Stain is such a great story, Alex and Sebastian have made so much progress understanding each other, and I'm excited for their relationship to continue to develop (not just physically... but okay really excited for that too!!)

Wondering what gave you the inspiration and what you like most about the Alex/Sebastian pairing, or any other thoughts about Stardew Valley as a fandom you want to share!

Honestly the thing that inspired me the most was just playing the game! :D

I have nearly 1800 hours in Stardew Valley, and that's like...what I would call a few hours to just daydream about all the characters. And me being the multi-shipping fiend that I am, I do also just like to imagine all the characters in relationships with each other.

I'm not someone who really cares about my farmer (or PC) in the central romance, which is why I don't write this in video games that have you as a player character! I didn't do that for Stuck on the Puzzle, or The Wind that Cuts the Night, or Palmarosa. I don't actually care as much about whoever I'm romancing, I care more about what relationships can happen between other characters.

And I think because I daydream about that, rather than my farmer character (or me) with the NPCs, that gives me like a lot of time to think of different things.

I started daydreaming about Sebastian as a top several years ago, he had that energy to me even like 2 years before I romanced him (the amount of times I've romanced Alex is criminal at this point). I sometimes imagined him with like Sam, but mostly Alex. I also imagined him being good goth literature friends with Elliott lol

I don't actually get that involved with the fandom in general. I've tried a few times, and some of the fanart is incredible (and the MODS omg), but I've never really loved any of the SDV fic that I've read (or more accurately: skimmed). I don't like farmer/NPC pairings. The vast majority of people wrote Sebastian as a bottom (or a fluffy vanilla top which is somehow worse) in m/m like 4-5 years ago and I'm too tired to check how much that's changed.

Alex actually gets a lot of hate in the fandom - at least amongst most of the queer players - and seeing a character who is a victim of child abuse treated like that just kind of left me with a bad taste in my mouth (it seemed to be based around Alex's initial rudeness, which doesn't last nearly as long as Shane's, who was hero-worshipped long before he got his whole storyline, because he wasn't romanceable for years).

So I really avoid the fandom, and I couldn't tell you who's writing the most popular fics or the most popular pairings or anything like that. I don't look into the tags, and almost all the fanart I've ever shared here or at @capillata has been shared to me by someone else first.

So yeah the answer is mostly just that I daydream a lot and I've had many many hours to do it in! :D

I like Alex/Sebastian as a pairing mostly because I've always just liked troped opposites in enemies to lovers. The jock vs. the goth nerd has been a long-term media troped opposition romance pairing, and even outside of romances, is often shown as 'oppositional.' Many people even have memories of that in their school experience.

To me, the idea that Alex is always shown as completely alone (sans Haley or grandparents), and that Sebastian is nearly always shown with friends when he's not being like... deeply moody in a goth way, was really fascinating to me. ConcernedApe was already working hard to say 'this isn't what you think it is' even within the game. Alex is the one who apologises to you for being so desperate and also unrealistic about his sporting/goth abilities. Sebastian is the one who already has a job and is incredibly social - he's in a band that regularly practices and even performs outside of his hometown, he regularly plays TTRPGs with friends, and he regularly goes to the bar and plays pool and hangs out with friends. He's not a 'loner nerd.' He is hands down the most popular and social person in Stardew Valley who you can romance, outside of Sam, who is the same amount of popular. Like, Sebastian is literally a socialite social butterfly who is successful and charismatic and rides a motorbike. Subversion pretty fucking successful on that trope :D

To me, the game gives us the set up to a bullies-to-lovers scenario just by giving us the trope, and then subverting the trope. I always kind of liked that, but could never imagine writing it, until I aged them up and had Sebastian and Alex both mentally kind of growing up a little.

Hi darling!! Okay, the nhl au is the most self indulgent thing I will ever write, if I manage to sneak a 5sos reference, I will hit all my 3 personality traits lol. But basically, goalies are fascinating, and I was researching goalies a few days back, mostly because of the bruins goalies (and because the devils desperately need a second goalie) because the bruins goalies have this thing, where they hug on the ice after every win and it's just, everything, I love that so much. But then I was taken by this vision of Buck as a goalie, because it makes SO MUCH SENSE. Dude would thrive with the head pats and being weird. So I was talking to @raleighrambles (who's been very helpful as I try to figure out how to put buddie on the nhl) about buddie as the bruins goalies, but Eddie is not goalie material. But Eddie's makes sense as a centre. And suddenly my brain had a very detailed au where they were on the development team together, but Eddie goes to the nhl when Buck chooses to go to college, but then Buck gets drafted into Eddie's team and they are a huge bromance on the league until they win the Stanley Cup and kiss on the ice. So I made this post about it fully expecting it to be just me talking to myself, but for some reason people reacted to it lol. But it's the type of thing I want to think about from the outside, so I made this poll asking if an nhl au told by a fan blog would be interesting and people liked it, so I am writing the stream of consciousness I have about this idea as Tumblr posts reacting to different games and interactions. The problem here will be making the code so the fic looks like a Tumblr blog, I'll have to figure that out. But yeah, buddie nhl au is me wanting to experience buddie as hockey players from the outside. The fun thing is that since I'm not trying to find their voice this is flowing a lot better than any of my other wips, so we'll see how it goes.

