I've advocated for the legitimacy and necessity of remaining anonymous in activism in previous posts, but today I'd like to illustrate for you how difficult it can be to create anonymity.
A couple people have also taken issue with my stance on "don't firebomb a Walmart," because they've interpreted that to mean that I don't believe in breaking the law (not true), and I think this example helps illustrate what I mean when I say "this is a surveillance society, and if you do something that big, you WILL be caught."
This is literally just from an episode of some crime show I caught: There was a string of bank robberies in the American Northwest (Washington/Oregon area I believe) that were attributed to a specific alt-right terrorist group that left a note with their symbol at each robbery. They were taking a stance against the American banking system (part of their beliefs were very anti-bank, anti-IRS, etc.) while gathering money for their group. They did this while in full masks, gloves, everything. One of the guys got convicted partially on the unique wear pattern on the seam of his denim jeans. He wore jeans to all the robberies. The seam of a pair of denim jeans wears uniquely on each pair, creating a band of white and blue stripes down the side. The police got him (fully covered and unidentifiable in any traditional way) on the bank camera, used an item in the bank that they measured the height of at the scene to get his height from the footage, figured out where the bands would fall on the jeans in-person, and then after they got probable cause from some other evidence (also fun - one of the other guys stood in a specific stance on camera that was taught in police academies in the 80's, narrowing down their search for members of the terrorist group who were cops during that time + their known associates), the police raided his house, found the jeans, and matched the pattern. That was a huge piece of evidence that helped convict that specific guy, who was hard to nail as the third man any other way.
You can be given away by the seam on your jeans, or the way you stand on camera.
So first of all, don't be part of an alt-right terrorist group because booo 👎. Second of all, don't do something like blowing up a Walmart as "a stand against capitalism" or robbing a bunch of banks as "a stand against the American banking system." Those systems are too big to be taken on in an acute way. If you think otherwise, please consider: Do you know the name of the guys who did these bank robberies? Do you know what the name of their organization is? If you do recognize either, did you learn about them anywhere other than a 30 minute show about crime? And most importantly, can you name something banks do as a result of these robberies that makes them better, more fair, or any less important to American life?

"she is fierce and first to defend me in my moment of trouble or need. her wit and laughter sustain me and never come at my expense. and when we part, there is no sadness because our bond is always there. she is not just my friend, she is a gift, both precious and rare." maura's poem about jane (yeah you read that correctly) (and their faces while it's being read) in 6x16

To See You Smile Part Two: Pancakes and Coffee (Warrick Brown CSI Request)
Pairing: Warrick Brown (CSI) x Reader
Word Count: 1k
Request: "Can I have pt 2 to my Warrick Brown request where after breakfast they go to his house and it leads to fluff smut (nothing to explicit) with [ TRAIL ] sender runs their finger down receiver’s spine + kisses down the body?"
Author's Note: Congratulations on 700 followers lovely! Here is my little gift to you and all the other Warrick Brown girlies <3
Tumblr media
Pancakes and Coffee:
You had always been told that dating someone you worked with was a bad idea; that it would make things awkward and complicated in a place that you needed to be able to focus in. But as you sat across from Warrick, easy conversation flowing across the table as he teased you for how much syrup you put on your pancakes and in return you insisted there was no way he actually enjoyed drinking coffee black, no first date had ever felt so easy. So when he asked you if you wanted to see his place before he drove you home, you couldn't say no.
"I wasn't expecting company after an 80 hour week, so apologies if it's a bit of a mess." He held the front door open for you as he rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed as if his home was anything other than spotless. Silver and chrome surfaces glistened like it was just a show home, the only personal touches a few framed photos of what must have been his family, and a surprisingly wide range of books littering his shelves.
"Are you kidding? A professional couldn't make my apartment look this neat!" You laughed, watching Warrick smile at the sound before gesturing to take your coat. You shrugged it off your shoulders, feeling a ripple of anticipation rising in your stomach as his rugged hand just slightly grazed the back of your arm.
"Why don't you take a seat, I'll make us some coffee, with cream I promise!" His joy was infectious as he moved through his small kitchen, seeming far more relaxed in his little home than he ever did in the lab. You watched his shoulders slide down his back as he got comfortable in his natural habitat, trying to settle yourself down as well by picking one side of a grey loveseat that rested against his living room wall.
"I had a lot of fun at breakfast." Warrick said warmly as he settled beside you, setting down two matching mugs on the oak coffee table.
"Me too, it was easily the best first date I can remember going on." You replied honestly, feeling a warmth flush through your cheeks at the confession. He nodded thoughtfully as he turned his broad shoulders to face you, looking deep into your eyes.
"Okay, so it was a date, that's good to know." He chuckled smoothly, leaning forward slowly as he spoke, "because if that was a date, it means I can do this." On the final word his lips met yours, full and soft and plump as you leaned into him, embracing the moment you'd been picturing since your first day at CSI. Your hands found his chest as he groaned at your touch, lips capturing yours more passionately, threatening to never pull away or breathe again. His fingertips brushed over your arm, sending electricity through your body and leaving a trail of goosebumps where he'd been. As his hands found the nape of your neck, he held you tightly, slipping his tongue past your gasping lips and savouring the taste of you with every movement.
One hand held your cheek in place while the other slowly trailed down your spine, the sensitivity arching your back so your chest pressed right against his.
"I've wanted to do this for so long." He sighed out as his lips reluctantly left yours, only to catch the underside of your jaw, beginning their journey on a sloppy trail down your throat that had you nodding in agreement, sighing out his name and earning a very content groan from Warrick in response.
As his hand gradually reached the bottom of your spine, settling on your lower back, your whole body felt alive, forcing you to squirm against your seat as he continued his assault on your neck, knowing if you wore a turtleneck to work next week it would be all because of him. Warrick felt your hands slip around his waist as your hips wriggled against his couch again and, unable to keep you out of his grip any longer, his arm snaked around your lower back pulling you onto his lap, sure it would be a much more fun place to feel you shifting in your seat.
"I think we should spend our day off together more often." He purred with a cocky smile, his tight grip on you letting you know he truly meant it.

sorry i havent been posting at all recently. sorry.
also, HAPPY NEW YEARS
sorry if it not as much as yall want.
+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+
Eddie at first didn’t know how to comprehend that your favorite shows are crime shows. Some are fake and some are real fucking stories.
That blew his mind.
He thought you were psycho.
You are the first significant other he has had. Like ever.
Eddie didn’t know that one could get addicted to crime shows. Some of the episodes that you are watching scare him a lot more than horror movies do.
And Eddie with his dumb self, decided to ask the Hellfire club of what he should do.
Some of them said that he should leave you before he gets murdered, and the others said that he shouldn’t leave you because then that is when he will get murdered.
Dustin pointed out that some people just watch them for no specific reason, they just think that it is school, or maybe they like the bad guy’s getting caught. He pointed out that his own mother, the wonderful Ms. Henderson watches them late at night and sometime Dustin even joins her because they seem kind of cool.
But everyone gets back to talking and completely ignores what he said.
When Eddie came over to your house unexpectedly, like always so at this point it's almost expectable.
And once again you were watching your crime shows, and Eddie just accepted at this point.
You are always his perfect sweetheart. You are his darling. You are his perfect disaster. You are his extraordinary chaos. You are his doll. You are his everything.
So, he will love you despite your weirdness, because you love him despite his.
Maybe a few days later it doesn’t bother him anymore because now he has started to enjoy them with you. He will ditch going with his friends somewhere just so he can stay home with you and watch some random guy killing people.

Believe me when I say this, just finished watching episode 1 of 'The worst of Evil' & it's started off really good.
I got crazy vibes of 'young & dangerous (1996)' & infernal affairs (2002)' while watching this.
It's shot beautifully, and you'll enjoy the battle scenes.

