Kirby and the Great Adventure of Planet Robobot! Chapter 4

Taking the shortest route possible, Doctor Kirby and Waddle Dee push their way to the main control room. The structure of the building is complex, but they don’t lose their way thanks to Doctor Kirby having analyzed the floor plan. They also eliminated all the security systems that stood in the two’s way.

Where the two finally arrived was a room surrounded by a glass wall. The beautiful sea was on the other side of the wall. A number of fishes were swimming. Creatures whom mechanizations were complete on were at last released into the sea. Their movements are all clumsy. They have been converted into half-machines with their original liveliness gone. In the corner of the room was a woman standing still. The woman turned around slowly, noticing that Kirby and Waddle Dee had entered. She was a beautiful woman with pink hair and clear blue eyes. “Heehee......” Seeing Kirby and his friend, that woman let out a laugh in delight. “I didn’t expect to see native inhabitants all the way out here. I suppose Director Kane wasn’t much use, was he?” Kirby and Waddle Dee glared at her. The woman introduced herself in a composed manner. “Excuse my manners. Let me introduce myself. My name is Susie, executive assistant of the Haltmann Works Company. Pleased to make your acquaintance.” “Why did you mechanize Popstar!? Turn the inhabitants back to normal!” Yells Doctor Kirby. “Why, you say? Can you not understand?” Susie held her both hands high and pointed at the sea outside the wall. “Just look at this planet. Abundant water, clean air...there is a wealth of natural resources to be found here.” “Resources......?” “But all of you who live in this world take that wealth for granted...” Susie shook her head as though she looked down on them. “Regrettable, but at any rate...our Mechanizing Occupation Project is now under way...and you people have unfortunately been identified as...obstacles. “......What did you just say!?” “Our most sincere condolences, and I’m sorry you had to come all this way...” Susie straightened herself politely and announced. “But I’m afraid...you must be eliminated!” Susie pressed a button on the controller in her hand. From the ceiling......came a crash. Kirby and Waddle Dee looked up there. A beautiful cream colored armor comes down. It’s exterior is even larger and more splendid than a regular Invader Armor. Susie quickly jumped on the armor.

“I’ll make you welcome with this Business Suit, the armor exclusive to executives. I hoped to capture you without injuring you as much as possible, but pink native!” “......” “I can’t say that for sure. I’m not the one to go easy on others when I get serious. I hope you won't think ill of me!” Right as she said so, the Business Suit dished out attacks with Susie on board. While jumping repeatedly, it tries to crush Kirby and his friend! Kirby and Waddle Dee jumped aside and dodged the attack. Waddle Dee shudders and shouts. “We’ll become pancakes if we get flattened by that! What should we do, Kirby!?” “Don’t call me so flippantly. I am Doctor Kirby!” “Geez, it doesn't matter what I call you!” Susie rushes at them while laughing aloud. Waddle Dee pulled Kirby’s white suit and barely escaped. “We can’t fight with the Doctor ability. You have brains but no brawn......!” “Hmph, what are you saying, Assistant Waddle Dee? Don’t make light of this Doctor Kirby’s skill.” “Darn it, Kirby! Turn back to normal already. Your Air Pellet would rather be more useful!” With Susie on board, the Business Armor jumped in the air and fired several missiles. They cannot even avoid it as they are too fast. “Wah......!” Waddle Dee shut his eyes. But there was no impact. He opens his eyes nervously, where Doctor Kirby is standing in the way to protect Waddle Dee. He was holding a large clipboard with his right hand. The clipboard that he took out right away has repelled the missiles. Waddle Dee opened his eyes wide. “Amazing! You can guard with the clipboard, huh?” “And I said it’s Doctor Kirby. I can do more than guard. Keep your eyes peeled!” Doctor Kirby took out a test tube and a beaker from within his white suit. An experimentation began right on the spot. “Hmm, hmm......I mix reagent A and regent B in the ratio of two to three, and......gradually raise the heat......hmm......I see, this sort of chemical reaction occurs, eh......” “Kirby! This isn’t time to relax and experiment!” Susie looked down at Waddle Dee sweating freely and laughed out loud. “A-haha! I suppose you’re not as much as I had imagined, pink native. You’re not enough to be a material for a product.” However, engrossed in his experiment, Doctor Kirby was in no shape to give ear to her words. “......Hmm, I see. How about I add two drops of regent C to this......ohh, this reaction is just as I had imagined.” “Kirby! The experiment can come later~!”

