I have the same internal conflict about my interest in him!!
God, yesterday I found someone else to talk about Bro Strider with and I got so excited because I barley have anyone who would willingly talk about Bro with me besides one person (bless them). And you maybe heh.
So I was going on and on about him, how they were relieved to find someone to talk as well, talking about your fic and the asks, etc etc
And I just caught myself in how I was acting as if I was talking to my first crush. Freaking mortifying man, Bro Strider should not make me this happy. Literally makes my mood 10x better and I think that’s kinda weird. But I also really like talking about this guy so… sigh. He takes up most of my thoughts these days.
Well anyway, can’t wait for part 2!! I love personal thoughts as much as I like textual facts, maybe even more so.
omg isn't that the best??? it took like. well some effort, and years ago now, but i managed to collect like five/six people i trust more than anything with all the crazy, unhinged shit i have to say about bro, all the time. i love them all SO much for what they put up with, and each of them is so goddamn talented in their own right, which makes it even more special!!!
i think that is part of the reason why i have not left homestuck since i came back in 2016, because i carved out this little niche for myself
it's really important to find fandom space that lets you be yourself, and talk about the things you like, and all that stuff.
also embarrassed you were talking about my silly fic o lfijse;ilfwe;oifw but it is also such an honor
i like talking to you!!! it's really awesome, dude, and i don't mind answering asks and stuff!! i really like it, actually! it kinda feels like no one ever actually wants to talk to me about bro (can't imagine why) so it's really fun lol
ALSO he makes me so happy too but i also love to say silly things like, "man i could just swing him around by the ankles all day long" like it is a complicated relationship! it's also fun hahahaha
(one day we will all see part 2 and you can be embarrassed for me because if i post it i'm not sure i'll remember how)

