You whined when your nap got interrupted by the blarring alarm and constant repeating words 'code winter'.
Holding your hands over your ears you turned on your other side, expecting your daddy to lay beside you reading a book but frowned when you found his side of the bed empty.
Grabbing your stuffie you got up from your comfortable bed, making your way to the door and opening it slightly, peeking your head out.
You saw several agents and trainees running past your room, all seeming rather panicked and your little mind can't grasp the thought of there being a reason, or someone, for them being so scared, instead your curiosity got the best of you and you decided to go and look for yourself.
Meanwhile in the common area Steve was trying to console Bucky with Sam and Natasha behind him, aiming their weapons at him.
"Buck, come on, you know us-" Steve placed his shield down, trying to show he's no threat to the soldier.
"Steve! Look out!" Natasha shouted all three of them throw themselves to the side when the couch was being thrown their way.
Just as the soldier started approaching them he got send back by a repulsor shot from Tony who flied in just in time, in his iron man suit.
"That was a 2 thousand dollar couch, Terminator."
The soldier now grabbed the gun he had tucked in the waistband of his pants, aiming it at Tony when a small voice had them all turning their heads.
"Daddy...?" Your bottom lip trembling you held your stuffie close to your chest, not understanding why he was being mean to your aunt and uncles. "What you doin'?"
The soldier slowly made his way towards you, aiming his his gun straight at Steve when he took a step forward.
While walking to you the voice in his head he kept pushing away became even louder than before.
Do. Not. Hurt. Her. I dare you.
When he stood before you he tilted his head at the tear that was rolling down your cheek, his metal hand reaching up to wipe it away gently. In the deepest of his mind he knows you're no threat to him and picked you up with his metal arm placing you on his hip, his other hand still aiming the gun at the others to keep them at a good distance while walking out of the room.
The others all let out a sigh, still not at ease knowing the freaking Winter Soldier has you with him with no supervision.
"What are we gonna do now? If we step one foot in their room we'll have a bullet in our head." Sam said crossing his arms.
"He won't hurt her." Steve assured them.
"And how do you know that?" Tony laughed at him.
"I just know, alright. As much as the Winter Soldier wanted to, he couldn't. Bucky would never let that happen, even in this state."
"You better be right, Capsicle." Tony pointed a finger at him.
Back in your room, you were sitting on his lap, trying to analyze his expressions but there were none. Cold and dull eyes where staring at you, not the bright blue ones that you got used to and loved so much.
"You not daddy?" You asked, nervously playing with a lose seam of your stuffie.
When he shook his head you frowned a little. It confused you how he can be the Bucky you've known for years now but also doesn't at the same time. It's like talking to a clone, a much more colder one at that but still you can't help but feel safe in his arms.
The soldier doesn't like to see you upset, some inner part of him feels the need to comfort you in any way possible.
"Call me papa." He said with a russian accent and your face lit up at that, glad you didn't lost your caregiver completely.
You nod with a small smile, nuzzling your face in the crook of his neck, your interrupted nap now catching up with you.
"Love you, papa." You mumbled, yawning before finally closing your eyes again.
The soldier hummed in response, his metal hand rubbing subconsciously on your back and feeling your body relaxing against his.

