Loki's Silent Sentry (Part 5)
Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4
Pairing: Loki x female reader (y/n)
Summary: You are not just a soldier in Asgard's Royal Army, you are Lieutenant Y/L/N, Prince Loki's personal guard, his sentry and you are not supposed to fall in love with him. If you followed your training properly, you should never have even spoken to him. As a sentry, you are expected to remain silent and invisible as you shadow your appointed member of the royal family or member of the court protectively throughout their daily tasks.
Rumors (that happen to be true) begin to circulate through the palace that you serve the younger prince of Asgard both outside and inside his chambers. There is little you can do once word of your off duty activities spread through every maid, cook, gardener and seamstress in the palace. You soon find even the soldiers in your own company are now questioning how exactly you had come to earn your seemingly quick rise to lieutenant.
As the annual Winter Solstice Ball approaches, you come to the heartbreaking realization that your relationship with Loki must come to an end if you are both to fulfill your duties.
Warnings: Angst, arguing, Thor trying to be a better brother, Odin being a terrible father... I lied about the fluff... it's not in this part lol but it's coming I swear 💚
Tumblr media
The throne room erupts at Thor's revelation, some council members shout questions at Odin and Thor while others speak to the people nearest them to find out what they know. You can barely hear yourself think as Odin demands quiet but is ignored. He is quickly losing control of the council but that is the least of your worries at the moment.
The raised voices fade into the background as you look to Loki, your heart breaks at how lost he appears. His hand slips from yours and he slowly takes a step backwards, then another as he distances himself from his father, his head shaking lightly.
"Council!" the queen calls to get their attention but they are too concerned with their own conversations to hear her.
She waves her hands towards the doors at the back of the room and a golden glow slams then open. The throne room becomes eerily silent in an instant and the guards who had been standing watch outside rush in.
She walks down the steps from the throne having regained her composure, "I'm afraid I must insist the council leaves the throne room at once. I find I need to speak with my husband," her eyes fall to Odin, "and my sons." She adds as she looks at Thor with a heavy mixture of disappointment and anger.
The members of the council begin to file out of the throne room, their conversations continuing in earnest even as they exit.
You ignore everyone moving and talking around you, you can only think about Loki. You put one arm around his waist, your hand on his back, while your other hand gently touches his cheek. You tilt his head so he is looking towards you but his eyes are unfocused as if he is lost in thought.
"Loki," you say quietly but he doesn't seem to hear you. His arms hang loosely at his sides instead of responding to your touch.
"Loki," you say again, a bit louder but not enough to startle him. You need him to come back to you.
"They've used me," he says but not directly to you, more as if he is thinking out loud. "My father and my brother..." he pauses, his eyes finally focusing on you. "I can't lose you," he tells you in a low voice. "I won't."
You move your hand up his cheek to wipe a single tear away, "It's going to be ok." You barely believe your own words but you can't bear to tell him anything else. You fight back a wave of nausea as the knowledge that Loki will be forced to marry another woman truly begins to sinks in.
Pulling away slightly you look towards the queen, worried she will make you leave when Loki needs you the most. She can clearly see the concern in your eyes and without needing to ask she says, "You may stay."
You don't miss the disapproving look from Odin but your fear of him continues to lessen as your hatred for him rises. You nod in thanks Frigga and take Loki's hand to pull him closer to his mother as the guards close the doors.
For the second time, you are left alone with the royal family while they argue over the validity and fate of your relationship with Loki.
Tumblr media
Thor stands between his mother and father, you and Loki face them, your hand still holding his. Loki looks from his father to you and you lean towards him to whisper, "I love you." At your words his eyes suddenly shift from dull and distant to alight with fury.
He pulls his hand free from yours and clenches his fists tightly as his focus finds his father. "When were you planning on telling me you had used me as a pawn in one of your political games? On my wedding night?" Loki asks Odin as he takes a step towards the king.
"When the time was right," he answers as if Loki's frustration means nothing to him and you fear it might not.
"The right time would have been when you and my oaf of a brother were conspiring to make this preposterous deal," Loki snaps as he looks from his father to his older brother. "It certainly is not after."
"There was no need for you to be involved in our discussion," the king states and you can feel your anger building, matching Loki's. "We arranged your marriage, not as your father and brother, but as the reigning king and heir to the throne," Odin adds.
You scoff, "You say that as if it makes this betrayal any less painful."
The king glares at you. "Why are you still here soldier? You are no longer relevant to this conversation," he says dismissively.
"Do not treat her as if she means nothing," Loki defends you. He takes your hand protectively and you hold his arm with your other hand. "She is one of the few people on Asgard who actually cares about me and my happiness."
"And that is the issue," the king counters. "You are far too concerned with being happy," he says almost as if he doesn't understand the concept.
"Your duty is to the throne, to protect and serve the realm, not to do as you wish. You have responsibilities as a prince, even if you are not the heir and you cannot throw them away for this," he waves his hand towards you much like he did when addressing you after the ball.
"This is why you despise Y/N so much," Loki says slowly as he comes to this sudden realization. "It is not because she is a soldier or because she isn't from some wealthy family," he says.
