WARNING: This is not a joke post, even though it's absurd and weirdly hilarious in its own right.

I don't know how to feel about the fact that my father keeps e-mailing me short stories and prose pieces he writes while absolutely shitfaced from weed and alcohol.

This would probably be funny for any normal person, and it is, to some extent. However, this man is highly educated, vain, and utterly contemptible. He is the primary reason why my family is dysfunctional and why I suffer from numerous mental health problems. This is a man who used to go around the city, wearing fancy suits, driving expensive cars, and sleeping around with as many women as possible while my mom, sister, and I suffered. He was a complete alcoholic ass with a "holier than thou" attitude, sarcastic as all hell, and insufferable to be around. His only saving grace is that he's that "charmer" type who knows how to woo ladies and make people laugh, but what good is it really when put up against all the trauma we had to endure as a family?

Yet, it's so damn weird seeing him in this state, twenty-odd some years later, completely devolved or something. I don't know. He was already batshit insane, but now he's completely off the rails crazy. One of the e-mails he sent me was about 60+ y/o men doing crossword puzzles. He responded to my e-mail request with "Me no dodo do."

I'm 100% sure all those drugs and alcohol completely scorched his brain, but it's so weird... Like how is this the same man? It's really, really strange.

I do not hold any lasting contempt like I once did since I went through years of therapy, but it's hard to just be nice to him after all the fucking crap he put our family through.

And don't get me wrong: he isn't some scrambling mess huffing coke off the floor. He still tries to look like some hotshot, but he's fucking completely gone off the rails. I hope whoever the hell that woman he's staying with can put up with his madness because it's bad enough getting short stories about my great-grandmother fart rocketing through the NYC Subway and reading a rhyming poem praising cucumbers.