Waddle Dee is about to cry. Susie shouts in triumph. “This is the end for you native. You must be exterminated!” The Business Suit began revolving in high speed on the spot. A strong wind occurs. Waddle Dee was about to be blown away from the pressure of the wind. Standing firm with all his might, Waddle Dee shouts while resisting the wind. “I’m begging you, Kirby, so please turn back to normal! We can’t fight with the Doctor Ability~!” Doctor Kirby shows no concern, however. Unfazed by the wind pressure, he holds up the test tube high and says in satisfaction. “All good with this. Medicine No. 1 from Kirby Science Lab has been completed!” “Kirby~!” “Watch me, Assistant Waddle Dee!” Doctor Kirby throws the medicine that was just completed at the Business Suit. A large explosion occurs, and a bluish-white flame is there with the sound of explosion. “KYAAAAAA!” Susie’s screams reverberates. The Business Suit was blown away and was slammed against the wall. Waddle Dee was in blank amazement. “W-What was that explosion right now......” “It’s the result of my experiment.” Doctor Kirby nodded with his hands folded behind his back. “I was able to demonstrate the might just as I had imagined. You can expect even greater power by adding more regent D to this!” “Doctor Kirby, you’re amazing!” Waddle Dee raised both his hands and embraced Kirby. “Make more of that medicine like just now. We might have a chance to win like this!” “Very well, we’ll carry on with the experimentation. Give me a hand, Assistant Waddle Dee!” “Yup, gotcha!” Nodded Waddle Dee in eagerness. -Needless to say however, Susie isn’t the one to stay beaten. She straightens herself and shouts in a voice brimming with determination to fight. “You pack quite a punch, don’t you? But playtime ends here. You’re finished this time for sure!” The spot where the Business Suit was standing rose up suddenly. Standing in the highest spot, Susie operated the controller. Countless missiles rush at Kirby and Waddle Dee! Kirby defended against the initial blows with his clipboard, but was no match for the continuous attack of the missiles. “Hmm!?” A missile directly hit Doctor Kirby who got into a panic. “Kirby!” Shouts Waddle Dee. The white suit that Doctor Kirby was wearing vanished. The beaker and the test tube in his hands disappeared as well. His Copy Ability was removed from receiving the impact of the missiles. Lying on the floor was Kirby just as usual. Director Kane simultaneously showed up. Having been inhaled, he reverted back to normal. “Ugh......ughhh......just now, what was that? It suddenly became pitch-black before my eyes and......so dizzy......” Director Kane doesn’t seem to know what had happened. He clutches his head and is unsteady on his feet. Waddle Dee helped Kirby up. “Are you alright?” “Y......Yeah. Owie.” Kirby puckered his face. “So mean. How could she smack me with that many missiles!?” “You turned back to normal, huh?” Waddle Dee sighed in relief and leapt at Kirby. “Thank goodness. Doctor Kirby too was strong, but I definitely prefer you as usual!” “Eh? What do you mean?” Even as Kirby is in a daze, the missiles fly at him one after another. “Wah, wah.” Kirby and Waddle Dee ran about with their hands together. Susie shouts. “It’s no use running. Have a taste of the coup de grâce!” The Business Suit fired a series of extra-large missiles. Running away is no longer a possibility. He opens his mouth widely and gives a good inhaling. “Kirby!” Shouts Waddle Dee. Director Kane cries out at the same time. “What the, is he trying to inhale those missiles!? It’s foolhardy, however you look at it! There’s no way he could inhale thoseee......!” But Kirby’s power surpassed the missiles. Inhaling the several missiles, his body swelled up very large. “W-What!? No way......!” Susie pressed the panic button. Facing the Business Suit, Kirby turned the inhaled missiles into Blaster Bullet and spitted it out with all his might. “Haaaaaaa!!!” The extra-large Star Bullet directly struck the Business Suit. The Business Star collapsed and stopped functioning completely. Susie quickly jumped up from the Business Suit. An escape device came down from the ceiling. “You’re quite skilled, huh. I now know that you too are suitable as the material for a product. Until next time!” Susie held onto the device and rose in the air. “Wait! Return everyone back to normal!” Shouts Kirby, but cannot make it in time. Leaving a loud laughter, Susie took flight through the escape hatch that opened in the ceiling. “Ahhhh~! Ma’am! How could you leave me behind!” Director Kane rushed out of the main control room while yelling resentfully. “They got away......” Kirby and Waddle Dee looked at each other’s faces. “Where did they run off to?” “It must be within that huge silver orb!” Kirby nodded to Waddle Dee’s words. “Let’s go! We won’t let them get away this time!”