He looks at you as he continues, a faint smile on his lips, "It is because she makes me happy and that means you can't control me as you once could. My love for her is what brought about all of my questions regarding marriage law in the first place."
He looks back at Odin, "Without her, I would have simply obeyed your command to marry the woman you chose because I would have had no cause to think there was another choice."
"You will marry the woman I have selected because you do not have a choice," the king threatens.
"That might not necessarily be true," Thor says but before he can explain, Odin's look silences him.
You feel the smallest ray of hope and cling to Loki as he puts his arm around your waist.
"What do you mean?" you ask Thor, "Is there-"
"You will be quiet," Odin practically growls at you but you stand your ground.
You are done being scared of him. He may be the king and you owe him your allegiance but you don't deserve to be spoken to this way. You open your mouth to tell him so but the queen speaks first.
"You will not speak to her as if she is some common prisoner you can terrorize into obeying your orders," the queen demands. "She is as much a part of this conversation as anyone else in this room."
You close your mouth slowly and blink in shock as the queen defends you. Odin goes still but you can see he is seething. She smiles at you almost in spite of her husband and says, "What was your question?"
You swallow and look at Loki who nods encouragingly for you to continue. "I don't understand what Prince Thor meant when he said that might not be true? Is there something we can do to stop Loki from being forced into this marriage?" you ask, desperate for even the possibility of good news.
"The arrangement clearly hasn't been sealed by the council," the queen says and Loki smiles in response, pulling you close.
"I don't know what that means," you admit but you can tell by Loki's expression that it is the answer you were hoping for. You know know military procedures and protocol like the back of your hand but royal marriage law was not something you were familiar with.
"There is a reason these types of contracts are no longer made in secret," the queen begins to explain. "In the old days, the sons and daughters of the king and high court were treated as any other good to be traded. Their fates were in the hands of a few old men who stared at maps to redivide land while drinking their fill of wine."
You can't help but wonder if the queen herself was given to Odin in such a way, it was hard to envision them ever having been a love match.
She continues, "In order to ensure these marriages were truly for the good of the realm as a whole and not just for the personal gain of the members involved, all arrangements must be made public and approved by the council, thus sealing them."
"But since the council obviously didn't know about this arrangement..." you say slowly.
"The marriage pack is not yet finalized," Loki finishes, his eyes full of the hope you feel.
Tumblr media
"I assume, based on the council's reaction, they will not be approving the arrangement," the queen says.
Thor look to his father to gauge his reaction then says, "They most likely will not. There was a reason we kept our discussion between ourselves and the woman's father."
"There are no other council members who are aware of this, or who the woman is?" Frigga asks.
Thor shakes his head as Odin folds his arms across his chest. The king looks as if he is moments from defeat and there is nothing else to be said.
"If that is the case, I deem the arrangement void," Loki's mother says and your heart skips a beat with excitement.
Loki pulls you into a tight hug at the news and you close your eyes as you press yourself against him. He runs his hand up and down your back and kisses the top of your head. You look up and smile but realize you cannot celebrate yet. He looks back at his parents but doesn't let go of you.
"I am glad this is settled but there is still the matter of the current marriage law," Loki reminds everyone, not that you could forget.
Tumblr media
"Loki," you say, your voice suddenly shaking. He looks down at you concerned and you tell him, "The king is still going to change the law so I can never be with you."
He shakes his head but you can't see a way around it. "That's what he was going to do before... before we found out about the arrangement," you remind him.
"There are two ways a law such as this can be changed," Loki explains to you. "The king has the authority to create laws but not on a whim or out of anger as he tried earlier. If the council doubts the validity of the ruling, they can challenge it."
You look away from Loki for a moment to see his father's reaction but he remains silent with his arms crossed. "What is the second way?" you ask, hoping it is better then the first choice.
"We call the council back and hold a vote," he says. "The king will be required to either accept or reject their decision," he says then he looks at his father, "But the last king who repeatedly overruled the council had a shortened reign, if i remember correctly."
"What will it be, father?" Thor asks and you hold your breath as Loki's arms keep you close.
He is quiet for a moment, obviously weighing his options. Change the law himself and risk the council challenging him or allow them to vote and hope they make the decision he prefers.
He sighs deeply, "Call the council to reassemble."
Tumblr media
The throne room fills with council members again as the king, queen and heir take their places atop the stairs of the throne. You and Loki stand together, his arm around your waist. The king holds up his hand for silence and the voices gradually fade.
"We have discussed the matter of Prince Loki's marriage arrangement," he states and the whispers begin again. "Silence," he calls and they comply so he can continue. "The agreement has been revoked, Prince Loki is no longer bound to it."
A few light cheers are heard from council members who were against it. You assume there is one angry person in the council, the father of the woman chosen by Odin. You don't care though, you are trying to remain cautiously optimistic about the last obstacle that remains ahead of you.
"And what of the change in marriage law for the second child in the royal family?" someone asks.
Thor steps forward, "We will hold a vote." You hold back a smile as Thor explains how the members are to cast their vote. Aye for upholding the existing law which would allow Loki to choose a wife based on the same criteria as any other council member and nay to revise the law to be identical to that of the heir.
