Hello, I prepared some statistics to give you a short overview of Ghost's amazingly successful 2022. It is based on data I collected between 22/12/2021 and 22/12/2022.

The big Ghost event of 2022 was of course the release of the band's fifth album, IMPERA.

Since March 11, it has sold nearly 500,000 copies, won the American Music Award for Favorite Rock Album and received a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance ('Call Me Little Sunshine').

Within the first week of its release, the album reached #2 on the Billboard 200 (ranking the 200 most popular music albums and EPs in the United States) and ranked in the top 20 best-selling albums in 19 countries across the world:

#1 in Sweden, Austria, Germany, Finland, Spain

#2 in US, UK, Belgium, Norway, Netherlands

#3 in Australia, Canada

#5 in Switzerland, Ireland, France

#7 in Poland

#8 in Hungary

#12 in Denmark, Portugal

#20 in Italy

IMPERA is Ghost’s best charting album to date.

It goes without saying that the viral success of Mary On A Cross on TikTok brought in a lot of new fans this year, but the magnitude of it becomes even more astonishing if you look at numbers.

On this graph, I marked a few events that resulted in a noticeable spike in the number of monthly listeners on Spotify, including the approximate time when MOAC began to gain traction on TikTok. As you can see, nothing, not even the release of a new album, gave the band as much attention as the 3-year old song suddenly raising in popularity on one single platform.

Between end of July and beginning of October, the number of monthly listeners on Spotify skyrocketed from 2.5 million to 12 million. This is a 380% increase.

Although the numbers have been in decline since then, it appears that for the past month they have stayed at a steady 9 million. As of today (Dec 22, 2022) the exact number is 9,110,996. Exactly a year ago (Dec 22, 2021) the number was 1,999,951. A hefty 355% increase in only a year.

Some other milestones and fun facts:

On June 7, Cirice, Dance Macabre, and Square Hammer were all certified Gold by the RIAA for sales of 500,000 units in the USA. Following the viral success, Mary On A Cross was also certified Gold on November 20.

The band's most liked post on Instagram this year was a video of Papa throwing the first pitch at the White Sox game (273,241 likes).

The episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live where Ghost performed Call Me Little Sunshine was watched by around 1.3 million people.

In September, Ghost reached over 12 million monthly listeners on Spotify and was the 450th most streamed artist globally - that's 450 out of over 11 million!

As of today with over 1.6 billion accumulated streams Ghost is one of the 1,000 most successful artists on the platform of all time (currently #808).

On September 11, Mary On A Cross peaked at #1 in the Viral Hits chart on Spotify in 54 countries across the world.

It was also the highest charting Swedish song on the platform in 2022, peaking globally at #31.

At this point I think it’s safe to declare that Ghost’s global success reached unprecedent heights this year and even allowed them to officially join the ranks of mainstream artists. With all of the above, 70 completed shows this year and many more to come in 2023, and with media of the likes of The Wall Street Journal proclaiming Ghost “the next generation of arena stars,” it looks like that the band is well on the way to become one of the biggest rock acts of this century. Not bad for a side project started by one Swede in his bedroom somewhere in Linköping.

Let us hope 2023 will be as devilishly good!

Josei Yuri Manga 'She Loves Cook, and She Loves to Eat' Volume 2 Released

On March 21, Yen Press released the second volume of Sakaomi Yuzaki's slice of life Yuri series She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat (Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna).

The manga follows Nomoto, who likes to cook to destress. One day, she finds herself making more food than she can possibly eat by herself. And so, she invites her neighbor Kasuga over for an impromptu dinner date.

The publisher describes the second volume:

Kasuga and Nomoto promised to spend their Christmas and New Years together. Now, they find themselves learning more about each others families through the food sent by Nomotos mother. Cute character bento, salmon and rice, stollen, fruit sandwiches, roast beef... Nomoto and Kasuga warm up to each other over a cheerful holiday season.

She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat is serialized digitally by ASCII Media Work’s COMIC it. ASCII Media Works publishes three volumes of the series in Japanese.

A live-action television drama adaptation of the series aired from November to December 2022. It was broadcast for 10 episodes. Yui Matsusaki and Hiroyuki Nakata direct the drama. It stars Manami Higa and Emi Nishino.

The manga has received mostly positive reception, in 12 and 13th place in the 2021 and 2022 Next Manga Awards, respectively. Rebecca Silverman gave the second volume an overall rating of A- on Anime News Network, and Erica Friedman of Okazu awarded it a 9/10.

Temari was pregnant on her wedding day: A Naruto Timeline analysis

[usual disclaimer: I love studying canon timeline but no one's headcanons have to be bound to it just do what you like bye]

Note: for simplicity, I gave years numbers, the Kyuubi attack/Naruto's birth are in 2000 and the other dates are based on that

Fact 1: Gaara is at least 20

In Gaara Hidden, one of the councilmen tells Gaara "You've steadily grown, and reached the age of twenty" and Temari and Shikamaru are in the process of choosing their wedding date in this novel as well, so the Wedding has to happen later than that.

