and this week total is 1279 stitches in 6 and a half hours

Finished a thing today! First stitch started and finished in my new house. Now I'm caught in the conundrum of having made this for myself and the realization that it would also be a great gift for someone else. The challenge being that my track record for finishing projects I've already done once is non-existent. But it's a quick and simple enough pattern I might just have to give it a go.

The new house is amazing, but of course we've already identified some mild to moderate urgency changes and fixes to do but so far nothing outside of the realm of manageable once I have a steady income again. One thing I hadn't expected was to feel as at home in a new city as I have so far. But damn, once you get out of the immediate GTA the people just get so much nicer and less pretentious. I legit feel a little like a Hallmark Christmas movie character that's given up the Big Smoke for a good ol' small community.

I even bought two flannel shirts.

This is the status of my dino a-z project as of the end of 2023, I think I can deff finish this next year. It's deceptively time consuming though, each dinosaur is very confetti heavy, so many greys. But it's worth it and I'm very much so enjoying this project and can't wait to see if finished.

Month 4/August Update: sourgrass has bloomed, sent out seed pods (they pop!), and is now starting to be crowded out by larger, leafier plants.

Cross-stitch is still in good shape, with the beginnings of a layer of detritus forming around the edges of it.

I got back to stitching again and my current project is down to two colors! They are the two colors with the most stitches other than black, but i think i can still celebrate not having to carry around all the other colors anymore. I wanted to share my favorite stitching accessory in the mean time. It holds all my supplies and all of my bobbins even at the beginning of the project. so nice to have a tray to carry everything around and no i no longer lose my scissors! i got this one from tihembroidery on etsy but there are other options to choose from if you search "bobbin rack".
