omg anon such a fun question!!!! i'm gonna answer for the dabi iterations only since there’s so many of them, but if you’re interested in my other iterations as well pls do not hesitate to send in another ask! <3

touya-nii (and, honestly, sd!nat touya, too): wagyu steak, of course, with steamed sweet potato and grilled asparagus. touya-nii is a notorious meat eater, and although he lectures his little sister on eating a balanced, colourful diet stuffed with a variety of fruits n veggies, he could definitely take a page or two out of his own book and eat a few more fruits n veggies, too (more than a spoonful of potatoes and three spears of asparagus, at least!). bmb dabi: ramen! any kind, from the cheap dried packages to the uber expensive artisan bowls tomura favours. tag dabi: karaage don. it’s cheap, it’s tasty, and it’s easy for him to make on his own. twin dabi: beef udon! hold the fishcakes, please. twin touya: penne bolognese! DA touya: savoury crepes! dumb expensive for a very small portion of food, but that doesn’t matter when you cry tears of pure platinum, now does it? 1950s dabi: a really, really good burger from his favourite hole-in-the-wall diner and fresh thick cut fries (with extra ketchup!). who likes spicy food? touya-nii loves spice like he’s got something to fucking prove. but he genuinely does enjoy it, and he enjoys it the most out of all of my dabis. twin touya, sd!nat touya, + dark academia touya can also handle spice fairly well and like a bit of kick with their meals. bmb dabi likes spice if it comes paired with copious amounts of sugar. who has the worst sweet tooth? bmb dabi BY FAR. he lives on a diet of sugar; he thrives on a diet of sugar. tomura has definitely had to drag him by the hair to the dentist for cavity fillings more than once. twin dabi also likes sugar, but not nearly to the extent and frequency bmb dabi does. bmb dabi’s sugar consumption is almost on the same level as flawless tomura’s—almost.

omggg anon i love this question so much!!!!

so i’ve kind of touched on this before BUT to answer your question more specifically and more in detail: yes, you’re so right in ur reading here!!! i wouldn’t necessarily use the term ‘boss’, because that isn’t really what it is; she can’t tell him what to do, per se, and he will absolutely push back (he has issues with authority n being told what to do) if someone is ordering him around, especially someone who is technically beneath him in their relationship hierarchy.

what she can do, however, is get away with being a hell of a lot brattier with dabi than she can with tomura. as such, she’s much more likely to get exactly what she wants from him, even if he huffs and snarks and growls and curses while he gives it to her. it also depends on where in the series we are, and how both reader and dabi are feeling. he’s a lot more likely to give into her easier and softer when she’s just gone through something and is upset, or when tomura’s mental break is cresting, versus the beginning of the series as well as after the series (in the christmas sequel that i have yet to post LMAO) when tomura is in a much better state of mind and, as a result, both dabi and reader are, too.

so i guess, in a way reader can kind of covertly be ‘bossy’ by being exceptionally bratty and stubborn, pushing back and pressing her luck with dabi in a way that she would never even dare to attempt with tomura unless the thing she was pushing for was extremely important to her.

in terms of dabi’s response and his pushover status, it is both because he has very little experience with this (aka doesn’t know what to do/how to handle it, like you said) and that he just has trouble refusing her. the series itself mentions that dabi has a very difficult time denying her or saying no when he knows he should, when he knows tomura would, in that situation. so those are the two main reasons why dabi is so likely to give into reader’s requests and/or demands. on top of that, he doesn’t have the same Daddy gene that tomura does; dabi likes being in control, sure, but it definitely isn’t to the extent that tomura does, nor does dabi find much satisfaction or validation in caretaking duties such as enforcing rules (tho punishing he will definitely have some fun with). bmb dabi can be kind of lazy, and while he doesn’t exactly like being told what to do, he also doesn’t envy tomura’s leader role and responsibilities (in any aspect of life).

idk if youve ever got this ask before but do ur characters allow their reader to have friends? ik they cut their reader off from friends/family but are there any conditions they would allow reader to have a friend or two? like if touya-nii followed someone for a few days and background checked and KNOWS shes a good person to let his princess hang around? I use touya-nii as an example cause I feel like hes the most like toxic lmao and bmb dabi popped in my head as well

good question!! and the answer depends on the iteration, tbh!

tw: toxic relationships!

