instead of finishing reading the book i spent the day drawing the sarcean and anharion hair touching in the garden scene which made me feel completely normal obviously
Im rereading Dark Rise and there’s something that caught my eye.
“‘It’s said that in our darkest hour, the Stewards will Call for the King, and the line of Kings will answer.’ Justice smiled a little ruefully, as if even to him this was just a story.”
Of all their stories and legends this is the one they doubt.
Maybe this isn’t referring to one of the four kings that had thrones in the hall.
Maybe the Stewards Called for the King, and Will answered.
Will: Oh my God, I'm the final villain! I'm horrible! I'm terrible! I don't deserve to live!
Also Will: Excuse me, you're interrupting my sacrifice to save these people I've never seen before and who probably wouldn't do the same for me, so please, could you leave?
Yooo I'm running an interest check for a Sarcie badge! (*image not 100% final)
I think it could go for ~$6, shipping through the standard mail included.
Also I have to admit I somehow really like Sarcean. Not because of all the bad stuff everyone said he did but because of how he seemed in the memories.
idk whats worse the fact that this has just been rotting in my drafts for months or the fact that i read this and immediately knew who i was referring to
Rereading Dark Rise, I found something I’d forgotten. This excerpt is about Will trying to access his power when he faces James. (I’ve abbreviated this a lot btw. I didn’t want the post to get too long)
“When he hit that closed door…It hurt; a sick, nauseating pain, like pushing on a broken bone…He gasped, coming back to himself in a rush to a throat of blood, as though something had ruptured.”
Will trying to access his power on his own is not only mentally straining but also causes him physical harm. That door inside him isn’t just shut, it’s guarded by a power that hurts him when he tries to force through it.
If he pushed hard enough to reach the power beyond the door, if he didn’t stop until he had it, it might kill him.
I think he’d be willing to do that.
Because it might be the only way to get the collar off.
This post should have been about my friend's wit (who hasn't read Dark Rise but listened to me for hours on end while I talked about the books), but despite the man's genius, let's focus on what he brought as a theory: he raised the hypothesis that perhaps it was Sarcean, somehow, the source of the ideas about the Necklace.
The argument was based on the idea that Sarcean couldn't bring himself and Anharion to this life with both having memories of the past. After all, how could James have no memories while Will frequently had entire flashbacks? That's where it is. We don't see other reborn besides Will and James, so it's likely that even the Dark King had his limitations, so he couldn't ensure that James would have his memories.
Knowing this, and also the human corruption and the strange allure of the object, Sarcean planned the dissemination of legends about the Necklace, which would contain Anharion's memories, where whoever put it on James could have it as their possession, in order to manipulate people so that the memories reached Anharion's reincarnation. In my opinion, it's a thing that Sarcean will do.
Okay I know this is probably extremely unpopular but I need to know if there's anyone who agrees - Will and Violet would've been cute together.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all here for Will and James! But if Will was straight or James didn't exist - he and Violet would've been SO much cuter than him and Katherine.
Idk maybe I just really like Violet (I do really like Violet).
If Violet ends up with a guy now I think it should be Cyprian. Their dynamic is cool, from him essentially hating her to becoming friends, love that shit.
