Stock footage of the SS United States will be used in SOS United States as the SS Leviathan. Last week my first feature film, Justice Is Mind, went live on YouTube’s Stash TV through FilmHub. While I continue to do “maintenance” marketing for Justice, the big push is relatively over as the film was released in 2013. But then in August numerous articles were published about advances in…

A Black actor recently spoke out against diversity hiring practices in the workplace, calling them an "insult."
In a lengthy post on X, formerly Twitter, Clifton Duncan detailed his story as an up-and-coming actor and how after 2020 he spoke with a friend who asked if he thinks being Black had anything to do with his success.
"That uncertainty gets to the heart of my issue with diversity hiring," Duncan wrote. "On one hand I'm certain I benefited due to my skin color. It's nice that people were looking to boost minorities like me. On the other hand people of all races have been in my corner since I was 16—long before "Wokeness" emerged. Everyone predicted I had a long career ahead of me, and I fulfilled that promise.
"And that's why I reject 'Diversity' hiring: I never needed it. It's an insult to any minority with a shred of self-respect. It casts a shadow over all I've done, because I'm not sure how much of my success is due to me, and how much is due to white guilt."
The post comes amid ongoing conversations surrounding diversity hiring practices that prompted an online argument between X CEO Elon Musk and Dallas Mavericks part-owner Mark Cuban. Musk recently criticized a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) hiring effort made by United Airlines resulting in a response from Cuban and an ongoing argument between the two over the past few days.
In his post, Duncan explained that he earned a Master of Fine Arts degree "from the finest acting conservatory in the US," that accepts only 2 percent of applicants. According to his IMDB profile, Duncan attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond for his undergraduate degree and then was admitted to New York University's graduate program at the Tisch School of the Arts.
"I secured a great agent and was taking meetings with major casting directors before even finishing the program. Over the span of 10 years I managed to build a body of work spanning everything from musical comedy to Shakespearean tragedy," Duncan wrote. "I was working with stars, scoring award nominations, and winning praise from industry legends [including the late Stephen Sondheim—a moment I'll cherish forever]."
Duncan's IMDB profile shows he has starred in the 2020 film Estella Scrooge: A Christmas Carol with a Twist, and several shows such as The Good Fight, NCIS: New Orleans, Elementary and Proven Innocent.
Newsweek reached out to Duncan via email and social media for comment.

