Auroral Storm over Lapland: On some nights the sky is the best show in town. On this night, auroras ruled the sky, and the geomagnetic storm that created this colorful sky show originated from an increasingly active Sun. Surprisingly, since the approaching solar CME the day before had missed the Earth, it was not expected that this storm would create auroras. In the foreground, two happily surprised aurora hunters contemplate the amazing and rapidly changing sky. Regardless of forecasts, though, auroras were reported in the night skies of Earth not only in the far north, but as far south as New Mexico, USA. As captured in a wide-angle image above Saariselkä in northern Finnish Lapland, a bright aurora was visible with an unusually high degree of detail, range of colors, and breadth across the sky. The vivid yellow, green, red and purple auroral colors are caused by oxygen and nitrogen atoms high in Earth's atmosphere reacting to incoming electrons.

Vu qu'une énième polémique est venue invisibiliser le plus important : l'histoire des victimes, voici un article super intéressant sur le travail d'historien de Laurent Joly qui a récemment sorti un bouquin sur la rafle du Vel d'Hiv.

Il a également participé au documentaire diffusé sur France 3 "La rafle du Vel d'Hiv, la honte et les larmes". Je ne l'ai pas encore vu mais j'en ai entendu beaucoup de bien.

Un extrait de l'article :

"La famille Dzik est emblématique. À l’époque c’est un foyer pauvre, la mère est handicapée et le père malade. L’un de leur fils a été arrêté puis libéré de Drancy pour des raisons médicales ; il souffre de graves problèmes psychologiques et d’un ulcère. Deux de leurs filles, Esther et Fanny, échappent à la grande rafle, mais se retrouvent livrées à elles-mêmes. Fanny, 16 ans, est arrêtée en novembre 1942. Esther est prise lors d’un contrôle à la sortie du métro en août 1943. Les deux sœurs se retrouvent par hasard à Auschwitz. Alors que Fanny perd ses dernières forces, elle supplie Esther de survivre : « Maintenant tu me promets, tu as encore une chance, la guerre va bientôt finir, si tu reviens fais ton possible pour revenir, pour raconter ce qui est arrivé. » Elle meurt le soir même, mais Esther survit. Paul Dini: When Bruce and I did the Harley and Ivy miniseries, it was certainly implied that [Ivy and Harley] had a relationship with each other—they shared hugs and kisses. I didn’t want that to overpower what the story was, but the relationship between them is so natural.

Paul Dini: The more I worked with [Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy], the more I could see [a romantic relationship] happening. Unfortunately, at the time, in an animated kids cartoon, you really couldn’t get into the complexity of that or honor what a relationship like that could really be. I am aware this last one isn't technically in the BTAS universe, but later on in the novel, it blends into the Mad Love comic/episode and then goes past it. I only used scenes that were originally featured in the comic/episode as they are just those scenes in a purely written form.

She cuddled up next to him and took him in her arms. “I know how to make some smiles, puddin’,” she said in a playful, sultry voice. A moment later, he was leading her down the stairs by her nose, pinching it so hard between his thumb and forefinger that she cried out on every step. “Ow-ow-ow-ow-ow! That hurts! The Joker shoved her aside and the jolly Clown Prince of Crime persona was back.

anyways, i definitely agree with the need for fandom to treat child characters as the children they are meant to be & be far more understanding of that which can be explained by their age, but it is also very interesting to me that this shift in mindset aligns almost completely with the diluted parenting influencer friendly version of. hm. explaining why the behavior is the way it is in a way that focuses on the incapability of children given their age whereas the science itself on that all of those explanations/reasoning for why behavior is the way it is is actually meant to be utilized and focused in on then working with the age-appropriate *capabilities* of the child in question.

like. okay, so. a Lot of the ideas behind understanding children's brains and working with the understanding of the child's brain come from dan siegel (a psychiatrist who focuses on the neuroscience of the development of the human brain through their life and the need to understanding how the human brain integrates as it ages to be able to understand the why of childhood behaviors and brain development to be able to manage them) and magda gerber (a child development expert who pioneered RIE & the idea of respecful care for the infant and young children by childhood educators, who janet lansbury, a former actress and educator has taken her tenets and since evolved into them into idea of respectful parenting and the push towards there are no bad kids, just infants, toddlers, and kids who experience normal, age appropriate behaviors). and these people's works are fascinating (even if i don't wholly & completely agree with any one philosophy myself) & are generally the go-to pop psychology when it comes to understanding why kids are the way they are. the things about "oh, x character is only y age and is reacting as a child would because they have the brain of a child & are still learning how the world works" absolutely comes from the base concepts of these people's work! and that's a very good thing! greater understanding of kids in fiction is my jam.

but, like. the pop psychology version of these ideas that are spread by parenting influencers & eli5 articles like a game of telephone until it hardly resembles the original spirit of the science is super rampant & is basically diluted down to mainly trying to tamp down personal *frustration* with the behavior in question by recognizing where it's coming from (ie/ they are a child and you have to recognize the limitations/incapabilites of the child to get rid of your personal upsetness about it) & an extreme focus on how *you* can manage *yourself* and *your reaction* to the behavior because they are selling something to you. the focus is on you having to manage the child's incapabilites.

however, that's not the spirit of the actual science they they were laying down. honestly the very work itself often does acknowledge & affirm parental frustration with challenging behaviors & and doesn't diminish the very real feelings behavior provokes. it's not about "well don't be frustrated because they're kids & kids are going to be kids" (after all, diminishing or ignoring your own feelings is exactly antithetical to what you're trying to teach them about not diminishing their own feelings), it's about "we know the behavior is frustrating so here's how you can use your kids' age level capabilities to reduce the frustrating behavior". the work is about parenting modeling behavior to teach kids how to exist in the world, yes, but it's most definitely not about how kids are incapable because of their age or what they can't do. the science itself is incredibly focused on what they *can* do and how you can model your behavior & teach them in a way they will be able to learn from! the entire point is recognizing their innate ability to learn, you just have to teach them in a way they're able to learn from! the point of recognizing the limitations of age/the current state of the child's brain development is not to dismiss the frustrating behavior as just to be expected for their age, it's so that you know how to connect with what they can understand and do to help manage the unwanted behavior. it's a small distinction, but it's there. to me.

