You know, there's a thing with characters that foil each other and serve as the "good" and "bad" respectively (Toga/Himiko, Tenko/Izuku, Nagito/Hajime, Ryoko/Hajime, Atsushi/Akutagawa) but that trope felt rather annoying to write, especially in the world I am trying to write about (ALTERNATIVE's world is basically MHA X BSD but like. 1000 times more fucked up and the Specialised are always prejudiced against. A terrible lot).

The title itself, ALTERNATIVE is to symbolise Romila's POV of "infinite choices and paths present for every being" and how she starts off the story with a decisive line of,

"Many people ask me if this could have been avoided. They beg for me to tell them that things could have been better. There are others too, who try to justify that this was the only way for things to have been. If you ask me, both are living in states of denial. One can't accept the stupidity of humanity for disregarding common sense for violence and prejudices. Another can't accept humanity's choice for having better circumstances if the one with the power chose to."

The thing is, the running theme is that the story is a bittersweet one, despite there not being many deaths of the main characters, but there was always a junction where you can see it could have been avoided, that there was an "alternative" for things to have gotten better, especially in the first book.

Another reason for the title is that it's basically an "ALTERNATIVE" to this world of ours, where super powers and stuff like those exist.

The subtitles of both the books (Myriad of Colours, Colour of Death) signifies Romila's power, "Aura Tracker" which lets her view people's aura as colours (Myriad of Colours is to signify the different kinds of people she meets, Colour of Death is about what affects her the most (death) and how she's constantly seeing that colour everywhere, especially now that it's war).

The thing about ALTERNATIVES is that Romila could have chosen to be a doormat (like Koldin tends to be at the beginning (his rp self is like THAT due to circumstances different to ALTERNATIVE's actual storyline. Also because Hack's a nicer person to be around than Romila is) in order to nOt hAvE cOnFliCt™) to not get into conflict and put up a super nice persona for people but she didn't. She decided to focus on hanging onto her reasons for doing what she does and using it to create a caustic personality to shield herself because she knows that she will regret being a doormat (Her Despair takes the form of Koldin Hopkins).

Now Koldin could have certainly put his hatred for society at the forefront and taken a caustic personality but instead chooses to be nice. Because he doesn't want to become as hurtful as the rest, that's how he wants to disentangle himself from society. However he, like Romila (who just took standing up for herself to extremes), takes this to the extremes causing him to gain the personality of a nice boy™.

However this also goes into why they made the choices they did (which is what Romila realises during the Mansion of Death arc), because for Romila, she didn't really have the psychology for actually becoming a doormat (because a) Her mom wouldn't have it b) She hated to be called weak c) She didn't have anyone to fall back to after the inevitable consequences of being a doormat d) She felt that if she were to live with monsters, then it's easier to blend in by being one (this comes useful to her when she infiltrates into the Government) e) She saw doormats getting suicidal which frightened her) or not becoming fully caustic (since her standing up for herself wasn't. Liked. By. Anyone. And seen as aggressive and she basically went, "Well if they see me as bad, I will show them BAD" which led to her breakdown causing the incidents at the Mansion Of Death (especially a twisted hatred against Koldin for extremely understandable reasons).

For Koldin, being meek and peaceful had let him get by in the streets and his skills to difuse fights had come in handy. Later when Dr. Hopkins took him in, he was well. A member of the Radicals who were known to be extremely merciless towards the Specialised (he had defected but Koldin had a REALLY good reason to be wary) so he figured if he stayed nice, he wouldn't be kicked out of the house and Dr. Hopkins being Dr. Hopkins just assumed that it was his normal and that behaviour carried into school. He figured that it was a horrifying thing to be aggressive and then saw how Romila got treated and decided that yep, he was right, that confirmed his world view alright and it was more reason to be super nice. While Romila saw Koldin as a person who everyone took advantage of (a thing she hated. To be exploited just like that) and went, yep that confirmed hers and it was more reason to be super angry.

However the thing is that, Romila was chided for being anything, which caused her to just give up to be peaceful (because what would she do? Anything she tried to do got her scolded) while Koldin (thankfully) found a support system. It really goes to show the difference a good friend can do.....

As it is, when I first began writing this, the most obvious choice presented itself to me. Koldin is the "hope" and Romila is the "despair" (on the protagonist, deutergonist side) but that seemed stupid and boring as it wouldn't make sense. Since I am trying to make a point of showing with how Romila's world view gradually changes from "there are wrong and right choices" to the fact that it doesn't have to be rigid and that *now* she wouldn't be hurt if she used what her vulnerable side wanted (a world free of prejudices and unnecessary cruelty) with the talents she had. That kindness mixed with her usual personality won't literally kill her.

And for Koldin, being a doormat means that he got taken advantage of a lot by different people and since he refused to actually stand up for himself ("Ah...aha......it seems that I can't..." "Can't what?" "Feel angry for myself......it's always anger that comes from the ones I love being hurt" "Then love yourself too, you will feel angry again" ~ Koldin's conversation with his inverted self in the Labyrinth) he got. Taken advantage of. By virtually everyone. However he decided that if being nice would keep him keep his self and his name self then it would be fine. He did not want to be the source of grief (his actual parents tossed him out because of his Specialisation). The Mansion Of Death actually causes him to snap for that reason, because Romila literally puts him in a torture dream "for the greater good" and then proceeds to kill his dear friend. One thing Koldin HATED. Killing friends. (Due to them being run over by a car, which led to his paralysed left arm)

Now on the other side, their respective friends:

Romila:

Luja: Cynical and annoyed by people's stupidity but not to caustic extents and she wants to be a scientist and isn't haunted by the possibility of dying.

Kratanos: Full of anger and hatred against the world but not entirely blinded by it and is focused to using that anger for reformation of the world (she becomes a therapist later, to help people)

They both have her caustic parts but they also let themselves embrace another side which makes them her "balance".

Koldin:

Anand: Believes that there's no requirement for violence unless it's absolutely necessary.

Karishma: Figures it's a better idea to just listen to rules but doesn't hesitate to break them if she sees that they are bs

They both have his peacefulness, but don't hesitate to do what they think they should do, which makes them his "balance".

The point is that, the case of choosing alternatives isn't possible with a tunnel vision. Even so, there are choices that literally can't be made due to the individual and circumstances. Sometimes the choice is to choose more than one choice. Well, that's one dramatic storyline......

It reminds me of DDLC side stories since everyone has a bit of the other person's solutions and more of a opposite personality (don't take this the wrong way, there are many stories like that and it's honestly a favourite to think abt but it's just that DDLC does it well especially since it's only a school environment). Tbh, I like dramatic storylines that rlly dig deep into a character's perspective (reasons why I'm in love with Hack and Axel in particular). My whole thing is that I'd rather read a story with interesting and in depth characters than one where only the plot is good so I say you made the great call of the century with Koldin and Romila's characters.

What you thought before getting into it is rlly how every great character arc starts. You focus on one, somewhat forget the other one until you review every single character for inspiration and then BAM! PARALLELS! It's really admirable how, even in this messed up world of specializations, you didn't purely focus on the plot bc it honestly sounds interesting enough to just stick around for Romila's life and journey. You could have ended it all with just that, but no, you smacked Koldin in there and said "be my interesting on par character that can kick Romila's gut" and IT WORKED SPECTACULARLY!!!

I really love ur writing and hoping to one day read (and maybe print out) every story you've ever written bc GODDAMNIT I NEED THE FEELING OF THOSE WORDS ON WORN PAPER WITH AN ARTISTIC COVER AND AN AMAZINGLY HEAVY WEIGHT

Aka, paperback. Bc that's how I like to roll and that's how good I think it is. 1000% worthy of a bestseller

A/N: aaaaaaahhhhhhhh this bitch is lllllooooonnnnnggggg. So much talking tooo which means harder to add colorrrrr. Ahhhhhh. (By the way I try to stick to the script of DDLC as much as possible so most of the stuff in this chapter is a redone script of the game. This is a warning and you will see why I said this when you get to that place. It gets a little weird. No lie it hurt to write some of these scenes :,) Just know that Sayori is my favorite character in the original game.)

Chapter 9- Hari’s Visit & The Confession

Continue the last chapter

Once you walk home from Dabi’s house you see Hari standing at the front gate. A moment of panic washes over you.

“Hari?”

“Ah...thank goodness.”

“You’re a little early...sorry I wasn’t home yet. I hope you weren’t waiting a long time...”

“No, I just got here. But I started to get really nervous when nobody answered the door bell.”

“Hari you could’ve always just texted me. If I had known I would’ve hurried to get here quicker.”

“Ah...I suppose that’s true...I truly didn’t think of that...for some reason..”

“I see you brought a lot of stuff with you.”

“That’s right. And did you manage to find everything I asked you to buy as well?”

“Yeah pretty much. At least I hope I got everything right.”

“I’m sure it’ll be fine.” You and Hari walk into your home and go upstairs into your room. The first thing he does is glance around your room which makes you feel a bit anxious.