While the members briefly discuss their opinions Loki leans down and whispers, "I love you. No matter the outcome, I promise I will be with you."
"I love you so much, Loki," you tell him. You hope he will be able to keep his promise but you are terrified that the vote may not be in your favor.
Odin clears his throat and the room goes silent again. "We will begin-" he starts but Loki interrupts him.
"If I may, father," he says calmly and Odin nods for him to continue. "I will not beg the council to vote the way I want them to but I do have one thing I need heard."
He looks at you and smiles then looks around the room. "If the council does not vote to uphold the current law and requires me to follow the same rules as the heir..." he pauses and your heart beats faster, "I will give up my title and status as a prince of Asgard."

After an agonising thirty hours in labour, you finally brought your child into the world. You were sweaty, shaking and crying but when you heard the shrill cry come from your baby you laughed in relief and rested your head in your husband’s shoulder. Loki watched as the midwife wrapped the babe in a blanket and smiled at you and Loki.
“It’s a girl,” the midwife whispered with a warm smile, the smile becoming wider when he saw the utter delight on Loki’s face and your own face. “Although, it was peculiar…” she trailed off as she looked down at your daughter.”
Instantly, Loki began to run through all the different possibilities of what could have been wrong. “What… what is wrong? What was… peculiar?” you whispered weakly, voicing what Loki was panicking about, “is something wrong with her?”
“Well…” the midwife began before pulling her lip between her teeth and then looking between you and Loki, “she came out a boy. She just changed before my eyes. It’s… peculiar.”
Loki’s shoulder relaxed at the revelation and he chuckled nervously, guiding the midwife’s attention to him, “that would be because of me. I am genderfluid and my shapeshifting abilities must have been passed on to her. That is nothing to worry about.”
The midwife seemed to accept that and walked towards you, guiding you on how to hold your daughter properly before laying the bundle into your arms and stepping back. Your eyes welled up with tears of relief when you gazed down at the infant in your arms, her face all scrunched up and crying to the gods above.
“She’s perfect,” you whispered to Loki as he leaned over your shoulder to get a look at his little girl. You brushed some excess blood from the girl’s face and watched as she subtly settled, gazing up at you curiously and seeming to accept your touch before her eyes closed and she opened her mouth to release another cry.
Loki sat by your bedside as you breastfed your child and rocked her. “You need to rest, pet,” Loki whispered to you when he noticed your eyes starting to droop and your breathing start to become deeper as you rested your head against the pillow, “I shall look after our girl for a while.”
“But…” you protested, looking between Loki and your daughter before admitting to yourself that you really needed to rest after the pain of the last thirty-something hours. “Alright,” you whispered, gently handing your daughter over to your husband and giggling when he looked at you, half terrified, “it’s alright,” you assured him with a grin, “you won’t break her.”
Reassured by your smile, Loki leaned down and pressed a kiss to your forehead and whispered sweet nothings until he was sure that you were asleep and then he was alone with his baby for the first time. Sure, Loki was already a father but he hadn’t felt like this at the birth of his sons or his first daughter. Back then, their births had been tainted with the fear of Odin discovering his children and throwing them away in fear of Ragnarok. Now, gazing down at his sweet daughter with Odin dead and Thor as the Aesir King, he was allowed to breathe.
The God stood from the bed and smiled as he walked around the room with his daughter in his arms. There was something about her, this wonderful child who had already shown a mastery of his shapeshifting abilities and she was only seconds old, this little girl who had captured his heart since the moment he saw your belly start to bulge with his child, this little soul who had been given to him and you as a way to move on. Your safe haven.
“Haven,” Loki whispered into the silence of the room, watching Haven squirm in his arms as she tried to get comfy against him. That’s what she shall be called, a homage to what she is to you and Loki. Your safe haven, your blessing, your way of moving on. “Haven Lokidottir,” he whispered again, the name sounding so perfectly right on his tongue that he knew it was destined to be her name, “your mother will love it.”
Loki sat in the chair next to your bed for an hour after that and at every little shift of his daughter, he was brought back to attention and there if his daughter needed him. When he saw her nose start to scrunch and her mouth start to open, he was prepared for her cries and gently stroked down her nose with his pinkie finger, soothing her as he gently shushed her.
“Don’t wake mummy, min lille trygge havn (my little safe haven),” the new father whispered, watching as his daughter opened her eyes and blinked up at him tiredly.
Green. Her eyes were green! She had his eyes! Utter joy filled Loki’s chest as he gazed down at the beautiful shade that Haven had for eyes and he felt himself teetering on the edge of crying again at the sight of her eyes. Haven seemed to sense his joy as her crying subsided and she wriggled in his arms, enjoying the attention from the man holding her.
“I’m dada, little one,” Loki whispered, standing from the chair and swaying with her in his arms. “I swear to you, little Haven, I won’t let anything happen to you,” the God whispered to his child, knowing that she wouldn’t understand his words yet but he knew that he would always show her that she was loved and protected, “mummy and daddy will always protect you.”
