Have you heard about the Wacom AI scandal?
Wacom is a company that makes THE drawing tablet that's basically the industry standard for artists.
Artists doing art is their literal business model.
For their latest ad for their latest iteration of products, they didn't commission an artist or even purchase existing art from an artist that uses their products, they bought clip-art from a photoshop thingy.
They then proceeded to use this clip-art.
When artists went "hey, this is OBVIOUSLY! AI, wacom responded with "we didn't know" and "we ran it through popular online image checkers and it said no ai" and "the art said it wasn't ai" and so on.
Artists looked up the clip-art on the photoshop thingy and found the creator/seller of the clip-art.
Sure, creator/seller doesn't specify it's ai, but the massive bulk uploads of Very Obviously AI generated clip-art content was a dead giveaway.
This included things like hair-like teeth, garbled text, weird general anatomy, weird fingers and toes, etc, etc, etc.
The obviousness can't possibly be overstated.
It was painfully obvious AI art.
So... the leading industry standard drawing tablet company purchased painfully obviously AI generated clip-art from an AI clip-art content farm and used it to advertise their latest generation of drawing tablet to the people whose work has been stolen and exploited by the clip-art generator... and then proceeded to expose to the world that no one on their own fucking staff can tell AI generated images from a hole in the ground as an excuse for their gross disrespect towards their target audience.
It's Fucking Wild.

No one ever told me how difficult it is to listen to the rich complain about their lives. Like how am I supposed to maintain a suitably empathetic and invested expression when homie is looking me dead in the eyes talking about how "stressful" it was to go on vacation for three weeks but thankfully he thought ahead to bring the nanny along for the trip? Mans really was complaining about being too impatient to wait for his luggage in Istanbul, so he just left it all there and bought a new wardrobe for the second half of his trip while their original luggage got shipped back to the US. Honestly, what kind of response am I supposed to give to that?? Because I just... I had nothing. Dry as a bone, not a drop of desire to socialize remained in my body

"These companies are all run by CEOs who got their MBAs at Darth Vader University, where the first lesson is "I have altered the deal, pray I don't alter it further.""
Another banger from Cory Doctorow, about companies using "software updates" to remove features or content you had already paid for.

As someone who works in recruiting, I understand now more than ever how unfair the mind games of interviews are to those who are autistic and struggle to “read” the meaning behind a question. I absolutely take things at face value and sometimes struggle to formulate questions with a hidden agenda. And it only gets worse the higher up you’re trying to go 😖😩

not to be a bitch but people who keep scheduling meetings right after another meeting and eventually enter the second one late because of the first one are the worst

Owen Dennis, the creator of Infinity Train, explains everything he knows about what's going on with HBO Max animation, and also has some very well-worded warnings to the folks in charge of these awful decisions.

So Netflix doing that crack down on account sharing effectively destroyed our Family account because we’re in the middle of moving and currently have 2 residents. So that’s fun.
It was probably nuked.

A lil over two years ago, shortly after I was hired, my boss gave me a rather tall stack of documents and said, "Hey, no rush, shred these whenever you get the chance." I just bought a shredder for my office, my lock-less, super open, everyone goes inside office, so now we are two years after the fact, and I am just now learning that he gave me all of his tax, immigration, medical, and dmv records. The next assistant this man has better be an upright, semi-forgetful person because this man is going to stress me right into an early grave. "Boop, where did all those gray hairs come from?" From you, you overly trusting lil fucker

Corporate Shenanigans - How much longer (and) how to avoid them?
Guys and Ladies, shenanigans are not be avoided by corporate houses but all of us!
Businesses are wonders, although they come bundled with corporate shenanigans! Any business built from scratch. And turned into a behemoth is a real marvel in itself. It’s amazing how dogged and tenacious human minds tend to focus. And achieve such great things. But then, a question arises. Did we ever think of the costs involved in creating these? By cost, I am not just talking…
