Exquisitely Cut Paper Sculptures by Rogan Brown Highlight the Effects of Coral Bleaching
Through new paper sculptures comprised of delicately fringed sea creatures, Brown (previously) creates a striking visual display of the disastrous impacts of the climate crisis on marine life, showing how issues like coral bleaching can radiate outward into the wider world.
In “Ghost Coral,” two circular reliefs comprised of intricate paper cuttings splay outward, layering the fragile lifeforms sliced from stark, white paper. These monochromatic pieces contrast their vibrant counterparts, which are nestled into the protective center of one of the masses. The other work, titled “Coral Garden,” is Brown’s interpretation of the heat-resistant organisms that scientists grow and plant in deteriorating patches for rejuvenation, and he places bright, healthy creatures, which are enclosed in transparent bubbles, within swaths of spindly, pale creatures. To create both pieces, Brown follows the same meticulous process, which involves drawing the organisms, cutting them out with a laser, and carefully hand-painting and mounting them into their final, sprawling forms.
June 24, 2023: This week's slime mold guest at The Patch on Telfair is Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa, or white coral slime mold. It makes me think of snow, too. Beautiful.

coral island is great but there is no reason why there should be outdoor cats in a game literally centered around conservationism. wtf. I'm never going to not be pissed about this.
tiny bird garden' deluxe's 's baby bird feature is Cruel and I have to keep reminding myself that its just pixels. it's not a real baby bird. its pixels.
growing up is amazing and everyone should play it. they should make more content for it. it even has birds are dinosaurs! bc its themed in the 90s!
havendock is impossible to use
I like alba: a wildlife adventure so far I just wish it took place in a different location
let's build a zoo is cute and fun but the prehistoric life is not *quite* accurate enough
DC merfolk au where the world is practically flooded with small patches where humans live on floating rafts or islands or on top of old buildings long forgotten. (Maybe Atlanteans are human or maybe they’re still around like normal, up to the writer)
There’s underwater cities and villages made in reefs, caves, and even in submerged buildings where the merfolk live: Metropolis, Star City, Central City, Gotham, etc
Of course being DC there’s still heroes and villains (perhaps also merfolk, perhaps humans on ships, once again up to the writer) Maybe their real names are known, maybe they’re not.
thats it im conceding defeat. can someone tell me what my fuckass cyclamen wants. here’s some details below the picture as well
detail 1: i am not a gardener. i did not buy this plant. it was given to me for my 20th. my aunt knows im not a gardener. instead of green thumbs i have black thumbs. because of all the plants i kill
detail 2: i am australian. it is the middle of summer
detail 3: it says on the thing to keep it in indirect sunlight. my bathroom has that exact lighting level.
detail 4: the leaves started curling so i thought it wasnt getting enough water. so i watered it. and then the leaves turned yellow and the stems started going soggy and even i know that means i overwatered it so i just kinda left it for a bit and that kindof improved it
detail 5: the leaves were still curling so i googled it and apparently that means it isnt getting enough sunlight. so i put it on the windowsill so it would get sun in the afternoon
detail 6: it is now sunburnt on one side and on the other the leaves are still FUCKING curling
man i was enjoying coral island but ive had to maybe leave it for next patch
the game is just like, not done? at least on xbox. i cant upgrade the museum without crashes, and only until yesterday the game ran like garbage.
i wish publishers just let games come out when they should, cause i like the rest of it! this is the first harvest moon-like ive really loved (even over stardew valley)