“Call me daddy.”
“What?” She was suddenly pulling away as if Bucky was made up of scorching metal.
“Isn’t that what you wanted?” He asked with a small smile, wiping any residue tears on his face.
What she wanted… he was only suggesting that she called him daddy because he thought it was what she wanted? Was this his way of returning the favor because she hugged him after a nightmare?
Now she was really hurt.
Bucky was unknowingly emphasizing the fact that he didn’t want this type of relationship, didn’t want her. He was only doing it to show gratitude.
“No.” She shook her head, getting up from the floor.
“No?” Bucky was genuinely confused as he followed her with his eyes.
He thought he was finally making things right, giving her what she wanted.
“I wanna go back.”
“What?!”
“I wanna go back, please take me back.” Her voice wasn’t even sad or frantic, only small and disheartened.
“Back where?! The couch is right there if you wanna go!” Bucky became angry again.
He felt rejected and he felt small. Was it his touch that made her pull back? Was it the daddy thing? Was he so repulsive?
“No, back, out of here.”
“Back where?! It’s the middle of the night!” Bucky raised his voice in frustration, the nightmare nerves barely out of his body.
Has she lost her mind? Why was she acting like this now? What was he supposed to do to please her and her little mind?
“Take me back to Mrs. Morrison,” she insisted calmly as she collected her slippers and stashed them back in her bag.
He looked at her with wide eyes and an open mouth, not getting what happened or where he went wrong.
She wasn’t even tearing up, it was like a switch has flipped inside of her.
“Just— just talk to me, okay? What happened?” Bucky fervently needed her to stop, needed to understand.
“Bucky was right. This isn’t gonna work. Please just take me back.”
Her words reopened Bucky’s wounds that her sweet gestures had once closed. What did she mean “isn’t gonna work”? Was he just deemed irredeemable? Again?
“But why?!”
“I just wanna go back.” Was all she gave him; no explanation and no reasons.
Bucky wouldn’t understand.
“You know what? Fine! I’ll take you back first thing in the morning. Go back to the fucking couch, stay away from me!”
She silently got the wolf stuffie, leaving it on the kitchen counter, and went back, no crying and no trials to correct him on his choice of bad words.
Did she really want to leave? Was she really going to leave him come morning?
~
When it was lit up enough, Bucky went for a run, trying to blow off some steam because he felt like he was about to explode.
Why did he let her in? He shouldn’t have done that. She didn’t deserve to get this close, no one did.
Did he seriously think he was accepted and understood by this stranger after 7 days of time together?
No matter what the purpose she was serving was, she could never understand how hard Bucky had had it.
Still, something kept pulling him to her. Something inside of him didn’t want her to leave him. Not now that he was used to her; that he wanted to be used to her.
It's been only a week and Bucky was ready to give human relationships another chance. She made him feel like healing wasn’t a faraway dream.
He was going to try and talk to her one last time and if she still wanted to leave, he would gladly let her.
When he opened his door, she was dressed and waiting for Bucky on the couch, ready to go.
“So you were serious about leaving?” Bucky asks as he kicks his shoes off.
“Yes. Bucky is gonna take me back, right?”
“If that’s really what you want?”
She didn’t trust her voice so she just nodded.
“Why?”
“Just because.”
“Talk to me like I’m talking to you!” Bucky snapped.
She remained silent this time, not ready for a fight.
“Why do you wanna leave? What did I do?”
“Bucky didn’t do anything.”
“Then what is it?!”
“That is it.”
“What?!”
“Bucky didn’t do anything. Bucky didn’t even look at Doll’s file. Bucky never even called Doll Doll.” Only now did her tears come back, rolling down her cheeks with ease as she spilled out all that she’s been holding inside of her, “Bucky never wanted Doll.”
“I— I didn’t have time to look at the file. We were in a hurry so I picked the first one in the batch!” Bucky tried to explain, but quickly realized what he'd said.
A sob escaped her at the revelation that she was picked at random, that it could’ve been anyone else and that he really never wanted her.
“That’s not what I meant. I— listen, at first maybe I didn’t want you, but it’s different now!”
“Bucky never even picked me?” She cried, her broken voice crushing his heart.
“I—”
“Please take me back.” She wiped at her face, trying to steady her breathing.
“But—”
“Please, Bucky, please.”
The way she begged him with teary eyes and a shaky voice made Bucky stand up despite himself to put his shoes back on to take her back.
He might’ve not gotten a chance to explain himself, but he’s done her enough damage and he wasn’t going to continue being the reason she cried when she has been the reason he stopped.
“Let’s go.” Bucky pursed his lips and opened the door for her, her bag in hand, knowing it will never be the same when he came back.
~
“Doll, now that you’re big at least tell me anything, dear. Did he do anything—”
“He didn’t do anything, Mrs. Morrison. I promise you. Bucky was nothing but a gentleman with me.”
“Then what is it?”
“It’s nothing. I just think I wasn’t ready. I shouldn’t have listed my little self as ready.” She shook her head with a polite smile.
Mrs. Morrison wasn’t buying it, but she couldn’t push her anymore.
“Alright, dear. I’ll go finish the report so Bucky’s therapist can get her copy in the morning.”
“Mrs. Morrison, please,” she held the older woman’s hand imploringly, “Bucky didn’t do but good. Make sure you’re just to him in your report.”
“Okay, doll. Whatever you say, dear.” She woman shook her head, giving up the argument before standing up and leaving the room.
It wasn’t the full truth, but she did believe she wasn’t ready. She wasn’t going to be ready for a long time, so it was better if she just went back home and let herself be grounded a little.
~
“Please, I need to see her.” Bucky begged in front of Mrs. Morrison’s desk.
“Not before you tell me what you did to her, Mr. Barnes!”
“I— I didn’t do anything.”
“That’s what she said too, but I know it’s not the truth!”
“Wait, what? I— please let me see her.”
“She’s not here, Sergeant Barnes.”
“What? Where is she?”
“Home,” the woman replied shortly, still mad at Bucky.
“I thought that was where they lived?”
The woman shook her head in disappointment, “you never read your copy of the file, did you?”
Bucky remained silent, too embarrassed to speak. Why did everyone keep asking about the damn file!
“No, they don’t live here. She went back to her life at her house.”
“Well, can you give me the address?”
“Of course, not! That’s private information and you two don’t even seem to have ended on good terms!”
“Please? I need to fix this.”
“You already had time to do that, Mr. Barnes.”
“Well… At least give me a chance to apologize.”
“I don’t know.” The woman hesitated.
“Please, I’ll do anything.” Bucky begged sincerely.
“Anything?” Mrs. Morrison smiled suddenly, making Bucky worry a little, but he meant his words nonetheless.
“Anything.”
~
“Corgi, calm down!” Bucky heard her sweet laugh as she approached the dog’s barks.
“You call your corgi Corgi?” He asked her with a smile.
“Bucky, what are you doing here?” Her smile quickly disappeared and a surprised frown replaced it.
“I—”
“Okay, I finished moving the new planters to the right side like you wanted— hello?” The man who cut Bucky off was offering him a hand.
Bucky shook it coldly, his signature frown staring the man down, “hey.”
“I’m Adam,” the man said with a friendly smile.
“Sergeant James Barnes.”
“Bucky, this is Adam, my best friend and neighbor, Adam, this is Bucky… a friend.” She introduced them, not sure of what to say about Bucky.
Meanwhile, Bucky felt something weigh down on him. Was it the fact that he wished she said more than just “a friend”? Was it the presence of this Adam guy? Was that… jealousy?!
“Right, so I’m gonna go now, but call me if you need anything, okay?” Adam said, looking at them both suspiciously.
“I will. Thank you for today, Adam. You’re the best.” She gave the man a hug, smiling from ear to ear as she did it, too.
That was a smile Bucky has never seen.
“I know I know. Bye, Corgi! Bye, Sergeant, nice to meet you!” Adam shouted as he walked out of her porch.
Bucky only nodded even though he knew the man couldn’t see him. He didn’t care if he was rude. Who was that anyway?
She was expecting Bucky to talk when Adam was gone but he just stood there, fiddling with the bag in his hand as he stared at her, so she didn’t say anything either.
She was done initiating. If he came all the way here on his own, he could start a conversation on his own.
“Who was that?”
“Really? You came all the way here to ask me that?”
He stuttered and swallowed, knowing fully well that he had no right to such a question.
“You seem different.”
“You mean big?” She smiled sadly, noticing how much more comfortable Bucky was dealing with her like that.
Bucky nodded guiltily, scratching the back of his head.
“Yeah, I do have a life and responsibilities after all.” She shrugged, gesturing to her house and the puppy by her feet.
She was disappointed to say the least. First, he gave her a terrible week with him, then he returned her and never looked back and now he was on her porch for no clear reason or explanation, questioning her and her life?
Still, she felt a spark of hope in her chest at the fact that he was standing before her. There must’ve been a reason he came and it couldn’t be so he could fight more.
Bucky felt embarrassed, tongue-tied with guilt as he’s forgotten everything he has been wanting to say.
Then the sky started speaking for him, thundering loudly and making her jump with a hand on her heart.
“Oh, it’s gonna rain. Let’s go inside.”
For some reason, he assumed she was talking to the puppy but when she kept looking at him, Bucky gratefully moved his feet.
~
Her house was the epitome of coziness. It was a true home and it was nothing like Bucky’s.
It had actual furniture, colorful pieces he knew were carefully picked. It had wallpaper and picture frames and kitchenware and cute mugs and plates.
Only now did he know how much shit she could’ve given him for the place he made her stay in, but she didn’t.
“Bucky!”
“Yes?”
“I asked about your favorite tea.” She smiled, motioning to a number of varieties on her shelves.
“A coffee would be fine.”
“I’ll just make you earl grey with me.” She shrugged, ignoring his choice for a coffee at this relatively late hour of the evening.
“Hey!”
“It’s my house, my rules, old man!”
Wow! Big her was kind of feisty and it was making Bucky smile.
“What do you have there?” She asked, looking at the small plastic bag that Bucky’s been carrying in his hand.
“Oh, I- this is for you.” He handed her the bag, cheeks burning as he was still brand new when it came to such gestures.
“Oreos! And wolfie!” She called out happily when she looked inside the bag, “thank you so much!” She squeezed the tips of his fingers, smiling at him like he’d gotten her a rare diamond.
When she let go of his hand to open the package and taste the cookies, Bucky felt fear settle in his chest at the idea of having lost her forever.
He watched her try to hide the hug she was giving the white stuffed wolf before slipping it to her curious dog, “careful, Corgi.”
She didn’t lecture or blame him about his treatment of her, yes, nor did she even bring up the week she stayed at his house, but would she be willing to forgive him? Would she give him another chance?
Instead of screaming at him, she was sitting him down on a comfortable couch that had a soft blanket draped over it and serving him tea and cake. What kind of angel was she?
“If you don’t like it, I’ll make you coffee. But taste it first,” she set the tray with tea cups and a plate with a couple of cake slices on the little wooden coffee table and Bucky knew the smell of this tray was the only thing missing from her living room.
Now it was all perfect. It suited her so well.
“I made lime key cake this morning so you’re in luck. It goes really well with earl grey,” she told him, trying to get him to talk, to tell her why he was at her place a week later at 9 in the evening.
But he only nodded.
She didn’t push him. She has done enough coaxing and enough pushing. She didn’t have to do that anymore. If Bucky wanted to talk, he would have to talk on his own.
But he didn’t.
An hour later, she was getting sleepy and the rain was pouring even harder.
“I— I better go.” He stood up, patting his pockets nervously as if to make sure his belongings were in place.
So he came all the way here for nothing? He found her house and rode on his motorcycle all the way here for nothing?
“No way, you can’t drive your motor cycle in this rain!”
“I’m a super soldier, I don’t get sick,” Bucky argued with a smile, heart swelling at the idea that she still cared for him.
“I don’t care. The roads are slippery. It’s dangerous!”
“But—”
“No buts. You can have my bed, let me show you the room,” she said, never giving him space for a reply as she led the way to her bedroom.
“You really don’t have to. I can take the couch.” Or the floor
“The couch is mine. Corgi cries at night and doesn’t like to sleep alone. He’s still just a puppy.”
“Why don’t you just move his crate to your bedroom?”
“Because there’s a system in this house, Sergeant. We’re disciplined people.” She smiled playfully, “good night.”
And just like that, Bucky was alone in her bedroom, with her bed and sheets and blankets, where all the pillows smelled like her hair shampoo and the air was light and sweet. He was in heaven.
Bucky took his jacket off, draping it over the armchair by her vanity and her perfumes caught his eye.
He knew he shouldn’t be doing this, but he couldn’t help himself as he picked up the first bottle and neared it to his nose.
Oh, lord, was this sexy. He imagined himself eating her up if he was to smell this perfume on her skin. It was captivating and it went well with her playful grown up personality.
He tried another bottle and it was a softer scent that he knew all too well. It was the one she wore when she was staying at his house. It smelt angelic, soft and welcoming.
Bucky had to stop himself from going down the line of perfumes because he didn’t think he could keep going.
He’d better go to bed and try to catch a few hours of sleep before the mind attacks started.
Grabbing a pillow that smelled like her, Bucky made himself as comfortable as could be on the wooden floor next to her bed, draping her overly soft blanket on his body.
~
“You call it a disciplined house but you don’t even have a dining table,” Bucky teased as he helped her bring the rest of the plates to the coffee table.
He was right actually. She lied last night. She could easily take Corgi to the bedroom with her, but what kind of hospitality would that be to give Bucky the couch when it was his first time visiting?
“At least my coffee table has space for more than 2 noodle cups,” she teased right back, hardly biting a smile.
Bucky raised an eyebrow at her sassiness, smiling like an idiot at how easy she made everything.
Talking was easy around her. Existing was easy around her. Breathing was easy around her. And oh did he miss her.
“So…” she trailed, pouring orange juice in Bucky’s glass.
She couldn’t stay silent anymore. She had to understand why Bucky found her house and came to her after he’d clearly proven he didn’t want her. She wanted and tried to be the bigger person, but if he had something to say, she was ready to hear it now.
“I— I came here to say I’m sorry, Bucky finally said the words that have been sitting on the back of his tongue for so long.
“Bucky…” she locked her eyes with his for a second, unable to read him, “you didn’t have to come all the way here. I didn’t tell Mrs. Morrison anything.”
The way she reassured him broke his heart. It was as if she wholeheartedly believed that all Bucky cared about was the final report.
But he cared about so much more. He cared about fixing this. He cared about her.
“I know. I did.”
“What?!”
“I told her everything.”
“Bucky— why?”
“I had to make it right.”
“Well, what did she say?” she chewed her lower lip nervously, worried everything has been ruined for Bucky.
“She made me serve a few hours at the institution and only when she got everyone’s approval did she agree to give me your address.”
“Everyone’s approval of what?” she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
“Of my storytelling skills,” Bucky replied proudly, putting some cheese on her plate for her when he noticed her freeze.
“Your storytelling— what?!” she couldn’t believe what she was hearing, a huge smile breaking on her face.
“I spent a few nights reading bedtime stories to the residents there and I’ll have you know I did a pretty good job, though most of them wanted lullabies so I stole some of yours—”
“Hold on! You, Bucky Barnes, read bedtime stories and sang lullabies to littles at the institution?”
“Yes, I did.” Bucky nodded with a shrug.
“You did all of this so you could have my address?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“I missed you, doll.”
“Doll?” Her eyes instantly teared up at the sole use of the name coming from him.
“And to tell you that I got to meet everyone that was available at the same time you were and none of them could ever compare. They’re all amazing people, but none of them made me feel like you’ve made me feel in that short week,” Bucky admitted softly, eyes hesitant to leave his fingers.
“I was terrible to you and you didn’t deserve any of it. I’m sorry. I know now that I should’ve been better.”
“Bucky, it’s okay,” she said with a content smile, simply satisfied with his presence as she passed him the bread. That apology was genuinely enough for her.
“No, doll, it’s not. I— I did the opposite of everything a caregiver should’ve done. It's just… you made me nervous, scared.” Bucky admitted.
“I scared you?” she scoffed in surprise. She wasn’t expecting this one.
“Yes. The way you were fully yourself, the way you weren’t afraid to show it, the way you did the effort to relieve yourself of whatever you were suffering from, it all scared me. How you openly cried when you needed to. It scared me because I didn’t know how to be like you. I didn’t know how to choose trust and kindness again after everything that had happened to me. Your courage scared me.”
“Oh, Bucky.” Tears rolled down her face as she desperately felt the need to hold him and kiss every inch of him better, “why didn’t you talk to me? I would’ve understood.”
“I tried… that day… but talking about it made me wanna close up on myself even more. It made me more scared. It wasn’t easy. It isn’t easy. And I can’t help it,” Bucky’s voice trembled as he fought his own tears.
He couldn’t believe he said those words out loud to someone else.
She left her seat and went to sit next to Bucky on the couch, her hands finding his and holding onto them for dear life.
“But when I came home to an empty living room after dropping you off at the institution, I knew what I'd lost. I realized what an asshole I’ve been to you. And I missed you. I missed you so much when I closed the door and you weren’t on the couch looking at me,” he poured his heart out to her with tears in his eyes.
She squeezed his hand more, trying to hug his fingers with hers but they were too short to fully cover his hands.
“You don’t have to give me another chance, but I felt like I could’ve died if I didn’t tell you how sorry I was and am. I’m sorry I didn’t give myself time to understand you and appreciate you for everything that you were, doll. I’m sorry I was so stupid and let you slip away from my hands. I’m sorry I was undeserving of your kindness and softness and love,” Bucky told her with tears pouring down his face, matching hers as she finally got to listen to all that he had to say.
“I really am sorry. I’m sorry I didn’t know how to be a good daddy to you and I’m sorry I didn’t try to learn. It’s all my fault because you, doll, deserve someone who would bust their ass trying for you,” Bucky sighed, “but if you’d let me, I’ll spend as much time as you’ll allow me doing that.”
“Thank you for finding me.” She threw herself in his arms and Bucky felt his soul come back to him as he held her tight to his body.
“Thank you for welcoming me back in despite everything I’ve put you through. I know I don’t deserve it.” Bucky squeezed her closer, the smell of her hair calming his senses.
“You’re welcome.” She pulled back to wipe his tears away, giving him a smile prettier than anything he’s ever seen, “now let’s eat before the eggs go cold.” She wiped her eyes quickly before grabbing the spoon and putting some eggs on Bucky’s plate.
“Does that smile mean you forgive me, doll?” Bucky asked hopefully.
“I forgive you, Sarge.” She smiled at him, what was in her heart showing in her eyes.
“You won’t regret it,” he promised, putting some food in his mouth to stop any upcoming tears.
They ate silently in peace for a second before Bucky spoke out.
“Seriously though, who was that Adam guy?!”
“Way to ruin a moment, Bucky,” she teased.
But Bucky didn’t smile. He remained silent waiting for her answer with a tiny frown.
“I told you he’s my best friend and he lives next door.”
Bucky’s frown deepened slightly. So that man got to see her every day huh?
“With his wife,” she added, biting back a smile as she watched his face relax.
“Don’t toy with me like that, doll.”
“I couldn’t help it. This is all new to me and I’m having fun!”
“Does he come here a lot?”
“Yes, Bucky. It’s what friends do, they visit,” she laughed.
“I don’t see Sam that often and we’re fine,” he shrugged unconvincingly, making her laugh more.
“He’s a good man, you’ll come to like him. Plus, he helped me a lot those past weeks and took care of my garden and Corgi while I was away so I owe him.”
“So I’m seeing a farmer now?” Bucky teased.
“Oh look who’s not so quiet anymore!” she teased back with a giggle, “at least my fridge never runs out of tomatoes.”
“Can I ask you something?” Bucky asked, his face serious again.
She nodded in reply, a smile gracing her patient features.
“Why did it bother you so much when I told you to call me daddy?”
She hummed, letting go of her fork.
“It’s okay if you don’t wanna answ—”
“It made me feel like you were returning a favor. Doing something because you felt like you had to do it, like it was the right thing to do, but not because you really wanted it. Yes, I wanted to call you daddy with my whole heart, but only if you wanted it too. It hurt because at the time I knew you still hadn’t accepted me for who I was and was just saying that so you could repay me for the hug I was giving you.”
“I’m so sorry.” Bucky shock his head in remorse, “I will never understand how you managed to put up with me for a whole week.”
“It’s because I know what it’s like to feel unwanted, Bucky. I know what it feels like to be unloved and unaccepted, especially by those who should give you unconditional love.”
“Family?” Bucky asked with a sad smile.
She nodded with a similar smile, “I know what it’s like to be more than your pain and anger with others only seeing the snapping and frowning. Little me doesn’t want anyone else to feel unloved like that because she knows how bad it all is. So she gives. She’s patient and she’s kind and sometimes I don’t think I could’ve accessed that part of myself if it wasn’t for her.”
“How so?”
“Grown ups are more cautious because they always have the consequences to things like vulnerability right in front of their eyes. We’re more likely to be afraid to show our hearts because we know we could get hurt bad because of it. Little me isn’t scared of that. She wakes up brand new every day. She wears her heart on her sleeve and trusts her love to do the magic.”
“You’re an amazing person.” Bucky raised her hand to his lips to press a timid kiss without much thought, “I guess I have a lot to learn from you, doll.”
“Don’t say stuff like that!” She whined playfully, cheeks going hot as she turned away shyly, “plus, do you have a death wish?” She raised a playful eyebrow.
“It’s true though— what?”
“I didn’t give you permission to kiss me,” she teased, reminding him of the time she kissed his cheek on her first day at his house.
Bucky smiled sheepishly, whispering out an apology even though he knew she was joking.
She shook her head, still coughing as she ran to the bathroom, needing to find any sort of cold medicine. She knew what this was.
Bucky stopped himself when she started coughing abruptly.
She’s been coughing a little here and there since morning, but he didn’t think anything of it.
Bucky hurried behind her, “what’s wrong?”
In a second, she was bending forward, coughing her heart out.
“Are you okay?!”
She shook her head again, trying to calm down, “I thought it was just a sore throat but it’s getting worse.”
“Let’s get you to the doctor,” Bucky said, worry eating away inside his chest as he watched her cough more.
He quickly grabbed her jacket and keys, leading her out to her car.

“It’s because I let you sleep on the couch, isn’t it? You got cold,” Bucky said, running his fingers through his hair nervously as he paced around the room.
He hasn’t stopped blaming himself since they’d returned from the doctor’s. She caught a bad flu and Bucky quickly believed it was his fault.
“No, Bucky. It’s not that.”
“You don’t have to defend me, doll. It’s because of me. I’ve managed to hurt you again. And I don’t even use beds. I should’ve never let you sleep out here.”
“Hey! Calm down please! It’s not you... It was me.” She released a sigh, biting her lip.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, when the rain got even worse after you went to bed. I thought I’d come out and cover the motorcycle so that it wouldn’t get all muddy and you’d have a hard time cleaning it,” she explained, fiddling with her fingers.
“That’s still because of me,” Bucky sighed.
“Come on, it’s not like you made me!” Her hoarse voice tried to reassure.
Bucky only ran his fingers through his messy hair again, not knowing what to say or do to make this one right.
“Bucky, please, I’m sick. All I want is for you to stay beside me and not blame yourself.” Her frown was back to her beautiful face and Bucky didn’t like it, “can you do that for me?”
He didn’t like how sick and scratchy her voice sounded either so he wasn’t about to make talk more with a throat like that.
“I’ve already proven I suck at taking care of you, doll,” Bucky chuckled sadly.
“Do you want forgiveness or not?” She joked.
“Okay, okay. I’m sorry. I’m right here.”
“Is it dangerous for you though? I don’t want you to get it too.”
“I can’t get sick, remember?” Bucky smiled, rubbing her back lightly, “I’m your nurse now.”
“Is that so?” She giggled.
“Yeah.” He nodded confidently.
“You’re definitely not dressed for it,” she teased, giving him her tongue.
“Oh, are you into that kinda thing, doll?” He raised an eyebrow, a playful smile she has never seen before on his pink lips.
“Bucky!” she squealed, hiding her face with the covers, making Bucky laugh.
The sound was heaven to her ears and despite being awfully sick, she couldn’t wish for a better outcome for Bucky’s visit.
“Shit, here it comes again,” she gulped before starting another fit of harsh coughing.
“Bad word,” he whispered to her, making her smile tiredly as she continued coughing.
~
“I don’t wanna go,” she whined as Bucky gently forced her arm inside her jacket.
“We have to. You need your shots to get better.” Bucky covered her head with the hood of her jacket to make sure she was warm before leading her outside.
“But shots hurt,” she whined more with teary eyes.
“I’ll be right there, remember?”
“That’s not gonna do anything!” She whined further.
“Hey!” Bucky pretended to be hurt as he helped her inside the car.
She sighed with a grateful smile, “fine, hugs or I don’t go.”
“Hugs it is.” Bucky smiled back, taking seat next to her before starting the car.
~
“No, no, no, please. I’m not ready, I don’t want it. Give me pills instead, give me pills,” she cried in Bucky’s chest as she saw the doctor get the shot ready.
“Doll, it’s okay, I promise. I got you,” Bucky said, feeling as helpless as ever.
He wished he could get the shots for her, but it wasn’t possible. He could feel something different about her. She looked like she was slipping into her little headspace and it made Bucky nervous, oh so nervous, that he might mess up and not be able to deal with her again.
She barely calmed down enough for Bucky to help her small hands lower her pants just enough for the doctor to have space to push the needle in.
She moaned in pain as she hid her face in Bucky’s chest, crying for real when she felt the strong medicine inside the needle spread inside her.
“It stings. It stings bad,” she sobbed, hands clutching Bucky’s shirt as he covered her behind again and made sure she was properly covered.
“I know, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. We’re going home now, it’s over,” Bucky cooed, rubbing and patting her back with his big hand.
“It hurts, daddy,” she sniveled in his ear and Bucky froze.
Those innocent teary eyes looking up at him like that made him feel a lot of things. But most importantly, they made him feel like he could do this. He could take care of this sweet girl without messing up this time. Her love would show him how.
“I got you, doll. Daddy’s got you.”

