Ooooooo, have anymore erotica learnings to share with the class??
Tumblr media
I don't know if this is a learning so much as something that's a personal pet peeve, but I cannot stand a story that moves fast for no reason. Like I said on this ask, stories that are like:
‘i’ve never seen this man before in my life but now we’ve wound up on the floor somehow and he looked like he would kiss me but he didn’t did i mention we’re in public he’s an asshole btw i’m wet’
I don't need every story to be a slow burn, but if everything is happening for......Literally no reason, I will completely lose interest. This was the actual scene progression of a book that i was trying to read, and it lost my interest in the second chapter. It was just a meaningless series of action and reaction that seemed to start for.....No reason. Some asshole came up to a woman in a bar and said 'you've had enough to drink' and then suddenly they were on the floor??
Listen, Mags, sweetheart, sunshine, you know that I love my slowburns, but you know what isn't a slowburn that we've concocted? Bish/Brat. And they're fucking perfect for one another. It was Lust At First Sight. And I'm fine with that—but the way we formulated them to get together makes sense. I can't stand romance novels where things happen simply because they're convenient.
So, not a learning, per se, just a pacing pet peeve.
I'm still parsing through some verbiage that dives me nuts, but there haven't been any battering rams of meat, so.

Flash, on Tik Tok: put a finger down hero edition!
Flash: *points at Superman and Conner*
Flash: put a finger down if you've ever been cloned without your consent by a billionaire who wanted to use said clone to kill and replace you! And now you're coworkers!
Danny, sitting in his car, face completely blank, in a Tik Tok duet: *puts a finger down*
Dani: *pops her head over the seat and makes eye contact with the camera at the exact same moment*

Batman finding out about Ghosts from thr GiW and after doing his due research, is one of the few in the JL that recognizes the GiW are basically hunting down an entire species for sport. Some JL members justify it by saying the ghosts are dangerous.
Ghosts are now a huge fight within the JL, until JLD gets involved and basically scream at the GiW and the JL members that wanted to support them for being idiots, and John specifically states that the ghosts have only been searching for their lost King - and how the Ghost King has a order in place that prevents ghosts from harming humans unless attacked first, and how said order is only good so long as the King isn't Ended.
Well cue the JL backtracking on everything the GiW started, and freeing the ghosts they helped capture (Most were Ended, and the JL has a lot to deal with emotionally for that, but JLD darkly states the guilt of helping End a ghost is really only the start of their consequences) and eventually uncover the truth that they also captured and experimented on humans who were either "Ecto-Contaminated" or had died recently- all entirely legally.
On one mission, Flash (against the GiW) and Superman (Pro GiW on the idea ghosts were dangerous) run into 5 teens that the GiW would consider Ecto-Contaminated. They introduce each other as members of Team Phantom- And only the Red Huntress refers to herself by name. The teens are wearing masks and gloves, and basically have enough gear on that Flash and Supes are sure Batman would have trouble figuring out who they really were.
Superman tries to get them to back down and wait for the adults to handle it, to which Red Huntress snarks back that "letting the adults handle it" only got most of their town killed. So Superman is thoroughly cut to the side bar as Flash asks what they need for their plan to work. And Flash is 100% on board with it, after all, Barry has seen what Dick and Wally were like as kids, and these kids have probably just been through worse.
And in the end, they find Danny Fenton. Chained up and badly injured with scars Flash only sees on corpses after an autopsy- but the 17 year old is alive.
Flash isn't dumb. He notices how Fenton and King Phantom match descriptions pretty well, and it's hard not to notice the power this kid is slightly emitting. And even Superman could notice the green blood mixing with the human red- turning the fresh blood into a ghastly brown.
But Flash also doesn't assume the Watchtower is in any way safe to handle this kid. So he turns to Team Phantom and asks what they need, and states exactly what the Watchtower has.
There's some things the Watchtower is running low on (so many people needing medical attention while it's illegal to not hand them over to the GiW has their sources running low on medical supplies safe for these Ecto-Contaminated humans) but Star Labs in Central has just enough to make sure the kid can make it.
Flash offers up Barry Allen's workplace as a safe space.