Hey y’all! I’m back again with yet another post. This time we are finally getting to backstory related things
(Spoiler warning if you don’t want the story spoiled for you, this is for the sake of the people who want the spoilers lol)
(ALSO also I’m posting/working on this while I’m on my final day of my first filming production for one of my college courses :’D)
These are all in alphabetical order. (Also this is kinda of a long read)
Adam Murray - What I got for his backstory so far is first of all, he grew up in the Post War fallout years. He was born on January 18th, 1988. Adam grew up and lives in New Wisconsin, (Or the Great Midwestern Commonwealth) with both of his parents Jude and Lynn Murray. But when Adam Murray disappeared around the age of 3-4 years old mysteriously they both died.
The reasoning for Adam’s disappearance was because the USDOTP (United States of Temporal Phenomena) took Adam for experimenting. He was the seventh human to be conducted underneath what is known as the “Alternate DNA” experiments where he was injected with…well, alternate DNA. This was back in 1992, and Adam didn’t escape until a year later in 1993. He was saved by Cesar Torres, who was also being experimented.
During the Experimentation, Adam was classified under the term “Doppelganger” but the USDOTP didn’t know that Adam retained all of his human form, except on the inside. For example when Adam gets his emotions to the better of him he might turn into his alternate form. Sometimes when this happens, pain shoots throughout his entire body on the inside.
After Adam was returned by the scout Thatcher Davis, he then became an orphan raised by the Marshall family, and that is where he met Jonah Marshall and Mervin Marshall.
Years later in 2006, at just 18 years old Adam then joined the solider organization called the “Bythorne Nuclear Society” to become a soldier to defend New Mandela County and the surrounding counties (this includes New Bythorne County) during the Commonwealth War. Same thing happens with Jonah.
This is the basic outline of what Adam’s story is within this AU.
Cesar Torres - Cesar Torres was a childhood friend of Mark Heathcliff. When the bombs dropped in America in 1981, Cesar was six-seven years old. He managed to survive with his mother and father, Sebastian and Milena Torres. The family of three adopted Mark and Sarah Heathcliff in 1990 to raise them since both of their parents have died.
When Cesar was around seventeen years old, he, like Adam suddenly disappeared. He was missing for about a year when he finally came back in 1993. Apparently, he too was one of the few human experiments that was conducted by the USDOTP. Cesar was only one of the few that managed to pull through and still look human but had some alternate characteristics. Like Adam, he was also classified as a “Doppelganger”.
He was the fifth human being to be conducted underneath these tests.
During the last half of Part 1 of Atomicdela (Yes there are two parts) Cesar unfortunately would succumb to his mental break from becoming an alternate and dealing with his experimental trauma and would result into sho**ing himself.
David Lee (Or Dave Lee) - David was born in 1967 and was around 14 years old when the nuclear war occurred. David was also a close friend to Thatcher growing up.
After the bombs dropped in 1981, David tried to live through his life as the best he could, but he knew life was never going to be the same. Before the bombs were dropped in the same year, David’s parents opened a business called MandelaTECH. Of course, since the war didn’t give a chance for the business to run, MandelaTECH didn’t become a successful business.
It wasn’t until around the year 2000 (Which was around 3 years after the Commonwealth War started) 33 year old David Lee started to bring back the company with technology that could be some use in the war itself.
One of these technologies would be known as Axntrons. They would be these robots that are built to defend as well as soldiers. They were made to bring down human causalities that were happening during the war. Once Axntrons were invented, they were shipped to New Mandela and Bythorne Counties.
David continues to work at MandelaTECH with the help Evelin Miller (Like how the original canon was)
Evelin Miller - Like Adam, Evelin grew up after the Nuclear War. She was born back in 1990. Before the Commonwealth War started in 1997, Evelin met Adam for the first time at 7 years old. Meanwhile, Adam was only 9. This would be the only time Adam and Evelin meet since they were both stationary at home due to the raging war that broke out at the time.
Around the year of 2007, Evelin signed up to work for David Lee at Mandela Tech to help him out with the Axntron production. This was also roughly around the same time Adam signed up to be a solider at the age of 18, and Evelin ran into him again at the age of 16. Eventually Evelin and Adam developed a relationship together and Evelin became Adam’s girlfriend.
Their relationship is considered long distance since Adam is fighting the Commonwealth War, and Evelin is behind the front lines, working as an assistant technician. The two lovers often send letters to each other, and continue to do so.
James Heathcliff - This is the first fanmade character that I am mentioning in this post. I don’t have much about him but in this AU he is the father of Mark and Sarah Heathcliff. Before the bombs fell, he used to work as a pastor for a local church in Mandela County. He once knew another Father or Pastor that used to work alongside him known as Gabriel Jackson. Unfortunately, James died in 1990 due to radiation sickness.
Jonah Marshall - Like Evelin and Adam, Jonah grew up in the post nuclear war world. Jonah is about a month younger than Adam, with him being born on February 7th, 1988. Jonah grew up with Adam since he was just 4 years old. Jonah at age 18 would then enroll in the solider organization called the “Bythorne Nuclear Society” with Adam to defend New Bythrone and New Mandela Counties. Jonah joined because his father Mervin would become a general of this organization as well.
Jonah and Adam became very close growing up, and they haven’t been separated ever since. They even call themselves brothers, even though Adam doesn’t want to admit it.
Jude Murray - Jude of course is the father of Adam. He adored his son and was a kind man. Jude was born in 1957, and he was only 24 when the bombs fell in America. He studied at college to be a Lawyer like his friend Mervin Marshall. But of course, he wasn’t successful.
Before Adam went missing, there was a feud between Jude and Lynn (Adam’s Mother). The feud started to happen after when Adam was born into the post nuclear world, and both parents were starting to stress out due to the fact that their own child has to live in this depressing world.
This caused the two parents to split apart for a time. It wasn’t until Adam finally went missing that the two parents got back together to try and find him their missing son. Unfortunately they couldn’t find any leads.
During one particular night, Jude found Lynn had hu*g herself by a nuce of a rope. Jude overwhelmed and shocked that he lost his wife, he took his own life as well by sho**ing himself. Jude and Lynn’s bodies were found by a solider Scout named Thatcher Davis.
Kimberly Marshall - This is the second fan made character that am mentioning for this AU. Kimblerly is the mother of Jonah Marshall, and the wife of Mervin Marshall. Before the bombs fell, she was a store clerk in Bythrone County. During the post bomb years she eventually had Jonah in 1988 and took care of him and Mervin. But then she unfortunately died from a sudden alternate attack that caused her to get radiation, and sadly pass away while she was trying to protect her son.
Lynn Murray - Lynn is the mother of Adam (Obviously). She of course adored her son as much as Jude did. After Adam was born and during the feud that Lynn and Jude had over the stress of how to raise their child, Lynn always stuck with Adam, even when Jude spilt away for a while.