“It’s so clean...”

“Ahaha...I cleaned it before you came over so..”

“That’s very considerate of you to do so.”

“Ah no. I would be really embarrassed for my room to be such a mess while you were here.”

“Hmm...well I do enjoy cleaning. If you needed me I would have gladly helped you clean.”

“Ah! That would be even more embarrassing! Wait, don’t look in there-” He reaches for a drawer connected to your desk. Before he could open it you grabbed his hand.

“A-ah! I’m sorry!....I was just no thinking for some reason! I was just spacing out..!” Hari turns his head to look at an opposite side of the room. he grabbed a piece of his hair and rubbed it in between his hands.

“It’s okay, it’s okay.” You laugh nervously as you let go of his hand. He then puts both hands in his lap as he sits on your bed as if he’s making sure he’s keeping track of them.

“So should we get things started?”

“A-ah..yes. I have a few things planned that you can help with...decorations and other atmospheric enhancements.”

“Atmospheric enhancements?”

“You know...mood lighting, aromatherapy candles.”

“Oh wow. You really went all out for this huh?”

“Of course! I want to help make take our guest to a faraway place. Although many will stop by out of curiosity. And for cupcakes I guess. I’m determined to provide them an experience that will leave them wanting more!” You kept help but notice the excitement in Hari’s voice. It makes you smile knowing that he’s slowly coming out of that shell of his.

“That’s great! Sometimes it’s easy to forget that you’re a pretty intense person.”

“Ah-...intense?” Hari looks at you with a bit of a worried expression. You quickly pick your mind to try and tell him that’s not what you meant.

“I guess that’s the best way to put it..”

“Is that...a bad thing?”

“No! No! Not at all! It’s something that I like about you actually.”

“I-is that so? That actually makes me feel quite relieved and kinda happy.”

“Yeah, no need to be anxious. You can relax a little.”

“Relax. I brought some things for relaxation. I was going to use them during the poetry event.”

“Really? What you got?” A small smile made its way to Hari’s face. As he opened up a bag.

“Let’s see.” He moves stuff around the bag. He pulls out a few candles and a wooden cylinder shaped object.

“I actually did some shopping on the way here, so I happen to have these in my bag. I planned to cover the windows in black paper and use the candles to lighten the room. I think that would be really amazing, don’t you?”

“Yeah! That sounds awesome! One question though, may I know what that wooden thing is?”

“Oh, this? It’s just a diffuser for essential oils. How familiar are you with aromatherapy?”

“Never heard of it in my life until you told me just now.” You laugh and Hari lets out a chuckle too.

“Is that so? It’s one of my favorite contributors to a positive atmosphere. Depending on the oils or herbs you use, you can change the mood of the air itself. Relaxation, positive energy, romance, reflection. It almost feels like magic.” Hari plugs it in and presses a button on the bottom. In just a moment, a thin ray of vapor begins to shoot through a small hole on the top.

“Wow, that actually smells really nice. What kind of mood is this one for?”

“This one is jasmine essentials oil. It smells sweet and flowery right?”

“Yeah, that’s a good way to describe it.”

“I chose jasmine for the event because it provides more than relaxation. Jasmine also enhances your emotions and helps you feel them flow through your body. You feel warmer and your heart pounds more heavily. I think it would be the perfect scent for when we share our poems.”

“It does sound suitable for the occasion. And since you know more about me about this, I’m going to trust your opinion on it.” Hari smiles gently. Clearly enjoying himself. He then reaches into her bag and pulls out many spools of thin ribbon.

“What are those for?”

“Well did you purchase the origami paper I asked you to get?”

“Oh yeah, I have it over here.”

“We won’t be using the paper to fold origami, but what I would like to do is write a different word on each piece of paper. We’ll need about a hundred of them.”

“Oh yeah? What will those be used for? Sorry for asking so much I’m just really curious about what you have planned!” You smile at him causing Hari’s cheeks to go a bit pink.

“It’s okay. Well, what I was going to do is cut pieces of ribbon to hang from the doorway of the classroom. Then. we can fasten the paper on the ribbons to create a doorway curtain. Wouldn’t that be cool? It would catch the eye of those passing by the room..it may attract some to peek inside.”

“That’s actually really creative! Dang Hari I mean I knew you were creative but jeez!” You laugh smiling at him once more. He sends a smile right back at you.

“I-is..that so? Well, I do get a little intense..as you put it. Ahaha.” Hari laughed with red cheeks. It seems like he’s much more relaxed when it’s just the two of you guys. Or it could be the excitement from sharing something he enjoys.

“Here’s a marker (y/n). You can write whatever word you want. I’ll help you once I finish cutting the ribbons.” Sitting on the floor together the two of you guys start to work. You carefully write each word carefully as to not mess it up with your terrible handwriting. You look over at Hari who unravels a long strand of red ribbon to his desired length. You glance over at him and notice the tan sweater he’s wearing.

“I really like your sweater. Where did you get it?” Hari stops rummaging through his bag before looking at you with flushed cheeks.

“O-oh I got it at (R/S).” He stutters as he looked at you.

“Well, it looks super comfortable.”

“It is haha.” Hari laughs nervously while looking at your face.

“Well, I’m going to have to get a copy next time I go there. Who knows we could wear it one the same day together and be matching. That sounds kinda fun doesn’t it?” You laugh sweetly looking at him. His cheeks are practically tomato’s at this point. You wanted to match with him?! Oh jeez.

“Y-yeah that would be f-fun.” Hari laughs before continuing to rummaging through his bag before pulling out a pocket knife. The knife is strangely beautiful in its own way. The silver handed has an intricate symbol etched into it. Looking at it from far away you could have sworn you saw a Yakuza symbol on it. The Shie Hassakai clan to get exact. The blade itself was slightly tinted blue. They were actually seen around here before so looking at that kinda gave you a suspicious feeling.

“That’s no ordinary pocket knife. It looks hella expensive and fancy.”

“A-ah..well.” Embarrassed, Hari looks away.

“What is it? And why does it have the Shie Hassakai symbol on it?”

“You’re going to think it’s weird...”

“Whatever it is I’m not going to judge. I’m only curious but if It makes you uncomfortable I’ll stop asking.”

“I’ll tell you but you have to promise you won’t be weirded out.”

“Hari I promise I won’t bud.”

“Well...the thing is, I’m kinda into knives. They’re just so pretty I can’t help it. I don’t know what it is. The combination of craftsmanship and the feeling of danger maybe. Ah, what am I saying...please don’t think I’m weird for this..”

“I don’t think your weird Hari. I was only interested since it had the Shie Hassakai symbol is all.”

“Oh, I actually got it from a pawn shop. I was looking around since I passed one. One of the head leaders of the Shie Hassakai dropped it when he was running from the police. And it looked so cool so I just had to.”

“Well with a story like that I would too. Ahaha.”

“You’re laughing at me...”

“No, I’m laughing at you. It’s just funny how you get so nervous about sharing. It’s an interesting thing to be into, I guess. But I think it kinda suits you.”

“Suits me?”

“Yeah, it’s kinda intense. Ahaha. Besides it a really cool-looking knife. I’m jealous since it’s probably custom made, meaning only one in the whole world and you have it.”

“it is kinda cool...isn’t it?” Hari relaxes his expression once again.

“Do you wanna hold it?”

“Sure, I’ll check it out.” Hari carefully hands you the knife, with the hand facing towards you. You take it and turn it around in your hands. It feels heavy and extremely solid. Where did that Yakuza boss even get this made from? Curious at its sharpness, you feel the point of the knife with your index finger.

“Ow!”

“(Y/N)-! Why did you do that?”

“I didn’t expect it to be that sharp! I barely touched it at all.”

“It’s my fault! I should have warned you. This knife is extremely sharp. It can cut skin like paper.”

“Oh no...” A small drop of blood dribbles down the side of your finger. Hari takes your hand and gives the wound a closer look.

“Ah..” He stares at it and noticeable fidgets.

“If you’re squeamish. I can go wash it off now. A-ah!” Without warning, Hari puts your finger in his mouth and licks the wound. You feel his tongue wrap around your finger. Startled you instinctively pulled your hand back.

“O-Oh..P-Please forgive me! I wasn’t thinking! I...” Hari lowers his head. His face heating up brighter than ever before.

“Hari-”

“that’s the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever done...how could I do something like that?! I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”

“A-ah.” Sure it was a little weird and took you by surprise. But I guess he was trying to help you...? Maybe? Either or still weird.

“Hari...I think you’re overreacting a little.”

“Uuuuh.” He doesn’t lift his head. What if he doesn’t recover from this for the rest of the afternoon?

“Alright, you know what?” this is probably a stupid thing to do but you do it anyway. You take Hari’s index finger and lick it in return.

“(Y/N)! Did you really just do that?!”

“N-now we’re even.” Hari just looks at you like you did something wrong.

“Ahaha...I knew that would be a bad idea.” You whisper the last part under your breath. Hoping he didn’t hear it. If not for the sweet aroma of the jasmine oil, the air would be extremely heavy right now.