You tried not to feel guilty about what you were doing with a married man. Your best friend’s dad. It was hard when it came to keeping it a secret from everyone. Keeping it a secret from Fae.
“Where’d you get this?” Fae brushed her fingers over the pretty little bracelet Mr. Styles gave you a few nights before. It was gold with three round light-colored opals in the center and two round-cut tiny diamonds on either side. It was dainty and sweet and you knew it was expensive after googling the brand and finding the exact item available online and in high-end shops nearby.
“Ahh… my mom and dad got it for me a while ago. Just haven’t worn it in a long time. Forgot it about,” you lied with a shrug. Lying to her made you nauseous.
“Really? How could you forget about this? It’s gorgeous! Looks really pretty on you too,” she complimented and you frowned as you looked down at it.
You hated lying to your best friend. But what could you do? You certainly wouldn’t admit to your affair with her father. And of course, you weren’t quite feeling guilty enough to put an end to it either. Mr. Styles was the best you’d ever had and you were completely smitten with him.
When you two finally made it back to your apartment after shopping and eating and stopping at the ice cream shop for a treat you’d also forgotten all the lovely flowers you had sitting around your living room and kitchen.
It had also become a thing where you’d get the most exquisite bouquets delivered to you every Monday morning. Peonies, roses, phalaenopsis orchids, and gardenias all stuffed with hardly any filler. You knew the bouquets he was sending you were hundreds of dollars a pop. But they were breathtaking.
You quickly assessed in your mind whether or not you’d removed the cards from them which would have given everything away should Fae see. Unlocking your door and letting yourself in first you quickly glanced around and the freshest bouquet clearly still had its card poking out of it. You made a beeline across the room as Fae closed your door behind her and plucked the tiny card out, crumpling it in your hand, and then bent down next to the table to pretend you were doing something else.
“Those are so pretty, Y/n. Oh my god. Do you have a flower service or something?”
You had three bouquets placed around your living room. One was clearly old and some of the flowers were drooping, losing their vibrant colors, while the newer ones were full of soft pinks and purples, crisp white and cream…
“Yes. I decided to start treating myself to nice flowers every week.” You smiled. Another lie. You couldn’t afford a weekly delivery of these kinds of flowers and if Fae bothered to research how expensive bouquets like this were she’d have questioned you further. But luckily she didn’t.
The bracelet, the flowers, your glow… all things she noticed, could have been an indicator of a lover but as far as you could tell she hadn’t connected the dots. Or at least she didn’t voice it to you.
Of course, everything could be explained. But she was your best friend. If you weren’t more vigilant, she’d be catching on soon, you were sure.
.           .           .
The following day after a morning shift at the restaurant you arrived home and collapsed on your couch. It was exhausting. The restaurant was only open for breakfast and brunch on the weekend (where normally it’s only a dinner spot the rest of the week) and it was slammed. Mimosas, eggs benedict, fancy French tarts, and pastries, huge parties of people, music, guests nursing hangovers… The restaurant was well known for its weekend breakfast and brunch with bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marys. The clientele were usually upper-class folks who didn’t mind spending $35 for their mimosa and then only ordering 2 when they could have had as many as they wanted. A local creamery provided butter, yogurt, and milk for your special breakfast dishes, and a bowl of fancy yogurt and some in-house granola was $15. The cheapest food item on the breakfast menu. The cheapest item on the menu was a cup of black coffee, refillable. Unless you ordered the free tap water.
You got lucky to eat anything while you served breakfast. It was typically too busy to take a bite of anything. But the tips were excellent because everyone was usually in a great mood.
You were startled awake by your phone vibrating in your back pocket. You’d fallen asleep without even realizing you’d closed your eyes.
Pulling the phone out from under your body you realized it was Harry calling you (he normally didn’t call unless it was prearranged).
“Hello?” You sat up as you answered.
“Baby! I was worried. Are you okay? I didn’t hear back from you.”
Harry had a thing where he wanted you to text him when you got home from work to let him know you made it safely, even if it was a morning shift. He was always so worried about you but you kind of loved it.
“I’m fine. Sorry! I fell asleep as soon as I sat down on the couch. God, I’m so exhausted. Fae was here late last night and then I had the breakfast shift so I only had like four hours of sleep…”
“Hey, it’s okay. I was just worried. I texted you and then never heard back. Just started to panic. Have you eaten?”
You smiled and his soft deep voice made you feel so comfortable and safe, “I haven’t eaten yet. I had a bit at work but just passed out as soon as I got here.”
“So you’ve only had something to eat at work? It’s already dinnertime, Y/n.”
Harry did have a tendency to sort of scold you like he was your dad. Maybe it was ingrained in him in some ways. To try and take care of you and remind you to do things like eat.
“Geez, Dad. I’ll get right on it,” you teased.
Harry was silent for a moment, which had you worried. Perhaps calling him ‘dad’ had been unwise.
But then suddenly his voice broke through the line, “I’m coming over. I have a feeling you don’t have any groceries and I’m gonna make you dinner. Something to eat.”
You scoffed, “I mean… I have food here. I will eat. You don’t have–“
“I’ll be there within an hour,” he interrupted and you nodded to yourself.
“O… Okay. Um… yeah. In an hour.”
.           .           .
You quickly showered and tossed your dirty clothes into your clothes hamper so they weren’t strewn about your bedroom floor. You tidied up and kept yourself busy until he finally arrived. You were getting all worked up knowing he was coming over.
You didn’t know what he had been telling Mrs. Styles about why he was leaving or when he’d stay with you overnight, or spend hours in your bed every week. Though there were times he could only come over quickly, most of the time he stayed with you long enough that he’d need a good cover story. You kind of hoped you could have him for the night.
When he knocked at your door and you opened it up for him you saw he had his hands full. One arm around a sack of groceries and in his other hand the bag he normally packed for when he was staying the night.
You smiled when you saw his handsome face and ushered him into your small apartment. He leaned in to kiss you quickly, “Just showered?” He asked.
“Well yeah,” you spoke as you closed the door and followed behind him to your kitchen, “I didn’t have the chance earlier because I fell asleep as you know,” you laughed.
“Mmhmm…” he grunted affirmatively as he began to remove the grocery items from the bag one by one.
You saw tomatoes, fresh basil, flour, mushrooms, cheese…
“What are you making?” You picked up the container of buffalo mozzarella and then looked at Harry.
“Margherita pizza. One of my favorite little recipes my mom used to make.”
You placed the container down, pulled his arm to drag him toward you, and stood on your tiptoes to kiss him.
He immediately paused what he was doing and wrapped his arms around you, deepening the kiss and then giving you a taste of his tongue.
But then he pulled away with his signature teasing smirk and went back to his task.
“You brought your bag. Gonna stay the night with me?”
He nodded as he folded the paper bag up neatly and then looked at you, “If that’s okay. Have to leave early, though.”
If that’s okay.
You laughed to yourself and nodded, “Of course, it’s okay, Harry. God, what I wouldn’t give to have you with me every–“ You stopped what you saying when you realized how suddenly serious that thought was. You did want him every night. You wanted him to yourself but you hadn’t discussed that with him before.
Harry placed the neatly folded paper bag down on your little counter and then pulled you back toward him with his hands on your hips, “Yeah? Every…? What? Every night? Want me every night, baby?” That same sneaky, devious smirk on his face had you melting and warm.
“I just meant, you’re always welcome,” you slid your hands up his chest and bit your lip. You were a little embarrassed that you admitted that but it was obviously too late now.
“I’m always welcome or you want me every night? Which is it?” He gripped you harder so you couldn’t escape his questions, his gaze.
You puffed a breath out through your lips with a laugh, “Both.”
He loosened his grip and brought a hand to your face, his eyes fixed to yours, “Both. I’d much prefer to be here with you every night too. Would if I could.” The thumb that trailed over your cheekbone and to your temple was soft and loving. You knew he meant what he said.
Harry’s pizza was superb. Your oven wasn’t quite right, he kept saying as he baked it but to you, it was the best thing that had ever come out of that cheap appliance.
“Usually like to make this in a brick oven. The one I’ve got in my backyard, but this will do in a pinch I suppose.”
Your mouth was full as you nodded, “So good.”
Harry laughed at your stuffed cheeks and the way you were gobbling down what he’d made.
“Aren’t you going to eat more?” You asked him finally when you’d swallowed your bite. He’d only had one slice.
“Already had dinner. But I wanted to feed you. Make sure you’re taking care of yourself.”
For some reason with a tummy full of Harry’s pizza and the kind gesture of his cooking to help take care of you had you reeling and needing more than just food.
Of course, it would have been impolite to just abandon cleanup but you were suddenly aware of how his sleeves were pushed up his forearms and how his dimples were extra deep accompanying his attractive smile. And his hair looked too tidy, you needed to get your hands in it. Needed to get him out of his clothes. Get those long fingers around your neck and touching your body immediately.
You set your plate down on the small kitchen table you were both sitting at and slid your hand up his thigh, “Oh is that why you came over here? The only reason?” You grinned and he leaned back into his chair and looked at you, keeping his own grin in check.
“Need to make sure my girl is healthy. Has everything she needs.”
“Yeah? And sometimes I need more than just food too, Mr. Styles.”
Harry crossed his arms over his chest and spread his legs slightly as you continued moving your hand upward, “Oh I know, sweet girl. You need a lot of things, don’t you?”
You nodded, “What about you? Do you need things too? From me? Anything I can help you with?”
Now his grin was breaking out over his face but it was cheeky, playful, “Of course I do.”
But he wasn’t giving in to your little game. He liked having you be the one to ask for it. You didn’t know why but he loved hearing you beg him. You always resisted begging. At first anyway. Sometimes he’d give in without you needing to.
“And what do you need from me?” You stopped short of putting your fingers over where you knew he was tucked under his pants. The obvious natural bulge he sported giving away where he normally liked to position himself.
“Whatever you’re willing to give me, love. But I’m here because you needed to eat first and foremost. And you needed some groceries.”
You laughed and skipped over his lovely cock and put your hand up to his chest, scooting your chair in a little closer, “I’ll give you anything you want, sir. All you have to do is ask.”
Harry smiled and licked his lips slowly, “I’m as content as I can be here with you right now. Could sit here all night listening to you talk. S’that what you want? Want to touch my chest,” he flitted his eyes down to where your hand was before looking back into your eyes, “and my thighs, and chat all night about my pizza making skills and your lack of healthy food?”
You folded your lips into your mouth to keep yourself from laughing. He was playing a game of chicken with you. You really wanted to win this time.
“Well, that does sound really nice. You’ve filled me up so good with your yummy pizza. Guess I don’t need anything more than stimulating conversation with you if that’s all you’re interested in.”
Harry swallowed and breathed a laugh out of his nose, “Fine. Pizza and conversation it is.”
You wanted to huff in frustration. He still had his arms crossed over his chest, just under where your fingers were toying with the buttons on his shirt. He wasn’t giving in. But you had a thought.
“I’ll be right back.”
You hopped up from the chair and pranced to your bedroom. If he wanted to tease so would you. Stripping off your sweats you dug out your thin white Hey Lover t-shirt and tied it up just under the center of your breasts, and black cheeky boy short panties. You’d pretend you were only getting comfy since it was already late in the evening. He’d know what you were up to but you could play it off like you just wanted to get into your comfy house clothes.
When you got back to the kitchen Harry was already cleaning up.
“Hey, let’s do that later. Wanna sit and talk a bit.”
Harry tsked you, his back still turned as he wrapped up the rest of the pizza in foil, “I worked hard on this. Don’t want it to go bad. You can go sit–“ when he finally turned his full gaze back to you he stopped mid-sentence. You saw his jaw clench and his nostrils flair.
Not fair. That was not fair of you.
You knew your top especially was going to drive him mad. It was thin and your nipples were poking through the material and he could certainly see the shadow of the deeper color of your areolas popping through.
And he did. You noted where his eyes roamed, pausing over your tits for a good few seconds before licking his lips and turning back around to finish his job.
“Go sit.” He said without a single note of sweetness or desire.
You smiled to yourself as you walked into the living room and sat on your couch. Putting on a little music you selected a good little playlist that you knew he’d like.
Trying to act as unbothered as you possibly could you found a comfortable position on the couch and leaned into your cushions as you waited for Mr. Styles to join you.
It wasn’t long before he was casually strolling into the living room and sitting on the couch, leaving a few feet between you two. He draped an ankle over his knee and sat back, looking totally cool and unbothered.
You stretched and gathered your hair into your hands to expose your neck as you spoke, “So, how was your day today, Mr. Styles? You already know all about mine.”
Harry nodded slowly as he looked at you, keeping his eyes on your face, “Normal. Woke up and worked out, read an article, and played some golf with a colleague. That’s it really. Now here I am feeding you and entertaining you with conversation,” he grinned and you saw his eyes quickly take in your neck.
You smiled and sighed, “Sounds nice. I’ve played golf a few times. I’m terrible at it, though. Once a guy who took me tried to straighten out my stance but it did no good. No matter how many times he helped me adjust my grip or pushed my legs to spread them out properly it just didn’t work,” you chuckled. It was true. You’d gone with a guy a couple of years back on a date. He was flirting with you when he tried showing you the proper way to stand and hold the club but it turned into making out in the golf cart and a quick fuck in his car before he dropped you at home.
“S’that so? He probably wasn’t a good player either if he couldn’t give you any tips to help you improve your game.”
You shrugged, “I don’t know. I think he was more interested in getting my clothes off than anything,” you kept your eyes on his to asses but there was nothing there that indicated jealousy.
You had to amp it up. Do something to make him lose it. Wanted to watch him thicken up in his pants.
Dropping your hair you tucked your legs under yourself and turned to face Harry. You knew he was trying his hardest not to let his eyes drop below your neck. He knew he’d be fucked if he took in the way the soft cotton stretched over your breasts.
“Anyway. Are you any good?” You allowed your own eyes to take him in fully. His composure was sure to falter at some point.
“Yeah. I’m all right. I can hold my own.”
His short answer was not exactly what you were hoping for but you didn’t let it deter you. For some reason, his standoffish behavior was getting you even more worked up.
“Bet you can hold your own. You’re just so naturally good at everything you do,” you moved your finger over your tummy, keeping your eyes on his, “I know first-hand.”
Harry raised his brows and the movement of your hand over your torso and then down toward the top of your panties had him dropping his sight to where you were softly ghosting your fingers along the elastic band. You tugged at the knot on your shirt before moving your hand back up toward your chest, your thumb pressed between your thin cotton t-shirt-covered tits.
He watched your fingers and then looked back up at you, “Do you? And what do you know of my skills?” He smiled softly. Still appearing totally unbothered.
You sighed and tilted your head, keeping your eyes on his before stretching your arms over your head and allowing your shirt to lift the tiniest bit, revealing the bottom of your breasts. You only put your arms down once you were satisfied that Mr. Styles had gotten a good look, “Well, for example, you just made me a pizza that was to die for. Also, you recently got promoted at work and now you’re some big shot,” you unfolded a leg from underneath your bum and stretched it out, pressing your bare foot onto Harry’s thigh, “And I’ve seen you work out,” you nudged his muscled thigh, “You put men half your age to shame. You’re so athletic…” you began to pull your foot away but Harry gripped your ankle and pulled your leg to drape over his thigh making you smile in triumph.  Though you’d not yet won this round, he was clearly giving in to you bit by bit.
“Hmmm…” Harry nodded and hummed quietly. He kept his hand on your shin and his eyes a safe distance from anything below your chin, “I know I’m good at a lot of things. Can make you dribble all over your chin by just pulling my pants down,” he licked his lips, “Feel like that’s a great skill of mine. What else…” his hand began to brush over your leg softly and you scoffed at him but of course, he was right. You both knew it. He made you drool and whiney and hot. He didn’t even have to do anything.
“That was one time. And you had your fingers in my mouth. It wasn’t because of your cock,” you lied. Well, his fingers in your mouth did have you drool down your chin and when he pulled his pants down, he teasingly pointed out how your chin was shiny and you’d dripped saliva down your neck and to your chest.
“No? Hmmm… but you were so desperate to get it in your mouth that you tried grabbing me and when I told you to be patient you whined and drooled all over the floor. You can pretend all you want, little girl. I see what you’re trying to do.”
You watched as his hand traveled up your leg and past your knee to your thigh, “Wearing this little getup… trying to seduce me. So desperate for me. But you’re gonna have to try a lot harder than this, Y/n. You can lie to yourself and pretend you're not bothered and change the subject and show me your pretty tits all you want. S’not gonna change the fact that you’re gonna wind up a messy little puddle begging me for anything I’ll give you. Isn’t that right?”
Your mouth dropped open in faux shock. He was right. But you weren’t ready to give up yet.
“Whatever you say, Mr. Styles. I know you like having your ego stroked. So go ahead and keep telling yourself that you’ve got the upper hand. We both know you’re already folding. I can sit here all night and chat with you like this if you want. Doesn’t bother me one bit.” You folded your arms across your chest with a grin.
Harry laughed quietly and shook his head. You were fun. He loved these moments with you. Loved giving you a hard time. Loved when you gave him a hard time. He softly pinched the inside of your thigh and you laughed, attempting to pull your leg away but he held you in place, large palms keeping your leg over him, fingers digging into your skin.
“Darling, you forget who you’re dealing with. I’m not the one resorting to skimpy clothes and trying to hide how turned-on I am. I see you trying to keep your legs pressed together. Hiding something,” he jutted his chin toward you and looked over the spot between your legs where he knew your panties covered up a tiny secret.
You wore black panties on purpose. Any wetness would be easier to hide, but keeping your legs pressed together could ensure he didn’t see the wet patch that had begun to spread. However, the way he was holding your leg over his lap made it quite difficult for you to not open your thighs a little.
“You just love to imagine that you’ve got me all bothered. But you’re wrong. I’m totally fine.”
Harry smiled and pulled at your leg further, causing a small yelp to slip out from your mouth followed by a tiny bit of laughter at the way you lost balance when you were pulled toward him, your other leg being tugged at to drape over his thigh.
“Good. Then we can just sit here and talk about the weather and maybe politics if you’re into that. Or is there another topic you had in mind since you’re so keen on just sitting chatting all night?”
You steadied yourself, back against the cushion as you pressed your legs together again and looked up at him innocently, “Randy called me the other day. Said he missed me. Apologized for being rude when we were together. That was nice to hear. The apology,” you wiggled your hips to fix your seating so you could appear more casual, despite having your legs in Harry’s possession over his lap.
Harry’s large palms ran up the outer sides of your thighs slowly before dragging back down to just above your knees, keeping his eyes on yours, “Oh really? Thinking about getting back with him then?” He spoke trying to tamper the playful smile on his face.
You snorted a laugh and grinned teasingly, drawing your fingers across your breasts, “Nahh… I can do better. I mean… maybe if I’m desperate and just need to scratch an itch. You know? Being a single girl gets hard at times. My dildo is only gonna give me a small taste of what a man can. Even if he’s not great in bed.”
Biting the inside of his cheek he nodded with dark eyes, “Would be such a shame to waste a good fuck on Rudy like that when you’ve got me at the helm. Of course, you're too stubborn to admit it. All you have to do is ask.”
You sighed and dropped your hands to your lap with a pout, “Randy. His name is Randy. But anyway… I don’t have to beg Randy to fuck me. He’s never pretended he was unbothered by me. Always quite straightforward really. If he wanted sex all he had to do was tell me. You on the other hand,” you poked your finger into his arm, “like making it hard for me, which is quite impolite. So I’m okay with not having sex if you just aren’t up for it.”
Harry pushed a laugh out through his nose at your tease, “Rudy sounds like a fucking bore. And he never gave you an orgasm. Either you have really bad taste or you’re just a tease. I have a feeling I know which it is, too. Little girl likes to play games. I can play games if you want. But you know I’m gonna win.”
You knew he was right. You wanted his cock but he wasn’t budging. All you had to do was admit it. Ask him politely. And you would when you couldn’t handle it any longer but you were having fun and the back and forth was like foreplay for you.
He kept one hand grasped around the outside of your thigh while his other smoothed inward, fingers pushing your thighs apart the tiniest bit and then gently dancing upward. If he moved his fingers too far up he’d feel how damp you were already.
“I’m not playing games,” you spoke matter-of-factly, watching as his hand traveled over your skin, “I can just tell maybe you’re tired Perhaps you’ve had a long day and it’s almost bedtime for you. I mean I get it,” you laughed in preparation for what you were about to say, “When you get to be your age things just slow down a little. It’s okay if you’re not up for it tonight, sir.”
Harry pulled his lips into his mouth and closed his eyes as he laughed at your attempt to provoke him.
When he looked back at you his expression was serious as he pried your legs apart, swiping the pad of his pointer finger right over the wet material of your panties and raised his brows as if he was shocked. Though you knew he was goading you, “You know goddamn well that my age has nothing to do with my libido. Difference between me and you is that I have incredible willpower and I know that you’re gonna be begging me to stuff your pussy before the night is over.”
You laughed and shook your head, “Nope.”
Harry pressed his thumb right over where your clit was already aching and grinned, “Yep.” Popping the p for emphasis. “See I’ve already got you soaking your panties. Goosebumps on your legs. Your nipples are hard. Your face is warm. I bet your heart is pounding too, just wishing you were getting the life fucked out of you right now. And you could be,” he spoke lowly as he slid a finger under the fabric of your panties and smoothed it over your skin, but not touching your crease or your clit like you hoped, “If you just admit it.”
You noticed that his cock had plumped under his pants. A good sign, you figured, “Nothing to admit. I might be turned on but I can hold out. In fact, I’d bet you’re not in much better shape with your cock swelling up like it is. You need this wet pussy to soothe that big dick, don’t you?”
Harry’s undisturbed body language was a concern because even though his prick was growing harder by the minute, you were starting to boil while he still seemed unphased.
“Oh, honey…” Harry smiled at you like you were a pitiful thing, “I’m doing just fine. In fact, probably just gonna fuck my own fist before we go to bed since you’re so stubborn. Maybe I’ll let you watch me too. I’ll be just fine. Just love being here with you. We don’t always have to have sex.”
You clenched your jaw and huffed imagining that scene. Having Harry yank his cock with his big hand until he was coming on your floor. You’d want to lick it up off the floor too. Scoop it all up and swallow it down. He had you obsessed with his come. Well, with him in general.
You tried to think of something to say but your brain was stuck on the image of him slowly stroking his fat cock and saying filthy shit to you while you tried to hold it together and not give in to your own urges.
“What’s wrong, baby?” Harry lifted a hand to your face and brushed his thumb along your jaw and up over your cheek, “Need to tell me something?”
Your lips parted and you breathed out a small whimper and squished your eyes closed. Your determination was crumbling with his soft touches.
“S’okay. If you don’t mind,” Harry pushed your legs off of him and quickly began to unbutton his pants, “S’getting tight in there…” he pulled his pants down just a touch so that the bulge under his briefs was now poking out and he had a bit more space to breathe.
He pressed over his erection and straightened himself out and suddenly the tip of his cock was peeking out over the band of Calvin Kleins. You closed your eyes again and tried to will yourself to not give in to him. But what was fair was fair. You were teasing him with your body and now he was returning the favor.
When you heard Harry chuckle you opened your eyes to look at him and your head was fuzzy. He was literally mouth-watering. He’d unbuttoned his shirt so you could see his tattoos and the large erection poking out from his briefs was like an actual cherry on top of it all. You licked your lips and swallowed down your saliva as you stared at his swollen head. It looked like something you could just pop into your mouth and suckle on if you weren’t so stubborn.
But Harry loved how stubborn you were. You really did make him work for it. You were exciting and sweet and he loved the way you teased him.
“If you want some you can have some, sweetheart. I know you’d like a taste. S’right there for you if you just ask politely.”
You groaned and looked away from him but your eyes were burning and all you could think about was straddling his lap and pushing his briefs down so you could fuck yourself on him. You were actually vibrating and pulsing you were so turned on.
And when you thought about it all… how this was all just a game anyway. How you both knew you’d end up with his come dribbling out of your cunt and satisfied and fucked out before you went to bed you laughed, “Fuck it…” you said as you crawled yourself over his lap and Harry’s hands found your hips, “I want you. Okay? You win.”
He had a pleased smile on his face when he felt you press your soaked panties over his briefs and plaster your lips over his in finality.
He would have laughed and teased you for giving in but he was thankful you did. Because he was aching for you.
You were desperate too. You pulled away from the kiss and put your hands down to his briefs and pushed at the material before sliding the crotch of your panties to the side and letting your wet hole kiss his tip softly as you looked into his eyes, “Can I please have it?”
Harry’s smirk fell from his face the moment you began to lower yourself, coating him in your slick arousal, “Yes. Take what you want. Fuck…”
The music was soft and you could barely hear the lyrics as you began to work yourself down and up along his length. You moaned as you felt him poke deep and keened, sucking in a sharp breath, “So thick…” you panted.
You were wetting Harry’s briefs and the tops of his pants but he didn’t care in that moment. He’d take care of the issue after you were done, “Yeah? Needed to stuff yourself with my cock didn’t you darling? Feels good?”
You nodded and held onto the back of the couch as Harry moved his hands from your hips up to the bottom hem of your top and pushed the material up so he could finally look at your pretty breasts. His favorite. He leaned in and suckled your tit into your mouth and you gasped softly.
You began to ride him a little faster, sticky slick noises coming from between your bodies as you writhed up and down his cock.
“Harry!” You shouted his name in a desperate plea. You didn’t know what you were pleading for but you just wanted more. His tongue and lips and teeth on your tits and his heavy, hard dick inside of you were really all a girl could ask for.
Harry moaned and licked over the spot he nipped next to your nipple and moved his lips over your soft flesh as he spoke, “Poor thing… so needy for me. Should have just given in the first time I told you to, baby.”
The couch under you squeaked gently as you rose and fell over him. The relief of having him inside of you had you tearing up.
Harry tilted his head back to look at your face. And just as he expected you were completely insatiable. Your expression was hungry and lusty with your lips parted, a pained look across your features.
Harry cooed at you and slid his hands up from your soft breasts to cup your face and make you kiss him. Your mouths moved together slowly as you shifted over him, slowing down a little now that your mouths were connected.
Harry pulled away, keeping his hands at your face, “Slow down a little bit. Here…” he dropped one hand to your hip and stilled you, pushing you down all the way over his shaft until you were firmly seated in his lap and his tip was stuffed so far inside of you it hurt making you whine and quiver.
“Like that. Just sit and feel me. No need to hurry. Gonna always take care of you. Okay?” His lips pressed over yours again and you moaned into his mouth.
You acted as if you were starved. You canted your hips slightly to glide your clit against his pelvic bone and he gasped and pulled away again, “I know you need it, baby. Just slow down. You were so desperate weren’t you?” He thumbed at your cheek and wiped your tears with a grin, “Always my good girl. Aren’t you?”
You bit your lips and whimpered as you nodded. You felt like a pathetic girl. It was like the moment his cock was inside of you all your good sense flew out the window and you were a melty, needy puppy in despair, deprived of attention and love. You needed more and more and more every time he entered you. It only got worse as the months crawled on and your affair got more serious.
“I wanna be your only good girl. Please…” You slid your shaky fingers into his hair and smoothed your lips over his with a tremulous breath.
Harry rocked upward, dipping into your sensitive insides and you gasped again, parting your lips from his.
“Look at me, Y/n…” Harry spoke as he moved a hand to the back of your neck.
You locked eyes with him and your sad little pout had him leaning in to give you a soft kiss at the corner of your mouth before he looked back into your eyes, “You’re my good girl. No one else. Just you, baby. Understood?”
You nodded and sniffled, “But I’m not,” You jutted your bottom lip out like a child and felt ridiculous. You didn’t know what had you so emotional suddenly. Maybe it was the build-up and all the teasing. Or the way you always gave in to him and he was so cool and secure in himself while you were shaky and desperate.
Harry moved a hand down your back and kept his other hand brushing softly over your cheekbone, “Yes you are. You’re mine. You’re my only.”
You didn’t want to say it. Hated to bring it up but you couldn’t help it or you thought you’d explode if you didn’t tell the truth, “But you’re married. I might be yours but you’re not mine.”
He hadn’t quite expected it. You knew the situation. He couldn’t just leave his wife of 20+ years. It didn’t work that way. But to hear you say it was… well it gave him pause.
“Okay. I am married. But I’m here with you right now, Y/n. Because I’d rather be here with you. Wish I could be here every night. And I would if I could.”
You nodded. You knew he’d prefer to fuck you rather than his wife. That part was understood. But he’d never actually choose you over her when it came down to it. “I know. I’m sorry for bringing it up. I just… I’m starting to…” You swallowed the words your heart wanted to reveal but you stopped, “Just want to see you more I think. Once a week or every other week isn’t good for me. Need you more. I think that’ll make me better. I’m sorry… I don’t know –“
Harry shushed you and stroked your back softly, “I want to see you more too, baby. Should we think of a way to make it twice or three times a week even? Will that make it better?”
You smiled and nodded, “Three times a week? Oh my god…” You kissed him and squealed at the idea of having him three times a week.
Harry laughed and nodded, “If it makes you happy. Didn’t know you needed more, honey. Didn’t want to make you sick of me.”
You laughed in return and shook your head, “I could never be sick of you, Harry. I’m…” You stopped yourself once again. The words on the tip of your tongue but that wouldn’t be fair. To you nor to him. “I’m happy you want that too.”
Harry’s fingers on your face felt soft and comforting, “Of course I want that. I want you happy. And that would make me happier too.”
You felt dizzy with love and excitement as you pasted your lips to his and began to rock your hips slowly again.
You knew you were selfish. Knew you were getting in too deep but you didn’t care. Maybe down the road one day it would hurt but for now, you would be happy with anything he gave you.
Suddenly Harry shifted and brought his arm to cradle you close as he laid you down flat on the couch, his thick cock still inside of you. But now he was hovering over you with a dark smile on his face, “I need to fuck you like you’re mine. Show you I mean it,” he said as he pulled your legs up, calves pressed over his shoulders, and began to roll his hips into you. The springs in the couch cushions danced under your back and creaked as he picked up the pace.
You coughed out a moan and squished your exposed tits together. You still had on your shirt, tugged up above your tits, and your underwear, and Harry still had his clothes on, while his shirt was unbuttoned and his pants were down past his bottom. You were both the picture of neediness, not even bothering to take the time to undress fully.
Harry held onto the back of your thighs as he plunged in and pulled back to his tip, before plowing his cock into the hilt again. Every time his hips met the back of your thighs the sticky sound of your arousal on his cock was unmistakable.
He swatted at your thigh when you began to slip from his hold, your leg wobbling free from his shoulder, “Stay put. Keep your legs up,” he grunted.
You gasped and nodded, “Yes, sir…”
Every dip of himself into you felt divine. His cock pushing into your insides and slipping into your guts repeatedly was noisy and delicious.
Harry moaned, unable to hold back how good it felt to be inside of you.
You looked up at him and saw how gone he was. His soft raspberry lips were parted and his eyes were dark as he gasped and panted. His thrusts were becoming harder and sloppier and he was breathing hard. You wanted his come.
“Need it, Harry. Give it to me…” you whispered as you brought a hand up to his jaw and he kept his eyes on you. He was shaking with desire you could feel it.
“Fuck, honey…” he groaned and clenched his jaw. He wanted to make you come first but his own emotions were getting him keyed up and he was already leaking a steady stream of pre-come into your pussy with each stroke.
He stopped his motions and sucked in a sharp breath as he lowered a hand to your clit, “Need you to come first, okay? Then I’m gonna fill your pussy like you need, baby.”
With his thumb on your clit you cooed in ecstasy. You had no idea what you were saying as you felt electricity begin to thrum through your body, winding its way around your ribs and down your spine, and into your tummy where sparks began to turn to fire as he began thrusting into you again.
“Want you to fuck your come deep into my womb. Breed my pussy, sir…” You moaned your words unable to stop it.
Harry grunted and he popped his eyes open to look down at you in shock. He knew you were on birth control and knew it was highly improbable but still, your words had him reeling and feeding his breeding kink, something that had been dormant for many years. You tended to awaken old feelings he once relished in.
And he wasn’t sure if he actually want to get you knocked up but just hearing that fed into something deep and instinctual that had been pushed down. Something primal. You had unleashed a tsunami of emotions and now this?
He began to hammer into you and your legs fell from his shoulders as he fucked himself down into you so hard you saw stars and you gurgled as you came around him, unable to voice your dirty thoughts as your pussy pulsed and squeezed around him.
“Fuck!” Harry barked loudly when he felt you come and he allowed himself to indulge in the fantasy that you’d tapped into, “Gonna knock you up. Fuck you til your all bred and full with my cock and my babies. That what you want? Stuffed full of me in every fucking way?”
Harry throbbed as he finally poured into you, pushing his cock into you as deep as he could manage, balls tucked up against your bum as he whimpered with each tight roll of his hips upward. Imagining his come seeping into you and having it stick. Getting you pregnant. Making you his forever.
He collapsed over you and slid his tongue into your mouth as you brought your arms around his back to keep him close.
Pure hedonistic, rapturous oblivion.
Your heart pounded as he kissed you and you felt him trembling in your arms just as you were in his.
You longed to speak the words you knew you felt but it wasn’t right. You’d want him to say it first. Wanted him to admit it. Wanted him to want you.
But Harry was feeling it all heavy and deeply just the same. His own longing to show you exactly what he felt and that even though he’d play off those words he spoke as he came inside of you, he meant it in a way. He’d love to see you pregnant with his babies. Have you as his own for good. Tell you what he felt deep down.
You smiled into the kiss and Harry pushed himself up to look down at you.
“Just what I needed, Harry. Always know how to make me feel so so good.” You pushed your fingers into his hair and gazed into his pretty eyes and watched as his grin widened.
“Mmm… Ditto. Need you more than just once a week, baby. I did mean that you know.”
You bit your lip and closed your eyes to let that idea sink in a bit. Harry grunted as he moved and you suddenly felt a pinch at the back of your thigh and you laughed, opening your eyes.
“Did you hear me?”
You nodded, “Yes, sir. Three times a week is what you said. That sounds like as close to perfection as I could ask for.”
Harry nudged his nose to yours and let out a soft breath, “Just want more of you, baby.”