reader has a bad dream and struggles to maintain a balance between her big self and her little self. it doesn't help that all she wants is bucky, the man she wishes to be her daddy.
note: this my first fic so please be kinds !! i hopes you likes n maybe i writes more in the futures? thankies for readings, i lubs you 🎀☁️🫶🏽💗
Tumblr media
you were a lonely baby when bucky met you. you had your family, sure, but they weren't there for you in the way you needed them to be. you'd just had a fall out with your best friend and had began isolating yourself from everyone and everything
it wasn't until peter found you at school, crying on a park bench in the rain, that things started to change for you. that was a few months ago. under the false pretence of moving away for college, you left your family and joined peter at the avengers tower after three months.
everyone loved you the moment they met you. you were so kind, so quiet and well-mannered. just so doll-like that no one could pick a bone with you. they hadn't known you were a little, and they still didn't but they wouldn't be surprised to find out. they all protected you and cared for you like you were their own. of course, you felt very out of place considering how quickly everything had happened but they all reassured you that they enjoyed having you around more than you knew. and with peter by your side, things were okay.
the one person who was iffy about you at first was bucky. he was too scared to come close, to taint your innocence with his darkness. over time, he came to realize how similar the two of you were in different ways and he let his wall break down. he opened up to you in the slightest of ways, and so did you. your feelings of hurt and anxiety still resided in your heart, but the avengers made you feel like you finally had a home. especially bucky.
"y/n, peter, what are you still doing up?" tony asked as he barged into the boy's room.
"we're just studying for a test, mr. stark. there's a lot to cram," peter replied in a tired voice, running a hand through his hair as the only light in the room came from his laptop and the bright city outside his window.
"okay, well this isn't the time to be studying, it's 1am. go to sleep," tony looked at him sternly, ready to walk out. "tiny, you look tired. head to bed, alright?"
"y-yes, sir," you nodded softly, giving him a smile.
"goodnight, kiddos. get some rest."
peter huffed, slamming his laptop aggressively. this caused you to flinch from your seat on the bed, making him give you an apologetic smile.
"i didn't realize how late it was," he spoke quietly, moving your book out of your lap. "let's get some rest, bug."
"mkay," you shuffled under the covers and made room for him to come in beside you. peter turned on the night light he kept for you in these instances before sliding into bed, opening his mouth to say something when he noticed the pout on your face.
"what's wrong?"
"i don't have squiggles."
"i got you," he tried easing your worries, pulling you into his chest. "you're safe with me, now close your eyes y/n/n."
"thank you, petey. goodnight."
--
"stop! where's my bucky? where's my daddy? i want him!" you shouted at the man in front of you.
"he's not coming back for you. he's gone, you're all alone like you always have been."
"i wan' him back," you cried, looking around through the foggy crowd of people around you. you didn't know where you were or who you were talking to, but you felt so alone and unsafe.
"you're alone now, y/n. nobody's coming to find you. you're trapped."
--
you woke up to heavy breaths, jolting upwards as you forced yourself awake. you were shaking like a leaf, heart beating rapidly against your chest as you looked down at peter who was sleeping soundly.
"wan' bucky," you whispered through tears, clutching the blanket to your chest. you were feeling so little right now, so scared and vulnerable.
you didn't know what to do. you didn't want to go bother or disturb him. the man rarely ever slept, but what if this time he was? you couldn't do it. but staring at the clock that read 3:14am, you didn't know how much longer you could take it.
he always told you to come to him whenever you needed him. you never did for fear of wasting his precious time but surely he wouldn't mind, if he wasn't asleep at least. you took a deep breath, using the back of your hands to wipe away the stray tears you didn't know had fallen. you carefully hopped over peter's sleeping frame and quietly made your way out of his room.
the hall was dark, making you let out a quiet whimper. your fingers clawed at your neck as you took shallow breaths, wishing you were holding squiggles right now for comfort. he always knew how to cheer you up.
"miss. l/n, you appear to be in distress. shall i alert mr. barnes?" F.R.I.D.A.Y's voice boomed, causing you to jump out of your skin.
"n-no, no, no. F.R.I.D.A.Y, b-be quiet. you'll wake everyone ups," you whispered, staring up at the ceiling.
"i'm sorry, ms. l/n, it appears mr. barnes is already on his way."
"w-what?" your eyes widened, looking around as you heard heavy footsteps walking towards you.
your eyes cracked with tears as you couldn't see a thing, reminding you of your scary dream as a quiet sob made its way out of your mouth.
"hey, y/n/n, don't worry. you're okay, everything's okay, love," you heard the familiar voice.
"b-bucky, you here?" you asked the dark abyss, pulling your thumb into your mouth.
"hun, i'm right here. i'm walking towards you," bucky replied, not missing a beat. his voice didn't sound tired at all. in fact, he sounded more awake than ever.
as he reached you, he heard the little sounds coming from you and his heart ached. he carefully placed a hand on your shoulder, causing you to jump and cry.
"plum, it's just me—"
you quickly ran into his arms and he held your quivering frame tight to his chest. you didn't want to speak, not in the hall where anyone could find you. you wanted to go to his room and let everything out, tell him all your fears and get the reassurance you so dearly needed.
"shh, shh. you're okay, my love, you're alright. i'm right here, i'm not leaving," he comforted, lifting you into his arms and taking you to his bedroom.
he locked the door behind him and sat on the bed, running a soft hand down your back as your tears soaked the skin on his neck.
"what happened, bug? what's got you so worked up?" he asked quietly, pulling you out of his chest.
you made a sound of disapproval before shoving your head back into the crook of his neck, just needing to be close to him.
"okay, okay. that's okay you can stay there," he rocked you slowly. "but can you please be the good girl i know you are and tell me what's wrong?"
you hiccupped, nodding your head. "t-the.. the guy t-took me.. n.. n you was gone!"
you balled his shirt in your fist, sobbing so hard your chest began to hurt. "was— was all 'lones n he.. he saids you wasn't gonna come backs."
"aw, my love," it clicked that you had a bad dream, the hurt in your voice tugging at his heartstrings. "i'm right here, i promise you i'll always find you wherever you are."
"was s-so scareds d.. da.. mm," you shook your head and stopped, finally taking the moment to actually realize where you were. you were with bucky, you couldn't call him daddy. but you were safe, no one was going to take him away from you and he wasn't going to leave you.
"thought.. thought you were g-gones," your voice cracked at the memory. a string of snot clung to his shirt through your cries and you wanted to laugh but you couldn't.
he kissed the top of your head, deciding again to try to get you to peak out from your hiding spot. he cupped your face in his hands, observing your red and teary eyes. he wiped the tears away softly before kissing both your cheeks as you hiccupped again. your lips were plump from the crying, and he continued looking down to notice scratches on the skin of your collarbone.
he'd have to talk to you about that in the morning, but for now he needed to get you back to sleep.
"you need a tissue," he mumbled, reaching over to his bedside table and grabbing one. he placed it on your nose. "blow."
you listened like you always do, silent wetness still dripping from your cheeks but they were beginning to slow down. he through out the tissue after humming in satisfaction. his hands moved down to your neck, using his thumbs to rub soft circles under your ears as you sniffled. it felt good, really good. you closed your eyes, his touch being more than enough to bring you back down to earth.
"you feeling a little better, baby?"
"mhm," you nodded, wiping your face aggressively. "m sorry."
"no, no. don't ever be sorry. you're okay, my baby's alright. bucky's here, you'll never be alone, hm? it's all going to be okay," he pulled you back into his chest, cradling your head ever so gently.
"t-thank you, bubby."
he smiled at the nickname. "no thank you's. now, lets get the little one back to sleep, how does that sound?"
"sounds good," you whispered.
"good girl," he turned off the lamp by his bedside table and got himself into bed with you clinging to him like a koala bear.
he simply chuckled as you looked up at him, pressing a kiss to his cheek. he could feel your heart beating against his chest, it was still a bit quick but not as fast as it was before which was a good sign. no more words were spoken from you but he kept uttering words of reassurance until your breathing slowed. his delicate voice and the feeling of his hand tapping your side lulled you to sleep in no time.

Never in your life had you been so angry at a plank of wood. It all began this morning when Bucky left a note on your nightstand.
“Good morning, my sweet angel. Daddy has a lot of very serious calls today. Please keep the noise down and don’t open or knock on the door if it’s shut. Use your special phone to call me if there’s an emergency. Do your chores for today and be a good baby for me. Love, Daddy.”
The door is where you are now. Sitting on the floor, glaring at the smooth oak that you can’t tap on and the shiny knob that you can’t shake. You finished your chores, played for a while, and ate both breakfast and lunch already. Bucky was still in his office and he hadn’t left all day.
Your daddy spoiled you in so many ways: with his gifts, with his love, with his words. The only thing he couldn’t give you enough of was his time. His job was a difficult one with long and sometimes unpredictable hours.
He was able to make some changes. He trusted Sam and Steve to handle his out of town meetings so he didn’t have to travel as much. He also promoted Natasha from head of security to essentially his right hand by helping him with his larger projects.
These changes were so important. They gave you so much more time with your daddy, but there were still days like today when he simply had to do the work himself. Bucky also worked from home as much as he could so he could see you for lunch or even work with you sitting quietly on the velvet loveseat in his office. Him working from home was almost worse for you on the days you couldn’t go see him.
You daddy is home. He’s sitting at his desk where you color sometimes, on the chair with the best spinning ability in the whole house. There was just this one door standing in your way. You wanted so badly to knock and call for him through the cracks, but you knew better. You daddy was a stickler for rules, and he would not appreciate you ignoring his boundaries.
You sighed and settled for glaring at the door. Maybe your anger would be enough to open it without touching and then Bucky would be so impressed he’d have to take the rest of the day off.
Pleased with your plan, you sat on the floor with your hands on your knees and continued glaring. It felt like hours were going by. You thought the doorknob was moving, but it was just Alpine’s reflection as she trotted past. You kept glaring. Still, nothing moved. Just when you were about to give up, the sound of a lock turning echoed through the hallway and your daddy opened the door with an amused smile.
“What’re you doing here, sweetheart?”
“Daddy!” You reached your arms out for cuddles and Bucky happily obliged, even pressing a noisy kiss to your cheek.
“Were you sitting on the floor and waiting for Daddy? I saw you on the cameras.”
“I wantedta knock on your door but you said no knocking so I was trying to open it with my eyes,” you explained.
Bucky laughed. “Oh yeah? How did that go?”
You pouted and hid your face in his neck. “It didn’t work.”
“Aww.” He rubbed your back to comfort you. “Maybe if you ate more carrots your eyes would be strong enough to open doors.”
“Daddyyy.”
“I’m kidding, baby. C’mere.” He pressed your foreheads together.
“Thank you for listening to Daddy’s instructions today. You were such a good baby and I’m so proud of you.” He gave you a gentle kiss while your face warmed from his praise and affection.
You thanked Bucky, earning you another kiss and more praise for being so polite.
Your daddy was beaming. Anyone who knew of his title and past would’ve been shocked at the way he grinned ear to ear while holding you in his lap as if you were the most precious thing in the world.
“How did I manage to capture the sweetest little baby in the whole world, huh?”
You giggled. “You didn’t ca’ture me, I got you!” You held his face in your hands. “My daddy.”
“You better feed your daddy now, angel. Daddies get hungry!” Bucky playfully shook free from your grasp and bit your hands.
“Nooo, daddy!” you squealed. “Eat the food downstairs, not me!”
He stopped thrashing and acted shocked. “There’s food downstairs? Why didn’t you say so?”
“Yeah! And we can watch a movie and cuddle after dinner! Can we, daddy?” You clasped your hands together and bounced excitedly.
“Anything you want, baby.”

