dear evan hansen is not a great show but DAMN i forgot how much requiem slaps
it’s a FUCKING GOOD song and it deserves respect because it makes me cry and all songs that make me cry deserve respect
is the show good? no. but the music is amazing so it almost redeems the show.

Spoilers for the Dear Evan Hansen novel and there's some vague discussion of suicide, be warned
Connor and Miguel's relationship is something I desperately wish we had in the musical. We get to see a glimpse into the actual one friend Connor had while watching Evan drown in his lies and it just makes it hurt that much more that everything Evan is saying is something Connor had/could have had in another world. Miguel truly tried to get close to Connor, Connor got kicked out of school for Miguel, but as soon as it came to Miguel asking Connor to let him in, to be real with him, that's where the line was drawn. "Every good thing turned bad" almost becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy as Connor runs from the idea of being vulnerable, he's scared Miguel won't like who he is. Connor knows what he's doing but as he says, he's powerless to stop it. I feel like in the musical (don't get me wrong, the character of Connor was well done by the actors, at least the ones I've seen, especially Mike Faist) we don't get to see enough of who Connor was, and that kind of makes him feel less real in my opinion. We see him mostly through the eyes of Evans conscious, and while that builds a parallel between them and their struggles, a few scenes of the real Connor would have made it that much more real (for lack of a better term).
I feel like they missed an opportunity to make the friends of those who've committed feel seen and less alone. I'm not gonna get too into it, but Miguel and Connor's experiences in the book really resonated strongly with me in ways the musical never did, and I understand that the book came after the musical and there's only only much you can fit into a stage show, but I do feel an opportunity was missed.
I'm sorry, this is reallyall over the place, but I just had some feelings on that and I wanted to talk about my favourite characters from the book

ngl idk which is funnier fandom baiting: people thinking michael is the main character of bmc or people thinking deh is about connor and evan being a gay couple

👽 for the headcanon games. Hier sind Kekse.
ooooooh alright
in my head connor and evan from deh both really like les mis. they just do, don’t know why
terezi has a habit of tapping her cane repeatedly against the ground
karkat is a good goddamn cook
dave can’t eat his food normally he has to do weird shit to his food like eat each macaroni individually or cut his sandwiches into tiny tiny little squares and shit
evan listens to a lot of rock and connor is a midwest emo bitch
rose bites her nails and it’s annoying cause it ruins her black nail polish but it’s a habit (i do this too rose you aren’t alone)

i really don’t care what skin color connor murphy has in any production but i do think he should have the emo alt boy long hair. that’s what i care about. in my head the mike faist shoulder length hair is essential connor murphy. that’s all.
