Now that Fire Emblem Heroes has opened it's yearly Choose Your Legends voting period.... I am kindly asking you to consider sparing a vote (or two!) to two of my favorites in the series: F!Robin and Sigurd!
Why?
Well let's start with Robin,
Tumblr media
Robin fans won out last year when their Male counterpart won the male division of CYL 7 alongside Soren and I'm sure many F!Robin fans (myself included) helped him reach that victory by voting, just as we did in previous years with Chrom and A!Tiki. F!Robin has waited for her time to shine and has supported her competition for several years now. It's time for her to receive the Awakening vote love!
If that wasn't enough to sway you, let's look at F!Robin's legacy in FEH.
1. Her base version was a year 1 grail unit with a mediocre (affectionate) refine that takes max investment to work around
2. Her summer alt is a year one seasonal with a bad weapon and book 1 era stats (but she sure is cute!)
3. Her legendary alt isn't even her- it's Grima. Grima took away her chance at being a legendary unit
4. Her Halloween alt is another Grima alt. She didn't even get to participate in Halloween because Grima took the spot :(
5. Her Valentine's alt is adorable but still a seasonal locked unit
6. Her rearmed version is yet another Grima.
HALF of all F!Robin's in FEH are Grima alts. There is no F!Robin available to summon in the normal 4/5 star pool. Getting a brave alt would be a big deal for her and her fans.
Please, spare a vote to the best tactician around, F!Robin!
~
Now, let's talk about Sigurd
Tumblr media
Sigurd comes from FE4, Genealogy of the Holy War, a game I know many of you may not have played yet. That's okay though! I get it! It's a bit old and jank to play and you need to emulate it with a translation patch if you don't understand Japanese. So I'm gonna explain who this man is to you....
Sigurd is the heir to house Chalphy and a descent of the crusader Baldr in Judgral, which makes him kind of a big deal. Throughout his game, he makes allies with many people throughout Judgral in an attempt to unify and fight back against the rising corruption.
Along his journey, he meets Deirdre and the two fall in love and end up having a son together, Seliph. Sigurd is devoted to his family and loves Deirdre more than anything in the world. Sigurd is a family man. Look at this Cipher art if you need more explanation:
Tumblr media
(*SPOILERS ahead for FE4, but FEH and Engage already spoiled this so if you somehow don't know what happens to Sigurd, maybe stop reading here*)
Tragedy befalls the couple not long after their son is born... Deirdre is kidnapped and her memories are wiped clean as she is needed for a sinister plot... Her holy blood is needed to help the Loptous cult resurrect their dark God so they use Deirdre as a pawn and marry her off to Arvis.
Sigurd is distraught with his wife gone and searches and searches for her but ultimately must continue through on his plans. He returns to his home and is met by Arvis, the Duke of Velthomer, and the descendant of the imperial family. He welcomes them in as a deceitful trick and declares Sigurd a traitor and calls for his execution. Before he issues the order, Arvis lets Sigurd meet his new wife- Deirdre as a sick and twisted punishment. With that, Arvis calls down Valflame and kills Sigurd and many of his army members.
Sigurd's legacy is carried by his son, Seliph, who will free Judgral from the horrors that the dark cult inflicted many years later.
~
So that was heavy. But do you understand why he's such a compelling character??? He has such an unfortunate heroes tale, but FEH let's us see him again and be able to reunite him with his love and his son.
Seliph got his own brave alt two years ago in CYL 6 and it feels right for it to be his father's time to step up and shine as a brave hero.
Let's look at Sigurd's legacy in FEH:
1. His base version is a year 1 sword cavalier who's a bit outdated but not unusable by any means with proper skill investment
2. His duo dancer alt is Deirdre is one of the best arts in the game and I won't let anyone convince me otherwise
3. His Legendary alt was a meta threat at one point in time and the art is gorgeous
4. Lastly, this year he got his second seasonal alt, a tea time Butler alt that just cute. He definitely is serving tea for Deirdre and making sure she's happy.
A brave alt just seems perfectly fitting for him at this point!
~
In conclusion, these are two characters who are ready for their moment to shine in FEH with a brave alt. They've waited for their friends or family members to get there first and now it's (potentially) their time for the brave win. Thank you for reading all this and may the CYL odds be in our favor!
TLDR: Vote for F!Robin and Sigurd in CYL 8!

You know what gets me?