Fashion - DeDeDesigner!

Deep within the imperial halls of Castle Dedede were several miniature Waddle Dees, carrying several spools of fabric to and from the throne room. They moved in an orderly fashion, as if they were a conveyor belt of polymer and denim. No one was quite sure as to why the King needed so much fabric- he only wears one thing, after all. But the King's orders were final: disobeying them could very well lead to a dire punishment. And so the Waddle Dees continued their fabric conveyance into the heart of King Dedede's latest operation.

"With all this fabric, I can finally weave my master plan to clobber Kirby forever!" The booming voice of Dream Land's favorite king echoed across the entire throne room, scaring a few of the Waddle Dees inside. One of them asked a crucial question: "How are clothes supposed to stop Kirby? I don't get it.." The king did not like being questioned like this. "Silence! It will all make sense soon enough. See, Kirby always walks around stark naked, except for those shoes of his. If we can make the most inconvienient clothes to wear ever, we can clobbah that Kirby real good!" The King smiled smugly with this plan, knowing that this plan absolutely COULD NOT fail.

The Waddle Dees finally all exited the throne room, leaving the royal ruler with way more fabric than he could ever need. But he still needed all of it. With his needle and thread, of which he totally knew how to use, he began to create his newest and first brand of clothing: Fasion Là Dedede! Countless minutes of hard work, fruitful labor happening before his very eyes... he couldn't believe it.

"This is way too stinking hard! How do people make this stuff? I'm not gonna clobbah Kirby at all at this rate!" Frustrated, the King kicked one of the unused fabric spools at full force! The magenta yarn went flying and flying… right into a Waddle Doo. The King panicked, "ACK! I AM SO SORRY," he yelled as he ran over to assist the cyclops in getting back on his feet. "…say, you wouldn't happen to know how to make clothes, would you?"

After several hours of his Waddle Doos sewing and creating, knitting and weaving, it was done. The perfect line of clothes for a puffball Kirby's size! …but the King couldn't stop staring at them. Somehow, these clothes looked leagues better than anything in his own closet! This was an absolute shock to Dedede, but he had an idea. "Excellent job, guys! But now I'm gonna ask you lot one more favor. Make one of these my size, pronto! We can't let that Kirby upstage us in fashion, too!"

This definitely confused the tiny cyclops workers, but they feared what would happen if they questioned this decision. And so, they started to work on yet another fashion line. But this time, it was King Size! And, soon enough, it was complete. Dedede absolutely adored the new clothes, and put them all on!

At the same time.

These clothes were designed to trap Kirby.

Soon enough, the King found himself trapped within his own web of lies... and polyester. He couldn't escape the tight chamber of fabric, and he was distressed! "Someone get me outta these things! Help! Help!!" With the King powerless, the Waddle Doos laughed as they left for home. Sure enough, the tyrant was on his own, with no one to help him. And that's where he stayed..

At least he looked trendy.

Captain N - Chapter 15: Bright Lights, Big City

Soon after being sucked down the warp pipe, Captain N found that Zelda's claim was proven correct. Even though he could feel himself shooting through the pipe faster than before, Captain N could tell the pipe ride to New Donk City was longer than the previous pipe he traveled through. Like before, he couldn't see or hear his allies in front of him, his senses being filled only by the blackness of the pipe and the cold air whipping past his ears. The sensation of traveling through a warp pipe was as strange as it was the first two times, feeling as if he was being sucked through a massive vacuum cleaner. Thoughts of his home still haunted his mind. The trees and tall grass growing on the side of the worn, deteriorating asphalt road cutting through the woods of Midnight Lights, the sun hanging high in the sky as a cool breeze brushed through. This image brought a pang of nostalgia he never imagined he would feel for such a mundane situation. The trees and grass of Yamajiro were similar to his own, but different enough in incredibly subtle ways to feel alien and unfamiliar. The grass was too brightly colored, the trees were too shapely, none of the world around him made him feel at home. The differences didn't stop with the plant life, either. The sky was colored a subtly different hue of blue, and the sun was slightly larger than he was used to. All these examples of "almost, but not quite" left him with a slightly uneasy feeling, as if trapped in an artificial world.

