I still can’t get over how well Dana Snyder pulled the ‘Acting for two/Significant double casting’ trick in TGAMM whenever I think of it.

His voice is so recognizable in almost anything he does, which was the case with Scratch. And yet you couldn’t tell he was voicing Todd (until the finale) unless you looked it up, because the voice sounds too low and too average. I want to know WHAT vocal trick he pulled to accomplish that–was it a vocal warm up and he went as low as he could before speaking at that range?

And whenever I think of that exact moment we see Todd sing with Scratch’s voice–the first time we see and hear Todd using his true voice–I still get a bit of that shock to my system that I got the first time I saw it. Because I was so used to hearing that voice coming from ONLY Scratch, and then to see it come out of this person is so strange, and yet it felt like that voice actually fit that specific character. Like that WAS his true voice and not that low monotone that we heard until that exact moment.

And then the way Scratch talks and sings during that point feels as if Dana is almost playing a third character. Like, Scratch doesn’t sound so cartoonish anymore, and his voice doesn’t feel like a typical character voice anymore–he sounds like an actual person, but you can hear their pain and regret that feels almost all too real. We are hearing the person he was before his body and soul split apart. We are finally hearing the true voice of Scratch/Todd.

So I started watching "The Ghost and Molly McGee" for two reasons. 1) My husband and his best friend both love ATHF and Dana Synder and 2) The scene where Scratch doesn't rob a bank, he robbed a credit union(I work for a credit union).

It's cute. It's no "Gravity Falls" or "The Owl House", but it's fun and adorable. I've enjoyed watching it. I know I'm late to the game, like most things, but it is what it is.

Anyway, I watched the episode "A Period Piece" the other day and I am just absolutely blown away by it.

I'm 36. Cartoons back in my day didn't talk about periods, and if they did, they were water downed, full of euphemisms with characters I did not relate to in the least.

I just love "A Period Piece". I love that Andrea flat out states Libby got her period. I love that Andrea flat out states that Libby needs tampons or pads. I love that Andrea has a second pair of pajamas in case she bleeds through and it's treated as normal (which it is) and not treated scornfully. I love that Pete the Dad is 100% there for Molly, ready to talk to her and support her instead of shying away, and when he finds out it's his daughter's friend, he immediately jumps into action to help her. I love that Pete goes right to the aisle with the pads and tampons without hesitation or fear, and that he acknowledges what menstruation product might work for one person might not work for a different one, and the joke is he buys everything in sight, not that he's afraid of periods or anything.

It's just great to see a show address menstruation like this. There's no shame or anything, it's a normal part of life.

I would love to know how much Dana Snyder knew about the big twist regarding Scratch. Like did he know WHY he was voicing two characters from the start, or did they keep him in the dark until he saw the artwork or figured it out on his own? (I was assuming Todd was going to be related to Scratch but I didn’t even think of the wraith theory until someone pointed it out around the time the season 1 finale aired. So I could only imagine Dana’s reaction to the reveal.) 

Also I’d love to know how that directing went when it came to Todd. Was it like “Hey Dana? Can you do a creepy monotone? Also can you drop your voice a bit so that it’s hard for the audience to notice that it is you voicing this character?” And then after the reveal they were all “Ok you can finally speak with the Scratch voice with this character now. It’s probably going to be weird as hell for the veiwers but they suspected this for a long time.”

I’d like to know if he will mention it during the charity stream.
