Poirot Aesthetics: The Adventure of the Egyptian Tomb (S5Ep1)
"'You may think me a foolish, credulous woman, Monsieur Poirot, but I am afraid. Supposing that the spirit of the dead King is not appeased? Perhaps to you I seem to be talking nonsense--'
'No, indeed, Lady Willard,' said Poirot quickly. 'I, too, believe in the force of superstition, one of the greatest forces the world has ever known.'"

Good Omens Headcanon (sort of)
I know that's not going to happen but I'd love to see a longer series after a Good Omens season 3. Do hear me out. I imagine a sort of spin-off series with Aziraphale and Crowley as the main characters who have finally completely retired from their duties in Heaven and Hell. Instead, now they are living together in London like an old married couple and solve supernatural mysteries of all kinds, their headquarter being the bookshop📚 - obviously - their favourite mode of transportation being the Bentley 🚙 and of course there would be a lot of music by Queen and Aziraphales favorite Swing music (no bebop). 🎵 They would have discussions about cases in Nina's café "Give Me Coffee or Give Me Death", Nina and Maggie would also get involved and when they have solved yet another case with the help of their friends, they celebrate with a dinner at the Ritz. 🍾 The genre of the series could be cosy mystery, involving a lot of tea/coffee ☕ (or for Crowley: six shots of espresso in one cup) and Eccles cakes - that is one reason why Nina's café is so important. And there would be some cosy, quiet and romantic scenes between Aziraphale and Crowley.💖

i'd love to have a party where everyone is dressed in elegant, vintage fashion and we all sit about and talk about literature, music, and mundane gossip in the poshest voices we can manage, until all of a sudden there's a scream from upstairs and we all rush to see that our host has been brutally murdered and we must discover who the murderer was before we get killed off, too. would anyone like to come? i think it would be smashing.
(and before you ask, this was certainly inspired by “edgar allen poe’s murder mystery dinner party invite only casual dinner party / gala for friends potluck”)

Review: Every Time I Go On Vacation Someone Dies by Catherine Mack.
Eleanor Dash, author of the Vacation Mysteries series, is on a book tour on the gorgeous Amalfi Coast when she finds life imitating art as her ex-boyfriend is targeted by a killer. Eleanor’s sleuthing skills are about to be put to the ultimate test as, among the literary rivals, rabid fans, a crazed stalker and former flame Oliver, suspicions on tour are flying faster than paperbacks off a bestseller shelf. But who is really trying to get away with murder?
Reading the premise, I knew this was a book I'd dive headlong into and I certainly did!
I will say this, I am a sucker for footnotes. If you have footnotes and use them well (like this does) I am going to be there reading that thing til the very last page, no exception. The narrative voice in this book is so good and made me want to keep reading - I also really appreciate the characters and there were moments I was like, yeah I get it. I often find characters tend to be unrelateable, here not the case.
This book also has such a great pace, we do not hang around to find out what's going on and we are taken straight into the story that makes this book when you begin difficult to put down. I finished this book not long ago and with that ending, how am I meant to sit here and wait for the next one? I can't wait for more from this series for sure.
Funny, gripping and relateable for a murder mystery (they don't happen in real life to me, at least) I would definitely recommend this for every vacation you're planning to take this year, it's the perfect beach read.
(thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC for review!)

I learnt how to make animated gifs specifically to make this cool title image for my new murder-mystery adventure for Brindlewood Bay. It's called Knit One, Kill One and its about knitting, petty local politics, and craft fairs! Check it out here.

Poirot Aesthetics: Five Little Pigs (S9Ep1)
"What do most people mean when they say that? So young. Something innocent, something appealing, something helpless. But youth is not that! Youth is crude, youth is strong, youth is powerful -- yes, and cruel! And one thing more-youth is vulnerable."

I wanna read some semi-cosy mysteries a la Nancy Drew. Maybe some ghosts / supernatural stuff thrown in there too. But I want it to be written for adults preferably….
Does anyone have any recommendations?

ARC Review: "A Botanist's Guide to Parties and Poisons," by Kate Khavari
ARC Review: “A Botanist’s Guide to Parties and Poisons,” by Kate Khavari
Hello friends, and welcome to my newest installation of “late ARCs!” This week we have A Botanist’s Guide to Parties and Poisons by Kate Khavari, out now as of June, a delightful debut of murder and academia set in 1920s England. Here was a refreshing murder, with heroine botanist Saffron finding herself investigating a murder to clear her mentor’s name, which she was present for. I am so happy…
