Interesting facts about Fred Vesti that I've just discovered:
Fred competed at the 2017 Danish F4 Championship with the Vesti Motorsport team. Despite missing 6 races (2 rounds at Ring Djursland), Fred managed to finish ALL his races on the podium and placed 2nd overall in the championship standings with 8 wins, 15/21 podiums (he missed those 6 races), 5 pole positions, and 4 fastest lap. He also brought his team to win the teams' championship, placing the highest out of his teammates (4th, 7th, 10th, 14th).
It is very impressive for Fred Vesti to still place 2nd in the championship despite never competing full rounds of the 2017 Danish F4. If he competes in the 6 races he missed, i'm pretty sure he might win the championship because the points gap between the champion and Fred (P2) is only 40 points (Champion competes full rounds with 7 wins, Vesti missed two rounds but ended up with 8 wins. Both have equal podiums)

Christian showed a flash of brilliance his rookie year at the second Indy GP and things were looking up for the team in general but as 2023 has begun, RLL is back to having problems with their cars, lacking speed and driver comfort. He’s not a flashy person, preferring to hangout with friends playing card and board games or finding a place to play pickleball rather than go out on the town when he’s in Indy. He likes to spend a good chunk of the winter break back in Denmark visiting family and friends. He’s got an unreasonable fondness for Dad jokes for a 21 year old and his fashion sense ranges from bucket hats and weirdly patterned shorts (a preference he shares with much of the Indycar field) to dapper 3-piece suits straight from the golden age. He currently has a bet with a friend that he cannot shave his mustache until he wins a race.

W SERIES 2022 DRIVER INTRODUCTIONS: #10 Juju Noda
Born 2 February 2006 in Tokyo, Japan, Juju began karting at the age of 3. At only the age of 9 she started testing single seaters. In 2019 she made her official competition debut in the Lucas Oil Winter Series. In 2020 she started competing in Danish F4 and took several podiums and wins across her two seasons in the series. As the youngest driver on the grid she joins the Academy W Series team. Alongside her W Series Campaign she will compete in the Drexler F3 Cup and Danish F4 this season.
“I’m still young, but I’ve already been racing for a long time and I’m ready to take the next step in my career with W Series. I’ve watched lots of W Series races in the past and the standard is very high, so this is a great opportunity and I really like what W Series is trying to do for females in motorsport. Everything is new to me with these cars so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the pre-season testing helped me get up to speed and I’ve been training hard physically and mentally to prepare myself.
I don’t feel pressure, I just want to do well, and I appreciate all the support that people give me. I can’t wait to start the season in Miami, and I’m obviously looking forward to racing in front of my home crowd at the Japanese Grand Prix in October. I’ve never raced at Suzuka before, so that will be a very special weekend and I’ll be giving it everything.”
Previous Series: Lucas Oil Winter Series, Danish F4, YACademy Winter Series, Drexler Formula 3 Cup

2019 Class wins in U17 F4 and F3 class races

Mercedes announce seven junior drivers for 2023 including one new recruit
Mercedes have revealed their seven-strong driver line-up for their Junior Programme for 2023, with the likes of Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Paul Aron and Frederik Vesti continuing with the team. The Silver Arrows have a range of drivers from karters to FIA Formula 2 racers in their junior roster this year. Highly-rated Italian Antonelli continues with the team as he moves up to Formula Regional European Championship in 2019, while Estonian driver Aron (main image) moves up to FIA Formula 3 this season and Danish driver Vesti remains in F2 but drives for Prema this season. READ MORE: Sauber Academy present ‘very promising’ line-up of drivers for 2023 Furthermore, they retain Jamaican driver Alex Powell plus two female racers in Chinese driver Yuanpu Cui and Spaniard Luna Fluxa. British karter Kenzo Craigie joins the programme for 2023 as this year he steps up to the Junior class, competing in UK and International Rotax, and IAME categories. "We're looking forward to seeing how our junior drivers progress this season," said Toto Wolff, Mercedes Team Principal. "We saw some impressive performances in 2022, and we will continue to support them as they develop. "An encouraging recent example of their progress is Kimi's [Antonelli’s] Formula Regional Middle East title. All our junior drivers are at very different, but very exciting, stages of their young careers and I'm sure it's going to be another positive year for the programme.” Gwen Lagrue, Driver Development Advisor for mercedes, added: "For 2023, our Junior Programme has drivers racing in almost every step of the feeder series ladder. We're optimistic it's going to be another strong season and year of positive progress. "After an initial taste of F1 in Abu Dhabi last year at the rookie test, we expect Frederick Vesti to be fighting for wins and be in contention for the FIA F2 title. Following a successful campaign in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA), Paul Aron moves up to FIA F3 and we believe he's ready to be a front-runner in his first season. READ MORE: Football legend Zinedine Zidane to champion equal opportunities in new Alpine ambassador role "Andrea Kimi Antonelli will graduate to FRECA after an outstanding double title winning F4 campaign and a strong start to 2023, winning the Formula Regional Middle East championship. "Alex Powell is leading our group of drivers on the international karting scene alongside Yuanpu Cui and Luna Fluxa; they all have the experience to deliver strong seasons. We are also pleased to welcome the talented Kenzo Craigie to our programme in 2023, becoming our youngest junior as he tackles the British karting championships." via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com