On this day in 1968, Steve Ditko and Don Segall’s DC character Jack Ryder aka The Creeper debuted in Showcase #73. The Creeper made his first appearance in animation in Dan Riba, Rich Fogel, and Steve Gerber’s ‘The New Batman Adventures’ 1998 episode “Beware the Creeper”.

Enthusiastic reporter Jack Ryder (Jeff Bennett) is doing a story on the upcoming anniversary of Gotham City’s worst criminal, the Joker, at the place he was created: ACE Chemical Pant. Joker (Mark Hamill) and his goons crash this mini documentary and attack Ryder. Although Batman (Kevin Conroy) and Robin (Mathew Valencia) arrive on the scene, the Clown Prince of Crime sprays Ryder with Joker laughing gas and pushes him into a vat of chemicals. Once Ryder emerges, he not only has yellow skin, green hair and a maniacal grin, he has gained super strength. Jack Ryder makes the transformation complete calling himself “The Creeper” and wants to seek revenge on The Joker.

Meanwhile, Harley Quinn (Arleen Sorkin) greets Joker at their hideout and rises out of a pie celebrating Joker's 7th anniversary since his own transformation. Joker, however, is more concerned about The Creeper going around town plagiarizing his act. To help her puddin', Harley finds Creeper at a club confronting some of Joker's men and Ryder becomes smitten by Harley Quinn and starts acting like, well, a creep. This leads to a pursuit involving the Jokermobile, Harley hitting Creeper with her hammer filled with bricks, and Batman eventually de-escalating the situation by giving Creeper a sedative in the form of a patch that will turn him back into Jack Ryder. In the end, Ryder decides living life as The Creeper is too much fun, removes the patch and lets out a crazy laugh. Steve Ditko and Don Segall’s brightly colored character that debuted 56 years ago translated fantastically into this Dark Deco animated world, making “Beware the Creeper” an underrated late episode within this classic 1990s television show.🦇

Following Craig Erwich promotion at Disney Entertaiment by Dana Walden, Disney Branded Television CEO has been promoted as oversight executive of development and current at Disney Channel, Disney Junior and with Erwich across Walt Disney Television,20th Television,It’s A Laugh Productions,Disney Television Animation, Disney Junior Educational Resource Group and Disney Europe Animation.

Under the promotion Davis will have more control on development and more chances of greenlight of future animated series for Disney Channel and Disney Junior as well overseeing the control of renewals of current Disney TVA, Disney Junior ERG and Disney Europe Animation shows.

Shows on development for Disney Channel from Disney TVA from the following creative members “Cheyenne Curtis, C.H Greenblatt,Nic Smal,Lucy Heavens,Amy Hudkins,Monica Ray,Latoya Raveneau,Noah Z Jones,Ryan W Quincy,Raj Brueggemann,Dave Cooper & Thurop Van Orman” and shows on development for Disney Junior from Disney TVA and Disney Junior ERG from the following creative members “Jose Zelaya” “Dave Pressler” “Harlard Williams & “Yves Lola Stvil“ who now have even more chances of getting a greenlight order.

Since her promotion as CEO on Fall 2021, Ayo Davis has expanded Disney Television Animation with such achievements of bringing more female-lead driven voices at the studio, more female creators like Cheyenne Curtis,Chelsea Beyl,Latoya Raveneau, Kate Kondell ,Monica Ray,Amy Hudkins,Helen Sugland,Aliki Theofilopoulos,Reese Witherspoon,Natasha Kline,Emily Kapnek,Pamela Ribon & Lucy Heavens, expanding the studio with a original movies division with “Superfudge”,”Confessions Of An Imaginary Friend” & “School For Sensitive Souls” as well greenlighting “Big City Greens The Movie”, the collaboration with adult animation driven studio 20th Television Animation for the creation of young adult animated series,films and specials like “Rhona Who Lives By The River”, moving Disney TVAs serialized content to Disney+ with “Rhona” and “The Witchverse” as well greenlighting young adult animated comedy “InterCats”, Approving a joint-venture collaboration with Marvel Studios, Baobab Studios, Hello Sunshine and Point Grey Pictures with projects like “The Witchverse”,“InterCats”,”Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur”,”Tiny Trailblazers” & “Darkwing Duck”

In terms of creative leadership Ayo has expanded long-time veteran creators like Dan Povenmire,Jeff Swampy Marsh,Travis Braun and Craig Gerber with renewing their new creative ventures “Hamster And Gretel”,“Firebuds” “Hey A.J!” and “Pupstruction” with new orders of previous creations like “Phineas And Ferb” with two new seasons and a spin-off of “Sofia The First” under the working title of “Royal Prep Academy”.