i already talked about touya-nii and friends in this ask, and i’ve mentioned that bmb tomura was cool with surface level university friends that don’t ask many prying questions or stick their noses where they don’t belong (aka anyone who isn’t going to start raising concerns). bmb dabi is more likely to be jealous of readers friends (because he is such a selfish boy!) than to bar her from having any completely. tag!dabi would be wary—why does she need friends, when she has him and his friends? aren’t they enough?—but he wouldn’t be as vicious and controlling about it as touya-nii is. he’d ultimately be okay with friends he has thoroughly ‘approved’ of. the twins are cool with friends as long as they aren’t male, sugar daddy natsuo is NOT okay with friends in any capacity, dark academia dabi is okay with friends that he has secretly vetted and will very cleverly manipulate his reader into breaking the friendship if said friend begins to become a nuisance, 1950s dabi and 1950s keigo are cool with friends, tag!keigo is 100% okay with friends obv, flawless tomura is really hesitant when it comes to friends, especially male friends, but he’ll wait a little and feel the situation out before he cuts them off (rly depends on how nosy they are and how much they flare his jealousy!).

you’re right though, touya-nii IS the most toxic, and the friend scale above kind of goes off of this; how toxic, abusive, and dangerous the relationship is. the more toxic, the less likely reader is to have friends, because friends like to sniff around and tug at loose threads and sound alarms (because they care for their friend and their well-being) and the most toxic men just can't have that, now, can they?

Idk if this is a silly question but is there ever a point or situation where touya-nii isnt so jealous and possessive to where she’s allowed friends? or it doesnt matter cause hes borderline sociopath

tw: abusive relationships, toxic relationships

to answer your question: nope! the raging jealousy and possession/possessiveness are kind of like two of his core traits when it comes to her. i talk about touya’s need for control + power a lot and this is heavily connected to that. he desires control over every single aspect of her life. to him, he literally cannot fathom why she’d ever need friends when she has him and natsuo (this sentiment in particular comes from his antisocial personality disorder (sociopathy) which mostly inhibits him from forming and understanding meaningful relationships. natsuo, his mother, and his reader are technically exceptions to the rule, but as i’ve said before, his ‘love’ for them is twisted and thorny and toxic).

this is also an abuse tactic, whether touya is actively aware of it or not, to keep her beneath his thumb completely and entirely. a lot of abusers will slowly and almost systematically cut their victim off from any support lines (friends and family) so they become trapped and completely reliant on their abuser. the last thing touya would want is some ‘outsider’ looking in and possibly putting ‘ideas’ in his precious brainwashed baby’s brain. thus, if she were to desperately need a friend and beg and cry and plead for it, after being unreasonably offended by it all, the only way touya would allow it to happen would be through supervised visits (and probably a thoroughly vetted ‘friend’).

in this respect, bmb reader would actually be a good candidate, because she is in an abusive and toxic relationship as well, and she is less likely to raise as many alarm bells as someone who isn’t in their position would. granted, bmb reader is a brat and has more freedoms than tnii reader does, and she’d definitely be critical of touya (her and touya would not get along) but not to the point to be a real threat to him.

it is definitely cute, in a twisted sort of way, to think about the two of them getting together and having sleepovers and doing homework together and giggling over the phone late at night etc etc all the things bffs do, and it would probably be good for the both of them to lean on each other and have one another there for support and to talk to about their situations. to have someone who, in some capacity, understands. it would be nice for tnii reader to have a friend, honestly. bmb reader not only has that freedom (at least for surface level uni friends) but she also has dabi to lean on, too. tnii reader is entirely alone; it isn’t like natsuo is ever on her side. it is honestly very tragic, and very heartbreaking, when you think about it.

that’s fair! you can def love someone without necessarily liking them. when it comes to canon dabi i 100% agree with u!!! i think that even if he treated fuyumi as, like, below him as a child (as in not on his level, not someone who could understand him, def at least partially due to her ‘annoying’ concern for him—she just doesn’t get it, she still holds onto hope that their family can be mended, fixed, made whole, as if it isn’t irrevocably, inherently broken, she doesn’t understand what it’s like, to have this desire blazing inside of him, because dad never did that to her), he still very clearly cared for her and loved her, and still does even after everything, as indicated by his ‘fuyumi-chan’ when he’s mumbling to himself half naked on that ratty old couch.

