A while back I drew a panel from one of @mickules comics. I really love these two's dynamic. They are definitely two of my favorite captives from danganronpa. I have come up with further backstory for these two as well, I'll share this headcanon later. I also posted this onto my Instagram as well!

My friend originally introduced me to this creator a while back, and once i saw this panel I instantly wanted to draw it or at least something similar and this is what came of it. I love how this turned out.

SUBJECT: THE CAPTIVES OF DESPAIR

A group of 14 people has been classified as terrorists to the Future Foundation. This group is dubbed the captives of despair. This group, unfortunately, has great importance to the 15th branch as it is the loved ones of the 78th class. They were captured as motives for the 78th class to motivate them to kill. When that didn’t work, the captives were forced to watch their loved ones being tortured over and over again. Each one presumed that their loved one was dead and they all ended up spiraling into an deep, unwavering despair. Each member has caused chaos in Towa City and has even scared the Warriors of Hope “shitless”.  Members of the group are Kanon Nakajima, Komaru Neagi, Hiroko Hagakure, Taakiaki Ishimaru, Fujiko Yamada, Kameko, Grand Bois Cher Ludenburg, Fuhito kirigiri, Takemichi Yukimaru, Taichi Fujisaki, Yuta Asahina, Kenishiro, Aloysis Pennyworth, and Ayaka Hanemya. It should be noted that somehow Kameko and Grand Bois were originally animals but now have humanoid forms. We have no clue how they got transformed. We presumed it was so that they could feel despair and so that they could understand what was happing to their owners fully. Agents Fukawa and Ludenburg were surprised by their pets transformations. 

Most of the captives work alone but there are two separate groups. One consists of Fuhito and Takiaaki. They work together and cause mayhem by twisting the law and framing others for murder. The other one consists of Kanon, Hiroko and Ayaka. They work together to lure and kill people with the promise of shelter and hospitality. These two groups are highly dangerous as unlike the individual members, their reach is farther. The agents connected to these members were in great distress when learn of this.

There are also locations where some of the members reside. Locations include the abandoned towa factory, the detective library, TAT TV headquarters, Antoinette Casino, and the abandoned apartment building that has now been turned into a lab of sorts. While we know their bases of operations, we have found it difficult to catch the members of The Captives of Despair regardless.

something about mondo and his fucked up view of masculinity befriending and eventually entrusting his own community of what he considers to be peak masculinity (his gang) to someone who’s smaller, has softer features, and doesn’t even have any attraction to girls whatsoever.

there’s a point i can make about how much mondo’s friendship with takemichi means to him. about how he was able to look past some of his own views of masculinity because he sees michi as someone who’s strong and capable enough to inherit the gang from him and keep it going strong, despite having some characteristics that don’t really fit into the whole “straight alpha male” mold.

i just think it’s a nice thing to ponder.

#like I know there’s actually no conclusive evidence to make any actual claim of how mondo and michi friendship was like #but i mean- michi is obviously someone mondo holds very near and dear to his heart (hence why he’s a captive) #but he’s not really the kind of person someone would have guessed mondo befriending #let alone making his second. so it kind of says a lot that mondo trusts him that much despite some of michi’s features #like there’s a lot you can assume from that #danganronpa #mondo owada #takemichi yukimaru #ramblepuff

I feel like the TTH survivors would absolutely want to know and talk to their classmates' captives. After all, they were the last people to see their loved ones in person alive. The only problem? All 6 of them feel like the captives wouldn't want to see them at all. After all, they were the people who voted for some of their loved ones to die. So, they never approach them.

Hiroko, of course, was not having it.

I’m never gonna recover from how good the execution tracks in danganronpa were,, they just added this sort of dark whimsy to the executions that matched the Monokuma’s energy perfectly, and the way the music got grittier and the voice-like chorus got louder towards the end of each one is SO good. Not to mention how it was changed up for each characters’! Mondo and Junko’s are probably my favorites from the whole game