“Y-your so weird (y/n).” Hari chuckles shyly.

“Eh?” Hari calling you weird? This boy licked your finger first! You didn’t know how to respond to that.

“Where do you keep your bandages?”

“Ah...I don’t think I need one actually ahaha. it was only a tiny cut. Look, it stopped bleeding.”

“I see. That’s relieving.” The tension that once filled the air is now quickly lifted much to your pleasure. You each resume your respective activities. You watch as Hari’s knife cut through the ribbon, like it’s nothing but air, meanwhile you continue working on the paper.

After you both finish attaching the paper to the ribbons, we lay them all on the side. To be honest it looked better than you expected and will be very effective as a door curtain.

“It looks great! Nice job coming up with something like this Hari!”

“Ahaha thanks. It’s just something I saw online really.”

“Well, what’s next?”

“I’d like to create a banner. that’s why I asked you to buy the paint tablets.”

“Oh yeah! That’s right.” One of the items Hari had asked you to buy was a kit of watercolor paint tablets.

“We’ll need about six cups of water to put each one of the tablets in. Do you mind fetching those for us?”

“Of course not. Six cups of water. I’ll be right back in about a minute.”

“Thank you very much. Oh, just a little bit of water is okay. If you fill the cups up too much it will be too diluted.” Taking Hari’s advice you decided to use small plastic cups rather than full-sized glasses. You put them on a plate in case any of the paint drips from the cups. You slowly walk back to the bedroom, not trying to spill any paint.

“Hari?”

“Yes?” You go into the bedroom and notice him quickly unrolling his sleeve, pulling it back over his arm.

“Ah...nothing. Your face is a little red. Is it too hot in here or anything?”

“A-ah..no. Not at all! There’s nothing wrong so...let’s hurry up and mix the paint.” Hari hurriedly dismisses me and takes it upon himself to unwrap the tablets, dropping them into the cups.

“So, I thought we could do something simple that would look very nice. I’d like to paint a gradient right off the banner. Starting with the colors of sunrise, then day time, then sunset, and night. Once it dries I’ll write an inspirational quote across the banner. We can hang it on the wall behind the podium at the front of the classroom.”

“Ah neat. What are you going to write?”

“Well..it would be more fun to surprise you.” Hari smiles at you.

“If you say so...” After rolling out the banner you and Hari kneel at opposite ends so that you won’t get in the way of each other. Hari uses a brush and adds a few dots of different colors across the banner to serve as a color guide when you guys paint.

“Honestly, this kind of reminds me of elementary school.” Painting on a banner feels a lot like an art class project we use to do back then. It’s relaxing.

“Ah..I’m sorry if this feels to childish...”

“No, I didn’t mean that at all. I was just saying it’s fun in a nostalgic sort of way.”

“Yeah...it is fun. I’m glad you feel that way too.” Hari stopped painting for a moment, thinking to himself.

“For me I don’t really need to go out and do crazy things to have fun. In fact I usually don’t even want to. It’s just like when I can spend time with another person. Even if it’s only something simple as reading-it doesn’t matter if we don’t talk much. Just having a friend next to me makes things feel a little bit nicer. I think that’s all it takes for me to be happy.”

“Is that so?” Even if you and Hari are quite different, You can understand where he’s coming from. You feel that way about things like anime and games, where simply sharing the experience with someone else can make you happy.

“I think I feel the same way.” Hari smiles gently at you.

“I knew you’d understand.” Hari leans over the banners to grab an unused paint brush. But you move at the same time causing you to bump your head into his.

“Ow...”

“S-sorry!” Hari leans back and you quickly lift your hands in surprise.

“Ah shoot, are you hurt?”

“N-No, I’m not hurt. It just startled me...that’s all. Sorry, I should have asked you to get it for me...”

“It’s not your fault. Ah, your face.” There are droplets of paint of Hari’s face and neck.

“is there something on my face?”

“Yeah, I’m sorry, I accidentally got paint on you...sorry it’s totally my fault. I’ll get a towel right away.” You rush over to the bathroom a get a small towel. You dampen it with hot water. You turn into the room and kneel down in front of him.

“Here...” You pat down Hari’s face and neck with a towel.

“Ah-”

“Is something wrong?”

“It’s hot...I just didn’t expect it.”

“Sorry, I didn’t want to use cold water.” Having finished you started to retract your hand, but Hari suddenly holds onto your wrist.

“Wait!-”

“Eh?”

“Just...for a little longer. It feels really nice.”

“Ah.” You kept your hand on Hari’s neck as he takes a breath, looking into your eyes. It’s an intense expression that you recognize from when he reads his books. Almost as if he’s lost in a daze, enveloped by his own thoughts. He breathes gently, half through slightly parted lips. What is happening? Is the aroma of the jasmine is giving you this odd dizzy feeling? Hari’s gentle fingers wrap around your wrist that send a tingling sensation through your arm. And suddenly his face seems to be much closer to yours than it was moments ago.

“Ah...” Hari slowly pulls away.

“Sorry, I’ve been feeling a little light headed today. I didn’t mean to space out.”

“I-It’s fine.” The moment is over just as soon as it started. Hari picks up his brush again, but his movements seem clumsier, like he’s unable to focus. You remain silent, forced to ignore the event that had just transpired moments ago.You hesitantly retrieve your own brush and continue following Hari’s example.

“Haha! That should do it.” You finish filling in the night sky with white dots. Looking at the banner as a whole, it’s pretty and natural-looking.

“I think it came out looking better than I expected. I’m really happy with the results.”

“Yeah me too. Are you going to add the lettering now?”

“Ah, not yet. The paint still needs to dry first.”

“But won’t that take awhile?”

“Perhaps it would be best to leave it here, than have you bring it in on Monday. I can do the lettering in the classroom before our event starts. Is that okay?”

“That’s totally fine.”

“Wonderful. In that case, I don’t think there anything more for us to do here.”

“Phew.”

“Ahaha. You say that like your glad it’s over. Was I wrong to assume that you were at least enjoying yourself a little bit?”

“Ah no it’s not that. I’m just glad that we managed to get everything done.”

“I see. I am too. I was a little concerned about time. I need to start making dinner soon.”

“Ah so you don’t have any time left?” You were secretly hoping that you would have some extra time after finishing the work.

“Well..” Hari thinks to himself.

“I-I think it would be to irresponsible of me to wait much longer. I’m sorry. I was hoping there would be more time as well."

“It’s probably my fault. Sorry for being such a slow worker.”

“No..it’s not your fault at all. And the important thing is that we got everything done on time right?”

“Yeah.”

“So...I shouldn’t be disappointed or anything.” Gathering all his things, Hari seems to look a little down cast. You understand why. It sounded like he rarely gets the opportunity to spend time with friends in a relaxed environment. but that doesn’t mean it can be the last time this could happen.

Once Hari packs up, you walk him out to the front door.

“Thank you very much for having me today.”

“No problem. I was glad I could help. You could always let me know if there’s anything you need me to bring tomorrow.”

“I will then...” Hari fidgets.

“I guess I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Wait!” You kinda said that without thinking.

“About today...it’s fine that we didn’t have as much time as we wanted. Because we could do this again. Whenever you want, you could come over or we can go out somewhere. Ah, I forgot you don’t like going out much-” As you stumble over your words, Hari smiles bashfully.

“Anyway you know what I’m trying to say so...”

“You’re very thoughtful (y/n).” Hari takes a step closer to you, then briefly squeezes your hand.

“I kinda like that about you...”

“Well...” How are you supposed to respond to that? But you don’t even get a chance as Hari suddenly pulls back.

“D-Dabi?!”

“Eh?!”

“Ah..H-Hi (y/n)”

“Dabi-! Just now we weren’t-”

“Ahaha. It’s okay (y/n). I was just stopping by to say hi.”

“Uh um...well, it’s nice to see you...I’m sorry but I’m already on my way to leave!”

“Aw really? That’s to bad.”

“I’m sorry, but we’ll all be together at the festival tomorrow so...that’s fine right?”

“Of course.” Dabi beams.

“Y-yeah, so...I’ll see you tomorrow.” Clearly embarrassed, Hari hurries off. Dabi waves goodbye after him.

“Dabi...I thought you didn’t want to come over today!”

“Ahaha well...I tried staying in my room...but my imagination was being really mean to me...So i had to come over here and see it for myself.”

“See what? What are you talking about?”

“You know...how much fun you were having with Hari. And how close you got to him. It makes me...really happy...that you’ve made such good friends. That all that matters to me.” Without the tear ducts you know that tears would be streaming down his face. You’ve known that face for years, this time won’t be any different.

“That’s all that matter to me-! Why am I feeling this way (y/n)? I’m suppose to be happy for you. Why does my heart feel like it’s splitting in half? It hurts so much...Everything hurts so much...this would have been it I could just disappear!”

“Dabi don’t say that!”