The real-life adventures of teen racer Noda Juju adapted by manga creator Inuwashi
Tumblr media
Noda Juju is a prodigy in the racing circuit and has gained an immense following over the years due to her popularity as a race car driver in Japan.  She started to drive small cars when she was 3-years old and gradually began competing against adults in tournaments.  She was 14 years old when she won her debut race at Danish F4 in June of 2020. She made headlines in the Formula 4 division in Europe and is currently practicing for the 2022 W-Series in Spain; her dream is to one day become the first woman to win Formula 1.  Aside from that, she’s just a regular 16-year-old trying to juggle school and her English classes. When she met manga creator, Inuwashi in 2021, she was excited at the idea of adapting her story into a manga series on YouTube.
Inuwashi is a veteran manga creator who has worked as an assistant for other artists in the past.  When Noda and Inuwashi sat down to talk about the series, Noda felt she could trust Inuwashi with her story and hopes it can be an inspiration to other girls that want to compete in male dominated sports.
Noda was introduced to racing by watching her father, Noda Hideki, compete in prestigious racing categories such as Formula 1 (F1) and 24 Hours of Le Mans.  Noda Hideki opened his own non-profit organization called “Noda Racing Academy” and has been mentoring his daughter in her racing career.

More countries are looking to buy second-hand fighters
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 01/01/2022 - 12:33 in Military
Venezuelan Air Force F-16 fighters.
Venezuelan Air Force F-16 fighters.
In recent months, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of countries that have chosen to buy second-hand fighters for their air forces.
Malaysia wants to expand its small fleet of eight F-18 Hornet fighters. However, he is not looking for additional Hornets from the United States. Instead, he expects Kuwait to agree to sell his F-18 fleet.
Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, Malaysia's deputy defense minister, recently said Kuala Lumpur wants to buy all 33 Kuwaiti Hornets "ready for action".
Tumblr media
F-18 Hornet the Kuwait Air Force.
The acquisition of the Kuwaiti fleet to the Royal Malaysian Air Force “certainly will increase the level of preparedness and capacity of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) to safeguard the country's airspace,” he added.
Subsequently, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense denied reports that there was any negotiation about a potential sale of its F-18s stating that “any negotiations to sell Ministry of Defense property ammunition would be declared directly.”
Several countries recently bought or sought second-hand fighters to strengthen their air forces.
In December, the Romanian parliament approved the purchase of 32 used F-16 fighters from Norway.
Tumblr media
Royal Norwegian Air Force F-16 fighter.
The Scandinavian country is replacing its F-16 fleet with fifth-generation F-35 and is willing to sell its used F-16s to another NATO country. Romania currently operates 17 F-16 jets. The acquisition of Norwegian fighters would more than double the size of this fleet and allow Bucharest to replace its much older Soviet-era MiG-21 'Fishbed' jets.
Croatia also operates old-fashioned MiG-21s. In November, Zagreb signed an agreement with France to acquire 12 used Dassault Rafale F3-R fighters from the French Air Force. France will order 12 new Rafale F4 jets in 2023 to replace those old F3-Rs from its air force.
Tumblr media
Royal Danish Air Force F-16.
Denmark is also acquiring F-35s and plans to sell its F-16s gradually. There was speculation, denied by Turkey's pro-government press, that Ankara might be interested in buying these jets.
Turkey was banned from acquiring F-35s after purchasing the advanced Russian S-400 air defense missile systems. Now she wants to update her F-16s so that they can remain operational and up to date in the near future. As part of this effort, she requested 40 advanced F-16s Block 70 fighters from the United States, along with 80 modernization kits for her existing fleet, which includes former F-16s Block 30.
The US Congress may not approve the agreement due to its objections to many policies of the current Turkish government, including, but not limited to, its defense ties with Russia.
In addition, even if Turkey was interested in buying Danish F-16s, Copenhagen would not be allowed to sell them to Turkey without first obtaining Washington's permission.
Tumblr media
Iran shows interest in Venezuela's F-16 fighters.