But it wasn’t until one day Lynn found her son missing, she would ask Jude for help. This would be the last time Lynn would ever speak to Jude. Overwhelmed of not finding her son, Lynn ki**ed herself. Jude would find her dead a day later, and he too got overwhelmed by her death. But instead doing same that Lynn took herself out, he shot himself with his own gun.
Mark Heathcliff - Mark is the central character we begin with when we enter the first part of Atomicdela. He is the centered character during the first arc, like how he is in the original canon. His birthday is July 24th, 1974.
When the nuclear bombs were dropped in 1981 the young boy was just six-seven years old. His parents, James and Michelle Heathcliff managed to get themselves and their son safe.
In the year of 1989 Mark’s younger sister Sarah Heathcliff was born into the world. Sadly, Mark’s mother, Michelle died while giving labor to Sarah, so that left his father, James to raise the two children. But in the year 1990 James had succumbed to radiation sickness and unfortunately passed away and unfortunately left his two children.
In that intermediate time without parents, Mark’s best friend Cesar Torres offered to help. Meanwhile with Cesars parents, Sebastian and Milena Torres adopted the Heathcliff children, but didn’t change their last names in honor of Mark’s parents.
Mark also grew up religious and believed in Christianity and continued to do so for the rest of his life. Mark would eventually become a general for the BNS (Bythorne Nuclear Society) in motivation to protect his sister. Also during this time, Mark tries to figure out what drove his old friend Cesar Torres to off himself.
Mervin Marshall - Mervin is the father of Jonah Marshall and the adoptive father of Adam Murray. He was married to Jonah’s mother, who was Kimberly. But as we know, Kimberly unfortunately died from radiation.
Before the bombs fell, Mervin was studying to become a Lawyer.
Years later, Mervin would eventually become a General near the beginning of the Commonwealth war in 1997. He would then learn his son Jonah would become a solider in the organization known as the “Bythorne Nuclear Society”.
Michelle Heathcliff - There isn’t much development on Michelle, other than her being the mother of Mark and Sarah Heathcliff before the bombs were dropped, she used to work at a Dry Cleaners. She sadly died during child labor in 1989 when her daughter Sarah was born.
Milena Torres - Milena is the mother of Cesar and the adoptive mother of Sarah and Mark Heathcliff. This is the mother of Cesar Torres. Before the bombs fell, Milena Torres worked as a Nurse at a hospital.
Ruth Weaver - Ruth was born around 1968. She was around 13-14 years old when the bombs were dropped. She wanted to become a police officer. But with happened with the nuclear war, the dream was crushed. In 1988, Ruth signed up to be a wasteland scout. This is where she meets Thatcher Davis, who would become her friend and scouting partner. Both of them eventually signed up to the same solider program in 1997 to become Lieutenants in the New Mandela County regiment.
Sarah Heathcliff - Sarah is the younger sister of Mark by about fifteen years. She grew up in a tough and rough nuclear fallout environment. Since she was only an infant when her biological parents passed away, she was raised by the Torres family. Sebastian and Milena Torres turned out to be the father and mother figures in Sarah’s life rather than what Mark grew up with.
Sarah would become the founder of the Bythorne Nuclear Society (Or the BNS) where it’s a small group in a neighboring county near Mandela called Bythrone County. The BNS was created in 2006 when Sarah was just seventeen years old. Like her brother, Sarah grew up religious as well. Her brother Mark would eventually join her organization too.
Sebastian Torres - This is the father of Cesar Torres. He acted as a father figure to Mark and Sarah Heathcliff after James Heathcliff had passed away. Before the bombs fell, Sebastian worked as a cook at a diner. (That’s all I have for him lmao)
Thatcher Davis - We finally get to Thatcher XD
His story is similar to Ruth’s. Thatcher Davis was only 13 years old when the bombs dropped. Ever since he was a young child he always wanted to be a police officer as well. Thatcher wanted to protect and help people, but the Nuclear War robbed him of that dream. During the post war years, Thatcher then eventually signed up as a Scout at age 20. This of course was when he met Ruth Weaver. She too, shared the same dream as Thatcher.
When the Commonwealth War began around the year 1997, Thatcher signed up to be a solider scout in the New Mandela County Regiment, who was allied with the Bythorne Nuclear Society. Thatcher then went on to be a lieutenant in the Regiment in the later years of the war.
Archangel Gabriel (Gabriel Jackson) - We finally get to the alternate figures. Unlike this character being technically the devil in the original canon, Gabriel was human before he was the first person to go under the experiment of the injection of alternate samples (AKA the USDOTP Experiments).
Before the experimentations he was known as Gabriel Jackson, and he served as a Father in a local church in Mandela County before and after the bombs fell.
In this AU he is referred to as the “Archangel Gabriel” because he’ll be the one the first human to bear the new wave of humanity’s progression after the bombings.
It’s basically a reference or call back to how in the bible Archangel Gabriel announced to virgin Mary that she has been chosen to bear the son of God. During and after his experimentation, Gabriel was identified as a “Unspeakable”
N (Ethan Sutton) - N, (Or in this AU his human name was Ethan Sutton) was the second human being to undergo the experiments conducted by the USDOTP. He worked at a video store before the bombs dropped. When Ethan was experimented, his test failed. Resulting into him being classified as “Flawed Impersonator” due to his failed form not having any human characteristics after the test was done. His alternate name would be known as N; or as a long name, Nemesis.
The Preacher (Amelia Phillips) - The Preacher (Or as her human name in this AU was known as Amelia Phillips) was the third human being to go under the experiment by the USDOTP. Before/after the bombs she was a Nun for a local church in Mandela County. After the experimentation, Ameila was identified as an “Flawed Impersonator” Just like Ethan Sutton (Or N).
6/Intruder (Hugo Zamora) - Hugo Zamora was the sixth human being to undergo the tests by the USDOTP. Him being the sixth is in reference to the intruder in the original canon, since he was called Six.
During his experimentation he wasn’t really given a name, but later he called himself the Intruder. Before the bombs fell, he and his twin brother Stanley (I know they are in the same person in canon but bear with me here lol) worked as real estate agents right after college.
When Hugo and Stanely were trying to escape the USDOTP facility, Hugo unfortunately lost his brother due to a gunshot wound to the head. Despite the humans who were experimented on were injected with alternate DNA, they still can die by being shot to the head. (Ooooh lore and angsty much?)
After his brother died, Hugo went on to avenge his brother, and seek out Adam Murray and Cesar because he figures they are the only experimented people alive. He adopted a cat named Jonny later as well.
Stanley Zamora (Or Stanley Zamora) - Stanley Zamora is the twin brother of Hugo Zamora (Or known as the Intruder in this AU) and was the fourth human being to go under the experiment by the USDOTP. Before the bombs dropped Stanely was a graduating college student and wanted to work as a real estate worker like his brother Hugo.
But after the bombs fell and was then conducted under the experiment, Stanely lost his human features and when he and Hugo tried to escape the facility together after Cesar Torres made a breakout, Stanely was unfortunately shot in the head and killed by a USDOTP member.
OK THATS ALL FOR NOW
Wow I managed to put this on all in one post. Hope you enjoyed with what I have so far as characters go. See you in the next one ^_^

