Chapter 5: Meeting You
Narrated by Loen.
Narrator: The glimmer of dawn, the white feathers, and swan-like dancing shoes.
Narrator:They represented the beauty I found in Miraland.
Narrator: They represented my luck and commemorated my meeting with them.
Narrator: And of course, our encounter.
Choose either “Me?” or “I’m very lucky, too.”
If “me,” ...
You: Our encounter?
Narrator: Yeah, you. Are you surprised?
If “lucky,” ...
You: I’m lucky to meet you as well.
--
Narrator: You’re very interesting and curious.
Narrator: I like your curiosity, and I often think I want to show you many beautiful things in Miraland.
Narrator: To see the sunrise, to taste mellow wine, to watch the sunset in NInir, to see the vast grasslands and running antelopes.
Narrator: It will be interesting to see how you react.
Narrator: I want you to see how all these stories might end... Let’s guess what happens to the protagonists.
Narrator: I think Mok can become a famous designer in Lodden.
Choose either “I don’t think that would work” or “I think that would work.”
If “no,” ...
You: Him? Really?
Narrator: Of course, it is also possible he will stay in Lodden for a year or two and then return to his hometown.
If “yes,” ...
You: Maybe Little Mok really can become a great designer!
Narrator: I think so, too.
--
Narrator: When more than a hundred letters have been mailed, the longest one from the old mercenary would be a final farewell.
Choose either “There will be tears, for sure” or “Maybe the client will have his own life.”
If “tears,” ...
You: If I had received the letter, I would certainly cry.
Narrator: Yeah, cry if you want to, it’s not embarrassing.
Narrator: The sun is still warm even if you cry.
If “life,” ...
You: The client may already have a life of his own before getting the letter.
Narrator: Maybe that’s what the old mercenary was looking forward to.
--
Narrator: Maybe one day, the little girl who can’t hear will be able to perform onstage for many grand theaters.
Choose either “There are stages like this on our world” or “She probably never danced onstage again.”
If “stages,” ...
You: There are such dancers in the world, and they’ve shone on the best stages.
Narrator: Really? Tell me about them later.
Narrator: We can write a letter to that girl, don’t you think?
If “never,” ...
You: Or maybe she never takes the stage again.
Narrator: At least she was shining in that dusk.
--
Narrator: Of course, there are more stories like those...
Narrator: If I can, I’d like to sit down and tell you them one by one.
Narrator: Till the warm dusk.
Narrator: Then again, this wine is so good that I already feel a little drunk.
Narrator: This white dance dress is my gift for you.
Narrator: Of course, this is not the whole story of Miraland, and I don’t want you to avoid those dark stories.
Narrator: When there’s coldness, there’s warmth. When there’s night, there’s dawn.
Narrator: Witnessing the night may allow you to see the truth of this world and find answers from the bottom of your heart.
Narrator: In the future, you may still be in danger, feel pain, or even wait for the dawn in a long night.
Narrator: I hope you remember these good moments in Miraland. They’re the treasures that support me. I hope they help you move forward.
Narrator: Do you like this gift?
Narrator: So now, under the beautiful night sky...
Narrator: Would you like to dance with me?

Hearie Ignorance | Explained
Tumblr media
Deafie is a deaf person.
Hearie is a hearing person.
To pick on the (slang) language of the deaf culture is the same as making fun of a cripple for calling a wheelchair a wheelie.
Fuckies are assholes who need to fuck off.

Is gator gals tail sensitive?? It looks so pillow worthy...
Tumblr media
what if tail pillow ... 😳 apparently crocodilians, despite having thick skin and scales, are pretty sensitive to touch! i won't go into detail, but look it up if you're interested. to tie into that, a gator-human hybrid would be more sensitive than a human being. mostly to pressure on the scale areas (scales being like armour, so it wouldn't feel like having your skin touched) and sensitive elsewhere but especially the face (and underside of tail)
tl;dr if you grabbed her tail she would squirm

A far better version of my thoughts on how GCs recruit young people to their hate cult.
I’m not gonna be nice. It’s basically a cult now.
Young queer/LGBT girls, the leaders are working with the Heritage Foundation. They’re not just gonna turn on you, they want all AFABs to be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.

