The Heretic: The Wrath of Resolution
Chapter 12
Tumblr media
In the opening flashback, Moon'Hwa returns to Skyhold with The Iron Bull. Where she must face her fate and a surprising twist that threatens to unravel everything she once believed about herself and Solas.
A jump to present and Moon'Hwa finds herself within the home of her rescuers far from the battle that almost took her life and...far from Solas...or so it seems for now. Moon'Hwa learns quickly that she must return the favor and save her rescuers from themselves. The Dread Wolf tracks her with the Anchor and without her Runecrafting glove, it glows brighter than any beacon.
CW under the line---This is a Dark Solas fic. In fact, I wrote most characters in this fic as villains, even Moon'Hwa. There are no heroes here.

Dwell Within Chapter 14: Golden
Live on AO3
Solavellan fluff as they navigate sharing their romance with the Inner Circle.
The morning sunlight streamed through the glass windowpanes of the balcony door. The sunlight warmed all that it touched.
Mara stirred under the sheets, moving to her side and cozying in with the comforter and her pillow. There was a presence beside her. Mara squinted as the sunlight was too bright.
“Solas?” She asked, her breath scratchy. “Am I dreaming?”
There was movement in the bed as the sheets tugged and released. Solas turned to his side, facing Mara directly as her eyes were mostly closed. “Good morning Vhenan.” Solas’ voice was tired and warm. He leaned in and kissed her forehead. “I am here. I couldn’t leave you.” With his right hand he caressed the hair from her face, tucking the blonde hair behind her ear.
Her eyes opened more to sleepily view him. “You’re here.” Her voice, while soft, had a tone of surprise.
It was a reasonable response. In the few months since Solas let her in, their meetings were brief—meeting in the Crossroads, in her dreams, or finding her at night in whatever fortress the Inquisition occupied at the moment. With the delicacy and secrecy of their reunion, he was unable to stay the whole evening to join her in the morning. He would often find her in her dreams, only to hold and comfort her as she slept.
This was the first time he had stayed the entire night.
Mara shifted her weight, adjusting her pillows, and winced as she let out a gasp. There was a sharp and burning pain just below her sternum. She remembered in flashes.

