I sketched out one of my favorite scenes of Twin Suns at the Door of Night by achrmy .
Loved the concept of Leia being the one to purify Vader’s red Kyber crystal. Lovely fanfic, it played around a bit with certain things like Vader’s relationship with both Luke and Leia and I loved it so much. Please give it a read!

Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 2): General Bracket Match 29
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sabé | Identity: bisexual | Media: Queen’s Trilogy/Darth Vader comics
Sabé, born Tsabin, was a member of a family of musicians who set their daughter on the same path. However, she was only skilled enough to ever have a supporting role and instead volunteered to be one of Queen Amidala’s handmaidens. She became Padmé’s most trusted operative, pretending to be the Queen during the Invasion of Naboo. After Padmé’s term as queen ended, she remained her operative and worked with Tonra, a member of Naboo’s security force, to attempt to free slaves on Tatooine. They eventually made contact with the White Suns, a Tatioone slave liberation movement. When the Clone Wars began, Sabé once again acted as Padmé’s decoy when Padmé was away from Coruscant conducting an investigation. There she learned Anakin and Padmé were married. However, to make sure Padmé didn’t have her closest confidant, Palpatine blasted Sabé’s brain with the Dark Side until she didn’t want to work closely with Padmé anymore. Sabé spent the rest of the war helping the White Suns.
After Padmé died, Sabé founded an organization known as the Amidalans- a rebel cell consisting of Naboo (including some of the other handmaidens), who sought to avenge Padmé. They attempted to assassinate Vader (who they deemed responsible) on multiple occasions. Sabé focused on deception, preventing to work with Vader to find Padmé’s killer and infiltrating Crimson Dawn.  until she figured out that Vader was Anakin. Remembering how Padmé’s last words (which had been recorded) was “There’s still good in [Anakin]”, she decided to actually become Vader’s operative. Her given reason was that the Empire and Vader did bring order to the galaxy, but it is just as likely she is following her queen’s last order to attempt to bring the man she loved back to the light. She remained by Vader’s side even when her fellow handmaidens came to “rescue” her. Her last appearance in the comics was Vader abandoning her on a beach until she could decide to fully commit to the Dark Side (emotionally speaking). Sabé had crushes on a handful of people and even a romantic relationship with Tonra, but her most important was her romantic love for Padmé. These feelings were requited, with Queen’s Hope creating a love triangle where Sabé represented ideology and duty and Anakin was selfish love. As we know, Padmé chose Anakin, but a deciding factor was Sabé’s self esteem being temporarily shattered by Palpatine. Her wider moral view seems to have degraded after spending over two decades focusing on avenging Padmé instead of joining the wider Rebellion. However, even working for the Empire, she hasn’t gone completely evil yet- doing things like pretending to kill a bunch of refugees to gain their loyalty instead of actually killing them.
Vernestra Rwoh | Identity: aroace | Media: the High Republic Phase I
Gifted Kid SyndromeTM. Vernestra Rwoh is primarily a character in the middle grade High Republic novels (as appearing in the YA Out of the Shadows). A prodigy, she solves the problem with adults having to be out of the picture in middle grade novels by being one of the youngest Jedi Knights ever- being knighted at 15 after an unusually short term as Stellan Gios’ padawan also from an abnormally young age. As a padawan, she would fall unconscious when traveling through hyperspace and have visions, something that resolved itself on its own (unknown to any of the characters, this was an unrealized ability to navigate hyperspace). Following a vision from the Force, she secretly modified her lightsaber to become a light-whip.
She was on the Steady Wing, a diplomatic ship, that blew up and killed all of the adults. Working with the prodigious inventor Avon Starros, Honesty Weft, and the padawan Imri Canatros, they survived and captured the Nihil who sabotaged the ship. She also talked Imri down from the Dark Side and became his new master, despite their similar ages. During the Attack on the Republic Fair, she joined Ram Jamoram and Lula Talisola, who both looked up to her, in restoring communications on the planet. Later, she and her Padawan investigated a gravity well generator the Nihil were working on. During that time, her hyperspace visions were reactivated by Mari San Tekka. She was with the old woman when she finally managed to die, denying the Nihil any new Paths. She gave Venrestra one final path.
Later, following visions of Avon being in danger, she and Imri found that the Nihil were kidnapping children to be made into recruits on the planet Dalna. By leading the Jedi of the Dalna temple to the camp, they were able to alert Starlight Beacon and evacuate the planet before it was geologically destabilized by the Nihil’s kyber crystal experiments. She was in the top part of Starlight Beacon when it was destroyed and participated in the group effort to hold it together. She presumably escaped.
As a prodigy, she had the maturity and serenity expected of a Jedi. Fear didn’t trouble her, but she struggled with self-doubt, wondering if she could really be a Jedi Knight and Master to someone the same age as her. She also understood not to let her friendship with Avon cause her to be more worried about her than the missing children on Dalna (commentary with how her being aroace doesn’t make her immune to attachment). She was also a terrible pilot. She has been confirmed to appear in Acolyte.