As he was reminiscing about the most mundane aspects of Earth, light suddenly returned to his field of vision. With the air around him warming up once again, he could tell New Donk City was near. Preparing himself mentally for being shot out of the pipe once more, he steadied his legs and braced himself. Emerging from the pipe with the three familiar gulping sounds, Captain N maintained this stronger form, landing squarely on his feet on the metal platform below. Feeling slight satisfaction at his improvement, he looked up to see Pit, Falco and Zelda leaning on the platform’s guardrail and looking ahead at the city, with a cable car on a large cord leading down to the main road. Captain N joined them, getting a good view ahead. From a distance, the city looked incredibly populated and lively, with neon billboards decorating surprisingly modern skyscrapers, and cars and taxi cabs busily traveling through the roads. Once again, Captain N was left with a subtly uneasy feeling from the city, everything about it feeling slightly off. The taxi cabs were adorned with slightly different writing, the buildings were colored either too dark or too light from the usual gray color he was used to, as well as more of the skyscrapers being pointed at the top. He was so close to home, yet so far away.

"It's been a while since anyone came from that warp pipe." Came a chipper voice from behind him. The four turned to face the voice and were met with a woman in a semi-formal uniform behind a tourist stand adorned with merchandise of New Donk City. "Is there anything you all need help with today?" She politely asked, but quickly experienced minor shock upon seeing Zelda with the three, and immediately corrected her demeanor. "I, I mean, welcome to New Donk City, your highness." She spoke, as formally as she could muster in spite of her nervousness. "Thank you, but I wish we were here for solely leisurely purposes." Zelda replied, as noble as ever. "Well, it would be an honor to assist the Princess of Hyrule, is there any way I can help?" The woman asked. "You wouldn't happen to know where we could find Ryu, would you?" Pit asked her, stepping forward. "Uh, well, not really." She sheepishly admitted. "But maybe Mayor Pauline would! I bet she'd be willing to meet with you all!" "And she's in city hall?" Falco asked further. "She should be! I'm not privy to her schedule, but it's worth a shot." The woman confirmed. Captain N was still looking over at the city, listening in on the conversation. The air was remarkably warm, and the hustle and bustle of the city could be heard even from such a long distance away. "Are you okay, sir?" The woman asked him, catching him off guard slightly. "Yeah, I'm just... new around here." Captain N covered up, turning back to her. "Well in that case, you might want a map!" She offered, pulling one neatly folded map from the display and holding out for him. He carefully took the map and unfolded it, surprised by how large New Donk City was from the illustration, with places of interest marked on the key. But looking at the woman, he was surprised to find her identical to his own species. She didn't have wings like Pit or pointed ears like Zelda, she looked like an ordinary human. "We'll make sure he doesn't get lost." Pit assured the woman. "In that case, is there anything else I can help you with today?" She politely asked the group. Captain N folded the map back up and stored it in his jacket pocket. "That will be all, thank you ma'am." Zelda answered her. "In that case, I'll fire up the cable car and get you folks down to main street! Welcome to the Big Banana, the city that never leaps!" She boldly concluded, flipping a nearby switch in the booth. The cable car whirred to life behind them, the sound of a basic motor rumbling in the device holding the car to the cable. With one last "thank you", the four carefully got into the cable car, which was found to be a bit small, barely being able to hold two people on each side. Captain N found himself crammed in next to Falco, with Pit and Zelda on the other side. But once they were all secured, the machinery kicked into gear, and carried them down to the main entrance to New Donk City.