Silence Isn't Quiet Anymore
Azriel x Reader
Summary: Azriel finally understands.
Warnings: None
Word Count: 892 (short but so good?)
Notes: This might be one of the most interesting concepts I've ever written. I'm obsessed.
_________________________________________
Azriel finally understands.
He’d caught a Suriel once. It hadn’t been anything more difficult than, say, crossing a river, which Suriels cannot do. He’d tracked it for an hour, two, the wind whistling through the trees as his only companion. His shadows had cowered away from the creature that belonged to something other. Another life, perhaps one before even the first of the fae or humans or animals that inhabit the continent found their way here. Before plants had taken root and clouds poured rain from the skies and the sun and the moon had been together, not forced apart by day and night.
There wasn’t a trap to be laid. A crossing of rivers had done enough.
The creature's tattered robe pulled from its bony body as a gust of wind brushed through the woods, sending shivers up his spine. He could’ve turned away right then. Should’ve. He wasn’t looking for answers to any questions, too stubborn in the fact that it was his job to know more about anything at any given time.
The Suriel stared into his soul as he stared into the cavity of its presence. A stalemate. Death looking at Death, a boy looking at his truth.
And its words were nothing but.
“One day, Shadowsinger, when the world has gone still around you, you’ll find out why silence isn’t quiet anymore.”
The harrowing words had haunted him for centuries. Azriel had shrunk in on himself, retreating further and further inside of the cavern of his mind as the words clung to his brain matter, always there.
In times where he might’ve forgotten the roughness of the Suriels voice, the pondering of so few words spoken, as if they were a curse branded into his soul, even his shadows would remind him. Curling behind the backs of his ears in a movement that reminded him so much of ragged, bony fingers reaching out for him in the same way. As he stared into those empty eye sockets, puzzling words falling from lips that didn’t move, a tongue that wasn’t there, from a jaw broken and swinging with the breeze.
Azriel finally understands.
Azriel finally understands why silence isn’t quiet anymore.
It’s your soft breaths, fingers brushing against the crisp page as you turn it. The cracking of the stiff spine. Your quiet gasps as the story goes wrong and the rubbing of your thighs when it goes right. He watches you from his place next to you, blankets shifting as you draw your knees to your chest, completely lost in the novel settled in your lap. You don’t even know it, that his hazel eyes are drawn to you like a maggot to rot. You’re lost in your own world, the quiet of the room a friend, a safety that allows you to immerse yourself in letters on pages.
It’s the wooden spoon scraping the bottom of the pot as you stir, staring at him with those heated eyes as if this is as tough for you as it is for him, keeping away. It’s the constant constricting in his chest, a yearning slowly stoked into a wildfire, cracking in the quiet as he waits. It’s the way your skirts whisper against your skin as you move around the kitchen. The sprinkle of spices, coarse salt pinched between your fingers, dripping into the stew. It’s bubbling, it’s meat so tender it falls apart with the spear of his fork, it’s a slurp of broth that burns him up just like you do, accepting the bond.
It’s your body curling into his while you sleep. The crumple of the sheets as you roll. Your fingernails against the mattress as you feel for him, mind buried deep in sleep. He wonders what you dream of, when you cling to him like that, the contours of your body fitting perfectly within his own. He can feel it, almost, the warmth in his chest as you dream.
It’s the flap of his wings in the night sky. You, cradled in his arms. The whipping of your hair across his wind-burnt cheeks. The light scratches at his scalp as you run your fingers through his unruly hair. It’s the steady thump of your chest, your heart against his as you cling to him, the scream you hold in but your body is tight with it.
It’s when you’re gone and he’s all alone. The silence doesn’t stop, but neither does the noise. It’s filled with voices, shadows cawing in his ears, sliding against his skin, chasing his footsteps like predators. It’s the voices in his head, the roaring of his beating chest as it screams at him to find you, even though you’re only gone a few more hours.
It’s clothes peeling away from skin. Buttons flying to the ground, fabric tearing. Footsteps stumbling closer to the bed. It’s nails scraping down his muscles, his around your waist, pressing bruises into your flesh. All the words that need to be said aren’t words at all. They’re tongues pressing against each other, soothing along each other. It’s teeth clicking, sticking to skin when you bite. It’s your flushed body peeling from his with every move, sticky with sweat. It’s the roiling inside of him, his mating bond coiling with yours, tighter and tighter and tighter until—
Azriel finally understands.

CRAYONS N LOVE !!
Tumblr media
IMAGINE, you turned into a child due to some accident that occurred in potionology and the adeuce duo hand you over to them to take care of you while they try to find the cure and after spending the whole day with them, you— being a child, drew them to show how much fun you had with them :)
gn! reader. (you/your pronouns)
Tumblr media
MALLEUS:
Tumblr media
“ Horntoon! ”
Letting out a hum, the fae turned to you with a gentle smile, slitted eyes landing on the piece of paper you held up for him to see.
A proud, toothy grin sat on your lips as you presented your work to him, the smell of wax and dull colours filling his view.
“ This is...? ” he mumbled, quite baffled at the messy drawing of what seemed to be..him? and you. Well, little you.
“ I droo you n me! ” a cheerful giggle escaped your lips as you handed him the paper, puffing your chest out in pride.
“ We sud play more! And and talk about gargooles! ”
...
yeah he stared at you with a mildly surprised expression for a few moments before chuckling to himself and holding your tiny hand in his.
“ Yes, we should play some more. ”
safe to say our boy keeps yo drawing framed and nicely kept in his room and treasures it sm 🙏🙏
he'll look at it in his lowest moments while he rots in bed and just smile at it which looks kinda creepy without context but he lobes you thas what that matters right.
FLOYD:
Tumblr media
“ Shrimpyyy? ”
“ Shrimpyyyyy?? ”
“ Lil' Shrimpyyyyyy??? ”
Getting ignored by a tiny version of you was not what the eel was planning on.
Stalking up to your small figure, Floyd was about to lunge a tickle attack before pausing, blinking owlishly as he took a closer look at what you were doing.
“ What are ya doing? ”
“ Oh! Floid! ” smiling up at him, you watched as he crouched down next to you, his attention being taken by the bright colours of crayons that sprawled out in front of you, some pieces of crumpled paper on the side, but what he was really focused on was the paper you were currently drawing on, small doodles of bubbles and little fishes surrounding two figures. a small child and a man that looked cartoonishly similar to him.
“ Is you! N me! ” you replied to his previous question, continuing to colour a sharp toothed yellow emoji on the side.
“ Jade helped me drow the cloths! ” turning your attention back to him you smiled, tilting your head to the side as you picked up the paper and showed it to him properly.
“ D'you like it? ” you questioned, getting a bit worried from the silence and lack of reaction from him.
...
“ Like it? ” the eel mumbled ominously, picking you up from your spot on the floor.
“ I LOVE it, shrimpy! It's so silly and tiny and messy! ”
Laughter filled his room as he spun you around, flopping down on his bed as you two continued to giggle.
“ Say, did ya draw more shrimpy? I wanna see all'o them! ”
he wont really frame it, more like he js keeps it sitting on top of his table but he doesn't toss it or keep it carelessly like he does w some of his books 💪

I've had this in my mind for the longest time now so here goes!
Riddle, Leona, and Malleus has a crush on MC, and one day they find MC trying to write... *gasp* a love letter! But they went "Oh, that isnt right... Maybe I'll find the words later." and tried to throw it away, only for it to end up in the boys' hands. How would they react when they realize the letter is addressed to them?
Thank you for sending an ask! Thank you so much for your patience.
Riddle, Leona, and Malleus + Finding Reader writing a love letter!
Riddle Rosehearts
Tumblr media
Riddle isn’t usually one to pry, especially when it involves affairs that don’t involve him, but you looked like you needed help writing a letter. Something he could definitely help with if you needed help articulating words.
When he saw you toss it away, he was a little confused but ultimately decided to leave it alone. That was until he noticed his name written in cursive on the front of the paper.
Does he know that’s incredibly invasive? Yes, but you seemed really stressed out over something you could just tell him yourself. He was a smidge worried.
So he reads the letter and is shocked with the revelation of you having a crush on him. He read it multiple times, trying to see if this was a joke or not. After thinking about it for a while, he decided to just go up to you and ask.
“Do you have a moment? I’d like to know if you were also interested in me? Pardon me for being so blunt, but I feel it’s best to just it off of my chest. *He then chuckles nervously*”
Leona Kingscholar
Tumblr media
Leona also usually doesn’t get into people’s business, mostly because you couldn’t pay him to care. But he sees Grim pulling on your sleeve towards him with a letter in your hand in the distance and he starts to believe that this might become his business soon.
He didn’t move a muscle. If you were gonna come to him, then he’d talk to you about it. However, he thought it was kinda funny to just watch you try to avoid this.
You manage to get Grim to drop it and you guys go off to buy tuna. What you didn’t notice was that the letter had fallen from your hands and Leona picked it up. He says that he was gonna get up anyway, but you know that’s bs.
He reads the letter with a smug expression on his face, and chuckles to himself as he finishes reading. He now sets off to let you know your so called “one-sided feelings” aren’t actually so one-sided.
“Hey, herbivore. You could’ve just said you like me. Didn’t need to do a whole song and dance about trying to avoid it.”
Malleus Draconia
Tumblr media
Malleus watched as you crumpled up yet another piece of paper, wondering what could possibly make you this nervous and upset. In fact, he was just about to get up and ask when you got up and left the library.
The fae walked over to where you were sitting and picked up one of the papers. He justified to himself that he was just cleaning up, but in reality he was just nosy. He started to read one and was surprised to see that they were all addressed to him. He picked up another letter, and just like he thought, it was also meant for him.
After he finished reading one of the more complete letters, he felt his face flush and his heart beat a little faster. His favorite human had feelings for him? Was this a dream?
He knew that he had to come to you right away, but decided that he should also write his feelings in a little letter. The man thought the idea was simply adorable.
So, he walked up to you as usual and gave you the letter with an expectant look. His eyes lit up as you became increasingly flustered reading his letter.
“So child of man, am I safe to assume we share the same feelings? There would be no greater honor than being yours.”

Azriel x reader: Milestones
A/N: I was listening to FaceTime with my Mom (Tonight) by Bo Burnham for the entire time while writing this :’)
Warnings: fluff
Word Count: 2,255
Visual Prompt here!
You’re so screwed.
So, so, so screwed.
Check the second hand on your watch, dodging out the way of passersby, feet practically dancing over the cobbles as you speed-walk toward the restaurant. There’s no way you’re going to make it. Absolutely no way. Gods, you were already marked late last week. One more strike and the consequences will be inflicted on your salary. You really don’t want to have to rely on Azriel to get food in again.
Eyes flit through shop windows mindlessly, hoping the weather will still be relatively temperate after your shift—your hopes are pretty high. The afternoons have been fairly mild recently, the smallest crispness only just beginning to creep in. Frost dusting the leaves, diamond dew-drops glittering in finely spun web.
A flash of white causes you to come to an abrupt halt, backtracking a few steps to peer through the large expanse of glass, the shop name typed out in bold letters across the pane. Contained within the front display are three dresses: pale yellow, white and pale orange, from left to right. Each is held upon a female mannequin torso, the fabric swishing as customers pass by in the background.
The centre dress. It’s lovely. The stitching, the length…the fabric looks like it wouldn’t itch, either.
Shuffle around some mental calculations…size, width, length. All good.
Damn. It looks like it would fit you.
Your watch practically burns into your wrist, searing your skin, urging you to move forward, time ticking away as you stare and stare. Looking at it alone, you know it’ll be pricey…possibly unaffordable, if you get a portion of your wages spliced off. You just have to try it on. Even if it’s utterly out of your price range, you can get to wear it, just to see if it really is as lovely as it looks.
But for now, you’ve got to sprint to work. You’ll just stop by later. Have something to look forward to.
————
You’re in absolutely no condition to try on that dress.
One slightly too-loud word away from crumpling into a pile of tears and washing down a drain, never to be seen again. Left to wallow beneath the city, dissolving into the Sidra.
Velaris is a lovely place to live, but it’s not perfect. Well, its citizens aren’t perfect. Between the male who had insisted his steak wasn’t properly cooked, to the female who sent her food back seven times, to the group of fae who were short on their bill by five gold pieces… Tears well at the memories alone. You got stuck on cleaning up, anyway—punishment for being late. At least your salary will remain untouched for now. The dress still stands a chance.
However, it will have to wait for tomorrow. Cleaning up takes long enough as it is, but having to do it on your own is a whole new level of misery. By the time the chairs are up on the tables, the floor’s been swept and the remaining utensils washed and returned to their rightful places, you’re on the verge of collapsing. Feet aching, wrists aching, head aching. The moment you get home, you’re going to pass out on the welcome mat.
The key clicks in the restaurant lock, finally done with the horrifically long day, and your back slumps, spine aching. What a miserable day.
Footsteps sound behind you, closer than any of those passing by, and you turn. Only to be overshadowed by—
You nearly burst into tears. “Az…” Lips tilt down in the corners, vision blurring as your voice wobbles.
“You were supposed to be home three hours ago,” he says gently, stepping closer, wings flaring to shield you from the partygoers and other currently unwelcome folk. “I thought you might’ve been hit with a long day,” he sighs, arms reaching out, tucking you against him, wings curving round, swallowing you whole.
You whimper as you fall into him, a few tears slipping out as you grip him, pressing into his leathers as his scent encompasses you. Heat warms your bones, sinking into your skin, slowly encouraging your light to start up again. Tears begin to slow, eyes drying as his comfort soothes you out, calming you down from the utterly hellish day. His hand strokes patterns down your back, pressing kisses to the crown of your head, making you want to melt like butter. Melt and splash onto him, soak into his skin so you can always be together.
Sniffing, you step back, wiping your cheeks; drying your eyes as you manage to get a hold of yourself. Azriel’s hands rest atop your shoulders, holding you together while you gather up the strength to do it yourself. “Feeling better now?” He asks, attention solely on you. Head dips in confirmation, though he waits a moment longer before stepping away. “Let’s get home. Then we can get into bed and forget today ever happened.” A sad smile lifts your lips as you look up at him gratefully. “Thanks, Az.”
He shrugs it off, hand swallowing yours as you begin the darkened walk back, faelight illuminating the way. You don’t miss how his shadows dart around you when you reach a slightly unstable part of the cobbles, how his hand tightens on your own. “Want to talk about all the shitty people?” He offers, a laugh bubbling from your chest. “Not really,” you mumble, “I don’t want to give attention to their shittiness.” He nods in the low light, going quiet.
“You know,” he starts slowly, “I think you’re pretty strong for going back there day after day.” You snort. Hand squeezes you, “I’m not joking. Having to interact with that many people, put up with so much bullshit, and keep going back?” He hums quietly, and the tears well again—you turn your head slightly. “Says the Spymaster,” you mumble, “you’re one of the strongest people I know.”
“And you don’t see me waitressing,” he counters.
Laughter bursts suddenly from your lungs, blaring through the night air. Tears spill as you laugh, squeezing closer to him, feeling how his wing wraps around you affectionately. “I really love you sometimes, Az,” you half cry, half laugh. You can feel the grin on his mouth as he peers at you, a single brow quirked. “Only sometimes?” You sniff again, praying your nose won’t start running this time. “Okay…all the time,” you relent, “but particularly now. I extra-specially love you.”
He replies with a laugh of his own, making you go all soft and fuzzy inside, heat warming your breastbone as your temperature spikes with pleasure. Hearing him laugh…it makes you happy. Especially when he’s happy from you. That’s the Special Happy—only his kind.
————
“Oh…”
You blink a few times, comprehending the words. It was sold a few days ago.
“Do you know…I mean, will there be another?” You ask, trying not to sound as crestfallen as you feel. The shop assistant shakes her head, curls bouncing as she does so, “I’m afraid not. At least, not that I know of. It was a one-off from the seamstress—she generally doesn’t do dresses like that.”
“Oh…” You repeat.
“I’m sorry you missed it,” she tries to console. “If it helps at all, the male who bought it mentioned it was for his wife—it’ll have a loved home.” You nod weakly. It helps a little. You press your lips together in a tight smile, “thank you anyway, for being so kind about it. You probably didn’t want to have to comfort a moping customer today when you clocked in.”
She smiles gently, “it’s no skin of my back. I hope you’ll find something else at some point.” You nod your head dutifully, then turn, glumly padding out of the shop. Azriel remains where you left him, stood just to the side of the entrance—worried about knocking a mannequin over in the compact shop. “They didn’t have it?” He asks, noting your expression. Shake your head dismally, sighing. “Gods, if I’d been earlier that day I could’ve gone in after work. It might’ve still been there.”
His arm wraps over your shoulders, pulling you into his side while you fall into step beside him. “Oh well,” you murmur, “the female was very nice about it, so that’s something, I suppose. Not a totally awful experience.” Azriel hums in response, squeezing gently. Puff air out from your lips, “anywhere you’d like to go, then?” He thinks for a little, pausing to contemplate the question. As if he hasn’t already made a list ranging from highest to lowest priority of places he’s like to visit today. You know his games quite well.
“What about food? A hungry stomach won’t help with your mood.”
“I asked where you’d like to go. Not where my stomach does,” you reply grumpily. He gives you a pointed look and you sigh. A reluctant smile raising your lips. He’s right.
“Will you at least pick a place you like?” You sigh, leaning into him, taking in his scent. He chuckles at that, already leading you away from the shop, distraction having succeeded.
————
A week later, and the dress still glimmers in the backstreets of your memory.
Eyes have begun checking the store front day after day, just to see if another similar one has been sent over, but—nothing. So far.
So far, you remind yourself. There’ll be other dresses. Other nice things to look forward to. Other things to be happy about. Like your husband having been completely free today. A smile curves you lips as you shuffle through your wardrobe, searching for something nice to wear for him.
Neither of you particularly fancied going out to eat—despite it probably having been easier to do so. But you spend so much time around other people eating, and you’d just be habitually tense the entire evening. Not to mention Azriel wouldn’t find it fun, either. So you’re having a quiet night in, after a loud day out, shared with friends and family alike.
He knocks on your door, stepping in soon after. “Looking for something to wear?” He asks, a lilt to his voice. You roll your eyes, smiling none the less, “how’d you know? And you didn’t wait for my answer. I could’ve been changing.” Tongue flicks out to wet his lips, eyes latched upon your own. Heat warms your cheeks, shaking your head, grinning to yourself.
Azriel walks over, large hands settling at your waist, gently turning you to face him. Lowers his mouth over yours, lips slanting together. You’re surprised at first, caught off guard by the soft display of affection, but then you melt into it, hands cupping his jaw, his own keeping you close against his chest. Pull away to look at one another. “What was that for?” You whisper hoarsely, peering up into gentle hazel eyes.
Lips curve, turning you around to face the bed. A cream box laying atop the neatly made duvet, pretty bow tied atop it. “For me?” You ask, looking up at him, head tilting back against his chest. He nods, gentle pushing you forward, “have a look.”
Smiling, you raise the lid from the box, feeling his gaze warming your skin.
Blink.
White fabric…
Eyes lock on hazel, mischievous and adoring.
Turn back to the gift.
Swallowing, shaky fingers dip into the box, latching on the familiar fabric. Stand from the bed, allowing the dress to unfold in front of you, held up by the seams atop the sleeves. It’s the dress.
Your dress.
Lower it slowly, eyes heating as they connect with his, softened with affection. “You…” Azriel nods gently, expression shifting to something a little vulnerable. “I hope you like it.”
The tears start before you have the chance to even try to stop them, lip wobbling as you set the dress down on the bed, hurrying over. Arms wrap around him, burying your head in his chest, willing your eyes to dry. Hands settle against you, stroking your hair, tracing circles over your back, laughing quietly. Keeping you safe in the quiet of your bedroom.
“You like it?” He asks, making sure he’s gotten it right. He could never get it wrong, but you nod anyway. “I love you and hate you so much right now,” you mumble, sniffing. Pulling away a little—enough to peer up at him. “What have I done to earn your hate?” He smiles, hand still stroking your hair. “How am I ever supposed to top this for you?” You murmur, fingers gripping him tighter. “You’ve set the standard so high, how am I ever supposed to match it?”
Azriel laughs, shaking his head, “go put it on for me, and you’ll have done so.”
You doubt it, but follow his instructions anyway, changing out of your day clothes, shifting into the dress. Soft and gentle on your skin, fitting comfortably, not too heavy; not too light. Utterly perfect. Lip wobbles again as you arrange the fabric to sit how you want, turning to look at him, waiting his opinion. “What do you think?”
“I think I pity everyone who’ll never get to see you like this,” he murmurs, silently walking forward, stopping when his feet are either side your own. “And I think I’m the luckiest male alive because I’m the first you chose to show.” Cups your jaw, pressing a kiss to your forehead. Pulls away to look at you, smiling adoringly.
“Happy Birthday.”

