What are the dangers of the reliance of social media for public health campaigns?
At this age, social media has become one of the source that populace has depend on for information about everything. An example was given by Al-Rahwi (2017) that states that celebrities who are famous in time such as in social media are the most high-end influencers of the era, or the popularizing of the role playing game Genshin Impact through users sharing via social media (Greting, Mao & Eladhari 2022). However, social media have taken over in medical news, providing discussions and updates through the net without stepping outside, which has become more essential amongst the era of pandemic (Vera, Colbert & Lerma 2020). However, is there a possibility of treating social media like a tool for widespread health news may do more harm than good? Are there any dangers from depending on social media for medical updates? This blog will cover reasons why public health campaigns using social media may not be such a good idea.
Medical Propaganda and Misinformation
Firstly, as a human invention, both research information and social media are imperfect creations, and therefore have a chance for misinformation, whether purposeful or accidental. This happened with the COVID-19 pandemic when it was reported that the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes the disease COVID-19, has a possibility of inflaming cardiac muscles which may lead to myocardial dysfunction (Basso et.al. 2020). The article written by Vera, Colbert and Lerma in the "Reviews in Cardiovascular Medicine" states that the above misinformation caused widespread panic since netizens thought COVID-19 can damage the myocardium despite the same article stating that further pathological changes on the studied patients' hearts had yet to be described in full.
Tumblr media
(Image taken from HullLive)
However, not all misinformation is innocent or a product of accidents. Many far-right groups, such as in Europe, has used social media as a propaganda, misleading the netizens about COVID-19 so they could do the groups' bidding (McNeill-Wilson 2020). For example, anti-immigration, neo-fascist organization based in Britain called the Hundred Handers scapegoated migrating outsiders entering the country as a cause of the pandemic spreading to the British Isles. Across the pond, Canadian public health officer, Theresa Tam, a woman from Hong Kong, was accused by right-wingers of being a Chinese spy, using the coronavirus excuse as a means to insert Chinese influence into the country (Zhou 2020). To conclude, depending on social media for information leads to susceptibility to propaganda and misinformation, whether intentional or accidental by the authors.
Lack of Reach
As of 2023, 38% of the global population still possess no access to the internet, according to a statistic done by Flynn (2023). As such, if medical news would to be spread in social media, those who do not have online connection would be ostracized from those information. In many parts of Africa, for example, medical help and progress hits a hindrance due to the lack of people who have experience in the ICT field to collect and analyze medical data (Kirigia & Berry 2008).
Tumblr media
(An example of MySejahtera homepage, image taken from Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia)
Even within reach of internet access, not all of the public are able to understand how to use social media to access those information. This case is prevalent among the elderly, who struggle with using the internet to learn about their condition or know more about their medical status. There is a pressure on the elderly to adapt using phones, tablets, and other gadgets to gain access to health information, and they require help from those who understand, which can compromise other factors, such as the case with elderly vaccine registration through Malaysia's MySejahtera app, where asking for help may cause problems with self-isolation (Pazim 2021).
Division
Some studies suggest that providing healthcare information through social media is unfair to those who are not able to afford a device to access such websites or are not capable to due to lack of internet connection in the area. This is supported through the World Health Organization (1998) which states that 90% of information and ideas are sourced from developed countries. Other than that, there is also a division between those who are digitally capable or those who have an intelligence capacity and those who are slightly challenged in any of the two fields (World Bank 1999).
Tumblr media
(Drone taking off, picture taken from TIME)
However, not all hope is lost. According to the journal by Sharma and Kshetri (2020), many governments are interfering less with healthcare sectors, thereby allowing them to grow and improve for the wellbeing of the local population. For example, in Rwanda, medical supplies delivered through drones have been accepted by the nation's government, as well as partnering with American company Zipline, allowing blood supplies to be delivered in less developed, rural areas (Baker 2017).
Conclusion
It has become clear that there are many disadvantages to using social media as a tool to spread information about health and wellness into the public. There could be misinformation, whether accidental or purposeful, that deceives or panics the digital community, or the lack of reach to those who are in less developed areas or are less tech-savvy, or the question of inequality that this method might have inadvertently caused. Still, this does not mean that there are no advantages to social media in this regard. Like all things, there must be balance and moderation between digital and physical outreach, especially for such things as health. Also, research must still be done in regards for social media advantages and disadvantages, as well as counterstrategy against the obstacles, such that social media can be a better health information tool (Gamache-O'Leary & Grant 2017).