KINKTOBER DAY FOUR, TRICK OR TREAT
Tumblr media
[i changed the plot after naming this fic, so it actually has nothing to do with trick or treating xoxo]
Your daddy takes you to a halloween party!
Daddy!Bucky x Little!Reader
Warnings: DDLG themes, lovesick Bucky, slight mention of troubled pasts.
You are responsible for your own media consumption. Enjoy!
Main Masterlist ! Kinktober 2023
On days like today, you feel like the most spoiled little girl ever. Days where you wake up in fresh sheets and next to the person that loves you the very most in the world. He treats you all day, kisses you awake and gets you dressed. Bucky’s a good man, a great man. Never once has he made you feel guilty or inadequate for all that he does for you, both as a boyfriend and as a caregiver. His heart is as big as the compound that you live in, and he reminds you every day that it is for you and you only.
Your tortured pasts brought the two of you together, brought out his need to be relied on, to have someone to take care of, and brought out your need to feel tiny and helpless, to have someone to take care of you.
You beam at him now, and he beams right back down at you. His hands are caressing your arms, slowly pulling down the sleeves of your princess costume into place. It’s pretty and pink, a shade like ballet slippers and decorated in the smallest, most minute of sparkles. He’s dressed you happily for halloween, a dress he picked out himself. Steve’s party was already in full swing, but he couldn’t help taking the extra time to make you look party-ready.
He’s dressed up too, as a shining knight.
His costume is far more tacky and cheap, but he looks as handsome as ever. You squeal on the inside — you wish that you could convey the way that you feel when you’re in this headspace, when you feel this little.
“Do you remember our rules, princess?” Your daddy asks, slowly spinning you around to lace up the back of your pretty pink dress.
“We don’t talk to people we don’t know.” You recite, playing with your fingers slowly and idly. Bucky had spent the time painting them shimmering pink, even stooped your squirming so that they turned out perfectly. “Stay close to daddy the whole time. Ask daddy if I need anything.”
He’s pleased, you can hear it in his tone. “And? One more, baby.”
You wrack your brain for a moment, wriggling your toes in your frilly little socks. Then, it hits you like lightning, “oh! Gotta say thank you to Steve for having us.”
“Good job.” Bucky muses, turning you back to face him. His hands can’t help but reach for your cheeks and squish them together, your puffy lips jutting out. “My best girl, huh? You’re such a good listener, baby, m’so proud of you.”
You’re practically glowing. “Thank you, Daddy.”
“You ready, sweet girl? Think you’ll be okay with Daddy and his friends?”
You nod brightly and raise out a small hand. Your finger protrudes outwards and beacons Bucky’s to meet it. He does, of course, linking your fingers with a great smile. Your hand looks so small compared to his bionic one, and it’s so warm, warmer than you’d think. He’s all human, and all heart.
He holds your hand as you enter Steve’s home, even keeps them connected when the blonde haired man brings him in for a hug. Your hands do lose their hold on one another when Steve’s arms swallow you whole, and when he holds you tight and lifts you up the ground. Steve’s love for you extends just as much as his love for Bucky — you saved his best friend, made his life all the more better. How could he not love you?
Steve loves you in any way that you come, and when he sees the way that you grip tightly to your boyfriend and that wide-eyed look you hold, he knows that today is the smallest form of you that comes, and he couldn't be happier. The hug that he gives you is warm and all-encompassing. “My girl!” He sings out with a laugh, swaying you in his burly arms. The raven haired man watches you both with a smile on his face. “How’ve you been, huh? You been good for your daddy?”
“Uh huh!”
“She’s always good.” Bucky insists as he takes you out of Steve's arms and plants you back onto the floor, where you instantly curl into his side. His warmth is brilliant compared to the late-october air. “My best girl, aren’t you, baby?”
“You want juice, honey, or some pop?” Your attention is stolen by Natasha, who opens her arms for a big hug. You tae her up on the offer, looking up for permission form your daddy to go and see the selection with Nat. Bucky gives you a nod and a kiss on the forehead, watching you go with a familiar look on his face.
One of the upmost love, and upmost adoration.
The blond haired man watches the ordeal with a smile of his own. He chuckles, shaking his head, “She’s real good for you, man.”
“I know.” Bucky hums, watching you blush as Natasha compliments your princess costume and straightens up your tiara. He can just about make out you complimenting her kitty cat outfit over the music and chatter. “Best thing that ever happened to me.”
You don’t manage to thank Steve that night.
Bucky carries you out of Steve’s home with his arm pushed under your butt and your tired arms loose around his neck. You’d been so good all night, obeyed by all your rules. You had stayed close to Bucky and his friends, answered all questions politely and even played board games with friends of friends. Your soul lights up the room, your giggle infectious and, just the same as every day, Bucky finds himself wondering how on earth he got to be so lucky. He’s lucky as your feet dangle around his hips and your drool dampens his shoulder. The play tiara is now sloped and wonky on your head, close to falling off. You look a bit of a mess, but the prettiest mess he’s ever seen.
Bucky lifts your sleeping form out of the car with a grunt, and sighs when he gets through the front door. He might regret it in the morning, but he lays you in bed still dressed up in your little costume, but for now, he gets to stare down at you lovingly, in your purest form, and he gets to hear your beating heart.
And for him, that is more than he could ever ask for.

Bucky had never seen your eyes so wide before. He chuckled softly, thoroughly enjoying your incredulous delight.
"Dat's....for me?" you asked in a hushed tone, completely in awe of something so wondrous.
Bucky had to bite the inside of his cheek from outright laughing. They had found some individual snack packs of mini Chips Ahoy cookies the last time they went grocery shopping, and had packed them as a post-lunch treat today. They'd brought you up to the work floor with them, as it was just boring paperwork today. Knowing how much you loved your cookies, the small bags seemed like a good idea to try. They had no idea you'd react with such reverence.
Your little mind was BLOWN. A whole bunch of little chocolate chip cookies in a pretty blue bag, and all for you??? It was too much. You were overwhelmed with the indescribable majesty of it all.
"Yeah, it's for you, munchkin," Bucky said gleefully, his grin threatening to split his face. "You can have the whole bag since you finished all your fruit." He opened the bag and held it out to you.
You took it as carefully as if it were a Faberge Egg. Bucky had to pretend like he had an itchy nose- using his hand to cover his mouth as your complete and total wonder was so damned cute that it was making him giggle like a schoolgirl. He wondered how long you'd actually be able to keep quiet about this.
He didn't have to wonder for long.
You shrieked with absolute delight, jumped up and down, and then absolutely hurtled yourself at Bucky, who caught you with a laugh. "TANK YOU TANK YOU TANK YOOOOOOOU!" you screamed delightedly, hugging your Daddy as hard as you could. You let him go and popped one cookie into your mouth. It was so little and it was so good and it was the BEST. You looked back into the bag. There were SO MANY in there. You carefully extracted one, and held it up to Bucky. "Here, Daddy!"
Bucky smiled and shook his head. "Those are yours, baby, they're for you."
"But I wanna share!" you said, jumping up and down. "C'mere! Open!!" Laughing at your sweet impatience, Bucky leaned down and opened his mouth as requested. With a squeal of delight, you popped it into his mouth, then surprised him with a quick kiss on the nose. "Tank you!! Chew good!" you shrieked over your shoulder as you tore out of the room, on a mission. You just heard Bucky laugh at your instructions as you skidded into the next room.
"GUYS LOOK!" you shrieked with joy, holding your small bag aloft. Peter, Wanda, and Pietro turned around, curious, but were just as excited as you were when they realized the treasure that you held. You shared one with each of your friends, in turn, before running out of the room and back to Papa's office. You yelled 'hi' to all your friends and family as you ran past them in your delight, and they all knew you well enough to step to the side as you barreled down the hallway to your destination.
Steve sighed patiently. He could hear you blazing your typical path of destruction towards him. He loved your carefree and playful spirit, but was constantly afraid that you were going to get hurt in your exuberance. You flew into his office, looking more wound-up than usual.
"Hi Papa! Guess what??"
"Hi Baby. Whatever it is, it must have been important for you to be running around the floor like that."
"Oh. Oops. Sorry, I forgotted again."
"Yeah, I figured. What's up, pup?"
You giggled at the little rhyme and the resigned but loving look on his face. "Lookit da COOKIES!!!" You made a show of clearly walking- not running- towards him, and he grinned at the strained look on your face as you fought against your natural cheetah instincts. Once you got next to him through, you flung yourself into his lap, scrambling and squirming to pull yourself upright. Steve gave you little assists here and there, and put his arms around you once you got to your destination. "Here, I wanna share with you please!"
"That is so sweet, baby, thank you." He couldn't say anything else as you dug one out of the bag and tapped it against his lips. He made a funny face at you, then started pretending that his lips were glued together. He tilted his head at your, his eyes playfully twinkling. You giggled, then laughed as he teased you by not opening his mouth, and playing like he couldn't. You ended up smashing the cookie flat to his lips and pressing it in, not letting up, screaming with laughter. Finally Steve "pried" his lips apart and let you push the cookie in, then tickled you as you continued to laugh like crazy.
"Hey, hey, hey, what's going on in here?" A deep voice startled you. You stopped laughing, twisting around. "There's not this much happiness allowed on this floor." Nick Fury was standing there with his arms crossed, but you could see a hint of a smile on his face. You hopped off your Papa's lap and skipped around the desk to stand at the Director's feet. Ever since he'd declared you a part of the family, you absolutely LOVED him and always enjoyed a moment to bask in his coolness.
"Hi Mr. Nick!" you said happily, completely unaffected by his tough guy demeanor. "Here, I wanna give you something!" You held up a cookie to him. You might not have been afraid of him, but there was no way that you were going to ask him to open his mouth like your Papa and your Daddy.
Nick took it from your hand with a low chuckle. "Well, thank you, little one. How'd you know I love mini cookies so much?" He looked at you curiously when you got a very, very serious look on your face.
"I am about to blow your mind then," you said, completely solemnly. You held up the cookie bag for him to inspect, inwardly thrilled. You knew that you were about to change Nick Fury's life forever with your little blue packaged miracle.

Word Count: 1k
Warning: A small car accident! Nobody gets hurt but I know it can still be scary 💕
A/N: Thank you for requesting this!! Car accidents are actually one of my biggest fears, and I was actually involved in a little bump a couple weeks ago 😰 everyone was okay & unharmed but I was quite shaken up after the fact & writing this was actually very therapeutic for me 💕
You were full, you were happy, but you were exhausted. Tony’s annual Christmas party was everything he’d promised it would be and more, and you’d been kept up long past your bedtime for the special occasion. Bucky was never one for parties, but your excitement made him a willing participant in the holiday festivities. It only took a batting of your pretty little eyelashes to make him emerge from his designated brooding spot in the corner to color with you, and soon coloring became decorating ornaments, and by the end of the night he was laughing with glitter in his hair. It was the first time since he’d joined the Avengers that he’d ever stayed until the end of a party, and he could get used to it.
As he drove home through the dark winter night, Bucky couldn’t help but smile at himself. What a perfect night it had been. Your head lolled to the side and rested against your shoulder, and the movement caught Bucky’s eye in the rearview mirror. You were so peaceful in your slumber, the slightest hint of a smile peeking from behind your paci. He couldn’t take his eyes off you, even though he knew he should. Especially on an icy night like this.
When he finally tore his eyes away from you, the car was drifting to the middle of the road. There were no other cars, not out here, but Bucky still corrected the car a little too hard, a little too quickly. The tires skidded on the slick ice and sent the car into a spin, picking up speed until eventually you landed in a snowbank beside the road. The collision wasn’t enough to put more than a dent in the car, but the sudden shift in motion startled you awake, and your cries began to pierce the silence of the snowy night.
Bucky’s first and only reaction was to unbuckle his seatbelt and immediately run to join you in the back seat. He slid in beside you and scanned his eyes over your entire body, checking for injuries.
“Are you okay, baby? Are you hurt?” He panted, afraid to touch you in case you were injured. Once he confirmed you were fine, save for an accelerated heart rate, he unfastened your seatbelt and pulled you into his lap. It broke Bucky’s heart how desperately you clung to him, grasping at his sweater with frantic fingers. He massaged your back in soothing circles, shushing rhythmically and softly in your ear, but to no avail.
“I’m so sorry baby, I’m so sorry. It’s okay now, I promise.” Bucky chanted to you over and over. “I’m so, so sorry my baby.”
He sat there like that with you for as long as you cried; he would have stayed there until the sun came up if he needed to. Even after you’d stopped crying, he held you there a little longer. He couldn’t bring himself to let go. Even though neither of you were injured and the car was an easy fix, Bucky couldn’t help the guilt gnawing at him. He’d gotten distracted, he’d been reckless, but worst of all, he’d scared you. If he’d been alone in the car he wouldn’t care, but seeing your fear as a result of his thoughtless actions made his heart ache. It made him question if he even deserved to be a caregiver after this.
“It's okay, daddy.” You said, so softly he almost didn’t hear it.
“What’s that doll?” Bucky looked down at you.
“It’s okay,” you lifted your head from his chest and looked up at him, dried tears streaked across your cheeks. “Was an accident, right?”
“It was, but I’m still sorry.” Bucky hugged you tightly to him. The snow had stopped falling by the time he’d pulled over, so there was no risk of being snowed into the spot. Bucky leaned over towards your backpack in the front seat as delicately as he could, not wanting to disturb you as he felt you falling back asleep. The pacifier you’d been using earlier had fallen to the floor of the car, so he found a new one in your backpack and gently maneuvered your head to give it to you. He then found one of your blankies he’d packed and covered you with it. He stayed there with you until he felt your breathing fully steady and slow down. He could tell when you fell asleep, the subtle little things only he could pick up like your muscles relaxing and your eyes flicking behind your eyelids as your dreams began to unfold. Bucky held you a little while longer to make sure your dreams stayed pleasant, hoping the events of the night wouldn’t manifest into a nightmare. Once he was confident you were dreaming of nothing but sugarplums, he kissed your forehead and placed you back into your car seat.
It took every bone in Bucky’s body not to keep watch on you sleeping in the backseat. You were only a few minutes from home, he knew he could get you home safely. As soon as he pulled the car into the garage and turned it off, he couldn’t get out and to your door quickly enough. He managed to keep you asleep as he lifted you into his arms, carrying you into the house and disabling the alarm system without so much as a stir.
Bucky decided that after the events of the night, he couldn’t stand to be even a room away from you. Instead of setting you down in your crib as he got himself ready for bed, he placed you right down on his own bed. It was like you could sense the safety of your new setting, you stretched out your limbs before curling up into the comfort of your daddy’s pillows.
Bucky finally let out the breath he’d been holding since the accident. He was used to being hard on himself, but taking care of you was slowly teaching him grace. The sight of you safely slumbering in his bed despite what you’d been through was proof enough to him that he could change for the better.

