Another throwback, this one from 2019. This piece was made for an art show comprised of pieces inspired by music. I picked Aldous Harding’s “Stop Your Tears”, specifically the lyrics:

The yellow rose is a stranger, The Devil’s invitation in bloom.

I fondly remember painting and glazing, pushing and pulling, all the little lace details on the ruff and cuffs. Makes me want to paint lace again...

Vispezia is one of the gods within the Varmeni pantheon, the oldest member according to the myths and legends. Her domains are those of shadows, secrets, lies and manipulation. It is also said that she is the embodiment of the void itself and the keeper of forbidden knowledge and all the secrets within existence. She can be called upon to both reveal hidden secrets or keep them hidden. Thanks to this she is the patron goddess to those who deal in shadows and secrets such as spies, thieves and assassins.

This is a character design for a personal project of mine.

A Baltic witch! 🧙‍♀️🌾

It’s interesting that in our culture witches were never evil. They were either something like dryads, guarding sacred trees or mediators between humans and spirits. They were wise and respected, often giving advice to people.

.

I think this is why I have such an affinity to them - they’re wise, they live together with and respect nature, because they, more than any one else, know how powerful and scary nature can be.