Gain deeper insights on the market and receive your free copy with TOC now @: Latin America Pharmaceutical Contract Manufacturing & Research Services Market Report
During the coronavirus outburst, the supply chains of biopharmaceutical companies remained robust and were largely unaffected worldwide. Similarly, contract manufacturers are observing a rise in demand for the production facilities which will be used in the COVID-19 vaccine and therapeutics. Thus, the future holds numerous growth opportunities in the market for pharmaceutical contract manufacturing & research service in Latin America.
For instance, in December 2021, under an agreement between Samsung Biologics and AstraZeneca, to manufacture Evusheld, which is an amalgamation of binary antibodies in development for the potential treatment of COVID-19. These factors are promoting the demand for CMOs and CROs in Latin American countries. The initiatives to decrease the commodity prices are expected to improve the region’s economic growth thereby boosting the revenue generation in the outsourcing market for pharmaceutical development.

Don't miss Mr. Carl Dowling's speech on is there a link between where or how the Covid-19 mRNA vaccine is administered in young adults and the risk of acquiring myocarditis/pericarditis? In San Francisco, USA, at the 11th World Nursing, Healthcare Management, and Patient Safety Conference, which is CME/CPD accredited.
Mr. Carl Dowling recently earned a 2:1 overall grade for my BSC Paramedic Science degree from the institution. In order to provide emergency medical care to members of the public, he is now working to complete my paramedic preceptorship in the prehospital environment and events sector.
He briefly lived in London during the Covid-19 epidemic, when he was able to help with the urgent evacuation of Critical Care Covid-19 positive patients who needed to be transferred to other hospital facilities while they were on ECMO. After returning from London, he thought back on his time there and used it as inspiration to write his first editorial for a medical magazine, which dealt with Covid-19. He has since developed a greater interest in evidence-based practise and has produced more papers in a variety of journals.
As a Project Editorial Assistant for the journal (IJTMRPH), he presently donate my free time to help with various projects pertaining to the development of the journal and peer reviewing upcoming pieces of research. He is very interested in learning more about medical research and am eager to do so.
In his current position as a resuscitation trainer for the NHS Trust, he is able to provide various staff members with training in pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation, basic life support, immediate life support, and other topics.

All you need to know about COVID-19 vaccine-Mr Harish Jagtani
Ever since the world began to face the unprecedented crisis of COVID-19, every individual had one question- when will there be a vaccine that will protect us against the novel coronavirus? The answer to this question is now with us as the vaccine that will combat COVID-19 is on our tables at HJ Hospitals.
We have been actively working to fight the coronavirus ever since the beginning of the lockdown when COVID cases were on an all-time rise in the country. Harish Jagtani Hospitals and HJ Foundation together provided designated COVID facility, home care quarantine packages, medicines, COVID kits, doctor visits and even diagnostic lab services to the people of DRC. By maintaining a COVID-free zone in our premises, we ensured that other medical departments like maternity, nephrology, urology, neurology and cardiology weren't affected due to COVID-19. Now, we're ready to offer our citizens the Covishield Vaccination for COVID prevention and protection. Here are a few must-know facts about the vaccine that you must read.
What is the COVISHIELD vaccine and how effective is it?
The Covishield vaccine is manufactured by the Serum Institute of India and it is an Indian manufactured variant of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. The vaccine is administered in two doses given between a period of four to six weeks. Once injected, it pushes the immune system to make antibodies against viral infections like COVID-19. The vaccine has proved to be 70% effective in its trials done by now and is completely safe for all.
Who can take the vaccine?
The vaccination is voluntary. As per the selection criteria of the HJ Hospitals (authorised by PEV), vaccination against COVID-19 can be given to any individual, provided that he/she is over 18 years of age and that the vaccination team finds no contraindication to the Covishield Vaccine.
Are there any side effects too?
In most cases, slight soreness or pain in the arm, mild fever, headache or fatigue are a few side effects of the vaccination. All these symptoms do not last for more than a week.
How to get the vaccine at HJ Hospitals?
The process is simple! Here are the steps you need to follow-
·         Walk-in HJ Hospitals Clinique in Limete, Gombe and Lubumbashi
·         Carry your identity proof
·         Consult our doctors before the vaccination if you have any medical history to avoid complications
·         Get your first jab if everything is good to go! The second dose is given after four to six weeks
I you belong to any other territory, click on this link: https://tinyurl.com/HJhospitals and fill up the registration form to book an appointment. On the date and time allotted, visit our vaccination centre!
If you still have any queries or suggestions, you can call us at +243815586555