"Seems like your disguise wasn't very effective." noted Falco, looking at Zelda. "Perhaps, but we can't afford to turn back for a wardrobe change. Surely the people will be too busy with their own tasks to notice." Zelda reinforced, undeterred. "How come Princess Zelda was the only one to get recognized? Aren't you two kind of celebrities as well?" Captain N asked Pit and Falco. "Not really, Pit spends most of his time helping out Palutena and I've spent most of my life on the planet Corneria." Falco casually explained, leaving Captain N surprised to find that Falco was essentially an alien. "So, what do we do? Apart from asking Mayor Pauline, I mean." Pit asked the group. "Well, Princess Zelda has telepathy, right? I say we split up and try to cover more ground that way. I've got a map, so we could try asking around the more populated areas." Captain N semi-confidently offered, not entirely comfortable with the idea of splitting up, but felt a need to contribute something. "That's rather risky. If we get into conflict it could mean more trouble if we're separated from each other." Zelda responded. "I say it's worth a shot! Plus, I'm sure we could handle ourselves if we get into a sticky situation." Pit piped up, adjusting himself as to not be crammed right next to Zelda. "Well then, where should we look other than bothering the mayor, Mr. Map?" Falco asked Captain N. Getting the map back out of his pocket, he looked over the places of interest marked on the key. Beneath the Projection Room, Crazy Cap flagship store and RC car room, what stuck out to Captain N was the Commemorative Park. "Maybe we could check there?" He offered, pointing at the park. "Maybe we could find someone there who's in the know on what Ryu is up to, or he could be training there." "Sounds good to me!" Pit happily responded. Falco idly nodded, not offering any other ideas. "Then it's decided. Pit and I will search the park, and you two can try to meet Mayor Pauline." Zelda concluded, still slightly fidgeting with her dress. Captain N put his right hand out, facing down in the middle of the space between the four. None of the three others knew what this meant, and he was only met with confused looks. "Come on, put 'em there." Captain N insisted. After some slight hesitation, the three put their hands in the middle, where Captain N lifted them into the air, with a hearty "Go team!" before the car came to a stop with a sudden clunk.

Captain N carefully stepped out of the cable car, Zelda, Falco and Pit following. Up close, Captain N could see the countless men and women in black and gray formal attire densely populating the sidewalks, some carrying briefcases. Steam rose from beneath the manhole covers when not obscured by the countless cars, motorized scooters and taxi cabs populating the streets. The buildings closest to the entrance could be identified as apartment buildings, with fire escapes on the exterior. In the distance could be seen the taller, more pointed buildings where business took place. Countless billboards adorned the nearby walls, from advertising music events to the Crazy Cap store to the upcoming World Warrior Tournament. Falco nudged Captain N slightly, motioning to the rooftops ahead. There could be spotted Koopa, Kremlings and small, tan creatures with round bodies and stubby limbs, all patrolling the edge of the buildings while carrying high-tech spears. "Looks like Waddle Dees up there." Pit whispered, keeping his head low to avoid eye contact with them. Captain N nodded, and quickly led the group down the sidewalk, obscuring the four somewhat in the massive crowds. The horde of hasty businesspeople going about their daily lives felt reminiscent of the crowded hallways of Midnight Lights High School, where he learned to survive the torrential waves of classmates and the occasional faculty member in between classes. Fortunately, the businesspeople were too focused with their own tasks and responsibilities to pay the four much notice, despite Pit and Falco standing out with their avian features. The hat, while cumbersome, proved especially helpful in obscuring Zelda from the sight of those patrolling the rooftops. The businesspeople moved as if they were packed together like sardines, so maneuvering through the crowds proved a difficult task. With the map, Captain N quickly noted the group's current location in the city, and while walking at a brisk pace matching those of the businessmen around them. Stopping at a busy intersection, Zelda took a quick glance at the map and found the path to the Commemorative Park. "Looks like this is where we part ways." Pit spoke up. Nodding, Zelda straightened her posture and looked to Captain N and Falco. "If you two get into trouble, reach out to me in your mind, and Pit and I will-" "Don't worry, we got this, don't we, Cap'n?" Falco interrupted, nudging Captain N. Despite his slight worry of parting with two of his only allies made so far in this new world, Captain N nodded along, with an earnest "Yeah, we’ve survived worse, right?". Zelda still wasn't entirely swayed. "It's not your well-being I'm concerned for, Lombardi, rather your reckless inclination." She noted, earning a scoff from him. "Y'hear that, Cap? She doesn't care about me." He reiterated with mock-hurt in his voice. "You get too eager to use that weapon at your side and it could endanger countless civilians!" Zelda insisted. "That's why he's got me, Princess. I'll keep him on a short leash." Captain N interjected, using Falco's earlier quip against him, much to Falco's annoyance. "Then it's decided! We better get going before someone nasty notices us." Pit cut in, impatient to get going. Zelda sighed in reluctant acceptance and bid the two good luck before she and Pit set off in the opposite direction. Left with Falco, Captain N watched Pit and Zelda disappear from his vision, vanishing into the crowd. "Come on, let's not keep Miss Mayor waiting." Falco reminded him. Captain N put on a more confident face, turned back to Falco, and responded with "Yeah, let's roll.".

