100 Year War 2 - Dating Edition!

So another fate au, this time one ive joint worked on with @k1ng0fn00ts called 100 Years War 2: Dating Edition!

Set in modern times in a world with magjc, it follows primarily Mordred in a magic International School, with stuff varying from basic slice of life to angst. Of the Pendragon fam, there is:

Artoria, Mordy's previously single dad who works as the CEO of a MagiTech company, having previously worked at a security company after leaving the military.

Irisviel, Arty's wife and Mordred's step-mom, meating them when Arty's company was hired whilst she and Kiritsugu were still together, before his death.

Morgan and Arthur as Arty's older and younger siblings respectively. Whilst old family stuff meant all three weren't close, other stuff helped them grow close together again.

Saber (artoria alter), Arty's much younger half-sister, who's more of an older cousin to Mordred than an aunt. Works as a vet.

Illyasviel, Mordred's younger step-sis and a sassy 10 year old.

Shirou, step-brother who was adopted after one of Kiri's jobs.

Merlin, the adoptive parent of Saber after their dad passed away shortly after their birth, and alongside Da Vinci built up the MagiTech company and took the pendragons under their wing.

Ari and Ami (Aria and Ameli, based on Lion King and Storm King), biological twins of Merlin and an older sister to Saber

Kairi - family friend, met Arty dhring their military service. Gets away with lots because Iri falls for his sad boy act. Crimes include giving Mordy a tank.

Then there's other characters. Of them there is:

The d'arc twins, Jeanne and AJ, and their younger sister Lily. AJ is a big rival to Mordy and, looking identical to Jeanne, causes confusion for Mordy when he meets the more mild mannered twin. This little confusion ends up being the start to their eventual relationship. Lily is just a lil pissshit.

Gudako and Gudao, twins. MtF and FtM. Gudako is a rival to Gudako, however when this rivalry ends up spiraling, AJ eventually opens up to her, sparking an odd friendship that eventually goes further.

Cu Chullain, good friends with Mordy and an eventual wingman as he tries to ask out Jeanne.

Frankie, Jeanne's friend, and has non-speaking autism, and wears silencing headphones to help stop overstimulation. Ends up becoming friendly with Mordy after he shows he knows sign-language.

Astolfo, a band kid (tuber) and somehow friends with everyone - no one knows where he's from (Quebec). Also has "The Tea" on everyone, so finds Mordy and Jeanne's mutual crushing hilarious.

Lancelot, Guinevere and Mash - family friends of the Pendragons. Mash is friends with the Gudak twins.

Nightingale - school nurse, Saber's long time crush (joined Med school just to impress her)

Shakespeare - english and drama teacher, secretly dug tunnels underneath the school do he could get to both classrooms quickly.

Jack - foster kid in the younger years, friends with Lily.

Sieg and Siegfried - brothers, Siegfried is in college.

Iskandar - same year as Mordy and folks, kept back one year.

Waver - nerd friends with Sieg, both play DnD. Besties with Iskandar.

Achilles and Atalante are part of the volleyball team, Chiron is their coach.

Admittedly I got lazy with the lotto. I don’t know how someone got to 1000 boxes. I got to 51 and got so dam sick of farming. So I leveled these 3 to max, and decided to just progress in LB5. Eresh and Ishtar are gonna wait unless I decide to farm for embers.

At least my QP is back in the 100mil+ again. When Nightingale’s rerun happens I’ll farm some more.

The way you mentioned how Ushi Gozen personally chose to be younger to get as far away from her older self as possible made me somewhat confused about her lines. Where it comes off is that she's not completely aware of Raikou or that she simply comes across as a younger version of Raikou in her lines, like her crying by herself.

So I am wondering if she's gaslighting herself so hard that she's younger? Or is this a side effect of the action in the first place or just the fact that Raikou feels this all the time but is suppressed thanks to Kintoki?

A Servant with a younger body is a Servant with a younger mind.

See Ko-Gil knows Gilgamesh's whole life and can't respect any of that because he still has the personality and opinions Gil had as a boy.

See how Alexander knows everything Iskandar did but doesn't feel like he experienced any of that.

See how Medea Lily knows what Jason did but feels no ill will towards him because at that age she's still under the full effect of Aphrodite's curse.

See how Setanta still feels like he still needs to prove himself while Cu Chulainn feels like he already did it in life.

Ushi Gozen knows well how Kintoki healed Raikou, so to commit to being the Avenger who never forgets her issues and never recovers, she chooses to the body (and mind) without the experience of meeting him.

[I really don’t know why i do these but i’ve racked up 50, somehow. I was considering doing some special revisit or whatever but I ended up just doing the only Apocrypha servant left that I think only needs 1 rank up, since i really do need to stop getting sidetracked from my impromptu “all of Apoc gang” thing and it lets me still have number 50 be its own post. We can just say it's my official catalyst for the only Argonaut I still need now that I have Asclepius.]