When it comes to Edelgard, I just think that she’s both directly violent (meaning the planned assassinations, kidnappings, conspiracy, coups, assistance in human experimentation, and incitement of warfare that she did) as well as incredibly indirectly violent.
Saying to a political or military enemy whom you decided to attack first,  “surrender exactly to my terms or else you will suffer more violence” is in and of itself, violent.
That’s what separates her from just being an “action oriented lord” like others in the series. Ike retaliated against Daein because he was hired to. Hector retaliated against Nergal’s forces because they attacked Lycia and Eliwood first. Ephraim, Chrom, Sigurd, and Alm sought to fight off invasion of their countries/end pre-existing conflicts. Leif was fighting against a cult and corrupt warlords in order to retake his home and save children. Rhea herself even, never incites conflict (bullshit about assassins in Three Hopes aside cuz half of that game doesn’t line up with Three Houses at all), because all of her enemies attacked first.
Edelgard, meanwhile, incites violence and continues to be violent by telling her enemies “surrender exactly to my terms or die.” She doesn’t let Judith flee. Seteth, Flayn, and Claude only live on Byleth’s terms. She tells the king of another country “you’re the one prolonging the war by fighting back.”
That is fucking violent. That’s what makes her the same as Ashnard, Zephiel, Arvis, and Walhart. Agree to their terms or be swept aside.
And the only reasons why people are so adamant to not accept that is because the way she’s written 1) has her use pretty, philosophical language so as to convince the player to think she actually knows what she’s talking about and 2) player pandering, to the point where she borders on being infantilized in her own damn game (don’t you see how CUTE she is??? she just wants to eat candy and paint pictures all day!).
Not helping this fact is that any indication of her violent nature, particularly in CF, is subtextual. It’s not like Conquest where that game deliberately makes sure to show the player that Corrin is, in fact, doing bad things and that there’s no turning back because she’s made a choice and has to see it through for the peace she’s seeking. It’s not like Micaiah in Radiant Dawn where she’s been actively forced to commit atrocities for a cause she doesn’t believe in only so she can guarantee the safety of her people.
No, Edelgard made the choice to inflict violence upon people who have done nothing to her or her loved ones, all because of her preconceived and incorrect notions regarding Fodlan’s history. And continued to inflict violence by forcing people to choose between “surrender to my terms” or “be struck down.”
No amount of “Crests bad” or “Church/Rhea creepy” or “I want to change teh world!!!” is gonna change these facts.

dear lord I am sorry to hushpost so insufferably much but hi I have big crazy about the wizards again:
Fraser, who is nice to you, at least a bit obsessed with the Chris-Teresa thing, and per his description seems to be a very different person outside vs at home, is a Ramsund speaker. I guess in the Cultsim universe there are a few more occult or forgotten languages than we have, and the Ramsund stone is an incomprehensible occult somethingorother -- but then you have to have learned the language to engage with it, right, and what is "it"?
Not quite a runestone in our world but a carving on a stone, retelling part of the Sigurd epic, the part where he cooks Fafnir's heart for his foster father to eat, but it's raw, so he burns himself checking it and learns the language of the birds from tasting dragon blood on his finger.
The birds tell Sigurd that his foster father, also the guy who made his magic sword, Regin, Fafnir's brother, is dangerous to him and won't reconcile with him (as promised re: slaying Fafnir), so Sigurd kills Regin.
In this History I suppose the untranslated inscription was the basis for Ramsund the language, like, this was a cult of Vikings in this history -- and that's cool, and all, but it has horrific implications.
What's the Norse concept of fate like? Cyclic, stringlike, nothing you can do about it, you get allotted your wyrd and you gotta watch the patterns fall in place etc, we've all done enough English literature to know about wyrd, right? If we haven't, Tolkien has, and we can rely on him. :)
IMAGINE: you are just some very unfatherly young occultist and you learn the language of this stone because you hope to glean some Worm-Lore some Lore of the Scale some Lore Draconic etcetera, some stuff you can use to do your Worm behaviours necessary for your enrichment (try to overthrow the Hours).
You decode this stone about Sigurd and never think about it or about the wyrd of it all (because you are some guy who is a wizard and not actually a committed scholar of Scandinavian studies or a superstitious individual). You adopt and gloriously fuck up a son who, to spite you, through the metaphorical blood of your awful relationship, becomes conversant with the metaphorical Birds, and then follows the same trajectory as Sigurd, minus the murder but plus the stealing from you.
