Myanmar puts new Russian Su-30SME jets into operation

Two Su-30SME fighters were officially commissioned in service at the Nay Pyi Taw air base on December 15, celebrating the 76th anniversary of the country's Armed Forces.
General Min Aung Hlaing highlighted the potential contribution of the fourth-generation Su-30SME super maneuverable fighter to improve the capabilities of the air component of the armed forces. These detachments are seen as a strategic move to strengthen the effectiveness of the air force in addressing local conflicts and external threats.

Underlining the historical role of the air force in confronting regional conflicts and participating in joint operations against narcotics, General Min Aung Hlaing expressed his vision of elevating the air component to a tactical air force with strategic capabilities.
In a demonstration during the event, the Chief of Staff (Air), Lieutenant-General Zaw Win Myint, declared the commissioning of the Su-30SME fighter. Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung presented a scale model of the aircraft to Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, highlighting the official nature of the induction.

During the ceremony, a Su-30SME fighter greeted General Min Aung Hlaing and demonstrated flight skills. The Senior General participated in a traditional gesture spraying fragrant water on the commissioned aircraft.
The Su-30SME fighter, known for its flight capability, has advanced technologies integrated into its fuselages and flight maintenance systems.

In a broader international context, the Su-30 series gained attention, with Kazakhstan recently opting for Russian Su-30SM fighters instead of the French Rafale due to value for money considerations. The Su-30SM2 is a multifunctional jet fighter designed for aerial supremacy, border patrol, interception of aerial targets and air attacks against targets on the ground.

Collection of items from Skateland USA, Compton, CA. Important Hip Hop archive.
Archive of vintage posters, audio equipment, apparel, and original signage from the roller rink bearing the Skateland U.S.A name, considered to be one of the most influential birthplaces of west coast Hip Hop, in operation from 1984-1989 located at 1950 North Central Avenue in the city of Compton, south central Los Angeles, California.
Considered to be the most important Hip Hop venue in southern Los Angeles, the legendary roller rink Skateland U.S.A. hosted some of the most prominent and up-and-coming artists in the early eighties from coast to coast that would change the landscape of music forever.
Skateland opened its doors at 1950 N. Central Ave the night of November 17th, 1984. Owned and operated by Craig Schweisinger, a commercial agent who had witnessed the profitable nightclub atmosphere north of Compton at ‘rival’ rink World on Wheels, Skateland became an essential venue for some of the earliest names in Hip Hop including Dr. Dre, first as part of the opening night DJ group the World Class Wreckin Cru along with DJ Yella and Cli-N-Tel and later with Yella, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, MC Ren, and Arabian Price as N.W.A., Eric B & Rakim (who drew the largest crowd in Skateland’s history), Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five (the first Hip Hop artists to be inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2007), Mele Mel and Scorpio (two of the original members of the Furious Five), Eazy-E (first with CIA and Rapp In Stein and later, N.W.A.), EPMD, Toddy Tee, Mixmaster Spade and Latifah (before she became ‘Queen’), and Tone Loc who performed the penultimate show at Skateland.
The centerpieces of the collection are the original Technics SL-1200MK2 turntables, the only turntables used in the DJ booth by performing musicians – save for Run D.M.C – including a then-teenage Dr. Dre on opening night, one Numark DM-1450 Mixer, and one Craftsman EQ Equalizer. Also included are two hand painted signs, the first declaring “WELCOME TO SKATELAND, U.S.A” and featuring a list of rules required for entry, the second for the SNACK BAR, a spot where soon after performing as N.W.A, Dr. Dre, DJ Yella and Eazy-E could be found composing lyrics.