As they tried to casually stroll alongside the businesspeople to remain inconspicuous, Captain N spotted a good amount of Toad people struggling to make their way amid the dense crowds. Their short, stubby stature did little to aid them, being pushed around and almost tripped over by the much larger people who barely paid them any mind, except when they almost cause the businesspeople to trip over. The struggle of the Toad people was felt by Captain N, empathizing with how out of place they felt, suddenly being in a completely alien situation they're clearly unsuited for. Peering out of the corner of his eyes, he could spot the Koopa, Waddle Dees and Kremlings patrolling diligently across the rooftops. Both he and Falco could tell they were incredibly impatient to use their advanced spears, constructed of white metal with bright blue machinery underneath. Fortunately, the two were slightly shorter than the businesspeople surrounding them, helping hide the two fugitives from the sight of the three king's forces. Upon closer inspection to those around him, Captain N could tell the businesspeople were uneasy being surrounded by the nefarious forces above them. Each one of those around him kept their heads down and avoided looking at the goons above, as if expecting to be fired upon at a moment's notice. Who knows what kind of trouble could have happened before, Captain N wondered? With the cars on the road rushing by, enough ambient noise was provided to hide conversations between Falco and Captain N from prying ears. "So... you're an alien?" Captain N awkwardly asked Falco.

"In a way. From where I'm standing, you’re alien." Falco pointed out.

"Yeah, good point." Captain N relented.

A moment of silence between the two passed as they walked.

"So, what's Corneria like?" Captain N asked.

"A lot more advanced than this planet. We completed our space program before the Mushroom Kingdom was even created. In fact, those guys back in New Leaf Town are actually the great-grandkids of the first Cornerians to live on Yamajiro." Falco bragged, taking pride in his planet's achievements.

"I assume the Arwing was built on Corneria?"

"Pfft, yeah! Those rickety airships are as advanced as Yamajiro technology gets!" Falco boasted.

"That doesn't sound so bad, given their armaments." Captain N reminded him.

"That's cheating, and you know it. They didn't invent them on their own, those three creeps were GIVEN those high-tech gizmos from who-knows-who," Falco was quick to shoot back.

Another moment passed between the two.

"So... what else does this solar system have?" Captain N asked.

"Well, you've got this planet, Corneria, the desert planet Titania, the ice planet Fichina, there's Sauria, Venom, and... Zoness." He answered, a tinge of disgust in his voice in mentioning the last planet.

"...Have you visited them?"

"All those and then some, even planets outside the system like Zebes and Big Blue." Falco informed him with pride in his voice.

"Wow..." Captain N said, amazed at the prospect of such adventures.

"I guess they don't have space travel back where you're from?"

"...Not really. The farthest we've ever gone is the Moon."

Falco snickered at the thought, the concept seeming quaint to his experiences.

On the way to the mayor's office, a large, brightly lit billboard on a wall nearby caught Captain N's attention. The billboard proudly displayed Mario in an energetic jumping motion, smiling at the viewer with "SUPER MARIO BROS. - NOW PLAYING" right next to him in blocky, multicolored text. Captain N stopped walking to take in the billboard, feeling incredibly small in comparison. He could feel a sense of gravitas emanate from the massive illustration of Mario, his bold yet positive demeanor providing a stark contrast against Captain N's inner turmoil. Looking up at the billboard, Captain N knew he couldn't compare. He felt like a child playing pretend. Mario has been made out to be larger than life, in a sense. The greatest hero in the Mushroom Kingdom, whose might and bravery were so great he saved Princess Peach and triumphed over Bowser time and time again.

But not this time.