We know from the data book that Gaara is from the same school year as Naruto, and born in January, so he is born in January 2001. (In Japan, the school year is from April to March of the next year and the children in the same class are the ones born during the same school year, not civil year. If you want to know why I say that data books are based on school years, not civil years, flick me a request and I will happily do so! Just not here because it'd be too long.)

We can conclude that the wedding is in February 2021 or later.

Fact 2: Shikadai graduates 15 years after the 4th war

There is no indication that I've found in canon material about when the Boruto events happen, but we can read in this interview that Naruto Gaiden happens 15 years after the last chapter of Naruto. (We will have to assume that "last chapter" here means chapter 699, not 700, or else all the new gen has spent 15 years being teenagers at the academy.) Naruto Gaiden opens with Shino telling the class (Shikadai is there) that the graduation exam will be in a week.

The issue here is that chapter 699 happens in October (Minato says happy birthday to Naruto in chapter 691 the same day, and we know from the data books he was born in October) and the graduation is presumably in March (again, that's one the school year ends, and Itachi is also said to graduate "in the springtime" in Itachi Shinden). So it could mean either 15,5 years later, or 14,5 years later.

The 4th War happens in October 2017 (Naruto turns 17 during it, that's the age the data book gives us).

We can conclude that Shikadai graduates either in March 2032 or 2033.

Fact 3: Shikadai graduates at 11

It is the minimum age as per the law (it is said in Itachi Shinden, this law is made shortly before the Rookie 9 graduate: “now that it was a time of peace [...] it was no longer possible to graduate in a short time [...] no matter how talented Sasuke was, he couldn't become a ninja until he was eleven years old”).

It is the age at which all the Rookie 9 graduate (they are said to turn 12 during the first year of naruto and 13 during the second, again, I can give more details about data book ages in another post if needed).

The naruto wiki tells me that the Naruto data book says he is 12 for the Chuunin Exam, but the scan I have of the data book do not seem to indicate any age that I can find?

So this is not 100% a fact that I have found a canon material number about, but it's the most logical possibility (he's not allowed to graduate younger, there's no reason he would graduate older, this is what happened to the previous gen, and this is what the whole fandom seems to believe, so, yeah).

Similarly, everyone seems to agree that his birthday is September 23, I have not found where that comes from yet, but I have to assume it does come from somewhere. If you know please tell me!

[Edit: apparently it comes from a bonus calendar in the Shounen Jump issue 6-7 of 2019 but I haven't found a scan yet.]

We can conclude that Shikadai was born in either September 2020 or 2021, depending on the graduation date.

Conclusion

If Gaara Hiden and the wedding were in 2021, Shikadai cannot have been born in 2020, so he has to be born in September 2021. If we imagine that Gaara Hiden takes place right after Gaara's birthday (the earliest date) and then Temari and Shikamaru got married on the month that followed, Temari would have been 2 months pregnant, and this is the minimum she could have been.

‘Loki’ Season 2 Debuts With Record 3-Day Audience For Disney+

[Uh, surprise, anyone? Loki has been Marvel's/Disney's best performing show on Disney+ and has been also widely acknowledged to be the best Marvel show since the launch of Disney+]

The God of Mischief is taking over Disney+ once again.

Loki Season 2 debut on Thursday, tallying 10.9M global views in its first three days on the platform.

That makes it the streamer’s second most-watched season premiere this year, coming in behind March’s Season 3 premiere of The Mandalorian.

A view for Disney is defined as a total stream time divided by runtime available. Disney never released data on viewership for The Mandalorian Season 3. However, according to Nielsen, the first episode drew about 823M viewing minutes in its first few days on Disney+.

Loki‘s audience seems particularly strong, given that the last time Disney put out viewership data for the premiere of the latest Star Wars spinoff Ahsoka, it chose to tout the episode’s five-day window.

This makes sense, considering Loki was one of Marvel‘s most successful Disney+ series from the get go. It was the first of them to get a second season and, as of May 2022, it was the most-watched Marvel series on Disney+ to date.

When it premiered in June 2021, Loki had the most successful first day of any Marvel series on Disney+ drawing 890K U.S. households, Samba TV reported at the time. It continued to smash records throughout its entire first season run.

Loki Season 2 is expected to run through November 9.

Like for example Isaac and Pickle officially got together on episode 9 posted on March 4, 2024, would you consider making an Isaac audio every March 4 of them celebrating or wtv?

Nope!

The official dates when characters and Listeners formed relationships aren't dependent on when they're uploaded. In Isaac's case, his storyline (for the most part) is set in 2021 and remains that way until the finale where there's been a time-jump, seemingly for Christmas of that year.

And in general, all audios are uploaded on Patreon before their YouTube release, so unless a specific date is stated in the audio itself, there will be no anniversary audios~

2,000-Year-Old Bronze Coins Unearthed in Xi'an, China

A new batch of relics, including thousands of bronze coins, have been unearthed from the remains of a mint dating back more than 2,000 years in Xi'an, the capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

Apart from the coins of different face values and shapes, more than 100 ash pits, three house ruins, 11 kiln ruins, 18 wells, and three smelting and casting ruins have been unearthed.