Bang Your Head (Cullen x F!Trevelyan Modern AU) Part 64
Catch up on the previous part - part 63 | ao3 Start from the beginning - part 1 | ao3
Amodisia and Alistair speak with Cullen over the phone, and Amodisia sheds a little more light on their mystery.
“What do you think?”
Amodisia looked up from the phone, eyes wide as Alistair’s.
“That’s … a disturbing accusation, Cullen,” Alistair began, his usual smarm and sarcasm absent. “Are you positive about this?”
A sigh preceded his baritone grumble. “No. I’m only going on a hunch. You mentioned something a few weeks ago about weird things going on in your office. And then there was the state of the case before we took over. Don’t get me started on what was given to us. They didn’t do any forensic analysis on the bullet. We don’t even know where the damn thing is,” Cullen explained.
Alistair nodded with each point. “Yes, it was a giant mess. I’m going to venture a guess that you have little to no evidence that proves this hunch of yours,” he stated, flat tone frustrated.
“We might have something, but it’s a stretch,” Cullen replied.
She shared a look with her husband, hopeful, but tarnished with concern. “Anything you have to connect someone to this attempt on my life will help, Cullen,” she insisted. “What is it?”
Rustling paper shuffled about on the other end of the line as Cullen mumbled to himself, searching. “Right. All I’ve got is a financial document for a company named Warden Capitals. It seems to be some sort of mutual funds business. The time-frame of this financial history is the key, however. Massive amounts of money were deposited and withdrawn from the company in the months preceding the shooting. Everything that was deposited was withdrawn, in varying amounts in what must be an attempt to mask the transactions,” he explained.
Warden Capitals?
Cullen droned on, but Amodisia heard nothing but the mantra of that name, repeating like an echo in a dream. Something in a memory long forgotten surged to the surface and she blurted out her thought, interrupting the call.
“Warden Capitals?”
The voice on the phone cut off and Alistair glared at her, confusion clouding his face. “Yes,” Cullen began. “Amallia pointed this document out a few weeks ago. She thought the company name was fake. It seemed to be out of place, but I cataloged it as a possible piece of evidence since I couldn’t rule it out entirely,” he clarified.
“Alistair,” she admonished. “They handle the entire Redcliffe police force’s retirement packages. It’s not fake,” she declared. “But how could anyone move money through them?”
A rare grimace creased his brow and pursed his lips. Pieces of the puzzle were falling into place, she could see it in his eyes as they stared through her, searching. And then she saw something in his hands. A memory stick she had never seen before spun between his thumb and middle digit, twirling with every flick of his index finger, and his eyes dragged to it with a slow roll.
“Amallia has a good eye, Cullen,” he began. “Keep her involved. And don’t move on this yet. I’m going to send you something Anora gave me. I also have a hunch, but I need to check on a few things to confirm it.”
“What’s going on?” Cullen asked, concern palpable.
“We think we’ve got two crooked cops, right?” Alistair started, rhetorical. “They were paid to fuck up this investigation from day one, then. The evidence should have been controlled and yet, this Warden Capitals business shows up.”
Amodisia gasped, an epiphany striking light lightning. “Someone knows about the cover up,” she breathed. “Someone in your office, or on the RPD, but they’re trying to be discrete.”
Alistair beamed his dazzling smile at her. “Did you hear my brilliant wife, Cullen?” he asked while holding her bewildered stare.
“I did. Keep it coming, I’m taking notes. Who’s our snitch?” he replied.
Alistair nodded with his proud smile as he leaned over the table, turning to the phone. “I won’t say who, not yet. I need to meet with the chief of police in Redcliffe, like I said. Just to be sure. We’ll keep you informed as we learn anything new.”
“Alright, don’t fuck around too long, Ali,” Cullen insisted. “I want to see you both at Christmas. Don’t do anything stupid.”
Alistair gasped with an appalled gape of his mouth. “Excuse me, but when was the last time I did anything stupid?”
“Yesterday,” Amodisia blurted, “when you thought sword fighting would be a fun thing to learn because you passed the old armory, and then you threw out your back,” she jested and his gaping mouth split into a grin.
“I was asking Cullen because his memory is shi—”
“When you threw out your back trying to pick up Duncan a week ago. How big is she, now? Sia says the dog weighs more than her,” Cullen interjected.
Aghast, Alistair gaped at her. “Traitor! Giving away state secrets to civilians!”
She smiled a coy smirk as she neared him. “What are you going to do about it?”
Alistair thought a moment, lips quirked and eyes skyward. “There’s a pair of handcuffs with your name on them,” he whispered in her ear as she reached him, hands grasping her backside and picking her up.
“I heard that, Ali.”
“You’ll hear a lot more if you don’t hang up,” Alistair retorted and Amodisia hummed a sigh that drew his attention back to her with a considering look.
“Call me back when you’re no longer torturing your traitor?” he asked.
“Alistair is a very thorough torturer,” Amodisia quipped. “Might be a few hours.”
An impatient groan sounded over the speaker. “Fine. Now that I’m stuck with the imagery, I’ll have to go take it out on Mal.”
“Tell her I said, ‘you’re welcome’,” Alistair suggested with a smirk.
With a short laugh, he hung up, and Amodisia turned her attention back to the man that held her in his massive arms. Alistair started for the bedroom, the phone left behind on the table. “Ready?”
A tingle of excited colored her cheeks and she grinned from ear to ear. “For you, I’m always ready.”

