The Yankees of the 1950s were as well-known for their high-octane partying as their feats on the field. One infamous incident happened on May 16, 1957.
To celebrate Billy Martin's 29th birthday, a group of six Yankees, including Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, and Hank Bauer, and their wives, went to the Copacabana. They had already been to two other clubs, and were pretty buzzed.
A bowling team from Washington Heights, carousing above their station in life (that is a JOKE, no nasty notes please) was also present—and similarly sloshed. The headliner that night was Sammy Davis, Jr. Shortly after the Yanks entered, the bowlers began to heckle Davis, hurling racial epithets. The ballplayers asked the bowlers to cool it, and matters quickly went downhill.
What exactly happened was a mystery for decades. At any rate, a fight ensued. One of the bowling team, Edwin Jones, a 42-year old delicatessen owner, claimed that the big and beefy Bauer had socked him. He did go to Roosevelt Hospital with a concussion, a fractured jaw and a broken nose.
"Whitey or Yogi grabbed me and said, 'Get out of here,'" Bauer said later. "So I did, and we go back to the hotel. It's 2 or 2:30 in the morning by then, and around 4:30 the phone rings, and a writer tells me, 'Some guy claims you hit him.' I was booked, fingerprinted and walked down the street with a detective, and it made me feel like a criminal."
"Nobody did nothin' to nobody" was how Yogi summed it all up. But the Yankees were fined and Jones brought a lawsuit against Bauer, which was later dismissed. And later that season, Martin was traded (the team's owner thought he was a bad influence on Mantle, who was clearly the future of the franchise), causing much bitterness and leading to his slide as a player.

Above: Mickey Mantle, Billy Martin, Hank Bauer, and Charlene Friede Bauer after a grand jury cleared Bauer of assault charges from the fight at the Copa. Photo: Harry Harris for the AP via the NY Times
It wasn't until three years ago that another version of events came to light. Joey Silvestri, a bouncer at the Copa, told the New York Times that "[t]here were no Yankees involved in the fight. Nobody threw a punch but me." He said he'd socked Jones twice, and the victim's head had hit a wall. "Hank Bauer and Billy Martin have always been maligned, when they're really the good guys. They were protecting Sammy Davis that night. If that happened today, they'd build a monument to them."
Whether Silvestri was telling the truth or just protecting his pals, we'll never know. Everyone involved is now dead.

It's been two months and five days since I've started Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Today, I finished the very last episode. (I know I'm making this more dramatic than it is, but idc)
So, it's been a lot. So many good, great things, but also a lot of weird, disturbing things. Characters I loved all the way through (Hunter, Piper, Davis, Sousa, every Koenig (I think)); Characters I almost loved all the way through, except for a few episodes where they made some choices I didn't agree with or so (Fitz, Simmons, Bobbi, Coulson, Daisy, May, Deke, Enoch); Characters about whom I wouldn't say I loved them but I still liked them very much (Mack, YoYo, Trip, Mace, Flint); Characters who weren't exactly the good guys but still were somewhat likable to some extent (Ward, Radcliffe, Cal, Gordon, Jiaying, Sunil Bakshi, Robbie, Kora), and of course Characters who were written to be hated (The Malicks, Garrett, Whitehall, Lucy Bauer, Ellen Nadeer, Ivanov, Kassius, the Hales, Izel, Sybil) and everyone who I don't know in which category to put, or what to name their category.
I am so glad, that the phase in season five where I couldn't stand Daisy, was over as soon as season six started. I was surprised by how MUCH I loved her in season seven.
Season six was definitely my least favorite (and of what I've read I'm not the only one with that opinion). But I can't say it enough, how much I loved the parts in space of Piper, Davis, Daisy, and Jemma (and later only Daisy and Jemma) searching for Fitz and Enoch. I can't think of one single moment right now from that space part, that I didn't like. But I really hated Izel and this whole shrike thing, and Sarge and his team, so I was really glad when season seven started.
Because season seven started off just absolutely great! I already said that I loved their clothes. Sending Jemma in as Peggy Carter in the 50s was perfection. Daisy saying she already has a sister to save, her name is Jemma Simmons. May falling through the ceiling, punching Sybil and saying "The Cavalry". Fitzsimmons naming their daughter after a star. Piper's wish from Jemma being getting Davis back. The team meeting up (at least) once a year to catch up and not losing each other. All of that is perfection.
There is so much more I want to write about, but first, I can't put everything into words (right now), and second, this post would be way too long.
I am so glad that I started Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and I'm even more glad that I continued watching even though the first five episodes or so didn't convince me at all, and at first I only stayed because of the characters.
I am thankful for everyone involved, but especially those who decided that these wonderful actors would get the role they got, because honestly? I couldn't have asked for a cast that was more fitting.
I will start re-watch soon (at least in parts), because friends of mine started watching, but I have yet to convince them that it gets better than it currently is (they are in episode four).