Judging from their shapes and structures, all relics date back to the Western Han Dynasty (202 BC-AD 25). Some belonged to the short-lived period under the reign of Wang Mang between AD 9 and 23, also called the Xin Dynasty, according to Zhang Jianfeng, a researcher with the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).

Zhang said the mint was a national-level one. Xi'an used to be the capital of the Western Han Dynasty when the city was called Chang'an.

In December 2015, archaeologists from the CASS Institute of Archaeology and Xi'an's institute of cultural relics protection and archaeology jointly launched the excavation work of the site.

The latest round of excavation started in March 2021.

The discoveries are of great significance to the study of coinage technology and the changes in monetary and economic policies of that time, said Zhang.

Taylor Swift’s third re-recorded album, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), has earned over 575,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first four days of release (July 7-10), according to initial reports to Luminate — marking the biggest week for any album in 2023. Of that sum, album sales comprise over 400,000 copies – the largest sales week for an album this year, too.

Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is a re-recorded version of Swift’s 2010 No. 1 Billboard 200 studio album Speak Now. The 22-track re-recorded edition includes new recordings of the original album’s 14 standard tracks, along with bonus cuts and previously unreleased “From the Vault” recordings. Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) follows Swift’s re-recorded Red and Fearless albums, released in 2021. Both debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

If Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) debuts at No. 1 on the July 22-dated Billboard 200 chart (which reflects the tracking week ending July 13), Swift’s count of No. 1 albums will rise to 12, surpassing Barbra Streisand (with 11 leaders) for the most No. 1 albums among female artists. Swift would also tie Drake for the third-most No. 1s among all acts, with only The Beatles (19) and Jay-Z (14) ahead of them. The year’s largest sales week was held by the debut frame of Stray Kids’ 5-STAR with 235,000 copies sold in the week ending June 8, as reflected on the June 17-dated charts.

Sales: With over 400,000 sold in only four days, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) already has the largest sales week for any album since Swift’s own last studio album, Midnights, debuted with 1.14 million copies sold last year (week ending Oct. 27, 2022; as reflected on the Nov. 5-dated Billboard charts).

Vinyl sales comprise over half of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’s sales – as the three-LP set has sold over 225,000 copies on wax. The latter marks the second-largest sales week for a vinyl album in the modern era (since Luminate began electronically tracking sales in 1991). It is second only to the first week of Midnights’ vinyl LP, with 575,000 sold in its opening frame. Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is available in three color variants on vinyl – orchid marbled, violet marbled and a Target-exclusive lilac marbled color.

The remainder of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) sales is comprised of CDs, digital album download purchases and cassette tape sales.

Streaming: The collected 22 songs on Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) generated more than 200 million on-demand official streams in the U.S. July 7-10, according to Luminate. The most-streamed tune on the album, by audio on-demand official streams, is the “from the vault” cut “I Can See You (Taylor’s Version),” with over 13 million on-demand official audio streams in those four tracking days.

Happy 34th birthday to Princess Eugenie of York!

Born 23 March 1990, Eugenie Victoria Helena is the younger daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah, Duchess of York, and a niece of King Charles III. At birth, she was 6th in the line of succession to the British throne and is now 11th.

Born in Portland Hospital, London, Eugenie attended St George's School and Marlborough College before studying at Newcastle University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in English literature and history of art. Eugenie also works privately with a number of charitable organisations, including Children in Crisis and Anti-Slavery International.

The Duke of York's Office at Buckingham Palace announced the engagement of Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank on 22 January 2018. The couple had been dating for seven years, and were engaged on vacation in Nicaragua. Ok, back on my BS here. I'm working on trying to narrow down when the present day scenes of season 5 of The Amelia Project takes place. I have vague ideas of some early season timing but there's some hand-wavey bits. Here's what I have so far, which I'm sure perfectly aligned with everything Pip and Oystein has planned, right?

February 14, 2012 - Julia Thorpe fakes her death and joins The Amelia Project as Alvina Wright

Alvina mentions in 12 Deaths Day 1 she joined in 2012

Alvina mentions in Episode 24 that it’s her 5 year anniversary with TAP

We can narrow this down a little further looking at some weather data. In Episode 56 - Curtain, they mention that it's a warm evening in Paris. That means we're probably in the Summer.

We also know that, in Scotland, Jackie and Mia are absolutely freezing. I figure they're probably around Cairngorms National Park and I ended up with this weather data.

Alvina also references turning 30 "next November," though it's not really relevant and I just came upon that info. But anyway, I'm thinking our best bet is either Late May to Early June or, more likely, I think, late September 2021. This would put the events of Season 4 over the course of September. I haven't tried to check the timeframe for season 3 but the Panaragua adventures were likely in August then.

I’ve been curious about any relationships and linkages between SMA title, Alba and Jinx. Finally, I’ve managed to discover Chris’ influencer profile on one marketing platform (note: Carbons Dating The Web estimated creation date: 2023-06-01).

There are some interesting facts and figures in the case study:
