I'm a queer person living in a country town. I get a lot of nasty comments. Mostly, people just call me f*gg*t or tr*nny, or say that they hate gay people. But sometimes, I get a string of maliciously intended questions like "So do you identify as an animal?" or calling me "it" or just other things like that
"How many genders are there? Can you name all 76 or whatever to prove they're real?"
"There's only two genders, you can have a hole or a pole"
"if people can be pansexual can i be like tap-sexual or something?"
It really kills me, and I'm glad I'm getting out of here soon.
online queer spaces (aka tik tok) can be so fucking dumb sometimes. like, in real life 20 year old and 40 year old dykes are making out at the bar and it’s fine. trans men and trans masc people will go to lesbian bars and it will be normal and acceptable to see them there. lesbians will fuck trans people (trans masc and femme people) and the world won’t end. someone at the gay bar will be wearing kink gear and no one will bat an eye. dykes will have moustaches and stubble and will be wearing a labrys and people are gonna fuck who they want and not fuck who they don’t want and that’s literally ok. being a part of a community means you will meet people who are different and who don’t fit your strict fucking rules of what is “acceptable” and what isn’t. and i feel badly for people who don’t understand what it’s like to live in a real-life community. let queer people be messy and confusing, no one in the real world cares.
Love the thought of Leo just casually being well traveled to absurd degrees. Like one day they’re facing their new Big Bad of the year and like, Draxum or whoever says that the key to their fight is located somewhere in, like, Latvia or some place, but no one knows where to start.
Then Leo’s like “oh I know a place” and when asked how the heck he could know of one it smash cuts to Leo falling through the ceiling of said place due to a portal mishap.
Also love the idea of Leo, being as accidentally (and then later, purposefully) well traveled as he is, sometimes taking his family on outings to different places all over, maybe to some new Yokai spots he found along the way.
In these places, Leo 100% lets his bros get scammed by tourist traps.
In a pre-BAFTA interview David Tennant recalls his first performance :), 15.2.2024
David: My first performance... it was probably in primary school. It was The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse. I played the country mouse and there were four performances over a week. No, there were three performances and a dress rehearsal over the week. I was in the B cast. So we did the dress rehearsal and the second night. But the chap who was playing the country mouse in, let's call it the A cast, got sick. So I ended up doing the dress rehearsal and all three nights it felt like a door opened that day and I ran through it.
Honestly a big part of "going to my parent's house" is the drive there. It takes about an hour, and half of that is through my hometown, then on an obscure highway super far out in the country. Everytime I drive it I get a shock of memories from my school days, and a reminder of what all the people around me were like (white, christian, republican).
Them I get a very visceral reminder of how isolated I was growing up. Literally 20 minutes from the nearest grocery store, 40 from the nearest hospital. Driving all that way to my parent's house feels like getting further and further away from the world and deeper into this place where all we had was what was right around us.