Haven gazed up at him and her lips spread into a goofy smile and she did her best to giggle, kicking her legs in delight. Loki watched with amusement and felt his heart squeeze at how wonderful today was, how lucky he was to have you and to have Haven, how lucky he was to have this second chance at a family.
From your place on the hospital bed, you watched as Loki bonded with his child and felt so blessed that you were the one to give Loki this opportunity.

Does anyone else get the same vibe from the Loki finale and Spn 15x18?
Because both of them got me sitting in front of my laptop being like: "That´s it? You´re just gonna let him be.. gone like this?"
Like, take a fan favourite character, and then give him a good written but soul crushing ending, that lets the viewer feel devasted once they realize that their fav is just not there anymore. Or atleast in Lokis case, wont ever be like he was before.
I understand that writers can´t do what fans tell them to do all the time, but would a good written but happy ending be such a bad choice of writing?
Loki had the power and potential of the entire MCU resting on his shoulders and now.. He´s just gonna be sitting there, alone, for all time and always.
I thought that the entire point of Lokis character development was that he´s BETTER than his "glorious purpose" and that he deserves a happy ending because he can be whatever he wants to be, even a good person, which is literally SAID TO HIM BY MOBIUS in season 1.

The day that Haven was born was the brightest day of your life, you and Loki saw the girl immediately and decided that she was going to always be your everything.
However, as the years bled on - after Odin’s unannounced Odinsleep leaving Loki the throne when Haven was three years old and staying asleep for eighteen months - and Haven grew, Loki began to watch as she grew apart from you and Loki.
Haven was fifteen now and you couldn’t doubt that she looked exactly as her father did minus some features that you could see were yours. Her ebony black hair flowed past her shoulders, her emerald green eyes shone with power the exact same way that Loki’s did, she was kind and gentle but her teenage years had formed the distance between her and her parents that you feared was going to be impossible to save. She still loved the two of you, of course, but she had friends of her own, a whole life away from you and Loki that you couldn’t keep her away from.
What was hard though was watching her experience secondary school. Haven had begged to go to school like children her age and her education began in primary school, raised alongside normal midgardians her age. What Haven didn’t account for, was the shift from primary to secondary.
You first saw the change when your daughter was in Year Eight. She began to hide her magic more and shy away from telling stories of Asgard to her friends and speaking about it at home. You had thought that she just wanted to fit in more but something told you that was incorrect.
Now Haven had just gone into Year 10 and you finally found out the truth one day when Haven came back from school.
You were in the kitchen cooking breakfast when you heard the door to the cabin open and shut. “Haven sweetie?” you called out over the sizzle of sausages in the frying pan, “your grandmother and uncle are coming from Asgard for dinner, could you set the table?”
“I don’t want to see them!” Haven shouted and you heard the tremor in her voice and how her feet hurried across the wooden floor until she opened her bedroom door and slammed it behind her, the lock clicking into place.
You frowned and set the sausages on a low setting before walking to her room. It was useful that the house was a bungalow and therefore easier to get to your daughter’s bedroom. Gently knocking on the door, you frowned when you heard Haven yell ‘GO AWAY!’. Worried but accepting of her wish to be alone, you stepped away from the door and resumed cooking in the kitchen with a frown.
Loki returned from Asgard with Frigga and Thor an hour later and he instantly knew something was wrong when he saw the look on your face. Pulling you aside, the God whispered softly, “what happened?”
“Haven came home an hour ago and… she wasn’t her usual self, she didn’t even say hello and said she didn’t want to see Frigga or Thor and slammed her door and screamed at me when I knocked,” you whispered, tears forming in your eyes.
“I’ll go and talk to her,” Loki assured you, pressing a soft kiss to your brow before making his way down the corridor to Haven’s room. Knocking gently on the door, Loki heard the surprised yelp from inside and then an immediate ‘GO AWAY’ afterwards. “Haven, darling, it’s daddy,” Loki whispered softly, his ears straining against the silence to hear what his daughter was doing.
The lock clicked and the door opened slightly, revealing Haven to her father. Her eyes were puffy from crying and her hands were shaking as she gazed up at her father. The God of Mischief instantly froze at the sight of her - never had he seen his daughter this distraught.
“Go away, dad, please,” Haven whispered brokenly, her hand trembling on the door as if she was at war with herself on whether to slam the door shut or allow him inside. “I’m okay,” she whispered, her lie tasting like ash in Loki’s mouth.
Loki’s face softened and he looked at the door and then back to her, trying his best to hold back his own worry at the sight of his crying daughter. “Sweetheart, what happened?” the God whispered softly and he saw that his question brought her to the brink of tears, “are you okay?”
Haven released a pained whine and shook her head, clasping her hands together over her chest and stepping backwards, allowing Loki access to her room. Instantly, the God entered the room and closed the door behind him, sliding down it gently to sit on the floor patiently. “Take your time,” Loki whispered into the quiet of the room, watching his little girl stare at him in disbelief and pain, “I will sit here for however long it takes until you talk to me.”
Haven’s mouth opened, her lip trembled and she seemed to be thinking of what to say before her mouth shut and she shook her head, beginning to cry again. Loki faltered at the sight but said nothing, choosing to wait for his daughter to say something to him rather than him forcing her to. “I… I can’t,” Haven whispered weakly, hiding her face in her hands as she sobbed.