The Australian Open leaves Djokovic's participation in the hands of the... Novak Djokovic is not going to have it easy at all to play the Australian Open 2023. The nine-time champion in Melbourne is no longer exposed to a veto as such for his decision not to get vaccinated against the coronavirus, given the total improvement in society in As far as the pandemic is concerned, but it does continue with the sanction and the withdrawal of his visa until 2025 after being deported last January after his clash with the Government of the oceanic country. It will have to be, precisely, the great positions of Australia who finally decide whether or not Djokovic participates in the Australian Open for a mere question of entering the country. This is stated by Craig Tilley , president of Tennis Australia, the organizing company of the first Grand Slam of the season and therefore, the highest authority in terms of the tournament... but not in terms of enabling Novak 's registration . Cohort Profile: The Danish National Cohort Study of Effectiveness and Safety of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines (ENFORCE)
Preliminary report; Purpose: The ENFORCE cohort is a national Danish prospective cohort of adults who received a Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine as part of the Danish National SARS-CoV-2 vaccination program. It was designed to investigate the long-term effectiveness, safety and durability of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines used in Denmark. Participants: A total of 6943 adults scheduled to receive a SARS-CoV-2 vaccine in the Danish COVID-19 Vaccination Program were enrolled in the study prior to their first vaccination. Participants will be followed for a total of two years with five predetermined follow-up visits and additional visits in relation to any booster vaccination. Serology measurements are performed after each study visit. T-cell immunity is evaluated at each study visit for a subgroup of 699 participants. Safety information is collected from participants at visits following each vaccination. Data on hospital admissions, diagnoses, deaths and SARS-CoV-2 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) results are collected from national registries throughout the study period. The median age of participants was 64 years (IQR 53-75), 56.6% were females and 23% were individuals with an increased risk of a serious course of COVID-19. A total of 340 (4.9%) participants tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 spike IgG at baseline. Findings to date: Results have been published on risk factors for humoral hyporesponsiveness and non-durable response to SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, the risk of breakthrough infections at different levels of SARS-CoV-2 spike IgG by viral variant, and on the antibody neutralizing capacity against different SARS-CoV-2 variants following primary and booster vaccinations. Future plans: The ENFORCE cohort will continuously generate studies investigating immunological response, effectiveness, safety and durability of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. Registration: clinicaltrials.gov identifier: NCT04760132. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.10.09.22280886v1?rss=1%22&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr Read more ↓

COVID-19 Created New Demands on My Health Record Software
The global pandemic is making healthcare organizations to adapt medical facilities for sharing information effectively. COVID-19 created new demands on My Health Record Software as patients saw unprecedented challenges. Continuous data upload shapes the tool in a better way, once things normal a complete analysis report is generated. What features are used most, performance analysis, vulnerable areas, and additional space to work in the future.
My Health Record Software
is an effective system to maintain our personal medical information in our control. We can assign beneficiary alerts by mentioning patient ID as senior patients must have a person to look after their health. COVID-19 Public Healthcare Agencies used
MHR Software
to gather information to supply the demand rising from a different location for oxygen supplies and bed management.
Digital Front Door - My Health Record Software
My Health Records Software is designed with a patient-centric view so medical information is available instantly through the dashboard system. Interoperability from various vendors is unified to know complete information of patients before admitting them for COVID-19 positive sign.
Cloud-based systems enable organizations to avoid installing new hardware, printer and software purchase, etc. patients can access My Health Record Software from their mobile phones. It reduces the investment burden for hospitals to expand the clinical centers so a smooth workflow is achieved across different buildings inside the hospital premises.
Integrating Telehealth - My Health Record Software
Onboarding new staff are given virtual training on how to use the software in the most effective way to control coronavirus outbreaks and nearest vaccination centers are showed as notification. Unified Patient ID collects vaccination certificate and automatically sets remainder alert for next vaccination date.
Patients can see fundamental information like insurance eligibility, treatment registration, and billing components. Telehealth features are integrated to contact a medical professional in a click, general healthcare questions can be posted in the community forum to get proper clinical answers.
Screening Capabilities - My Health Records
Patients with respiratory problems are advised to use home-monitoring devices to check oxygen levels. In case of reduced oxygen level, patients are given instruction immediately to manage healthcare conditions on their own, and simultaneously family members and medical professionals are informed.
My Health Records Software supports virtual consultations with third-party platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Webex) and the recordings are stored on the cloud for anytime access. COVID-19 is a new challenge and an opportunity to find flaws in our existing healthcare system. We can improve My Heath Records Software further to adapt working under all kind of newly discovered virus.