MARAUDERS GIRLS HCS!!
lily evans is a vegetarian; the idea of eating something that once lived makes her feel sick.
mary macdonald always wears colour coordinated outfits, there’s always that perfectly equal amount of colour and the colours always go together perfectly.
marlene mckinnon is a bedtime procrastinator, she rarely goes to bed on time.
mary 100% does pre-shower makeup and has been walked on multiple times whilst doing so (she tries to hide in the bathroom but marlene has a weak ass bladder so sometimes barges their way in lmao).
mary is the worst for education related procrastination (so real).
dorcas meadows has a variety of hair beads and will always match them with her outfits. bonus: marlene finds the way her beaded braids sway mesmerising.
lily loves pink but hates pink clothes.
mary is aromantic. she thought crushes were just people you randomly selected and has way too much fun pretending to romantically like people whom she actually just thinks are fit.
lily is demiromantic and has never understood hallway crushes
dorcas is partially deaf and is fluent in sign language (she wears pretty green hearing aids).
in third year, pandora actually frequents the hospital wing more than remus. it’s mostly because of all her experiments. progressively, the visits lessen as her experiments grow more and more successful (doesn’t stay that way..)
firm believer that pandora was a conspiracy theorist and disliked the usage of wands because she thought they were made to limit power. she began learning wandless magic in her free time.
lily was fucking powerful and a brilliant witch, but struggled heavily with the cultural aspects of the wizarding world because she was muggleborn. therefore, she started a casual tutor session for first year muggleborns so that they could get to grips with this new world and all it’s practices.
she/they marlene mckinnon supremacy!!
pandora was a ravenclaw and i refuse to accept the hc that she was a slytherin, it doesn’t fit with my idea of her character.
pandora is incredibly unorganised so dorcas made her a lil schedule <3. for the larger part, it was to help, but it was also for dorcas’ sanity.
adding onto that, ocd!dorcas. i feel like she’s so passionately against blood supremacy that she sometimes has intrusive thoughts in relation to it. plus, she loves the tidy and perfectly planned lifestyle because it gives her a sense of control and balance. marlene’s chaotic, careless personality was actually a massive factor in their whole enemies to lovers thing but she actually ended up being a big support for dorcas because they were always willing to help ease her irrational worries and fears.

Chapter 4: Monologue in Dusk
Narrated by Loen.
~Content Warning: ableism against deaf people~
Narrator: It was about then that I decided to use a design to record the stories I saw during the trip.
Narrator: Morning’s light on soft blond hair, commemorating a dawn of youth. White feathers, returning to the gentle, lonely afternoon.
You: It turns out you have an intricate mind.
Narrator: I’m always like this, haven’t you noticed?
Narrator: I’ve seen too many grand farewells on the battlefield, so I pay close attention to ordinary happiness.
Narrator: But is that the answer I’ve been looking for? Is this correct?
Narrator: Before confirming this, I went to Ninir.
Narrator: It is a fairytale kingdom. The town is fluttering with sweetness, mixed with the fragrance of flowers.
Narrator: When I was looking for my next commission, I saw a little girl in a white dress. She was up against a window, looking in.
Narrator: When I was curious, a person came out of the room and pulled her aside.
Dancer: Huh? Why are you here again?! Didn’t I tell you it’s impossible to learn how to dance if you’re deaf?
Narrator: The little girl looked confused, staring at the dancer’s mouth and trying to read her lips.
Dancer: I forgot, you can’t hear me...
Dancer: Anyway, get out of here! Don’t waste your time!
Narrator: The dancer asked her to go home quickly.
Narrator: In the light, the little girl looked blankly at the dancer, but she said nothing and smiled apologetically.
Narrator: The dancer sighed, struggled with sign language, and talked loudly...
Dancer: People who can’t hear can’t dance!
Narrator: The little girl lowered her eyes and kicked the pebbles awkwardly with her toes.
Narrator: As soon as the bell rang, the girls who had finished ballet class filed out and made passing remarks.
Ballerina A: Why is she here again?
Ballerina B: How can you dance if you can’t even hear the music?
Ballerina C: What a pity...
Narrator: The little girl blinked a little. She couldn’t hear but I guess she understood everything.
Narrator: I followed her and wanted to see she got home safely.
Narrator: So, want to guess where she went?
Choose either “I don’t know, “She went dancing,” or “She went home.”
If “don’t know,” ...
You: How would I know?
Narrator: I’m sure you can guess what happens when a person feels sad and doesn’t want to go home...
You: Secret base?
Narrator: Yes, it must be her secret base.
If “dancing,” ...
You: She still wants to try, I guess? Dancing.
Narrator: That’s right. That’s a good guess.
If “home,” ...
You: If it were me, I’d go home.
Narrator: But she didn’t go home. She had another place to calm herself.
--
Narrator: She came to the middle of a meadow, took off her shoes, and posed gracefully.
Narrator: It was dusk, and crimson clouds covered the sky. She was wearing a snow-white dress, looking like the prettiest sun.
Narrator: In the breeze, her eyes closed slightly, her hair danced freely, her bare feet and straight neck were elegant like a swan.
Narrator: There was no stage, no music, and she was spinning and dancing in the sunset that stretched to the ends of the sky.
Narrator: One foot pointed, the other slowly but firmly lifted in the twilight...
Narrator: Everything was gone. Only the dusk and a dancing shadow. She didn’t need an audience or lights, as she smiled in her own world.
Choose either “So pretty” or “Did you talk to her?”
If “pretty,” ...
You: It was really beautiful.
Narrator: Yeah.
Narrator: Once you’ve seen it, you will never be willing to forget it.
If “talk,” ...
You: Did you come out and talk to her?
Narrator: Wouldn’t it be scary if a suspicious mercenary suddenly appeared from the bushes?
Narrator: I didn’t disturb her. I left quietly after watching the show.
--
Narrator: Later, I designed this pair of pure white dance shoes to commemorate the monologue in the dusk.