“y/n.” she said, finally meeting your eyes, she leaned forward, your faces inches apart, so close that you could smell her minty breath.
“L-less?” you whispered, not used to the way she was looking at you, it was something that you'd only seen a couple of times when the kissing got intense.
 Alessia looked hungry.
hehe heres a lil something ive been working on today, i plan on posting it tomorrow
(its gonna be smutty ;) )

ASOIAF stans can be very annoying because a common characteristic in any discussion about leadership in this series always delves into readers zeroing in on failures while they completely write off any successes. This happens with just about any person thrust into a position of power, but I see these bizarre standards most applied to Jon Snow and Daenerys (especially Dany). You’d think that after years and years of analyzing the text to death, we’d come up with more compelling arguments than “Jon Snow bad Lord Commander” and “Dany bad (she’s just bad)”. Fans have decided to define these two by the mistakes they make while completely writing off all the good they do. And then the most baffling thing is when they say that Dany and Jon are failures so someone else should be the endgame ruler….and then they name Young Griff as their chosen champion.
Setting aside the obvious role Aegon plays as a narrative foil to Jon and Dany, how can anyone say he would do a better job? He has done literally nothing. His skills are a blank slate. Where is the evidence that he would have better reforms for the Watch than Jon did? That he would know how to better handle the different factions at the Wall than Jon did? That he would know how to prepare for the upcoming food shortage than Jon did? Where is the evidence that he would know how to better handle Meereen than Dany did? That he would know how to better deal with the obviously gargantuan task of abolishing slavery?
The point is that ruling is hard. There’s no such thing as a perfect ruler in this series and if anyone thinks that there is, they obviously have not been paying attention. All who have been put in a position of leadership in this story fail in some way. That’s the nature of the job. Even good-hearted, well-intentioned people like Jon and Daenerys struggle with the weight of leadership. So even as they do such incredible good, they still have blind spots. That’s because they’re human and human beings are not perfect. And let’s be real, people would complain if they were suddenly so good at ruling despite their young age and inexperience. So it’s insane to me that fans will read these books and come to the conclusion that all that is needed, instead of Jon and Dany, is a perfect leader who will make everything ok - even more baffling when they name Aegon/Young Griff or some other person who has zero experience with administration so far. Please, let us be serious for once.

bc not a day goes by that i do not think about pedrenzo AND always an angel never a god dani pedrosa AND jorge "i will be riding on shattered bones and you can't stop me" lorenzo have a terrible new idea. say in 2014 jorge does a(nother) stupid self destructive stunt but this time doesn't get away w/ it... out of racing for a year at best like. really suffering.
AND this puts dani into a three way battle with marc and vale in 2015. like it has been already said out of all the aliens vale has had the best overall relationship with dani - and there's an argument that it is so because dani has never taken championships off of him.
so let us say that dani manages to avoid getting badly injured and stays in the title contention after marc drops the ball. and he probably better than anyone understands what vale feels. bc he has the same desperation - he is turning thirty in 2015, he's only taking more injuries as the years go by. casey, his other fellow 250cc rival, has already retired. he missed his chance at a title in 2012. except, unlike vale, he's still chasing his first title.
and so like. how does this all play out between vale and dani and marc? marc and dani are obviously teammates, and have a friendlier relationship than marc and jorge used to. dani does NOT play the media games, very deliberately keeps away from them, which may be a point in his favor - or to his detriment, if he doesn't come out to offer his version of whatever events transpire.
and then there's jorge on the sidelines. resentful of his lost chance. of his injury. who, to his own surprise, if forced to choose who he'd prefer as the champion would say dani without a second thought. who - maybe - would like to help.