Bath Time <3
Tumblr media
this is the first fic I'm posting, like ever O_O, so I hope you all enjoy! If you would like to send me prompts, ideas, ANYTHING hahaa, feel free to, and ill try to write out a story for it !! <33
‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾ 。:・゚☆*
Warnings: DDLG, bath time, washing your hair, cute nicknames, idk 🤷‍♀️
Pairings: Daddies!Stucky ; Daddy!Bucky x Papa!Steve x Little!Reader
Summary: Bath time with your favorite bath toys, and your Daddies!
Word Count: 1,842
*・༓☾:*:・゚★,。・:
“Lovebug,” Bucky spoke as he entered the playroom. "It's bath time, bubs." Catching your attention from your coloring book on the carpeted floor and glance up at him.
“But Daddy,” drawing the word out for more exaggeration. “I haven’t finished my blue unicorn yet…” you sigh with a slight frown.
Bucky kneels down next to you, resting his large hand against the back of your head reassuringly, and gives you a slight smile. “I know, bubs, but you can continue working on it in the morning, okay?” he says as he rubs his hand over your hair.
Still with a slight frown but hope now gleaming in your eyes, you reply, “Promise Daddy?” While staring into Bucky's big eyes. You study his face to make sure his next reply is truthful.
Bucky stares down at you, a loving smile overtaking his face because of how precious his little baby is. “Of course, I promise, Angel. Now, how about we get cleaned up and ready for bedtime?” You nod as he picks you up and sets you down on his hip, walking out of your playroom and towards the bathroom.
Leaning your head down on his relatively comfortable shoulder, you ask, “Could I have a snack after my bath Daddy?”
This question receiving a humorous laugh from Bucky. “Sure, Doll.”
♡༓☾ 。:・゚☆*
Bucky lifts you into the now full bathtub, steam seeping into the room nicely. Sitting down in hot water, your body immediately relaxes as you let out a sigh.
Bucky slowly sits down beside the tub, reaching over to grab something. “You want toys, baby?” He says, holding up a basket of all your toys explicitly designed for the tub.
Your eyes lit up, gaze catching on the rubber ducks and the bath crayons. “Duckies ‘and crayons, Daddy!” Excitement laces every word.
Bucky knew how much you loved your bath toys. Your cute reaction never failed to make him laugh. As much as Bucky loves your adorable little reactions, he still wants you to remember your manners. Pulling the basket away momentarily, he asks, “What do we say, Doll?”
You grin up at Bucky. “Please, Daddy?” Your hands softly splash around in the water as you squirm.
Bucky’s eyes squint at you, pleased at your answer. He hands over the basket. Left hand grabbing onto the side, you peer into the basket full of toys and spot all your favorites. You grab all the duckies and start placing them into the water. Then you spot the bath crayons you love to draw with and hurriedly grab every color and set them on the edge of the tub with the biggest smile imaginable on your face.
“Got yourself a whole collection, don't you, Doll?” Bucky says with a chuckle, putting the basket back down on the floor. With his legs spread out before him, he leans back on his hands to watch you play for a while.
You stare at all the toys now in the bathtub and try to decide what to start with first. Do I play with the duckies first? Or the markers first? You wonder to yourself. You choose to start with the markers and draw them a home! You grab the blue marker and get to work on drawing a house for your duckies as Bucky sits quietly to watch you work with a smile on his face.
♡༓☾ 。:・゚☆*
“Is that your drawing, LoveBug?” Steve asks as he walks into the large bathroom. Bucky gazed up at his husband. Steve walks forward and sits on the bathtub's edge to see your work closer.
Peering up at him, you smile and reply, “Yeah, Dada! For my duckies!” Steve gently places his hand on your back, slowly moving in up and down. You continue to look up at him, waiting for a reply. As Steve began to open his mouth to say something, your impatience got the better of you as you interrupted him before he could speak. “It's a house, Dada. For my duckies.” You remark, as though you have to state the obvious.
This causes laughter to erupt from both Bucky and Steve. Both men can hardly contain their laughter at how you stated your sentence. You weren't quite sure why they were laughing. Steve knows what a house is, right? You think to yourself as confusion flows through your little-space mind. You ignore the quiet laughter and continue drawing, adding little flowers to the windowsill.
Steve, still quietly laughing and failing at his attempts to stop, says, “I know it’s a house, LoveBug. It looks very good too. You did such a good job, Baby!” He gives you a small pat on the head.
“Thank you, Dada.” You smile at the rewarding words, feeling pleased with yourself.
“Okay, I’m gonna go prepare Doll a snack for after her bath.” Bucky stood up, brushing the wrinkles out of his shirt. “Could you wash her hair?” Bucky asked, directing his question toward Steve.
“Yeah. Yeah, I’ve got it.” Steve replied, moving over to grab the shampoo bottle. “It shouldn't take long.” Turning his head around to face his husband, he gave Bucky a quick, intimate smile.
Bucky nodded, smiling back at his husband and exiting the bathroom.
Turning back to you, Steve grabbed a cup and filled it with water. “You ready to wash your hair, Doll?”
Facing away from Steve, you squeal your approval and cover your eyes. The water swooshes down your long hair. Steve repeats the action, fully drenching your hair to prepare for the shampoo. He sets the cup down and grabs the shampoo, squeezing out just enough to massage your roots.
As Steve starts rubbing the shampoo into your hair, all you can think about is how lovely the feeling of his big, warm hands massaging your head is. You cherish every moment, the way you can feel his fingertips gliding through your hair, and the perfect hot bath water warming you up. You could stay here in this moment forever.
Steve pulls his hands from your hair and grabs the cup, filling it up with water once more. “You ready, Doll?”
You give him a little thumbs up with your right hand. “Yes, Dada.” You say as quietly as a whisper, knowing Steve would hear you no matter how quiet you were. You quickly, but carefully as to not hurt yourself, slap your hands over your eyes, causing a calm giggle from Steve.
Steve pours the water down your long hair, using his left hand to guide his fingertips through the strands and help the water remove all the shampoo. He repeats this action a few times until he’s satisfied. “Now we’ve just gotta do the conditioner and you'll be ready to go, Baby.” Steve remarks, attempting to convey a bit of enthusiasm in his voice to help encourage you.
“Can I play with my duckies while you put in the conditioner?” You ask him, rotating around to face him better.
“Of course, you can, Doll.” He says and begins to condition your hair.
You grab your yellow duckie, deciding his name is Albert, while Steve strokes your hair gently. You determine that your duckies will live together in the house you drew, not including Donald because he’s in time out. You set Donald on the edge of the tub farthest away from you, causing Steve's hands to falter as you move.
“What are you doing, Doll? Why is that duckie going all the way over there?” Steve asks, resuming his massage on your hair.
“That’s Donald, Dada. He’s in time out.” You say nonchalantly.
Your reply has Steve raising his eyebrows and halting his hands. “Donald the duck is in time out?” He questioned, beginning to laugh.
You simply hum in the affirmative to his question, too focused on playing with your duckies to notice his laughter.
Trying to contain himself, he ask’s, “What’s he in timeout for, baby?”
You turn around to face Steve, slightly amused by his laughter but keeping your pure look of seriousness etched on your face. “Because Donald stole Puddle's car keys, then burned down all of Daisy’s daffodils! It was so mean of him, Dada!” You exclaim.
Steve bursts out in laughter, unable to contain himself any longer. He doubled down, causing you to quietly giggle at his bizarre reaction.
“Dada, it’s not funny!” You declare even as giggles are escaping your mouth while you speak.
“I'm sorry, Doll.” Steve says, his laughter slowly starting to fade as he calms down.
You and Steve make eye contact, and Steve can't help the chuckles that leave his mouth while he covers it with his hand.
Once Steve finally settles after his fit of laughter, he says, “Okay, Doll. Let’s wash this conditioner out of your hair.”
You turn back around, facing away from Steve, and get into your position to cover your eye’s with your hands.
Steve takes his time rinsing out your hair, careful as to not pour any of the water down your face. Once he’s content with your hair, he tells you, “You can move your hands now, Doll. I just need to clean your body then you'll be good to go, Okay?”
You nod and proceed to play with your duckies again as Steve grabs a washcloth. Steve carefully clean’s you, thoroughly washing every bit of you possible. Once he feels that he has cleaned all up, he stands and grabs a towel. Steve grasp’s your favorite towel, a fluffy small towel in your favorite color, long enough to keep your entire body warm and cozy. The best part? It has a small hood with bunny ears!
“Stand up, Baby.” Steve says as he holds the towel up for you.
Your ear’s perk up at your Dada’s words, and you quickly stand up and face him. Steve gives you a small smile and wraps you up in the fluffy towel, picking you up from the tub and setting your feet on the floor. He starts rubbing his hands over your towel-wrapped body to help you dry off, doing so quickly causing a few giggles to escape you.
Steve, smiling ear to ear due to your giggles, kneel’s down a bit closer to you. “You ready to go get jammies on, Baby?” He says with excitement lacing his voice.
“Yeah!” You exclaim.
Steve gleams at you, picking you up and setting you on his hip as he exits the bathroom. You cuddle your head into his chest, feeling more content and sleepy than ever in your Dada’s arms. Right as you begin to close your eyes, you feel Steve handing you over to Bucky, causing you to peek your eyes open and squeak in excitement over seeing your Daddy. Both your Daddies chuckle, smiling at their little baby. You cuddle into Bucky’s chest, closing your eyes while Bucky gently sways you side to side.
All you feel is content happiness knowing that you're safe in your Daddy’s arms, and will soon be cuddled between the two super soldiers in bed.

Hey! I love the dark stucky n all but i honestly hate pink so that gave me an idea: reader being reserved and extra obedient and always freaking out if they mess up (and never going anywhere near the front door) and when stucky asks they say they dont want a pink room while crying
Awhhh but I loooove reader being sooo reserved and extra obedient cause she’s scared 🥺🥺🥺. And I think stucky would be super understanding and considerate if you didn't like pink at all.
So here's a little au about that hehe 🙈🙈🫶🫶
I’m just imagining reader accidentally dropping her sippy cup, making it spill everywhere🥺🥺…
((18+ minors DNI))
Of course, you start to panic, seeing the liquid spread all over the clean floor. You start apologizing profusely when they come to check on you after hearing a noise.
“I-I’m sorries” you cry over and over again, beginning to shake, knowing you’ve done something bad–made a mess.
“Awh no, Angel, hey-” Steve picks you up, noticing you’re standing where the liquid meets your covered toes. “It’s okay baby, don’t cry. It was just an accident.” He sets you on the counter as Bucky cleans your mess. You keep apologizing and crying. Steve and Bucky both reassure ‘it’s fine angel’, ‘don’t worry about it doll’.
After it’s all cleaned up, Steve hands you a new filled-up sippy while Bucky changes your damp socks, knowing they must not feel comfortable or help your distressed mood.
“How about we get you ready for bed early, huh doll?” he asks.
A simple question. But one that makes your already anxious mind mold into guilt. You didn't want to go to bed--Well, that wasn’t exactly true--You didn’t want to go to your room. Your pink room. It was perfect, in every way–except the color. It made you feel so bad. You knew how much they wanted you to love it. You didn’t want them to think you were bad.
“I’ll even read you two bedtime stories,” Bucky interrupts your thoughts, trying to cheer you up. He picks you up and sets you back down on the clean floor. It only makes you feel worse. You’d love it if he read you a million bedtime stories, but it just felt so hard going in your room. It just didn’t feel like yours.
You don’t answer him. Instead, you just stand there, looking almost petrified.
“Doll? Hey, what’s wrong?” he asks as you make no indication of wanting to go to your room. Steve bends down, leveling himself closer to you.
“Sweet girl, can you tell dada what’s wrong? You know we're not upset about the sippy, what’s bothering you babygirl?” Steve asks gently. Still, you only cry harder, not wanting to say what you mean. How could you tell them something like that? Wouldn't they just think you’re a bad girl who doesn't want to listen to daddies and go to your room?
“Jus-jus’ don’t wan’ daddies to be mads at me” you sob sorrowfully into your own hands.
“Oh no, angel...we won’t be mad, as long as you're honest about what’s going on in that little head of yours,” he teasingly pets your head. “we could never be mad at you like that.” He encourages you to speak up, taking your little hands into his softly.
“It-it’s jus-” you try making the words come out, but only more tears fall instead. Steve tugs you closer, hugging you as you weep into his shoulder. Eventually, there’s only one word you’re able to mumble out. Color.
“Color?” He questions gently, trying to confirm what you said, and pulling apart to look at you. You nod your head shamefully, unwilling to look up from the floor.
“What color baby?”
“Room.” you say quietly.
“The color of your room? Pink?” He questions. You nod your head, and it takes him a moment before he realizes what you’re trying to communicate. “You don’t like the pink babygirl?” He asks carefully.
You nod your head in confirmation but the admission only makes you feel worse, causing you to cry harder again.
“I’m sorry,” you say woefully in between sobs.
“Oh angel, no, no. You don’t need to be sorry about that,” You look up to meet his gaze as he wipes the tears from your wet face.
“Really?” You ask sensitively.
“Of course not.” Bucky chimes in, reaching down to pick you up. He bounces you up as he places you around his hip. “Why didn’t you just tell us sooner, doll?” you shrug your shoulders, and mumble an ‘I dunno.’
“I’m so sorry we didn’t know before babygirl. That’s daddies job, we should have known. We’re the sorry one's little princess.” Steve reassures, caressing your cheek while still in Bucky’s arms.
You look back to Bucky, wanting to gauge if he was upset. However, he doesn’t look displeased as only concern laces his features as he looks at you.
“You know, doll, I'm somewhat of a painter myself,” he says lightheartedly, causing a skeptical eyebrow raise from Steve.
“Oh yeah, that so?” Steve jeers.
“Absolutely,” he defends. “After all, who do you think painted your room and did all that hard work in the first place?” he gestures his head towards Steve “not that guy” he teases, making you giggle, bringing a small smile to your face.
“You-you’re not upset I don’t like it?” you ask, still feeling bad since he did it all for you.
“Of course not Doll. What kind of Daddy would I be if I didn’t know your favorite color?” he explains, “now tell us, what colors do you want instead?” you ponder for a moment, thinking.
“Any color you want, angel. Nothing’s too much for our little girl.” Steve smiles at you.