You come to Hush House to talk to a very weird Librarian about some new thing the King is doing, and she (because she pre-read your son's diary and kind of hates you, not that either of you give any evidence of knowing that) sidetracks you into tutoring her in Ramsund.
You get into talking about what it is. She interrupts and asks you if you've noticed that it has any sort of a metaphysical, terrible hold on you. You say no. But then you realize that actually yes, looking at that benighted rock when you were nineteen or whatever permanently altered your destiny and you can now map its convolutions to some really heterodox Norsemen's take on a hero myth. You have to think about your choices in life. You are very glad that you own a distillery. You resolve to never think about it again, but you have been sucked into or perhaps were born as part of a convolution of the Histories, and now you have to be very aware of that.
And the Librarian, who knows way too much about it, is just like "hee hee :) so about current events then", nornfully and not helpfully at all, because you have to face your destiny Fraser you have to be a man (according to the manhood concept of the Norse ghosts haunting you, apparently) and your destiny is yet to be seen but I cannot imagine it is any good at all actually. Also the birds themselves wrote the stone!!!! The avian hours! They are Mocking You!

Ideas for stories and such...
I'm a bit overwhelmed with plot bunnies right now, and I think writing them all out is the best way to get 'em all straight. So... here are a few ideas for future fics I'd want to write. I dunno which one(s) I should focus on first...
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
A Saga Most Ordinary : I have ideas for two more chapters, one about Eivor playing Dungeons and Dragons with the three Good Boys, along with Hytham, Randvi and Tewdwr, and another about her and Valka Staging An Intervention because she thinks Sigurd went and joined some cult because of his new girlfriend (ie Fulke).
Untitled/maybe it’ll just be chapter two of an existing fic, I dunno: A new companion piece/sequel of sorts to ‘Nornir's Curse, Nótt's Counsel’ about Randvi and Valdis just hanging out (on the beach while their respective spouses watch over the young ‘uns) and talking about their (rather similar, really) lives.
Dishonored
Take Your Silver Spoon (Dig Your Grave) : A two-shot about two bastard-born princesses of the Kaldwin line. Part of it is already written, I just need to get off my ass and do something about it lol
You and Me and The Leviathan Makes Three : An AU where Daud survives the events of DoTO, and Billie is stuck trying to find new purpose in her life while teaching a god-turned-boy how to Human and a suicidal old man how to… not be a total wreck of a person . Oh, and the Abbey of the Everyman is falling apart all around them (which makes the Boysider happy, since his two newfound biggest goals in life are 1) to destroy organized religion and 2) to save the whales. Every chapter would be set in a different isle, with titles based on sea shanties.
Dracula
Untitled : A little one-shot about how Drac might have gotten to Mina on the night of October 3rd. Because the details are kinda hazy on that, right?
Final Fantasy XVI
The Tale of the Telamonides : Before the mission to Drake’s Head, Mid shows up to the Hideout to Bring Chaos and Shenanigans to everyone’s live. Because I was sad that we never did see her interact with Cid.
Gravity Falls
Dungeons and Dummies : …I need to finish this you guys, I already have it all planned out. I feel weirdly anxious about this story, mostly because I don’t happen to have the whole of the rules of D&D stamped in my brain (shocking, I know). It’s like I’m afraid I’ll have someone go, ‘hey, that’s not how it goes in the Player Handbook, page so-and-so blah blah blah ’ so I don’t even try, you know?? It’s a weird thing.
The Awesome Mixtape of the Apocalypse: A story where Dipper and Mabel’s parents join both sets of twins on a roadtrip to Gravity Falls. The concept would be that Mabel made a mixtape with songs for everyone in her family (so for example Ford definitely gets weird prog rock like this, listen my dad was a happier, most well-adjusted Ford, and that was his shit, car trips in my family were trippy), with each character represented by a particular musical style (the Pines mom’s got punk ska like Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto lol…) and each chapter corresponding to one song. I got every big story beat and character moment planned out, I just… need to get off my ass and write, I guess.
Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West
Untitled : Aka Aloy watches Varl and Zo together, gets confused/frustrated, and shares a convo with Erend that helps her figure out she’s asexual. Sweet!