“That’s okay,” Loki replied softly, opening his arms in an offer for a hug, “would you prefer a cuddle?”
The tiny Goddess stared at her father for a moment before the dam broke and she nodded quickly, walking towards him before her legs failed and she fell into his arms, sobbing into his breastplate. Loki’s arms wrapped tightly around his daughter and rested his head head on hers, closing his eyes and rubbing her back soothingly.
Twenty minutes passed before Haven’s sobs subsided and she pulled away from him slightly, looking up at him with doe eyes. Loki smiled warmly at her and wiped a few tears away with his thumb, watching Haven lean into the touch with a broken smile. “Will you tell me now?” Loki whispered softly, watching the war in Haven’s head before she brokenly nodded and pushed herself onto her knees.
“The friends that I have… well… the old friends i had…” Haven began slowly, looking down at her hands more than her father, her expression trembling with misery, “they… saw me shift… four weeks ago… I became my male self and they screamed… called me an abomination and demanded I stay my female self permanently if… if i didn’t want to be ‘freaky’...”
Loki’s expression darkened, his seiðr crackling in the air, startling Haven. Once he saw the fear on Haven’s face, the God pulled back his seiðr and nodded to her, “continue, darling.”
“I thought… I thought I’d be accepted…” Haven whispered brokenly, looking at Loki, her eyes filling with tears as she shook her head, “every time I’ve been around them since then… I’ve never been Haven… just ‘freak’, ‘it’, ‘weirdo’... I broke today… I grabbed Kaylee and put her to sleep, giving her a brutal nightmare… when she woke up, she ran off to the office…”
“Haven…” Loki began only to see Haven’s glare and remain silent.
“I’ve been suffering with this for weeks,” Haven snarled, glaring deeply at her father, “they’re not my friends anymore. Today was the worst… they… they…” Haven’s voice broke and she whimpered as she reached into her pocket and pulled out the necklace Loki had gifted her for her eleventh birthday - a simple black bit of string with Loki’s Nordic symbol on it. It was shattered.
“Oh, sweet girl,” Loki whispered lovingly, staring down at the broken symbol, “you did everything right.”
“I did?” Haven whimpered against Loki’s breastplate, her soft sobs cracking Loki’s heart bit by bit as he had to watch his girl crumble. “But… I used my seiðr on her!” Haven protested, tears streaming anew down her cheeks as she looked up at her father.
Loki smiled softly and encompassed his daughter in his arms tightly, pressing a kiss to her temple. “I attacked your uncle with my seiðr when I was small,” he admitted, colour tinting his cheeks, “he had told me I was weak for relying on my seiðr so I gave him nightmares for two days and he came to me crying and apologising. I remind him of it sometimes.”
“But what about your time as Thomas…? Did you have your seiðr then…?” Haven asked, tilting her head curiously and Loki noticed the subject change but he decided that it was what she needed so he allowed the topic to be dropped for now.
“Ah, that… that was different,” the God whispered before shifting into Thomas and pulling Haven close to him, smiling when she looked up into his eyes adoringly, “I was banished - meant to live a mortal life and come back when my mortal body died. My seiðr was blocked. But when I met your mother, I felt a spark of something… I realise now that it was my seiðr reacting to meeting my soulmate but… at the time I thought it was fear - fear that Lucille would kill her.”
Haven’s expression soured at the mention of Lucille and she turned her head away. “And then you died to protect mother?”
Thomas smiled and nodded his head, absentmindedly running his fingers through Haven’s hair, looking up at the ceiling. “I died to give your mother time to escape. I begged Lucille to leave Allerdale and she almost did but I said the wrong thing and the next thing I knew, she had a knife in my cheek… Then, I was standing outside Allerdale, watching your mother kill Lucille and we shared a moment before I woke up in Asgard…”
“Why didn’t you go straight to mum? Why did you make her live without you?” Haven asked softly, invested in her father’s story now that he was telling her it.
“I couldn’t…” Thomas replied faintly, sorrow clouding his expression, “Odin forbade me from going back to Midgard, back to your mother. The only times I was allowed was when Thor wished to fight anonymously in the world wars. Both times I had to fight too, keeping up the impression that I was faithful to my family. Then I fell from the Bifrost and…”
“Dad…” Haven whispered, seeing healed scars threatening to reopen in Thomas’s soul at the reminder of his torture. “And then you met mother again,” she continued for him, used to his silence at the mention of Thanos and all that happened that year he fell.
“Yes,” Thomas replied softly, looking at his daughter gratefully. “She was as beautiful as the day I lost her,” he whispered, his hands conjuring up an image of you in battle gear, standing in front of the glass container in the helicarrier, “powerful and confident - exactly like the woman I married. They called her in, thought they could use her against me. She made a different call.”
“Then you came here,” Haven faintly whispered, joy shining in her eyes, “you had me.”
Thomas chuckled softly and nodded, pulling her closer before tickling her belly and grinning at her joyous laughs. “And then we had you and later on, Kore,” Thomas ended his tale, allowing his daughter to calm her laughter.