warnings: FLUFF, mentions of nightmare and sleep problems, daddy!stucky x little!reader
a/n: I AM SO SOFT FOR THIS, I'm struggling to finish my assignment that's due tmr morning so I wanted to work on something else to get my mind off it, and what is better than stucky taking care of little!reader hahah
Ever since you had a nightmare a few weeks ago, you refused to go to sleep unless either Bucky or Steve were with you. For a few days, Steve was by your side whenever you asked him to cuddle you during nap time or bedtime. It was a good thing that their work schedule was so flexible that they could work from home sometimes and be there to take care of you. However, Steve soon realized that if they continue to do this then you would never be able to go to sleep by yourself.
Steve decided that they would start by only cuddling with you during bedtime, but for nap time they would leave after tucking you in, and if they were weren't home then you'd have to get yourself ready for nap time. Of course, Bucky didn't agree with this. He found it impossible to just let you cry it out until you fell asleep. Steve eventually convinced him by telling him they need to be sure you can take care of yourself if they ever have to leave you alone for a few days because of work or an emergency.
After a week or so, Steve noticed that whenever they weren't working from home, Bucky would always go home for lunch and then come back after an hour or so. At first, Steve thought that maybe Bucky was just checking up on you. However, he decided to check up on Bucky one day and caught him cuddling you during nap time. You were asleep and didn't need Bucky there but he wanted to stay just in case you woke up. He didn't even notice Steve until he called his name.
He groaned, getting out of bed and walking into the hallway to talk to Steve, "Look I know-"
"Bucky, I already told you she needs this."
"But what if she has a nightmare? Or what if she's hurt? Maybe it's not such a bad idea that one of us is here all the time." He shrugged, looking down at the ground.
"We're not having this discussion again." Steve mumbled, dragging him downstairs to drive him back to work.
Once they returned to work, Steve felt good about their talk on the way there. He made some good points that they need to be sure you can take care of yourself in case they're not around. He also pointed out that this might help you get over the nightmare, and perhaps get over your fear of sleeping by yourself. Bucky nodded along and agreed that those were all good points. Steve was proud of him. He didn't think Bucky would agree to this so quickly.
Steve decided that maybe they would go home early today, so he stopped by Bucky's office to get him, he wasn't there. His stuff wasn't there so maybe he already left but he never leaves without telling him so that was a bit odd. He tried to call Bucky but he didn't pick up. He decided maybe he should go home to check if he's already there.
When he got home, he noticed both you and Bucky watching a movie on the couch. You were lying down on top of him, all snuggled up while he had his arms wrapped around you. Bucky groaned as he noticed Steve standing in the living room next to them.
"Oh for God's sake Bucky, we just talked about this!" Steve exclaimed, as he picked you up.
Bucky quickly sat up and tried to explain himself, "No no it's okay, she couldn't sleep so we're just watching a movie until she feels sleepy again."
"Bucky we talked about this..." Steve carefully put you down on the ground before bending down next to you, "Hey bubba I think I saw Ellie Bunny sitting at the table by herself, why don't you go grab her for naptime, huh?"
You quickly smiled and nodded, running over to the table to grab your beloved plushie.
Steve sat down on the couch next to Bucky, groaning, "Look we can't keep doing this. She needs this."
"I can't help it, if I hear her crying I'm gonna go make sure she's okay." Bucky said, getting up from the couch to turn the TV off.
"I know you only wanna comfort her, and these mama bear instincts are adorable," Bucky opened his mouth to interrupt as soon as he heard the words 'mama bear instincts' but Steve continued "but she needs to be able to sleep by herself. She'll never be able to do that if you just keep coddling her. You think it doesn't break my heart to hear her cry and not go to her?"
"I-"
"This is for her own good, okay?" Steve sighed, getting up from the couch to help you get tucked back in for nap time.
After dinner, Steve decided that since you had Bucky next to you for nap time, maybe they could try to have you sleep on your own during bedtime. Bucky flat out refused as soon as heard the idea but Steve wouldn't budge.
Eventually, you tired yourself out from all the crying and fell asleep. Bucky decided that if he heard you crying at any point during the night then he'll bring you back to bed. Steve told him that that wouldn't be necessary.
In the middle of the night, Bucky reached over to Steve's side but found it empty. He quickly got up and walked over to your room. He quietly chuckled to himself when he noticed Steve next to you, humming softly and brushing his fingers through your hair. Steve groaned lightly as he noticed Bucky,
"What happened to-"
"Not a word. We'll discuss it tomorrow, go back to bed."

The second the elevator door opened to the common floor Peter ran out and jumped on the big couch, reserving a seat for him and you like he does every time for movie night.
Bucky shook his head with a smile and turned his attention to you. Today you felt smaller than usual, which neither your caregivers nor Peter mind. They love you, doesn't matter the headspace.
"You okay, baby?" he asked and you nodded, smiling behind your paci you leaned forward to kiss his cheek.
Bucky walked over to Peter to hand you in his awaiting arms, knowing the boy could get fussy when he doesn't have his cuddle partner. To be fair, Peter is very protective over you and when you're in babyspace he's constantly on alarm, making sure you're happy and safe.
Half an hour later the common area was filled with chatter and laughter, everyone talking about how they have been before it was time to decide on a movie together. While the heroes chat you were going around giving each person a cuddle and a paci kiss, it's nothing new to the others how affectionate you can be.
Right now you were on Steve's back, arms wrapped around his neck and giggling, moving your head forward to give him a paci kiss against his cheek and letting out a surprised squeal when he pretended to drop you. If only you knew that you were the only little having so much fun at this moment. Peter was pouting on the couch with his arms crossed.
He doesn't know why he feels this way but seeing you giving everyone in the room the love and attention that he and your mommy and daddy were usually getting only, has him sulking on the large couch.
Natasha being the attentive assassin she is noticed almost instantly what was going on. She stopped her conversation with Clint and made her way to sit next to Peter nudging his shoulder.
"Wanna tell me what got you all pouty?" she teased, pulling slightly at his bottom lip that was jutted out.
He smiled a little but went back to frowning at his mommy before mumbling. "Just wanna have tiny for me alone..."
"Ah, I see..." She replied, moving some of his curls from his face and leaning closer to whisper to him. "Give it some time and she will be glued to your side."
On the other side of the couch, you were sitting on your knees between Bucky and Steve, occasionally listening to their conversation and looking around until your daddy tapped your thigh to get your attention.
"I think Peter needs some snuggles from his little sister, you think you can help him out?" he asked and you nodded your head proudly, a big smile forming behind your paci.
You instantly crawled your way over to Peter, shocking him first but he smiled the second you leaned forward to give him a paci kiss, and not just one, you kissed him all over his face until you were sure he was his happy self again.
"Lub Petie," you said proving it by giving him one last paci kiss on his lips.
"I lub you too, Tiny." he smiles brightly wrapping his arms around you to pull you in for a long hug.
When you were sure he was satisfied with the attention you gave him you switched from Peter to sitting on Bucky's lap, reaching over to play with your mommy's hair and also giving her and your daddy a paci kiss while the others cooed at the whole interaction.