Untitled Rost and Ersa fic : Rost and Ersa, as ghosts, hang around Aloy and Erend for the events of the first game (and have a mini ship war about the merits of Ereloy as a couple). Also known as ‘Rost Gets Another Grumpy Daughter Because These Are Sure Fun To Collect Or Something’.
Mass Effect
Untitled : Just a little Shakarian ficlet about Shepard listening to Thane’s story about how he met his wife after the events in Garrus’ loyalty mission and her being like, oh, oh boy, oh no.
Radiant Historia
Will You Learn to Love (Without Consuming): A little one-shot set in the Apocrypha ‘verse which is not compliant with the canon shown in Perfect Chronology. Basically my take on who became the big Mana Monster causing the desertification (and why he’s a foil to both Heiss and the Conuts Guy).
Déjà Vécu : A one-short about Ernst and Heinrich (and, by association, Stocke and Heiss) because I guess that’s what I always write about in this damn fandom.
This Sweet Corrupting Reality : Basically the only parallel history I would have liked to see in Perfect Chronology, that is, Stocke wakes up and realizes he is now King Ernst of Granorg.

Just curious tho…
What are your top 10 favourite characters from FE Echoes? It can either be from Alm or Celica’s party. But both can be acceptable.
Ooooh, that one will be fun. I’m hoping my list doesn’t go over the limit, but we’ll see.
So in no particular order:
Alm. Love his story, love his quest, love his STRUGGLES. He’s honestly probably my favorite FE “Noble” overall (and Dimitri is a close second) just for how compelling his arc is. His fight against his father Rudolf and his agony broke my heart. This kid has been through too much ;w;
Saber. We all know why. I kind of hate that I fell in love with him but I couldn’t help myself.
Luthier. Between him and Delthea, I ALWAYS used him, and shockingly he makes an incredible Dreadfighter. But also he’s an enjoyable character with his own flaws that make it hard for him to make friends. Also he’s a very beautiful man, lol. That fiery hair is pretty.
Berkut. Yes, he’s the villain but DAMN I think he’s one of the few villains in FEH who actually has a decent character besides “I am a cult leader therefore I am evil” or “I am a fallen god of some sort therefore I am evil”. Berkut has PERSONALITY! He has DIMENSION! He has an ARC! And a TRAGIC END! And honestly I want an Ascended Berkut in the vein of Legendary Sigurd/Deirdre where he’s a spirit, looking for his empire.
Rinea. I know she doesn’t do much but goodness, she’s such a sweetheart and shows that Rigelians aren’t all antagonistic assholes. Poor baby ;w;
Deen. I found him cooler than Sonya (sorry Sonya fans, I do like her a lot too) and he’s handsome. I’m weak for scars.
Jesse. He’s a flirt and a party boy, but I love his conversation with Celica where he reveals he ran away from his noble family because of the pressure. I really do think he’s kind of a prototype Sylvain and I hope he and Sylvain have a serious convo when he gets in FEH.
Leon. Talking about his character first and foremost, I love that he’s got a bit of a ‘tude, but he’s not unnecessarily mean or bitter to anyone. He sees the beauty of love in the world and I love that THAT is what he fights for when in his line against Duma. And I’ve said it before, but I think hands down he’s FE’s best LGBT rep.
Atlas. It’s a bit random, but I enjoyed his character being a simple woodcutter, but DAMN this man is capable of putting up a good fight. And he reminds me of Papa Nier with his appearance.
AUGH OK I HAVE TO MASH THESE TWO TOGETHER BECAUSE I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT THEM BUT: PYTHON AND FORSYTHE. Love those guys, even if Python couldn’t shoot for absolute shit in my run. Forsythe is a sweetheart who believes in doing genuine good, and even if he’s lazy, I love that Python is so loyal to his best friend that he’ll always follow him.
I think that’s pretty much it, I do want to give a shout-out to Celica, Sonya, and Fernand because I think those guys are cool, too.

(apologies for potentially double-posting)
any headcanons pertaining to the first gen trio and the way they parent their sons?
Tumblr media
Alright, I finally got this done... because I did all the first gen parents! Surprise!
Siggy/Dee - Deirdre, having grown up in the woods, ended up opting for a very natural parenting style. Organic and home grown foods, minimal/reused plastic, lots of outdoor time, etc. Sigurd makes enough money for that kind of lifestyle, though Deirdre knows how to do it on a budget. She's not extreme about it, though. Sigurd's introduced her to lots of cool things she didn't have growing up (like video games that aren't hand me downs from people at church). With his encouragement, she's also working on her degree at the local college. Not sure what she's going for, but probably something Earth Science related. Deirdre tries to schedule her classes while Seliph is at school, but when she can't, she has Oifey babysit him.