After a few minutes, Thomas looked down at Haven and saw that she was breathing regularly and looked calm. “Are you ready to go out to see your grandmother and Uncle?” Thomas whispered with a smile, looking over to the door and dramatically sniffing, “mmm! Your mother put her best effort into this meal too! Are you sure you don’t want any juicy chicken or yummy mashed potatoes?”
Haven laughed and nodded eagerly, getting to her feet before pulling Thomas up with her. “Oh, wait…” she yelped before purple seiðr washed over her and she was dressed in her best Asgardian robes and she had shifted to her male form.
Thomas smiled at his son, taking him by the hand and leading him out to the dining room.
Frigga looked up from her chess game with Kore to smile at her son and grandson. “Loki, dear!” she exclaimed brightly, looking back at her chess board and blanching at the sight of Kore checkmating her king.
“Oooh!” Kore exclaimed excitedly, looking over to Haven with a grin, “brother! I beat grandmother!”
“An excellent feat, sister,” Haven replied, walking over to his sister and ruffling her hair - much to the dismay of the younger child of Loki, “but you have not beat me yet.”
“Yet!” Kore exclaimed determinedly, “I will soon!”
Haven laughed and sat beside his sibling, brushing hair away from his face as he smiled down the sofa at his uncle. “Have you been on long quests, Uncle?” he asked, curiosity sparking in his eyes when Thor puffed up with pride.
“As a matter of fact, I have!” Thor boomed, laughing loudly as he looked over at Thomas, “brother, you will not believe such a thing but I managed to take down four bilgesnipe on my very own!”
“Untrue,” Frigga whispered to the two children, stifling their giggles with her gentle hands, “he slew one and scared the other three away.”
“Mother!!” Thor whined with a pout, eyeing his mother as if he was a child that was embarrassed by their parent.
Haven laughed and shook his head fondly at this little family. There was a Thunder God who behaved as if he was thirteen years old. There was grandmother who was a Queen and yet she looked so normal in her christmas knitted sweater and modest leggings. Then there was father who had been there for him for so many years, fighting to see him smile and teaching him so much about himself that he probably wouldn’t have known on his own. Then there was mother, their smile so sweet, their touch so gentle and gentle that Haven could almost imagine it now, soothing him and helping him feel at peace. Then there was Kore. To be fairly honest to himself, Haven had hated his sibling when she had first been born , feeling as if Kore would take his mother and father away but Loki and Y/N had stuck by her side as much as before.
“I love you all,” Haven whispered, quieting down any conversation around him and colour tinted his cheeks when everyone turned to look at him before Kore wrapped her arms around his frame and yelled ‘I LOVE YOU TOO’.
The family all gave Haven the tightest hug and reassured her that he was loved and appreciated. Thomas kissed his head and whispered ‘we will always love you, Haven’ while you whispered to him ‘we are proud of the person you are becoming’.

Y/N blinked awake; the streaks of sunlight came flooding through the thin gaps of the curtains, gently illuminating the small studio apartment.
“Urgh, …….Jarvis? What time is it?”
She groaned, dragging the cosy blanket that she was tangled in, up to cover her face.  What little light was in the room was already far too much for the searing pain pounding in her head.
“Good morning, Y/N.  It is currently 8:45am.  Would you like to hear your schedule for today?”
Jarvis asked, the noise of the automated voice ringing through the apartment making you yell out in pain.
“Urrrghhhh, Jarvis just shut up!  Activate protocol Eleven”
Y/N managed to groan out, silencing Jarvis and instantly filling all the windows with a dark tint.  she lay back, sinking her head into the pillow and looking at the black void where her ceiling would be, and mentally prepared herself for the torment the day would bring.
Blinding migraines where a debilitating side effect of Y/N’s powers.  The more she seemed to wield her powers, the worse the migraines got.  Days like today meant all she would want to do is stay in the darkness, sip water and refresh the ice packs over her eyes.   This was the downside of having a mother who spent her entire pregnancy with you working within a secret Hydra lab.
Sure, you had kick-ass telekinetic powers and the ability to read and control minds, but using your powers took a devastating toll on your mortal body.
After your mother had died in childbirth, you were left in the care of your uncle Bruce Banner.  Bruce knew the importance of keeping your abilities a secret, he knew to well what it was like to be used as nothing more than a weapon, so instead he helped you train your mind for more than just it’s enhanced abilities, trying to make sure you had as close to a normal childhood as was possible for someone who was home schooled in secret by a world class nuclear physicist with spectacular anger management issues.
It wasn’t long before Banner was picked up by S.H.I.E.L.D and recruited into the Avengers initiative, along with Tony Stark, Thor, Natasha and Clint.  One day Bruce didn’t return back to the small home you shared, a week past, then two, with still no word.  Until finally an unknown phone number rang on your mobile.
