Heck yeah - Satin and Sawdust for the win! One of my fav pieces ever! Is it true that 91 Whiskey has a hopeful ending? I've been thinking about reading it for a while. Tbh I'm a huge fan of Twist and Shout but so not in the mood for another heartbreak

Yes it’s true! Both Dean and Castiel are alive and together at the end of 91w.  I call it a hopeful ending instead of a happy ending, because they go through A LOT OF SHIT and come out of it the worse for wear on the other end.  But there’s hope and it’s so so important.

To be honest, I’m not a fan of T&S, and I wish I’d never read it.  When I saw the description, what I wanted to read was a Vietnam story with a gay romance at it’s center.  But instead I got a gay tragedy with a blip of Vietnam in the middle, so I felt baited and switched.  Also, it’s got all the tragedy tropes that I hate.  I’m not even sure why I bothered finishing it other than morbid curiosity.  I know it’s The Destiel Fic of Fics, but eh. 

(Side Rant: It baffles me that it’s considered the pinnacle of Destiel fic, and yet the stupid and heartless finale of the show seems to be the exact same flavor as the ending of T&S... so weird to me.)

On the other hand, 91w IS a war story.  It’s dark, it’s tragic, it’s heavy... but it felt close to canon, and it gave me the Old Broken Soldiers that I wanted very much to read.  And at no point did I feel like the plot was moved along by characters being stupid.  Emotionally constipated? Yes.  Stupid?  Definitely not. 

The author knows their history, and many times I was so caught up in the battles that I’d have to put it down and breath through the adrenaline rushes.  That’s why I think 91w as a movie would be Oscar bait.  WW2 movies always end up with Oscars... imagine one that centers around a gay romance getting an Oscar.  It would be fucking amazing.

i’ve definitely heard that! i have no idea if it’s true, but it certainly stands to reason that when all else seems fucked—gain 6″ in height with a platform shoe that could kick someone’s face in.

Ah, got it, thanks! Oh, I'm also living for the renovation tips from a screen adaptation of S&S; not to mention some.. fashion choices :D I think I get various reasons why people are opposed to T&S but it just so happened that it was literally the first destiel fic I read (knowing absolutely nothing about it beforehand including the tags) and being hit by a train doesn't begin to describe it lol

Scenes from S&S that I think would be enhanced 100% by seeing them on the screen:

Dean cuddling his cats.

Cas and Dean all sweaty and covered in dust after tearing the shower tiles out.

Sam in a lab coat at the vet’s office.

The drowned cat O_O faces Dean and Cas make at each other when the ceiling drops on them.

Cas asleep on the fold out couch with the cats sleeping on him.

Dean shirtless and sweaty while rebuilding Cas’ porch.

Dean and Cas shotgunning pot.

THE SMUUUUUT, but specifically Dean in panties.

Dean and Cas making out in the lighting section of the hardware store.

The slow, methodical dismantlement of the warddrobe.

KARAOKE!

Jimmy shoving Cas off the couch.

Dean watching Cas work on the sprinklers while shirtless and sweaty.

The entire epilogue.

No joke, if I win a stupidly large lottery I might fund this.

ahh thank you!! :D this was one of my fav. fics to write, just ’cause, c’mon, Cas at the dentist!! it’s gotta be an adventure :P 

(honestly just Cas on any human adventure, going to the grocery store, getting all squinty-eyed and suspicious when he reads the ingredients list that says “May contain peanuts” and then he starts questioning the dubious and imprecise nature of manufacturing with the cashier. 

Dean’s all exasperated because dude, this was supposed to be a milk run, but instead, Cas stays there an hour, establishing the movement against cross-contamination packaging, and then the news station arrives to interview this incredible (and super hot) man, eventually culminating in nationwide protests, Cas’ face on all of the banners. 

Dean vows never to go anywhere with Cas again, except every time a passerby stops him to mistakenly congratulate him on his husband’s success, Dean puffs up his chest and feels really proud (Dean’s face was too beautiful not to photograph by Cas’ side so he just becomes known as Cas’ trophy husband even though they haven’t even confessed their feelings for each other yet)). 

So, yes, totally got carried away, but anyway, I’m absolutely planning an X-mas fic. :P I just have to wait for the water that I spilled on my keyboard last night to dry haha and once again, thank you for your wonderful message!

Hey, I just wanna thank you for that "everyone sees human!Impala differently" headcanon - it's the best goddamn thing I read in a while and now it won't leave my mind.

Hahahaha. I’m glad! It’s been my headcanon for a long time and my mother and I used to throw it back and forth trying to write a fanfic. I’m just glad that everyone seems to enjoy it as much as I do. :))
