shadowbringers spoilers under the cut i just want to ramble

i really wish kingdom hearts and ffxiv could have a collab, mainly because the nier raid was soooo good and i think a kingdom hearts alliance raid would go so hard (imagine the loot. the tiny sora minion, the org 13 coats, the sora hairstyle.)

but on the flip side, i know it'll never happen, but i'd also love a ffxiv world in a kingdom hearts game.

can you imagine Sora going to the first, and meeting, like, emet-selch and the exarch? maybe he kinda takes the place of the wol in the story, and at first everyone starts calling him the warrior of darkness, and he's a little confused because what do you mean, there's no darkness in me? i fight for the light?

and then maybe as he learns what light did to the first he slowly starts to learn that maybe light and dark ARE a balance that need to be maintained, and if thats true in this world, what does it mean about everything else, everything he thought he knew?

also i fully think sora would be able to take all the light from the sin eaters into himself with ease, just like the wol, and generally i just think emet-selch popping up out of nowhere and saying cryptic things and generally harassing sora would just fit in so well with the way other villains and org xiii in the series have done the same thing to sora since forever.

basically just final fantasy worlds in kingdom hearts would go so hard in general.

btw i AM still working on my dark road keyblade armor mini project to be clear. trying to settle on a face design/direction is kicking my ass though. =w= i might try and work on some of the other keyblade armors or other khdr art and get back to this.

#semi-relevant note: p sure sigrun darkroad is supposed to have a similar bodyshape/faceshape to pence after cross-referencing sprites #like it's REALLY subtle but the spriters went out of their way to have her neck/face be wider than most of the other charas in the game #i'm not saying they did a /great/ job at showing it but like. it's there! there /is/ probably supposed to b a difference #invidia hort sketch

Do you have any thoughts about why the dark road kids all have the same keyblade? Like, for union cross only having a couple designs makes sense because you have thousands of players, but for darkroad, you have set characters and stuff. So why all the same keyblade? I understand that it might have just been from a simpler to design standpoint, but from what we see in the rest of the series, even with the rest of the union cross cast aside from the player, keyblades are like very unique. So, from a lore standpoint, what do you think is up?

Gamewise it’s just easier to have one keyblade instead of designing (thinking…) like 15 new ones for characters who will just die in two shots and for a game which wasn’t even supposed to be made. But lorewise, in my brain just making things up about kingdom hearts? I have thoughts about the government

like specifically the pseudo-monarchy in scala. Because keyblade ownership is still regulated, in scala, but in a completely different way, yeah? In Daybreak Town I think it was a whole thing with the master of masters going copy paste, but in Scala ad Caelum, I think it might be a case of using a standard training keychain. I made a post somewhere about sword styles, it’s uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh here it is. Scala is more rigid than daybreak for sure, ven would not be using backhand if he were raised there, I don’t think. It makes sense to me that bequeathing is a highly regulated privilege, and students are required to use a specific keychain to standardize teaching (also regulate abilities)! I imagine they learn the specifics of their personal keyblades when they become masters, if they don’t inherit a bloodline blade. None of them have to improvise adapt overcome, so they don’t really need to figure out their own hearts. (The symbolism alarm starts going off behind me) you hush

the monarchy might place some sort of symbolism on the keyblade itself — less so of a “this person has a sparkly fun keyblade, it reflects their person” and more of a “this keyblade is OLD AND POWERFUL and it is a STATUS SYMBOL” — so I think this may extend to khml as well. This might be why No Name didnt have a single owner until Xehanort (I don’t think it was ODINS keyblade anyways. It’s a status symbol, and kind of a WMD if you think about it too hard), and Eraqus inherited Master’s Defender when he became I guess the monarchy’s last heir??? Anyways

For those that wonder how i reacted to the Darkroad's final, It's like you're reading the Kingdom Hearts manga but the more you get to the last few pages the more you realize you've been reading snk, volume 34 all along.

It's a shock, isn't it?That's how I felt.Because throughout the game, there are funny scenes interspersed with some serious moments without it ever becoming chaotic.The last episode of Dr. destroys me whether it's because all of a sudden we get the deaths of all of Xehanort's friends in a row, or whether it's the avalanche of plot twists we're used to at the end of every Kh game.But to get back to Xehanort's dead friends, the most shocking thing is that they really are dead.Okay, we've had some traumatic scenes in kh, whether it was Sora stabbing himself with the Keyblade of Hearts in kh1, or Xion's death in khDays, or even the fateful fate of the Wayfindertrio, but we can all agree that they all came back at some point.Xehanort's friends never had the right to come back in the saga. Xehanort will never see them again (Nomura makes them come back in kh4 please)And there is also the fact that Xehanort went through so much shit, he didn't deserve it.If the Wayfindertrio is the "bad ending version" of the Destiny trio, in that case it's the same with Xehanort and Sora.So you could look at it as if Xehanort would be what Sora would be if he had gone through all this.Conclusion I love this game and it's one of my favorite kh but damn NOMURA!