In 1975, he had the title role in a short-lived science fiction series, “The Invisible Man,” and from 1979 to 1982 he played Steel in a British sci-if chiller “Sapphire and Steel” (1979-1982). Over the years, he also appeared in guest shots in many TV shows, including “Murder, She Wrote” and “Sex and the City, a romantic comedy-drama television series filmed in New York.

Later, in the 2000s as an eccentric medical examiner on “N.C.I.S.” he reached a new audience as Dr Donald "Ducky" Mallard, the medical examiner in US TV drama NCIS. McCallum was known for playing a pathologist on the hit CBS TV programme NCIS, which went on to generate several spinoff series, for twenty years. NCIS is the third-longest-running scripted, non-animated primetime television series in the U.S that is currently on air.

He was a true Renaissance man — he was fascinated by science and culture and would turn those passions into knowledge. For example, he was capable of conducting a symphony orchestra and (if needed) could perform an autopsy, based on his decades-long studies for his role on NCIS.

The Scottish-born actor died in New York on Monday 25th September 2023. He lived in Manhattan. David Keith McCallum was born on 19th September 1933 in the Maryhill (Scots: Maryhull - Scottish Gaelic: Cnoc Màiri) area of Glasgow, to a father who was the first violinist for the London Philharmonic and a mother who was a cellist.
David won a scholarship to the University College School in north London and took up the oboe with a view to a classical music career. Thus he originally pursued a career in music, training on the oboe and studying for a time at the Royal Academy of Music, though he soon left and enrolled at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. After RADA he started performing with repertory theatre companies.
David McCallum was drafted into the British military in 1951 and served two years, including 10 months in what was a small-arms expert. Not long after his discharge, he signed with the Rank Organization, a British production company, and began acting both in movies and on television.