Quan/Ethlyn - Quan is very into good grades, so both Leif and Altena are in tutoring and private school. They're also both in sports as soon as they're old enough. Altena is really good at soccer, and by goodness does Quan make sure to brag about it to Travant. Ethlyn isn't very happy about this. Travant's a widower, he doesn't need someone bullying him! Quan just needs to let this stupid rivalry go. Plus, Altena seems to be friends with Arion! Quan shouldn't ruin that!
Eldie/Granhye - Very classy parents. I mean, it's Eldigan and Granhye. Ares began music lessons at a very young age, just like his father. These paid off, though not in the way anyone expected. Ares ended up being into punk and metal music rather than classical. Instead of getting mad, Eldigan and Granhye decided to embrace it (granted Ares keeps his grades and behevior good). His electric bass is his favorite present ever. He nicknamed it Missiletainn.
Midir/Edain - Edain found out early on that she really liked to read books to her kids. She ended up volunteering at the local library to read more books, and that's how the little Tirnanog friend group came to be. She and Midir take turns staying at home since neither of them have a standard monday-friday schedule. They make sure to spend a lot of time together when they're both off. Family board game nights are a regular occurence in their house.
Lex/Ayra - The sporty parents. As soon as Larcei and Schatach were old enough they enrolled them in soccer. Then came martial arts, swimming, you name it. The kids' diet probably consists of Issachian home cooking, granola bars, and gatorade. Shannan has stepped in multiple times to babysit or get the kids to practice. He's the super cool older cousin, after all!
Azelle/Tailtiu - Super nerdy parents. I'm talking DND and cosplay type nerdy. Tine was born premature, so they spent a lot of time in the hospital. The nurses absolutely adored Arthur. They were all so happy when he started to walk and say his first words. Hilda, however, was jealous of all the attention Tailitu and Tine got when they finally came home.
Finn/Lachesis - I think your headcanons about Finn and Lachesis being Malewife and Girlboss are pretty spot on. Lachesis has some sort of high ranking office job, while Finn stays at home. Diarmuid sometimes spends time with Beowulf (his bio dad), but lives with Finn and Lach. Beo's very chill about the entire thing and even gives Nanna gifts for her birthday and christmas. (Slightly off topic, but in an AU where all the games exist at the same time, I can see Finn being really good friends with Dedue since they're so similar. I mean, their leiges are even both voiced by Chris Hackney!)
Alec/Sylvia - I actually headcanon Lene and Coirpre to have different fathers in canon, as Coirpre was young enough to get the attention of the cult and that wouldn't be possible if Coirpre was born pre-Belhalla (though he does have severe baby face). Anyways, since this is a modern au with no cults or political scheming (hopefully), I'll go with them both being Alec's kid. Neither Alec nor Sylvia ended up with a high paying job, so money was tight. Then Alec got a job under Hannibal. He became close to the family and agreed to become the children's godfather. He likes to spoil the kids since he could never have any kids of his own. I'm thinking of Uncle Drosselmeyer from the Nutcracker from some reason. Speaking of Ballet, Lene's lessons are free since Sylvia works at the studio. Coirpre… well I'll be honest, I don't know what he'd be doing.
Lewyn/Erinys - Not a day goes by where these two can't figure out how Ced ended up being a straight a student. Erinys was a good student, but she wasn't super into it. And Lewyn… well, Lewyn is Lewyn. Fee ended up more free-spirited and laid back like her dad, though to a more responsible degree. She credits this to having her dad's love for life mixed with her mom's responsibility.
Jamke/Brigid - Somewhere inbetween Ayra/Lex and Edain/Midir on the parenting style spectrum. Patty ended up really enjoying gymnastics, so they kept her enrolled in it. She also took up magic tricks, including (to Jamke and Brigid's dismay) lock picking. Super cool cousin Dew totally didn't teach her that. Febail took up archery like his father.

