. Wanting their possible last moments to be light, to be about seemingly inconsequential things, small favorites that still mean the world to him purely because they’re Chip and Jay’s favorites. And then when all is said and done, he makes a raccoon for Jay. He talks about raspberries for Chip. He uses his last saved up arcane energy to try desperately to stay awake, and it works, and it saves him in the final hour.
It’s just. There’s something about how he hasn’t had a chance to rest since the Feywild, really, truly rest. How this whole time he’s been down on himself and taking extreme risks. And now, at what might be the end of it all, he realizes he doesn’t want to die. He wants to live. And not to be able to save others, not to fulfill his destiny, not out of obligation to anyone else - but purely for himself. For all the little things. And though it’s not quite healing in the literal term, his nearly final act was spent trying to save himself - and it worked.

do you ever also think about the fact that death is the only endless in the comics who doesn't have a speech bubble quirk?
destiny speaks only in italics
Tumblr media
dream has his classic black/white wobbly bubble and a unique font
Tumblr media
destruction's speech bubbles have thicker lines than everyone else
Tumblr media
desire also has a unique font
Tumblr media
despair gets her shaky ripped paper bubbles
Tumblr media
and delirium of course is always psychedelically coloured
Tumblr media
but death just talks like any other human
Tumblr media Tumblr media
because she's the only one of them who's realised that the best way to thrive as an endless is not to hold yourself above mortals, or confine yourself only to your domain - you have to live, to be part of them, because you were always part of them, that's why you exist
and your job is a lot easier to do with them alongside you

Dream is really pulling the whole “I’m death and destiny’s favourite little sibling so watch your mouth” card isn’t he?

guys I'm reading season of mist for the first time and I am LOSING IT at the endless family dynamics already
First of all nobody can convince me Destiny is not the messiest bitch in this or any other plane; sure it's his function but he definitely called the family meeting in a way that would be most interesting for him specifically. He has one book, entertainment options are limited
then you have desire, whom upon experiencing a .3 second lull in conversation immediately unfurled their "dream's biggest mistakes: greatest hits" list they keep with them at all times as is their divine right as a younger sibling
which brings us to our favorite edgelord fucking drama king Dream of the endless storming off and going "everyone else is being so mean! Death, do YOU think me throwing my ex-girlfriend into hell was maybe not cool?" with the air of a teenager who's just been informed it's a dick move to break up over text message
And then death, A FULL TEN THOUSAND YEARS AFTER THE FACT: "I mean yeah we didn't want to bring it up, you seemed upset, but hurling your ex into a dimension of eternal punishment for rejecting you is shall we say not an approved Good Breakup Strategy"
This comic is incredible I love these chaotic unhinged deeply mentally unwell anthropomorphic personifications with my entire soul

Round 1, Match 11
The Endless - Destiny, Death, Dream, Destruction, Desire, Despair and Delirium (The Sandman) vs Lark and Sparrow Oak-Garcia (Dungeons and Daddies)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Lark and Sparrow art by @sapphickx)
Propaganda under break. Spoilers for Dungeons and Daddies Season 1
The Endless - Destiny, Death, Dream, Destruction, Desire, Despair and Delirium
They are petty, selfish, backstabbing, and generally awful to one another. Particularly Desire and Dream
Lark and Sparrow Oak-Garcia
They kinda sorta summoned an eldritch horror by literally stabbing their father in the back.

listen, as someone with a horribly complicated relationship with both of my parents? pinocchio's journey has got me fucked up.
to a child, an angry parent can be this terrifying entity that influences everything you do. even when they're not physically present, because you're afraid that they will find out you did something they wouldn't approve of. they always find out. and they will take it out on you and anyone they feel is also at fault. from this, you learn a deep and unsettling fear.
but the other parent? the one some would naturally assume is nurturing and a source of strength? that's all wrong. they may be nicer. they may speak to you softly because they know you are something fragile. but they don't pick up the pieces. they look at the pieces on the floor and tell you that you should have known better - that you brought this upon yourself. you know the rules, and you are not to bend or break them no matter the context. the difference is, they hold your hand or offer a warm hug as they tell you that you are the one that needs to change.
to these parents, there is only absolute right and absolute wrong. and if you are not absolutely right, by their definition you are absolutely wrong. and should be punished as they see fit.
pinocchio is being forced to learn as a child what took me over two decades to learn. both of these parents are just people. they have their own tragedies that made them this way. and they chose to become your tragedy. you can chose to love them or forgive them or leave them, but first you have to learn how to take away their power over you.
pinocchio cut his own strings.
pinocchio chose a life different than what his father wanted for him - expected of him.
and it's sad, because we all want pinocchio to have the ability to become a real boy. a part of him still wants it. but he gave it up to save his father, who will likely be disappointed (at least to start.) he gave it up to take away even a portion of his stepmother's power. he has given up his happily ever after. these are sad things.
but what really hits home is that he has now given up his mortality in a story that is teaching us endings are what give life meaning. he has given up any ending. he has given up any meaning to the lessons that he has been forced to learn. so what was all of his suffering for? he gets to save a world that has been very cruel to him, and I hope ensuring that the people he cares about get to have an ending is enough for him - at least for a little while