It's my birthday so I've been in that mood where I imagine the cod boys celebrating their b-day, and as I am absolutely obsessed with fae!Keegan Angel and their baby, I've just been thinking about the little monster asking Angel about if their daddy has a birthday since both of them have ones they celebrate, and since Angel has no fucking idea how fae birthdays work or how fae even get born in the first place I imagine she and the baby would just choose a day and throw Keegan a surprise party just because (he would tear up, but will never admit to it)
I love that it has just been decided she's called Angel, I have had no hand in this. This idea though... so cute, absolutely divine, I'm eating it up. Sorry this is a day late, Tumblr stopped letting me edit :)
"Ah ah!" You yell, racing to push Keegan away from the fridge. He freezes, startled by your sudden exclamation, and lets you move him away from the fridge. "Let me get it for you," you offer casually, barely cracking the door to fish around for a soda water. Keegan watches you struggle with a raised brow, unwilling to help after your little outburst. You grab one of the cans and hand it to him triumphantly.
He pops the tab and eyes you with clear suspicion. "Somethin' you wanna share angel?" He asks when you don't come right out with it. You shake your head and he shrugs. "I'll just ask the little monster," he tells you, turning to go find your child.
"Don't!" You grab his arm to try and keep him in the kitchen, he looks at you again with more concern, "Please," you beg, "They're- you know they can't keep secrets from you and they're so excited."
Keegan smiles, his eyes soft. He pulls his hand from your grip and cups your face. "Fine," he relents, "but you can't keep me outta the fridge forever."
"Not forever," you promise him, "you can have it back tomorrow." You think for a second, "tomorrow afternoon."
"You're making breakfast then?" You nod, Keegan gives your cheek a light, affectionate, pat. "Alright then, tomorrow afternoon."
-
You wake him up with a kiss in the morning, gentle and imploring. He's always slow to wake up, but you find this method works best for these sort of slow mornings. Keegan stirs enough to wrap an arm around you and attempt to drag you back into bed, something that makes you laugh and push at his hold until he rolls over to check his phone.
"Fuck me," he groans, "s'that late already? Thought you'd be at work by now."
You shake your head, "Took the day off." He hums, rubbing some sleep from his eyes.
"What's the occasion? I'm not missin' an anniversary am I?"
Another shake of your head. "I will let your monster answer that."
"My monster," Keegan grumbles, pushing himself to sit up against the headboard, "thought they were our monster." You laugh and tug the bedroom door open. You child strikes a pose, their fingers tightly gripping the strings on a handful of balloons. Keegan snorts and they shoot like a bullet towards him, clamoring onto the beg with a loud,
"Happy birthday!"
"Birthday!" Keegan grabs the kid around their tummy and pulls them close to kiss their cheek as the shriek and squirm, "Thank you buddy." You can almost see the little golden glow between their chests, the excited plucking of your child's fingers at the air between them pulling new warmth into the room. Keegan holds a hand out to you, and you walk over to let him pull you against his side. "I didn't know it was my birthday," he smiles up at you, mischief dancing in his eyes.
"They asked," you glance down at where your child is gleefully attempting to pull a crumpled card out of their pocket, "and I figured we're far enough into the season-"
"Season?" Keegan squeezes your hip and looks back at your child, "what a clever thing your mommy is now that she's got all the pieces to the puzzle."
"It is Spring, right?" You pluck nervously at the cotton tee he's wearing. You child chatters away on his lap, pointing out who is who on their card.
"Baby season," he agrees, taking the card from the kid to look over the hand drawn illustrations, "about time to start trying for another."
"Is there a time for that, for you?" You joke, and Keegan gives you such a serious look you can't help the spare giggles that slip out before he smiles and shakes his head.
"You got me all year baby," He tugs you down to kiss him, his head tipped back as you lean down, "but I want a whole team of these things." He tells you when you pull away. A tiny hand pushes at your face and you grab you kid's hand and kiss their fingers with a smile.
"Probably a good time to start trying then," You lift your child off of Keegan's lap and up into your arms to rest against your hip. Keegan hums, his fingers dragging against your hip as you bounce the kid. You'll save the positive test you took for later, when you can properly celebrate without your first born interrupting.

War thrummed through the blood of a Viking warrior, it was a known phenomenon, and it wasn’t to be questioned nor tested. But what lay beneath the surface of your Viking was far more than that, and his wrath would be a testament to Tyr in his vengeance.

Dark shadows extended over the path before you, and you whimpered quietly. The pain of movement, the sheer excruciating labour of moving each limb one by one, had become far too much to bear, and by the Gods, you were knocking on the Aesir’s door.
Blood pooled and dripped in your wake from the open wound on your side, and the scrapes and slashes to your legs and arms stung viciously.
Cloudiness had seeped from the inky sky to your vision, creeping in tendrils from the edges of your consciousness, and had started to consume you from the inside out.
Bucky – where was Bucky? You scanned the trees around you, desperation welling up from the depths of your being at the lack of a proud snorting steed, or the lack of Bucky’s rasped voice after hours and hours of searching for you.
You hadn’t meant to venture so far in your determination to find a gift for your Bear, a price you would pay right there on the forest floor – succumb to the loss of life essence and be taken by the Valkyrie.
And there was nothing you could do to prevent it.
Time dragged as you pushed on, each breath more painful than the last. You had no idea who the men that attacked you were – no idea as to why they hunted you for sport. Maybe that was a lie – you knew deep down precisely the reason, but you had been claimed by one of the fiercest Hersir known to the sagas.
How could this have happened?
“Mouse!” a voice bellowed, and you shrunk back, cowering in fear – blood loss and hysteria had long taken your senses and interpretation of reality. “Mouse! Mouse, fuck–can you hear me, little one?”
You blinked and glanced up. The snow white fur of Bucky’s steed, Ragnar, filled your vision – but that was not possible. The God’s were offering you one last favour, one last chance to see him before you perished, surely.
Unbidden, your hand reached out to touch the soft, scratchy fur of Ragnar’s shoulder, only you met with resistance. The strong muscle and bone of a mount from Hel was under your touch, tough and resistant to even Death’s own hands. “Rag-”
“Mouse, darling,” the voice continued a little louder. “Can you hear me?”
Slowly, you looked up to meet the gaze of the spectre, but it was Bucky. You blinked hard, and your hand touched his chest – the solid bulk unmoving under your gentle hand. “Bear?”
“It is me,” Bucky rushed, and you felt his hands on your elbows. “What in Thor’s name happened?!”
Pain laced through your side, and you crumpled to the floor, the impact only lessened by Bucky’s grip. “Hurts…”
“Darling, please–God’s please, I need you to get up. Get up,” Bucky pleaded, the crack in his usual stoic tone siphoned alarm down your spine and through your being. “Up–Ragnar, here,” he continued, and the stallion snorted and stomped his hoof as he stepped closer. “He will keep you safe.”
A low nicker was the last thing you registered before Bucky lifted you bodily up off the moss-strewn ground of the trail and into Ragnar’s saddle. “Stay. Protect her, boy,” he ordered, pulling free his axe. It was then you heard more heavy footsteps and war cries in the distance.
“Bear,” you whimpered, reaching for him, but Ragnar turned, stepping back with his ears flat. “Please.”
“Stay.” The sharp, decorated axe gleamed in the dying light of the moon. Bucky advanced forward alone and unprotected, with no hesitance or qualm of facing the possible army.
Figures appeared on the trail ahead of Bucky, and they stopped. A scream had lodged itself in your throat at the sight of them, and Ragnar growled, his sides heaving with angry breaths.
The advancing war party hollered and called upon the sight of the lone Hersir; and you managed a glance at their battered shields – they were from an unknown clan of unknown origin, and it was plain as day that they had only hate in their hearts.
“You touched what was mine!” Bucky called, his voice filled with vitriol and fury. “And by the God’s, if you do not turn around and go back to whatever Hel you crawled from…” The axe glinted with bloodthirsty intent, and you watched Bucky square his broad shoulders – a stance of a bear preparing for battle. “You will find yourself in the pits where no hope for Valhalla will come.”
Ragnar pawed the ground and breathed heavily, the feel of his muscled back tensing and preparing to battle unmistakable.
Silence filled the trail – a tangible thing you could taste like the blood on your tongue.
“We will take what we claimed,” one of the men rallied, his sword handle banging against the worn wood of his battered shield. “And you cannot stop us!”
You watched Bucky stand stock still as the men closed in one by one until he tilted his head. “Well…” Something changed in the air – thick with poison and the stench of rotting flesh. “May the God’s cast you from Valhalla for having the gall to touch what is mine.”
War cries and shouts filled the air, and Bucky launched forward into the battlement of men, roaring his fury – blades flew and clashed in a hail of sparks as the war party surrounded him, but each blow glanced off his back as though he was made of iron.
“Bear!” you screamed as they overwhelmed him, and Ragnar bellowed, a sound that should never leave such a creature so kind.
It was like you were melded to his back as Ragnar ploughed forward, headstrong into the clashing men. Leaving you to watch in awestruck horror as Ragnar’s teeth clamped onto the back of one man’s neck and pulled him back – the once fierce warrior now slumped to the ground with his head stuck in a jaunted angle.
“Ragnar! Hlaup!” Bucky growled, and Ragnar backed away, mouth stained with blood and his sides still heaving. “Go, take her!”
Hooves stomped the forest floor as Ragnar reared and bellowed back, staying steadfast.
The sound of even more hooves on the trail caught your attention amongst the warring battle. You turned to see a black steed carrying a man – blond hair flying behind him, and you gasped as the black steed skidded to a halt beside Ragnar.
“Buck!” the man yelled, dismounting.
“Get back!” Bucky replied – still swinging his axe. “Protect her!”
The blond man looked at you and baulked. “By the Gods,” he rushed, coming closer. “You are paler than death, sweet one,” he continued, his hand on your thigh.
A roar from the battle made you both look up to find Bucky in the throes of bloodlust, his teeth grit and face painted crimson. The axe in his hand swung and swiped a man over the throat, downing him in a gurgling heap – another was hit in the flank, the iron meeting tissue and sinew with a squelch.
“You will not,” Bucky shouted, pulling the axe free and turning to meet the last four men head on. “Touch what is mine!” Each word was followed by a swing of his axe – now wet and slick with blood.
All of the war party had fallen at Bucky’s feet – a perfect circle of bloodied corpses that painted the earth with rivers and pools of blood.
Silence reigned, and you started to sob with relief at the sight of Bucky standing victorious over the hunting party. You watched Bucky’s shoulders rise and fall with a laborious effort – the bloodlust clearly starting to fade with the loss of adversaries.
“Bucky,” the blond man cautiously said, his tone still firm. “Come back, you’re not there. You protected her.”
Before you could think better of it, you slid from Ragnar’s saddle – the spell long gone, and you limped as fast as you could to the towering Viking, still sobbing heartily with relief. “Bear–Bear, please!”
“Mouse,” he breathed, falling to his knees on the soaked ground. You collided with his chest with a wet slap, and you gripped at his shoulders, his back – anywhere you could find purchase as you wept from the fear, pain, and the relief. “You are safe, I have you.”
You looked up from Bucky’s neck to see a shadow down the path – a wolf, grey in colour, with white, glowing eyes. The creature watched you for a moment before it turned and evaporated into wisps of smoke.
Footsteps on the sodden ground behind you brought you back to reality.
“Let us get her home–our home,” the blond man said softly, his hand on Bucky’s other shoulder. “Her wounds will need tending to.”
Bucky nodded, and as he stood, you were swept up from the ground in one fluid motion. Hoofbeats splashed on the blood soaked ground, and you blinked hazily as Ragnar nosed at your thigh. “Good boy,” Bucky whispered. “Thank you.”
Ragnar blinked at Bucky and turned, offering his side. “Let us go home.”