Spitballing a Fire Emblem Jugdral mod for a Paradox Grand Strategy game + Some Alt History Ideas
This idea originally started off as thinking about a Europa Universalis 4 mod since that's the only paradox game I've played, but thinking about it later, Crusader Kings is almost certainly a better choice. I just don't know the mechanics as well so what follows is mostly alt history ideas with some EU4 mechanics that I think exist in some capacity in CK. The primary religion of most of Jugdral would be something resembling either the way different Islamic Schools work in EU4, or like Hinduism with every nation being locked into choosing patron Deities representing the founding Dragon of that country. Cult of Loptyr would exist in a few scattered provinces.
Grannvale would probably be something resembling the HRE, with Belhalla as The Emperor. Their heir dies at war with Isaach, and a regency council is implemented for Belhalla given Azmur is too sick to rule. This council would comprise of Reptor, Lombard, Arvis, Ring, Byron, Claud.
Chalphy would have a unique mission tree and events to subjugate surrounding territories and incorporate them into the Empire's territory, and Sigurd would be heir for the earlygame, with insane general stats. Event would fire giving him Consort Deidre of unknown Dynasty. Verdane probably has razing mechanics so Horde-esque government. Agustria probably has Eastern tech or some kind of boost to cav to infantry ratio. Artillery probably get represented by Mages depending on tech group and Archers (which are worse) are what you get if you don't have the right tech.
If Sigurd succeeds in subjugating Agustria, a event will fire with most members of Grannvale declaring a coalition war on Chalphy, Silesse will ally Chalphy but be having a pretender war rebel problem that has to be sorted out first.
Winning that war triggers the event where Arvis assassinates Sigurd and Revokes the Privilegia. Gen 2 then follows as you'd expect with state religion being changed to Cult of Loptyr for the Empire, and this leading to a revolution with Seliph at the head of it.
But, more interesting than this is the potential for alt history. What if Sigurd dies early?
Well, presumably, Grannvale descends into a Civil War. If Veltholmer comes out on top, the same broad plot will unfold, Arvis will just have to finish the subjugation missions himself before Gen 2 can fire.
If another Grannvale Duke wins, then we'll assume Julius has been born already and Manfroy takes him away. Manfroy can then start his own revolution with Julius at the head, and Julius himself would not be Literally Just Loptyr at this point, so he'd take a similar role to Seliph. There might be some kind of event chain that could be used to delay him falling to Loptyr possession, because it could get pretty interesting if he hasn't consolidated power yet but changes state religion to the Cult, you could get another internal conflict, possibly between him and Julia (religious league war).

i think the best fire emblem game names are the jugdral ones, i.e. Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War and Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. let’s break this down.
1. Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War
this one rules firstly because it’s really long and weird. in a series with game names that evoke fantasy tropes and magic (like “blazing blade” and “shadow dragon” and “sacred stones”, or even something like “path of radiance,” or “mystery of the emblem,” which could be a nancy drew novel title), this game name easily stands out the most in the list. like okay, fantasy, fantasy, mystery, magic, artefacts...Genealogy. you know what i associate genealogy with?? my mom looking at ancestry dot com for fun and trying to collate our family history a few years back. i do NOT associate it with magic boys with swords and tragedy and pseudo-medieval political machinations. too bad that’s what you get!
secondly? it’s fully accurate. i mean i know game names are usually relevant to their games (because otherwise whats the fuckin point) but like. “shadow dragon and the blade of light” specifically calls out 1 character (the shadow dragon) and 1 magic artifact (the blade of light). three houses is about 3 houses but you only pick one of them and the only relevance it has to the story is “you pick between 3 groups” and “there are 3 groups in the game that fight each other.” big deal. that’s also true of, like, arguments i have with my family over what game we want to play at thanksgiving.
genealogy of the holy war? you cannot escape the fact that this game is a genealogy of a holy war. 100% of the game is dedicated to being a genealogy of a holy war. (if you’re not familiar: the first half of the game follows a dude named Sigurd as he gets embroiled in political conspiracy as a scapegoat by an evil cult that’s manipulating the government. the second half follows his son (and the kids of all his friends from the first generation) some ~20 years later as they go and fight the evil cult that’s now fully taken over the government.) you wield weapons blessed by your gods and use them to defeat a cult that wields dark magic and a weapon blessed by their (evil) god. this war is really fuckin holy. and hey two generations (AND the pairings in the first generation alter the stats of kids in the second) where it matters who your parents are - thats a genealogy baby! we did it! that’s the name of the game! and it’s Everywhere.