when it comes to my touya-nii in particular, i’m unsure. i’m kind of right on the fence, because i can totally see where ur coming from, but at the same time i wrote him as someone who is a certified sociopath and has very little empathy for anyone other than his core three people (reader, mom, natsuo; and even then it barely exists). either way, you’re more than welcome to interpret him & his actions and behaviours towards her however you like! death of the author n all that c:

I know like all your iterations have a hard exterior and entitled rich boy complex but what does it take for each of them to get to that *soft* place/moment with their reader? like even before the snowman series was there ever moments tnii was soft? for example something random like bmb tomura getting soft when his mental health was hurting and he just needed his reader

omg anon this is a FUN question!!! i’m only going to answer for touya-nii, bmb dabi + tag dabi, but if you’re interested in my other iterations as well (the twins, 50s!dabi + DA!touya) or other characters just send in another ask and i’ll answer for them, too! c:

HAHAHA that is true for the most part, minus tag!dabi + bmb!dabi (at least in the rich boy complex bit but yeah they def all have hard exteriors hehe). one thing they all share is that they each become marginally softer and sweeter beneath the veil of night, particularly between two and five in the morning. it is a combination of the sleepy haze fatigue casts over their brains, as well as the faux/pseudo protection nighttime brings with it—they are all ever-so-slightly more willing and more likely to be more honest, open, raw and vulnerable during the deep, dark hours of the night. it feels as though those confessions and fears and desires mumbled out into her hair or skin or nightgown or sheets will stay hidden in the night, or will burn up with the rising sun, as if they never happened at all.

more specifically, though:

touya-nii: there are definitely moments before my snowman & me where touya is a little softer, with his behaviour in i take my pills and i’m happy all the time, especially at the end of the piece, being a good example. anything that rudely reminds touya that he isn’t actually entirely invincible and completely in control of his life and the lives of those surrounding him will more often than not have him seeking out the comfort only his little sister can provide him with (and his blood relatives are often a very strong and stark reminder of this, and thus a trigger), especially since she is one constant in his life where he can be 99.9% sure she is his to entirely control and predict. it’s kind of ironic that the reminder of his lack of complete and total control is exactly what causes his usually meticulously controlled emotions to spiral.

touya also has a tendency to continually grow incrementally softer towards his reader the longer they’ve been officially together.

bmb dabi: bmb dabi actually gets soft ridiculously easily, and sometimes all it takes is a dazzling smile, or a pretty pout, or glittering eyes blinking wide and pleading at him, to make him totally melt. he is also very much not immune to that sweet, playful begging that’s pitched high and full of giggles but not necessarily whiny or super bratty. bmb dabi is also such a sucker for waterworks and intense negative emotions in those he loves/cares about; reader starts crying in the middle of their fight in part two and his demeanour almost instantly changes.

additionally, bmb dabi just genuinely loves seeing those he cares about happy, especially if he is the source or reason for that happiness (stems mostly from selfishness and arrogance + deeply rooted/buried, subconscious self-esteem issues; it makes him feel very important). while he doesn’t like to be told what to do or ordered around, he does enjoy the payoff that comes with fulfilling a want or need of someone he loves, especially if it’s of his own violation, which almost always works in tandem to satisfy something that he wants as well, or if it’s something that’s been asked of him in a gentle and sweet way (as opposed to demanded, ordered, or whined/screamed out in a bratty tantrum). even so, this emotional payoff is something uncontrollable, and something that still blazes in his chest (albeit less intensely) any time he gives into a request or demand made by his reader, which is one of the reasons why he has such a difficult time saying no to her.

tag dabi: genuine honesty really gets him if it comes from someone he actually gives a fuck about. something that leaves his girl raw and ripped open by her own vying fingers, bearing it all to him, for him, ribs and heart and soul, will somewhat melt his steely exterior. he’s phenomenal at reading others and deciphering the nuances and truths embedded in their facial expressions and tones of voice (which is why he’s so damn good at subtle manipulation), so it is exceptionally easy for him to tell when someone is being truthful and authentic. and despite the fact that he himself often isn’t truthful + authentic, it’s a trait he seriously values in others.