A/N: Hello! This is my first ever ACOTAR fic and I hope I do Azriel and the other characters justice! This fic will follow the majority of the plotline from the 2nd and 3rd books but please note that I took some creative liberties in some parts and shifted from the plotline in the 5th book.
The towering mountains looked especially magnificent against the blue and pink-hued sky. Crisp morning air whipped around you as you whirled past the horizon, your white and gold-tipped wings beating hard and straightening into a glide. This was always the best part of your day, flying just before the sun rose.
You craved the sun’s soft warmth and glow against your skin. Keeping your eyes on the brightening horizon, you focused on the breeze that swept the scent of the wisteria, lilac, and honeysuckle that adorned the Palace. The beautiful home made from sunstone sprawled below you, its bridges, and towers glowing as it waits to be sun-kissed. You couldn’t believe you managed to protect the Palace for 49 years, a pang of guilt flowed through as your fae eyes focused on a rebuilding village miles away.
You were hoping to catch the sunrise today but then two sharp whistles came from somewhere within the castle. With a groan and a roll of your eye, you dove down with blinding speed. With a swoop, you land gracefully on Thesan’s office balcony. You slammed his door open and glared at the High Lord who perched on his desk.
“Did you just fucking whistle to get my attention? Like one of your birds? A simple shout of my name would have sufficed!” you snapped.
Thesan smirked, “Well it worked, didn’t it?”
You grabbed a decorative trinket from a nearby shelf and hurled it at him, “What are you doing up so early? I thought you and Callon would still be rolling in bed at this hour.”
He crumpled a piece of paper and threw it straight onto your forehead. "I may be your cousin but I'm still the High Lord. You can't say things like that!"
With a mischievous smirk, you sat on the couch and clasped your hands pleadingly. With the grace of a seasoned actor, you softened your features and gave him the most innocent look you could muster. "Forgive me, High Lord of Dawn, I was just wondering why you summoned me. You know I don’t like to be disturbed during sunrise."
Thesan wanted to scold you for being so dramatic, but he couldn't, not when you were his little cousin whom he loved fiercely. "Rhysand and his courtiers are coming for a visit in two days.” He held up a hand and gave you a pointed look. “Before you ask, I don't know how long they'll stay here."
All traces of your playfulness disappeared; the face of a hardened warrior took over your features. You jumped up and stalked over to Thesan, your power, and energy rolling off your body.
“Those evil little Night Court brutes are coming to the Palace. Why?”
Thesan looked at you coolly, deciding he was going to approach this cautiously when he noticed the absence of the usual jewels around your neck. “Rhysand wants to come by and have diplomatic meetings and spend some leisure time here in Dawn Court. I have no doubt he’s here for something else, but we’ll find out eventually, and please, when the guests are here, wear your siphons and glamour them if you want. I can’t have them catching a whiff of what you are.”
You grumbled as you waved a hand over your neck to magically place the necklace on yourself. The necklace had three sapphires strung together by a chain of diamonds, it was gifted to you by Thesan when you reached maturity. The largest jewel sat in the middle flanked by two slightly smaller counterparts. It was beautiful and fit for Dawn Court’s royal family, but it also had a purpose. It helped you contain and conceal some of your magic, you could even see your power thrumming underneath it if you looked close enough.
With your overwhelming magic mostly contained, Thesan lets out a breath and finally felt comfortable enough to bark out orders to you. He wanted you to check on all the wards, secure the vaults that held ancient artifacts, and make sure all the guards and servants were briefed about the Night Court. Even though your guests weren’t due for a couple of days, Thesan reminded you to keep your wings hidden just in case they popped by early. Only the Peregryn’s and a select few people in your court knew that you were half High Fae and half Peregryn. And even fewer people knew the extent of your power. Thesan had them partake in an unbreakable vow to never reveal your true nature until the day you decide to reveal yourself.
By the end of the day, everyone in the Palace was exhausted from their efforts to prepare themselves for the upcoming visitors. Callon, who was Thesan’s lover and the Captain of the Peregryn legion was pissed that your cousin had invited them to Dawn. He was running himself ragged and snapping at you the entire day to make sure the troops were ready and planned all the security around the Palace and surrounding villages. Callon was annoying you so much that you had to remind him that he was outranked by you and to watch his tone. He apologized and you just scoffed, he was, unfortunately, a man in love, and it made him a nervous mess. You expected better from the captain of the Peregryn legions.
The sun had set and you, Thesan, and Callon had settled down by the fireplace and shared multiple bottles of wine. They were laughing at a joke Callon made when you heard a faint whisper in the corner of the room. You look and see nothing; you were about to ignore it when another whisper was heard. You looked at the pair, but they were in deep conversation, and no one seemed to have heard it, you looked back again and saw these dark wisps moving from the corner and going past the half-open door. You excused yourself and quickly slipped past the doors keeping the black wisps in your sight. They were no longer whispering but moving faster through the halls, you keep your footsteps light hoping you wouldn’t startle whatever this was. You stealthily followed it around the castle, and it seemed to be looking for something, it wasn’t until it reached the doors of the vault was when you did something. Not exactly sure what to do, you quickly leaned down and wafted the dark wisps with your hand. It spasmed and you swear it was almost startled to see you, it lingered for a few more seconds before disappearing into thin air.
“Mother above, what in the hell was that?” you said out loud.
With the Night Court arriving in a few days, there was no way this wasn’t their doing. Bursting into a run, you screamed Thesan’s name as you bounded up the stairs hoping it gave Thesan and Callon enough time to separate themselves from whatever they were doing in the few minutes they were left alone. You opened the door and Thesan was already standing, his eyes big at the sound of your panicked voice.
“What?” his eyes looked for any bodily injuries. “What is it?”
“I saw these black wisps moving around the Palace. They were trying to go into the vault before I stopped them,” you said.
Thesan frowned and then his jaw clenched, something he did when was he aggravated. “That must be the Shadowsinger, it’s incredibly annoying that he got through the wards. We'll have to strengthen them now. I’ll take the first half of the Palace and you reinforce the wards in the back.”
You nodded and hurriedly made your way to the south side of the Palace. Shadowsingers were extremely rare, and courts coveted them because they were the best spymasters. People could train for years but nothing would ever beat a shadowsinger. Until now, you honestly thought they were this tall tale they’d tell kids to scare them into behaving. You began to feel uneasy, was the shadowsinger in the Palace or was it just his shadows that he snuck in? Either way, you hated that this person was able to infiltrate your court.
***
The day of their visit finally arrived, and you peered in the mirror making sure you looked perfect, you wanted to make a good impression, this was the first time they’d meet you. Your lavender silk dress hung over your body perfectly, you gave a little spin in front of a mirror and examined the low back. Just in case anything turned hostile, your wings will have no obstructions if you ever need it. You waved a hand over your sapphires and glamoured them to be invisible, they were glowing brighter these days and it was easier to hide them than explain why your sapphires are more than jewels. Reaching for a mauve-colored bottle, you reapplied the color onto your lips and considered dusting blush on your cheeks, but you decided against it.
You lifted your hand and tenderly brushed the scars on the right side of your face. There were two parallel jagged lines, one nicked the bottom of your eyebrow and dragged up to your hairline. The other ran across the top of your cheekbone. You weren’t thrilled that it was so prominent, but you never thought to hide it. It was usually the first thing people noticed when they looked at you, the day Thesan was freed from Under the Mountain, he tried to get rid of it but even the High Lord of Healing couldn’t do anything about it. You could glamour it to make it disappear, but you wanted it there. It was a reminder of what had happened when Amarantha ruled Prythian, of what you endured and did for the people of Dawn Court.
Smoothing down your dress one more time, you left your bedroom suite and walked to the entrance to join Thesan and Callon. You were admiring the wisteria that hung along the arches above when the air shifted. Darkness filled the air for a split second then the High Lord of Night and two other courtiers appeared in front of you. The High Lord’s power hits your senses before you could even get a good look at their faces, your eyes are drawn to the violet-eyed male standing in the middle. Your eyes shift to the female on his right and then swept to the even taller winged male on his left. The High Lord was attractive, his feline smile already told you what kind of man he would be. What caught your attention was the winged male, he was the most attractive person you had ever set eyes on. His hazel eyes flickered to meet yours and it took everything in you not to gasp, you didn’t expect his gaze to be so scrutinizing. Rhysand gives a delicate nod to Thesan and his courtiers bow to your High Lord. Thesan returns the nod as you and Callon bow respectfully to the Lord of Night.
Glowing gold and moving with grace, your cousin opened his arms and swept it to gesture to the Palace. “Welcome, Rhysand. Allow me to introduce you to my cousin who happens to be my 2nd in Command.”
A friendly smile graced your lips as you allowed your golden glow to shine through, it was more subdued than Thesan, but you preferred it that way. “Welcome to Dawn Court, High Lord Rhysand. I look forward to getting to know you and your courtiers.”
Rhysand took your hand and pressed a kiss on top, a customary gesture that was a sign of respect to females in your court. The smile he gave you had you fighting a blush that threatened to bleed onto your cheeks. “Please, call me Rhys.”
Thesan introduces Callon and like the tough Captain he was, his greeting was reserved as he sized up the males and female. Rhysand introduced Feyre Cursebreaker and you threw all propriety out the window when you grabbed her hands and thanked her for bringing your cousin back.
Rhysand then gestured to the tall muscular man next to him, “This is Azriel, my spymaster.”
It was then when you noticed the small wisps of shadows that surrounded the tall Illyrian, you did your best not to gawk at them. He was dressed in all-black formal wear, his clothes just as refined as Rhysand and Feyre. The only difference was he was the one strapped with a weapon, from the looks of it something special and much older than you. That handsome man was the shadowsinger, probably the same one that was spying on you a few days before. You’re not sure if he or his shadows know it was you that disrupted its spying, but he showed no signs of recognition as he stepped forward to kiss your hand. You noticed the significant scarring on the tops of his hands and fingers, averting your gaze, you focused on the way his lips pressed onto your skin.
“Lady Y/n,” he said, his voice low and heavenly.
While he wasn’t as outspoken or flirtatious as his High Lord, his hazel eyes held yours in curiosity. It was only broken when Thesan clapped his hands and gestured for everyone to enter the Palace and have lunch before the diplomatic talks started. You fell into step with Feyre who stared up at the wonder of the Palace. Her eyes traveled from the hanging flowers to the bridges and towers of the estate. She tells you that it was beautiful which filled your heart with pride. This was your home, a place that you bled and fought for.
Thesan had used magic to make the dining table smaller, he preferred his meals with guests to be more intimate. It also made it easier to read them if they were in proximity. Thesan and you sat at the ends, a reminder to Rhysand that he was still in your court, and if this bothered him, he said nothing. Callon and Feyre sat by your cousin which left you flanked by Rhysand and Azriel. The Palace conjured chairs suitable for wings for Callon and Azriel, the spymaster nodded in appreciation. With a wave of Thesan’s hand, a feast appears on the table and the smell of roast beef and stir-fried vegetables filled the air. Everyone eagerly dug into the food and compliments from Rhysand had your cousin smiling in thanks.
Casual conversation flowed and it surprised you, this was not what you thought Rhysand and his courtiers were going to act like. You were expecting arrogant bastards, and you bluntly told that to Rhysand’s face. Thesan almost choked on his wine and Callon’s face blanched. Rhysand’s violet eyes widened in surprise, no one had ever spoken to the High Lord of Night like that. Azriel and Feyre looked at you in shock, they couldn’t tell if you meant to be rude or if you were genuinely curious. You innocently looked at Rhysand waiting for a response, no one at the table breathed until a deep and genuine laughter came from Death Incarnate himself. A beat later, the sound of chuckles comes from Azriel.
“In the spirit of keeping up our alliance, I thought it’d be beneficial if we acted more like ourselves instead of the ‘arrogant bastards’ we could be,” said Rhysand, an amused smile on his face.
Content with his answer, you smiled at him and continued to eat completely oblivious to the situation.
Thesan took a deep breath and faced Rhysand. “While my cousin is a strong and competent second-in-command, she has the horrible habit of saying the first thing that comes into her mind. I profusely apologize for her comments, she has much to learn as a courtier. My cousin hasn’t had a lot of experience in court.”
You stopped chewing when you realized how rude your comment sounded. You apologized and Rhysand brushed it off, he told you that it was a smart observation to make. As mortified as Thesan was and embarrassed you were, that conversation ended up making the atmosphere more casual and friendly. You discover that Rhysand is an overconfident flirt, but his advances aren’t disgusting, you find yourself enjoying the banter. It also helped that the true object of his affection was the woman next to him. You had an inkling of his feelings after observing how he looked at her. Feyre was curious and asked many questions, and Thesan answered them patiently. It was Azriel whom you kept stealing glances at, he looked like the quiet type, but his silence was unnerving. His shadows were calm, but you could swear they twitched every time you looked at them.
You were about to ask Azriel about Illyrians, you had never met an Illyrian and you were so curious to ask about his species of faerie when Feyre cleared her throat.
“Were you there Under the Mountain?” asked Feyre. “I don’t think I’ve seen you before.”
Rhysand and Azriel leaned in, they’ve been to Dawn Court a couple of times over the past centuries, but they have never seen or heard of you. They were surprised when Thesan introduced you as his second in command, they were usually well updated knowing who held power in the other courts.
“My cousin,” you said as you shot a pointed look at him. “Is like an overprotective mother hen. He didn’t let me make a lot of public appearances in court until I was about 50 years old and whenever we had visitors, he made sure I was off somewhere doing some training or working with the other healers.”
Feyre’s brow furrowed as she looked at Thesan.
“While suffocating at the time, it was what saved me from being trapped Under the Mountain. I had broken my arm during training the day Amarantha invited the High Lords to that party. I didn’t feel like being a courtier, so I didn’t heal myself and used that as an excuse to stay behind. Only a few faeries knew of my existence, so Amarantha and her people never noticed my absence. The day she drugged the High Lords and used the spell, Thesan used the last of his power to put wards up to protect the Palace and send me a note with instructions,” you said as your eyes clouded thinking of the past 5 decades. “I went crazy the first year, the pressure of protecting the estate and the villages around it was too much. Everyone I knew and trusted was Under the Mountain, I was alone for a while. I raged when I realized I couldn’t leave the court for fear something might happen to it while I was gone trying to get my family back.”
You weren’t mad that he was protective when you were young. Yes, it was isolating but you understood why Thesan did what he did. If they knew the true extent of your power, you’d probably have the biggest target on your back. You sipped your wine and looked at your cousin as his remorseful brown eyes stared back at you. The day Thesan winnowed back to the Palace, you held each other and wept. He promised to never leave you alone again.
Azriel studied your side profile as you talked, he took in every curve of your nose, cheekbones, and lips. You were the female that caught his shadows, they practically ran to him in distress because they’d never been detected while spying before. All his shadows told him was it was a female who discovered them, they failed to mention it was Thesan’s 2nd. His eyes traced the jagged scars that did nothing to hinder your elegance. Your beauty rivaled Morrigan, he even dared to think that you may be more alluring than her. He watched you as you told your story, he could see your radiance dim as if the mere thought of the last 49 years had drained you. He could see the pain in your eyes, it was the same thing he felt when Rhys locked them in Velaris. At least Azriel had his family with him, from the looks of it, those closest to you were trapped Under the Mountain.
“I understand how you feel,” said Azriel.
All heads turned to him; it was the second time he had spoken out loud since arriving in Dawn Court. Amused, Rhys watched his brother lean closer to you as if he was captivated.
“Something similar happened to me, I can’t imagine not having your family there to help you.” He looked at the permanent marks on your skin. “Your scar—was that from one of Amarantha’s creatures?”
A low warning growl comes from Callon as he glared at the Illyrian, how dare he mention your scar. Rhysand almost spit out his food, Azriel was the politest and most well-mannered person in his inner circle. Azriel hated talking about his scars, yet he blatantly asked you about yours, he couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Rhys looked at Thesan to see if he was mad, but your cousin was just as curious as how you would respond.
Your fingers went up to trace the jagged lines, and the memory of torn flesh resurfaced. “This happened about 20 years ago, a Bogge was slaughtering faeries in a village. I’m no High Lord but I was the next best thing for my people. I went and hunted for it or-- at least tried to drive it away but I barely made it out alive, if I wasn’t a gifted healer myself, the scarring would be worse.”
“How did you escape it?” asked Feyre, her mouth opened in shock after hearing that you encountered the wretched monster by yourself.
This was when you had to lie and tell half-truths to protect your other identity. You looked at Thesan and he gave a discreet nod.
“The Golden Warrior came just in time to drag me up into the air. Bogge can’t fly so it wasn’t able to reach me. With teamwork and a miracle from the Cauldron, we were able to kill it,” you replied.
Azriel looked at Rhysand, but his brother was already on it. “We’ve heard about your warrior-- the Golden Warrior,” said Rhysand. “We heard this faerie had deadly power, the ability to bring down armies onto its knees.”
All playfulness was gone from Rhysand’s handsome face, his demeanor was all business. Callon bristled at the change in mood, but the High Lord of Dawn just frowned.
Thesan tutted in annoyance. “You could have waited until tonight’s drinks to bring up politics, Rhysand.” He waved his hand, and the table cleared, and tea and pastries filled the space. “Please continue.”
“We were just curious about the Golden Warrior; his power is something that could be useful in the future.”
Thesan squinted at Rhysand. “You know something I don’t know… what is it? You wouldn’t be visiting me if something big had happened. Is Amara…” he trailed off; he didn’t like saying her name. Especially after he watched her kill one of his Peregryn courtiers and plucked the white feathers of their wings. The next day, she wore a feathered dress to dinner just to watch Thesan and his court try to hide their fury.
“The evil queen is dead and will stay dead,” reassured Rhysand. “I just wanted to visit my allies and make sure everything between our courts is okay. If something or somebody like Amarantha pops up again, I want to know if we can depend on Dawn Court to ally your foot soldiers and Peregryn legions.”
Thesan frowned again and looked at Callon who gave him a small nod. You bit down on your tongue before you could say something that would contradict Thesan in front of the visitors. Your cousin does not like conflict, he tried to avoid it at all costs. He looks at each of his guests who look at him expectedly, his gaze reached yours and you glowed a little brighter as if to beg him to say the right thing.
“My court knows how I feel about war but… historically, you know I’ve always been loyal to the solar courts,” said Thesan.
You exhaled in relief and Rhysand’s relaxed demeanor returned. It wasn’t a clear “yes”, but it was much better than outright rejection. After the table was cleared, you offered a tour of the Palace and its grounds. Feyre gladly accepted and Thesan let you take the lead as you walked through the Palace. Staff, visiting nobles, and citizens both winged and non-winged, waved at your group and you waved back. The Night Court would nod and keep quiet, curious to see how your court was run. They decided that while Dawn Court was a little bit more formal, they saw that they had good relations with their people, and parts of the Palace were open for the public to enjoy, such as the library and gardens.
Rhysand was itching to talk about politics so after leading them to Thesan’s office, they walked in before Feyre insisted you finish the tour while the males talked about some stupid hunt, they had attended in Autumn Court a century ago. The Lord of Night gave her a look of longing before everyone parted ways, it was subtle, but you noticed it. Once the doors were shut and you walked a good distance from the door, you looked at Feyre with a sly grin.
“Is there something going on with Rhysand?” you asked casually.
She looked at you in shock, “No! What makes you say that?”
You made your way to show her the bedroom suites her court would be staying at.
“I can feel the attraction, you’re both constantly looking at each other.”
Feyre’s cheeks turned red. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. He’s the most insufferable person I know, I’m not sure how you can handle all that flirting. Besides, I should be the one asking about your obvious interest in Azriel.”
It was your turn to look stunned as Feyre smirked. “I’ve never met a shadowsinger before, it’s hard not to stare at the shadows moving around him. It’s-- unnerving.” You weren’t lying, it was one of the most peculiar things you’ve seen in your life. It didn’t help that he was the most beautiful male you’d ever seen, but his shadow’s movements and his piercing gaze were hard to ignore. You were still mad he got through the wards, you were hoping to talk to catch him off guard one day and ask him about his spying.
You find yourself getting along with the Cursebreaker even though you knew there were ulterior motives for her visit to Dawn Court. The rest of the day was spent roaming around the castle due to Feyre’s “curiosity”, it was tiring but it was better that you were present instead of Feyre going off by herself. It was becoming obvious that they were letting Feyre look for something and used their meeting with Thesan as a distraction.
***
After dinner, you found yourself feeling extremely restless once everyone retired to their rooms. Wrapping a shawl around your shoulders, you walked out of your chambers for a stroll around the Palace. You were making your way to one of the courtyards when you heard a whisper to your right. Looking at the spot, you see this wisp of a shadow and you huffed in annoyance.
“Show yourself,” you commanded, eyes focusing on a spot in the shadows. You couldn’t see anything, but you swear there was a figure somewhere in all that darkness.
Azriel froze, no one ever saw him when he was in the shadows, he was supposed to be undetectable. The High Lord of Night himself couldn’t see Azriel unless the shadowsinger made himself known but somehow, you saw him. Quickly removing the surprised look on his face, Azriel stepped out of his shadows and was met with your calculating gaze. He couldn’t help but think how beautiful you looked under the moonlight.
“Why were you following me?” Your voice was cold, and all traces of the gracious and friendly host were gone.
As smoothly as he could, Azriel said, “I wasn’t following you, I couldn’t sleep so I decided to go for a walk.” Azriel wanted to cringe, he was capable of infiltrating courts, but he was stumbling.
Detecting the blatant lie, your eyebrow quirked up unimpressed by the spymaster’s skills. You sized him up and then jerked your head towards some cushioned seating in the courtyard. “Come and have tea with me, I need to talk to you,” you said already walking away from him.
His footsteps followed you and it was only until he adjusted his wings and settled down on the cushioned seat that you conjured tea and cookies from the kitchen. You prepared your drink in silence, the both of you eyeing each other in anticipation of who would break the silence. He seemed content to sit there, so you sipped some tea before clearing your throat.
“What is the night court doing here, Azriel? Between you and me, I don’t think the three of you came here to talk about alliances and politics.”
His hazel eyes met yours, he didn’t think you’d be so blunt. “What makes you think that?”
“Your shadows,” you said watching the wisps dance behind him. “I caught them looking around the palace, what were you doing?”
He inhaled slowly, keeping his handsome face neutral. “I was just doing reconnaissance. Making sure no surprises were waiting for us in Dawn Court.”
A muscle in your jaw ticked, “My cousin may be stubborn at times, but we have always been loyal to the solar courts. After 50 years of chaos, how would we even have the time or energy to launch an assault on the Night Court? I don’t know how it is back at Night but we’re still rebuilding most of our cities.”
Azriel’s shadows swarmed around him as he guiltily thought about Velaris. How protected his city was from Amarantha’s wrath. “I was just doing my job. I apologize on behalf of Rhysand; we didn’t mean to offend you.”
“I think you were looking for something the other night,” you continued. “You know…you guys can just talk to us, right?”
The shadowsinger shifted in his seat, squirming under your attentive gaze. “We think Dawn Court is hiding something powerful,” he admitted before realizing what he said.
Azriel wanted to slam his head on the table, he couldn’t believe he just said that. He cursed himself for revealing any information, Rhysand had lectured Feyre on how to deflect questions, who knew the spymaster was the one to need a refresher? He looked at you with this renewed sense of realization, there was something different about you. Were you a siren? A witch? He was the best spymaster in all of Prythian and here he was spouting whatever came into his head. Even if this was his first time meeting you, Azriel felt as if he could trust Dawn Court’s second-in-command.
Fuck. They know we’re hiding something, you thought. Stirring more honey into your tea, you forced yourself to be nonchalant.
“That’s quite an accusation, shadowsinger,” you said coolly. “Something that you shouldn’t repeat in front of Thesan if you want a solid answer for our allyship.”
This must have been the strangest situation you’ve been in in a while. You and Azriel stared at each other, gazes burning, waiting to see who would reveal their secrets. The visible scars on his hands and wings told you that he has been a warrior his entire life. He was probably the most dangerous faerie you’ve ever met. This male had infiltrated the Palace and spied on you, that act alone should have pissed you off and made you hostile towards the male, but it didn’t. You were only intrigued by the handsome faerie in front of you.
Azriel smirked, “So, you’re not denying that Dawn Court is hiding something?” His voice came out in a taunting purr.
You think about the glamoured sapphires around your neck and the wings that hide beneath your skin, of that dark power that you have. This was why Thesan spent decades hiding you, so other courts and faeries weren’t going to be sneaking around and finding ways to utilize your gifts.
With a bored huff, you lean on the palm of your hand. “We have nothing to hide, Azriel. I think everyone’s just a little on edge after what happened Under the Mountain, scared that someone like Amarantha is going to wreak havoc on our frail country. We’re all feeling vulnerable which is why I think we should call it a night. Politics should be discussed with everyone present in a meeting room, not over tea and cookies.”
The shadowsinger doesn’t respond for fear he would say something stupid again. You had found a way to graciously end what could have been an ally-ending conversation and he was thankful. Who knows what he could have said, he might have even revealed the existence of Velaris or irritated Dawn Court’s 2nd to the point of no return. He stood up and gave you a courteous bow, but not without taking one last look at the strangely magnetic fae with the sharp eyes.
This is going to be an interesting few days you thought as Azriel walked away.
As he sauntered toward the direction of the guest suites, he could swear he could feel your gaze sear through his back. He wished he knew if it was curiosity or if you were imagining driving a knife through his back.