Bowser and his two ally kings now possessed a power unparalleled by anything seen before. They now possess a power so great that not just Mario, but Link, Samus Aran, Kirby and other presumably legendary heroes failed in their mission. To his right, Captain N spotted a businessman having stopped to look up at the massive billboard of Mario. When the two shared eye contact, a moment of knowing mourning was shared at the disappearance of Mario, before the businessman hung his head defeatedly and continued on his way. The weight on Captain N's shoulders grew more intense, knowing what was at stake. He, who only just arrived in this world, now had to triumph where men greater than him had failed. He couldn't bear to look back at the billboard of Mario, feeling he doesn't deserve to look upon someone with such prestige and call them his equal.

"...You doing alright, Cap?" Falco asked him, bringing him back to reality. Captain N stepped back and turned away from the billboard, facing Falco. He took in a deep breath to puff up his chest, and nod reassuringly. "Yeah, I'll make it." He assured, not entirely convincing Falco. "Well, we shouldn't stand around much longer, those goons are gonna notice us." Falco reminded him, subtly motioning to the Koopa atop the tall buildings. In agreement, Captain N continued on to City Hall, which was marked on the map as the tallest building near the plaza. The rest of the walk wasn't too troublesome, apart from getting in between businessmen and the odd Toad people. Captain N's red varsity jacket and jeans and Falco's blue avian physiology made them stand out noticeably among the crowd of homogeneously dressed businesspeople, but not so much so to cause a disruption. Soon enough, after crossing the plaza decorated with a fountain and grassy pathways, the two found themselves before the massive city hall. Separated from the interior only by three pristine, glass doors. Feeling slightly intimidated by the massive building in its art deco style, Captain N looked to Falco and remarked “We best not keep the Mayor waiting, huh?”. Falco nodded, and the two pushed open the doors and walked in.

Rewrite The Anime Challenge

so i’ve seen a lot of people in the kirby tag talk about a remade anime, or a rewritten anime, or a whatever sort of anime. one in where all their desires are fulfilled and what not. which is moreso a reimagining, though it wasn’t stated to be. but coolieos, great, radical.

but i was in the shower just now and i was thinking ‘those same people were also saying the anime was bad and they could write it better alongside the things they said they wanted.. yet they haven’t done any writing or put much thought into their concept outside of stating what they wanted.’. so, i got out of the shower and i’m writing this post.

here is my challenge to you: for those who want a new anime, one in which you designed, lets do it with a critical eye. because saying you could ‘rewrite it’ or ‘reboot it’ is interesting to me. a rewrite or a reboot of merit requires a writer to take the original concept, look at it critically to analyze its specific failings, then to make the concept better than it previous was whilst keeping the most important parts of it intact. so, allow me to issue you a challenge of various difficulties which would allow you to use your critical thought.

a ‘game character’ is something that comes from the games, and nowhere else from the games, recognize i’ll be using that terminology. kirby may be a game character but he’s also an anime character, and for the sake of this he wont be called a ‘game character’

Kirby Right Back At Ya synopsis

date of airing: 2001

The anime follows Kirby, a pink, spherical, childlike creature who does not speak in coherent words but possesses the ability to take on new magical powers temporarily by sucking up their owners. Kirby arrives on a planet called Popstar, near the village of Cappy Town, when his spaceship crashes there. He quickly befriends two yellow-skinned siblings named Tiff and Tuff and their friends Fololo and Falala. Over the course of the series, Kirby and his friends evade King Dedede and his assistant Escargoon, who try to get rid of Kirby using numerous monsters provided by NME.

Plot

Thousands of years ago, a being known as Nightmare appeared and created a company called Night Mare Enterprises, often abbreviated as N.M.E. (Holy Nightmare in the Japanese version). It was in truth a front for his great armies of monsters, which he used to take over much of the universe. They devastated countless planets using this massive army of creatures of all origins. But there were those who stood to combat his evil, in the form of the Star Warriors and the Galaxy Soldier Army. They fought for many thousands of years, but Nightmare's monsters outnumbered them, and killed most, forcing the survivors to retreat to parts unknown. However, everyone is quite surprised when Kirby's ship crashes close to Cappy Town (Pupupu Village in the Japanese sub) on the planet Popstar. They find he is tiny, round, and pink, unlike Tiff's now rejected desire of a strong knight she perceived to be the "Star Warrior". Despite his hardly warrior-like characteristics, he is quick to save anyone who is in danger, almost if by instinct. He is soon befriended by the siblings Tiff and Tuff, along with their servants Fololo and Falala. Together, the kids face off against Dream Land's tyrannical ruler and his brigade of brutes.