when he is genuine and sincere and truthful with someone, it signifies that he trusts them and cares about them deeply, so to him and in his mind, when someone is genuine and authentic with him, it means they trust him enough to be open and vulnerable with him, and he appreciates that a lot (it makes him feel special and significant, which in turn softens him a bit). this, of course, usually works in his favour as well, as he will exploit the trust + honesty + insecurities of others (shared in confidence with him) as one of his many tools to manipulate them into doing exactly what he wants.

the only other thing that will make him exceptionally soft and is almost completely reserved for his baby and his baby alone is seeing her in extreme psychological and/or physical distress. it ignites and flares his Daddy Instincts, has a fierce need to protect and nurture surging hot and blistering in his chest—a blaze that entirely consumes his being—and suddenly he must shelter and safeguard her, must take care of her, must make it better. this is demonstrated in the beginning of part two, when he tends to her and her psychological and physical wounds at the motel after keigo’s abusive outburst.

so those are the things that’ll make each of them soft with their reader, tho now that i’ve answered and i’m rereading your ask i’m realizing that you might’ve actually been asking what will make them be vulnerable with their reader, in which case the answer is:

touya-nii: exactly the same answer as what makes him soft. touya-nii possesses several sociopathic traits, one of those being his extreme selfishness; the things that make him soft almost always pertain to his own needs or serve him in some way, shape, or form.

bmb dabi: after a sacred or a deeply personal interaction, like sex or being intimate in any way. it’s almost a transaction to him; if you can make him feel safe and you’ve already worked on gaining his trust (as well as have already opened up to him!), he’ll open up to you in these moments of intense or extreme intimacy, or directly following those moments when the remnants of such a substantial and personal connection still wavers in the air between the two of you. in other words, he has to feel a deep connection with you first, and only after that has been established and solidified to concrete will you even have a hope of him being vulnerable, which will only be possible/come out when the conditions are ideal and he feels exceptionally safe. example: when he shares a piece of his past with reader in part four, after a sexual encounter.

tag dabi: either when he judges that it will be beneficial for him to reveal something about himself (example: revealing to reader that his mother was/is an addict in the middle of one of their more vicious fights, in an effort to knock reader down a few pegs and gain the upper hand again) or, similar to bmb dabi + kind of connecting with what makes tag dabi soft, if you trust him enough to be vulnerable with him AND he loves/cares about you, he will be more likely to be vulnerable with you, too. both are crucial components to the equation, and the chances of him revealing a shard of himself to you are even higher if you’ve just been very open and emotional with him, or if you’re going through an exceptionally difficult time. example: him revealing bits of his family past to reader while during their motel stay.

I know in ur stories they're all frequently high but I was gunna ask if they were addicts or bingers. like my dad was a binger but that was just his excuse like to me an addicts an addict, but I just wasnt sure to the extent of how often they use like every day or every few days and they have that one night they just get high off their ass more than usual. sorry I hope this made sense of my jumbled question/statement lmao

oh anon i love this question so much.

tw: drugs

so, to me, ‘addict’ = someone who needs [x] to function in some way shape or form. the way that they consume it, whether it’s methodical to keep from coming down/getting sick/becoming too lucid or it’s taken to deal with emotions when life gets Too Much—too hard to handle or face sober—which would necessitate more of a binge-like consumption, doesn’t matter to me. i agree with you 100%, an addict is an addict is an addict. if you need something to feel normal, to feel okay, to lean on as a crutch or to self-soothe, you’re an addict. if something bad or unpleasant happens, and your first instinct is to reach for drink/drugs, you’re an addict. i think there are levels of severity to addiction for sure, but if you’re dependent on it, you’re addicted.

to get to your question of how often my guys use, the answer varies depending on the iteration!! bmb dabi is so deep in addiction that he needs several pills a day just to feel okay and functional on a basic level; to not get sick. he barely gets a high from it, it’s literally to keep from getting ill, to feel normal. but bmb dabi’s addiction also has a mental component (like all addictions do!); even if he’s getting nothing more than wisps of a high, there is still something within his mind that says ‘if i take this pill, i will feel better, and everything will be okay, everything will be more manageable’ (this is taken directly from my own father’s addiction haha) even though the drug no longer provides that escapist euphoria. obviously, when he’s feeling like he really needs it, he’ll take a little extra as a treat, but this is how his addiction manifests for the most part.

bmb tomura does both; he uses to keep from getting sick, and then he uses on top of that to chase a high. bmb tomura also uses a wider variety of drugs than bmb dabi does, and he isn’t against using one drug to combat the comedown of another.

