What comics do you read weekly, or do you trade wait?
Well, single issues usually come out on a monthly rather than weekly basis...but to answer your question, I have a digital pull list of comics I subscribe to, because I don't have the space for physical copies of either trades or floppies.
Due to the way that Amazon has screwed up Comixology, my pull list is a bit of an odd mix of past, present, and future books (because of Marvel's shift to five-issue minis over ongoings, there's a lot of finished books on the list that haven't been formally cancelled by Amazon, and sometimes subscriptions break).
My current pull list includes:
Betsy Braddock: Captain Britain.
Dark X-Men.
Immortal Thor.
Immortal X-Men.
Jean Grey.
New Mutants.
Once & Future.
Realm of X.
Rogue & Gambit.
Sabertooth and the Exiles.
The Great British Bump-Off.
Waller vs. Wildstorm.
X Deaths/Lives of Wolverine.
X-Men.
X-Men: Before the Fall.
X-Men Red.
Uncanny Avengers.
And when Marvel finally gets its act together and lets me pre-order G.O.D.S, and Ms. Marvel: the New Mutant, I'll add those.
Also, I have Marvel Unlimited to catch anything that gets good reviews but that I don't want to do a specific pull for.

PSA: You can get the Complete Sandman for under £20/just over $20 digitally via Comixology
Most people probably already know this, but in case you didn’t:
You can get all six of the newer, Netflix-release related books of The Sandman via Amazon/Comixology digitally. And right now, the price is particularly good, and I don’t think you’ll be able to complete the collection much cheaper if you actually want to own it.
I am always one for getting hardcovers, preferably via your local book- or comics store, and I’m probably the worst collector of Sandman-related stuff on the planet. But I also know that the price for the complete collection is prohibitive for many.
And even if you already have hard copies: Having them digitally is just great for reading them on the go (or as reference for metas 😜). I had books 1 to 4 for a while and just bought books 5 and 6 (I’d somewhat forgotten about them because they don’t contain the main arc, but I recently got annoyed because I needed a reference and had to take photos).
Book 1 is currently £1.99/$2.50, books 2 to 6 are all £2.99/$3.75 each.
What’s in them?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So books 1 to 4 will give you #1-75 and book 5 and 6 will give you Endless Nights, Dream Hunters and Overture respectively. Plus a few extras in all of them I haven’t mentioned here, but they are in the images.
Here are the prices again for reference, correct as of Dec 11, 2023.

(No alt text for these, they just detail the prices on Amazon, between £1.99 and £2.99 per book in the UK and $2.50 and $3.75 per book in the US).
Have fun!

Do you know how inaccessible comics are to me if I can't pirate them? And I don't even mean money. I am more than willing to pay artists and writers for their work. In fact I have read every issue (save the most recent, because my sites stopped working) of birds of prey via pirating as they came out, and then as soon as possible purchased them. I got issues 1 through 3 for Christmas from my big brother and bought issue 4 in Scotland. I have no issues with money. This isn't an ethics thing. But I have ONE comic store near me. Near me is an hour away, completely out of the way. And it's small and independent and has a great selection but it is my ONLY OPTION. I looked into paid options online and have ONLY found Comixology, except that I am Canadian, and Comixology doesn't seem to exist for Canadians. I cannot get into the city to go to the comic store. And I can't buy them online for some reason. And it's just SO frustrating. This isn't even like a "let me pirate" argument. It's a "fucking fix it" argument. My local comic store is niche, I don't think that's common. And yeah comics aren't the end all be all but it's a huge interest for how many people??? And I can't access them now because there's just no options?

What's happening inside ComiXology: insiders warn of more layoffs and a company shift
No-one's talking on the record, but what sources are saying on background doesn't look good
Tumblr media
by Graeme McMillan
It’s been almost a month since widespread layoffs hit Amazon’s digital comics platform comiXology, with somewhere between two-thirds and three-quarters of the company let go as part of wider Amazon-wide cutbacks. As the largest digital comics platform in the North American comics industry, it was a dramatic moment that left many questions unanswered. Now that the dust has settled, it’s time to ask: what is the future of Comixology, and of digital comics at Amazon as a whole?
The current (temporary) state of ComiXology
Popverse has confirmed that both Tom Ashley and Jeff DiBartolomeo remain with Comixology, and continue to head up the reduced company as it moves forward. The two took over leadership of ComiXology in the wake of the departure of former CEO David Steinberger in March 2022, although their titles remained static during the transition; DiBartolomeo is the chief technology officer at the company, while Ashley is head of product, UX, and subscriptions. Popverse has also confirmed that Bryce Gold is still in place as head of content.
Unofficial estimates based on information from those with knowledge of the situation suggest that around 25-30 people remain active inside the current Comixology, down from roughly 100 staff before January’s layoffs. At least a portion of those workers are on limited-term contracts, suggesting that Amazon’s plans for the company are not based in the long term as of writing. One estimate from a source close to the company was that existing contracts for the remaining staff last through the end of July, although it’s unclear whether any additional contract extensions would be in place following the end of this period.

While I'm finishing my comic book with Marc Dubuisson, with these 90 pages, I think I almost did 300 pages of comics since 2016?? (and more with the non published work)
And still, I don't believe I'm a comic book artist... Thank you my burn out and my non existent self confidence, I guess.
Some of my published work (more on the link via the images):

Amazon Unveils Integration: Comixology App Merges with Kindle
Tumblr media
In a strategic move poised to reshape the digital reading landscape, Amazon has announced the integration of two of its most popular reading platforms: Comixology and Kindle. This groundbreaking merger promises to revolutionize the comic book and graphic novel experience for millions of readers worldwide. For years, Comixology has been the go-to destination for digital comics, offering an extensive library and a user-friendly interface. On the other hand, Kindle has dominated the e-book market with its vast collection and seamless reading experience. Now, Amazon aims to combine the strengths of both platforms, creating a unified space where users can access their favorite comics and books in one place. With this integration, users can expect enhanced accessibility and convenience. Comic book aficionados will have access to Comixology’s rich catalog directly through the Kindle app, simplifying their reading habits and consolidating their digital libraries. Moreover, Kindle’s robust features, such as Whispersync and X-Ray, will now be available for comics and graphic novels, providing a more immersive and interactive reading experience. The merger also brings several advantages for creators and publishers. With a wider reach through Kindle’s extensive user base, comic creators can potentially connect with a broader audience. Furthermore, the integration may pave the way for innovative storytelling formats that leverage the unique capabilities of both platforms. Amazon’s move to merge Comixology with Kindle reflects a commitment to enhancing the reading experience across various genres and formats. This strategic initiative aims to streamline accessibility, convenience, and engagement for readers and creators alike, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of digital comics and e-books. Comixology revealed on Tuesday that its Comixology app is merging with Amazon's Kindle app. The original Comixology app will be discontinued from December 4. Customers can still read graphic novels and manga on the Kindle app and via Amazon's website. The Comixology Unlimited service will continue. Read the full article

Honestly, the graphic novel was so pretty. I’ve stopped reading a lot of them on comixology but I’m always struck by how beautiful the art is.
