Neon is nonverbal, and uses their phone, or octoling shades as AAC devices

General backstory underneath:

Born and raised in Octo Canyon in the Cephalon HQ sector, Neon grew to elite ranking, and earned their place as one of the top espionage agents; primarily tasked with observing the Zapfish and the surface’s security systems to report to Octavio.

Constantly under the threat of societal collapse due to the energy and resource crisis, the military had grown particularly strict, residential areas struggling more than ever.

One morning, most of everyone is suddenly missing. No warning, no notice of leave, the few that remained were left to panic, and with that, the underground became borderline uninhabitable, without enough remaining to keep it sustainable.

Those that remained desperately attempted to scramble for answers, Neon left feeling abandoned and lost. Was there a mass betrayal? Had spies infiltrated and eliminated nearly everyone? We’re they left to die here?

As Octavio leaves to attempt to find and recover the lost troops, Neon aimlessly wanders, finding their way up to the surface, hoping to find someplace, or someone, that would allow for them to survive.

Eventually, while wandering the desert, they encounter a stray Inkling they reluctantly decide to stick with, inadvertently leading them to Cuttlefish himself, and being dragged into the Squidbeak Splatoon. Leading to an odd fight with their boss, and the fall into Alterna.

Soon after, Neon discovers what happens to the lost troops, and is faced with the fuzzy anomaly that threatens the planet…

You can only touch them when they are no longer being electrocuted, at which point you must call emergency services and prepare to start CPR if they are not breathing normally.” -bigblargh aka sam --------------------------------------- Name: bag of chips Author: abho Just like a bag of chips, I keep taking handfuls of this level when I am well aware I should stop and take a break. It's the perfect junk food level: it looks hard but it isn't, it looks messy but it's very intentional, it's short enough you can just keep taking bites, and it's got a nice variety of simple flavors -- such as gatling, laser, and your classic zap, along with some sprinklings of mines. It's one of those simple levels I just can't stop playing. Consider: Rumia/Yami but the goopy darkstuff she's usually made of is replaced with dark chocolate. (This is absolutely because of the LW event)

Yami's saccharine tendrils of corruption twist and coil 'round your expanding waist as a tide of dark chocolate flows through your ever-open mouth and down your ever-waiting throat... In a way, she knew you wanted this well before you did- and your struggles will only last for so long with such addicting care.

The whisper in your ears is sweeter even than the chocolate you'd grown fat on, and the way that her elongated, crimson-black tongue wraps 'round your neck, forcing you to swallow down yet more with its pressure- is all the more bitter than that of what makes up her own maidly frame.