touya-nii isn’t as bad as bmb tomura, but he’s worse than bmb dabi. he loves his oxys, is often at least a little high, and he’ll often supplement a more intense high with coke, since cocaine withdrawals are mild in comparison to opioids. he needs to take a specific amount a day to feel normal, too, but he’s more likely to take a lil more than bmb dabi is just because he loves being high.

flawless tomura is kind of all over the place and comes the closest to binge user. his favourite is cocaine, and because of that he’s a little more inclined to go on binges than the others are. his reasons for binging vary, but he is absolutely reaching for that powder the moment something even mildly unpleasant happens, and that’s why i would consider him an addict as well.

tag!keigo is constantly chasing that high and increasing his intake accordingly as his tolerance rises.

minus flawless tomura, they all use everyday!

probably bmb dabi. he’s the sweetest and softest of all my iterations & has a slight hopeless romantic streak running through him. it’s a toss up between bmb dabi, 1950s dabi & twin!touya tbh. but i feel like twin!touya is also so fucking sadistic that it kind of negates any sort of romance/romantic qualities HAHA

hi anon bb!! <33 she already knows about his mental illness (this is kinda implied/indicated at the end of part three when she talks about him being ‘sick’) but she doesn’t know any details or specifics. tomura technically hasn’t been officially diagnosed with anything yet, but she knows that there’s something wrong that has been triggered or aggravated by their trip, and the first huge signifier of that is just his strange behaviour on their first full day in new york!!

How do you keep track of all the different versions of Dabi you have?

ANON IDK IF YOU’RE ASKING ABOUT MY SIMS VERSIONS OF DABI OR MY WRITTEN VERSIONS OF DABI LMAO

if you’re talking about my written iterations, i keep track of them in two ways! the first is purely that i know my stories back to front and could literally recite them to you word by word, so all of those versions separate themselves easily in my mind.

the second is that i keep what i call a ‘character notebook’, which has every character i’ve ever written (even naoya and gojou!) and is basically comprised of character profiles. those profiles have notes on each separate character (characteristics, tics, backstory, memories, etc etc), so each of my versions of dabi have pages n pages in that notebook dedicated to them!!

Who do you think out of all your series is most likely to have a behavior chart? Like if she gets enough stars for the week she gets an extra cookie or something. Do you think if SD! Natsuo had one that Dabi would take some off for fun? Or if bmb tomura had one do you think dabi would do it for her to give her a sense of peace?

anon i fucking LOVE this idea like i am actually squealing at this oh my GODDDDD

out of all of my series, touya-nii, bmb!tomura, sd!natsuo, and the twins are most likely to implement a behaviour chart. poison!dabi might give it a try, too, but he’d be a little too lenient with it and wouldn’t use it the same way that the others would (aka his use would be very sporadic: sometimes extremely strict, sometimes extremely lax, with it all really depending on his specific mood and the type of day he’s had). his use of it wouldn’t be as rigorous, organized, and controlled as the others.

overall, the charts all mix together behaviour with general chores:

good behaviour includes things such as eating her veggies, remembering to take her meds + vitamins, doing her homework and assignments in a timely manner, going to bed on time, not spending too much time on social media/playing video games etc (stars and stickers are taken off for swearing, talking back, disobedience of any kind, etc)

chores include things such as keeping her room—or their room, depending on the AU—clean (clothes put away properly, no stuffies out of place when she isn’t sleeping/cuddling with them (they have a designated space either in their shared closet or in her bedroom)), keeping her desk organized, cleaning up any messes she leaves in the kitchen (yes, even bmb!reader, yes, even though they have a maid—morale is important!), keeping up with personal hygiene (brushing teeth, washing hair, etc)

rewards and punishments vary widely depending on the AU as well as just how good or bad she’s been, with the outcome matching the severity of her behaviour.

sugar daddy natsuo:

sugar daddy natsuo has absolutely authorized touya to remove stars whenever he sees fit, which touya absolutely takes extreme advantage of.

