Can I point out, not four days ago you accused me of being a serial killer, I’m justified in not grasping that you wanted me to sit with you for lunch. - El

sorta spoiler for scholomance but i finished the scholomance trilogy(?) today and ughhhh it nearly filled the void harry potter had given me. i loved it. where is scholomance tumblr i need it immediately i'm so conflicted by el x orion & el x liesel cuz orion is cute but i wasn't attached to him as much as the first two books. liesel and el surprised me, confused me (cuz el was literally like dreaming abt orion within hours), and made me so happy because yay casual bi/pan characters!
anyways i rly liked it

"Those turned out to be just the usual foreword bits like offering acknowledgments and thanks to various important patrons—in this case senior wizards at the enclave—and talking about how hard it had been to make a precise copy." -- Deadly Education, Scholomance book 1 by Naomi Novik, page 166
You can always tell when an author has worked in academia

My kingdom for Naomi Novik to write a book of just alternate POVs of the scholomance series because my god how terrifying and confusing must the final graduation seemed from the outside?
You’re there to hopefully (please, please please) pick up your kid and then a bunch of toddlers pop out through the gate and there’s a song and you are surrounded by Mals, all of them rushing past you to the gate that your kid hasn’t come out of yet. I would lose my goddamn mind.

first: spoiler warning for deadly eduction
second:sorry no ik no one follows spoiler warnings
third: I reallly reallllly want to talk about the parallels between the enclaves and “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas” by Ursula K Le Guin. In the ones who walk away Omelas is some wonderful city of like joy and shit and like in scholomance the enclaves are that more or less but like the important part is it’s based on the endless suffering of an innocent, a child and like. *vigorous pointing gestures* it’s the thing, they are the innocents and like I don’t know why I care this much it really doesn’t make a difference to what you get out of it but like *pointing gesture again*

Galadriel? In Lord of the Rings? Is that the movie with the hobbits? I’ve never seen that. Is that where your name is from? - Liu

Maybe I just consumed too much "snarky dark protagonist goes to magical school and meets the nice love interest, who is strangely good at murder" media in 2022.

Okay but inversely to witch x Prince, what about witch x hero
The greatest witch of all time, the most evil and gruesome despite to dark magic and the hero who’s slaved away their entire life to be the person that ends them…only to cross the most, burn through the forest, and land inside the castle to find the witch in an oversized cardigan flipping through a book with their wand.
“As you can see, the rumors are grossly exaggerated.”

I need need NEED to read new books. However! I never did finish the Scholarmance series, which means
I get to reread the first two so I can read the last one.
This is a carefully maintained plan to both read books I love very much over and over again while still reading new books I will in turn fall completely in love with so I can reread it in a few months.
Imma genius.