I don’t know how I missed the fact that padawan’s braid have beads of colours affiliated to their area of study but just learnt that Anakin had both a red and a blue one for piloting and mechanics. Even when he grew up, he still was most attuned to what he knew best from his childhood. And I think it becomes something quite sad when looking at Darth Vader because it’s such a split from what Anakin enjoyed as an infant and until he was a master… it made me quite sad to think on that
- skyguythings
if it helps, DV does still get to pilot things he prefers it actually. in the movies he has his personal ship he goes after luke with. in rebels he goes after hera in his ship :) the man is always like “prepare my ship i will go after them myself”
he also got to redesign his suit. (in the comics). after his palps gave him his mark 1 suit which was too weak for vader’s power and disrupted what was left of his agility. so after vader came back from obtaining his new saber, his suit and limbs were pretty banged up. so while he was in his bacta tank, palps was like “i laid out all the shit for you, i know you want to redesign it your way, so here you go.” and vader got to remake everything using the force while inside his tank. it was sick af.
he maintains his hobbies and is still very skilled at them even during his time as darth vader.
being darth vader, he’s simply anakin skywalker uninhibited. sure palps keeps him on a leash, but vader accomplishes what anakin could not. vader is how anakin’s evolved. he’s not that much different, traumatized beyond belief and more finely tuned and such. he detaches himself from his past because its easier to excuse his behaviors, and to let people know he’ll never devolve back into who anakin was trying to be. anakin was the mask. vader is the being in the basement. he keeps palps around cos hes useful, and he cant defeat him without help. which is why any chance he got to overthrow palps he fucking took lmao. his sworn loyalty to palps is a mask.
i didnt know about the beads though, that’s so fucking cute! i love that sm. i didn’t think the beads had any meaning, that they were just part of the culture. to serve a diff purpose is so fascinating to me

Debunking Misconceptions about Darth Vader's Power Level
This is a continuation of my main post proving that Darth Vader is the most powerful Sith in Star Wars Canon. Please check out my original post before reading.
“Darth Vader’s being a cyborg prevented him from reaching his Force potential”
Incorrect. Darth Vader’s suit was not a hindrance to his power. If anything, it made him stronger in the dark side.
These quotes from Lords of the Sith say so.
The armour separated him from the galaxy, from everyone, made him singular, freed him from the needs of the flesh, the concerns of the body that once had plagued him, and allowed him to focus solely on his relationship to the Force.
He stared at his reflection a long time. His injuries had deformed his body, left it broken, but they’d perfected his spirit, strengthening his connection to the Force.
The loss of his limbs causing him to lose potential doesn't even make any sense. Midichlorians are measured per cell, not per body. Vader may have lost his limbs, but the rest of the body is still just as powerful.
Tumblr media
If you go by the logic that more biomass means means more powerful, Yoda should be the weakest Jedi on the Jedi Council since he has the least biomass of any of them. It doesn't make sense.
Additionally, when his suit was shut of by its creator, Cylo in the Darth Vader (2015) comic series, Vader used the Force to move his body so he could kill him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even with his suit deactivated, Darth Vader is still a lethal opponent.
So no, Vader's suit was not a hindrance to his Force power.
“Vader’s suit was intentionally designed by Sidious to make him weaker and to be painful”
This is another thing that is often assumed by people because it was true in Legends, but it simply isn’t true in Canon.
In Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith (2017), immediately after Vader gets his suit, Sidious asks Vader what he thinks of his suit. He doesn’t begrudgingly say he hates it. Instead, he just says:
Tumblr media
Later in the series, after completing the creation of his new red lightsaber, which he had to kill a Jedi to do, its shown that Vader fixes his own suit to his liking, and Sidious even approves and encourages this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vader even gets pissed off at the idea of anyone else fixing his armor. Unlike in Legends, he has to repair his armor himself.
In Canon, Sidious didn’t want Vader to be held back. He never intentionally handicaps him, and is always disappointed whenever Vader shows any sign of loss in power. This is congruent with his line in Revenge of the Sith when he boasts to Yoda that Vader will be more powerful then either of them: he says it in pride, not as if it will be a problem.
This makes sense. He wants an incredibly strong apprentice to be his enforcer, and has complete confidence Vader won't betray him, both because he has emotionally manipulated him to be psychologically dependent on him, as well as having several contingencies.
This also makes sense since we’re talking about a character to was able to build a protocol droid at the age of 9. He shouldn’t have a problem fixing his suit himself.
“Vader’s suit made him a slow/clunky/inept saber duelist”
Not only is this contradicted by this Top 5 list...
Tumblr media
...but it also contradicts the movies itself.
I mean, look at him go (it's time-coded).
There's also this moment, in the comics...
Tumblr media
...and this moment in the Lords of the Sith novel.
With preternatural speed the Emperor drew, ignited, and slashed at the girl with his lightsaber, but Vader had sensed his Master’s intent and moved with greater speed, igniting his own blade and intercepting his Master’s blow before it could land.
This debunks the notion that Vader didn’t have the speed to keep up with Sidious (or other fast moving lightsaber duelists like Yoda).