When watching a crime show you expect seeing detectives solve murder cases, you don’t anticipate Bob here having a wallpaper of Peach and Luigi holding hands behind Mario

#ade recs things: German Queer TV
and I should probably add that it’s mostly wlw. Yes, and shockingly, it’s mostly not the young women either. Or even teens. Yeah, 2023 is really a game-changer in your Öffentlich-Rechtliche.
So maybe, while your at Mediathek and (re)watching Tatort, Polizeiruf & Soko Leipzig… give those lesbians some love?!
Hotel Mondial (ZDF, 1 Season à 12 episodes): Don’t walk, run. It’s fantastic. Set in Schwerin, centred around a hotel… who got a new boss: Eva de Fries. She’s bossy, sassy — and a lesbian. Also Gesine Curkowski plays her, so just RUN. That girlboss AF gets into delicious fights with her food chef, Uli. And you know how it goes XD And if you aren’t crying/ smiling/ singing along with Je veux, two middle-aged women dancing, the Swerin Castle in the background…? Frankly, then I don’t know anymore.
Tumblr media
Tod am Rennsteig - Auge um Auge (ARD, 90min): „Du bist so schön!“ really, you have to love those queer af and apologetic flirty crime fighters. It’s set in Erfurt, there’s some Ritualmord (!), and multiple canon queer people solve the mystery. The dialogues are fresh and new, and it’s fun. Solid case, but the rep? HELL YEAH.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Was wir verbergen (ZDF, 90min) und Die Unbestechlichen (ZDF, 90min): It’s okay. You want Copaganda with canon queer characters? Those two are, but sadly not so much more. The first deals with domestic abuse, the second with corruption. Well, it’s the spelled out ACAB. In particular, Die Unbestechlichen is like a queer pixie dream: all hets are bastards, the queers get the first and last word, and the team is 100% queer.
Tumblr media
Dr Nice (ZDF, 2x 90mins so far) has Josefine Preuß as a lesbian raising her step-daughter Lea after her partner‘s death. The father is the protagonist, Dr Nice (Moritz Neiss, WTF). It’s set in Flensburg, has a great cast. It shows a lot, frankly, the two episodes still feel like an exposition. Very calm, soothing. Not so queer… it’s actually casual, which is nice.
WAPO Elbe (ARD, 1 Season, 8 episodes, Season 2 in production): Well,… it’s something I guess? The less of WAPO is queer (Doris) and been happy married. It’s casually mentioned. The wife actually shows up. But yeah… it’s all a bit old-fashioned. I personally prefer WAPO Berlin. Or Soko Leipzig, obviously.
Tumblr media
To sum it up: in March/April 2023 you can pick your genre, your queer rep, and as you can see, even there queer rep is diverse. And yes, even the kids and teens get Löwenzahn, Pfefferkörner and Schloss Einstein. Give Mediathek a try, you‘ll be surprised. I’m curious what ÖR do for Pride Month at this point. When even Traumschiff can get mlm and genderfluid/ trans/ non-binary plots and Kreuzfahrt ins Glück poly with a happy gay couple and best friend. Be queer, stream on 🌈

It's truly interesting that a ca. 10 year old crime series (Mord mit Aussicht) has a whole fucking episode of one of the police officers (Bärbel) falling for another woman and having to fight against internalized homophobia and coming to the realisation that she likes girls (she is very against being a lesbian at first esp because she likes guys too, bi would actually fit her more, not that she knows this) , while getting actually supported by everyone around her
Like it's not the whole theme of the episode, that's still the murder, but it's a huge part of it amd it's portrayed as perfectly normal and fine
Idk my dad is currently watching it and I just eanted to dhare my thoughts

Definitely not pro-cop on this blog, but I watch a ton of crime shows to the point I've seen most episodes of everything repeatedly, and my two favorite detectives/cops of all time are:
1) The guy who almost came out of his chair at the reporter who asked him if the victim being a prostitute affected their dedication to the case: "Why would that matter?" [Sits straight up in chair, grabs armrests to stop himself from launching himself at the interviewer].
2) The guy who seemed to think using the word "lesbian" as a noun was a slur, so he said stuff like "She was not a lesbian person," for the entire interview.