In 2006, Venezuela threatened to sell Iran its fleet of 21 F-16 fighters, acquired in the early 1980s.
“Without the written consent of the United States, you cannot transfer these defense articles and, in this case, the F-16s, to a third country,” U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack warned Caracas at the time.
Greece is currently upgrading its existing fleet of F-16s and Mirage 2000s. Last January, Greece also ordered 18 Rafales from France, 12 of which are used, in a 2.5 billion euros business (approximately $2.8 billion).
Tumblr media
Greece bought Rafale fighters used by France.
In September, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis revealed that the southern European country would buy six more, bringing the total number to 24.
In July, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar ridiculed Greece's military increase by saying: "It is not possible to change the balance of power with some jets used".
The United Arab Emirates, which has just ordered 80 new and shiny Rafale F4 jets from France, can also sell its Mirage 2000 to Greece, with which it has a defense pact, in the near future.
There has also been reasonable speculation that one of the reasons why Israel did not seek the new F-15EX for its air force is that it is waiting for the opportunity to acquire used F-15 surpluses. Getting these older used jets would be much cheaper for Israel, which could then reassemble and reconfigure them to meet the required specifications - something the country has extensive experience and expertise in doing.
Tumblr media
Israeli Air Force F-15I "Ra'am" fighters.
“If you can get 80% of what you absolutely need from additional F-15s for 20% of the cost by purchasing used jets, it can be a very difficult proposal to pass,” Tyler Rogoway wrote on The War Zone website.
Although older used jets are invariably cheaper, they can also come with fuselages with reduced service life, which could require maintenance and more expensive spare parts than an unused fighter just out of the assembly line.
Canada recently bought seven used F-18s from Australia to strengthen its CF-18 fleet. The slow integration of these jets used in the country's air force angered conservative opposition in the country.
Conservative defense critic James Bezan expressed particular indignation at the situation.
Tumblr media
RAAF F-18 Hornet fighters.
"This is strictly an exercise in futility," he said in December 2020. “Here they are buying 18 rusty and old Australian fighter jets, which the general auditor told not to buy ... So why are we wasting taxpayer money and the resources of the Canadian Armed Forces to put these old planes into service?”
In 2018, Russia offered to sell 21 used MiG-29 Fulcrums fighters to India at a big discount. New Delhi was skeptical about the offer, fearing that "hidden costs" would make the acquisition more expensive over time.
Tumblr media
Russia offered MiG-29 jets to strengthen the Indian Air Force.
Using a metaphor that appropriately summarizes the disadvantage of acquiring older used fighters, the sources of the time appropriately compared the proposed agreement with the MiG-29 to the purchase of a printer. Although buying the actual printer may not be so expensive, the ink cartridges needed to use it may be prohibitively expensive in the long term.
On the other hand, India is buying 24 used Mirage 2000s jets from France to help provide 300 essential spare parts for its existing Mirages fleet.
Tumblr media
India decided to buy Mirage 2000 jets from France to strengthen its fleet of delta wing jets.
“Of the 24 fighters, 13 are in perfect condition with the engine and fuselage intact, with eight of them (almost half a squadron) ready to fly after maintenance,” the government said in September. “The remaining 11 fighters are partially complete, but with fuel tanks and ejectable seats, which will be removed to secure parts for the two existing IAF (Indian Air Force) fighter squadrons.”

Japanese racing prodigy Juju Noda will move to the United States for her second season in Formula 4, joining Jay Howard Driver Development in the country’s national championship.
The 14-year-old was known before her teenaged years after testing single-seaters and racing Formula 3 cars in a Japanese category called Formula U17. Last year she moved to Denmark with ex-Formula 1 driver father Hideki’s Noda Racing team.
In Danish F4 she took pole for all three rounds, won her first race and came sixth in the points. Noda then made the shortlist of the FIA’s Girls on Track Rising Stars programme, which included F4 running, and tested with JHDD over winter.