2. Fire Emblem: Thracia 776
what the fuck. what the fuck is this. “thracia”?? that isn’t a real word. all the other fire emblem titles are real words. why is 776 there?? is it seven hundred seventy six?? is it 7:76, the worst time of the day?? is it like 7.76?? it’s the fifth game in the series!! not the 776th one!! no other fire emblem games have numbers in the titles!! what the fuck is going on!?!?

Anyways why don't you tell the class about Lumen. Educate your audience on my son
God okay I said I was going to so I will - but first thing's first
HE'S MY SON, YOU CANNOT HAVE HIM BUT YOU CAN LOOK AT HIM AND ADMIRE HIM
Okay that said I'm gonna do a read more because this will be a very very long rambly post otherwise
So! This: Is Lumen. Let me give ya'll some art of him.
Tumblr media
(Art credit to coffeerelated on twitter!)
He is, at the time of writing this, an 11th level Wild Magic Sorcerer in the campaign I play in, which we call VTDM, short for "Ven's the DM." He hails from a small little town in our homebrew world of Annwn, and the town is named Dushill. A small town nobody with a big heart, care for the people he's around, and, as it stands now, very accidental hero.
I say accidental hero, because he ultimately was just. Nobody, before this. Before ending up in this campaign to fight against a Cult of Orcus. He was just a small town nobody, coming from being relatively poor, who still did his absolute best to help everyone. He set out on an adventure one day, with his one best friend, to try and make some extra money to help make ends meet. Needless to say, that went just about terribly, and he ended up being the only one to survive.
So where does that leave him now? Traumatized, for sure. Being a lone survivor sucks. But underneath that? He's got purpose. A cause, in fighting against the Cult that took everything from him. He's got a boyfriend in the campaign, too, Sigurd - an ex-cultist who he chose to place his full trust and support in. A lot happened since then, and that is a whole nother post aside from this one. This campaign has a lot of context and that's what happens when you're over 100 sessions deep. And like 3 years.
He also has friends and confidants - people he'd die for if he had to. He's loyal, he is devoted, and he cares. He fights by stunning anyone who gets too close to those he loves and cares about, and he does so ruthlessly, even using his powers of Wild Magic to twist fate. The power still scares him, but he's grown confident enough to wield it freely.
There's a lot more I could say but - I'll leave it to asks and whatnot if anyone's interested because oh my god there's a lot to his story and I cannot cover it all in one post (I wanna go back to playing BG3) so here ya go

Finally did Sigurd's paralogue, and uh. I see why my coworker was so blindsided when i talked about fe4. Yeah, Sigurd, your wife was taken and twisted by a cult to use her to resurrect an evil god. They also did A Lot More Than That, buddy. And how tf did you entrust any lessons to your son he was a literal baby when you died dude, if anything you entrusted it to Oifey.
Side note i used his map to farm gold with Anna's skill (luck% to get 500 gold on kill) (finally realized she has the growths of a healer despite starting as a fighter) and killed Sigurd with Leif's skill only after he watched his illusary army decimated by one Child Soldier (which is kinda devastating on its own given he was against them and his son is the one with the teenage army...)
Sigurd, halfway through telling his life story to Alear, watching their face fall listening to kidnapped wife, cult stuff, evil god, and abruptly realizing that he doesn't want to crush their spirit when they have their own war to fight and also they're desperate enough to bring in child soldiers, and thinking yeah Lumera would definitely rather I lie to them than make them lose hope, and he abruptly finishes out his life story with "and then I definitely lived long enough that my son could grow up to remember me and learn lessons from me" and Alear's like "yay :) I'm glad some things worked out :)" and Sigurd's like "yes if you keep fighting and keep hope even through the worst, everything will work out and you will not die in the flames of despair and agony and also literal flames" and Alear is like "yay :)" and then as soon as he's back in the ring, Sigurd just curls up into the fetal position.

OC Emoji Asks ! 💧 DROPLET - random angst headcanon
Razvra, Sigurd's mentee and eventual husband, is a relatively long-lived elf who loved horses and wanted to retire from mercenary work to raise and train horses.
His horse died from the Godsickness that began to plague the land, getting stuck in a black pool (a sick-swamp) while Sigurd saved Razvra.
Sigurd went back to save its skull as a personal keepsake, to keep a piece of Razvra close when they have to be apart, without Razvra's knowing.