“Bruce?! Bruce?! Is that you?! Where the fuck have you been?! Are you okay?! I swear to……”
“Y/N!! Y/N!! Just stop and listen to me.  I’m safe, but I won’t be home anytime soon.  Just keep a low profile and stay safe okay.  I’ll be back soon.  Love you trouble”
“I love you too Uncle Bruce”
Y/N smiled, reluctantly hanging up the phone.  It wasn’t like she wasn’t used to living alone.  Bruce often headed off for months at a time, he found it therapeutic to travel and help people. She knew her uncle took off to help others to make up for the guilt he felt whenever he turned into the big green guy.
A few more days past, it was the middle of the night, and Y/N woke up, something felt off. Cautiously sitting up in bed she gazed around the moonlit room, her eyes adjusting to the darkness.  Slowly she crept out of bed, moving towards the wardrobe at the end of her room.
If someone was there, she didn’t want to be caught with her pants down, literally, as she tended to sleep in tank top and underwear.
Suddenly, the door kicked open and a blinding light filled the entire room, followed by a deafening BANG.  Disorientated and confused Y/N tried to focus on what was happening as dozens of armed soldiers broke their way into the room, before, with a sharp crack to the back of her head everything faded to darkness.
Once the ringing in her ears had subsided, she awoke in a brightly lit room she didn’t recognise.  As she went to sit up, she found herself bound to what appeared to be a examination table, as she began to struggle against her weight of her restraints.
“Woah there Matilda, just take it easy” a cocky voice came from the opposite side of the room.  As she strained to look up, she seen the smiling Tony Stark waltzing towards her, smiling and typing on his phone.
“I will calm down once you get me out of these ridiculous restraints.” You yelled through gritted teeth, pulling at the straps to no avail.
“No can do Eleven.  Not until we find out if you’re a friend or a foe” Stark deadpanned, facing away from you and continuing to type on the computer based at the side of the room.
Your eyes became a piercing bright blue as you stared over at Tony
“You will undo these restraints and let me go.” You said, calmly as Tony slowly turned around to face you.  The same blue that engulfed your eyes crawling over like branching smoke over towards Stark.
“Yes…..” Stark said, beginning to look confused, his eyes turning bluer with each passing moment.
“I will release you”
He pressed a button on his phone and the restraints released from your limbs.  Quickly you sat up and began rubbing your wrists, desperate to get some blood circulating back into them.  The door crashed open, with Steve Rodgers barging into the room and immediately grabbing you by the neck and placing a collar around your neck.  He was too quick for you to fight back or argue.  As Rodgers began to look at you, he quickly took a step back, averting his gaze.
“Is he blushing?” you thought to yourself as you realised you where still in your underwear and tank-top.
“As fashionable as this collar is, I would prefer some trousers instead” you smirked looking over at Tony, who somehow seemed to be back to normal, the blue dissipating from his eyes completely.
Shit.  This fucking collar must be blocking my powers. Typical Mr America coming in here and ruining everything” you thought rolling your eyes and tugging on the collar.
“Yeah, yeah, we’ll get you some clothes, and a nice isolation cell with a beautiful view just for you Matilda, don’t you worry” Stark said, now wearing a smirk of his own.
“My name is Y/N! not fucking Matilda, not Eleven, not any other stupid joke you come up with asshole” you growled at him.
“Is that anyway for a lady to talk?” Stark retorted back towards the doorway as you where lead away your isolation cell.
The cell was as bland as you expected a prison cell to be.  You still weren’t entirely sure where you were but judging by the amount of glass, concrete walls and hi-tech equipment built into the place, you figured this must be the famous “Stark Tower” you had heard about on the news.
You weren’t sure how much time had passed since your arrival at Stark Tower, but you estimated it must have been at least 3 days.  You hadn’t seen Stark or Captain righteousness since your arrival.  Only the inside of your bright isolation cell, and the cupboard built into the wall that had fresh clothing and food inside it twice a day.
If it wasn’t for the small collection of classics on the small bookshelf on the opposite wall, you were certain you would have gone mad already.  From the isolation, terrible food or agitating collar weighing down your neck, you were unsure.
You looked up from reading a copy of Shakespeare’s Macbeth hearing the unmistakable sound of boots running against the floor, then a flash of blue energy from outside your cell door, then, silence.
The intercom to the room crackled to life and you heard a sultry voice saying,
“My my, what do we have here? A poor little caged bird? What could Stark have possibly been thinking locking up a beauty such as you?”
Still looking down at your book, you replied unimpressed to the voice,
“I’m not talking to thin air like some kind of mad woman.  If you want to talk to me, come in here otherwise piss off.”
You challenged, while licking your finger and turning the crisp page of the book.
The voice chuckled back,
“As you wish pet.”
You heard the hissing noise of the door unlocking as a tall black-haired man strolled into your cell.  Well, he wasn’t really a man, he was the most beautiful being you’d ever seen, dressed elegantly in emerald-green, black fine leather and regal gold accents, you where certain this man must be a god.  His piercing blue eyes gazed through you, burning through to your core. Sending a dark shiver of desire through you. Despite his beauty, there was a sadness in his eyes, a desperation.  But almost as quickly as you recognised it, it was gone.
“Kneel mortal, confess your Midgardian crimes to your God, and perhaps I may pardon you”
He spoke confidently, clutching onto a gold and silver bladed sceptre, with a shimmering blue stone within it, gesturing to the cell floor in front of him, his gaze never leaving you.