touya takes stickers off for the most mundane, ridiculous things, such as a look that wasn’t even that dirty, or a loud noise/squeal, or anything that annoys him or amuses him in the slightest; touya takes stickers off for normal things, for reader just being herself, and he does this purely to be an asshole, he does this purely because he finds some sort of sick satisfaction in it all, in having this perceived power over her. and even though he knows that roughly 90% of the time natsuo knows he’s just fucking around and that, because of this, natsuo will ultimately give the stickers back to her, but this doesn’t stop him from removing them for absolute bullshit reasons, just to see the way her glassy eyes gleam and puckered chin quivers, just to hear her beg in that precious, pathetic little voice for him to please, don’t!, to hear her apologize for literally nothing at all, to hear her—force her—to tack on that glorious ‘-niisan’ to the end of his name when he gives her that unimpressed look after all of her shameful begging, the one with the sharp smile and glittering eyes, the one that says he knows she can plead better than that.

and it’s gorgeous, the way those tremors sewn into her voice turn from trepidation to irritation, from fear to fury as he coerces her into using the honorific as she entreats him, the term heavy and bitter on her tongue, with the knowledge that it won’t do a damn thing, that it isn’t going to make a damn difference either way, that he’s going to do exactly what he wants to regardless of how pretty and polite and perfectly she adheres to his every wish and whim; with the knowledge that if she refuses, if she disobeys, that she’ll get in trouble for real.

she knows it’s all a game, too, but that doesn’t make it hurt any less; that doesn’t stop a thick shield of tears from lacquering her eyes as he rips another one of those shimmering stickers from the chart, laughing cruelly as it hangs off the pad of his thumb. what’s worse, though, is that if she actually breaks a rule, if she genuinely misbehaves enough to warrant a permanent removal of a sticker instead of a playful one, touya is also authorized to punish her in whatever way he sees fit, so long as he notifies natsuo of it beforehand.

touya’ll still mess around with the chart even when he isn’t babysitting, when he’s just hanging around the mansion, randomly peeling off stickers for no logical reason and affixing them to his cheekbones, his nails, his wrists, his nose, and his temples. this pisses reader off, too, because it makes a mockery of the whole system, the whole situation; all of hers and Daddy’s hard work, but Daddy finds it downright hilarious—and although she’d never admit it aloud, touya can be kind of amusing when he’s so high he acts silly, she guesses.

shouto, on the other hand, will take reader out and buy her tons of really pretty, really sparkly, really expensive stickers to use for the chart, because a pretty princess deserves equally pretty stickers, don’t you think? in addition to this, shouto is more likely to allow her to get away with things without the cost of a sticker; what Daddy doesn’t know wont hurt him and maybe we just won’t tell Daddy about this, yeah? it can be our little secret <3 natsuo almost always finds out, of course, but shouto always takes the full blame and responsibility for her, even if it wasn’t his fault, and that always gets her out of a punishment + losing a sticker. because even though natsuo knows it’s all fucking bullshit, shouto is strategic with everything, shouto knows where all the cameras in the house are, shouto knows just how to angle his body to block them, shouto knows they don’t record sound—and shouto knows natsuo can’t say a goddamn thing about any of it, because they’d both never lie to his niisan and her Daddy, right? <3

shouto is also most likely to give her extra stickers just for fun, though natsuo removes these on the times when he notices. and yet, no matter how many times natsuo lectures shouto for such pampering behaviour and scolds shouto for his extreme negligence—because, really, how is she supposed to learn discipline and good behaviour if you continue to reward her for nothing?—shouto never ceases this conduct, maintaining his actions with that sweet little smirk on his lips and a coy little wink.

because, really, shouto loves being reader’s favourite niichan <3

bmb dabi:

bmb!dabi absolutely keeps up with readers behaviour/chore chart in an effort to aid her in keeping some semblance of stability, normality and routine, in her life, both while tomura is suffering through his acute episode as well as after he’s been committed to the hospital. he begins to take it more seriously after tomura goes away for treatment; at the beginning dabi felt like it was more of a chore for him to keep up with it, but still begrudgingly did it for reader’s sake. but this feeling quickly fades the further tomura falls into his episode and the further in love dabi falls with the reader. as such, by the time tomura is committed, dabi actually enjoys maintaining the chart and definitely continues on with it because it seems to help reader a lot; she seems to be more motivated, calm, and understanding when the chart is involved. dabi is authorized to make a few changes, after confirming them with Daddy, adding a few mental health check-in type rows for all three of them, to keep communication between himself, reader, and tomura as open as possible. in this way, the chart acts as a buffer; it’s easier to express your feelings when you get to start by adding a happy face or a sad face sticker to your row, and it enables them all to hold each other accountable.