I went into some tags for Griselda Netflix and saw somebody refer to the show as "girlbossification" which is really bizarre given that the mc explicitly lies, manipulates, harms others and sucks people down into a toxic vortex around her. In the episode I just watched she pulled a gun on her party guests and made one strip naked and bark like a dog and two others have sex with each other in front of her. I do not think she is being portrayed as a girl boss I think you are just totally unequipped to interpret a female antihero and feel the need to apologize for watching something that centers a woman who isn't perfect, relatable, or even baseline morally good. Truly like grow up

Contemplating going back to grad school but my farsightedness is so severe that even with reading glasses, I would need some of the accommodations for visually impaired students--large-print books, audio "narration" software for assigned texts in PDF format, that sort of thing. My glasses work less well with computer screens; I'm not sure why, maybe they need a blue light filter or something. The problem is that I'd be reading texts in three or more languages, which use three or more alphabets, and that's a lot of highly specialized software. I'm also dyslexic, which makes reading archival documents EXTREMELY difficult in conjunction with my vision. I would need a LOT of help, and I'm not sure any department would be willing to provide it

Deaf Character Featured in Newly Licensed Yuri Manga 'The Moon on a Rainy Night'
On Sunday at Anime NYC, Kodansha USA announced that it will publish Kuzushiro's romance manga The Moon on a Rainy Night (Amayo no Tsuki) in English. The manga is notable for featuring a deaf character, Kanon, in its central Yuri storyline.
Tumblr media
The publisher describes the manga:
One day, while rushing to a piano lesson, a girl named Saki collides with someone on the street. As Saki collects herself, the stranger picks up the sheet music Saki dropped, hands it to Saki together with a band-aid, and continues on her way-all without saying a word. Saki is left wondering about the identity of the tall, lovely stranger, only to discover the next day that she is one of her classmates at her new high school. The girl's name is Kanon, and though she is hearing impaired, she refuses any kind of support or "special treatment" from her teachers or classmates. Over the course of the year, Saki slowly grows closer to Kanon and begins to chip away at her cold exterior.
Tumblr media
The Moon on a Rainy Night has received mostly positive reviews from critics and audiences. Erica Friedman of Okazu gave the first volume an 8/10 score, praising Kuzushiro's signature artwork and the way the manga "neither fetishizes nor romanticizes deafness." However, she criticized some elements of the story, like the early chapters pacing and the bully characters. The first Japanese volume holds a perfect five-star rating on Amazon with 348 reviews.
The manga began serialization in June 2021 on Comic Days, with new chapters releasing every other week. It is one of several LGBTQ+ works serialized on the platform, alongside Keito Gaku's Boys Run the Riot, Asuka Miyazaki's X-Gender, and Koyubi Sugawara's My Idol Sits the Next Desk Over! Kodansha publishes three volumes of the manga in Japanese.
Tumblr media
Kuzushiro is a Japanese mangaka known for her Yuri series, including Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san, Love Death., and Living With My Brother's Wife, which is published in English on Square Enix's Manga Up! app.
The first volume of The Moon on a Rainy Night will be released in English in the Fall of 2023.