Jamie’s the type of friend who actually tries to pack himself in a suitcase so he can go on trips with you. Or he just genuinely considers kidnapping his friends so they don’t leave. I’m pretty sure half of the team would be happily kidnapped too.

i'll make this my pinned post:
so a dany hater followed this blog, sorry dude (in a non binary way) but i think this isn't the blog for you, daenerys targaryen is my absolute second favourite character after arya, i know that most of my posts are focusing in the starks, but that's because after arya and dany, jon and bran are my favourites too, but honestly that's it, the starks are not a monolith and i only like very few of them, i think that ned stark was a negletful father, i don't dislike catelyn but i have a problem with her treatment of jon and her treatment of arya, i honestly don't have an opinion on robb, i'll look foward to have more information on rickon on the books and i tend to dislike book!sansa but most of the time i don't really care about her at all but absolutely hate the show!sansa and fanon!sansa (they are almost one and the same) that stansas are trying to push onto everyone else in this fandom. that's why for my mental health i have most of the popular stansas's accounts blocked
so yeah, about the key five, i love arya, dany, jon and bran and i like tyrion, and about the others characters i'm always changing my mind on jaime, i want to protect brienne, samwell and shireen, if i'm being honest i don't really care about theon, i really like the tyrells (olenna, margaery and loras), i despise tywin lannister, robert and joffrey baratheon, how things came to be between stannis and renly makes me sad, i adore arianne martell, i want to know more about the daynes, i'm heavily invested in the young griff/jon connington plotpoint, cersei and melisandre are really intriguing to me, i want to know more about lyanna and rhaegar's relationship and gendry is best boy for me
i'm mostly a gendrya shipper, i don't have a problem with jonrya, i'm on board with a future jonerys ship, i like braime and renlyxloras (do they have a ship name?)
my posts will be always talking about the asoiaf! characters as i think that the show "game of thrones" is an awful abomination. i'm not a native english speaker or writer so my posts always will be full of grammatical errors
i read the books when i was still a teenage girl back in 2014, last year i spent my time rereading arya's chapters again as an adult man with better understanding about grrm's writing style and definitely i'll read all the books again when i have the time
to end this: i'm a aroace trans man so i'm part of the queer community, if you have a problem with any part of that sentence, please block me and lastly i wish i could follow back the people that follow this blog, but i want to maintain this sideblog with my mainblog completely separate, hope you undestand!

Your posts about Dany, ever since your post about what her three dragons represent for her in term of them being what she needed from each of the men she named them for etc, completely transformed the way I engage with Dany as a character from a psychological standpoint (that was sadly not much before). This fandom is so fixated on attacking her as a leader and politician and moral character and therefore as defending her from that that there often isn't room to appreciate the complexity of her psychology and the emotional aspects of her plotline as there is for every other character. Your fandom presence is so refreshing.
Thanks for sending this, I really appreciate it.
I agree that the fandom in general doesn't really engage with Dany as a young girl, let alone a victim of abuse. Her abuse is often acknowledged (usually to show how "gross" grrm is or the negative qualities of the dothraki though, rather than how it's impacted her as a character) but it's also often viewed as some sad note of her past rather than a wound that she still carries. Her dragons are physical representations of her wounds and her strength. Though I do hope grrm will have Dany really come to terms with everything she's endured. She's never been able to look away from other peoples pain but she can barely glance at her own. I expect a lot of her trauma to bubble up to the surface during her second round with the Dothraki, when she's proclaimed as the Stallion that Mounts the World or the mother of the Stallion (Drogon) or Whatever.
The fandom is very focused on Dany the leader, the politician, the Moral Character when her leadership stems from the fact that she was a young girl with no one to protect her. "Kings are meant to protect people." There is no Dany the Leader without Dany the Traumatized Kid.
And, yeah, the dragons are a giant messy bundle of psychological trauma and resilience. the dragon dream that "tempered her, scoured her, made her clean" on the night she resolved herself to suicide. She becomes stronger physically and mentally after this dream and it feels very much like Drogon was reaching through the veil to claim her as Mother, bathing her in fire (life) to stop her from choosing death.
Ultimately the fandom generally views Dany in very black and white terms which is frustrating because all of these characters are gray - but Dany can't be gray she either has to be the most Pure and Good Queen or an evil mad bitch that deserves to be put down for her own sins and the sins of her family. Her trauma is a part of who she is and it informs a lot of her actions. For example,, she's attracted to Daario because he reminds her of Drogo but this is a Drogo she can control and have power over. She can recreate her trauma, in a way, but this time she is safe and secure in her power and position. Daario is her mistress, and he's flirty but she controls when and if they become intimate. Sidenote: kinda drives me crazy to see people say Dany is attracted to 'bad boys' and aggressive men like yall this is part of the Trauma.