Sparring Day WIP/Snippet
It's the bare bones of something y'all, but I would like to share it. This fits into my prologue series which takes place during the events of DAI before everything sort of goes to shit...
For some context: Solas and Moon'Hwa slept together the night before and Moon'Hwa unfortunately woke up to an empty bed. Solas was nowhere to be found for half of the day. Moon'Hwa really isn't happy about it. Nevertheless, it is her training day and today she is training against a battlemage. Solas decides to take his place...
' Solas placed a steadying hand on the mage’s shoulder, “Eskel you are relieved,” and maneuvered in front of him into my direct line of sight.
“Oh, this should be GOOD!” The Iron Bull slapped his fist into his palm.
The battlemage slunk out gratefully, wiping his brow with his sleeve and the crowd absorbed his humble shape, while his replacement kept his eyes trained at my feet.
“How dare you,” I growled lowly, my fingers twitching with fragile rage.
“Ready yourself.” Solas ordered coldly with his head lowered, pulling his dawnstone staff from the leather holster on his back.
I couldn’t help myself, the sight before me provoking a deep scoff, and my wrists spun my daggers in agitated ringlets, “What makes you different than any other mage at my disposal?” The words tasted bitter in my mouth, and I swallowed the rest roughly before they could bubble out. Solas seemed unaffected by my regurgitating spite and raised his staff and along with it, my hair stood on end. The air crackled and sizzled, a tangible buzzing emanated from his direction and his eyes finally met mine.
“I am not afraid to strike you.” '

omg, I almost forgot! Haha! I was gone all day today!
There is nothing more profound than the truth...or more damning. Moon'Hwa is confronted by it, her own mind betraying her, no longer can she feast upon the lies of stubborn innocence, for she has the text that states her sins, and now...she has the memory to accompany it. Worst of all, trapped within an unknown place, he finally has her in his hands. Solas makes his permanent entry back into her life. Whether she likes it or not.

The Heretic: Cinders on My Tongue
Chapter 14
Tumblr media
Oh man, this chapter is a doozy.
The Inquisitor, Hawke, and Aveline escape Kirkwall and are on their way to Ostwick with the Inquisition in hot pursuit. Unfortunately, Moon'Hwa's predicament affords Aveline many reasons to fuel her regrets in aiding the deposed Inquisitor. The Gaurd Captain of Kirkwall and the Champion both have much to lose if Spymaster Leliana sets her sights on them. How much are they willing to sacrifice in the name of someone only bound to Elvhen legend?
Their meager bonds of unsteady trust are tested when the trio collides head-on with the forces Commander Cullen is routing.
When Moon'Hwa does find her clan in the later half of the chapter... let's just say... she wasn't the first to pay a visit. Instead of her brethren, Keeper, and daughter, she finds only horror and the remnants of malice. If only she had arrived a couple hours sooner, if only she wasn't left with a heart-wrenching choice. dun dUN DUN!
CW under the line---This is a Dark Solas fic. In fact, I wrote most characters in this fic as villains, even Moon'Hwa. There are no heroes here. Well, maybe except for Hawke, and honestly Aveline isn't that bad either. So I take back what I said. Haha!
Gore, death, torture, burning alive, mentions of child death, Oh my! Blood and body horror! MAJOR CHARACTER DEATH!

The Heretic: In Sheep's Clothing
Chapter 11
Tumblr media
Another flashback chapter but I promise it is interesting!
Moon'Hwa's victory is short-lived. She has forced her father into translating the suspicious tome. The Inquisitor has just signed her own death warrant, for these pages do not free her from suspicion but paint her as a conspirator, spy, and worst of all, an Agent of Fen'Harel himself. Now she stands on no grounds to deny it.
Worst of all, the Keeper slips information he should not have known and Moon'Hwa is alerted to her clan's true purpose and just who fathered her child. When it rains, it sure does pour.

The Heretic: Dalish Endevours
Chapter 10
Tumblr media
This chapter peers into the past, and Moon'Hwa having covertly left the Ostwick Inn on her own, struggles to convince her Keeper; who is also her father, to translate the mysterious journal found in Skyhold. Coming back to her Clan after all these years spent far away has done little to earn The Inquisitor a warm welcome. There is something Keeper Lavellan is withholding and it is looming over all of their heads.