Diving masks: Diving masks are a basic part of the equipment when diving. You simply cannot experience the beauty of the underwater world without a mask. Did you know that the earliest example of underwater glass can be traced back to the 14th century? The Persians cut thin slices of turtle shell and polished them to find valuable pearls underwater. A few centuries later, divers were forced to wear a standard diving suit, also known as copper helmet gear. You may have seen the suit I am referring to, a large suit with a metal diving helmet. Visibility out of that suit was extremely minimal, as divers could only see through small, lattice-like glass windows. Today, diving masks are manufactured with high-quality lenses and robust constructions that give us clearer vision and better protection than ever before.
Snorkels: Where there's a diving mask, there's a snorkel. The concept of the snorkel has not changed for centuries. Basically, the snorkel is a tube-like device that connects the diver to the open air. The earliest records of snorkeling can be traced back to 3000 BC. In Greece, mushroom fishermen would breathe through thin, hollow tubes to collect mushrooms. Although the concept of the snorkel has not changed, it has been enhanced with features that focus on comfort and experience. For example, a regular snorkel has a flexible hose and a molded mouthpiece that is already more comfortable than a simple tube. Other features include a splash guard, a drain valve, and you can even get a snorkel in your favorite color.
Diving Fins: Did you know that it was Benjamin Franklin who came up with the idea of ​​flippers? Yes, the same president depicted on the $100 bill is credited with inventing flippers at the age of 11. Franklin loved swimming from a young age and wondered how he could swim faster. He cut out two oval pieces of wood and used sandal straps to attach them to the hands. He tested the same concept with the soles of the feet, but it didn't work. As he soon realized, power comes from the top of the feet, not the bottom, when swimming. His model, the wooden plates, led to the wide variety of flippers we have today. Diving tanks: Before there were tanks, there were diving bells. In the 16th century, two Greeks demonstrated their invention of air chambers to the Spanish emperor. The inventors lowered themselves with a lit candle inside the diving bell. When the inventors and the light came back unaffected by the water, the world began to build on this discovery. Soon after, the diving bell became an air bubble that allowed free divers to breathe underwater without having to come to the surface. Astronomer Edmond Halley significantly improved the diving bell by adding a window and an additional air supply. Although the concept of taking air down below the surface of the water has not changed, today's scuba tanks are much smaller and technology has made it possible to carry this life support system like a backpack.

Balancing vest (BCD): In the 17th century, John Lethbridge invented the "diving engine". This was the first diving suit not connected to an air supply. The diver would step into a wooden barrel and use their armpits to retrieve valuable items from shipwrecks. Similar to a crane arm, the diver would be lowered to the wreck, load his arms with valuables, and then be hoisted back onto the ship to refill the "dive engine's" air supply and repeat the process. The controlled descent and ascent from the "dive motor" inspired the diving jackets (BCD). Instead of using a waist system, BCDs use weights and air to descend, ascend and maintain proper depth while diving.
This was the first time in history that a diver could breathe underwater without being attached to the surface. 16 years later, in 1942, Emile Gagnan and Jacques Cousteau made the invention commercial. Their invention made it possible to breathe on demand and avoid manual adjustments. They called it the Aqua-Lung and this is where the diving regulator was born. This invention paved the way for recreational diving and allowed today's certified divers to freely explore the underwater world.

Archive of vintage posters, audio equipment, apparel, and original signage from the roller rink bearing the Skateland U.S.A name, considered to be one of the most influential birthplaces of west coast Hip Hop, in operation from 1984-1989 located at 1950 North Central Avenue in the city of Compton, south central Los Angeles, California.
Considered to be the most important Hip Hop venue in southern Los Angeles, the legendary roller rink Skateland U.S.A. hosted some of the most prominent and up-and-coming artists in the early eighties from coast to coast that would change the landscape of music forever.
Skateland opened its doors at 1950 N. Central Ave the night of November 17th, 1984. Owned and operated by Craig Schweisinger, a commercial agent who had witnessed the profitable nightclub atmosphere north of Compton at ‘rival’ rink World on Wheels, Skateland became an essential venue for some of the earliest names in Hip Hop including Dr. Dre, first as part of the opening night DJ group the World Class Wreckin Cru along with DJ Yella and Cli-N-Tel and later with Yella, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, MC Ren, and Arabian Price as N.W.A., Eric B & Rakim (who drew the largest crowd in Skateland’s history), Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five (the first Hip Hop artists to be inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2007), Mele Mel and Scorpio (two of the original members of the Furious Five), Eazy-E (first with CIA and Rapp In Stein and later, N.W.A.), EPMD, Toddy Tee, Mixmaster Spade and Latifah (before she became ‘Queen’), and Tone Loc who performed the penultimate show at Skateland.
The centerpieces of the collection are the original Technics SL-1200MK2 turntables, the only turntables used in the DJ booth by performing musicians – save for Run D.M.C – including a then-teenage Dr. Dre on opening night, one Numark DM-1450 Mixer, and one Craftsman EQ Equalizer. Also included are two hand painted signs, the first declaring “WELCOME TO SKATELAND, U.S.A” and featuring a list of rules required for entry, the second for the SNACK BAR, a spot where soon after performing as N.W.A, Dr. Dre, DJ Yella and Eazy-E could be found composing lyrics.