“It’s true (y/n)! If I wasn’t here, then you wouldn’t have to waste your sympathy on me! You wouldn’t have to put up with me being selfish! Kai was right..I should have just-”

“Kai?...Kai was right about what?”

“...”

“Dabi...What I said before was and is true. I’m not going to let this continue. Caring about you like this isn’t a burden that your making it out to be. It’s something that makes me happy. It’s something That I wouldn’t trade for anything else in the world. You could give me a million dollars and I still wouldn’t trade. So even if it takes an entire lifetime. I’m going to be by your side until you don’t have any more pain.”

“B-but.” Dabi looks away from you. You get closer and place a hand on his scarred cheek as to reassure him. He puts his hand over yours.

“I’m scared, (y/n). I really am.” The way his voice cracked tears holes right through your heart.

“What do you have to be scared of Dabi?” Your voice soft as to not scare or worry him.

“I’m scared that I might like you more than you like me...” His hand grips yours tighter as he starts to shake.

“Dabi?”

“It’s true isn’t it? I was weak and started to like you too much...I did this to myself. (Y/N)...I like you so much that I want to die! That’s how I feel! And..and...”

“Shhh, that’s enough Dabi.” You slowly move your thumb across his cheek.

“I don’t want you to hurt anymore.” You put both of your hands on Dabi’s face. You slowly rub both of your thumbs on Dabi’s face as to not flare up his scars. You look into his electric blue eyes.

“Do you remember how I always said I always knew what was best for you? Do you still believe me?” Wordlessly, Dabi nods.

“Even if you don’t understand all of your own feelings...I know what you need the most right now. And that’s what I’m going to give you.”

“Dabi...I love you.”

“Eh?”

“Those are my true feelings. So..there’s no way you could like me more than I like you. I just wish I could tell you in a more romantic way. But spending time with everyone in the club, making new friends, and having fun with you everyday, slowly but surely made me fall even more in love with you. And that you are truly the most important person to me. And that’s why I’ll accept any of your burdens. As long as we can continue like this everyday. Just by each other’s side. That way, we can both be happy.”

“(Y/N).” Suddenly Dabi wraps his arms tightly around you. You return the hug, tightly squeezing him in your embrace. You feel him snuggle his head in between your head and shoulder.

“(Y/N)...is that truly how you feel?”

“Yeah...” You pull him closer than before and slowly rub his back.

“I promise you’ll never have to let go of me again.”

“I love you (Y/N)....I want to be with you forever.” You hear Dabi whisper into your neck.

“Me too.”

“...” You began to feel Dabi’s grip around you weaken a little bit.

“What is this?”

“Dabi?”

“I’m...suppose to feel happy right now...I always thought this would be the happiest moment for me. But why? Even now...why won’t the rain clouds go away? They’re not going away at all, (y/n)...”

“It’s okay Dabi. It might take some time for things to get better again. But no matter how long it takes, I’ll be there every step of the way. That’s all that matters right now.”

“O-okay...I trust you...” You and Dabi both release each other. A bit of Dabi’s hair falls out of place you move your hand to move the hair back into it’s original place.

“So, I guess that makes the festival tomorrow our first date huh?”

“Ehehe...what are you saying? I don’t want to think about those things you know? I want everything to be the same as it’s always been. Even if we really are...a couple. I don’t know if I can handle anything more right now. It’s really new and scary to me.”

“I understand. As long as whatever makes you happy, I’m willing to be by your side.”

“Hey, (y/n)...” Dabi gazes at you and smiles sadly.

“Even if I get really, really sad...this is the best thing for me right?”

“Eh?” You worry if you had said something wrong as your mind races a million miles a minute.

“Are you saying I’m making you sad?”

“I-I don’t know...I don’t understand what I’m feeling. It felt like a bunch of thorns when you told me you loved me...but that’s why I want to trust you.You know what’s best for me...”

“...Yeah...I do...That’s my promise. And no matter what, I promise that you’ll never have to be alone. I’ll be here every step of the way.” You say that but in reality you worry. You know that he loves you and you love him. All you want to do is to make sure that he never has to feel alone again. Even though you can comfort him, you worry if your saying the right thing. You want to be there whenever Dabi’s needs you. You want to be by his side to protect him from the demons in his head. And if Dabi wants things to go back to the way things have always been, then you will do it just so Dabi can be happy. No matter the cost. Dabi is the most important person to you, and you’ll do whatever it takes to help him.

Yandere PokeCanons

So I’m in school currently, Not doing my work (as usual lol no i’m kidding, i finished my work already.) and i decided to write some yandere headcanons for pokemon characters. (Since my main blog is a yandere blog why don’t i transfer some of that energy over here.)

Under the Cut for Length reasons :)

Natural Harmonia Gropius

To begin with, N would be more of a Obsessive Delusional Yandere, He wants to believe that you two belong together, that you are already together with him. He wants to keep you all for himself, and live as one big happy family with all of your pokemon.

Using his ability to talk to pokemon as an advantage, he would find out little things about you from them, your battle style, your favorite type, which pokemon do you prefer to use. He’ll know eveything. He becomes really close to your Pokemon, even babysitting them for you when you’re off doing other things

He’ll definitely use his ties with Team Plasma as a last resort, He doesn’t want his dad to figure out that he has such feelings for someone. He is supposed to be focused on liberating pokemon. Freeing them!

But yet he has thoughts of placing you into a nice pretty room decorated just for you, everything you need, access to the gardens, as many pokemon as you want! You’ll love it...

When he finally decides to act upon his desires, He’ll invite you out on a walk in the forest, he claims he wants to show you some pokemon that he thought you’d like. You follow him (you shouldn’t have y/n..)

You find an adorable little Shaymin, it coos and rubs up against you in the most adorable way. You feel your heart swarm up and smile, Only to feel a sting in your side and arms wrapped around your waist.

“Shh..Finally..it’ll be just you and I, my dear, Please don’t fight it..” He whispers, feeling your body slowly going limp in his arms. The Shaymin, still watching, asks N if you’re going to be okay. He just gives them a small smile and nods. “She’s just tired, I’ll make sure she’s okay” He says as he walks away. He’ll have to thank Colress for the syrum later.

Champion Leon

He would meet you through Victor and Gloria, they introduce you as their older cousin who is visiting from Alola for a couple of months. He is struck with love at first sight. He instantly feels a sudden attraction towards you, and at first he thought he was sickly. He even went as far as asking Raihan what was wrong (To which he replied “You’re in love Leo”)

Definitely a Possessive Manipulative type

He would use his Champion position to pull the strings a bit to see you more and more. He couldn’t get enough of you. He would make sure he knew every move you made. He would become closer to Victor and Gloria just to figure out when you are leaving.

Three months

Thats all he had left.

So he had to act quick.

He was so excited and giddy, He made everything out, He was gonna ask you out, you would say yes! He would have you all to himself and no one else could have you! He marched up to you while you were out with your Scorbunny training him. He placed his arms around your shoulders, spinning you around to face him.

“Y/n! I’m glad I caught you in time! I have something that I want to tell you!!” He said excitedly. You giggled and smiled up at him. God he loved that smile, He couldn’t wait until you were his and he had you underneath him whi-. “What’s up Leo?” He shook his head from his thoughts and smirked softly, handing you a bouquet of roses.

“Will you, (Y/n) (L/n), Be my girlfriend?..” “A-ah! I didn’t think you shared my feelings! Of Course!”

(now you’re never going home y/n, Leon is your home now...)

(His Yandere Song is Mean’t To Be Yours from Heathers. (I flipping love this song,)

Professor Kukui and Burnett

Burnett would be the first one to meet you.

You were a new lab assistant helping with the research of the Ultra Beasts, You were Smart, Quick Witted and Spoke Sarcasm as a second language. Burnett loved having conversations with you and appreciates the time that you take to help them out. That Appreciation soon turned to love.

She is a Manipulative Type, She wants to shelter you and carry you away from the light of the world. She didn’t have that much of a hard time doing that, You lived alone on MeleMele Island with no one except your litten and mimikyu to keep you company. Burnett offered you to move in with her and her husband as her Personal Assistant.

Of Course you said yes, being the sweet and adorable person she knew you were. That’s When she introduced you to her husband. Who welcomed you with open arms just like he did with Lillie.

Now Kukui, He’s a different story. He is Delusional

When you first start staying with them, He’s like a care taker, he makes sure you have anything or everything you need. You help him with Pokemon moves and type match up. He’s impressed of what you can do, he’s impressed with your smarts

Now he’s Love struck, He brings the situation up to his wife, thinking that she was going to be upset with him because of his feelings. He was shocked when she expressed the same thing.

Now They work as a team.

They monitor everything that you do, from who you talk to ,to who you work with. They slowly start removing your privileges, and make it so that you could work from home. You become their precious princess, they basically worship you.

“Mmm! It’s gonna be so great! I have so much planned, I cannot wait to take the trip to Kanto with you Sweetie! Right Dear?” “She’s right y/n, It’ll be the perfect getaway for us” (You wish you would have never said yes)

Team Galactic Leader Cyrus

Cyrus is the most dangerous out of all of the people I have written for today.

