"Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment."

“THE SLICE” is the latest single from @_careen3’s forthcoming EP titled ‘Cycle 3’ (2/23 @deathmetalflorida) & it finds the Beliingham-based quartet of Desi Valdez (guitar/vox), Bryan Foster (bass), Aiden Blau (guitar) & Neto Alvarado (drums) bringing a 3:26 clip of punchy PostHardcore.
“ALIEN MASK” is the lead single from @chorduroyband’s forthcoming debut LP (TBA) & it finds the San Diego-based quartet bringing the blown-out goods across 3 mins of snottily sassed, six-string riffing & psych-tinged GaragePunk.
@chanel_beads are here w/ “IDEA JUNE,” the lead single from their forthcoming debut LP titled ‘Your Day Will Come’ (4/19 @jagjaguwar) & it finds the NY-based artist Shane Lavers linking up w/ vocalist @c0ll3 to bring the folkily hushed goods across 1 ½ spaciously minimal mins.
“CLOSE 2 U” (@bornlosersrecords) is a brand-new standalone single from @notlayzi & it finds Carissa Myre’s Boston-based project looking to bashfully brighten your day across 4+ mins of tenderly twee & moodily melancholic BedroomPop.
“REACH FOR THE KNIFE” is the closing track from @publiccircuitband’s forthcoming LP titled ‘Lamb’ (3/8 @alacarterecords_) & it finds the Brooklyn-based project dark_waving across 3 ½ mins of lightly industrialized & urgently EBM’d ElectroPop.
“SPINDRIFT” is the lead/title-track from @rovingband’s forthcoming debut LP (4/23 @reallyradrecs) & it finds the Santa Maria, CA-based quartet of Aryel Lopez (guitar/vox), Chase Hunter (guitar), Eduardo Siordia (bass) & Diego Gomez (drums) nü_gazing their way across a 2:51 clip of buzzing AltRawk.
A title sequence I did for a postgraduate course, based on an old story I wrote (in Chinese). Might share another animation I made later :D

“Now a messenger comes from a place that has bled…”
‘CYNTHIA’ is the long awaited album from @qyburnmusic & my word, it’s been worth every day of its extended gestation.
The Los Angeles-based artist/producer/legit human Connor Strader invokes “some kind of ethereal dance paradise with an underbelly of sex and corruption lurking just beneath the surface” by tapping into his first loves of Genesis, Rush, Yes & Jethro Tull across a 9-track spread that seamlessly coalesces these proggers w/ a heavy penchant for goth’d out & dark_waving theatrics.
“She Breathes” is the table setter that opens the album & legit sets the tone of what’s to go down over the next 8 tracks w/ it’s dulcet tones, prog_gothing & multiple sick ass sax solos…. while the title-track finds our “master necromance” holding court & spreading the dark word by dropping another banger ass track for his fellow conjurors that’s chockful of synthetic dread, ominous beauty & deeply plaintive tones
“Loose Lips” is a delightfully string laden & piano-led lead ditty that operates within the cosmos while the transfixing “Ruby Red” finds Strader bringing the cosmically spooked goods across 5 ½ mins of dialed-in & dark_waving ProgPop, where every foggy chant & crystalline synth hits hard AF.
Elsewhere “Succubus” lives up to its sinister namesake while “Carson of Venus” is just the late night comedown we needed as treated guitars set the bed for a passioned croon & “Letting Go” picks the BPMs the fuck up while sending us to the nearest darkened dance floor.
Closing things out in proper bookend fashion, “Mythic Dawn” brings an epic feel, one that truly does pay homage to these mystical prog heroes but also packs plenty of NewWave touchstones ala Real Life, Bowie & a club-ready beat while mixing in plenty of percolating synth & medieval organ all of which lay an ideal bed for Strader’s commanding (yet airy) vocal.
Qyburn’s ‘Cynthia’ is the truth & these 9 tracks are all the proper proof you’ll need to realize he’s a force to be reckoned with.
When Matty says "Everything Edgar Allen Poe would have listened to if the synthesizer was created before 1964." for his music taste, what sort of artists/bands do you think fall into that category, or that he'd like? Also what sort of books do you think he'd read, he seems like a reader to me.
I think he means darkwave (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_wave), which is sort of a mix between synthpop and goth rock. For books he likes Friedrich Nietzsche, William S. Burroughs, Clive Barker, Hakim Bey, Splatterpunk, Maurice G. Dantec, Anton LaVey, Robert Walser, H.P. Lovecraft, Antonin Artaud, Raymond Abellio, The Art of War.