You scoffed in response.
“Is this guy for real?”
“Sorry my God” you laughed sarcastically.
“I don’t kneel for guys on the first date, even if they do look like you.”
Raising an eyebrow she looked him up and down.
In response he smirked and looked at her with amusement.
A green glow radiated from his hands, as a mysterious power forced you to your knees in front of him, the end of his sceptre pressing down the collar at the base of your neck.
“tell me, mortal.  What have you done to be imprisoned in such a fashion?” He asked, tilting the blade of his sceptre under your chin, angling you up to look at him, as he tilted his own head looking at you with fascination.
“They’re scared of my powers if you must know.  If it wasn’t for this collar, you would be too”
you spat at him defiantly, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of knowing how truly scared you were, despite feeling yourself getting wet under his piercing gaze.
“As fun as breaking you would be for me pet.  I do have a schedule to keep to, so you will just have to be a good girl for me and stay still.”
He smirked, pointing the glowing blue stone of the sceptre towards your chest.
Nothing.
His eyebrows furrowed,
“I don’t understand, this usually works”
he said, looking more and more confused as he kept prodding you with the glowing sceptre with no results.  You laughed, despite the rising fear you felt.
“Performance issues? It can be difficult for some men to perform under pressure, I wouldn’t worry about it.  I promise I won’t tell anyone.”  You sassed, laughing at him.
His eyes darkened and he smirked reaching down and grabbing your chin bringing his face close to yours.
“Oh, I’m no a mere mortal, pet. I’m a God. I am Loki, of Asgard, and I am burdened with glorious purpose.”
You watched as Loki began to throw the sceptre aside as he growled, dragging you up to him
“I suppose I will just have to enjoy breaking you the old-fashioned way.”

Love At Super Sonic Speed. Teaser Chapter Eight
Nat and I scurried down the hall, our heels clicking. We reached the double doors and could here music blaring from behind them, I placed my hands on both doors throwing them open harshly and with super strength.
The doors flung open and hit the walls creating dents where the handles made contact with the wall. The conversations stopped and everybody turned to look at us. We made eye contact with each other and smirked.
We looked forward and strut into the room with our heads held high. People started cheering and clapping, I made eye contact with my dad to see a proud smirk plastered on his face. I returned his look with my own. Nat and I made our way down to the other group of avengers, we all talked for a few hours, getting drinks, now I wasn't legally allowed to drink, but I couldn't get drunk anyways, nor would I even get buzzed so S.H.I.E.L.D allowed me to.
I had moved through the group of people and over to the bar to grab another Balkan, I was waiting for the bartender to finish it up when a blonde guy, who looked to be in his mid thirties, slapped my ass, I turned around and grabbed his wrist in a flash, he smirked at me. "Excuse me?" I said glaring into his cloudy brown eyes. Apparently I had said it louder that I meant to.
Everybody within 10 feet of me turned to look at the commotion. Whispers passed immediately, and everybody in the room was looking at me. "Hey pretty lady, you wanna come home with me?" The man slurred, not trying to move his hand from my grip. "No, I'm good, I'd appreciate it if you didn't touch my ass again."
I saw the avengers stand from across the room, Nat looked ready to stab someone, but held everybody back, she knew I could handle it. "I touch whatever I want to, your a fine piece of meat." He said, reaching for my boobs. I had a plan in mind so I let him touch me for a moment hating every second of his, he squeezed and fondled, 'My drink now!' I had projected into the bartenders head.
The bartender looked startled but looked at me and nodded, he finished it and pressed it into my hand, everyone was still watching with wide eyes. I brought the cup to my lips and took a drink of it, the strong alcohol burning my throat.
I released the cup it falling onto the mans hand, alcohol spilling all over his hand and forearm. He pulled away cursing, and trying to flick the liquid of himself.
"I'm so sorry!" I feigned innocence, "let me help with that!" I said reaching out to grab his arm, "No it's fine." The man grumbled. "No I insist!" I said excitedly. I grabbed his arm and let my powers flow, the mans arm instantly igniting.
The man shrieked and ran around the room trying to put the fire out, I stood there in amusement, and ordered another drink. It was served to me in record time, I sipped it slowly the man still screaming, I was growing annoyed with his screams, so I walked over to where he was running towards.
I grabbed his collar and used my strength to lift him into the air and slam him into the wall, then I grabbed the back of his neck and his pants, lifting the still burning man off the ground, I walked effortlessly to the window, throwing him through it, the glass shattering and the man falling 20 feet and into the pool.
I brushed my hands off and turned to look at the crowd, I grinned and raised my hands in a 'surrender' position. "I mean the audacity!" I said letting my hands fall and slap my thighs. Everybody laughed, cheered, and applauded, I bowed mockingly and made my way over to my family, who were hooting and hollering, Nat had a shit-eating grin on her face, and Steve was howling with laughter.
Dad had his proud father face on, and Thor, Clint, and Bruce were clapping and laughing. "That's our kid!" Dad said patting me on the back. I laughed and sat down next to Nat who gave me a fist bump.