Being a Team leader gives you alot of authority over people, people are afraid of Cyrus. They cower in fear when they hear about team galactic.

That’s why he was confused why you joined.

You were an Admin, you were over the grunts and passed orders directly from Cyrus. You were strict with grunts, didn’t take any shit, but was so sweet to Cyrus and held him on a pedestal. (thats the mistake you made)

Cyrus began keeping you as a right hand Admin, replacing Saturn (who is a fellow Yandere A delusional one at that). He keeps you by your side and begins feeding you lies.

“You don’t need them” “Stay with me, I need your help” “y/n you’re better than that, he’s just upset you mean more to me”

Slowly, Cyrus will start to show signs of a Dependent Manipulative yandere. He feels as if he’ll feel empty if you aren’t near him. He wants only you and you. He wants you to be a part of his perfect world, he’ll worship you as his queen.

Though at seems your life would get tougher because of Saturn. He felt as if you took Cyrus away from him. So now he considers it war,

But Cyrus.

He considers it the beginning of his life. He might actually settle down with you, after his world is created. It’ll just be you and him, he doesn’t need anybody else but you. He’ll start making plans, and when the day comes, he’s ready.

He’s standing next to you when his world is created.

He manages to get you to believe him, that you are the only thing he need, he’s the only one that you need. and that you can survive with only him.

“The day has come...No one can stop us now, y/n,It’s us against the world and we’re winning.” “They can’t harm us anymore.”

Reasons I love Monika (DDLC)

- She gives genuine writing advice in some parts of that game that actually helped me write poetry

- She only treated her friends the way that she did because she knew that they weren't real, and even then, she couldn't bring herself to delete them. (She's not some crazy yandere like a lot of people portray her)

- She has her hand out in the main menu because she wants you to pull her out of the game with that hand oof

- She didn't really delete her friends, but the player deleted her for real. That would sting real bad. But even after that, she still loves you and helps you by deleting the game that's only causing your suffering. Like, you did such a horrible thing to her, and yet she still goes out of her way to help you.

- I find it so interesting that none of the other girls (when not influenced by Monika) never say "hey, you've never really spent much time with Monika". It really feels like she's being ignored, and I feel really bad for her. The game really is leaving her out of things, that must hurt.

- She gave genuine advice to MC once Sayori started acting weird. Right after that, yes, she likely said something pretty nasty to Sayori, but what she said to MC was pretty good advice, from what I remember (might need to see the dialogue again oops)

- I love the amount of genuine emotion that goes into her poetry. I don't know how the author of those poems went "this is how I would write a poem if I felt trapped in a game and pushed away from the only real thing in sight", but I really love it so much. She and Sayori have some of my favourite poems in the game.

- I like how unique she is! A lot of it is likely her trying to stand out, but things like her name ending with "a" when everyone else's ends with "i" was probably not a change that she made. I feel like that was her name to begin with, and she's supposed to be different because she's not supposed to be a character that you can date.

- She learns piano pretty fast and I don't know if she actually learned piano that fast or if she already knew piano and just never had a chance to play for the player but I love her for it either way lol

- She's the only character that doesn't really care about MC. She's in love with the player, not MC. She can only get to the player through MC and that's why she wants to spend time with him.

- Her song (Your Reality) is my favourite song and a lot of its lyrics are pretty relatable to me personally. I won't go too into detail about that, but it's a really good song that does a great job of showing how Monika feels.

- Monika honestly loved the literature club and her friends (her own dying words, I'm not making that up) and the fact that she cared that much about them is actually pretty sweet. She's used to bigger clubs where she probably doesn't know everyone super well, so being in a smaller club full of closer friends probably could have been nice for her.

- The fact that she stares into space and just stops listening to people around her is actually so relatable I can't—

- She's supposed to stand out but her hair isn't nearly as bright as the other girls. I guess that's because she's not supposed to be a love interest, so she was made to look less bright, but I love that it's like reverse main character syndrome. Like, when you see that shot of a classroom with all the boring students and that one bright main character? Imagine that flipped. There's Monika, the one plain student lol

- She was programmed to be the popular girl but MC's not supposed to give her any attention, that's kind of harsh. I know she was tired of the popular clubs, but that doesn't mean that he should have to avoid her like that. It's sad, because she's probably used to it being easier to get people's attention and she was probably pretty upset to discover that her only option was to make the other girls unlikeable.

- I wish I had her confidence. I know it's a whole thing in the game that she says she's not all that confident, she just has to seem more confident because she's the president of a club, but even pretending to be confident is so much work and... god, I love how much work she puts into things.

- The way she actually listens to her club and apologizes for her mistakes is... so good. I just love when Natsuki storms out because she didn't ask for her opinion, and then when she comes back the next day, Monika makes it a priority to talk to her. I know tons of people who would give a lazy apology last minute because "Natsuki's being all childish, it's not my fault she's angry about it" or some stupid excuse like that.

- A lot of the time, I wish there was an option to answer her questions, or to genuinely write her a poem. I know there are probably mods that you can use to do that, but I mean for real in the game before you delete her. Like, when she asks for your favourite colour, I really want to tell her. And when she asks you to write a poem, I want a real poem mini game and not just the word "Monika" over and over. She's the only character that can't be given answers and I feel bad about it.

- I like that she realizes her mistakes when you delete her because you can't tell her what she did wrong. And then she brings back the world, taking herself out of it. That's really sad, because she thinks that she did what you wanted, which is bringing back the game without her. She basically killed herself because "this is what the player wants, right? They hate me, they deleted me, they don't want me in their game". People really don't make a big enough deal out of deleting her, you basically killed her. She didn't even delete her friends, but you deleted her.

- She's so talented, I wish I had the patience to learn to do that many things. Like, she knows piano, she has a genuine love for literature and talent at writing poetry, she can sing, she has been the leader of several clubs, she learned basic coding very quickly... These would normally be very difficult things to learn, but she's such a fast learner and that's so awesome.

So I know that she's pretty hated, but I like to consider Monika "best girl". If she had a route, I'd probably go with hers. No matter your opinion on her, please don't dislike mine. I have nothing against your opinion, you're allowed to dislike Monika. I just felt like sharing my thoughts so that people could have a more open mind about her. She wasn't as horrible a person as many people say and I really wish that more people liked her and really looked at her character properly.

Top 5 Games Of The Year Runner Up And Honorable Mentions

Runner Up: Doki Doki Literature Club (THIS SECTION CONTAINS BIG SPOILERS, IF YOU HAVEN’T PLAYED DDLC AND ARE INTERESTED IN MAYBE TRYING IT HERE’S THE TL;DR It’s good, it plays with your expectations in a very good way and in a multitude of ways, it’s a great little piece of media that brings to life an extremely good character. Also it’s free, go download it on steam.)

Look, maybe it’s because I don’t consume a lot of horror media but this game really stood out to me. Not only for it’s genre though, also for the high quality of its writing and with how great the game is at accomplishing the one and only thing it truly sets out to do: Convey Monika as a character. The horror elements themselves can be a bit hit and miss and some of them are quite predictable, but I feel the game is excellent at building a continuous sense of dread as the player continues through it. It rapidly ratchets up the intensity of its content after taking just enough time for the player to settle in and get comfortable and mixes in JUST A COUPLE of jumpscares (which honestly it probably shouldn’t) in order to keep the player unsteady enough in terms of expectations to keep that dread building. Regardless, throughout the game Doki Doki Literature Club does a great job taking advantage of player expectations both of dating sim visual novels AND of horror writing to ultimately become something just a little bit more. It becomes an excellent character exercise and exploration. Thanks to some smart programming in service of the game’s ultimate intent, to make Monika into a ‘real’ character actually ended up giving me one of the deepest scares any piece of media, video game or otherwise, has ever given me. And it did it without any secondary stimuli like sound or a jumpscare or horrifying visuals. No, in a completely calm moment all that was said was this:

And I REELED back in my chair because the suspense and the dread the game had been building all impacted me at once. You can’t deliver that kind of scare in someone without some smart writing backed up by some VERY smart programming and understanding of player expectations. Honestly Monika is such an excellent and fully realized character despite the game being so short it’s astounding. By taking care to give her a lot of special conditional dialogue, pages upon PAGES of missable content, and even meta-content such as her having unique dialogue that only appears while looking through the game’s files it really just all coalesces into making Monika feel almost real, real enough to give me the willies and to feel a bit sad for her by the end. DDLC is a divisive game and I understand if the game’s handling of certain themes or content doesn’t sit well with other people but for me, and I say this as someone who is no stranger to suicide attempts, the game never went to far. For me it all worked in service of the game’s narrative and Monika’s character growth. Honestly even just little details like how the piano in the soundtrack only starts playing for the first time once Monika is introduced and only ever stops when she’s not watching you or how there’s a lot of different horror elements that only occur randomly so not everyone has the same experience or how some can only happen in fullscreen or in windowed mode, it’s really amazing attention to detail and consideration of her character while also making the game more unique as a product. DDLC was really good. It gave me some good scares but it also gave me a good story and a GREAT character to appreciate. Even if, like me, you’re a bit of a weenie when it comes to horror content I’d wholeheartedly recommend DDLC as a read, assuming you both can handle a jumpscare or two and can handle game content that involves suicide and self harm. I know I didn’t get too in depth here but I wanted to avoid spoiling TOO much and honestly I already said too much as is! Please excuse me! Honorable Mention #1: Yo! Noid 2 - Enter the Void

It’s not often you get a game that’s developed explicitly as a joke that’s so good. Yo Noid 2 is a solid, fun, and funny platformer. It’s all pretty clearly built just to tell one joke right at the very end but the ends ABSOLUTELY justify the means. I can’t talk too in detail about this game without ruining why it’s special, but Yo Noid 2 is a legitimately fun 3D platformer, with good level design, a relatively expressive moveset, a very special Special Action Button, and honestly a great soundtrack to boot! Its difficulty ramps up in a good way across its very short 90-150 minute length culminating in a very fun final boss fight. PLEASE go download Yo Noid 2, if you like 3D platformers and want to have a good laugh it’s 300% worth your time. It’s even free, you have no excuses!!