don't call me daddy II
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x little!f!reader Word count: 3,160 Summary : In a world where littles are openly themselves, they volunteer to help and be helped by willing caregivers. In spite of himself, Bucky finds himself stuck with one and to keep the nagging away, he has to learn how to be around her with everything that that entails. Warnings: Bucky is mean, a couple of insults, mistreatment of age regressed reader, manipulation, crying, mentions of the s-word, mention of the r-word, Bucky's PTSD & nightmares. A/N: I'm sorry I breathe pain but I love you:"💜x(also if you have any suggestions for these two just let me know). please enjoy💜 ~ Before Mrs. Morrison arrived, Bucky had made sure to make her a proper breakfast for the first time since she's been at his house. She couldn't need for anything today. Showered: check Fed: check Properly dressed: check
“And then what?” he asked, closing the peanut butter jar. “Then we pour the warm milk,” she instructed with a soft smile, helping Bucky prepare her meal. “I thought you were supposed to make this with cold milk.” “That’s just what the box says, but we’re not gonna listen,” she whispered as if scared to hurt the cereal box’s feelings. Bucky chuckled despite himself and finally, unintentionally allowed her a glimpse of something other than a frown. “You’re pretty,” she told him with a dreamy smile, already blushing at the fact that she made him smile. “Hey!” Bucky glared again as if he's just been insulted. “Sorry,” she huffed, looking at her breakfast being stirred. “You better be.” Bucky didn’t know why he acted so defensive or why he wanted her to be sorry. It was like there was something inside of him repelling anything nice or sweet that could be thrown his way as if it was a contagious virus. “Eat your breakfast so we can fix that hair of yours. Can’t believe you managed to mess it up again,” Bucky told her, walking away from the kitchen. “Bucky not gonna eat?” She tilted her head in question. “Mind your own business,” Bucky threw rudely, still avoiding her attempts at caring for him. She huffed again as she watched him sit before the TV, pretending to be focused on anything but her presence in his apartment. She had to take matters into her own hands. Ever so slowly, she rounded the kitchen counter and slightly opened the same cabinet Bucky had opened to get her a bowl out of. Thankfully, she found one other bowl. Twisting her hand side-ways, she pulled it out of the small opening she made in the cabinet door in slow motion in order not to alarm Bucky. And while he drowned in his own thoughts, she started preparing him a similar corn flakes bowl so he could have breakfast too. On the other side of the room, Bucky’s mind was attacking him with thoughts. What was he going to do during those three months? He’d already had his face flushed and his heart beat going a million per second when he had to give her a shower yesterday. He couldn’t believe the first time he got to see a naked lady after 70 years, it had to be her. A lady who wasn’t really a lady. He felt dirty. Like he shouldn’t have been doing that. She sounded so young but looked old enough and it messed with his head. How many more times was he supposed to do this again during those three months? “Here, Bucky,” she cut off his thoughts, carefully bringing forth a bowl of corn flakes in warm milk with honey. “Why didn’t you eat?” Bucky rolled his eyes, thinking she probably wanted him to feed her now. It was probably her chance while he was doing everything she wanted so that she wouldn’t rat him out to Mrs. Morrison. “It’s for Bucky,” she explained, setting the bowl before him on the floor. “Who said I wanted to eat that goo?” Bucky glared at her for acting like she knew what he needed. “It’s delicious, I promise. Give it a try.” She held a half full spoon up to him. Bucky was still as a statue, looking at her with a frown. He was too angry to even blink. “I. Don’t. Need. Your. Help.” He seethed through his teeth. “I know. But I wanted to share.” Her shoulders slumped, as she put the spoon back in the bowl. Bucky felt a tiny bit remorseful. No one’s made him food since his mom and internally, he was kind of grateful. But of course, he wouldn’t let it show. “Fine, gimme that,” he snapped, taking the bowl off the floor and shoving a spoon in his mouth. It was actually good, homely and soft enough to chew but not too saggy. Something about the taste of corn and the honeyed milk made Bucky warm inside. As Bucky chewed on his food, she ran back to the kitchen counter, picking up her bowl too and coming back to sit next to Bucky on the floor. “Do you like it?” She asked before slipping her spoon in her mouth. “I don’t hate it.” He shrugged, refusing to give her the pleasure of being right.
If only he knew she never cared about being right. “I’m happy you like it.” She beamed. “I didn’t say that.” “Fine.” She pouted, swirling her spoon around without eating. Bucky felt weird, almost like he felt bad. After all, she’s warned him about the visit and practically saved his butt from Sam and most importantly, his therapist. “Why didn’t you put peanut butter in mine?” Bucky nudged her with a question, refusing to utter a clear apology for his harshness. “Bucky doesn’t like peanut butter on cornflakes,” she whispered, still facing down and moving her spoon around the bowl. “And how did you know that?” Bucky raised his eyebrows because really, how did she know that? Do they give her a file too? “You said “ugh” while adding peanut butter to my cornflakes,” she explained simply. Huh. So she was observant and kind of… smart. “Eat your food,” Bucky said, holding the tip of her spoon to stop her from twirling it. He thought he used a gentler tone but apparently that wasn’t the case because she still looked melancholy. He didn’t have patience for this, for fuck’s sake! Bad word, his mind replied. So she was inside of his head now too?! “Ugh, what’s wrong?” Bucky asked, not sure why he did. Because he didn’t care.
He didn’t. “Why do you hate me?” Her small voice asked, sounding sadder than he’d ever heard her sound before. Her question surprised him and he stopped chewing. Bucky frankly had no idea why or if he hated her. He’d told himself he hated her on her first night here, but that was just because she invaded his space and overwhelmed him by doing everything he wasn’t used to. But now that he had to think about it, did he actually hate her? The answer was no and Bucky knew it. “I don’t hate you,” Bucky murmured, setting his bowl down and picking up hers. “You just confuse me very much.” Bucky held her spoon up to her lips. She looked at him and the spoon with so much hope that Bucky felt absolutely shitty for pretending to be nicer to her for the sake of today’s visit.
On the other hand, she couldn’t believe Bucky was offering her the spoon, feeding her. But Bucky didn’t care. He just needed this to go well, and he wasn’t about to let her ruin it because she wanted to have a long face today. “Confuse Bucky? Why? Doll never lies,” she said, her tone sincere and eyes begging Bucky to believe and trust her. Yeah, Bucky felt terrible. He decided that if he kept answering her with the truth that might take some of the guilt he was feeling away. “It’s not about lies,” Bucky replied, nearing the spoon to her lips more so she could eat. She complied and took the spoon into her mouth, wanting to hear more. “It’s that this is all new to me. This kind of stuff never existed in the 40s.” Bucky shrugged, getting another spoon ready. She ate the cereal obediently, chewing quickly so she can ask a question. “But Bucky doesn’t hate me?” She looked at him like her life depended on his answer. “No, Bucky doesn’t hate you,” Bucky chuckled at how cute she looked talking with food in her mouth, but quickly controlled himself. “Bucky just needs time to get used to everything.” She realized out loud, making Bucky swallow apologetically. Has he just been understood for the first time in years by someone other than Steve? It was the truth. Bucky needed time to get used to this and her. The only lies were that his actions weren’t because he really cared and that he didn’t want to get used to this or her. He tried hard to ignore the feeling the mere action of feeding her gave him, too. Taking care of someone like that? It felt good for some odd, unknown reason. Bucky nodded in reply, continuing to feed her, “yeah, I need time.” “I promise I’ll give you time, Bucky. I won’t annoy you no more.” Her eyes were genuine as humanly possible when she cradled his metal hand as it held her bowl and Bucky felt a pang in his chest. How could anyone be so patient and pure, especially these days? He couldn’t believe she still had it in her to consider how he felt in spite of the way he’s treated her. She must know nothing about him or his past. A knock on the door pulled Bucky out of his head and he swallowed nervously, putting the bowl down and standing up to answer the door. She took her bowl and his and quickly moved to sit on the couch, knowing it would look better that way. She was going to do her best to make everything easier on and for Bucky from now on and for the rest of her time with him. ~ After Mrs. Morrison has greeted them both and privately talked to Bucky in the kitchen, she took Doll to the bedless bedroom, wanting to make sure she really was okay. “Listen, doll, don’t feel like you have to do this. If Bucky is unwelcoming, you can come with me right now,” she reassured the girl, never wanting her to go through an unpleasant experience. “I’m okay, Mrs. Morrison, I promise.” She smiled. “Are you sure? Because I know he’s not the nicest I’ve ever met,” Mrs. Morrison joked, making the younger girl laugh. Of course, she had no idea that with Bucky’s enhanced hearing, he could hear them. He really didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but he couldn’t help it. “I’m sure. Bucky is not evil, he’s just misunderstood,” she told her, her tone sure. Now that had Bucky intentionally eavesdropping. What did she just say about him? “Is he now?” Mrs. Morrison smiled. “Yes, I swear! Even by himself.” She defended. “And how is that?” the woman was genuinely interested in making sure her girl wasn’t being abused.
“Big me read about him in the library before. He’s not a bad man. He’s a hero, Mrs. Morrison, but he doesn’t know it. He doesn’t think he deserves nice things but he does. He deserves all the nice things!” Bucky was wordless at her speech. Was that how she really thought of him? “But is he good to you, doll?” Mrs. Morrison asked. This was supposed to be the question he worried most about being answered, but Bucky was still frozen, trying to recover from the way her previous words hit him. “Yes, he’s good to me. Even got me a new stuffie!” She told the older woman excitedly without even taking a second to think about her answer, completely omitting the fact that she practically begged him to get her that stuffed animal. “Oh, really? I didn’t see it!” Mrs. Morrison was starting to feel good about this, thinking that maybe she’d misjudged Bucky. “I keep it in my bag when I wake up because I don’t wanna lose it. It’s a white wolf, just like Bucky!” “Just like Bucky?” the woman frowned in confusion. “It’s the name Bucky was given in Wakanda,” she explained. Bucky felt warmth spread throughout his chest for the first time in decades. She knew all that? “You’ve really done your homework huh?” Mrs. Morrison teased, getting up from the floor with Doll. “Big me likes history and research… and cute guys,” she giggled with a shy shrug, making Bucky huff half a chuckle. “Alright then, I will leave you with this cute guy and I’ll come back next month, okay? But until then, I want you to promise to take care of yourself, doll.” “I will, Mrs. Morrison,” she promised politely, giving the woman a tight hug, “thank you for coming.” Bucky closed the door behind the older lady, relieved that the visit went well. He let out a breath he was holding and stood with his back to her, unsure about what he should do. “Bucky,” she called out. “What’s wrong now?” Bucky huffed as he turned around. He felt bad when he saw her soft smile reaching her eyes at the sight of him just looking at her, but he couldn’t let it get to him.
He did what he had to do to save his ass.
She said a lot of nice things about him, but that didn’t mean he was going to yield to this unwelcomed, unwanted situation that Sam’s gotten him in. He didn’t need this. He wasn’t the one to start all this. “Do you wanna draw together?” She played with her fingers nervously. “I don’t know how to do that. You draw, okay?” Bucky said, showing no interest as he started putting his shoes on. “Bucky leaving?” Her voice was chocked with held up tears. “Yes.” He grabbed his keys, trying his best not to look at her dejected face. “But—” “You didn’t seriously think I would magically start wanting to spend time with you, did you?” She involuntarily let out a tiny gasp, hurt at the fact that he just manipulated her for the one reason that is Mrs. Morrison’s visit. “You gonna start crying again?” He made fun of her as he pulled his gloves on, not in the mood for the public stares. “Bucky!” she whispered, tears dripping down her cheeks. “Don’t wait up if you wanna fall asleep.” With that, Bucky slammed the door behind him, locking it and leaving her alone. She just fell on the couch, sobbing as her fists grabbed at her own knees.
How stupid was she? He’s already told her he never wanted her. Why would he suddenly want to spend time with her? Just because he fed her a couple of spoons? Stupid. Maybe she should’ve acted exactly the way he’d expected her to from the beginning. Maybe Bucky was right, there was nothing she could do to help. She wasn’t here to fix anything. Her presence was just a thing Bucky had to put up with, nothing more. ~ As Bucky walked down the street, he wanted to bang his forehead on the nearest wall. Why didn’t he just tell her he was going to get them food like he actually was? Why did he have to be mean and rude? He didn’t want to get her hopes up, he knew that. But that certainly wasn’t the best way to let her know. He could’ve talked to her and she would’ve understood. She was smart and far from a ‘retard’ like he’d so unfairly called her before. But no, he couldn’t get too close. He wouldn’t let her involve him in whatever she was doing. Whatever. Bucky didn’t want to think about her or her feelings. Or about the way her eyebrows knot when she’s about to cry... Or the tremble of her lower lip before the very first tear falls out… Damn it, he fucked up. Bad word, she would say… Bucky chuckled, shaking his head in defeat as he walked towards the nearest grocery store he knew of. ~ I'm sorry. I’m. Sorry. I am sorry Bucky quietly practiced before his closed door as if it was the hardest thing he’s ever had to do. He needed to make this right. It really wasn’t her fault that they were making him do those things. She was nothing but sweet to him despite everything he’s done to and with her. When he was ready enough to open the door, however, her eyes weren’t on him like he’d expected and wanted them to be. In fact, they weren’t on anything because she was asleep. Bucky sighed as he dumbly waved the pizza box above her sleeping body. She didn’t have lunch because she was spending time with Mrs. Morrison and now she was asleep without dinner either because of him and his stupidity. “Hey,” Bucky called softly, well, softer than he’s ever talked to her. She didn’t answer, pretending to be fast asleep with her face buried in the corner of Bucky’s couch. He couldn’t see anything but her stuffed ducky looking back at him as if in blame. Oh. She was back to hugging her old stuffed animal. Not the white wolf Bucky’s gotten her. Bucky understood now that he’d messed up big time. She clearly didn’t angelically forgive him without an apology this time. He carelessly threw the unopened pizza on the kitchen counter, taking his jacket off and his place on the floor. He had no appetite now. He turned on the TV on silent and turned the lights off before letting out one long sigh.
She felt so bad because Bucky hasn’t eaten anything all day either, but she was too sad with him to do anything about it. Bucky didn’t want her to care for him, so she was going to finally listen to his wishes. When Bucky woke up from his nightmares that night, she had to continue pretending like it didn’t wake her up too. She squeezed her eyes shut and continued to bury her face in the cushion despite herself. No lullabies were sung and no water or tissues were offered. It was just Bucky lying alone on his floor again, sweaty, traumatized and regretful as one could be. She heard him moving around and apparently he was dressing because a minute later he left the apartment. When she peeked through the blinds, Bucky was jogging down the street. It was 4 am and she knew she couldn’t pretend to be asleep forever, but she’ll continue trying for now. ~ When Bucky came back from his 3-hour run, he had finally calmed down and he had a solid apology ready on the tip of his tongue this time. He was going to make this right and he was going to do it now. “Bucky.” He heard her panicked voice call his name and instantly fell into a protective mode he didn't know existed within his system. “I had an accident.” Bucky followed her tearful eyes down and when he looked at her bloodied PJ pants, Bucky was panicked too. He's seen a lot of blood, shed a lot of blood, but the sight of blood on her clothes freaked him out more than anything he has ever seen before. “What happened?!”

You'd been needy for Bucky's touch all day, whining the second he tried to leave the room. He could tell you were likely going to regress further as the night went on. You were curled up on the couch, with your head against as chest. Your favourite movie playing on the TV but you could hardly pay attention with his hand sitting dangerously high on your thigh, rubbing it as gentle as ever.
His eyes were staring at the screen but you knew the only thing he was paying attention to were the little whimpers coming out of your mouth as his hand travelled up even higher. You couldn't help but moan his name as his hand went up.
He moved his hand away for a second and looked down at you with a smug smile, "Everything okay, baby?"
You nodded quickly as your cheeks turned pink from feeling embarrassed. Bucky nodded at your response and turned his attention back over to the movie, seizing his hand from your thigh completely. It was humiliating how needy you felt in that moment.
You tried to nuzzle against his chest to try and get his attention but it was like he didn't even know you were there. He just ignored you and focused on the movie you'd forgotten about. You let out a whine and turned to face him, to try to get his attention. He just gave you an unamused look in return before facing the screen again.
"Daddy," You whined,
"Baby," He mocked in response.
You just whined again in response, before moving closer to him and sliding your leg over his lip, and settling yourself down on his thigh. He didn't say anything, wanting to see what you'd do next. He just continued to watch you slowly start to move up and down on his thigh, trying to get some relief.
He couldn't help but chuckle at your soft whimpers, "Is someone feeling a bit needy tonight? Yeah? You wanna be my dumb little baby tonight?"
You nodded slowly, taking a hold of his hand and placing it on your waist, hoping he'll help you move. You frowned when he moved his hand away, shaking his head at you, "Sorry sweetheart, I wanna keep watching the movie. I can't help you."
You were feeling so needy. So small. You almost started crying at his words and he instantly shushed you, "Sorry, doll, you can't always have it your way. You don't have to stop though. Keep moving doll, try going a bit faster."
As soon as the words left his mouth, you started to move faster on his thigh, moaning and whimpering loudly.
"That's a good girl, keep going. Don't stop, doll, use me to get yourself off." His filthy words and praises were starting to get to you. You were so fucking close.
"Alright, baby, it's time for bed." He picked you up off his lap and grabbed the remote to turn the TV off.
"Bu-but daddy I-"
"Sorry baby, I told you to move faster, didn't I, little one? There's no negotiations when it comes to bedtime, you know that, my dumb baby." He tried his best not to chuckle at the look on your face.
You wanted to cry. You wanted to scream. You wanted to yell at him. But all you could do was whine and hide your face in his neck. He couldn't help but laugh at his needy girl, gently rubbing your back and walking upstairs with you.
"Be my good girl tonight, and we can finish what we started tomorrow morning."