SO WITH THAT OUT OF THE WAY

Chiron rank up! Make him all about that Mind's Eye with a bread and butter skill! Sometimes the best thing for gameplay is to spread it all out over their kit. Other times, I find it much more fun to have that one skill everything revolves around. That's what this would be. Originally I was going to reduce the cooldown from 8/7/6 to 7/6/5, make the gather down 2 turns instead of 3, and make the cooldown recovery 1 turn for both of your other allies, but then I ended up deciding instead to make it more targeted so that I could add several effects for if Chiron fulfills his role as a mentor of heroes, IE the selected target is a servant who qualifies for that list of somewhat archetypical mythological heroes.

Flavor wise, it's a simple matter of Chiron using his divine wisdom to both defend himself (Mind's Eye True) and to employ a much more powerful version of the Coaching skill (WHY OUT OF ALL THE MENTOR SERVANTS IS THE ONLY ONE WITH A DEDICATED MENTOR SKILL MAID ALTER?!?!) and reduce an ally's cooldowns sharply while also lowering Chiron's normally quite high star gather to nothing so his allies can more easily crit (which also internally synergizes well with his AOE crit up and star bomb second skill) and using his medical knowledge to increase the effectiveness of all healing received by allies, though he's reliant on said allies to actually provide the healing. Taking is a step further, Chiron cannot use his cooldown reduction on himself unless he is solo, and if the servant to receive his mentoring is an actual mythological hero just like the ones he trained, then Chiron's own legend is amplified and he gains several more effects. He shields his allies (apply target focus), is more in his comfort zone teaching them (reduce own cooldowns by 1), and fulfills his divine duty as a mentor of heroes thereby strengthen the constellation he became as a reward for his service to said heroes (NP strength up).

Balancing wise it also gets pretty crazy. Out of all freaking EIGHT of these effects, less than half of them would scale with level, and one of them is Healing Up on a servant with no healing skills so really it's more like two and a half. In exchange, those remaining skills would scale IMMENSELY high, and the reduced cooldown on its own is partially worth leveling for given the potential uptime on the skills and the increased frequency of the non-scaling utility effects. The defense buff would go from a 20% max to a maximum of 35%, the potential NP Strength buff would be a maximum of 50%, and the at its best the HP Recovery Up would be a whopping 100%, effectively turning it into something that means under ideal conditions as long as Chiron is on the field all healing the team receives is doubled. The defense buff in particular is of note because it means that not only does the evade synergize well with the potential target focus, but it also means even against (the nowadays VERY frequent) Ignore Invincible, Chiron would still be able to properly tank hits for allies. The NP Strength up is a one time buff and Chiron generally lacks any personal stims, meaning even if Chiron can get good refund you'll be using that for the utility more than damage the second time. It's still high enough however that between Chiron's damage rank up and supereffective against Earth bonuses, that first NP can easily deal meaningful damage

(PS: do let me know if you think another servant should be included in the "Prophesized Hero" category and if so why; I based this list on people who fulfil the idea of the archetypical "Hero's journey")

As unregulated time persisted in this city, a sense of disappointment burrowed into the Servant's chest — despite never stepping foot in the city, there were a sense of nostalgia to be here, a longing to restore. Against the bridge railing, Lily observed the river beneath, following its natural course, running a fraction of her thoughts.

What broke up the sombre stillness upon the banks blazed red like no other flame — racing at speed, carrying a signal famed and encouraging. Ritsuka! Then perhaps it was meant to be she whom the Servant located in order to depart the city; the Master had been here once, witnessed for herself the desolation. But no chance were there for hope — her rush was no excitement from spying a glimmer of gold upon the bridge, but for survival.

Emerald grew wide at the recognition of a Servant in hot pursuit of the mage — and of all them, it solidified her theory. The Cu Chulainn of Singularity F had been the remarkable ally against the tainted king, summoned as a Caster. but here... a polearm rested in his hands, blazing threatening scarlet. Here, now, he was no companion.

Lily scaled the railing, perching herself on its outer edge with brief calculation for the trajectory — a rough estimation was the best she could work it, given the urgency beneath.

"Master!" Fingers unravelled from steel and the knight leaped forth, tightening her form to hasten the descent. With her powers completely sealed, it were possible that miscalculation could break her body on impact if the sturdiness of a Servant had forsaken her — but it was worth the risk. Ritsuka always took the chance.

Caliburn came down upon the Servant's spear, shaving sparks from their respective metals. And though it disturbed his pursuit, he had the advantage of grounding. With a downward thrust, his weapon retracted the force grinding against the sword, which jolted earthward, and ruptured any airborne balance produced by his resistance. A gasp fell from the realisation of her amateurish mistake, something she could not rectify before the Lancer's leg slammed into her hip and flung her into the water.
