i am definitely the only person who cares about this but I was re-reading parts of Sea of Monsters (irrelevent as to why) and. in the chariot race. well, a.) The Ares cabin has skeleton horses. where did they get skeleton horses? and then, actually more confusingly, b.) almost all the other chariots besides Hephaestus cabin (they have automatons) have normal horses. not pegasi. Percy actually specifically identifies the Apollo chariot’s horses by breed which is very funny to me because Of Course He Would but like. We never see CHB have normal horses at any other point in time? Where did they get the horses?

09 soapghost au, ghost was a member of soap’s unit before roba and they were together until he was taken. when he comes back and takes up the ghost mantle, simon riley is declared KIA and the hope that soap had let kindle in his heart that he’d come back to him dies. he throws himself into training, into becoming captain so he won’t let down another soldier the way he let simon down

then he recruits ghost to the 141 and ghost sees how much he’s changed, how much harder he is; slow to smile, never relaxing and he realises how much he fucked up by never reaching out. he’d thought he’d be better off without him, without the shell of the man he used to love but he’d done nothing but hurt him

after the close call with shepherd, soap wants to get right back into it, wants to hunt makarov down for almost getting his sergeant and lieutenant killed and ghost is yelling at him to just take it easy and heal first when soap snaps back, “i can’t lose anyone else! not again!” and ghost just rips his balaclava off, showing his face for the first time in years…

and soap says nothing. he just looks at him, completely unreadable. ghost clenches the balaclava in his hand, waiting for anything; even injured, soap can still pack a mean punch and he’s waiting for it, almost hoping for it… but he still does nothing. just stares

“well? c’mon!” he growls, stalking in closer. “let me have it! tell me how pissed you are! that i left you alone! that i ruined you the moment i touched you! that you regret ever fucking looking at me! scream, shout, say something!” until he’s leaning over soap’s chair, chest heaving

soap’s hand lifts and ghost can’t help his flinch before planting himself, ready to be struck, longing for it, to be punished the way he punishes himself-

“Smash bros?” One repeated, his eyes narrowing suspiciously at the two turtle mutants before him. They seemed excited to be making the offer, smirking as they held the sealed invitation out to him. He stood a little taller, and his tail whipped behind him agitatedly, knocking into the ankles of his brothers as they gathered protectively behind him. Despite their formation, though, he could practically feel the curiosity rolling off of them. 

“Want to explain that one to us?” Three asked, and One chanced a quick glance over his shoulder towards him. He was grinning, head tipped, arms crossed loose and easy over his chest. His hands were balled into tight fists, though, and there was a tick in the muscles of his jaw that told One all he needed to know about how much he trusted these two strangers. 

“It’s a game,” the turtle mutant in blue said, and the fabric of his mask creased as he frowned. “May the best turtle win, and blah blah blah.”

“Will we have to fight?” Four asked, and One let out a soft oof as he felt the youngest of his brothers leap easily onto his shell to peak over his shoulder at them. “We don’t have anything to use as bandages. Draxum is usually the one who gives those to us after we fight!” 

Oh, now they both looked concerned. 

“Uh, no. No physical fighting. It’s just video games.”

“Oohhhh,” Four hummed, head bobbing like he understood even though One knew well and good that he had no idea what those were any more than One himself did.

Two and Three, on the other hand, immediately perked up. 

“I’ll take any chance I get to prove my technological prowess!” Two declared, and Three snorted at his showboating. The turtle in blue made a weirdly similar sound. 

“It’s really not that deep,” he said with a grin and a shrug, but he still seemed happy to lead them to where the tournament would be taking place.

I keep seeing people saying "I hope they don't make Jeremiah the bad guy" and other things like that. They're not making him "the bad guy", it's a not really a good guy-bad guy situation. I don't think this story has a bad guy. What the 3rd book (and probably the 3rd season) do is show you Jeremiah's flaws and the fact that he isn't a perfect person (because no one is!).