I think what aggravates me about the Narrator, and choosing to side with him, is that he wants to destroy chang in its entirety to stop death. I would be no more forgiving if he only asked me to stop death, but I could go through with it. I could listen, because who doesn't fear death? An ever looming finish line that we can never predict. But...death is so much more. Death feeds life, rot gives way to growth. There is beauty in that which we find terrifying. That's why I fell in love with Slay the Princess as quickly as I did. I wouldn't enjoy it, it would hurt so much, but I could kill death. Change, though? Never. Change is so much more than death, it is life, the beat of a new heart, the growth of a sapling, the glow of the sun, and the reason we all exist. Change is terrifying in the same way death is, but its always happening, whether you're aware of it or not. Our very movement, our ability to think and feel and taste and hear and eat are change. Killing the Shifting Mound, Change itself, ends the world just as much as letting her continue on, setting her will. But killing her ends it in an instant. Setting her free makes it an eventuality.

Yes I'm fully aware that Crow might die and/or become a sacrificial lamb of sorts. No I'm not indulging the idea bc I've already lost Rasputin and Amanda, and I'm Tired™ enough to throw hands with people irl.

guys I'm so insane about the new cutscene you don't UNDERSTAND. It answers so many questions about the Witness's motivation and really what it IS. The Witness, above all else, wants to find purpose and meaning in an otherwise purposeless and meaningless universe. It wants a single answer. Simplicity in a universe of complexity.
But we all know that's impossible! Throughout the entire story of destiny we've been told that nothing is ever simple. The fact that life exists means that everything will always be complex, and that's why the Witness doesn't want life to exist as it is anymore. Its species literally fused itself together into one being to achieve this goal, in the process making itself simpler.
In the end, it comes down to the conflict destiny has always been about. Sword logic vs. Bomb logic. freedom of choice vs. the lack of it. Simplicity vs. complexity.

Random AU idea that’s been percolating slowly in my head, but loose Once Upon A Time AU?
Tumblr media
Basic idea is Lyta doesn’t give up on trying to get Daniel back at the end of Sandman, but goes even further hardcore and breaks into the garden of Destiny and straight up takes him on and thru some sort of magic + heartbroken madness+ righteous fury takes his book and rewrites her story to get Daniel back.
But beyond that Lyta wants all these beings that hold themselves so high to know the true pain their actions can inflict on mortals, and uses the books power to flips all the Endless out into the world as Humans with no memory of their past lives—and brings Morpheus back with them.
And now they’re all living miserable lives that have some sort of link to their function but in a way that makes them miserable but they can’t seem to break away from (like, Death is a doctor but always seems to lose the patients she gets close too? Desire is out there being ignored and never wanted by anyone and is separated from Despair, ect. Sorry it’s been a crappy couple weeks so my brain is shot for ideas on this exact part 😅)
There is one hiccup in this—Daniel, back to being a little boy, still has a connection to the Dreaming, and manages one night to bring the book The Sandman back with him from the Library. It’s not the full book, he doesn’t know his and Morpheus’s canon fates but between the book and his odd dreams he knows something has gone wrong with reality and the Endless and that he needs to find the Dream King and put things right with the world.
So he manages to find Morpheus and now has to convince him he’s the Dream King and his estranged siblings are the Endless and they have to find their sigils that have been scattered in the Real World to fix things.
Neither of them realize at first what putting things back to how they were will mean for them both, but eventually they do and are faced with the dilemma of fixing the world meaning Morpheus dying and Daniel losing his individuality/family (Lyta is not evil btw just really really scared to lose her kid and desperate to stop this Murphy guy who seems to be threatening her life) and trying to find a way to fix things without ending it the same way.
And Hob’s here somewhere too but I’m not sure which part I’d want him to take? Maybe he’s the Charming stand in to Dream’s combined Snow White role and he’s in a coma cuz he was dreaming of Morpheus when Lyta rewrote reality and it scrambled his brain? So he’s kicking around in the Dreaming trying to fix th8ngs from that side too/keep the kingdom from crumbling again?
(Destruction is probably also out there still as himself and can still remember the old reality)
((Tempted to have the Corinthian in a Hook-ish role and have it be a Hobrintheus AU))
Honestly this whole thing happened due to listening to this fan song while thinking about Sandman and it all scrambled in my head and poof xD
youtube
For reference to how the song AMV’d into my head: Daniel =Emma’s part, Hob and Dream = Snow and Charming’s part, Lyta= Regina’s part, Corinthian =Hook part and really don’t have a Rumplestiltskin part😅 Loki maybe? Oh! Maybe he as vengeance for Dream sending the Corinthian after him tells Lyta how to screw with Destiny’s book? With her not realizing he was the one who even stole Daniel in the first place oooh I like that it makes Corinthian as Hook work even better yeah!
(If anyone wants to do anything with this please feel free !)