Various cults sprung up to worship Sigrud as the Godkiller in various eras.
While Sigurd is largely divorced from these cults, the latest one uses the symbol of a horse's skull.
Thanks !!

A lot of those novels have spanking (of varying kinds) in them, btw...
Below a cut bc I'd rather not have this like out in the open on people's dashes haha
Brackish is mostly about spanking kink between Basil (Christian) and Cassidy. It's also the story that - aside from the prologue - I've written from scratch the most. Basil does go into his childhood spankings a bit, bc they even prompted him to run away as a kid. He hated them and has a rough relationship with his parents. He's the dom and I WROTE THIS BEFORE 50 SHADES DO NOT @ ME ABOUT "CHRISTIAN" HE GOES BY BASIL ANYHOW, and besides his name wasn't Edward first :P Geckos, Automata deals with a lot of themes of abuse, and there is one spanking that happens "on screen" but otherwise they're in the background. A background theme is that abuse fucks you up... it even makes some people try to end the world. None in Teacup. The Hostile Credence is not your medieval typical fantasy, but it does have the normalization of beating your kids. Though many characters are against it/do not get raised that way. It's all off-screen though, mostly just mentioned or implied. The Dragons' Cosmos... Roscoe's dad is heavily patterned after my own. Absolutely unhinged, and child abuse in many forms. But it's only implied/happens off-screen. Before our Ghosts is fucked up. Bertrand has a spanking kink, but it's hard for him to do anything about his fantasies since his childhood was so traumatic. He thinks this part of him is "broken and dirty" :( Adversary further goes into this... this is one I'm so afraid people will not understand, so I tend to be scared to go into it. But it deals with two kids who discover they're spankos when they're young. They're physically punished in a very fucked up and religious cult. (Parents are even permitted to kill their children without punishment, bc "the kid must have deserved it" is the assumption.) A lot of people report that when they were young, they'd look up the word "spanking" in the dictionary (I DID THAT) and search for books with spanking scenes (I also did this). I wanted to translate that experience bc... I hate spanking IRL outside of consensual adult kink, and Adversary is meant to drive home what it's like for it to cause childhood trauma. But I fear I might find pitchforks at my door instead if it ever finds the wrong crowd. I've already been told that children are the ones who are fucked up if they get off on spanking. Which makes Adversary so necessary of a story to tell... Rascal does touch on similar topics, but it mostly focuses on Hazel being comfortable as a spanko with Ferdinand as his dom. It's mainly meant to be sexy and cute. A counterspell, if you will, to the darker stories. (It does have a bit of angst in the main story, though.)
Stargazers' Hill has some threats and an off-screen whipping (that was originally on-screen, but I preferred to switch it over to another POV), but like other stories, it was mostly part of the background of such a rough childhood. :( Serrated Petals is... well, unhealthy dubcon/noncon stuff that has some spanking between the three men
Outside of the spanking erotica I've written, my short standalone stories don't have any spanking.
The Will of the Whispering does mention child abuse, but the main character, Lester, is breaking a cycle as he raises his children. So it's more about his own childhood and what he's definitely not doing to his babies. Good for him for trying his best? :) Planetary Boundaries has mention of Trace and Andy having abusive parents, but both are in new situations almost immediately at the start of PB. There is mention of abuse/neglect with Sigurd's background, but "we can't be bothered to supply these wards of the state with food on a really distant planet more than once a year" is more of a government-related issue.
In the Pleasure Seekers series, Xavier is an asexual Incubus who ends up finding disciplinary (nonsexual) benefits in being spanked by his boyfriend. Zach mentions getting punished by his grandfather sometimes and hating him for it, but it's mostly just about Zach spanking his partner...s... (They are poly later, no spoilers!) Where the Lanterns Glow is like many of my stories, where spanking is a background thing? Spanking is actually unheard of outside of witching communities, and Nolwen's father slipped a couple of times even within those witching communities bc he felt pressured when Nolwen acted out. (Later, he finds out why his son acted out and feels like a monster.) Nolwen and Evander have some spanking kink they experiment with, and this all started bc I liked the idea of potion spoons getting used in kink... Magic swinging swatters, anyone? They're adorable. Evander is the one who gets spanked, mostly, but Nolwen is sometimes curious what it's like, so they switch. Rarely, but they do.
So yeahhh anyway. Sorry for the ramble if you read that hahahaha