You tossed a crumpled ball of white mixed media paper over your shoulder unceremoniously for the umpteenth time that afternoon. Your eyes trailed to the glass window panes on the stone walls of NRC’s spacious attic-turned-elective classroom studio as you noted the spring sky’s robin-egg-blue hue dotted with wispy ivory clouds.
Around you stood adjustable dress forms draped with haphazard fabrics of students’ unfinished projects. Next to the dress forms were rectangular sewing tables with ruby pin cushions, cream sewing machines, and sewing threads of every color of the rainbow that were more than enough for fabled sewing mice to use.
Sigh. You turned your attention back to your mixed media sketchbook, flipping to a new page and tapping your pencil against it. I could use some fabled sewing mice to help me come up with a wedding dress design idea right now.
Your final assignment for Fashion Design class (a new elective class at NRC taught by Crewel) was to sketch a wedding dress design for the Fairy Queen, ruler of the Faeland’s fairies who held the recent Fairy Gala event in NRC’s Botanical Garden.
Ever since Ace, Jack, Ortho, and Silver were discovered by the fae at the event, the Fairy Queen grew enamored by their Fairy Gala outfits designed by Crewel. After the Fairy Gala, the Queen’s representatives sought out Crewel and asked him via translator bell to design a wedding dress for the Queen’s upcoming wedding to the Fairy Lord of Winter.
Crewel, who usually never turned down a challenge or opportunity related to fashion, thought this was an opportunity better suited for his Fashion Design students’ final assignments instead. The student whose sketch design gained the highest marks would be chosen to bring their wedding dress design to life with Crewel’s help. Crewel also emphasized the addition of extra credit points for the student whose sketch design would be chosen.
You didn’t want to pass up the chance to gain extra credit points to boost your overall GPA at NRC. Plus, it wasn’t everyday that one got to design a wedding dress for a Fairy Queen. What you didn’t anticipate, however, was that you’d have problems coming up with a wedding dress design in the first place.
There were just so many options when it came to wedding dress silhouettes, fabrics, and more. Puff sleeves? Tight sleeves? A ballgown skirt? A trumpet skirt? Chiffon? Lace? Tulle??
You wracked your brain, finding it difficult to commit to an idea when there were so many possibilities—the possibilities, not unlike the length of a wedding veil, were endless. Even all the episodes of “Say Yes to the Fairy Godmother’s Dress,” a bridal reality TV series you enjoyed watching with Cater, couldn’t help you think of an idea.
Instead of saying “yes” to a wedding dress idea, your head was filled with “no”’s to all your ideas. You let out another sigh and plopped your pencil down onto the sketchbook. Your eyes shifted to all the crumpled pieces of paper on the floor. I should clean this up.
Littering wasn’t helping you come up with any ideas either, so you decided to give yourself a teeny break and went over to pick up the three crumpled-up paper balls that laid a few feet away from your sewing table. You crouched down, your lips parting to hum a random song that just came to mind.
“Oi,” a voice called to you at the door, making you forget what song you were going to hum. Your eyes shot up to see Leona leaning against the door frame with his ever-so-smug smirk. Rather than one hand propped on his hip as usual, both of his arms bulged with two packaged sandwiches, various snacks, and two carton drinks from the Dining Hall.
You could tell that the smugness of his smirk came from how proud Leona was that he got lunch for the two of you on his own from the Dining Hall rather than Ruggie doing so, even if Leona overdid it a bit.
“Leona,” your face lit up at the sight of him nonetheless, and especially at the sight of lunch. Leona set down all the food at the nearest table, making his way over to you.
Bending down on one knee, Leona picked up all three balls of paper for you. “What’s got you litterin’ like there’s no tomorrow?” The lion beastman raised an eyebrow, his smirk softening into an amused smile as he stood up and threw the paper balls into a nearby recycling bin.
“Uuugh, I can’t think of a wedding dress to design for the life of me.” You joined Leona in grabbing all the food off the table before both making your way to your sewing table. He settled onto the wooden stool next to yours, his knees brushing against yours.
Leona’s emerald orbs settled on the blank paper of your drawing pad. “A wedding dress?” His fingers swiftly unfolded the sand-colored sandwich wrapping paper of a menchi katsu sandwich while you opened a (your favorite meat/veggie/filling) sandwich. The crinkles of the wrapping papers added to your chatting with Leona, making the classroom seem livelier despite it being just the two of you. “Who’s getting married?”
“The Fairy Queen from the Fairy Gala,” you tapped your pencil against your cheek while you held your sandwich in another hand. “She’s getting married to the Fairy Lord of Winter from a neighboring kingdom in a few weeks. She comes from a land of warmth, while he comes from a land of frost. They met last winter and fell in love despite all odds, so the theme Crewel gave us is ‘The Great Union That Defies All Odds.’ But how can I put that into a wedding dress?”
“‘The Great Union That Defies All Odds,’ huh?” Leona sipped his earl grey milk tea box, his thin dark-brown eyebrows knitting together as he pondered over the theme. “To me, that sounds like the impossible being possible.”
You paused your pencil midway before the pencil’s charcoal tip could land on the page. “Wait, you’re onto something,” you set the pencil down on the page and munched on your sandwich. “The Fairy Queen embodies spring, while the Fairy Lord of Winter embodies winter…You’d think nothing could bloom in winter, like their love, but it’s possible. Just like flowers that bloom in winter!”
Without a word, Leona pulled out his sleek ebony smartphone from his school uniform pants pocket and typed “flowers that bloom in winter” into MagiGoogle with one hand while still holding his sandwich in his other hand. You scooted on your stool closer to Leona, your shoulder touching his as the two of you scrolled down a list on MagiGoogle of all the flowers in Twisted Wonderland that bloomed in winter.
“Leucojum, camellias…,” you read the list aloud, none of them screaming “wedding” to you yet. “Wait!”
Leona paused his finger on the smartphone screen. “Did something in the list catch your eye?”
You nodded, leaning in closer to his smartphone screen. “Ornamental cabbage…it says here that the colors of ornamental cabbage grow more intense as the weather grows colder…which could be PERFECT for the ‘The Great Union That Defies All Odds’ theme!”
“I could use the ornamental cabbage as the main material for the Queen’s wedding dress, and have the colors be more vivid at the skirt of the dress like a gradient…,” your voice trailed off as you thought of possible wedding dress design ideas with ornamental cabbage. You finished off your sandwich with a hearty bite, now energized to start designing a wedding dress.
Leona lifted an eyebrow, but his lips quirked into a loving smile at your creativity. “Gotta tell you, herbivore, you know I’m not surprised by many things. But an ornamental cabbage wedding dress takes the cake. The wedding cake, heh.”
“Haha, you’re so punny.” You lovingly rolled your eyes at Leona, who simply winked at you and resumed eating his sandwich. “But now that I’m saying it out loud, ornamental cabbage might not be fitting enough for a queen’s wedding dress. It’s a good start for brainstorming, though.”
Leona finished his sandwich, dabbing a napkin against the corners of his mouth. “Why don’t ‘cha go with camellias? They symbolize romantic love, adoration, devotion, and care,” Leona listed off the symbolism of camellias as if remembering flower language and symbolism were the most casual things in the world.
Those who didn’t know Leona well would never guess that he was well-versed in flower language and symbolism. It was one of those well-hidden hobbies or topics of interest of Leona’s that he shared with you over time, and it added to one of the many things you loved about Leona: his love for the knowledge of topics that related to nurturing the world.
To Leona’s surprise, you brought your right hand up to rest it on top of his left hand—the hand you wanted to hold while you walked through life with Leona. “That sounds perfect.”
Leona slouched in his stool and nuzzled his cheek against the side of your head. His eyelids drooped as the daffodil-yellow afternoon sunlight danced through the glass panes of the classroom windows, adding to the warmth that embraced Leona with your hand on his.
You rested your head on his shoulder, closing your eyes to enjoy the moment as well. The fact that it was just you and Leona in the room, with comfortable silence now between you two as you basked in each other’s company, made a melody bloom from your mouth.
“Mm, mmm, mmm, mm,” You began humming the melody of the song you were going to hum before Leona came in. It was a song known throughout Twisted Wonderland about bringing all species—no matter how great the odds were—together.
Leona’s lion ears flicked at your humming as your lips parted.
“I’m on your side, let’s take this ride.”
Your singing voice possessed a softness to it, yet the lyrics you sang were loud enough for Leona’s ears and heart to hear.
“And together we’re facing the world, doing things nobody’s done before.”
With your right hand still on Leona’s left hand, you used your thumb to draw circles across the somewhat-dry skin of his hand. Your thumb moved upwards to massage his fingers—first his pinky, and then his ring finger.
Before you could massage his other fingers, Leona flipped his hand up so that his palm faced yours, and he intertwined his fingers with yours. His fingers wasted no time in giving yours a firm yet gentle squeeze. The lyrics you sang made Leona think about you—how he too wanted to hold your hand while walking through life with you.
It was your hands, with always the most loving and caring of even the smallest of touches, that helped him gain the courage to want to care for his own life—from the days where you would brush away a crumb from the corner of his mouth with the back of your thumb, to the nights where you would thread your fingers through his mane during the rare times he had trouble falling asleep.
It was those touches from your hands that motivated him to bring to surface and share with you and others his interests, passions, and just anything genuine that Leona thought he had given up hope for or thought he kept hidden painfully well for a long time now.
Because why nurture anything in an endless winter of being overlooked and compared to, with none of his achievements or even actions mattering for as long as he could remember?
His endless winter wasn’t endless anymore, replaced by the blooms of Leona sharing his passions and interests with others (such as teaching you about flower language and symbolism or about the stars, or spending more time with his Magift Club teammates by watching Pro Magift games with them) that led to his experiences over the past year at NRC with those he could now confidently call his loved ones.
While being each other’s most significant loved ones, you and Leona weren’t perfect, and the two of you had your fair share of squabbles from time to time. At the end of any squabble, however, the two of you would always communicate, take each other’s hands, and choose to be part of each other’s lives.
Leona cracked his eyes open, taking in the view that was your hand in his. It was your hands, soft and warm as spring, that never failed to make Leona feel safe, loved, and supported. He wanted his hands to make you feel the same way for the rest of your life.
The first thing you saw when you opened your eyes only a few minutes later was Leona admiring your hand in his. When his eyes shifted to meet yours, you returned his squeeze with your own before gently prying your fingers away from his. “I should get started on my drawing.” You wanted to keep sitting there with your hand in Leona’s, but the lunch period was probably ending soon.
Propping his right elbow up on the table, Leona rested his cheek against his palm and watched you etch light charcoal lines onto your paper.
A low hum rose from his throat. “Mm mm mm mmn.” The light scratches of your pencil against the paper created an odd harmony with his low humming, but your smile at his humming encouraged Leona to keep going.
In a near whisper, he sang the same lyrics you sang to him just moments ago in his baritone singing voice that never failed to soothe you.
“I’m on your side, let’s take this ride.”
To Leona, the lyrics sounded like a marriage proposal disguised in a song. He wondered if you thought that, too, with the way the song came to your mind earlier in the midst of coming up with a wedding dress design for the Fairy Queen.
“The Great Union That Defies All Odds.” It was the theme that symbolized the Fairy Queen and the Fairy Lord of Winter’s love story, but the theme made Leona reflect on your and his love story.
The love story of a human from a magic-less world and a lion beastman from a magic-filled world, where they experience adventures and chaos practically every day on the campus of NRC.
No matter what life threw at you and Leona everyday, the two of you chose to stay by each other’s side.
Hand-in-hand, through it all.
Leona cracked a grin while singing when you parted your lips to join him.
“And together we’re facing the world, doing things nobody’s done before.”
If his relationship with you wasn’t a great union that defies all odds, Leona didn’t know what was.

