On March 5th, 1959, 69 African American boys, ages 13 to 17, were padlocked in their dormitory for the night at the Negro Boys Industrial School in Wrightsville. Around 4 a.m., a fire mysteriously ignited, forcing the boys to fight and claw their way out of the burning building. The old, run-down, & low-funded facility, just 15 minutes south of Little Rock, housed 69 teens from ages 13-17. Most were either homeless or incarcerated for petty crimes such as doing pranks. 48 boys managed to escape the fire. The doors were locked from the outside and fire mysteriously ignited on a cold, wet morning, following earlier thunderstorms in the same area of rural Pulaski County. The horrific event brought attention to the deplorable conditions in which the boys lived. The boys all slept in a space barely big enough for them to move around & theyre one foot apart from one another & their bathroom was a bucket at the corner where they had to defecate in. In an ironic twist, the land in which the school stood is now the Arkansas Department of Correction Facility Wrightsville Unit. In 2019 a plaque was finally placed after 60 years.
PURE EVIL!!! MY GOD!!

Thanks to the post-credit scene, director Ryan Coogler wanted to close his farewell to Chadwick Boseman and the legacy that Black Panther left not only in the Marvel universe. It is a touching scene, which gives hope for the future and casts a sweeter light on the past. The worthy conclusion of a film that wants to be able to sew the void left by the premature death of the American actor, without replacing it.
Thank you Chad, thank you so much for making us witness your immense skill. ♥️♥️♥️

Also leaving this here since today is the Remembrance Day for victims of the Anfal genocide.
Where Saddam Hussein (with the help of the MEK) and his cronies slaughtered hundreds of thousands of Kurds and Assyrians (and other minorities) in Iraq near the end of the Iran-Iraq war.
I posted about it earlier this year not too long ago.
Feel free to reblog.

Humility must be the measure of a man whose success was bought with the blood of his subordinates, and paid for with the lives of his friends.

Akira Toriyama Commemoration.
Although I'm not a Dragon Ball's fan, almost never see it, but must thanks for being the great inspiration of some artists inspired me since started drawing and for now. For giving us good moments and content to make memes and parodies what makes laugh among us. Demonstrating in the latin dubbing industry and its importance in being recognised for merits. For being part of the childhood of many adults who remember fondly, which brings the anime community closer together.

Thank you, Akira Toriyama.

This is a beautiful poem written by my dear friend, Mayank, who suddenly passed away three years ago today. He was kind, witty, an exceptional poet, intellectual and gentleman. This poem was posted on his Instagram account two days before he died, the last poem he ever wrote. It is a beautiful and poignant piece. If you have an Instagram account, you can visit his account @elusive.illusion, which is still up. Missing you, my brother.
Photo was taken by me at Beymelek Beach, southern Türkiye.

April 25 is the national day of commemoration of Australia and New Zealand for victims of war and for recognition of the role of their armed forces.
It marks the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.
ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
The soldiers in those forces became known as ANZACs.
Anzac Day is a commemoration of the anniversary of the landing of Australian and New Zealand troops on 25 April 1915 at Gallipoli, Turkey.
When Great Britain declared war against Germany for its invasion of Belgium in 1914, Australia and New Zealand, as Dominions within the British Empire, regarded themselves automatically also at war.
At dawn on 25 April 1915, the first of approximately 70,000 soldiers from the Allies landed at Gallipoli.
The objective was to drive through to Istanbul, take Turkey out of the war, and to provide supplies to Russia in its fight against Germany.
Out of these 70,000 soldiers, more than 20,000 were Australian and New Zealand soldiers.
What had been planned as a bold stroke became a stalemate after the invading troops failed to reach their objective on the first day.
For the next eight months, they clung to the land they had captured, before eventually withdrawing at the end of 1915.
After both sides had suffered heavy casualties, the Allied forces were evacuated.
It is estimated that 8,700 Australian and 2,700 New Zealanders were killed.
One year later, in 1916, the first anniversary of the landing was observed in Australia, New Zealand, England, and by troops in Egypt.
That year, April 25 was officially named ‘Anzac Day’ by Acting Australian Prime Minister George Pearce.
Today, we speak of an ‘Anzac tradition,’ meaning the ideals of courage, endurance and mateship that are still relevant to this day.

Janice Burgess Commemoration.
Her creation of Backyardigans was one of the series I watched and remember as a child, being a musical cartoon explores adventures and teachings at play in the characters' imaginations.
Their musicals tend to be catchy and fun, having lyrics and rhythms are easy to remember. Their characters are endearing and unique, each having their own personality (my favourite character was Natasha, because I identified with her personality).
Themes and concepts have managed to entertain and capture some people's nostalgia in their hearts.

Thank you, Janice Burgess.