Honorable Mention #2: Mega Man 11 Mega Man is back, again, and they really did a good job expanding the franchise. While I still like entries such as 9, 10, and 4 better personally there’s no denying MM11 expands the franchise in a positive way more than any other before it. MM11 takes the time tested side scrolling design of the classic Mega Man series and adds just enough of a new wrinkle with the Double Gear system to really expand the player’s horizons and to push their level design concepts. While Double Gear and in fact all of the secondary weapons are entirely unnecessary as is tradition for Mega Man games MM11 does a great job incentives smart use of these mechanics, keeping them balanced with a shared cooldown system between both gears (power and speed) and making every single one of the Robot Master powers actually useful! Also all of the robot master designs are really charming this time, I was initially worried about the addition of voice acting but the voice cast does a great job! The level design is also a treat, while the length of the levels varies DRASTICALLY and Wily Castle 1 is dramatically longer and harder than another other stage in the game overall it’s very easy to just jump into any level and challenge yourself. There is no obvious first boss, they’re all pretty tough, and I started with Acid Man myself. The only thing about MM11 that let me down was the soundtrack; it wasn’t bad it just wasn’t bombastic either, merely present during play but not sticking in my memory at all. MM11 is a great entry in the series and I hope it signals a true return of one of my childhood favorites with more games to come soon. Honorable Mention #3: Fire Emblem - Mystery of the Emblem (FE12) Taking the great concept of remaking FE’s earliest titles that Shadow Dragon started and actually putting in the elbow grease to make the game really good, FE12 is a stand out entry in the Fire Emblem franchise. While some aspects of its map design are somewhat held back by the original iteration, FE3′s age, the developers at IntSys really did a great job modernizing Archanea and paying good tribute to the characters and story that made this game an absolutely beloved classic in the first place. With overall good map design, modernized mechanics, the best use of an Avatar Character in the franchise, and massively improved unit, class, and weapon balance over the original FE12 polishes its source material to a razor shine. Top it all off with a decent story and great new content that adds a bunch of new dialogue to the characters and this is the definitive way to experience Archenea and its inhabitants. Except for Marth, he was better in Shadow Dragon. Besides Marth’s characterization taking a step back and the gaiden content being rather slapdash and forgettable, this game is everything a remastering should be; Taking what worked and polishing it, improving what didn’t, and adding all new content that fits in with the original game in a productive and fun way for fans. The addition of a wide variety of gameplay difficulties and including the until this game INCREDIBLY rare BS: Fire Emblem expansion chapters previously exclusive to the Super Famicom Satellaview this game cartridge is bursting with good content. It’s a fun, fun game with a lot to offer and great replayability thanks to its BULGING roster of characters and deeply customizable avatar character. If you like Fire Emblem as a franchise I’d heavily recommending finding a patched FE12 rom out there, harder though it is to do now. You owe it to yourself to experience this game. Oh, just play with the battle animations off, they’re REALLY ugly. Still, this game puts Shadow Dragon’s lazy near-direct port of an NES game to DS to shame. Honorable Mention #4: A Hat in Time - Seal the Deal This DLC has been getting some backlash and frankly I don’t get why. While I was a bit disappointed the new chapter was shorter than the base game ones the Death Wish side of things offered a TON of great new content and new ways to experience past challenges. For its modest price point this DLC really does everything I could possibly hope for out of a 3D Platformer expansion. New, tougher challenges to really push my skills, fun new content that fits right in with the base game in terms of quality and polish, and in A Hat in Time’s case GREAT new boss fight experiences. Taking every existing boss and turning them into a downright Superboss level difficulty fight, remixing all of their attacks, speed, patterns, and adding all new stuff to them is such a great idea and I really loved it. Seal the Deal is a ton of fun as long as you aren’t averse to an easy base game getting a VERY challenging DLC expansion. I can understand why the difficulty whiplash might turn some people off but for me it was just right and really hit the spot. A Hat in Time is just so good, I love it.

Speechless.

The following post deals with the game(s) Doki Doki Literature Club, Mystic Messenger and then a sinister “challenge” called Blue Whale.

Recently I reblogged this post thinking that it was a joke about the game DDLC (Doki Doki Literature Club). I have played this game (along with a friend of mine) and I thought this was something edited.

It turns out...it’s not.

This is actual news coverage about a teenager that has committed suicide and his family, and the coroner, are linking his tragic death to the game. (At least a part of it.)

So, I watched this video by PewDiePie (Felix) today talking about this. Watch it. I will link it here. (He begins talking about it around 6:35) anyways...they describe the game like this:

-advertised for 13 or older. (They ask if you are 13 and older before playing the game but also consistently warn you that this game is not suitable for children and not to play this game if you are easily disturbed due to it’s graphic content.)

-“characters suggest things to you and you decide what to do...” (I mean...kind of...but...they ask you to select words for poems and then it is a “decision making” game that needs to advance the plot. Just like any other game.)

-“the characters befriend and love you and give you tasks to do, but if you do not do them, they turn nasty.” (The game was made to begin “breaking” no matter what choices you made.)

-it is a free game. (Okay, that’s true.)

-it is an online game. (While it is on the computer...it is not an “online game” in that sense. But you do need an internet connection to play.)

-it is a mobile phone game. (Whoa, whoa, whoa...that’s not true at all.)

I was so confused because this is not how DDLC works. Also, again, DDLC has a consistent advisory warning about the content of the game and it is advertised as a psychological horror game. It does contain triggering content but it does warn you.

This just didn’t make any sense.

But, then, this is what got me:

-“...the game was linked with his mobile phone and he would be contacted by text message during the day and at night, often waking him up.”

Felix then says they were possibly talking about a different game.

A game that is actually mentioned in a different article about the same tragic event.

A game called Mystic Messenger.

A news article about that is linked here. (This article speaks about DDLC as well, so, to get to what they say about Mystic Messenger you will need to scroll down a bit.)

I was...speechless. Felix then says how they are describing a game “where you message people” and “gives your notifications at random points”...how he “thinks” this describes some main premises of MM (Mystic Messenger).

I have played this game as well so let’s match up the points to MM now...and also their contradictions.

-advertised for 13 years and older. (Some parts of the game are advertised for age 15 and older. Also, due to how the game is set up and how complicated it can get, it actually has attracted an older audience than 13 or even 15.)

-“characters suggest things to you and you decide what to do...” (They suggest guests...and you decide whether to invite them or not. But other than that...)

-“the characters befriend and love you and give you tasks to do, but if you do not do them, they turn nasty.” (The characters do befriend you and it is a dating simulation game...so, yes, they do “love you” and you do have “tasks” but, really, it is just the plot of the game to complete each route with each character. Also, you do have the “pressure”, if you will, to select correct answers to get a “Good Ending”. Other options...including missed chats, wrong chat options and not enough party guests in attendance for the finale of a game route will lead you to a “Normal Ending” or “Bad Ending”. These “endings” can be showing the characters, or your relationship with the characters, in a negative light. But, these characters never truly turn “nasty”. Not in my opinion.)

-it is a free game. (Yes, true...until you unlock other routes and other DLC’s.)

-it is an online game. (Not in the sense of interacting with other players...but, yes, you do need an internet connection to play.)

-it is a mobile phone game. (Strictly, so.)

But...just like Felix says in his video...it is like they combined the premises of both games (which...are not really the true premises). Then they twisted it in a way to create this dangerous view on these games.

When talking about this game(s) the family has said, and I quote, they “dragged his son in”, “it drags you in and makes it very real”, “once you get into it - it will not leave you alone”.

These sound like extreme exaggerations on both games. DDLC can be done in your own time and in one sitting or not. MM is over the course of 11 days but you do not have to answer any of the messages or chats.

