What of an angst CypherxOmen pairing because ya know that omen is just the angsty-iest. Is thst a word. Anyway just something sweet with cypher and omen to share with my friend to try to bribe them into the fandom tbh.
The song I ended up writing based off of is Arcade by Duncan Lawrence (link to youtube) I would recommend listening along as you read :))
(I also want it known that I found this song because of Eurovision when it came out, and not from tiktok... idk someone told me that I have the same taste as tiktok and I feel like I have to argue against that point every time now. It's irrational but it annoys me LOL)
~500 words. Angsty, dark thoughts, it's CypherxOmen as requested :))
It’s been a decade of pain, memories, nightmares, and loneliness. He’s been chasing after the answers to his old questions of where they were, if he could find them, if he could do anything to change the past. And after all his work, all he was left with was a broken heart. He’s tried fixing the cracks, many times, but eventually, he just realized that he was missing pieces. Pieces that would never be found again, especially when scattered by the guilt he felt any time he remembered them.
He thought he knew himself – the old bastard that has tasted more bitter than sweet. The rat that clawed his way up to find the light, only to be washed away with the storm. His mind has been filled with nothing but thoughts of revenge fueled by the dedication one can only achieve from having lost everyone they thought they could ever care about. His mind was set. But recently, more and more, his own mind felt foreign. Instead of that bleak silence and desolation, it was filling up again with thoughts about more than just his past and the path to what he thought would bring him peace – justice.
Omen’s hand covered his, bandages scraping across his glove. There was no warmth to be found, but no chill either… for both.
Cypher’s heart rate sped up. “I… I’m addicted to the pain of the past, Omen. There is no love here for you.”
He’s afraid. Cypher’s afraid of his feelings, of his guilt, and of all he is at this point in time: a lonely, old man who can’t let go of the past. Carry him home, carry him to the finish line – to a world where he could finally rest. He couldn’t hurt another person again. He was just… tired.
Omen felt what he assumed was pain, unable to truly understand the complex emotions of care and compassion that he had been stripped of, left with nothing but who he himself was – a shadow. Perhaps it’s just a shadow of true love and care, but in this moment, trying to hold onto Cypher who was slipping through his fingers like the shadows he surrounded himself with, he knows that it’s real to him.
As real as the one true fact about their… relationship.
Omen was playing a game in trying to win. But now that he saw past the wall, past the camera, into the very eye of the wielder, he was met with the end. He knew how this would end before he could even convince Cypher to start with him. That didn’t matter though because Omen knew that he would carry on. He would keep going and pushing for more from this man.
He’s fighting a losing battle – addicted to the need to keep going.
Every human has something they’ll keep going for, despite all they say and all they do. Omen needed to know what had happened to him, he needed to know who he was, and he needed Cypher to keep getting sucked in – drawn towards Omen like a moth to a fire because he had already fallen and was now playing a game – one that he could never win.
They would stay here, fighting the certainty of their end, but as long as they stayed together, neither would complain.