PASSING NOTES WITH STRAY KIDS! (₊ ❀ ۫ )
the silly love notes skz pass you in class.
Tumblr media
genre: high school au fluff, established relationship
warnings: none
word count: 1.7k
fae's notes: this is me indulging myself by writing out the high school love story i never had lmao hope y'all enjoy this, it was so fun writing it!
Tumblr media
( ˘ ᵕ˘(˘ᵕ ˘) . . CHAN
chan is a bit messy when it comes to passing you notes in class. this description encompasses quite a lot of the process—he sloppily tears off the edge of a page from his lined notebook and jots down a quick little message. then he crumples it up into the tiniest ball of paper imaginable and just throws them at your head. it wouldn't even matter if he was sitting an aisle away from you or if he were on the other end of the classroom, that paper ball is hitting you right on the head. when you unfold his notes most of the time, you don't really know what to expect. sometimes it's a very badly drawn doodle of you focusing in class, sometimes it's a corny pick-up line, or sometimes it's just a short and sweet "i love you", or "you look so pretty today" or "we're too far apart". he loves watching you as you read his message in real time. the way you chuckle to yourself and just continue smiling as you write down your response on the same paper. he's always very careful to not get caught, though.
( ˘ ᵕ˘(˘ᵕ ˘) . . MINHO
minho is most definitely not someone who's cheeky enough to constantly send little notes your way in class, unless it's about something important that he can't actually verbalise in the moment. besides, class is practically the only time he's not spending with you whenever you're both at school anyway, so to him it's a bit inconsequential. but he does write these notes every now and then, taking his stack of post-it's and neatly writing a short message, folding the paper and sliding it across your table top without ever breaking his eye contact from the whiteboard. if you were quick enough sometimes, you'd even catch him smirking ever so slightly from the corner of your eye. his notes tend to be brief little reminders too, for example: "you haven't had a single sip of water in past two hours. please don't forget to drink some." but perhaps your favourite has always been: "you have ink smudged on your left cheek right now. it was so cute i didn't tell you for a full hour. sorry. but you really need to wipe it off now."
( ˘ ᵕ˘(˘ᵕ ˘) . . CHANGBIN
changbin is a bit more mischievous with his notes. he absolutely sucks at paying attention in class for any longer than 20 minutes at a time, so that has always been a pretty solid indicator of when you're due to receive the next note from him. he loves writing stupid, mostly inconsequential questions and giving you the yes or no options in checkboxes for your response. for example, he'd ask things like "do you think my hair is pretty today?" or "do you want to go for dessert after school today?" or "do you still like me?" if he's in an especially good mood, he'd even add little hearts, sparkles and other doodles around the tiny piece of scrap paper just for that extra flair. his handwriting is pretty comparable to chicken scratches too, so it was a bit tough to read at first (plus the fact that he usually writes without focusing too hard on it to avoid getting caught by the teachers), but you eventually understood it perfectly. your favourite? it was the one he sent your way without even a single word – it was just a very badly drawn doodle of a kissing emoticon.
( ˘ ᵕ˘(˘ᵕ ˘) . . HYUNJIN
hyunjin puts phenomenal effort into his notes to you. when he first started passing notes over to you between classes—and this was in the early stages of your relationship, too—he'd tear off a corner of his notebook to use as scrap paper, but now he brings a dedicated stack of post-it's to school with him everyday for the sole purpose of giving you pretty notes. he uses his favourite pens and favourite highlighters for these notes, and carefully puts pen to paper to write out whatever message he had for you in the prettiest possible handwriting. you being the ever sentimental one, you have kept each and every note hyunjin has given you, so they all made for a really pretty collection. you both share a desk in class anyways, so all he had to do was gently use his index finger to tap your arm, and silently slide the neatly folded note across to your side of the table. in the messages themselves, hyunjin always somehow says both the sweetest and stupidest things to you in said notes. "we're having lunch together today, right? i brought your favourite banana milk," he wrote one day; you remember feeling really touched that he remembered you raving about banana milk just the week prior.
( ˘ ᵕ˘(˘ᵕ ˘) . . JISUNG
jisung is a bit more... creative with his notes. he loves flirting with you by teasing you and using disgustingly corny pick-up lines on you. the funniest thing about this is that no matter how cheesy and hackneyed these pick-up lines get, he knows you love them. your favourite? "if you were a fruit, you'd be a fine-apple," he wrote once, handwriting a bit outlandish and goofy, little apples doodled around the text. it elicited a little snort from you when you read it which of course he picked up, only because he was staring so intently at you from across the room so he could see your reaction. he also has his sincere, sweet moments: "i was staring at you the entire time during physics. you are the prettiest person in the universe. i love u so much!" with a little heart at the end. you keep that note in your wallet so you'll have it with you at all times. the way he gets these notes across to you is also hilarious and so very jisung – since you were both sat at opposite ends of the classroom, he would pass his messy little pieces of paper to his classmates, forming an assembly line of messengers before it reaches you. you use the same assembly line back. they always groan about how gross you both are, but everyone secretly thinks you both are romantic for doing so. he also gets caught very often – he was even forced one of his notes read aloud to the class once as punishment.
( ˘ ᵕ˘(˘ᵕ ˘) . . FELIX
he actually confessed to you via a note he passed to you in class. felix was too scared to tell you himself – he likes you so much he wouldn't know how to react if you rejected him to his face. you also started getting to know each other through notes, weirdly enough – although prior to this you've just been regular classmates sat beside one another who asked each other the basic stuff like what's the homework for the day or what's going to come up in the biology test. but felix had actually took the leap to develop your relationship from acquaintances to friends when he slipped you a little piece of paper asking if you wanted to play tic-tac-toe because he was bored. the rest was history. when he confessed to you, you weren't actually at your table – you had gone down to the cafeteria for lunch break. he took the opportunity to slip his note beneath a textbook you'd left on top of your desk, the corner of the paper peeking out. you had arrived back from lunch before felix did, and immediately noticed it. "i really like you. like like you. i really really hope you like me back too. check this box if you wanna go out with me, maybe for a movie?" safe to say, felix returned to a blushing, smiling you, who avoided eye contact with him the entire time, and the same note tucked beneath his pencil case with the box checked.
( ˘ ᵕ˘(˘ᵕ ˘) . . SEUNGMIN
seungmin loves to send you little doodles, of course amid little messages here and there. but mostly doodles. he usually gets bored in class very easily due to his short attention span (so do you), so he pulls out his post-its to start sending you notes. it's like playing a game of paper charades – he sends you little doodles of coded messages for you to decipher. once, he drew a little bowl of ramen and a clock with the minute and hour handles pointing to the time class ended, so you immediately knew he was asking you out for a bowl of ramen after the day was done. but sometimes he does write out a short and sweet message, mostly to bicker with you. "stop looking so good. i can't concentrate in class. if i don't pass this pop quiz you owe me a meal on our next date," his note read. you looked back at him to blow him a raspberry, and he's just playfully scowling the whole time. or the other time he wrote: "lemme copy your notes from today? i'll reward you with lots and lots of kisses. pwease ^__^" that's his way of being cute with you – you obviously have no choice but to oblige, right?
( ˘ ᵕ˘(˘ᵕ ˘) . . JEONGIN
like hyunjin, he's meticulous and intentional when passing you notes. he loves doing so – he's more of a romantic than he'd ever admit – but not as frequently as you'd think. jeongin is studious, so he usually pays close attention in class, but when he does find himself with nothing else to do, he'll take the opportunity to communicate with you through notes. they are always endearingly cheesy and playful – "u are the grill to my cheese sandwich babe," he once wrote, because he noticed you were having one during lunch break earlier. "but next time share it with me plz." he's also kind of ironically poetic, which you absolutely love. "ps: read this in a french accent please. i love you (smooch smooch smooch) you set my soul on fire (smooch smooch smooch)" when you look back up at him to laugh, jeongin is already dramatically sending you air kisses, lips puckered and eyes shut tight, as he quietly kisses the air in your direction. when he opens his eyes, you pretend to catch them in the air and throw them out the window. he clutches his chest in fake pain but you always send each other lovesick smiles after. the rest of your classmates think you guys are endearingly gross. so does your homeroom teacher but mostly because you remind him of his own high school sweetheart.

Tease Tidbit Tuesday
Tagged by @daffi-990 @disasterbuckdiaz @hippolotamus ✨️😘
I've been tagged by so many great people over the past couple of weeks but have been very lax with participating/interacting. Lots going on in life rn but I appreciate every single person who continues to tag me. I love reading your stuff when I can!!
Anywho, this is from what I'm calling the Chris forbids Buddie fic for now. Basically, what if Chris found out about Buck's feelings for Eddie and was against them dating. This will cover the fallout of that decision, the angst, and the eventual HEA of course. For now, here is a small snippet for you
“How do you know if you love someone?” That is certainly not where Buck thought the conversation was headed when Chris said he wanted to ask him something. He’d never expected to have to discuss something so broad and complicated with his favorite kid in the world today. Not when Eddie had left to run some errands and Buck had offered to stay so Christopher could finish his homework that morning. And not several hours later sitting at the dining room table learning to make origami figures. “Uh, where’s this coming from, bud?” Buck puts the piece of paper in his hands down in an effort not to crumple it between his fists. He might be hoping he can stall just a bit. It’s not that he doesn’t have an answer, it’s just that anything he says might be a little too close to the truth. Chris is a smart kid, if Buck says the wrong thing, he will almost definitely piece together that Buck is talking about someone in particular. “Are you, um, having feelings? Something more than friendship?” If the answer to either of those questions happens to be yes, Buck thinks this conversation should probably wait until Eddie can be involved. “No.” Buck breathes a sigh of relief for all of two seconds before Chris goes on. “I mean, I don’t think so.”
No pressure tagging 💙

Fae/Foster AU where foster kid!Tommy doesn’t realize the Watsons are Fae.
Sure, they have rules. But with how kind they’ve been, Tommy’s wholeheartedly okay with following them.
Even when they start to feel achingly like punishments.
It’s nothing more than he’s experienced before.
Sure, they call him ‘Theseus’ and never ‘Tommy,’ but it’s nice. He has food, even if the Watsons don’t cook for him — and he’s still allowed to sit at the table.
They don’t give him gifts.
But he still tries to give them one.
Earrings.
They each have one, emeralds & gold. That’s what drives Tommy to buy his own quartet of little colorful jewels, each hanging from steel loops.
But his excitement fades fast as he climbs the stairs to Wilbur’s room.
*They're going to hate it.*
Maybe it’s an unfounded fear. But maybe it isn’t.
They’ve said they enjoy his company. They’ve smiled at him, hugged him, laughed at his jokes.
But it still burns whenever he’s shunted to the side, excluded from meals by someone’s, “Sorry, Thes. It’s nothing personal.”
He knocks on Wilbur’s door, the earrings clutched in one palm.
He’s not playing guitar — if he was, Tommy would’ve been urged outside, no matter how assured Wilbur he’d love his music.
The door swings open.
Wilbur is *furious.*
That’s what it seems like, at least. All baggy eyes and pinched expression.
And a grimace that morphs into a sneer as he sees Tommy.
Or rather, the earrings in his hand.
“I— I got you guys a gift.”
Tommy holds them out, and Wilbur hisses in… pain?
“They’re— I thought you’d like them?” Tommy flinches. “To go with your family’s emeralds?”
*To show I'm family, too?*
“Oh, for fuck’s sake. Get those out of here, *now.*”
Tommy recoils, paling, barely managing to ramble.
“Would— would Phil want them? Or Techno? You don’t have to like them, I just thought— I didn’t mean to—”
“No, they won’t,” Wilbur snaps, pinching his brow. “Get them out of this house, *now.*”
So Tommy runs.
(And Wilbur realizes too late to stop him.
The earrings were steel, an iron alloy. That’s why Wilbur’s head had been aching all day, why the air burned when Tommy held out his gift.
Why he’d snapped at a kid that adored him, why Tommy’s face had crumpled.
Why he’d run away.)

Cursed with the Gift of Reincarnation Ⅱ
author note: omg take this away from me, this fic has had my fighting for my life o(>< )o the amount of technical difficulties i have suffered through trying to write this almost made me shelve it bc i genuinely started to think that it could be cursed too, like reader! so glad i can finally post it now, pls next part don't be mean to me like this, oof.
Please note that this is a female character.
characters: Lilia Vanrouge x F!Fae Reader
Tumblr media
“Sssh Lilia, someone will hear us!”
“It’s not a problem as long as they don’t see us.”
“That’s not true and you know it!”
Despite your retort, you laughed unabated, and the sound was music to his ears. If Lilia could indulge himself in your laugh with every second of his day, he would. He reached out towards you, intent on pulling you away for a dalliance before your duties could seize hold of you again, when a loud bang rang through the air.
Lilia watched as you froze, the mirth draining from your expression as slowly, crimson began to seep through the crisp white of your blouse. The scenery around you changed, from vibrant glades to war torn fields, and he watched you crumple. No...
No, no, no, no.
Lilia ran towards you, but every step he took, you seemed to get further away. He cursed through gritted teeth and pushed himself harder, faster, he’d reach you if it was the last thing he did--
Lilia’s eyes snapped open, and he stared at the blank canopy above his bed. His breathing was uneven, his chest tight with residual panic, brow damp with sweat. He puffed out a long breath he didn’t even realise he was holding, his head thumping back down into the pillow.
The nightmares had returned. Plaguing his dreams like demons, even when he knew what he was seeing was not true, he couldn’t help but hope, to believe that maybe if he was just a little faster, he could save you this time... He bitterly wondered if this was a side effect of the gift of reincarnation, to dangle your memory like fruit in front of him before snatching it away.
It was no surprise as to why the nightmares had reared their head after so long. In his mature age, it was rare for much to surprise Lilia. But you, standing on the very drawbridge of their dorm in the College’s ceremonial robes had almost held the power to petrify him. He had searched for you so long, only for you to stroll very literally into his home...
Lilia sighed again as he slipped out of bed, leaving his bedsheets disheveled as he moved towards his nightly safe space - his computer. Lilia settled down in his chair as he waited to his computer to start up, sluggishly preparing to fall back into the routine of gaming through the night. At least if he stay awake, he could attempt to push back the endless loop of your death...
Tumblr media
You shuffled down the corridor, a steaming mug of fresh tea in your hands as you made your way back to your dorm room. Your phone had told you that it was around 3am when you had tossed yourself awake, feeling worse than you had felt before you had gone to bed.
Since you had arrived at this place, at Night Raven College, your sleep had been disturbed. Some nights you would dream of faceless figures and shifting landscapes, with conversations that sounded more like riddles than anything you could follow. No matter how much you dreamed, you could never figure out what was going on around you. Other nights, you'd simply toss and turn, entirely unable to sleep. Often, you wondered if you should tell the Regent about it, if perhaps maybe some magic on campus was interacting with you strangely or something, but an odd feeling in your stomach stopped you every time.
You were shaken from your thoughts by a dull thud reverberating. You perked up, trying to locate where the sound came from. It seemed to come from the room you just passed... Wasn't that Lilia's room? He was still awake?
Slowly you crept towards his door, knocking softly upon it only to jump at the sound of another dull thud, louder this time. Twisting the door handle, you cracked the door open, only to be surprised by the sight before you.
Lilia... With one foot on his desk... Curled over a bright screen?!
"Sen--" You went to whisper yell, only to be shocked again when Lilia's head snapped towards you, his eyes showing a sliver of surprised before he hushed you and gestured for you to enter. You almost spilt your tea as you scrambled through the door, your confusion making your actions sloppy as you pushed closed the door.
"Sorry dear, I'll be right with you. My party is full of pups, and we'll lose this raid if I don't pull through." Lilia called over his shoulder, a frantic clicking following his words as he remained focused on the strange bright screen in front of him. It looked a little like your phone but... Bigger. Brighter.
... Party? Pups? Raid? What in the Sevens was he talking about?
With great trepidation, you crept towards Lilia and peeked over his shoulder and get a better look at the strange, bright screen. The sight only boggled your mind further. The screen showed a team of tiny people, fighting some sort of... Gigantic beast? You couldn't help but pinch your cheek to check if you were somehow dreaming again.
You watched on in stunned silence until a victory message eventually popped up on the screen, with Lilia reclining back in his chair in satisfaction. As if suddenly remembering your presence, Lilia turned to you with a pleased grin on his face, "sorry about that, dear. Did you need something?"
You blinked at him dumbly, your shell-shocked expression only making Lilia's grin widen, "d-did you... Did you shrink those people and put them in that... That thing?" You gestured to the larger screen behind him, and Lilia couldn't help the laugh that passed his lips, slowly growing into a cackle as he doubled over in his chair.
You puffed out your cheeks, exasperated by his reaction, "hey! I thought you were getting attacked in here, or something!" Your words only made Lilia laugh more, and you set a hand on your hip as you waited for him to regain composure over himself. Wiping a tear from his eye, Lilia looked up at you, a smug grin on his face, "oh? Were you coming to save me?"
You narrowed your eyes playfully at him but decided to ignore his jibe, instead focusing your attention back on the mysterious screen behind him, "you didn't answer my question, what is... That?" Lilia seemed to find your confusion endearing, as his smug smile turned into a softer one.
"This is my computer. I'm quite the gamer, you know. It's like your phone, right? But more powerful." Lilia explained, and you tilted your head. "If it's more powerful, why didn't the Regent give me one of those instead?" You asked with your brow furrowed, and Lilia gave another amused laugh, "Well, it may be more powerful but a phone is much more convenient. It's not like you can fit a computer in your pocket... Actually," Lilia spun on his chair, so he could get a better look at you, "I'm surprised that your Regent sent you here with a phone. That's a rather technologically savvy move that us fae aren't known for."
You took a sip of your tea and gave a nod, "yeah, but he didn't teach me how to use it though." You shrugged, rather non-comital, something that Lilia picked up on. If he asked you about your Regent or the Sombre Wilds in general, you sometimes clammed up, giving vague answers or changing the subject. Lilia often wondered if you'd been told to keep quiet.
"Anyway... Why are you still awake, dear? It is rather late..." Lilia asked, changing the subject for you this time. You lifted your mug to your lips, concealing the lower half of your face from Lilia's scrutiny as you toyed with taking another sip, "I couldn't sleep." You answered simply, letting your eyes wander around the room in an attempt to find something to change the subject to. As a result, you missed the subtle change in Lilia's expression, the way his brow furrowed at your words before it smoothed back into neutrality.
"What a coincidence, I was also having a spot of trouble sleeping." Lilia gave you a small smile as you turned your attention back to him, nodding sympathetically. "Is that why you were being a gamer?" You asked, the sincerity in your tone causing Lilia to snort again. You were just too cute.
"That is exactly why," Lilia agreed, not having the heart to tease you when you acted this adorably, "come, I can show you, if you wish?" Lilia swiveled back towards his screen and began clicking away again, and you took a further step forward. Well, it's not like you had any other plans...
Tumblr media
You blinked blearily as you felt a nudge against your arm. It was Sebek, getting your attention as you'd apparently missed Trein announcing the end of class. Slowly, you began to pack away your textbooks, Sebek standing awkwardly beside you, pink dusting his cheeks as he valiantly tried his best not to look at you.
... He'd been acting like that since this morning.
It had been Sebek's booming voice that had shaken you and Lilia from your accidental nap, propped up against each other as you both shared his desk chair. In fact, if it hadn't been for Lilia's swift hands catching hold of you, you'd have toppled right off of the chair in surprise. You don't even remember falling asleep, and the same could be said for Lilia if his surprised expression was any evidence.
... You supposed you couldn't really blame Sebek for his behaviour when he had seen you emerging from Lilia's bedroom, looking fairly disheveled. But the lecture? The lecture was entirely unwarranted! You had to suffer through your rushed breakfast and the entire walk to morning class being grilled about what you were doing in Master Lilia's bedroom at such early hours, before being lectured about proper courtship conventions. Which was ironic, considering the one who had taught him these courtship conventions he spouted was Lilia.
In frustration, you had ended up shouting at him that whatever you and Lilia did in your private time was none of his business, which on reflection just incriminated you further, and left Sebek spluttering with pink cheeks for the rest of the day. It only got worse when Lilia didn't turn up for lunch, you were sure you could see the scandalised cogs in Sebek's brain turning as he wondered what awful things you did to Lilia that made him unable to attend lunch at their usual table. Even Silver picked up on Sebek's uncharacteristic silence, not that he minded.
You yawned as you made your way back to the Hall of Mirrors, glad to have waved goodbye to Sebek as he rushed off faster than you'd ever seen him to his club activities for the rest of the afternoon. You mulled over the events of the night. You had stayed in Lilia's room, eventually sharing his desk chair as he talked you through the game he was currently playing. You didn't really get it, but it was oddly relaxing. So relaxing, in fact, that you must have drifted off... It felt somewhat strange to you, if you were honest. The whole reason you ended up in Lilia's room was because you couldn't sleep, so to fall asleep sitting upright when you were struggling to do that laying in bed was a rather bizarre turn of events. Were you truly that tired that you didn't notice? After all, you hadn't gotten a full night's sleep in quite a while...
You continued to ponder this as you walked through your dorm towards your dorm room, paying no mind to your surroundings. You shook your head with a sigh as you pushed open your bedroom door, perhaps you were indeed just that exhausted. Maybe you should visit the infirmary after class tomorrow, maybe they could offer some help...
You locked your dorm room door behind you after you entered, another yawn slipping from your lips as you turned to go to your bed, planning to at least try to get more sleep. However, a slim object sitting on top of your pillow caught your attention. You approached closer, curiosity piqued as you reached for the object. It was sleek, a subtle green and pink colour scheme being its more noticeable feature. You turned it in your hands, trying to figure out what is was. You even shook it, holding it close to your face to see if anything would happen with it. It was by complete mishap that your finger pushed open the object, and your heart plummeted as you thought you may have broken it, before soaring when you caught a glimpse of what it was.
It looked similar to the computer that Lilia had in his bedroom, but more compact and... Foldable? Suddenly, the green and pink motif that themed the object made sense... Had Lilia put this here? For you? You felt your cheeks heat up at the thought, a warm smile slipping over your lips before you could stop it.
Stroking a thumb affectionately across the keys of this curious new object, you set to work trying to figure out how to make it work, the previous plan to sleep completely forgotten. So distracted in your vigour to learn how to work your new device, you were completely oblivious to the little bat that had taken refuge on the top of your open window frame, fluttering off discreetly into the misty skies...

