As we’ve been working our way through The Running Grave week by week, we’ve noticed that it can sometimes be a bit tricky to keep track of the huge cast of characters who lived at Chapman Farm over the decades—and we’ve heard from our listeners that many of you have the same problem!
So, we decided to put together a timeline of every important character who resided at Chapman Farm (or Forgeman Farm, as it was previously known) in the time span relevant to The Running Grave. The infographic below shows the complete timeline: who was at Chapman Farm, when, and for how long, as well as the important events that occurred there.
We hope you enjoy - big shoutout to Pools for putting this together!
“He was sorry, genuinely sorry, for the pain she was in. Yet the revelation had caused certain other feelings—feelings he usually kept under tight rein, considering them both misguided and dangerous—to flex inside him, to test their strength against their restraining bonds.”
Women aren't women...They're people who menstruate.
She's not a pregnant woman...They're a person with a uterus.
She doesn't breastfeed...They chest feed.
With everything Jo has said about her feelings, the things that have seen her labeled a TERF, she's making a strong statement here about identity losing value in society and erasure.
She's been attacked by Anomie over and over and over.
And if you'd like to dig deeper into exactly what "anomie" is...I recommend reading the Wikipedia entry for it. Those who are in the know with Strike will find the last paragraph of particular interest. 😉
What's up Strike fans - I need someone to share the very spoilery details of the latest book, but only the important parts...meaning Cormoran and Robin developments. Feel free to send me a message or reply below! :)
In this week's episode, we finally get to the chapter that is one of our favorites and contains some of JK Rowling's most beautiful and powerful writing yet.
Sneak peek of Episode 22 ("Darkening of the Light") featuring Kurt, out Thursday at 4pm PT/7pm ET! 🌊
I finished The Ink Black Heart and now I’m distraught that there are no more Cormoran Strike books to read until the next one is released. 😭😭😭
I came to them late, compared to a lot of fans, and had seen the TV versions of all the first 5 books before I ever read any of the novels. Now I’ve devoured all 6 books and don’t know what to do with myself until The Running Grave is released.
I could also possibly be consoled by news that they are starting to shoot the TV version of IBH sometime soon… I’m positively dying to see Tom and Holliday portraying these characters again and I know that the writers will be thoughtful and clever with how they adapt the book for television.
