Album Review: D_Drive - Dynamotive (Marshall Records)
If this is your first experience of D_Drive, then be ready to have your socks blown off.
Japanese instrumentalists D_Drive have a brand-new album called ‘Dynamotive’. The record, set to be released via Marshall Records on August 26th is the culmination of many years work for the band.
A clever, interesting and wholly unique style of music, D_Drive can be simply summed up as instrumental rock. Yet, such simple words can’t convey in the slightest, the amount of fascinating touches…
so ayasa (that ayasa! the one who voices Rui in bandori!!) formed an all-stars rock/metal band with heavy metal guitarist Yuki (D_Drive), drummer MIZUKI (Lonesome_Blue), ex-predia idol member (and main vocalist) Akane Minato, and left-handed 5-string bassist Wakazaemon*... 😭😭😭
akane's voice here is soo good. i was really into predia when passpo was still around but never imagined one of the members would end up in a band like this! i love ayasa and yuki's violin/guitar duet solo here too <3
*i know nothing about waka but apparently she just played at wacken along with marty friedman?

"Connect to exist†trace #2" re-united the 'Travelling Performers of the Moonlit Night': exist†trace, The Heana Cat and D_Drive!
Some believe Mozart would be writing rap today ...
… (if he were still around, obvs) and they’re hopelessly wrong. Thumbs Up, the latest single from instrumental tech-metal band D_Drive, is just the kind of thing he’d be doing.
Playful, inventive and bursting with energy, it sees the band revel in the pure delight of complexity, intricacy (and what modern day Emperor Joseph II’s will probably consider too many notes)... it’s Cosi Fan-Tastic!
Shifting moods from an almost-hoedown two-step intro through top-down freeway-cruising rock to classically-tinged proggy passages and crunching metal riffing, it affords the ‘proper quartet’ involvement of all members, featuring the fluid bass of Toshi and Chiiko’s on-point drumming as much as the insane, grin-inducing twin guitars of Seiji and Yuki
Unless you’re a bit of a Salieri, this is guaranteed to blow the buckles off your shoes and make you lose your periwig in the bass bins. Thumbs Up all round!