please serenade me with your fix-it fic thoughts on the team and Zava, because that shit in canon was WHACK
THANK YOU FOR PROVIDING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY. buckle up lads i am about to take us all on a journey of rage.
so. i'm outlining this fix-it, right. i'm thinking to myself that i can do whatever i want, right. i'm realizing this means that i could literally cut zava out of the story entirely, right. but then. But Then. i have a moment where i just sit there and stare at my screen and have the staggering SECOND realization that zava's presence in season 3 actually could have saved it, if they had utilized him properly.
"but sid! you hate zava! what are you Talking About You Fool!" allow me to explain. below the cut bc. oops. this got VERY LONG.
by introducing zava into season 3, the show had the opportunity to use him as the catalyst for the team banding together as, y'know, A Team. as the catalyst for players like sam and dani and colin to step up and assert themselves as excellent footballers in their own right.
dani did not deserve to serve as a talking head for How Great Zava Is. dani deserved to be recognized as one of the aces of the team, the way they introduced him in season 1, and take his place beside jamie as one of the team's central cogs! in the fix-it, dani is going to function as the person who sees zava for precisely what he is but chooses to let it go because he thinks everyone else is super jazzed about zava and he doesn't want to be the Debbie Downer Of It All. until he begins to realize that everyone else is not, in fact, super jazzed about zava. in fact, zava is actively undermining the team and seeding a shitton of self-doubt -- specifically, with jamie. which. jamie's arc is a Whole Other Beast that i won't get into right now. but! dani will not stand for this. and now that he knows that he is not alone in his feelings re: zava, he decides to do something about it. what does he do?
he goes to sam. sam obisanya, my belovedest, who despises preferential treatment and would not allow such unfairness to stand. sorry but i'm right. he Wouldn't. and dani is like. yo. zava, amiright? and sam is like. yo. you are so right. and both of them have noticed how different jamie is acting (AGAIN. there is a Whole Situation happening with jamie in this fic that i WILL talk about but NOT NOW), how the whole team is acting, and they come to the conclusion that they must create a grassroots movement to oust zava and reclaim the team as a team again.
yadda yadda yadda........ this also ties directly into my dissection of colin and isaac's storylines. colin goes against the team on the Zava Front because actually. he doesn't mind not being in the spotlight in favor of this superstar. y'know. and Plot Happens and the coming out storyline happens but DIFFERENTLY and it all stems from zava. and how his presence almost destroys the team but they are A Team and they refuse to be torn apart by this. this absolute buffoon. and EVENTUALLY ted is able to come back to himself and recognize how shitty the zava situation has been for everyone and. and yeah. that's the bare bones of it.
tl;dr: the season 3 fix-it will actually have MORE zava in it. but for a purpose beyond setting up a zavacado joke in the finale. y'know.

It's so so disingenuous to claim that Dany should have taken the time to separate xyz privileged persons in Meereen because "not everyone sanctioned the murder of those 163 children 😞". Oh ok. So that very wealthy, very influential man did not personally give the order. Maybe he doesn't even have slaves. But riddle me this: Where did their wealth come from? What are the historical foundations of their political power? In a society that continues to practice oppression (and a society where wealth and status is defined by it), how is it that they continue to hold as much influence and social capital as the "direct evil"? None of this is happening in a vacuum. And like....this is a society where the dehumanization of slaves is systemic. It runs policy and economics. And the people in power obviously know each other and support each other (considering the fact that they can keep wealth and influence!!!). So does it matter if xzy didn't give the order? Does it matter if they were not the ones nailing those kids to the posts? What matters is that they saw oppression, did absolutely nothing in the face of it, and continued to benefit from it. They are not innocent. Evil isn't just related to the guy pulling the trigger. The devil is also the one who's standing in the back, watching, and counting his coffers. And it terrifies me to think about what some of you would be saying in the real world, in the face of oppression. "I cannot be held accountable because I wasn't the one who pulled the trigger"....but you continued to benefit from the privilege afforded to you by the oppressive system AND DID/SAID NOTHING. By turning a blind eye, you have taken the side of the oppressor. So I'm sorry sweetie but you 👏 are 👏 part 👏 of 👏 the 👏 problem 👏 big time!