7. Lots of people don’t have a favorite food drug or crime when put on the spot, but what’s a food or drink drug or crime that your OC would never turn down if someone offered it to them?

...listen the conditions under which our Vi would refuse food are extremely specific but they do exist. Depending on the variant, you might hit that faster or slower, though it varies on the person offering it to her and the circumstances surrounding it. Wereweevil Vi, specifically, will absolutely fucking not refuse food under any circumstances, but she is an outlier and most other Vis actually have a point where they'll say no.

In terms of crimes and drugs... listen, Vi has a sense of self-preservation, and people absolutely don't just hand out drugs either For Free or For No Reason. Getting her to accept doing it is the hard part, if you're not already someone she trusts - what are you, a cop? Gonna tattle on her if she takes your offer? She does, actually, have a fair amount of trust in most of the Underground Tavern regulars, and would probably take up an offer for Illegal Actions if offered, because she trusts they won't try to fuck her over and will probably be willing to back her up if worst comes to worst.

If she's being, like, offered something to try and do, and it's someone she knows, then she has pretty decent assurance that her friends won't deliberately try and kill her, but she might still want to question if it's safe for her species, whether in a "this open job offer might not actually be open to a bug where almost everyone seeing her will immediately assume she's associated with the Bee Kingdom and might report them back to the queen" way or a or "whoever made this drug has never accounted for her species in test runs and there's a solid chance of her experiencing adverse side effects from it" way.

She's not entirely naive - she knows what she's doing, she knows it might be dangerous, and she's only really willing to assume the Tavern bugs have her best interests in mind because of experience. Unless she's being paid for it, she won't take up an offer from just anyone, and she has decent confidence in not getting fucked for taking the offer.

That said... in terms of drugs, the one (1) thing that she might consider getting from Random Unlicenced Sellers She Doesn't Know would be Daydream. Chronic pain reasons, as per usual. If it's getting to autumn and times she Knows that she's gonna run into more Bad Pain Days and her usual dealer's not got enough she might go hunting for another supplier, and in that case - yeah, she'll take random handouts and shady offers, and yeah, she'll probably get fucked over for it. Probably better than lying on the floor unable to do anything due to her body swinging a fire axe into her spinal cord that makes it feel like there's a white-hot rod of metal permanently impaled into her chitin and through half of her vital organs. She might reconsider if it's particularly shady and she's with Team Snakemouth, but being in horrible pain has a way of making you abandon your previous convictions in favor of not having to endure part of your body trying to violently kill you to death by making your entire nervous system fry itself with chronic pain.

With crime if you pay her enough then she'll do basically anything but for profit-free mischief, uhh. Listen if you walk up to her in a bar and say "hey, wanna vandalize something" then she'll probably agree before asking any further questions. Some day this will bite her in the dick but she will probably only learn "plan more when vandalizing things" from it.

Okay this is very specific to me and my love of schlocky 80's fantasy, and like to be honest I haven't actually read the original LOTR trilogy, but I grew up with the movies, but I've had this fic floating in the back of my mind that's basically a tavern that specifically serves as a little fantasy crossover setting. So this would kind of focus on Elric and Moonglum meeting with other fantasy characters because . So like, the first one would basically be Moonglum of Elwher and Samwise Gamgee having a pint together while Elric and Frodo are both recuperating upstairs in sickly, recuperative, consumptive states, and Sam being like, "Wow, you guys have a codependency problem."

Another ficlet which would be EXTREMELY niche to me would be Elric and Moonglum meeting Tiger and Del from the Sword-Dancer series, because that series has the whole "Soul-Drinking sword mechanic" as well, and Del and Elric would both be total edgelords at each others' throats while Moonglum and Tiger would just be chugging beers in the background.

AHSFAK someone is excited for my crazy Adrien/Ginny fic?! Haha, it's so niche I can't believe it. Yes! It is on the list. It is you don't say you love me so i'll do the same.

I think last time I talked about it, I didn't make it clear that It's like 90% Harry/Ginny and Adrien/Marinette but Adrien/Ginny happens because...uh...Harry doesn't come back after the forest... (don't kill me), so it's mostly a fic about enemies to friends (GoF to HBP), and then war in the castle (DH), then grief and the finding love again in tragedy (post-war). Because...that's how my brain decided to work hahaha.