Wip Wednesday: The Heretic
Spoilers for The Heretic  Also, this one hasn’t exactly been proof read yet so please bare that in mind if you encounter any ….undesirable configurations or misuse of grammar.
Something the color of emerald green peeked out from a slivered valley between two portraits. A fresco painting?! I gathered the disorderly miscellany into my hands with great care, despite my impatience biting at my heels, urging me to hurry. I would have to be more subtle than I was in Skyhold’s rotunda and knowing that thought slowed my grasping fingers and frantic arms. The whispers returned, swarming my mind with an insistence to listen. I brushed them off, I needed to see this. It could be a missing piece of this unfortunate puzzle, perhaps it held the journal, maybe another trap door?
I carefully cleared the wall of its decaying and friable camouflage and set the discarded papers at my feet. The candles rejoiced, casting vivid displays of amber, orange and gold galad along the grey lodestone.
Planes of grey that absorbed nearly the entire wall were interrupted by deliberate strokes of black. They carved into irregular shapes I recalled as familiar and chains of dabbles stippled into points, indications of something—mountain ranges? This was a… map. An informative landscape enlaced with the poetry of a painting. I waved my left hand over the fresco, just a fingers length away from the surface, hoping to illuminate every detail. I couldn’t afford to miss even the minutest scrap of information. My hand hovered over the circular green item that initially caught my attention. I gasped in surprise and my eyes were drawn upwards and downwards and from east to west. They were everywhere glinting back at me like daggers in the moonlight.
There were no names, nothing written to indicate where this was, only the blaringly obvious detail that horrified me beyond belief, the little green cylindular object represented an Elven artifact and they were drawn in all over this map. Covering what was now the Kingdoms of Ferelden, Orlais, The Free Marches and Tevinter. They gleamed in the firelight like the hungry eyes of wolves in the sight of a feast. As I looked closer, a red mark emerged from the darkness, for this fresco delivered it secrets within the twist of a methodical tease. Drawing its curtain back in a deliberate performance brimming with suspense and mystery.  There were red slashes blazingly struck through their centers, through all of—no, through most of them. I glanced at the open topped jar, its liquid contents flickered crimson, the smell originated from there. I dipped my finger in-- it was fresh, this was recent?  What did all of this mean?
I counted them, my anxiety growing with every stacked number, as every digit upgraded higher and higher until the number was finalized. Eighteen. Fifteen of them bore red slashes, almost as if they were being crossed off of…a tangible list. One of them sported an X instead of a slash, it was situated within what looked like a mountain ridge. It must have been the one I destroyed inside the mountain, I surmised.  With my finger I was compelled to trace an invisible line from one to another, at some points I strained on my tiptoes in my attempt to reach. I sought a link in this reign of madness.  Why were they all in these locations? There must be a purpose to their locations. These were his hooks after all, wedged into the fabric of the fade, the drastic tools in which he would rip it down. My finger caught on something sticky, red fresco clung to my finger. It was still damp.
I studied the artifact’s surrounding area for any potential indication of a location. It was situated in what I believed was near Amaranthine on the corner right edge of Ferelden’s northern coast, small strokes swathed in bristled blotches spoke of trees and then there was a sketchy waterfall…I remembered this one. The place I had begged for him to end my life, the place where he informed me of my clan’s purpose and the cost of death. The red slashes confirmed what I feared most, oozing down my finger like a mimicry of blood; this indeed was a record. A headcount of all his artifacts, and which ones were activated; a destructive plan drawn up in the melodies of paint. Which meant, if I counted the one I activated in the deep roads, there was only one left that remained untouched.  My arm swept from left to right as I hazily mapped out each location with my red stained hand, I felt like I was drowning in a daze.
I withdrew as I absorbed the shape of my work, there in muted scarlet was the outline of a wolf, the constellation of Fenrir. This is what will bring that wolf into the world. His wolf.  As soon as recognition struck, my head spun and the whispers climbed into screams.
(The constellation Fenrir has 8, BUT for this story it is made up of 18 stars.)