If Vader was such a slow and terrible duelist who was a shadow of his former self, how would he have enforced Sidious’ will? How would he “hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights” as Obi-Wan says in A New Hope? And why would Yoda and Obi-Wan need to hide in exile?
"Vader lost to Obi-Wan in Obi-Wan Kenobi so you're wrong"
Vader was conflicted, as Sidious outright states in the next scene.
Tumblr media
Initially, Vader was stronger and was beating Obi-Wan...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
..but he was caught off guard by Obi-Wan's newfound confidence and power boost. His emotional conflict also weakened him, and once Obi-Wan damaged his suit enough so he couldn't breath properly anymore, it was basically over.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Credit to @david-talks-sw for the gifs; check out his blog.
While I do have my issues with Vader losing to Obi-Wan in the series, I'm glad they at least gave an in-universe explanation so Obi-Wan isn't more powerful then Vader, and thus also Sidious, by default, thus destroying the entire original trilogy.
"Sidious wrecked Vader in Issue #6 of the 2020 comics so you’re wrong"
Yes, in this instance, Sidious was more powerful then Vader. However, saying this proves Sidious is generally more powerful is to completely ignore the context in which this happens.
Vader's quest to find who raised his son after The Empire Strikes Back brought back memories of his mother and Padme, including Vader watching a recording showing Padme still believed there to be good in him.
This created a lot of conflict in Vader, and he began wallowing in sadness and grief instead of being fueled by anger and hatred.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sidious outright says this.
Tumblr media
Here, he tells his apprentice that he needs to return to the former power, even acknowledging Vader’s once “unimaginable strength”.
Tumblr media
The whole point of this is that Sidious was trying to get old Vader back, and that he shouldn't be able to do this to him.
Sidious easily beats Vader here because he lost himself. This does not prove he was always weaker then him.
“Sidious wrecked Vader in Issue #11 of the 2020 comics so you’re wrong”
I'll definitely concede that in this case, it's more debatable as to whether Sidious is more powerful then Vader.
Sidious avoids a direct confrontation with Vader, instead choosing to lure him into a series of enemies, including an army of Sith cultists and a literal weaponized kyber crystal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's worth noting that Vader still isn't in his prime here. After going through many difficult opponents, from a bounty hunter to a giant monster, without the aid of the Force, Vader is tired and literally held together by scraps. And yet he still keeps going, fueled by his rage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Sidious activates the kyber crystal, Vader is being harmed, while Sidious feels... nothing. He just stands in front of it.
Tumblr media
Is Sidious now more powerful then Vader? Or is this just because Vader is weak because of everything he's been through and still has some conflict within him?
We can't really say for sure. At this point, it's up to interpretation.
The artist of the comic series did say that Vader is more powerful...
Tumblr media
...but this is less of a Word of God statement and more of a Word of Saint Paul statement.
Regardless, it does not preclude Vader being more powerful prior to this comic series. Which is why I always say that Vader from ROTS up to ESB is the most powerful Sith, because after ESB, whether he's actually more powerful then Sidious is debatable.

Star Wars: Darth Vader #6
There´s just something about the way Palpatine and Vader get so brutally honest with each other while at the same time keeping things to themselves that makes their interactions in the comics very compelling.
Here for example, Vader just discovered a group of enchanced human cyborgs who have been prepared for 20 years to replace him and yet his first thoguht is to see them as an "heresy" to the force because he´s still pretty much faithful to the force and he honestly sees them just like he saw the death star, abominations, technological terrors that go agaisnt the will of the force and the natural order in the galaxy.
Vader´s mentality is still that of a former Jedi who cares about the will of the force more than anything else, it makes sense because for 20 years he´s been isolated from everything except the force and while Palpatine, the Jedi and Vader himself may have forgotten, he´s still the chosen one whose main deal is about following and complying with the will of the force.
Palpatine answers him with anger, because how dare Vader complain to him when the tecnology used in those Cyborgs was the same he used to keep Vader alive? how dare he complain when he allowed him to live that way instead of letting him die? and makes the sugerence to Anakin that if he calls those cyborgs abominations then so is he, Vader doesnt answer but it´s implied that he pretty much sees himself as an abomination as well, why do you keep building abominations that go against the will of the force master? Then he´s also dissapointed at being replaced because yes, despite everything, he still sees Palpatine as a father figure while Palpatine sees it as completely natural because they are Sith and Vader may agree but that doesn´t mean he wants to go against his mastereven if it´s the way of the sith, he cares too much about him to do so, Vader doesn´t care much for this part of the way of the sith but I believe this started the drift between them, made bigger by Luke existence.
This may not seem that way but they are also arguing about the way of the sith being properly unnatural while Vader is of the mind that even as sith they don´t need to act in an unnatural way outside the force influence.
It´s just compelling the two main villains of the saga argue over their role and place in the universe and it tells much of the kind of characters they are, Vader sees himself as a force of order who follows the natural order of things and the will of the force while Palpatine sees himself as a force of change and power beyond the natural order but generally what he brings is chaos.