I know we've all agreed Belly has a very biased and idealized view of both boys. Once Belly starts dating Conrad and things start to spiral, the bubble is popped for her and she stops seeing the idealized version of him, but I would also argue she starts to idealize him in the opposite way, forcing herself to try to see him as a "bad" person. I also feel like in the 2nd book/season she starts to compare the brothers in her mind and starts thinking maybe Jere was always the better choice (he would have been a better prom date etc). And the first 2 books/seasons spend a lot of time telling you Jere is a golden retriever, a golden boy, an unrealistically "perfect" guy who is always fun to be around and would never hurt Belly or do any of the things Conrad did. But the thing is, no one is that perfect. And especially not kids who have been through the things the kids in this story have been through (ie Susannah), of course they're all going to make human mistakes. Also we're getting all of this from Belly's point of view, and we need to remember that she has always seen them in the radiant sunshine light of all these magical summers.

The 3rd book is when Belly's Jeremiah bubble is popped and she starts to see all the annoying things he does and his flaws (it's actually kinda funny cause the first chapter is like "oh everything is wonderful with Jere he has been so many of my firsts and I've never had anyone like this" and then in the next chapter she's like "Jere is the most annoying mfer I have ever met and here's all the annoying ass thing he does"). And then the whole cheating thing happens...but they were on break so technically he didn't "cheat" but he should have known better, and then he made it worse by proposing to her.

Anyway all of that is to say they are not making anyone the bad guy, they are not making Jeremiah the bad guy. They are showing he makes human mistakes, is flawed and is also very capable of hurting Belly. Yes, he's a fun golden retriever but golden retrievers also sometimes bite and jump up on you and get into your trash, but it doesn't make him a bad dog. It's not sunshine and flowers 24/7. That's just not how life works.

Also just to be clear- yes, the characters in this story make mistakes and hurt each other and are at times a little bit toxic to each other, but no one does anything irredeemable or unforgivable.

Not only do we have Heroes skewing younger (a lot fitting into another trope of What If There Was A Baby Sister) we also have Baby Banner. Where the whole point is they are baby.

Which was since revealed to be (quoting the BioWare 25th anniversary book) "an internal guide for developers and publishers to summarize the vision for "Joplin" (the first code name for DA4, until that project was revised in 2017 and renamed "Morrison", the version of DA4 we're getting now), but that "still contains plenty of ideas that will appear in the next Dragon Age", showing a flaming rook and a wolf head, which is suspicious considering that a rook is a piece in a game of chess...

we're in this phase III trial of this thing that is soooooooo cool and i want to talk about it sooooo bad but 1. no. 2. no one will understand me if i do. 3. no.

but its so wild to watch disease processes go from totally untreatable to like. one time novel solution. in half of a lifetime. like from "not only do we not know why this is happening or how to stop it but i can tell you that you're just going to go blind," to "well if you come in and get this done every x weeks actually you will preserve most of your vision" to "actually maybe we can just do this one procedure and the thing that robbed 25% of your family of the ability to read by age 75 will simply not be a problem for you"

#like for adult seeing people 80% of your sensory input comes from your vision so you can imagine what it's like to be 78 and lose vision #it ages people like you would not fucking believe #and it's absolutely wild to see it come back like cataract surgery is the most fun bc its like 10 min and life altering but alas #not everything is in the front of the eye #and its really amazing to see people go from rapidly aging and cognitively declining to like fully functional and active #just bc they got their vision back #a thing we could not do 20 years ago in this modality at all even a little bit like we still have og patients from THAT original study #the first one and done treatments for neurodegenerative diseases are soooooo close like they are happening i am seeing them #if your appt takes 84 yrs its bc suddenly there were millions of treatable patients and now and exponentially increasing aging/diabetic pop #if you can imagine: this is cliff-shaped curve that is rather difficult to keep up with from the provider-training perspective #so i would also like this to work so we dont have this 4 hour monthly appointment. for everyone involved which includes me who is so tired