furthermore, dabi is definitely less strict and more lenient with it than tomura is and, as tomura continues to get better and begins delegating chart protocols from within the hospital, he is definitely reprimanded by his boss for being so susceptible to reader’s sweet pouts and soft looks and precious apologies. it’s playful in a way, though, and tomura is sure to tell reader to enjoy it while it lasts, because once he’s out, they all know he won’t be nearly as merciful—with either of them <3

im doing some work and had some thots about BMB!Tomura. how smart is he? like, we know that dabi is secretly smart (or at least hiding how smart he is). and reader is going to uni im assuming full-time. but where does tomura lay? he's inheriting his father's business, but do we know what field he's mostly in? what books he likes to read (if he does read)? or is he still a gamer? 🤔 sorry these thoughts just came out of nowhere and won't leave me alone. big loves and have a good dayyy 👋🏾🥰

how smart is he?

he’s very smart—he’s too smart, he has an overactive brain that he likes to dull with drugs, or else he’ll think himself into an absolute spiral (which is beginning to happen anyway, as you’ve seen. obviously drugs wouldn’t be the right remedy to an overactive brain, but he’s impatient, and he’s busy, and they work fast). but he’s genuinely smart; i’d say he’s more or less on dabi’s level of intelligence as well. they kind of balance each other out, which is why it can either be very difficult to pull a fast one on the other—because they match each other in intelligence—or very easy to deceive the other one—because they match each other in intelligence (and sometimes have similar thinking processes, too! not always though).

what field is he in?

he went to uni to get one of those bullshit business degrees, as most rich boys who are next in line to take over/inherit their family business tend to do. but now, he’s transitioning into the position of CEO. it’s a slow transition between him and his father (his father is half-retired—think the godfather part one when michael’s slowly beginning to take over the family business from vito). at the moment, all major decisions concerning the company (the drugs they’re manufacturing, the distributors they’re working with, the humans they’re experimenting on, etc etc) go through the both of them. tomura’s basically CEO in training, right now. the new york trip was meant to serve as his first BIG step without daddy holding his hand—he’s been on smaller business trips before of course, often in his father’s place, but they never averaged more than a night until bmb part two. the business in new york pertained to all sectors of the company with a heavy focus on distribution. his father babies him quite a bit tho (as AFO does for tomura in canon bnha) and genuinely cares very much for his son 🥺 you’ll see more of this in part four (yay!). i’ll be going more in-depth into the company itself in the book ofc!!!

what books does he like to read?

HAHAHAHA i see him as someone who reads a lot of roman à clef books; you know, books that have something to SAY about society. and he’s pretentious as hell about it, too. (as we know, dabi LOVES golden age sci-fi novels, so,,,,)

is he still a gamer?

YES. HE IS. and he will fucking fight you if you try to tell him video games are ‘a waste of time’ or that ‘they aren’t art’. he’ll play anything and everything under the sun and is always vying for something new to try out. it’s a good distraction for his head (and a much better alternative to drugs, too). he’s also super competitive about it, and a total completionist, a fact he takes major pride in. dabi thinks he’s a fucking hypocrite for teasing him about his reading material when tomura’s literally head over heels in love with video games.

EHEHEHE omg one of my favourite things about this iteration of tomura is like, he’s Daddy, but he’s only Daddy because he’s a fucking brat who always gets exactly what he wants when he wants it and always, always, always needs to be the boss, be in control, be in power. it’s a very interesting and fun dynamic to explore, especially when comparing him to bmb!tomura, who is also Daddy but in such a different way: their caretaking desires, methods, triggers, etc both manifest in completely different ways, and i love it so much. i had a blast coming up with new ways for this version of tomura to be a more subtle Daddy type who is still very inexperienced and playful yet so clearly has that AUTHORITY streak running through him. it’s a super intriguing paradox to explore!!

HAHAHAHA OH MY GOSH SNOWFLAKE i am SO GLAD you picked up on the carpet!!!!! the vibes of this entire piece are definitely very 80s and 90s, because those are my all-time favourite decades and i feel like tomura in general fits so well there <3 like he feels like a 90s kid hahaha <3 but also!!! the town featured in this piece was based wholly off of my own hometown, so it’s extra special <3 but aaah i’m so giddy you picked up on the carpet hehehehe