The ruler of Dream Land, King Dedede, is jealous and suspicious of Kirby from the start. He and his right-hand man Escargoon constantly try to get rid of Kirby with monsters provided by the company for a high fee, and ultimately, their plans always backfire when Kirby interferes. Just as in the games, Kirby can inhale enemies and temporarily gain their powers, transforming into forms such as Fire Kirby with the ability to spit flames, or Sword Kirby to literally slice foes into pieces.

Kirby grows and becomes stronger before his final battle with Nightmare. In the end when Kirby and Tiff face Nightmare, which is in a dream, Tiff throws the Warp Star at Kirby, who swallows it and becomes Star Rod Kirby. Star Rod Kirby has the Star Rod which is Nightmare's sole weakness, allowing Kirby to defeat him.

Episode 1

The episode starts out as a night on Planet Popstar and all of the sheep are sleeping peacefully. However, a giant octopus named Octacon appears and eats them all in just a matter of seconds. The sheep farmer hears the ruckus and runs outside, shocked at the sight of the herd's bones being flung at him. The massive octopus then flies away and into King Dedede's castle.

After the introduction, the scene switches to space, where a Warp Star starship is flying by. Inside of it is the young Kirby, sleeping soundly. However, the Warp Star detects the presence of a monster on Planet Popstar and goes to "Warp" mode, alarming our pink hero. Kirby awakens and wonders what is going on, just as the starship automatically encloses him within the cockpit, preparing to jump into hyperspace. The star then warps into the abyss of space at light speed towards the Popstar star system. When it comes to a stop Kirby sees a strange light; the glow of the fabled planet, much to Kirby's amazement.

now, of the things i’ve listed there the ‘date of airing’ probably seems rather strange, right. well, here’s the thing; you can have the theoretical date of airing of your anime be.. any realistic year. since we’re just saying “what if it just suddenly existed”.

The True Challenge Ranks

think of these as levels of difficulty in terms of rewriting something. we’re going from easiest to hardest.

Meta Knight Level

Do a synopsis, plot and nothing else, also have none of the other anime characters (i.e tiff, tuff, silica), only game characters, do not have dedede be the antagonist, do not have meta knight be the antagonist. essentially just trash the entire anime and start new.

Sheep Level

Do a synopsis, plot, a first episode, and have none of the other anime characters (i.e tiff, tuff, silica), only game characters, do not have dedede be the antagonist, do not have meta knight be the antagonist. essentially just trash the entire anime and start new.

Cappy Level

Do a synopsis, plot, a first episode, a finale episode, and have some other anime characters as well as game characters, maybe have dedede be the antagonist, maybe have meta knight be irresponsible.

Waddle Dee Level

Do a synopsis, plot, a first episode, a normal (think midseason) episode, a finale episode, and have some other anime characters as well as game characters, have dedede be the antagonist, have meta knight be irresponsible

Waddle Doo Level

Do a synopsis, plot, a first episode, two normal (think midseason) episodes, a finale episode, and have some more anime characters / original creations than game characters, have dedede be the antagonist, have meta knight be irresponsible

Tuff Level

Do a synopsis, plot, a first episode, three normal (think midseason) episodes, a finale episode, and have some more anime characters / original creations than game characters, have dedede be the antagonist, have meta knight be irresponsible as generally have the original plot with tweaks

Tiff Level

Do a synopsis, plot, a first episode, four normal (think midseason) episodes, a finale episode, and have more anime characters / original creations than game characters, have dedede be the antagonist, have meta knight be irresponsible, generally have the original plot with tweaks

Kirby Level

Do a synopsis, plot, a first episode, five normal (think midseason) episodes, a finale episode, and have no game characters. Keep the set roles Tweak the plot and personalities where seen fit in characters, but only so that way they can work as a better version of themselves, critically.

Conclusion

the chance of anyone taking me up on this challenge? 0, lol, but i thought i might as well put it out there anyways. if you say you want to make an anime that you could make better than the original, then do so and @ me about it