David McCallum a classically trained musician, created arrangements of popular songs of the day alongside a few original pieces and made four albums with forward-thinking producer and composer David Axelrod. Those groovy productions have been sampled a lot by trip-hop artists and more. In particular, “The Edge” from 1967’s

Exclusive: See rare photos of Queen Elizabeth II from National Geographic's archives
From ancient ceremonies to American football games, these 20 rarely or never-before-published images from our photographers span the monarch's storied life.
By: Erin Blakemore
9 September 2022
Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor sat on an ancient throne, her eyes downcast.
Moments before, the 27-year-old woman had been clad in white. Now she was Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom and its Commonwealth realms—shoulders wrapped in golden cloth, hands clasping jeweled scepters, and head heavy with a crown.
Cries of “God Save The Queen!” echoed throughout Westminster Abbey as silver trumpets blared.
At the June 1953 coronation, no one could have guessed Queen Elizabeth’s reign would last a record-breaking 70 years.
But the significance of the elaborate ceremony was not lost on veteran photographer James Jarché.
Using a Leica camera loaded with Kodachrome film, he documented every moment of the age-old ritual, then rushed the undeveloped images to the National Geographic Society’s Washington, D.C. headquarters via special air courier.
The results galvanized National Geographic editors, who dropped other coverage in their September 1953 issue to make room for the stunning color photos, alongside classic Nat Geo takes on everything from the bunting that filled a still war-scarred London to the British-bred silkworms responsible for the queen’s sumptuous regalia.
Letters poured in from around the world, begging for extra copies as keepsakes and gifts.
"It was the greatest color story of a lifetime,” photo editor Kip Ross told Jarché.
And National Geographic was there to capture every step of her lifetime.
Its world-class photographers documented the demure new queen, chronicled the official appearances of the self-possessed public figure, and offered rare glimpses of the private life Elizabeth guarded so carefully.
Fashions, borders, communication, public mores—all experienced seismic shifts during Elizabeth’s years as queen.
Here is Elizabeth II as National Geographic saw her: gracious, determined, curious, confident, and long-lived.

I just watched an excellent, very brief, video essay on the film techniques of Sergei Eisenstein, and it's given me some ideas. [Now there's a sentence I never though I'd say.] I've had a few scattered ideas here and there about media and culture in the 12 Worlds and the United Commonwealth specifically, but I think I'd like to really, rigorously define some of the trends and movements that have made themselves emblamatic of that side of the World.

A Wargamer's Diary | Playing the Philippines in Hearts of Iron IV
Good morning! Good afternoon! Good evening!
Today's entry is my take on playing the Philippines in Hearts of Iron IV.
Hearts of Iron IV is one of my favorite video games, focusing on World War II. And what I learned from the game, and what I do like the most, is "you can do whatever you want." It's more like an alternate history, like the setting in the novel "The Man in the High Castle." The game was released by Paradox Interactive in 2016, on the 72nd anniversary of D-Day landings. And most reviews were mostly "very positive."
You know, there are ways of understanding the war, from reading books to watching documentaries. For me, if you really want to understand about the Second World War but you don't want to watch documentaries, read history books, or visit World War II memorials, I think this is the best game you can ever play with.
I bought Hearts of Iron IV way back 2020, during the onset of COVID-19 pandemic, at a discounted price. And later on, I bought downloadable contents like Together for Victory, Waking the Tiger, Death or Dishonor, and the like. And playing this game the first time was very difficult, especially when you don't know anything about how to play. The major countries (like the United States, the Soviet Union, Britain) were somewhat easy to play, while the minor countries are very challenging as they are trying to keep up with the major powers.
And the Philippines is no exception.
Some of us Filipinos know about World War II by the book, or through posts in various social media. We remember the war through movies like "The Great Raid" or "Panaghoy sa Suba" featuring Cesar Montano, "Manila, Open City" directed by Eddie Romero, or the 1980 film "Aguila" featuring Fernando Poe Jr.
In Hearts of Iron IV, it's a different story. It is about how you play the Philippines beautifully, how can the country survive the war, without being conquered by the Japanese. We know the population is 16 million people in 1936; a Commonwealth, more of a puppet of the United States; the type of government was democratic and conservative; and the leader was Manuel Luis Quezon.
The Philippines is in a very complicated position, given that it is the puppet of the United States, it is positioned south of Japan. And Japan has a war goal on the Philippines, using it's focus tree. So there are ways of surviving the country without being conquered by the Japanese: whether you break away from the Americans by civil war and ally with Japan, which in vanilla version they wouldn't dare kick us out of their faction; or ally yourself with Germany which still the Japanese will go to war with them as well; or go through with the "increase autonomy" which is a painstaking effort and take years to become a free country.