I have created a huge and sortable database from the Epstein Flight Logs
All this Epstein Flight Log Data is easier to view and look at on my other blog Tumblr Sucks at times: this is the entire epstein flight log names, dates, passenger lists, locations, etc etc. I even plotted all the locations on a google map. https://tidbitsbyscotty.blogspot.com/2023/12/epstein-flight-log-information.html
This info was shared to me the other day on Twitter. Here are the links and information I have created from this list.  I assume that Law Enforcement Agencies, Political Leaders, and anyone else has done the same with the information provided.  If not, here is the data from the original files sorted by: Names, Dates, Flight Departure Locations, Flight Arrival Locations, Google Map Locations of the Departure and Arrival Sites, Number Of Passengers, etc.
Author Notes:
I am providing the information just as I received it.  I’ve just made the information easy to sort, easy to read, and most importantly searchable by anyone who may find this on the internet.
I am providing this information for FREE; I will accept donations from anyone who has found this information useful and would like to donate to Scotty feel free to donate at:  https://cash.app/$StlScotty

With lists like this we could search for missing kids / people from those areas and possibly uncover human trafficking by location.  Surely Law Enforcement is doing stuff like this right?????

Disney Blu Ray review 101 Dalmations
Requested by @goodanswerfoxmonster I am delighted to talk about 101 Dalmatians
Tumblr media
This 1961 film follows Pongo (Rod Taylor ) and Perdita (Lisa Daniels and Cate Bauer .....So Lisa Daniels recorded some of the movie ,had to leave cause she got married,soCate Bauer recorded the rest, and no we dont know who recorded which lines ) two Dalmatians who are pet (Though they view it the other way around ) of Roger (Ben Wright ) and Anita (Lisa Davis ).Pongo and Perdita become the proud parents of 15 puppies who are stolen by two crooks Jasper ( J Pat O Maley ) and Horace (Fredrick Worlock ) working for Anitas old friend Cruella De Vill (Betty Lou Gerson ) ,who has nefarious plans to mak a Dog Skin coat
So this is one of my favorite Walt era Disney films .I have massive nostalgia for it ,I named my first dog Pongo (He was a basset not a Dalmatian but whatever ,when your a kid dog is dog ) and the more I have seen it the more I love it ,I think it gets better with age
I like how sketchy and stylistic it looks, really reflecting the at the tim contemprary early 60's london setting .The film opens with an adorable meet cute between George and Anita orchestrated by Pongo. I love the voice work of Rod Taylor as Pongo (And am amused it was recorded when he was mostly known for radio but due to how long animation takes released after his star making role in the Time Machine ,so the film accidently has a star lead ) as well as the great vocal performances by Ben Wright ,Lis Davis ,J PAt O Malley ,Martha Wentwoth , and David Frankham .I find the main characters likeable , I adore the side characters ,especially Sergent Tibbs a heroic cat character (Rare for Disney )who is one of the most underrated Disney characters ever .The animation is really good,I especially like the technique they use for cars ,which leads to a pretty awesome car chase finale .There is some great comedy (Love the Whats My Line parody ) and its just adorable, good movie if your a dog person which I am
However I gotta talk about the BEST aspect of the movie :Cruella De Ville, one of Disneys greatest villains. She works on two levels; When your a child she is FRIGHTENING ,with the fact she kind of looks like a walking corpse ,her fits of rage and the fact she wants to murder puppies....And while she is still intimidating ,the older I get the more I see the comedy of her ,she is so over the top vile ,she is such a over dramatic diva I kind of love her .The part that makes me laugh is when her pen isnt working and she just screams"Blast this pen! Blast this WRETCHED WRETCHED PEN !!!".She is so extra ,and is a masterpiece of character animation by Marc Davis ,animating possibly his best character ever ,with this thin figure engulfed in this giant coat .Also much love to Betty Lou Gerson who sounds like she is having a ball ,and no disrespect to any actress to play the role, especially Glenn Close and Susanne Blakeslee cause they were great too,but Betty Lou Gerson is the definitive CRuella
So I do have one issue with the film and thats after the dogs escape Hell Hall ,and before the climatic car chase the film kind of grinds to a halt for me . Also I have always had mixed emotions on Cruellas ending ,cause I both like it and dont
Overall I love this movie ,its such a blast to watch