Also, you can delete these games and stop playing them at any time. These games do break the fourth wall, can be considered “broken games” (by some), do deal with very real issues and Mystic Messenger does send you notifications in real time.

These games, as well, do deal with abuse, violence, mental illness, suicide, drug use and criminal activity.

These themes are also forewarned multiple times in both games to users.

But...at the end of the day, these are just games. You can stop playing. They can be deleted. And nothing will happen.

(There is no shame in not playing these games or deleting these games due to their content. Please, do so, if the content is triggering to you. Take care of yourself.)

The family has stated that “there is not confirmation yet, but we believe that the game could be linked to Ben’s (their child) death.” They have just listed it as a “potential cause”.

But the media is putting the blame and making DDLC the front face of this tragedy. And, now, an article is actually linking Mystic Messenger as a warning to parents and their children as well.

But these descriptions do not truly fit these games.

This media converage is disrespectful to a company like Team Salvato (DDLC) who created an intricate game as a pathway into a more intricate game (watch Game Theory if you do not know what I am talking about) and Cheritz (MM) that uses their game to donate to charities and provide “happiness” to their players. Both games also address severe issues such as abuse and watching out for signs of mental illness in the people around you. Even in yourself.

Also, I am not pushing blame on anyone for this tragedy. But there was something deeper happening here than a video game. Because, while a form of entertainment can have triggering content, it is not the root of the issue.

The media, and possibly even the family to some extent, did not totally know what their child was doing and/or did not fully understand it. (Which Felix also states in his video.) The proof of that is how poorly both games were even covered.

So, here’s where I’d like to bring up a more sinister, darker “game” that is truly not a “game” at all...

A “game” (or, “challenge”, if you will) called Blue Whale.

Blue Whale is a game that was in the news a while back for causing people to commit suicide. But it is much more sinister...this “game” “does not physically exist”, is “hidden in a world that cannot be found”, you are “trapped in a world with no escape”...”a world that lasts for 50 days, ending with you taking your own life.”

This game has spread worldwide. From Russia, to other places in Europe and now, as I have read recently, to Asia as well.

The game starts out between an “administrator” and a “participant/victim”. This game is mainly conducted through social media platforms. It includes the “administrator” assigning you daily tasks such as listening to certain music or watching horror-genre videos. These tasks grow in intensity as the days go on to things such as staying up the entire night, standing on the edge of great heights and mutilating your skin with a “whale” symbol. The final end task is to commit suicide.

These victims are, in my eyes, basically brainwashed, conditioned and manipulated. They could already been in a vulnerable place and the administrators of this game know this through monitoring them by their online presence. They make their victims think their devices have been infected by malware and viruses and threaten to release all their information and photos of them online if they do not “play”. The tasks they are given are meant to drive someone to that dark of a place where they will follow any instruction and, then, eventually, even take their own lives.

It’s evil.

In the last month (side note: DDLC does not take a month to play unless you truly spaced it out. Also, MM is an 11 day game unless you play more than one route.) of Ben’s life his family said they observed this behavior:

-no interest in school when he used to be one of best pupils in class

-problems sleeping

-problems eating

-“became darker inside”

They also stated that many things were happening in their son’s life but they believe the game is one part of it. That kids and parents need to be made aware.

They just want his death to “have meaning”.

And...that breaks my heart.

This whole situation is unfair and tragic.

But, if they truly observed a change in their son and also linked the timeline of it with a new engrossment in a game...they could be possible looking at the wrong game.

But...these changes in him alone are a sign of possibly severe mental illness. That’s the bigger picture...something very, very difficult was happening within your child.

And...there is a possibility that a sinister “challenge” such as “Blue Whale” preyed on that.

They are looking in the wrong place.

But besides that, games and challenges aside, the point is...your son was struggling with mental illness.

Even if he was playing a game such as DDLC or MM...that is not the root of the issue.

We need to reach out to our children, to our family, to our partners and our friends and speak to them, watch over them, help them. And pray they grasp our hands back.

Before it’s too late.

The games themselves are not the problem. The problem is a disconnect between one another where we miss something, overlook something, not pay close enough attention to something, not monitor your child...until a tragedy like this happens.

But no one is truly to blame. (Unless he did fall prey to such a sinister “challenge”.) from the information we do have, this is no one’s fault.

Also, the media needs to do their research (I know they had a couple people on the BBC interview that said relevant things but they also had some misinformation as well) before slapping a popular image of a game(s) on the screen for views and clicks. The game is not the point.

Missing something crucial.

Speaking out about the true root of mental illness.

Watching over each other.

Watching over our children.

That is the point.

Why I’m questioning Sayori

I said I’d make this post so here it is! Even got on my laptop to properly do the post :p I’m just kinda winging this but I’ll try to list out everything I can. If I forget stuff I’ll go back and edit it later so if you’re curious, keep watch! I’ll reblog any time I make edits, at least somewhat big ones.

Also, replies are welcome! I’m open to constructive criticism and anyone wanting to offer new viewpoints. I accept that I’m still learning and nothing is for sure yet. Also tbh anyone telling me I sound like I’m kin is validating as heck so if you’re thinking it then I’d appreciate you saying it ahaha, but please don’t lie to me because you think you know what I want to hear. I want the truth. I don’t want to be a confused mess ;n; And I know all/most of these could be COMPLETELY unrelated to being Sayori fictionkin, but I feel like they’re worth mentioning anyways. It’s more like, a bunch of little coincidences rather than big solid evidence, I’m aware of that and that’s a big reason why I’m questioning and not for-sure Sayorikin.

One thing I realized just a couple of days ago is how, since I was a kid I’ve had this like, ideal thing I guess? how do I put this into words lmao my brain is dumb,, I guess a fantasy, that I’d fall in love with a childhood friend, like someone I’m close with from a young age but strictly friends for a long time. I’ve always been in love with the idea of falling in love with your best friend. And of course that’s what happens to Sayori, due to her programming in DDLC. And if I’m kin with Sayori from other game(s) rather than just DDLC then it definitely could be something unrelated, just a coincidence.

I’m like, really drawn to DDLC?? Maybe just because DDLC is a great game and I love all the creepypasta type stuff behind it all, all the theories and dark shit, and also I think just as a cute dating sim it’d be great anyways (but nowhere near as great). But idk, when I saw it I immediately felt kinda drawn to it but maybe that’s just in my head or for some other reason like the characters look nice or smth.

Also it REALLY gives me feels. It makes me feel things in general. I rarely get genuinely scared from fictional stuff anymore but this game fucked me up. I’m still scared to play it on my own because, even after watching multiple youtubers play it multiple times, it still fucking scares me.

The Sayori suicide scene and her poem- especially the poem- really get to me. I saw people making hanging puns in the previous video before her death so it was kind of spoiled for me but even still, it got to me. And the scene where Sayori is freaking out because you deleted Monika before playing the game REALLY gets to me,, like I just understand that overwhelming, helpless feeling. Especially finding out why she acted that way, it’s so fucking hard to watch that scene and normally I’m not affected by this kind of stuff. So either DDLC is extremely good at psychological horror or I have some sort of connection to the scenarios, whether that be just that I’ve been through similar things and am projecting (not really that I remember though? idfk brains are weird) or ya know,,, I once lived as someone in DDLC or whatever.

(TW self harm/suicide/choking) Probably has no real correlation but when I have panic attacks/flashbacks (unrelated to DDLC I mean) I feel like I’m choking or like I can’t breathe. And when really frustrated I tend to choke myself? Sayori died from asphyxiation instead of her neck being broken, by accident because she used a stepping stool instead of something higher like a chair and jumping off. Btw I’m okay, I never actually choke myself to the point to causing permanent damage or anything, and of course I’m not saying this is like, okay or anything. I know it’s bad but I’ve done it completely on impulse, and this was all before learning DDLC even existed. I’m working on getting better and I’m not going to kill myself or anything, just thought I’d mention this.

I relate to her personality,,, so fucking much. Not just the whole pretending to be happy to make your friends happy thing, but how she is as a person besides her depression. Tbh I feel like a lot of people relate to her because of her depression and how she deals with it, but like she’s so much more than that. She pretends to be dumb but it actually pretty smart. Maybe she’s not the best with words but I think she’s a lot more intelligent than some people think. She’s so cheerful, maybe even annoying, and is kind of the class clown, and is a total weirdo sometimes but it’s GREAT and just,, same lmao. Like “looks like my boobs are getting bigger again >:D” is something I’d say lolol I just love Sayori so much, like idc if I’m kin with her or not she’s still fucking amazing.

Another reason I relate to her but probably is like not at all proof I’m Sayori or anything, just thought I’d mention anyways, but I was kinda like, really in love with my guy friend in high school for years, he’s actually kinda like MC in some ways, like he was kinda popular with girls but not like Popular(tm), super nice and couldn’t directly say no, but he knew I was in love with him (or at least knew I had a crush on him but he probably had no idea I liked him THAT much but hey neither did I for a long time lmao) and didn’t like me back and even started intentionally avoiding me. Like, he would make up an excuse to not give me a hug, like he was late for class, but hugs only take like a fucking second what the hell?? It sucked but like when the player turns down Sayori I Relate.

