November 19 Update:

My mom's cat and my dog are starting to get along! It's a lovely gloomy rainy day and I drank a lot of coffee and had a nice pot roast for dinner. Fika was a spiced apple cider and sweet potato pie.

As for my thesis... I've almost finished my discussions and conclusions so I can send off to my advisor next week. And I wanted to kind of show top of my desk versus my very cluttered drawer lol.

I squeezed much too hard

And you dripped away through my fingers,

Like juice from a first fruit

I ripped into too quickly

A mongrel dog making off with an offering

Placed on the altar for gods to eat,

But treating myself to you instead,

My lingering tongue licking the remains

Until my stomach burns with the ill-gotten gains,

Flames too haphazardly consuming the goods.

I never meant to sacrifice you

For the love gods’ pleasure

To chew and swallow, red and raw

Their edacious maws sucking the marrow out

From bones that kept us standing up

I'm so tempted to interrupt their gorging

And hold that mangled corpse close

But the heart beats empty now

All the blood’s seeped out to feed the hallowed ground

So nothing’s left but promises prematurely severed

All permanently stained on my memory.