Sadly no new snippets, but I have a playlist for this fic, and this is my favorite song for it because it's post-war, with Adrien and Ginny grieving their lost loves and are reluctant to acknowledge their potential feeling for each other and the lyrics KILL ME:

In your swap AU, are the Mario brothers guys who wear princess dresses as their everyday outfits?

Partially! My swap AU switches the Mario Bros., and their counterparts, with the princesses! [Peach, Daisy, Shokora, and Rosalina] Specifically, Luigi takes Peach's role of the Mushroom Kingdom's ruler, Mario takes Daisy's role as Princess of Sarasaland, while Peach takes Mario's role as main character and Daisy as a secondary hero. I do mix the story up a bit, since here Peach and Daisy are matched with Mario and Luigi respectively, they just don't typically rescue their partner X] Wario swaps with Shokora, specifically True-Form Shokora cause she's the best /lh, and is cursed into a cat form+shadowy blob for a couple thousand years. Since Shokora technically dies, or at least goes to heaven, at the end of her game, I'm still deciding on whether Wario's kingdom is completely forgotten by the time he regains his true form or if he revives it due to still being alive and well.

And Waluigi swaps with Rosalina! Depending on where I take Wario [tbh he probably IS already the most different seeing as I keep Wario around hehee], Waluigi def gets the most changes as a Princess. I change the story of Galaxy a bit for him because i'll admit I'm biased. [still hammering it, but to summarize Peach fights him as like. a midboss with two stages before fighting a main boss on the Observatory, and 'post-game' she requests for a Warp Pipe to be connected from the castle to the Observatory so Waluigi can visit whenever, instead of just every 1000 years.]

To directly answer the question, the Bros. do wear dresses as everyday outfits, but not just for fun or anything X]

This is one of the earlier [and unfinished oops] designs for Mario, specifically his coronation dress. I decided against the long gloves since 1. he swaps with Daisy 2. he's in Sarasaland and 3. I just think short gloves fit his character better X]

This is Luigi's coronation dress! Designed after a 1-Up Mushroom cause he's green and rules the Mushroom Kingdom lol. I drew it on a draft of a timeline I made for my AU, since I did map out some events. Mostly cause I dumped angst on Waluigi sorry pal :[ BUT!! Anyway Luigi is the last one to officially be a princess chronologically, maybe a bit ironic seeing as he's the fella who started my whole AU!

I have a couple different ideas for how Mario and Peach meet, and how Daisy and Luigi meet, etc etc, and this is one of them! Finding out your bestie in distress has a cute brother that you have to beat in a tennis match wasn't what Peach was expecting for that day probably X]

five favorite fics you would recommend to someone !!! :))

The question is -- TUA or Other? I've recced TUA fics before (HERE), so let's do other fandoms. Which maybe is less helpful to your interests but let's spread some love. In no particular order, these are all fics I've read multiple times:

Walking with a Ghost (saemay) - Being Human UK - I love both the American and UK versions of Being Human, they've got different charms (basic premise is a werewolf, ghost, and vampire all live together and supernatural problems ensue) but the UK version is one of the only shows I've seen successfully pull off a complete cast swap, and I was so mad they ended the show after just one season with the new trio because I adored them. This fic (and its sequel, Running with a Ghost), picks up after S4 (either ignoring or written before S5 happened) and writes a whole alternate ending for the show with fantastic plot and intrigue and spot on characterization. I have been thinking about what they explored with Hal (my beloved) for years. Highly recommend the show, highly recommend these fics - they deserve all the love.

Sorrowful and Immaculate Hearts (unpretty) - DC - Unpretty is a big name in the DC fandom (I assume, anyway, she's the one with all the best Batman headcanons floating around tumblr). Her version of Bruce is my canon Bruce, she balances his heart with his dark and his weird so fucking well. I linked the whole series here because it's all fantastic, but my favorites are Third Wheel, Christmas in Kansas, Anti-Social. Mind the tags on some of the fics in the series.

Demonology and the Tri-Phasic Model of Trauma: An Integrative Approach (Nmn) - Good Omens - Crowley goes to therapy! No one look at this too hard for Rob inspiration I read this years before him and it really is a good idea. Really fun way to do a character exploration of Crowley and Aziraphale. Realistic dialogue and interactions and ups and downs, a great ride.

A Memory of Eden (ImprobableDreams9000) - Good Omens - This is a fic that made me cry and there are two specific scenes I still think about, years after reading it. Basic premise is Aziraphale rescues Crowley from Heaven and falls to human as a result, and the two of them living out Aziraphale's mortal years together. The ending is happy but the journey to get there gutted me a couple times.

The Length and Breadth of Fury Road (sacrificethemtothesquid) - Mad Max Fury Road - The summary of the fic is simply "Max leaves, Furiosa stays." and that is the fic. This is a 250k word epic details the rebuilding of the Citadel and the violent problems the Wives and Vuvalini face in doing so and, more importantly, the slow, slow journey for Furiosa (and Max) in figuring out how to be people again.