I just,,,,, want to hug Natsuki like she’s fucking adorable and I want to protect her the most bc she’s like a precious child and she’s obviously abused by her dad. Tbh Yuri is a little creepy and for some reason I don’t like her that much but I mean I’d still hug her. I don’t hate Monika, like it was just her programming to do all that stuff she did so I don’t blame her and she’s p cool and I’d hug her too tbh. When Sayori interacts with Natsuki it makes me feel all warm n fuzzy. Like I don’t think in my canon Sayori and Natsuki were dating or anything, I think I/Sayori am/was just really protective? Idk, thought I’d throw that out there.

I also heavily relate to wanting to be a mediator and wanting to help everyone get along and be happy. I often (try to) play that role in this life. I’m extremely empathetic, so that’s prob why, but I can’t stand when people are fighting or can’t see each other’s point of view. Though it also frustrates the FUCK out of me when people refuse to or just absolutely cannot see any point of view but their own. Maybe that’s not really a Sayori thing but ye

When I look at Sayori I get the same “that’s me!” feeling as when I see my kintypes. Who knows though, maybe in a month or two it’ll fade, we’ll see I guess. But right now it is Very Strong. Like I’ve somewhat questioned being fictionkin with other characters before but I’ve never had the “that’s me” feeling this strong with anyone else. Ruby from RWBY is a close second but I still think she’s just a kithtype.

I feel like having a past life or whatever as someone who was experimented on kinda makes sense?? Maybe I just enjoy horror a little too much but I really think if I am Sayori I’m kin with her like actual her not just the DDLC version of her. The new game hasn’t even been announced yet but I’m so excited, mostly because I feel like I want to learn more about my possible past life I guess. I wanna see if things in the second game connect with me or if it’s just DDLC. But I feel like, if I’ve had any past lives as any humans, they were probably really dark or smth. I kinda have a dark mind I guess and that would just make sense to me lmao, like I’m 21 why haven’t I grown out of my edgy phase, why the fuck am I still really into creepypasta? Damn.

I’ve been kinda obsessed with DDLC lately. I have BPD so it could totally just be a BPD obsession thing and maybe this obsession will fade and someday I won’t care too much about DDLC, only time will tell. Also I’ve had the song Your Reality stuck in my head for a week straight but it may just be a catchy song and I tend to have a song that kinda automatically starts playing in my head occasionally, usually lately it’s been Sad Machine by Porter Robinson (good song btw highly recommend)

Most likely unrelated but Sayori’s hair has been described as “strawberry blonde” on one wiki and my hair is like, light brown but reddish, though it looks more like Monika’s hair, especially because I keep my hair long. I’ve been kinda wanting to cut it but I like having long hair tbh and I feel like a lot of ppl don’t want me to cut my hair haha, though I really wanna get a short wig and maybe wear that occasionally (esp bc I’m non binary and wanna pass as more boyish sometimes, I know society will never accept me as nb bleh but anyways). Though, it’s been said that the reason her hair is short is because it’s easier for her to deal with, but I’m not 100% sure if that’s canon. Though I guess it doesn’t matter much? cuz multiverse stuff n all but, still.

Speaking of her appearance, she seems to not care too much about how she looks, which I relate to haha, especially because of depression n stuff. I mean I have Crippling Social Anxiety(tm) so I do care to an extent but usually I’m like, if someone likes me they’ll like me for who I am not how I look anyways. I don’t feel the need to dress super proper to impress anyone in casual social situations, like making friends or even going on dates (though I’ve only been on a real date like a few times and they were with my gf who I’d already been dating online for a while). And yeah a big reason she’s so careless about her appearance is depression but I think if I wasn’t depressed and she wasn’t depressed we’d still both have that mentality like, we don’t need to impress anyone with our appearance so it’s better to just dress how you want, whatever way makes you feel comfortable and happy with yourself and your body, than focus on being proper and stuff.

Maybe I’m just projecting but man I feel like a lot of stuff I do and my ways of thinking and stuff are very Sayori(tm). I feel like I am so much like her, like she’s so me. Though of course, maybe my reason for being kin with her is purely psychological. Maybe I “became” her after seeing DDLC. Maybe I am her because I relate to her so much. But again, only time will tell. If I still feel like I identify as her (which, currently, I most definitely do) in a couple of months or so, then I guess I’ll start calling myself fictionkin. Idk.

8/24/19 out and about

I had decided to go with Wally to his dentist appointment today. Why?

Because I’m going to be shadowing his dentist this upcoming Tuesday.

So I woke up bright and early and went to the gym, and wasted so much time there that I would’ve been running late to go to the dentist. So I hastened home.

Wally got me, with my book in hand, and we scurried over to his appointment, for which I think he might’ve been late.

The sweet irony of it all is that the dentist I’m to shadow wasn’t even working today. So I just sat in the lobby and started reading The Road.

Pretty shortly in, I bragged to Hana that I’m really good at spotting typos, because I thought I’d noticed one where the author wrote ‘cant’ instead of ‘can’t.’ I smugly kept reading, but realized that it was a stylistic choice that he was doing with many contractions, and not a mere typo. My pride smarted, but I didn’t clarify my mistake to Hana. I guess I am with this post, so hi. I’m not good at spotting typos. I’m just judgmental.

After Wally’s appointment, we went over to a fast food place for his lunch, and then went to the mall. As I routed him the directions, I realized I screwed up.

I was supposed to go to my college town with Allen on Monday to clean stuff up.

I start class on Monday.

I frantically messaged Allen and tried to come up with a solution, but he was super chill about it and said he’d go up alone. I really feel terrible about it, but it’s probably the best way, seeing as we’ve booked a move-out inspection and everything on tomor

He needed to buy a dress shirt for his job. I was feeling kind of lethargic at this point, and mall settings always tire me out, so I was several steps behind him at all times.

I got some coffee at a coffee stand, though.

On the topic of coffee, is there any greater invention? Back in college, and even now, I still try to hinge my purchases based on the greatest caloric value I could get from it. Calories per dollar. I’d want more for what I’m paying, right?

But with coffee, with coffee, I pay nearly 3 dollars for the illusion of being full. Coffee fills me right up. So I can have the happy feeling of being full while also the happy feeling of not stuffing myself. This might read more disorderly than I intended, but it’s definitely not.

Ok, digression over.

And, funnily enough, I wasn’t full off of my coffee. I asked Wally on the way back from the mall to stop at Taco Bell so I could grab a quick lunch.

We went over to his house, because I wanted to show him The Boys. He’s mentioned this before, but me writing The Boys in these posts is just pretty funny. It sounds like a weird euphemism. But nope, it’s just a show.

We watched the pilot, which he liked. He also wanted to watch Lost with me, so we watched the first episode of that, too. I love the premise, but I can’t lie, I get super easily spooked with shows like these.

He dropped me off at home, and I hung out for a brief spell with my family. I say brief because I was immediately on my feet again to hang out with Hana and Doug and grab dinner with them.

Hana wasn’t responding (my hypothesis was she had fallen asleep), so I just met up with Doug and waited with him while he ordered a burger. Hana messaged us as we were waiting for his order to come out, and I was right! she had taken a nap.

I admit it wasn’t a crazily discerning theory, but I’m glad to know I’m right in viewing Hana as a person who wouldn’t just ghost her friends if not for something as cosmically compelling as a nap.

We went to pick her up, and she and I got some sandwiches.

As we ate, we had a kind of interesting discussion about music taste. Doug’s theory (or at least, from what I could tell) is that music taste is kind of B.S. and that anyone can really like anything if not for their own inhibitions or biases, save for the cases where there simply is a lack of quality in a song. Hana said (again, not to put words in mouths) that there actually are some people and some genres that cannot mesh without any sort of preconceived notion going in.

And I dunno. I’m more with Doug here, because I have encountered songs that I thought I disliked, only to hear them in a different, detached setting and have my first thought be: Oh! I love this song. Music seems to be a familiarity thing for me.

What struck me about this conversation is that I think it can apply to nearly anything. It scared me.

ANYWAY, we went over to visit Wally at his workplace after eating our dinner. With nothing to do, Doug, Hana, and I went over to Doug’s place. He suggested we play Doki Doki Literature Club, and I am a freakin’ sucker for that game. Especially when Doug said that he knows very little about the game.

We even got to do voices for the characters. Granted, I think playing DDLC multiplayer and not voicing the characters would be incredibly dull, but I was still surprised that Doug was down for voicing characters and seemed invested. It was super heartwarming. I love that game.

We went home after the first major part of it. I chilled at home for a bit, but I had intended to watch some more of The Boys and Lost with Wally. So that happened too.

Basically, I was barely home today. It was a great day, but I can’t help from feeling that pull to go home and maximize time with my family at all moments of my time away from home.

There’s something about my life right now that feels like it’s on a timed detonator. I can’t pin what’s making it tick, though.
