David Hammons invitation to Icestallation, a 1986 exhibition at JAM of a three-year-old snowball, hand-printed on silvery paper with an inked ball of some kind? In her book One Work: Bliz-aard Ball Sale (2019) where this was first published, Elena Filipovic speculates that Hammons used a tennis ball, but there are no seams, so maybe a sponge?
Anyway, Filipovic's researcher Alhena Kotshof found this in the Ephemera File in MoMA's Library, where it was first scanned by David Senior. It suggests a date of 3/13/83 for Hammons' Bliz-aard Ball Sale. Except another example of the invitation, and the show's press release, have a date of 13 February 1983. [thanks artist David Horvitz for the impetus to search this up.]
[update i added a blog post about it]