Bucky helped you put on your lanyard and nametag at the convention center’s entrance. He knew you could do it yourself, but he was stalling and needed something to occupy his shaky hands. He straightened out your shirt, another nervous habit of his.
“Are you excited, bubba?”
“Yes! So excited, Daddy.”
“Good, good. Daddy’s excited too.”
He kept fiddling with your clothes and tried not to think about how nervous he was for today. You’d met his baker buddies before, but never all at once, in one day. And never in such a crowded place.
He wasn’t worried because of you; he was worried about all the things beyond his control. What if the convention was too overwhelming? What if you two got separated? What if a stranger was mean to you? Breathe, Bucky. Breathe.
“Daddy?”
“Y-yeah?”
“I can have all the sweets I want today, right?”
Bucky laughed, taken aback by your question.
“Our minds are in two different places, honeybun.” He stopped messing with your clothes and kissed your forehead. “Yes, you can have all the sweets you want if you remember your manners–and if you give me a big hug right now.”
You squealed and wrapped your arms around Bucky, squeezing him with all your might. “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
Bucky was starting to feel a bit better. As usual, you were able to calm his nerves and remind him that he had nothing to worry about. He was a good caregiver. If you got overwhelmed, he would know the signs and how to help you. If you got lost, he had plenty of friends and colleagues who knew you, loved you, and would do anything to help. If a stranger tried ruining your day, he was more concerned with what you could do to them than what they could do to you.
While you were hugging Bucky as hard as you could, you were also helping slow down his heart rate and the other physical signs of his stress. He was finally prepared to go in.
“Are you ready, baby?”
“Yes! Yes! I’m so ready!”
You swung your interlocked hands back and forth as you and Bucky walked through the doors and down the long hallway that led to the convention center.
The sight of the many vendors and their stalls selling baked goods stopped you in your tracks. There were more than you could count. It seemed as if there were endless rows of cookies, cupcakes, pies, and happy people enjoying the art of baking.
Bucky noticed a friend giving you a slight wave to get your attention. He gently tugged your hand.
“Do you wanna go over there, honey? That booth looks good.”
You looked at the booth and gasped, then walked as fast as you could to get there, tugging Bucky along behind you. You were by no means as gentle with Bucky as he had been with you earlier. He laughed good-naturedly as you practically pulled his arm out of its socket.
“Natty!”
“Hey there, firecracker.”
Bucky greeted her with a nod. “Natalia.”
“Buchanan.” She turned to face you again. “I saw you pulling your Daddy back there. I could teach you this trick if you re-”
Bucky covered your ears with his hands and gave his friend a bewildered look. “You’re not teaching them that,” he whisper shouted.
Natasha stifled a laugh while Bucky took his hands away from your ears and tried to redirect your attention. “Which of these treats do you wanna try first, bun?”
“Can I have one of the cakes, please?”
“Comin’ right up.” She handed you a small plate with a square piece of cake and two forks. Bucky motioned for you to take the first bite. Your eyes widened in delight. The cake was so delicate and soaked in a sweet milk. The cake itself was sightly sour, but the sweet milk and ganache topping balanced the whole dessert.
“What is this?”
“It’s bird’s milk cake. Do you like it?”
“Mhm!” You went in for another bite.
“I have something else for you to try too.” Natasha reached beside her and handed you and Bucky another plate with two small, potato-like objects. “This is called kartosha.”
You tried pronouncing this new word before taking a bite. Once again, you were struck by how beautifully simple and balanced the dessert was. Bittersweet cookie crumbles were combined with sweet, sticky condensed milk.
“It’s so good!”
“I’m glad you think so.” Natasha looked like she was going to say more, but then a special someone caught her eye. She leaned over to whisper in your ear. “I think someone’s been stealing looks and wondering when you’re going to visit their booth.”
You whipped your head around and saw Sam look quickly in the other direction, as if he was pretending that he hadn’t been looking at you earlier. He had a mischievous smile on his face though, and his eyes wandered to you for a second before darting back. He rocked back and forth on his heels and even began to whistle a little. You giggled at his attempts to look casual.
You turned to Bucky. “Daddy, can we go to Sammy’s booth?”
“Sure can, let’s say bye to Nat first.”
“Bye, Natty! Thank you for the cake and kartosha!”
“You’re welcome.” She walked around the booth to give you a goodbye hug. “You have to come visit the cafe soon, okay? The kitties miss you and I need some help from my little decorator.”
“I will!” You waved goodbye and then skipped to Sam’s booth.
He was still putting on his oblivious act.
“Sammy, hi!”
“Oh, hey! I didn’t even see you there!”
You laughed and shook your head. “Nuh uh, I saw you looking!”
“Alright, alright, ya caught me. But once you see the show I’ve got planned for you, you’ll understand.”
“A show?” you asked, bouncing excitedly.
“Yup. A whole show. Tell me something, do you like caramel?” He took a step to where his burner stove was.
“Yeah!”
“Okay well this isn’t exactly caramel, but if you like caramel, you’ll like this.” He put a small pan on the stove and turned on the heat. “We’ll start off with a little butter, some cinnamon, and brown sugar.” Sam effortlessly dropped and sprinkled the ingredients into the pan as he listed them off. He gave the mixture a stir, shaking the pan at the same time like a pro.
“Now I don’t know if you like bananas. But if you don’t, you’ll like them after this.” He put a small handful of slices into the pan and coated them in the sauce. He turned off the stove.
“Alright, here’s the real show. I need y’all to take one step back so you’re behind that red tape on the floor.”
You and Bucky did as he said.
“Perfect, thank you. Now these bananas just need a little more juice.” He poured a small amount of clear amber liquid into the pan. “And they could also use a little more heat.” He flicked a lighter just to the side of the pan, setting all of the amber liquid aflame. He shook the pan back and forth, flipping the bananas in the flaming sauce. You watched the fire, absolutely mesmerized by how it shifted and how Sam had so much control over the volatile force. He kept the whole thing moving, like it was a choreographed dance between him and the flaming pan where he was the leader. Slowly, the flames died down and the bananas were left in a glistening sauce.
“THAT WAS THE COOLEST THING EVER!” you screamed, clapping your hands and jumping up and down. “How did you do that?!”
“A lot of practice, okay? Don’t ever try this at home.”
You nodded. “I’ll just watch you do it every day.”
Sam laughed. “If you boost my ego like this every time, I’ll do this whenever you want. You ready to try the bananas now?”
“Yes please!”
“Alright, and one more very important question.” He halted and looked at you seriously. “Do you want ice cream?”
𓏲 ࣪₊♡
Sam gave you and Bucky two beautiful bowls of bananas foster, he called it. He grinned from ear to ear as you asked him endless questions. You wanted to talk more(and ask for another serving), but a crowd full of people wanting to see Sam’s show had formed. You thanked him profusely and waved goodbye nearly your entire walk to the next booth, until you had to turn the corner and could no longer see your friend. Luckily, Bucky was holding your other hand and leading the way to make sure you didn’t bump into anyone or get lost.
You were about to mourn the end of the best time of your life, when you saw another friend waving to you excitedly.
“Stevie!”
You skipped to his booth and he met you in the middle, picking you up for a bone-crushing hug.
“I missed you, bug!”
“Easy, Rogers. Bubba’s full of sweets and ice cream.”
Steve set you down gently and fixed your clothes that he had messed up. “Sorry, bubba, sorry. Wait–you had ice cream already?”
“Uh huh! We went to Sam’s booth!”
“Aw, you went to Sam’s booth before mine? That’s not fair!” he whined. He put a hand over his chest. “You’re breakin’ my heart, bubba.”
“And he gave me a fire show.”
“And he gave you a fire show?” Steve pretended to cry, putting his head in his hands and allowing sobs to run through his body.
“Stevieee, c’mon!” You wrapped your arms around him and patted his back. “Do you know what Sammy didn’t give to me?”
“What?” Steve asked, still pouting.
“Two hugs!”
Steve stopped his crocodile tears and returned your embrace, swinging you side to side to hear your giggles.
“I guess the hugs make up for me not having any fire. And I’m the best hugger you know, right?”
“I-”
“Let’s go see the sweets I have for you!” he said, cutting you off. He carried you on his hip for the short walk to his booth and set you down at the front of it, because only vendors were allowed in the behind area.
Steve stepped behind the display and fixed his apron. Before he spoke, he puffed out his chest and held out his hands in a theatrical manner.
“Welcome to a slice of paradise! We have every pie you can think of! Apple, pumpkin, pecan, key lime, cherry, strawberry–every American classic! And for the non-pie lovers, I have cheesecakes, tarts, and the best rice krispie treats made with my Ma’s secret recipe.” He ended his speech with a wink.
“Wow! There’s so many! I don’t know which one to choose.” You looked at Bucky for assistance.
“Lucky for you, my little bug, I have a sampler platter!” Steve presented you with a plate of many small squares of everything he was selling, all with different colored toothpicks. “You can try these out and when you decide the one you want, let me know and I’ll serve you a whole slice.”
You giddily took the sampler plate and tried all the samples with Bucky, giving Steve feedback after each bite. When you finished trying all of the sweets, you couldn’t pick just one to have a full slice of.
“Stevie?”
“Yeah?”
“Can I have another sample plate, please?”
“Sure, but don’t you want a whole slice of your favorite one?”
“I can’t choose a favorite! They’re all so good.”
Steve smiled proudly. “Alright, one more sampler platter for the charmer with the grouchy daddy.”
Bucky grunted while you giggled. “I have one more question.”
Steve nodded while he arranged your next plate. “What’s up?”
“Can I have a scoop of ice cream too? I need to try all of them with it, for science.”

"Mmmm," you couldn't help but say as you lingered on the last delicious bite of spaghetti. It was so rare that Steve and Bucky had a night away AND could take you out to dinner, that you'd almost forgotten what any other spaghetti other than Steve's tasted like. "It's so good."
"Good girl, you cleaned your plate. I'm proud of you," Steve said, the corner of his lip curling up in that smile that was almost a sneer, but you'd come to understand it meant he was pleased. You giggled and ducked your head, not wanting to admit that his praise in public made you feel all giddy.
"I think we should get the tiramisu to go. It's getting near your bedtime, little one," Bucky said, looking at his expensive diamond-encrusted watch. He chuckled when you pouted. "Now, now. None of that or we don't do this again." You instantly wiped the pout off your face. You couldn't remember the last time you'd actually gotten to leave the mansion for a date night with your daddies, and you weren't about to jeopardize that. Seeing the pout gone, Bucky purred. "That's better. Now let's go."
A waitress handed Steve a to-go bag with a large piece of the dessert in it as you all were heading out the door. You were surprised when you realized that neither Steve nor Bucky had paid, and couldn't help but look behind you as you all were exiting. "What's the matter, Princess?" Steve asked, taking a firm hold of your hand. "What's wrong?"
"Don't...don't we have to give monies to the people for making us food?" you whispered, a little afraid that this was going to be one of those questions that got your daddies mad when you asked it. But this was the exact opposite. Steve squeezed your hand a bit, and Bucky quickly took you other hand and kissed it as you all walked down the street to where Sam had parked the car a few blocks away.
"Look at our sweet little girl, Buck, making sure all her people are taken care of," Steve said, grinning at Bucky and then down at you. "Seems like she picked up a thing or two from the business."
"It's okay, Sweet Cheeks, Daddy and I know the people that run this place. They make us food for free, whenever we want," Bucky said, smiling down indulgently at you.
"Oh. That's nice of them!"
"Did you like going to that place?"
"It was...nice. The food was way yummy. There was lots of people there."
"Was that too many people, honey?"
"Um...it's okay. Just not used to anybody but Daddies."
"Well, how about we all go back home and it can be just Daddies again?"
"Yeah!" you cheered, relieved. It was weird being around people again- you weren't sure that you liked it. You hadn't been around that many people since your Daddies saved you from your boring life to make you their Princess. It had taken a long time, but now you couldn't live without them.
The three of you turned into an alley. Normally, it would have terrified you to walk down a place like this, but with both of your daddies holding your hands, you knew you had nothing to fear.
Suddenly, you heard a deep voice behind you. "Stay right where you are. Don't move."
Ignoring the voice's orders, both Bucky and Steve whipped around instantly. Steve forcefully shoved you behind him. Afraid, you buried your face in the back of his jacket and tried not to make a sound. As you did when you were home and their work people came over, you stayed silent, like a good girl does.
"Give me your wallets and no one gets hurt," the voice said, low and gruff. Bucky let out a bark of a laugh as Steve stepped forward.
"Oh, son. You have no idea what you've just done, do you?" Steve said lightly, but you could hear the undercurrent of violence in his tone. You felt Steve's arms shove aside his jacket lapels, but the next thing you knew, Bucky had you up against the brick wall of the alleyway. Everything got really loud really fast. You turned your head in terror to make sure Steve was okay, but Bucky forcefully grabbed your chin in his hand and made you look at him.
"Eyes on me, Princess," he commanded, and you obeyed instantly. "Good girl. You remember our codes?"
"Y-yes, Daddy."
"Good girl. Rabbit hole. Quick like a bunny. Go." He let your chin go and stepped towards Steve, leaving you alone with your orders.
After Steve and Bucky had rescued you and you'd grown accustomed to this new life, they had drilled code words into you in case of situations like this. "Rabbit Hole" and "Quick like a bunny" were codes for find a place to hide as fast as you can, and don't move until they come to get you.
You looked for a safe hiding space, just like Steve had taught you to, and found a slight notch in the brickwork of the alley- just large enough to hold a dumpster. You ran into it as fast as you could, squeezing yourself in between the dumpster and the wall. You huddled down, hands over your ears and eyes squeezed shut, pretending you were a rabbit in a hole, just like they taught you. Your hands over your ears mostly muffled the shouts, the grunts, and the loud bang. Then everything was silent.
After a couple minutes, you felt three taps on your arm. You opened your eyes to see Bucky kneeling in front of you, smiling. You peeled your hands from your ears just in time to hear him say "Good girl."
You flung yourself into his arms, sobbing and scared. He picked you up, balancing you on his hip, as you cried into his shoulder. He gently kissed the top of your head before pulling his phone out and making a call. Less than a minute later, Sam came barreling into the alley. Without a word, Bucky passed you to him and walked towards Steve.
You started crying even more hysterically. "No, Daddy, please don't go!" you wailed, trying to stretch out of Sam's arms to get to them.
"Hey," Steve's voice cut in sternly. You instantly stopped squirming, knowing better than to push Steve when he was angry. Seeing that you were behaving the way he wanted you to, Steve turned his attention back to what was left of the would be attacker. Sam pressed your face into his shoulder so you wouldn't look, and you stayed right there, unable to control your trembling.
A couple phone calls later and the situation was resolved. Your cries had quieted to occasional hiccups, but you were trying your hardest to be quiet and good, just like they wanted you to be. When you felt Steve's strong hands lift you out of Sam's arms though, you turned with lightning speed and latched onto him.
"Shhh, shhh, it's okay, Princess, Daddy is here now," he said in a much softer and more soothing voice that before. You sniffled a little.
"Daddy?" you whispered, looking up at him. He smiled softly at you.
"Hey there, Princess," he said, rubbing his nose against yours. You sighed in relief, and returned the butterfly kiss, before turning your head to look for Bucky. You didn't have to look far- Bucky was right behind Steve, smiling from ear to ear at you.
"Princess, tell Daddy what you just did," Bucky said proudly, lightly punching Steve in the back to get him to listen up.
"Runned to be a rabbit in a hole, like Daddy said to," you explained carefully, wanting to make sure you didn't mess it up. Steve's smug smile grew.
"Yeah? You were in a rabbit hole like Daddy told you to be?" Steve said proudly. "Well, how about that. You must have been a very brave little girl to be such a good bunny when the mean man came." At the mention of the attacker, you began to shake again.
"Shh, it's okay Sweet Cheeks, we're here and the bad man is gone. He didn't hurt us and he can't hurt you," Bucky crooned softly, stroking your cheek with his finger. But you couldn't stop shaking.
"Boss, you want me to call the doctor to come check her out?" Sam asked gruffly, seeing you beginning to tremble again.
"No! No doctor!" you whimpered before burying yourself in Steve's shoulder. You heard a smack and turned your head to see Sam holding the back of his head and looking annoyed, while Bucky stood next to him, fuming.
"Idiot, you know she hates doctors," Bucky hissed at their second in command.
"Sorry, sorry," Sam apologized, before looking at you. "Sorry, Princess."
"Is okay, Sammy. Thank you for...for helping me." You didn't really want to thank Sam for holding you back while your daddies were taking care of their business, but Steve and Bucky were very strict about manners and you knew they would want you to thank Sam. You were rewarded with kisses from the both of them, on either side of your head.
"Good manners, Princess," Steve whispered. "Come on. Let's go home. And see? Daddy didn't even let the bad man get our dessert. Let's go watch a movie and eat it before bed, okay?"
"Okay, Daddy."
"Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to go out to dinner, hm?"
"I'll do anything you want, as long as I can stay with you and Daddy forever."
"Good girl. That's what we want to hear."