Everything I read in February
Gravity - Tal Bauer: sweet! I liked that the conflict wasn’t homophobia but it was still genuinely distressing
The Pursuit of... - Courtney Milan: boring! Forgettable! Too many Hamilton references, authors please stop doing them.
1919 - Eve L. Ewing: a masterpiece! Genuinely great and impactful and a great accessible poetry collection.
Three Swedish Mountain Men - Lily Gold: definitely a book! There were words and characters!
Citizen: An American Lyric - Claudia Rankine: very upsetting and very good! I shouldn’t have tried this on audiobook first because i retained a lot more when I actually read it.
Astrid Parker Doesn’t Fail - Ashley Herring Blake: cute! trope-y but not in a bad way! Astrid is a much more interesting character than Delilah, fight me about it.
Lakewood - Megan Giddings: mostly fine! Weird and sinister and I wish it would’ve cranked the volume all the way up if you know what I mean.
Are Prisons Obsolete? - Angela Y. Davis: genius! Clear and concise and a perfectly presented argument.
Life on Mars - Tracy K Smith: very good! I wish it was more cohesive but there’s some great stuff in there.
One Hundred Nights of Hero - Isabel Greenberg: dreamy and magical and immersive! So fun!
The Final Revival of Opal and Nev - Dawnie Walton: riveting! Better than Daisy Jones IMO!
What it Means When a Man Falls from the Sky - Lesley Nneka Arimah: very sad but very good! Confused at the blurbs that call it “playful” because wtf
Wilder Girls - Rory Power: disappointing! There’s a relationship in here that makes absolutely no sense! What even happened in this book
I’m almost done with Autobiography of Red by Anne Carson, gimme like 2 hours and I’m gonna be shrieking about this book

On YA
I will say, the one thing that bookshelf tours (at least recently) allllllways disappoint me about is that basically no one has contemporary YA anymore, except maybe a handful of the very boring and over-hyped bestsellers from the 2010s, and then there’s me out here with my 150+.
Which I’ve decided to share since I made the effort of typing it up (per yesterday’s post), so if you’ve always had the burning question “which 21st century YA novels does Televinita, a 30-something, own exactly,” today is your lucky day.
(DISCLAIMER LIST: noted ‘historical’ on a few while seeing if I had enough for their own area (no). These aren’t all necessarily ones I want to keep forever, just the one that are currently here. Also this doesn’t include any books I bought between about 2014 and 2020 that I haven’t read, which I’m sure comprise a not-insignificant amount. and my handful of Tamora Pierce & Ransom Riggs titles have been separated out because I’d put them w/ my HP and other series books.)
OK, that’s enough disclaimers, enjoy your skim maybe someday I’ll get ambitious and add authors, or at least letter separations.