║Lilia Vanrouge║ I Can’t Love You for an Eternity
Reader: No pronouns or description used. Gender neutral.
Warning(s): None
Who would believe that this short fae with a frail-looking body and a doll-like face is the terrifying general that history books speaks of? It was hard to imagine just by that alone, but seeing him become putty in your hands? No one would have even brush the surface of that topic.
So here he was, the Lilia Vanrouge whose name alone would have made history quiver in fear, submitting himself to your love, answering to your beck and call whenever.
“My dear, would you care to accompany this old fae for a stroll in the botanical garden?” He looks on in expectancy with that smile you love so much. That smile that would make you go against the heavens should they take it away. So with that said, you nod without needing a moment to think.
The school’s garden was really breathtaking and the flora grown in them were nothing like what you’ve seen back home. You enjoy these walks with Lilia because you’d have the opportunity to take a break from your work and simply relax with him and admire the flowers.
“My dear, I don’t suppose you know what this flower is?” Lilia points to a flower that has a deep shade of red whose petals look like it is made out of crystals. The light was bouncing off of it and revealed beautiful rainbow colours hidden within them.
To no one’s surprise, you shook your head. “Kufufu, then it would be my pleasure to tell you that it is poisonous for humans,” he muses and takes a mischievous glance at you. You sweatdrop. Who knew that a pretty flower could be so dangerous? “But do not worry, it is only if you hold it for long periods of time and handle it without care.
“I do believe that the students of Pomfiore quite prefer using this since its petals offer both medicinal properties from the stems and poisonous traits from its petals that becomes more potent when its crushed,” he says with the knowledge of an ancient. “It’s quite the deadly flower for they are a backstabbing bunch. They prefer to watch the slow process of death and for a long time, households could not find an answer as to why their family is dying one by one, kufufu.” A closed fist covers his smile as he laughs. Without even knowing it yourself, you couldn’t contain a smile of your own. Yes, with him, it was like a never ending dream. Everything he told you would make you smile, even the weird things he would say. It could just be because spending time with him was everything you could ever ask for.
You hope that it will be like this for eternity.
—
“Let’s breakup.”
You could hear a pen drop somewhere further down the halls in one of the classrooms as you felt your heart drop. That was how silent it was in the room.
When the words finally finish processing inside your head, your eyes became frantic as it enlarges. So many questions pops up into your head but you couldn’t even find it in you to voice them orderly when all you want right now is him, “.. Why?” Your mouth hunts ajar when a single tear slips down your cheek.
Lilia bit the inside of his cheek yet his face remain unreadable to you, a shadow casting over his eyes that made him look heartless and cold. In fact he turns his face to the side so you couldn’t read his face at all. He was not the Lilia you were so familiar with. “Why, why, why?” You sobbed, “I-is it something about me that you don’t like? Am I too loud? Too quiet?
“Is it because I don’t know many things about this world? I-I’ll study hard so I can k-keep up a conversation with you..! I’ll change, please!” You push yourself to his chest and curled your fists into his uniform, crumpling it and ruining his prestige image of an NRC student. “Please, I’ll do anything you ask! Ju-just don’t leave me..”
You stare pleadingly at him. One tear turned to two and two to three and so on. His jaws tightened and he couldn’t help but turn slightly to look at you. However, this only made him flinch and turn away. He couldn’t stand tears. His nose crinkles and his brows furrowed all the while he keeps his mouth shut.
For just a moment, you saw how much he was in pain so why was he doing this to himself? To you? “Please, you have to talk to me..” Your head hangs low, still gripping onto his shirt tightly, afraid that he will walk away and leave you if you let go or relax just a bit.
You hear him let out a shaky breath and hold onto both of your wrist, but just for a short second until he forces you to detach yourself from him so seamlessly. Your eyes widened but now, you could properly see his eyes. It was dull and looked like it belonged to a heartless murderer out on the field. What scared you most about it was that it was a fitting look on him. It was as if he had this on for a long time that it became natural. Moreover, it hides so many thoughts and mixed feelings from you such as the pain he feels just by doing this. You were unable to decipher any of it.
“There is nothing wrong with you so please do not degrade yourself..” He says coldly and smoothies out his uniform. “So why..?” Your voice croaks. He goes back to staring at the ground beside you but still answers, “I simply cannot love you for an eternity.”
So that was that, one supposes. It took some time for you to get out of bed each day and talk to your friends as if nothing was wrong, but humans are fickle creatures whose hearts can easily be molded and find it in them to open them to others once more. Over time, you healed. To be more accurate, you put your heart together again, but once broken will always be broken. There were cracks that would obviously never heal.
This was good. After all, he hated the way you look during those days where you looked hopeless, when the eyes the held a promise to the world looked so lifeless.
Two orbs with deep shades of red- that one can say to be crimson- watches a certain someone from the shadows. It watches as they approach a taller male.
There was some inaudible chatter as words were being passed along. Then there it was, a laugh. It was a laughter that it was most familiar with. The sound of a past history that it wishes to relive again but knows that it shouldn’t dream of such a thing. The laughter from someone who it cannot hold in its arms any longer.
“[Name], do you want to walk in the garden with me?” Ah. Just the mention of your name already has this old fae’s heart beating rapidly, but it was a name he can no longer say so lovingly. The male with you has a deep and velvety tone that could just possibly woo anyone. His smile can be considered charming in its own way.
He wears the uniform of Octavinelle, the fae ponders from behind a tree. “I believe that this is the twin named Jade..” He mumbles, cross examining the description that matches the correct Leech twin.
He sees your head slightly nods. Could it be that you are hesitant to go into the garden? He found it hard to go in there himself as well. It does bring melancholic memories.
Jade offers a hand to which you take and allow yourself to be swept away.
This is fine, Lilia thinks. Jade, he knows- despite the rumours about the eels- is dependable and honest. He is protective when it comes to his loved ones, especially his brother whom he does his best to make sure he doesn’t get into too much trouble. He is organized and a good influence. What’s more, he has a lifespan similar to that of a human.
“Do you know what this flower is, [Name]?” Jade points towards a flower whose colour was a deep blue; a royal blue. “It has a pleasant smell that is used in perfumes or tea to have a fragrant smell.
“More importantly..” Jade plucks the flower from its soil carefully and faces you properly. “It symbolizes deep admiration.”
This is fine.. This is good.
You can finally have that wish you’ve had where you can grow old with somebody you love fulfilled. A wish that is shared by many humans.
A nightmare.
In the midst of the ever peaceful night, the old fae was rudely awoken by a nightmare. Even as he gulped down a hefty amount of water in the Diasomnia kitchen to calm his nerves, he couldn’t stop the shaky breath that his lips slips out as he recalls that dream.
This dream, that dream.. He’s been having the same nightmare. Death. Death. Death. Death.
It’s inevitable, he knows that. He should know that very well. But when it’s about you..
“Father?”
A familiar voice that was evident that it is still going through adolescence drew his attention behind him. The light of the moon could faintly trace the outline of his son standing by the entryway to the kitchen. “Silver..” He takes a deep breath in and straightens his posture to properly greet him.
“What are you doing up so late?” He lets out a quivering breath. “You do know that it’s wrong to stay up late since it will take a toll on your body.
“This can’t do since you need an able body to protect Malleus.” His eyes pierces through the dim room and takes in the worried face that was on his son’s face.
“I woke up when I heard your door open and close,” Silver answers honestly. “Ah, then my apologies.. You must be tired so why don’t you go to back to bed?”
“I’m worried about you, father..” He confesses and walks closer so he could take a proper look at the way his face contorts in pain, totally disregarding the words his father said.
Lilia stares back at him with owlish eyes, the expressions he had earlier was nowhere to be seen. It was as if it wasn’t there at all. This should be something to be praised— how easy he can change his expressions to one that enemies would have a hard time reading— but it wasn’t. Not to the worries of Silver especially who awoke each night at the sound of a door open and closed, knowing that it was Lilia who came out.
“I think you should talk to [Name] about this..” He voices once he finds the right words and way to put his thoughts to light. “I do not know the suffering’s extent from this nightmare is, but talking it out might help.”
“Silver.” Lilia’s voice was stern as he looked at him with a serious look. Seriousness was hard to tie in with the current Lilia but Silver knows full well that he had reverted back to his general days at this moment.
The silver-haired boy gulps the lump in his throat and knows it was time to stop the chatter. “I’ll go to bed now.. Have a good rest, father,” with that, the young boy returns to his room with a faint click on his door, confirming that he has gone inside.
Death was not merely an acquaintance with the fae. He has seen lives taken away from the innocent and he took some himself. Even now, he is expecting that another life will slip through his fingers, knowing that Silver is human. However, when it came to you, it was hard.
In his long years, he had never had someone give him this fluttering feeling inside his chest. It was as if a thirsty flower being watered for the first time in so long suddenly blossom in glee. You make him feel like that.
However, a flower can’t have the same gardener for so long as they will perish while it is at a standstill and the only thing it could do is watch the world around them change.
I’m sorry I can’t grow old with you, my dear..
It is the first time he is feeling like this and so he’s confused— afraid. He is afraid. He is scared that if he loves you too much, he’ll be the one to turn the heavens upside down— tear it apart— should it be your time to part from the realm of the living.
But.. Maybe that was too late.
Watching over your sleeping figure, Lilia couldn’t help but think all these sorry thoughts. Thoughts of how he is a coward and a bad fae who could not grant you one, beautiful wish of wanting to grow old with him.
“I have failed you, my dear,” he whispers and caresses your face softly and carefully as if you were made of crystals. “I am the one to hurt you and make you shed tears, yet it is I who feels regret for allowing it to end the way it did..”
A tear. A single tear escapes through your shut lids, but you had this bittersweet smile. Could you have been dreaming of him? Are you dreaming— replaying— the sweet times that you two once shared?
Even now, when he is no longer a general, it was hard for Lilia to cry. But this heart of his cries. Cries out for your love that it knows is forbidden to it.
“Oh look, I seem to have made you cry even in the land of dreams where it should be happy..” He smiles bitterly. His hand halts its actions and then a faint glow emits from his palms.
“I, Lilia Vanrouge, present you the gift of love.. May you find it in your heart to love as big as you once did and hopefully find that very same love in whom you wish to spend the rest of eternity with..” After he said those words, the light gradually dims until it was dark in the room once more, save for the light of the moon.
It is only after seeing your face relax, did he part ways with you. “May you also never shed tears again and have beautiful dreams.”
He turns on his heels so that his back faces you. It was close to morning dawn and he had to retire back to his dorm to freshen up. This would be the last time he visits, he says a silent promise to himself, though it was half convincing. After all, you had found that someone and thus have no need for him anymore.
Before he leaves your room, he takes one more look at you and under his breath, he speaks with an aching heart, “Please forget how this unworthy old fae has taken your love for granted..”

A Dance Towards the Light
Tumblr media
Characters: Malleus Draconia.
Genre: AU, Romantic Fluff, Married life.
Summary: Wherein Malleus’s love for you was like dancing towards the light.
Warnings:
GN!Reader, is half fae half human but not mentioned.
Malleus is sunshine boy. Reader is the brooding/angsty partner, but no mention of angst.
Such a peculiar pair of lovers you were, you and Malleus Draconia, an ill-fated match made in heaven.
People mocked you that you wanted a tragedy, always taunting you that you will love him, and love him, and love him until it it kills you and destroys your heart beyond repair.
But they were entirely wrong.
With Malleus, you’ve fallen right into the love you’ve found.
His love was far from tragic. His love was beautiful beyond words, more beautiful than epic romance books and paperback fairytales.
When things ended for you, he was a fresh new start. He was the sun that rose in your life again.
He was everything you dreamed of.
He holds your hands during long walks until the sun sets.
He sits with you on a rooftop at one in the morning, and talks about how strange life is.
He dances with you when the sky is pouring rain.
He sends you lavender-scented love letters when he misses you during the days he can’t spend time with you.
He impresses you with his own composed songs, and serenades you with them late at night.
He writes stories about you, for you are his muse and writing is his favorite form of art.
He celebrates your happiness, respects your boundaries, and loves you greatly in the way you want to be loved.
People labeled your romance as straight out boring, utterly dull, and not worthy to gush about.
But what do they know? They only get a glimpse of the surface, but the depths of your bond was hidden from the prying eyes of repulsive onlookers.
A quiet, gentle, slow burn love was all you dreamed of, and those little moments were all you could ask for.
★ —
It was early Sunday morning when you woke up, sprawled on the wooden floorboards of the solarium.
The solarium was a dreamscape created by Malleus, a secret place where only the two of you had access to. It was a quiet place for you to rest in when the world gets too loud.
Slats of sunlight spilled dazzlingly through the cracks of the ceiling.
The room was drunk on the pleasant scent of lily of the valley, lilac and gardenia, pleasant enough to send a sense of tranquility through your body.
Blinking away the drowsiness, you rolled at your husband’s side, taking your time to marvel at his captivating beauty.
Malleus’s profile appeared so serene in the sunshine, his glorious black hair catching the bright rays, making him look like he was wearing a crown of daylight stars.
“The only thing I’ve been dreaming of is eternal happiness with you. It doesn’t have to be fancy or perfect.” Gazing at him, you hummed to the song that you sang to him on your wedding day. “The only thing I want is you. Don’t worry, l believe. Always, l believe. I won’t forget this moment. In my arms, l believe your smile will never lose its light.”
“Cause your love is so sweet, you are my everything. I’m not just saying this because I’m happy.” A soft sigh escaped your lips as you carried on. “I will never change, I won’t change. I’ll only have eyes for you.”
“You’re the light of my life, you’re the one in my life. Even if I lose everything, I will never regret it.” Malleus cut you off in a voice so entrancing. “And keep loving you with the everlasting love in my heart.”
“Why do you always interrupt me when it comes to that part?” you chortled, quirking a brow at your husband who just woke up.
Or maybe he was awake all along.
“Because that’s my favorite part.” Malleus replied delightfully, his smile caught in the sunlight, an alluring smile that puts you in a dreamy state.
You blushed in return with a bashful smile adorning your face.
“Did you stay up all night writing a book about me again?” you asked when your eyes landed on the pens and the crumpled papers scattered on the floor.
“You know that that’s one of my ways to get rid of the tiredness of my day, right darling?” Malleus raised his hand, blue ink-stained fingers tracing your face with utmost gentleness. “And who else am I going to write about? You’re my one and only muse.”
“What’s the story about this time?” Taking his hand in yours, you kissed the inked smudged spots.
“I wrote about how loving you is truly a magnificent and splendid adventure.”
A shy flutter touched your heart. Even after all those years, your husband still managed to steal your breath away like the first time you met him.
“My dearest king, am I truly worthy of the love you write about?”
You never doubted him, but a little reassurance wouldn’t hurt sometimes.
“Of course.” Malleus pressed a lingering kiss on your forehead, a kiss filled with a love so deep and sincere. “You’re my wonderfully chaotic partner. A beautiful perfectly put together mess. You’re always worth it to me.”
No doubt, even if you were a walking catastrophe, he would still choose you.
Even if the flowers wilt and the roses wither away, his love for you would keep on blooming.
Even if the stars burn out, he would be the light that never fades and he would still love you the same.
You’ve never heard a declaration of love so honest and so sweet, a love that has found a home within your heart and soul.
